your gorgeous gorgeous art got me wanting to read war and peace, is there a specific translation you could recommend?

Hello anon! I currently own the Wordsworth Classics edition and it uses a very old Maude translation. I enjoy this translation asides from the Britishified names (Andrei as Andrew, Nikolai as Nicolas, etc) and the flow can be chunky but I enjoy it nonetheless. I’ve heard the Oxford World’s Classics edition of the Maude translation has done a better job with the flow and kept the Russian names, so I’d suggest that one. There’s also a few other translations like the Anthony Briggs one, but I haven’t read it and I’m usually not very fond of the translation of Russian into British English though I’ve heard it’s good for an introduction and is more nice to read. I find War and Peace to be significantly easier to read than most classics so it really depends on your preference of something closer to the original Russian or British English. Either way, I hope you enjoy this book that makes me insane on the daily

asdfghjkl that "AI artists are like people who bullied me in school" take is so bad on so many levels. first of all, this gifted kid bullied because they're better than their peers narrative is really bad cope and needs to end, it's toxic for both people it's applied to and for people who were bullied for LACK of skills (not that OP would be opposed to that it seems 🙄). second of all, I'm both a traditional artist and I like AI art, and I know for a fact I'm not the only one, so where do people like me fit this narrative? like the argument here isn't even that AI artists are jealous of the ability to make "good" art, it's about the ability to draw AT ALL. and like, I have that ability, I just want to also generate tens of catgirls in a few minutes! sorry for the impromptu rant, the post just pissed me off but I didn't want to start shit with OP, cause I don't feel like dealing with people's ableism today.

You get it!! Especially the gifted kid getting bullied because as a kid who was really 'good' at art but very much not liked by my peers, that was legit one of the few things they liked about me 😅😅. Outside of that personal tangent I very much appreciate your rant it is verbalising my issues with that argument and post. That and none of these people want to engage with the nature of capitalism, technology and labour but noooo this thing which allows people quickly to make illustrative work is evil , since you didn't put in enough 'hard work'. 'hard work' and that whole concept like you said is so obviously tied up with ableism which is just soooooo infuriating. Also I get very annoyed that people's ideas on art is also so very literal and traditional because you could fuck around in very interesting ways with ai art especially conceptually (though this isn't a moral failing it's just a fucking annoyance).
