Rewatching the episode with Franklyn and Tobias because I've read a few fic featuring both and the charactization of Franklyn was super weird to me. He was written with such disdain and disgust and that was odd because I didn't remember him that way. I absolutely believe Hannibal pitied him, and definitely felt some impatience and disdain for him, but I don't believe Hannibal wanted him dead. I think the revulsion creeping into so many of the stories about Franklyn are motivated by the fatphobia of the authors because, without fail, they all harp on his size. When we write it's so important to question our internal bias. It's good to see more writers not falling into the traps of racism and misogyny but that doesn't excuse the fatphobia.

But when you start sexualizing, using weird pet names, and things like that try and check whats up. I totally understand admiring someone and appreciating what they do- but theres a line between admiringly having an obsession and having a creepy obsession.This line is very thin.
