So I've been thinking.

If Captain Marvel is the Champion of Magic, does that mean he has to play by the rules of all magic? Demon, fea, pixie etc.? Because if you owe something to one of those, things tend to go wrong. Fae can take your children, pixies can make your life hell, demons can literally take your souls.

So what if Billy Batson, being the sweet boy he is, keeps doing people favours? Now, he'd never take a child or cause someone chaos, as that means actually interfering, but souls? That boy could definitely be having people sign their souls away to him and he has no idea.

The first time he did someone a favour after the wizard granted him his powers, Billy was overtaken by a surge of tingles that tasted vaguely of rotten eggs. The feeling only lasted a second, but he couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the day. All he did was help Old Linda from the block over carry a bag of food to her place of residence. That was it. But after the tingling, Billy felt like he was connected to her in some way, on a deep and intimate level that didn't make sense.

And then it kept happening.

Helping to paint his neighbours room. Helping a girls cat from a tree. Letting a lost child sleep in his abandoned apartment overnight.

And later, bringing Batman a coffee after a long mission. Teaching Green Arrow the basics of pickpocketing. Spotting Flash on his running form.

Anytime someone said "can I ask you a (quick) favour" the tingling and eggs would come and Captain Marvel had no idea what it was or why it happened.

That is.

Until Old Linda died.

It had been a long patrol for Captain Marvel. There was a crime wave almost every year around July, like clockwork. Mainly teenagers getting in with gangs and trying to prive their worth now that school was out (or, at least, that was Cap's theory).

He was just touching down near his building to transform when he felt an entirely unique sensation. The tingling he was so familiar with came crashing over him in a wave so intense the demigod found himself wobbling where he stood, garnering a few concerned stares by citizens. The part of him that had been connected to Linda had snapped into place and, without even having to doue check, Billy knew for a fact that Old Linda was dead.

He also knew where to find her.

Drawing on his magic, Captain Marvel opened a portal to a corner of the Rock of Eternity ans stepped through.

There, on the otherside, stood the kind old woman who would often give him food if she had any left over.

"Excuse me, sir?" She asked, looking rather fearful, "would you mind telling me where I am?"

With eyes already misting, Marvel closed the portal and stepped towards her with his arms out in a calming manner.

"Linda. I'm so sorry. You're in the Rock of Eternity. You shouldn't be here but I think it's my fault you are," he was swallowed thickly, putting every ounce of self control he had to the test to bit show how distraught he was with this development.

Clearly seeing his distress, Linda calmed and gripped the Captains arm in a consoling manner. "I'm sure it's quiet alright, dear. Why don't you tell me what happened and then you can return me home. And then you can explain to me all about this place, hmm?"

Her small smile fell when the captain did not immediately react to her request.

"Miss Linda," Billy tried, not feeling very much like a superhero at that moment I time, "I'm so so sorry! I shouldn't have helped you with the food. But I just wanted to do something good. And now you're stuck here forever and I don't know how to free you and there's so many people that are going to come here and I didn't mean to!"

The hulking form of Captain Marvel was now a kneeling, sobbing mess as the twelve year old realised what he had done. The feeling of rightness that sang in his magic at Linda standing within the Rock of Eternity. The pull of what he now knew to be souls pulling him in different directions. The fact that he had only been trying to help.

"Now dear," Linda kneeled next to him, patting his shoulder in confused concern, "I assure you I have no idea what you're going on about. I've seen you flying overhead and fighting monsters, but we've never met officially past today. But if I'm stuck here forever, then at least I'll have company. Now, come, dry your eyes and get up. You need to explain to me what's going on." The mum of four in her seemed to have taken over as she dragged the massive man up to his feet and the stood on her toes to wipe his cheeks with the sleeve of her cardigan.

Taking a deep breath, Captain Marvel nodded. "Miss Linda. You are dead. I'm sorry. I accidently own your soul and I don't know how to release you to go somewhere better. And you're only the first person that's going to arrive here. This is completely new for me and I'm not sure what to do. This place is my home so you are welcome to explore and make yourself comfortable. But it's not much."

The silence that followed was deafening as Linda contemplated her situation. It stretched on until a look of resolve made its way onto the old souls face.

"Okay."

"Okay? Is that it?"

"Well you are obviously very distressed so it was definitely an accident. But I am not staying somewhere that looks so dull for the rest of Eternity. You and I are going to be doing some redecorating. How big is this place?"

"Infinite."

"Then this shan't be an issue. We can build a lovely garden where we can all stay until you get this figured out. Besides, it'll give me something to do."

So, he did. Captain Marvel (who Linda learned to be Billy Batson) got to work and transformed a large section of the Cave into a garden, with strict directions from Linda.

Over time, more people joined and Linda took it upon herself to greet the newcomers and explain what had gone on. Many people were unhappy, but soon settled into their afterlife and making friends.

After awhile, Billy took Linda aside and granted her a Boon. One of her choosing. She chose "to be the peacekeeper of this little afterlife. I want to help comfort those here who miss their old lives. I try, I do, but a little magical help wouldn't go amiss." And so she became the Peacekeeper.

In the outside realm, when Captain Marvel explained to Batman, Green Arrow, and The Flash that he accidently owned their souls, well, let's just say that shitshow lasted a while.

Let’s unpack. Assuming she received an invitation to VW as well as the Coco Chanel opening at the V&A why chose the V&A opening instead of the ⭐️ launch to LFW?

The answer is very clear. Too much star power at VW. She would not be able to garner the attention to push an agenda. Did she cut off her nose…?

Let’s step back a moment. Caitriona is an ardent fashion aficionado, we know. Supports all friends in the industry as evident in her socials. Yet at this moment no mention of her dear friend Maria McNamus inaugural NYFW show. Nada.

Why? I’ll leave that to you to decide.

I can say this. Don’t use and send proxies to my DM’s to push two agendas.

The script needs new writers. Oh that’s right they are on strike. The staleness of this cheese is a strong Roquefort. Or perhaps in honour of LFW, a Stinking Bishop!

Her most noted characteristics is her powerful singing voice, her pink sparkling microphone, and her animated cat tail that easily gives away her emotions. She is the first Latina-coded puppet on the show that is multilingual in English and Spanish. Linda Ronstadt performed her debut voice in the 70s, as well as many other well recognized Hispanic artists after her.

The More The Merrier: Ch. 2 - Preparation

“I’m being taken out for drinks.”

“You make it sound like you weren’t given a choice.”

“I wasn’t.” Sarah had always assumed the whole “butterflies in your stomach” thing was reserved for teenagers passing their crushes in middle school hallways, so she’s not entirely sure why she’s feeling it now. People offered to buy her drinks all the time. Hell, she usually accepted. Free alcohol, right? But something about their insistence had been so… God, what was the word…

“Who would be so bold?” Tom jokes, still not looking up from the datapad in his hands, oblivious to the metaphorical insects in Sarah's gut.

“Kelly and Linda.”

That does it. She sees his head pop up in her periphery. “As in...Blue Team Kelly and Linda?”

“Do you know any others?”

“...that seems strangely sociable of them.”

“It does, doesn’t it?” She runs her fingers through her hair. Was that too much? Should she just pull it back like she always did? She huffs, reaching for the elastic band she’d just taken out.

Slowly, Lasky’s attention returns to the datapad. “When are you going?”

“Tonight.”

“Ah. And…is that why you’ve been standing in front of the mirror for ten minutes?”

“It hasn’t been—” she checks her watch. “Whatever. Hair up or down?”

He sighs. Sets the datapad on the table. Rubs at his eyes. “Do whatever’s comfortable, Sarah. Am I missing something here? You don’t usually put this much effort into…” he gestures toward her.

Before she can answer, the room's holotank glows a brilliant gold and Roland’s avatar appears in a swirling flourish, arms crossed, looking suspiciously cheerful. “Based on the elevated heart rates of all three Spartans during the time of their conversation, I’d say you’re missing something significant, Captain.”

Two seconds tick by. To Sarah, it feels like two years.

Roland grins.

Tom blinks. “Sarah, is this a date?”

She’d be lying if she said she hadn’t considered the possibility. “If that’s what it turns into, I won’t complain,” she concedes with a shrug and a gentle glare in the direction of the holotank. “But I wasn’t gonna mention that part unless it actually went somewhere—thanks, Roland.”

“You’re welcome!”

Tom’s face morphs into something close to that kicked-dog look he got when his usual strategies of garnering sympathy weren’t working. “I know we keep things pretty open between us, but do we need to talk? Am I not enough for you anymore?”

Oh, a joke. She bites her tongue for a second as the word she’d been searching for earlier comes screaming to the forefront of her brain. Arousing. Their insistence had been arousing. Suddenly, the butterflies make sense…and instantly become wasps. “You know I haven’t fucked anyone my own size since I became a Spartan?” She might as well approach this for what it was. Or what it could be. What she wanted it to be? "...Miller doesn't count."

Some of the surprise drains from Tom’s posture at the mention of Miller, replaced by resigned agreement. “No, he doesn’t. But do you really think that’s where this is going to end up?”

“Again, wouldn’t say no if it’s offered.”

“...that’d be something to see,” Roland mutters.

Sarah turns on him. “You wanna watch?”

“I—um, meant it more in a rhetorical sense, Commander. But…of course, if you’re open to the idea…”

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, okay? I don’t know that we’ll be doing anything besides drinking and trading war stories. If—and only if—it ends up being something else…we’ll figure out the logistics." Her eyes flick between Tom and Roland, narrowing on the latter. "Until then, stop getting my hopes up."

"Sure thing—just one question. In the "hypothetical" event that you do end up…involved with the lovely ladies of Blue Team," he makes a big show of miming the quotation marks. "Could I…maybe ride along sometime? Just for curiosity's sake?"

There's a near-simultaneous sigh from both humans in the room. "We let him join us the one time…" Lasky starts.

"Actually, Captain, I've been included in your sexual escapades no less than three separate times and I find it exhilarating—"

"That’s my point.”

"And you can hardly fault me for that!" Roland retorts with mock indignation. The holotank flares brighter. "It's in my nature to seek new experiences and a threesome of Spartans would certainly be—"

"Okay, okay!" Sarah cuts them both off. "Roland, shut up. Right now this is not a date and there is no plan for a threesome. Right now it’s just drinks. Got it?” She doesn’t know who she’s putting more effort into convincing—the two of them or herself.

Roland shifts like he wants to say something but, wisely, stays quiet.

Palmer tightens her ponytail. “Good.”

The U.S. vetoed an Arab-backed resolution in the UN Security Council on Tuesday, which called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This is the fourth time Washington has used its power to block the Security Council from bringing an end to the Israeli war on Gaza since October. The resolution was put to vote by Algeria despite the U.S. being expected to strike it down. The U.S. ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that Washington was “concerned” the resolution would jeopardize efforts ushered by Egypt and Qatar to bring a deal to pause the fighting and exchange hostages between Israel and Hamas movement. Early in February, mediated talks reached a deadlock when Israel’s war cabinet rejected Hamas’s counter-deal to release hostages in stages over a period of four and half months in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, including national figures serving life sentences. The U.S. veto garnered disappointment in Arab capitals, including allies such as Saudi Arabia, which still hopes the U.S. administration will rein in Israel. “There is a need now more than ever to reform the Security Council to carry out its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security with credibility and without double standards,” the Saudi foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

Algeria, which put in a draft for the resolution two weeks ago, said silence over Israeli aggression in Gaza was not an option. “This resolution is a stance for truth and humanity, standing against the advocates for murder and hatred,” Amar Bendjama, the Algerian ambassador to the UN, said. “Voting against it implies an endorsement of the brutal violence and collective punishment inflicted upon them [the Palestinians],” he added. Zhang Jun, China’s ambassador to the US, said that “the U.S. veto sends a wrong message, pushing the situation in Gaza into a more dangerous one… the continued passive avoidance on an immediate ceasefire is nothing different from giving a green light to the continued slaughter.” The U.K. had abstained, while 13 members of the Security Council voted in favor. In the past week, the U.S. drafted and circulated another rival resolution that would call for a “temporary ceasefire” and lifting restrictions on supplying humanitarian aid into Gaza, on the condition that Hamas release all the hostages first. It is yet to be scheduled for a vote. The release of Israeli captives has been a constant line in U.S. official statements, yet, on Tuesday, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that returning captives was “not the most important thing”, according to The Times of Israel, as Netanyahu’s government is focused on destroying Hamas.

Transformation Tuesday for Ransom and his Marshmallow. Reader shows up to charity event using invite that Ransom gave her. Originally she declined to go (because there was no reason for her to be there ("I'm not your babysitter, Ransom") and she didn't like rich assholes except for one). Ransom, who was bored and in sore mood, now is excited - not only he has a good company now, but also he has a privilege to see his Marshmallow looking like a goddess. If he is lucky, she will let him 'pray' on his knees later 😏🥵

“You could look a little pleased about being here.” Ransom’s snide sneer was thrown at his mother as she smiled wide and proud, the celebration of her milestone realty accomplishment garnered heavy attention.

And of course Ransom invited you to the tune of you saying no because I’m not your babysitter, Ransom.

It was the end of a conversation and the deliberate act of you turning him down that made this party an instantaneous bore. It was no fun when you weren’t around to insult his family and drive his uncle mad, you weren’t here to be unapologetically unashamedly confident in your gorgeous curvy body which pissed his aunt off.

The party was droll, and Ransom wished for nothing more than to leave the party and find his marshmallow because at least then he could be doing something worth while.

“Smile, Ransom. You’re being watched.” Still condescending like he was a child, his mother dragged him along to testify to their wealth and status.

“I could be balls deep in my marshmallow and instead I’m being tortured.” Ransom murmured, gritting his teeth under his breath as he exchanged an empty glass of champagne for a refill.

“Ransom-“ his mother turned to scold him, her lips parted and the words were already forming on her tongue when one of their party guests had approached with vigour.

“Linda!” They embraced his mother in a hug and stepped back, with a slight stumble. “I just met your future daughter-in-law and I have to say she is an absolute delight!”

“I don’t understand?” His mother looked toward him, puzzling herself just as much as it was puzzling him. “Ransom isn’t engaged.”

“Are you sure? You’ve got to be mistaken. Your future daughter-in-law-“ the guest had turned and directed their attention across the event space toward a small gathering of people who were hanging onto every word.

And in the cusp of the crowd was you, Ransom’s breathtaking marshmallow in a gown that hugged every curve like a sensuous canvas, entertaining his mothers guests. It was innate and natural the way you had captured their attention with your tales, even producing a boisterous laugh that followed soon after.

“Really, Linda she is amazing!” Ransom’s pride burgeoned as he watched you integrate yourself among the people, so effortlessly stealing their attention. “I wish you would bring her around more!”

His mother smiled with tight lips and wait until the guest was out of earshot before she whipped around and fixated her glare on him. Ransom was no stranger to the bitchiness and the aggression his mother so easily conveyed and it was a simple act to ignore her as she prattled on.

“Ransom-“

“I didn’t know. Little brat said she wasn’t coming.” He couldn’t pull his eyes off of you, wouldn’t dare look away. “But I’m sure as hell glad she did. Have a good party mother, you won’t see me for the rest of the night.”

A 2016 article in Britain’s Daily Mail about then 74-year-old Paul McCartney’s U.S. tour garnered 350+ reader comments, many theorizing on why he keeps on playing live concerts (see article here).

Random Shoes Rewatch

This episode is like Torchwood's version of Love & Monsters, I actually couldn't remember much of it from my first watch, but I think that's because I blocked out how emotionally devastating it is

Eugene's life and death is a lesson to make the best of our lives because it can all be gone in the blink of an eye. How hard it hit me to see his mother's reaction, even his father garnered a tiny bit of sympathy from me, poor Linda who was grieving a kind coworker who'd tried to do something sweet for her, and Gary who betrayed him didn't do it out of malice or out of trying to physically hurt Eugene. Josh is a different story though, that guy was a dick.

But this episode shows off SO many of Gwen's strengths and kindness, yes, she ignored Eugene when he kept wanting to show her things and talk to her but it was often because she was in a rush or was called by Jack and even then you see her take a moment to stop when he has all the papers. They all shouldn't have brushed him off but I adore how she keeps working the case, using her instincts, knowing that it isn't as simple as someone being run over. She might have started the case out of a feeling of guilt but she's one of the most empathetic characters in the DW universe, she kept going at it despite everyone else telling her to drop it, sitting at lunch with Linda, going to his funeral, the joy in her face when she saw him again...I have so much love for her character!!!!

I don't think I've seen another episode written by Jacquetta May but what she wrote here was absolutely brilliant! Considering S1 of TW is considered one of the roughest ones, I'd forgotten how many great episodes there are. Out of Time is one of my favorites because of how it ends up leading to great Owen development, very much looking forward to it too!

“Phineas and Ferb”: An Animated Series All Can Enjoy

Candace tells her mom that her brothers are making a title sequence in the show's opening song

Phineas and Ferb tells the story of two stepbrothers who try to keep themselves occupied during their summer vacation, building elaborate inventions, while their sister tries to bust them and expose them to her mom, hoping to get recognition.

Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog on Feb. 15, 2023, and Wayback Machine. This was the fiftieth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on August 11, 2022.

Phineas and Ferb is an animated musical, comedy, and science fantasy series created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh. They are a long-time animation writing duo who worked together on The Simpsons and Rocko's Modern Life. With the show debuting in August 2007, the series ran for four seasons and over 120 episodes. The series finale aired on June 15, 2015.

As a warning, this recommendation discusses some spoilers for the four seasons of Phineas and Ferb.

Phineas and Ferb centers around two stepbrothers, Phineas Flynn (Vincent Martella) and Ferb Fletcher (Thomas Brodie-Sangster). They live in the city of Danville and go on adventures during their summer vacation. Often their older teenage sister, Candace Flynn (Ashley Tisdale) attempts to bust them. She also tries to garner attention Jeremy Johnson (Mitchel Musso), a boy she likes.

If that isn't absurd enough, the animal companion of Phineas and Ferb is a platypus named Perry. While he acts like an animal who can't "do anything" when around his human family. In actuality, he is a secret agent who is a member of O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym). He faces off against the devious, yet bumbling, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmitz (Dan Povenmire). Doof has a rival named Rodney (Joe Orrantia) and is a member of the group of villains named L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N..

These storylines are interlaced with running gags, surreal and situational comedy. This involves word jokes, pop culture parodies, metahumor, wordplay, blank stares, and breaking the fourth wall.

In many ways, the series has many similarities to Milo Murphy's Law, a sci-fi action adventure comedy set in the same universe as Phineas and Ferb. This carries over in its tones and characters. The second season of Milo Murphy's Law becomes a full-fledged crossover with some characters from Phineas and Ferb.

Phineas and Ferb was often promoted by Disney during its long run. There were live-action talk shows, two crossover episodes, and two television films. The first film, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension aired in 2011.

The second Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe aired in 2020. The latter film is the most recent animation of the franchise's characters, apart from Chibi Tiny Tales. However, revival series for The Proud Family, and for Moana and The Princess and the Frog film characters, may mean Disney might revive Phineas and Ferb.

The series is unique because it has a blended family. It is more common in pop culture now than when the series aired. Apart from Phineas, Ferb, and Candace, their mom, Linda Flynn-Fletcher (Caroline Rhea), and their dad Lawrence Fletcher (Richard O'Brien) are recurring characters. Occasionally Linda's parents, Clyde (Barry Bostwick) and Betty Jo (Rhea), and Lawrence's parents, Reginald (Malcolm McDowell) and Winifred (Jane Carr) appear.

This family focus is reflected in many songs and musical numbers throughout the series. There's even a fictional rock band named Love Händel. This is not unique. Disney characters in Elena of Avalor, Kim Possible, Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, and The Ghost and Molly McGee sing about how families are wholesome and without fault.

Kim Possible, a Disney series, has similarities, dialogue that caters to adult viewers, and visual jokes. However, Phineas and Ferb is different. It lacks in racial diversity among the cast. There are many White characters, such as a bully named Buford van Stomm (Bobby Gaylor), Carl the Intern (Tyler Alexander Mann), the hippyish friend of Candace, Jenny Brown (Stoner), and Doofenshirtz's ex-wife, Charlene (Allison Janey).

Characters who are people of color are the minority. They include two characters of Jewish Mexican descent: Isabella Garcia-Shapiro (Alyson Stoner), and Vivian Garcia-Shapiro (Eileen Galindo). Also, Baljeet Tjinder (Maulik Pancholy) is of Indian descent and Stacy Hirano (Kelly Hu) and is of Japanese descent.

Some fans of the show from South Asia, and Baljeet, criticized the series for problematic, and stereotypical character traits. In an interview in May 2021, Dan Povenmire asked people to not use the character's name as an insult. He said that these criticisms of Baljeet, and the show, were valid. Povenmire stated that during the show, they leaned into cultural differences of Baljeet, and characters from other cultures, which "may have not aged well". He also argued that Baljeet became a "more well-rounded character" through the course of the show.

At the same time, there are many non-human characters. Apart from Perry, there's Isabella's pet chihuahua, Pinky, and many O.W.C.A agents. Both of which have voice effects by Dee Bradley Baker. There's also a robot created by Doofenshmirtz, Norm (John Viener). Pinky, like Perry, faces a villain, Prof. Esmeralda Poofenplotz (Amanda Plummer). She has a boss named Admiral Wanda Acronym (Jane Leeves).

In April 2021, Dan Povenmire, co-creator of Milo Murphy’s Law and Phineas and Ferb, announced in a Tik Tok comment in that Perry the Platypus was asexual. This led to discourse on Twitter on the topic. Some praised him as a “king” and an “icon”, made the show more interesting to watch, and a win for asexuals. Others said that making the only animal character in the series is not something you get “brownie points” for and bemoaned the lack of asexual representation.

That representation after-the-fact, was better than gay vibes or subtext that fans can take from the series. Just as various fans support the slash ship between Cavendish and Dakota in Milo Murphy's Law, Dakavendish, according to the Shipping Wiki fandom listing, some fans of Phineas and Ferb ship Buford and Baljeet (Bujeet), the two Doofensmirtz (Doofcest), Ferb and Bauljeet (Ferbjeet), Phineas and Dipper (Phindip), Candace and Stacy (Candacy), or Phineas, Ferb, and Isabella (Phinerbella).

However, one ship stands out: the one between Candace and Vanessa Doofenshmirtz (Olivia Olson). Called "Candessa" by fans, it has a small following on social media platforms and even has a subreddit dedicated to it. Unfortunately, the show's canon somewhat invalidates the ship as it shows Vanessa and Ferb together in a future episode, making Ferbnessa canon. The show's writing and scenes make the Phinabella ship between Phineas and Isabella, and Canderemy ship between Candace and Jeremy canon. Even so, there is no heterosexual explanation for how Candace and Vanessa act around one another.

On the other hand, as Alex Henderson pointed out in his review criticizing heteronormivity in Spy x Family, a story can "have queer themes even if it doesn’t have queer representation" and have queer readings even if there isn't any direct acknowledgement of "any queer issues within its narrative or any of its narrative framings." This is the case for Phineas and Ferb, with heteronormivity and gender norms communicated through the dress, clothing colors, mannerisms, and actions of characters. For one, Marsh has said that there are LGBTQ characters in the series, but did not give any names.

Furthermore, Swampy hoped that the son "Rebels Let's Go" would be a "LGBT anthem", while the voice actor of Phineas, Vincent Martella, said that neither Phineas, nor Ferb, are TERFs. Additionally, at the beginning of the episode "Act Your Age", Povenmire and Swampy said that Perry would not have a girlfriend, hinting at possible asexuality.

Some of the voice actors are part of the LGBTQ community. Stoner came out in March 2016, saying she was "attracted to men, women, and people who identify in other ways". She later said that she wanted to remain fluid at how she described her sexual orientation. Stoner voiced a lesbian character in The Loud House named Sam Sharp. In addition, Baljeet's voice actor, Pancholy, came out as gay in 2013.

Queer fans of Phineas and Ferb have headcanoned Doofenshmirtz, Candace, and Vanessa as bisexual, Roger Doofensmirtz (Doof's brother) as gay, Ferb and Phineas as non-binary, and Stacey as trans. Others found canon support for Bujeet. This makes sense, as does seeming acknowledgement that Perry is trans male, even if headcanons don't make sense. After all, Martella came out strongly in support of the LGBTQ community, to give one example.

Some fans may headcanon Candace as trans since she has a deep voice when she is near parsnips. She also sings about changing her name to "Larry" in the song "Come Home Perry".

The show has been very influential. Olson's voice role in the series is one of the reasons that Pendleton Ward, the Adventure Time creator, had her voice Marceline in Adventure Time. In fact, I'm almost certain I learned about Phineas and Ferb, when Pamela Adlon, who voiced a character in the aforementioned series, sang the theme song of the series. She sang it along with other characters of Better Things.

Phineas and Ferb has similarities to animated series about super spies and covert organizations. While Inside Job had a hilarious episode which parodied spy thrillers, the French and Canadian action comedy series, Totally Spies! had the most similarities. In that series, Alexandra "Alex", Clover, and "Sam" Samantha are teenagers who fight evildoers on the side. They work for the World Organization of Human Protection (WOOHP). Their boss, Jerry, is like Major Monogram (Jeff "Swampy" Marsh) in Phineas and Ferb.

However, since it took 15 years before Disney accepted the series, and it aired on Disney, it is unlikely that Totally Spies! influenced Phineas and Ferb. Additionally, some have called Doof the most "human villain" on TV. This makes him different from villains or malcontents within Totally Spies!, which will return for another season next year.

The series also featured many well-known voices. For example, Ming-Na Wen, Corey Burton, Cloris Leachman, Meera Syal, and Kari Wahlgren voice characters in the series. There are also a plethora of guest stars such as Phil LaMarr, Keith Ferguson, Kevin Michael Richardson, John DiMaggio, George Takei, and Stan Lee.

Povenmire and Swampy have used the series to springboard into their own projects. Povenmire is leading the soon-to-premiere action-comedy-superhero series, Hamster & Gretel. In an interview with him, and his daughter, Meli, who is voicing the show's protagonist, Gretel, he said he has ADHD. It was implied that Gretel has ADHD as well. The series will also feature Stoner as Lauren / The Destructress.

Swampy is an executive producer and director of S.A.L.E.M.: The Secret Archive of Legends, Enchantments, and Monsters, an indie animated series by Samantha "Sam" Sawyer about a non-binary cryptid named Salem. He is a founder of the company Surfer Jack Productions.

It remains to be seen if Povenmire and Swampy will work together in a future series. They seem to be going off in their own directions, rather than collaborating together as they did on Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law.

Despite the lack of diversity in cast and lack of openly LGBTQ characters in Phineas and Ferb, something which recent Disney series like The Ghost and Molly McGee, Amphibia, and The Owl House, it still stands out as a strong series. I would unequivocally recommend the series.

Currently, Phineas and Ferb is streaming on Disney+ and Prime Video, with the first season available for free on YouTube.
