So originally, I made the fankids long ago when I first got into Sam and max, but I never bothered sharing them because i thought they weren’t that interesting, but I’ve developed their backstory a lot more since then:

Ace: So Ace is a fucked up cloning experiment conducted by Geek, she decided one day that she wanted to make a silly lil clone of Max to see how far her experiments could go, but that didn’t exactly go as planned. She ended up creating 507-B (B meaning that there WAS an A but y’know..A didn’t go as planned at all) whom she kept secret from everyone for a long while, that is until Max let his curiosity take over and snuck into the lab when everyone was sleeping. Max found little Ace in some sort of science-y pod thing (idk what those are called) and he immediately thought it was the cutest little guy he’d ever seen. Ace indeed did not look very adorable, he looked pretty freaky ngl. Max decided to wake Sam late at night and show him what he found, Sam was hesitant about thinking anything of the freaky little clone, but eventually Max convinced him it was also the cutest thing he’d ever seen. When Geek realized that Max discovered the experiment and told Sam all about it, she was pretty upset about it but at the same time, she was also relived that she didn’t have to overwork herself taking care of Ace anymore, Sam and Max would just take it from there. And so, experiment 507-B was eventually named Ace, like ace of spades. (kinda a Poker Night reference) Ace is just the definition of a skrunkly, he’s adorable and ugly at the same time. He loves to chew, scratch, bite, kick, throw, and attack almost anything he sees, it’s just in his nature.

Quinn: Sam and Max don’t feel like explaining how exactly Quinn came to be. She could either be biologically related, a clone, or had just poofed into existence. Whenever someone asks about it, they both just laugh and continuing talking about something else as if nothing happened. Quinn is a sabertooth dog creature who I had been drawing ever since I first got into Sam and Max, basically she’s kinda just a mini Sam. I like to imagine her and Sam hang out a lot because they have so much in common with each other, they probably go out for ice cream and leave Max with Ace at home, to which they’d probably play video games together or just have play fights with each other. (Lots of biting involved) Quinn is very serious about working as a freelance police officer when she’s older though, her and Ace end up taking over the business and they get commissioned more risky cases. Quinn’s favorite kind of cases are assassination cases, which she’ll always use her trusty sniper rifle for. (Don’t get on her bad side, that rifle is scary) Similar to Sam, Quinn has quite the appetite, but only for one specific food..desserts. Whenever any sort of sweet is involved in a case, she’ll always be tempted to take some for herself. Despite her overall serious tone about mostly everything, sweets are what really show her true self, a lovable little puppy dog who can’t resist any sort of treat.

General info about the two of them: They have quite the sibling relationship. They always pick on each other and argue, but they still really care for one another. Ace likes to support his sister in any way possible, often cheering for her whenever she takes charge in a case, which is literally every case. Quinn likes to show her support for her big brother through subtle affection, since it’s hard for her to show much affection at all. She tends to bonk him on the head, call him a harmless name (knucklehead, stupid, etc) or just give him a little head pat. Quinn also shows how much she cares for her brother by protecting him when he can’t protect himself in a dangerous situation. One can never be without the other, just like Sam and Max themselves, an Ace without a Quinn or vice versa will make both of them feel incomplete. I totally do not plan on purposely separating them for story purposes noooooooo/s

Hi it’s phurry anon! I don’t have any well put opinions myself; I’ve just been thinking about how for a long while the jokes just went into an unnecessarily sour/mean territory at least in my ears and definitely in the phandom (exactly what you mentioned in the tags of your previous reply!). It does seem like the tone has mellowed out (especially since coming out and the dapg revival) and that they’ve started leaning into it for real. I don’t think they were ever purposefully mean-mean abt it though, like I’d draw a comparison between the overly mean tone abt furries & 2012 Being Straight-business; not that they’re exactly the same, but it feels like being in the same vein to me (and phandom meanness is obviously its own thing). anon you are absolutely correct, as someone who was kind of on the short end of the stick wrt phannies being weirdly mean about furries. like it was always in a Just Kidding tone but like, you can tell when people are arent actually just kidding and just straight up think youre weird :) i highly doubt dnp were ever trying to be actually mean about it, but also the bullying of furries was just kind of a universally accepted thing in internet culture for a while as like, people only saw it as a weird sexual thing. and while i'm not gonna deny that sex and nsfw content is a part of some people's enjoyment of it 1) it's anthropomorphic which means HUMANIZED and not actual animals and 2) that's not all there is to enjoying furry stuff or being a furry or whatever. ultimately, it's just self expression. it's being able to imagine a version of yourself that doesn't have to have anything to do with what you are like in real life, it's not a coincidence that furries tend to be queer and neurodivergent. idk if dnp are "Actually Furries" whatever that means, but there isnt just one way to Be A Furry. for example there are so many different art styles, some closer to western disney cartoons, some more anime, some that look like realistic animals and some that are just Symbols or Suggestions of animals. theres also levels of anthro LMAO like, human boy with cat ears and tail to straight up warrior cat, and plenty of places to fall in between. so i think dnp just land closer to the human boy with cat ears side of the scale (which tbh i dont consider "furry" but i do think is like, when you keep joking about it theres a point where its not a joke..... and i think that point is when ur putting crash bandicoot and robin hood in ur crushes tier lists)

ATLA rewatch thoughts, Book 3 (ep 2)

We go from The Awakening right into The Headband...a totally different vibe, but still SO GOOD!

2) The Headband

I’ll talk about Zuko first, since he only has a few short scenes. He keeps visiting Iroh in prison and he’s clearly in conflict with himself. Iroh is the conscience in Zuko’s internal struggle, but he’s still human, too. Iroh so disappointed and hurt by Zuko’s actions, and it hurts him to see Zuko losing his way after showing so much promise, that he can’t bring himself to face his nephew. Zuko is very angry in this episode, and we’ll see this anger come to a boil in The Beach. He’s having a very hard time living with himself, and he can’t figure out why - he thinks it’s because the Avatar still being alive mean that he could lose everything he has regained. But Zuko is at least a little aware of why he’s having so much angst: “I have everything I always wanted, but it's not at all how I thought it would be.”

Azula breaks up Zuko and Mai’s little picnic, and Mai plays along - but the cracks in her relationship with Azula are getting wider.

I really do think that Azula cares about Zuko...they have a (sometimes vicious) sibling rivalry, but they’re also family and...yeah it gets complicated in the way that only family can get complicated 🥲

This ep is best known for the Kataango, but it’s really an Aang-centric episode more than anything. It’s all about Aang learning how much the Fire Nation he once knew has changed--from the “flameo” and “hotman” jokes to the propaganda against ANs in the FN school to the rigid control that the FN seeks to maintain over its citizens. Aang sees all this from the POV of kids growing up in the FN, and he’s the one to bring joy and fun and freedom to his classmates, the same way he does with the Gaang. He knows what the FN used to be like before the war, and he knows that winning over the hearts of the FN kids is how real change begins.

I will always adore Aang’s “fight” with Hide...well really, only one of them is fighting and the other is avoiding and evading 😂 Aang is such a little sh!t here and I LOVE IT!!!

The way Aang keeps pushing to stay at the FN school for a few more days because he wants to feel like a normal kid for a short while, because nothing has been normal for him ever since the monks revealed that he is the Avatar...ugh I really feel for him 😭

And of course, how can I not talk about the Kataango??? THE KATAANGO!!! Aang so confident in asking Katara to dance, Katara all flustered (and jealous earlier) and not knowing how to answer and making excuses, Aang saying “Take my hand” 😍 Watching them dance made my Kataang heart go all pitter patter 😍😍😍 Ugh I’ve been thinking about writing a canon divergent fic where they get together after the Kataango, ever since I saw @pottyospanna‘s Valentine’s Day Kataang art...idk, this rewatch might just push me to do it...

I’m a journalism major! I spend lots of my free time writing. Good thing I love it so much lol. I’m in my second year of college, and I truly don’t think I would’ve rediscovered my love for writing if it weren’t for my major

What's your favourite non-kpop genre of music?

I’m a big fan of alternative, “pop punk,” pop, and boy bands. Some of my favorite artists outside of kpop are I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, Fall Out Boy, Harry Styles, 🩷Big Time Rush🩷, Ricky Montgomery, Rina Sawayama, and I’ve recently been getting back into Dodie Clark

When it comes to xh, I’ve been a fan since the announcement of Hello, World! I wanted to try to get into kpop right before Happy Death Day came out, but I was too intimidated. I followed a few groups I wanted to get into, but nothing ever came from them. Then, through the magic of ✨Instagram algorithm✨ I found a clip of Jooyeon from the Happy Death Day music video. I watched the mv, thought they seemed cool, followed them on Instagram and then completely forgot about it! That summer, a friend of mine introduced me to skz, and the algorithm did it’s thing again and xh was back in my feed announcing Hello, World! They were the first group I loved a really got into- and now the rest is history!

I do! My favorite anime is Hunter x Hunter :) I’m terrible at watching new shows and movies, so I’ve only seen a handful of them. The most recent one I watched was My Happy Marriage. anyway can i ask hows art school? like . is it worth it?? whats the experience and everything like + do u regret ur decision to go there? (dont feel forced to answer any of these) (for context + incase it wasn’t obvious ive been wanting and thinking of going to one if ever given the chance)

Oh man, where to start. Well first of all some of the main reasons to go to art school are the resources and the connections.

If you wanna get into furniture for example, that’s a lot easier if you have access to a whole workshop with tons of different saws. I’ve learned to use three different book binders as well as done hand binding myself, which is great fun for me but idk how I’ll make money out of that.

The thing is that depending on your major/department, a lot of the stuff you do in art school you could theoretically do on your own as well. So if you think you have enough willpower to make your own schedule and find your own resources then I’d say do that, and work on building your portfolio so you can show it off if you ever get the chance. especially if you don’t really have the money for college (I’m incredibly lucky to have someone help me cuz otherwise I’d be screwed)

If I’m honest, I didn’t really want to go to college at the time of me applying. I was kind of interested in learning how to wrap cars, and I wanted to take a course in that, if you can believe it. but all of my parents kids have to go to college no matter what (as in my mom forced me to apply to college and then sent me off like “I can’t help you pay for college btw good luck!”) so it was inevitable that I was going to go to an art school. which is fine because i've also always kind of wanted to go to a school, i was just stressed about not being able to afford it haha.

THEN there's what kind of art school you're going to. I'm at one of the most prestigious fine arts schools in the USA, because though I got admitted to others, I couldn't afford to go to others. the one I'm at offered the most money, because they could afford to. Idk what I'm gonna do with this degree but im in graphic design rn so I'll probably do something in that field. and it helps that the name of my school is renowned.

but if you, say, want to get into animation you're probably going to NEED to go to an art school. even if you cant get into an animation school specifically, any art school at all is better than none when it comes to animation (I think, idk for sure i'm not interested in animation as a job. my friend is tho so maybe I'll ask him)

now, HOW is art school? WELL. I've heard this isn't uncommon, but the first year was literally actual torture. it was really really bad. it made me more suicidal than I'd been since I was 12 and it ALSO made me start cutting for the first time ever. but I survived it, and the second year was way better! (if still stressful) the first year is for where they try to kill you, and the second year is where they go "haha just kidding ok lets get into what you want to know" at least that's how it is at where I am.

DESPITE the pain, and despite how even now I'm anxious about going back, I don't regret it at all. I really like my classmates and I love my professors. I love a lot of the work I've done and the skills I've learned. I liked living on campus and being so close to all that Art Stuff, even if i was too tired all the time to ever go out to any of the events.

plus on a more personal level, anywhere is better than living with my parents. so even if it was hellish the first year, i'm at least happy that i got things done and i wasn't wasting away at home with my mom.

1. thank you!!!! ;_; as for posting any more art idk i doubt it >_< if i’m being honest i rarely ever draw at all and that doodle was just a one off but if i ever just so happen to do any more in the future then maybe! i’d like to get back into drawing more but the bear has pretty evidently manifested itself more in the writing side of my brain so

2. if i’m being honest i’m still on ep2 of my rewatch LMFAO every time i try and sit myself down and tell myself to watch it i end up finding an excuse to pull myself away. idk why i’m so mentally averse to it… what’s that thing called where people keep putting off things they genuinely want to do because that’s basically what’s happening rn. i do have a lot of thoughts and half formed posts in my drafts rn just from my first watch alone though i just feel like i should complete my rewatch before sharing them and then i keep… not doing that

3. i loooove pacrim it’s one of my favorite movies/universes ever. if i like a character or a pairing regardless of what the og media source is trust that i will be imagining them in a pacrim au… i’ve been toying with the idea for carmy and richie on and off in the back of my head since way back last year but i actually think it works pretty 1:1 with canon! mikey and richie being lifelong best friends and going into the pilot program together, finding out they’re drift compatible and becoming jaeger pilots together, mikey being kia, carmy always having this pipe dream of becoming a pilot and spending his childhood looking up to mikey and richie and wanting to be just like them but being deterred by something or another. maybe going through the program but because he’s naturally reserved and introverted he thinks he doesn’t have what it takes to be an actual pilot or that he’ll never be drift compatible with someone because he can’t really imagine connecting with anyone in that way. when mikey dies richie’s left in need of a partner but richie is richie so he’s not really compatible with anyone else until they offer to test carmy and lo and behold.. richie balks from it at first obviously because carmy’s just a rookie without any real experience in the field and he and mikey were pretty well established for years (if not just a little unorthodox) and internally half of him is unable to accept the idea of carmy being mikey’s replacement due to his grief and the other half of him is unable to accept carmy being mikey’s replacement due to his protectiveness of carmy (but he doesn’t mention or bring that up ever. i think their dynamics and history in pacrimverse would mirror their histories together in canon, but any genuine good intentions richie has is also probably overshadowed by his anger/resentment and he ends up lashing out a lot at the higher ups and keeping carmy at arm’s length the whole time this is happening. he’s just like.. not coping well. or at all for that matter) cue some very slow burn and mutually tentative bonding and richie always berating carmy for being “just a kid” throughout it and objecting about having him out in the field (not to his face or anything, probably not even with malicious intent or with the purpose of hurting carmy but carmy probably overhears or finds out anyways and resents him for it + feels all that self loathing and ineptitude because he knows he couldn’t live up to mikey either) and richie being given the ultimatum of either having carmy as his partner or being forced to retire but when they’re put in a tight spot they DO go out in the field together. something very dramatic and tragic happens because something dramatic and tragic is always happening in a pacrim au and it seems unlikely that they’ll both make it out and richie is adamant about carmy being the one who lives, still struggles with all that survivor’s guilt over mikey and wouldn’t be able to take going through it again, especially not with carmy. carmy of course is like… kicking and screaming and very much NOT willing to leave him behind and at the same time he’s ANGRY because all this time richie still doesn’t think of him as being capable nor does he trust carmy enough to be able to let him help and for them to go through this together. i don’t think carmy is as concerned as much about whether he lives or dies, or even really if richie lives or dies, i think whatever happens he just wants to see it through alongside richie. he wants richie to trust him, he wants them to be a team, and regardless of what happens to them he wants them to do it together meanwhile richie’s only priority is to ensure carmy walks away from this alive. at all costs.

since this isn’t necessarily a fic plot or anything just how i imagine a pacrim au for them would be like, the endings vary—richie deceives carmy/saves him against his will and has to deal with knowing he’s automatically lost all and whatever tentative trust carmy had in him leading up to this, either richie lives and he and carmy have to start again from the ground up bond wise (maybe they realize they can’t be partners after all and richie would rather retire than have to be put in a position like that again) (lawful evil end) OR carmy eventually forgives him and they work it out and continue being partners (lawful neutral end) OR richie dies and carmy’s left to deal with the survivor’s guilt instead. (neutral evil end)

alternate endings: carmy stays and saves richie instead—also up to you whether he lives or dies but in the event that carmy dies richie has to go through all that mess with mikey all over again and idk if he could like. mentally/emotionally/physically survive that (chaotic evil end) or carmy finally finally convinces richie to trust in him just this once and they combat the evil together and come out of it stronger and closer than ever (lawful good end). also if i’m being honest when i think of this au playing out in my head i surprisingly don’t think of them ever being explicitly romantic but they still have that air of weird unspoken homoerotic tension that they do in s1: richie still devastated and grieving and fighting a battle of internal conflict, carmy still rash and impulsive and oblivious, richie wanting nothing to do with carmy but still unable to stomach the mere notion of putting him at risk, carmy thinking richie is a washed up asshole but still desperately wanting his trust and approval. sometimes the pining is better ngl

Hi, I’m Looking for anime recs. A bit of background: I’m 24, I’ve been “meaning to get into anime” since I was a kid. I love the art style and I love a few shows and I love following anime blogs, but I generally haven’t seen much, y’know?

I love Madoka Magica. It’s the only anime I have rewatched a bunch of times. A billion times, that’s a conservative estimate, I love it so much. But idk, every other anime I’ve seen I usually just find it “okay” to “pretty good.” Madoka Magica touched some intimate part of me that no other anime has ever done. I would just like to find another anime I could love almost as much. Please recommend me more anime.

Ralph Bakshi is pretty good, I love Fritz The Cat. That stuff always appeals to me

Based on your perimeters, I think you would really enjoy Princess Tutu and Revolutionary Girl Utena. They're magical girl anime like Madoka Magica (although Utena kinda straddles the line) that are much more psychological than what is typical of the genre. I will say that both series are longer than PMMM (Princess Tutu is 26 episodes and Utena is 39 episodes) but from what I recall most episodes are heavy on plot/character development.

Yuki Yuna is a Hero is another series you might like; it's another magical girl anime quite similar to Madoka Magica and the first season is only 12 episodes (and it stands alone quite nicely). There are follow-up seasons but they're also only 12 episodes each.

Also, I recommend making a post on the r/Animesuggest subreddit! Just copy-paste what you wrote here. If any of my followers have suggestions, please leave them!

Oh, and I definitely recommend finishing Gurren Lagann. It's one of the best anime I've ever seen.

Hello, I’m a very anxiouse proshipper and I’m looking for guidence I guess. For context in 2016, I was a part of the undertale fandom, and the popular problematic ships at the time where frans and fontcest. When drawing fontcest, I got a horiffic message in my inbox, going into detaile about ilr animal abuse related to some fontcest art I drew, and I’ve been turned off to being openly proship since. Throught the years I’ve been feeling very fucked up about calling myself proship, or making anything problematic. At one point I drew vrabbit (fnaf), and HCed him as a pedo cuz that’s the most obviouse vibes he gave off. I never drew him doing anything pedophilic, though I did draw him around his own (killed and robotociced) kids, and got a callout post made on my (that has now since been half deleted, I say half because it was initially a post made under a keep reading, and that og post is gone, but reblogs of the post remain). Recently Encanto came out, and the new ship there was an uncle and neice ship of bruno and mirabel, so of course I drew some art about it, but was scared to post it. And when I finally did, some people got upset at me, understandably so, but instead of ppl just blocking me and leaving, they would confront me directly, saying my art was now tainted, or that they hated me for “normalizing their abuse” (i’ve been abused too, I think, I don’t know if it counts as “real abuse” anymore because it was just sexual assult, and that feels like it’s the bottom of the barrel in comparason to someone being raped on the daily). But it sucks, because I’ve always been into this stuff, I don’t know why, I don’t know if I’m coping, I don’t know if something’s severely wronge with me, I asked my therapist once and they said so long as it’s art, it shouldn’t matter and it’s fine, but I feel like a shitty human being on a near constant basis when I start thinking about it. I’ve remade my blog like 2 times already, I’m wondering if I should do it again, this time just be more clear that I’m proship, or if I should just shut the hell up, because I don’t want more people coming to me about irl animal death. Like I don’t even take these ships all that seriously, I’m just some ace guy putting my kinks onto characters, I don’t care that characters are naked cuz a body that doesn’t arouse me on it’s own, and I want to be able to hc characters as something horrible ontop of how horrible they already are, like vrabbit was litterally murdering children, who’s to say he’s not some repressed pedo trying to counteract that shit with child murder instead? Idk, I don’t know if any of this was consistent, I just want to know if I should even be worrying about this shit or not, if I should start over again, or if I should just give up and forget the ritual of making art and posting it online in the hopes that someone sees it and thinks “ah, I vibe with that”. I’m just, tiered, man. Sorry to come to you with all this shit.

Humans have all kinds of wacky fantasies. Nothing especially bad ever happened to me, and I was looking at snuff stories on the internet as a 13-year-old. Nothing you're into is unusual, and the way you're engaging with it sounds pretty mild and no big deal.

If you feel awful on a daily basis, that's about anxiety or self esteem or depression, not any realistic reaction to your art. Your therapist needs to hear how much you're struggling.

I don't think you need to use the word 'proship' if you don't feel like it. I no longer use it for myself because it's far too tame and watered down for my actual views.

Remake or don't, but turn off all anon asks or the equivalent on every platform. Accept DMs only from people you follow. Block early and often. Post your stuff, but make it very clear you have a zero tolerance policy for jackasses.

Most of what I wrote was for TMA, but since that’s my most popular stuff I’m listing it last/under the cut. Star Trek: Lower Decks

Midnight Outing- 1.9k, complete, Boimler/Mariner/Jennifer; So this was one of my mutual gift fics last Christmas, and I actually ended up watching the entire series specifically to write it because it was what Ash was super into at the time lol. When ST:LD was announced I thought it was a lame idea (mostly because I’m immensely picky about animation art styles, I’ve dismissed… a lot… of shows because I didn’t love the art and ended up watching for one reason or another and been proven wrong). It was fun to watch, though! Though in a vacuum I would NOT have watched as fast as I did, the whole series in like a day and a half.

Malevolent

it seems a tiny miracle- 12.4k, WIP, Arthur & Faroe; finally, all my Shirley Temple knowledge comes in handy! Seriously, though, I’ve been so pleased with the reaction to this fic- I’ve been secretly observing every chance I get to see my baby cousins/run kids arts and crafts/etc to use for my characterization of Faroe and Little Archive!Jon.

The Locked Tomb

Ortus the Ninth- 1.3k, complete; Honestly I was SHOCKED that no one did this concept before. I know Ortus isn’t the most exciting character, but I feel like him being in the same position as the girls but even weirder, because he REMEMBERS what it was like to have peers and now he doesn’t even have one same-age archnemesis like Gideon and Harrow do has SO much weird depth to explore. Go read this, I had to hash out the meter in the Noniad to write it and it was a PAIN

The Magnus Archives

Jon and Gerry’s Fairy Tale- 7.3k, complete, Jon & Eric Delano, Gerry & Eric; This fic is an au of nature has taught her creatures to hate, but like… probably you could read it without if you’re just real hard up for dad!Eric fics. Or bb!Jon fics. This is probably my favorite of the fics I wrote various mutuals for Christmas last year, because I love bb!Jon and I especially love when he goes through a lot and comes out being brave and adorable.

your head caught flame (kissed your scalp, caressed your brain)- 2.3k, complete; Ah, the bad ending au to the cult au…. Had to have something to balance out the birdverse good(ish) ending au! Writing Desolation stuff isn’t my forte, but it was a fun experiment.

Dishonor- 4.3k, complete; Alternate POV for sutton’s lovely Stag Story. Writing Elias getting his karmic just deserts is always delicious.

Favor for a Friend- 1k, complete, Daisy & Jon; This was probably my fastest turnaround ever from “idea I had because I was half-conscious trying to fall asleep” to completed fic ever. Hopefully I captured the chills the idea gave me when I had it, idk.

A Different Archive- 1.4k, complete; I’m really proud of this one. It was for the TMA Minor Character Exchange and the prompts I got to fill were for characters I wasn’t really into, but the epistolary idea got me really excited for it when I came up with it. I do still have a half-finished Mike Crew character study I started first floating around my drafts, though.

Your Heart into my Chest- 9k, complete, onesided Martin/Jon; My other fastest turnaround, I was so obsessed with Sutton’s vampire februwhump fic that I HAD to expound on it and give Jon a little rescue. My favorite bit of lore that hasn’t really been picked up much, either in comments or sutton’s later additions, is that I was careful to imply that Martin’s father and the vampire who sires him are the same person. I never decided whether he was a vampire when he met Martin’s mother, how consensual their relationship started out… but if he was a vampire when Martin was conceived then that DOES make Martin his universe’s Renesmee. You’re welcome, I guess!

The Archivist and the Adventurer- 9 works, 24k, complete, Jon/Martin; I FINISHED MY FAE AU THIS YEAR! It took AGES, but I finally brought the whole story to the end! This is the thing I’m proudest of finishing this year.

and now i am a cereal girl- 2.5k, complete, Jon & Martin; My favorite thing about this fic is that it gave me a chance to mine my favorite song from when I was 3 for fic titles :)

10 In the Bed- fanart, complete; This is on AO3 mainly because it’s the only birdverse thing I uploaded this year :( I have 2 different drafts! Hopefully at least one comes out this year!

sitting pretty on the throne, nothing more i want (except to be alone)- 113k, WIP, Beholding/Jon; the origin point for the aforementioned birdverse! Honestly, that’s probably my favorite thing to come out of the little ol’ cult au this year- most of my favorite scenes either happened in 2021 or are yet to come! Stealing Dracula’s cowboy was fun, but as a writer it just can’t compete to the whump I got to do before or the reunions yet to come! I was really happy with the little farewell to Tim and Danny, though 

Dreams and Recovery- 3.9k, complete; Sutton’s The Mage of the Castle and the Mage of the Cavern has been bouncing around the inside of my skull since it was published. I have wayyyy more that I’d like to potentially do in that verse, but I was happy to finish this. The little bits of worldbuilding are a ball to fiddle with Also has one of my favorite sentences I wrote this year

Beneath the Stains of Time- 41k, WIP, Jon & Daisy; Just edging Jon up through every conceivable age group. In the coming year, teen!Jon is going to get to Go To School! He’s gonna have… well, not friends. He’s not very good at socializing. But peers! And escape attempts! And if we’re very lucky, we’ll reach the point in the flashback where he resigns himself to living with Daisy and the point in the present day where Martin realizes something is Very Wrong

in his hand the fire of Jove- 15k, WIP, Jon/Martin; This fic is like… 80% inspired by that scene in Peter Pan where Captain Hook traps Tinkerbell in the empty lantern. Jon is tinkerbell in this analogy. It’s been on a longer-than-planned hiatus bc of life/brain things, but it’ll be back soon!

You wanna do a fucking Brady Bunch style cover for an issue about a family reunion?

But when someone asks ‘hey where’s Duke Thomas’ - someone who LITERALLY is either a foster son of Bruce’s, or an official Wayne adoptee, writers have always been inconsistent as fuck about how they view his place in the Batfam - like, how are you going to respond “oh the cover just includes ‘core family’” when you’ve got Stephanie in one of the boxes, and also, the fucking DOG Taylor created for his run?

And also, on top of Duke not being there, because maybe you can say ‘well Dick and Duke haven’t even had the OPPORTUNITY to interact much since Duke’s creation, given Dick’s distance from the Batfam throughout the Grayson title, and then his couple years of amnesia’......

Like MAYBE you could sell that response, instead of the ‘core family’ cop-out, but then I’d still be asking, okay but WHERE’S CASS THEN?

Cuz she’s only in the BACKGROUND of Stephanie’s box, not even obvious on first glance. Treated as the afterthought there, instead of the clearly emphasized Stephanie. And unlike Dick and Duke, Dick and Cass most definitely DO have history.

And given how much of Taylor’s run has been straight up mimicking every major story or character beat of the 90s Nightwing comics, there’s no WAY that man isn’t aware of stories that feature a lot of Dick and Cass bonding, like Bruce Wayne/Murderer? and Bruce Wayne/Fugitive.....but didn’t prioritize Cass either, hmmm.

So if you’re going to make a Brady Bunch homage cover for an issue that’s about a Batfamily reunion, and you don’t include Duke and BARELY include Cass, but you include Stephanie and the freaking DOG in full display?

Not to mention, Damian’s blatantly whitewashed on that cover - and except for a throwaway acknowledgment of Dick’s Romani heritage in one panel at the start of Taylor’s run, which also made it explicitly clear that this current interpretation of Dick is absolutely supposed to be regarded as a character of color, not that the art or the story ever reflects that in any other way - its a painfully oblivious look to just so happen to sideline the only other two PoC in the entire damn Batfamily.

And look, I love Stephanie, you guys KNOW I do. But if you’re going to cite ‘core family’ as the basis of your Brady Bunch homage, there is ZERO reason for her to be on that cover in place of either Duke or Cass, let alone BOTH. Steph and Dick’s only real interactions stem from the period he was Batman and she was Batgirl, but outside of that, they don’t have any more history than he shares with either of the other two, and UNLIKE the other two, Dick and Stephanie have NEVER regarded each other as family in that way. 

Stephanie is CLOSE with the Batfam, and makes sense to be included as part of the extended Batfam, same as Barbara, but she and Barbara have always been distinct from the other kids due to the fact that there has never been any point in time when the two of them have looked to Bruce as any kind of parental figure, or even WANTED to. Steph has her mom, Barbara has her dad. Even when both have admittedly had issues with their parent in the past, neither EVER looked to Bruce as either a replacement or even a SUPPLEMENTAL parent figure at those times either.

Stephanie is absolutely a close FRIEND of the family, a very very close one, and good one, and Barbara of course is Dick’s girlfriend or at least love interest in Taylor’s run, but aside from that, but neither of them have ever been connected to Dick in the same way that both Duke and Cass are.....in that particular way that could be described as, oh idk....’core family.’

So if you’re going to cite that as your reason for your choices to include in the eight slots on the cover, and you’re going to have the writer, Taylor, ‘weigh in’ on the criticism of those choices (especially as I’m fairly certain that as the writer of that issue, HE picked which characters were meant to be included there, but I can’t be sure about that) but if Taylor’s response is going to be to mock the person asking ‘where’s Duke’ by listing off a whole bunch of other supporting Batfam cast, say shit like ‘why do you hate Ace the Bathound, Bruno’.....

Then you should be embarrassed as fuck to have decided that cover really needed to have Dick’s PET in place of BOTH Duke AND Cass.

Like really, if they’d just left off Bite-wing and Steph, they’d have had room for both Duke and Cass, and there would have been NO issue. Or even just switch Steph’s box around so its Cass in the foreground there and Steph peeking out behind her. And both Duke and Cass are literal adoptees or fostered by Bruce, so they INARGUABLY fit the bill of ‘core family,’ even if people happened to ask ‘where’s Steph’ in that case. Which tbh, I don’t think anyone really would have done, because it would have been OBVIOUS why she wasn’t included in one of the eight spaces available, given the other inclusions, and again, Dick and Steph have never been close enough that her inclusion would have been some kind of glaring omission, and unlike with Duke and Dick, where their lack of much interaction aside from Robin War is largely logistical, given Dick’s been infamously unavailable for like, five of the seven or so years Duke’s existed....Steph and Dick’s lack of frequent interaction spans a good two decades.

In conclusion, apparently I did have the words already anyway, and I haven’t been a fan of Taylor’s from the start obviously, but doing a family reunion issue and a Brady Bunch homage for a cover, and choosing to include or emphasize Steph and Dick’s pet of less than a year, that Taylor himself created, over Duke and Cass - again, the literal ONLY other two characters of color in Dick’s entire family, aside from the blatantly whitewashed Damian - 

And your first instinct is to mock people asking hey where’s one of the other two people who absolutely have reason to be counted among Dick’s core family?

Look live action will always scare me to the extent that I’ve hit a point where I almost don’t care about rivens potential race anymore but honestly I just wanna know HOW THEY GONNA DO THE ANTI GRAVITY MAGENTA ONION HAIR since the new live action will apparently focuse on more “animation accuracy” I’m curious what is gonna happen with it and how it’ll look😭 tbh I’m kinda manifesting that if they refuse to do like full on magenta hair he’ll at least have like magenta dip dye or smth🤪 tbh I’d the spikey hair doesnt work irl I’d kinda dig a ponytail or manbun to kinda emulate the silhouette of an elevated hair look but that’s probably like just me but I’m excited to see what they will do with his hair😭

On the topic of the ethnicity of the specialists I think one thing I always liked about them is that because they weren’t based off irl celebrities nor do they ever specify races in the magic dimension, I like to think that everyone can have their own hcs Abt them if they’re more ambiguous. Like I guess it might get rlly confusing with helia and Saadin Bcs of helia supposedly taking a more East Asian appearance while Saladin has more southwest inspiration so I guess in terms of genetics it may not rlly seem logical to some? Idk I personally chose to ignore now and there’s rlly not much a point of reading into it as it rlly was a children’s cartoon. And everyone would have their own interpretation of it? Like I guess for me mentally I used to think riven was East Asian like musa when I was rlly young because as an East Asian who grew up in a homogenous country I always remember interracial dating being looked down upon and super unconventional where I was from and I guess I just accidentally projected and assumed since I was a kid. Oh if you wanna hear something about inteprations: both me and my mom thought Aisha was mixed latina and black because her hair texture doesn't have that much volume, especially next to Stormy who's hair looks far more kinky than Aisha's did. Her hair being limp and looking more curly than kinky or coily is definitely at its worst in Harmonix, which is the season I stopped watching at growing up. S6+7 are the best at giving Aisha's hair volume, which is ironic because that's when the couture art style set in, but neither me nor my mom saw that

If your wondering, its mostly the way her hair tapers off, and how it goes mostly down instead of out. It makes her hair look 3 range, which is like my mixed kid hair and less like my mother's

when I was overwhelmed in the hospital getting prepared for my upper endoscopy, lmao. nothing bad happened I was just really anxious for reasons unrelated to the actual procedure.

well, I once had a very brief stint on the middle school track team and absolutely hated it (I was easily the slowest person there). but if we’re counting martial arts, I did do karate for six years and earn my black belt when I was a wee 13 year old, so there’s that lmao. I have however completely lost all of that knowledge and training since then, so, rip to that rank I guess.

idk, just vibes I guess??? whether or not I think they’re queer, if they seem friendly, whether I feel comfortable around them or not, probably some very shallow assumptions if I’m being honest. oh for sure happy endings, all the way. I’ve never been one for movies that genuinely make me feel scared, there’s just truly no appeal to me. I enjoy the concepts of horror a lot, I think it’s very interesting and cool to hear about, but I really don’t have the nerves or stomach to watch horror movies for real. all the respect to the many many horror enthusiasts on this website, but it’s really the one genre I don’t think I would ever reach for. :/

any special talents?

well, I would say drawing, but I’m always very adamant that art does not come with innate talent but with hard practice just like every other skill.

although honestly, I think I would say I have a talent for writing. maybe that comes across as arrogant, but I feel like while I have put a lot of work into art to get better over time, I don’t really feel like writing is something I’ve seriously put thought into practicing, and yet I’ve always felt very confident with it?? who knows.
