Her arm burns, the words a lurid deep green. They weren’t there before, and, stupidly, the only thing that she can think, watching them form on her skin, is that she’d asked Darcy, twice, to just turn off CNN.

It wouldn’t stop New York from burning, but…

The phone rings. And then she’s scrambling to gather up her journals. The writing on her arm can wait. There isn’t any time to let herself believe it.

That will come in the aftermath, she’s sure. With nightmares made of glass, tubes in her mother’s arms, her own words dull and sterile like a promise. But they’re still there, lost as they are in wreckage and debris.

They’re there when she wakes up, half-strangled in her sheets. They’re there, and she knows, in her soul, she shouldn’t want them.

And so what happens to me every time happens again - the moment I join in, the moment I say 'hey, I could do some Activity! I'll join you at Activity!' it all falls apart. I'm a kiss of death for anything I try to make it into, and it's the worst knowing that socially I am the worst kind of incompetent because I not only embarrass and second-guess myself, but doom everyone around me like a black cloud of discomfort and death. I don't belong anywhere and everywhere I do try to belong I'll end up making fall apart.

The universe is trying to tell me to stop trying, I think. It's just hard to really accept it when I want to connect so, so badly. It's hard to accept that I'll never be able to be a part of anything, but everyone else will do just fine.

Environmental Engineer Dr. Tamer Al-Najjar reports the onset of very violent and widespread bombing across north Gaza tonight.

The Arabic text in the first post reads “!!قصف عنيف جداً”, meaning “very violent bombing!!”.

The Arabic text in the second post reads “سياسة الأحزمة النارية قوات الاحتلال تشن عدد كبير من الغارات والأحزمة النارية العنيفة شمال القطاع ...”, which he translates into English as “Occupation forces launch a large number of intense and widespread aerial bombardments in the northern Gaza Strip!!”
