The Blazing Silver Light of Paldea
Chapter 3: Pastelería
Silver and Blaze have a relaxing morning at the motel, then Silver battles Gym Leader Katy the Butterfly.
If Silver can cheese a Gym Test with his psychic abilities he will lmao.
I wish we could change into different shirts and pants besides our uniforms, so I'm letting Silver change out of his school uniform. If Team Star can do it, why can't we?
Warning: Brief nudity but it's not sexual at all, and slight misgendering, but it's unintentional and the misgenderer immediately apologizes.
🦋♧◇♧☆◇☆♧◇☆◇◇♧◇◇☆♧☆
Silver woke up to his Starter, Sprigatito, kneading his arm and begging to be pet. He laughed and ran his fingers through the Pokémon's fur.
"Spri!" He mewed to the hedgehog.
"You're hungry, huh, Catnip?" Silver chuckled. "I gotta get ready first."
They grabbed a clean change of clothes and went to the bathroom. They took a shower, freshened up, and got dressed, then got food for all of their Pokémon. When they went to check on Charlie, who was asleep in the fireplace, they noticed there was a second Charcadet next to him.
"BLAZE!" He cried out, running to her bed.
"Hmm, what is it..." The aforementioned cat mumbled tiredly.
"There– there– there's two Charlies..." Silver whimpered. He climbed onto Blaze's bed and buried his face into a pillow she wasn't using.
"Oh, um, this is awkward. That second Charcadet is mine." She explained. "Remember when I said Coal was my second Pokémon? That Charcadet was my first."
Silver sat up and wiped some sweat off of his forehead. "Haha, right. That makes sense."
He sat for a bit while Blaze got ready for the day. She got clean clothes from her bag, then went to take a shower. She dried herself off by superheating her body, then got dressed and went back to the main room.
"I think we should do laundry today. I'm running low on clean clothes." They said.
"Yeah, same. Maybe we can get some clothes at the next store we find, too." Silver agreed.
Silver chose League Points as his method of payment, then put a load of dirty clothes into the washing machine. It was a fancy machine that auto-dispensed detergent, so he only had to put laundry in and pay.
While they were waiting for the clothes to become clean, Blaze went out and bought some groceries. She brought back some pastries from Patisserie Soapberry and the two of them had breakfast and took their morning meds.
After an hour, the washing machine beeped, so Silver got the clothes out. He was going to put them in the dryer, but Blaze stopped him.
She grabbed the clean clothes and heated the air around them, and they dried rather fast. While Silver put more clothes into the washing machine, Blaze started separating their clean laundry. After the clothes were in and the machine was running, Silver joined her. They had the most trouble separating their pants and socks, but eventually got them sorted out.
"Maybe next time let's do our laundry separately." Silver chuckled.
After an hour, the two of them repeated the struggle of separating their clothes, then they got packed up, left the motel, and thanked the person running it. The two went to the Cortondo Gym, and Silver showed the person at the counter his ID.
"Silver from Uva Academy, before you can challenge Gym Leader Katy, you have to complete a test. Meet me at the field at the northeast of town for an explanation." He said.
Silver and Blaze followed him to the field.
"Your challenge, Silver, is to get that olive into that net. It's called the–"
"Like this?" Silver asked, using his psychokinesis to get the olive ball into the goal. Blaze nearly burst into laughter.
"Well, there's no rules against psychic powers as long as it's not from a Pokémon." The Gym tester said. "You pass. I'll get Katy."
The person left, then came back a few minutes later with the teal butterfly lady from the bakery.
"Hello, young ladies. You two were so polite at the bakery yesterday, it made my day." She told the kids. Silver cringed a bit.
"Ahem... I'm... not a girl..." He muttered.
"Sorry, sir... Um... I'm Katy..." The baker chuckled nervously.
"Wait, you're Katy the Gym Leader?!" Silver exclaimed. "You're amazing at baking!"
"Oh, thank you, muchacho." Katy said. She looked at the green olive-shaped ball in the net and chuckled. "I heard you turned the Olive Roll into the Olive Throw. A child with such a gifted power like yours shall ensure a bountiful harvest this year!"
"Um, thanks?" Silver said confusedly.
"Follow me, Gym Challenger." Katy told him. She flew up to a treehouse-style stadium, Silver flew behind her with his psychic powers, and Blaze walked up the ramp.
"You can do it, Silver!" The cat cheered.
The Gym Leader adjusted her hat, then reached into one of her pockets. "Nymble, sweetie, come out!"
A little grasshopper-like Pokémon appeared on the stadium.
"Go, Pecky!" Silver threw the Pokéball containing his Starly. "Use Wing Attack!"
Unfortunately, Nymble defeated Pecky, so Silver sent out Catnip, his Sprigatito. He, too, fell to the little grasshopper. Silver was very nervous. The stadium looked wooden, was on a tree, and his last Pokémon was a Fire-Type. He looked over to Blaze and saw her cheering.
"Go, Silver!!!" They shouted. They picked up their Eevee and let him watch Silver's next move. He knew what he had to do.
"Ummm... Ch-Charlie!" Silver hesitantly threw his Charcadet's Pokéball. "Use Ember..."
Charlie torched Katy's Nymble, and she sent in her Tarountula, who suffered the same fate.
"I'm so sorry!" He cried out.
Last was Katy's Teddiursa, who Terastalized into a Bug-Type. It took a few Embers, but the Fury Cutters and Slashes from Teddiursa didn't do much, so Charlie got a victory. Silver barely held back the tears that threatened to burst from their eyes.
Katy flew over to the victor and frowned. "Young man, you seem upset."
"Y-yeah... I'm... glad this tree didn't burn down. And I'm very, very, very sorry for brutally burning your Pokémon..." Silver spoke quietly. His quills were bristled and he was shaking. "I can repay you for causing their untimely deaths." A few tears fell from his eyes.
Katy chuckled and showed him that her Pokémon were fine by giving them Revives. He breathed a sigh of relief and did the same for his Pokémon.
"You also earned the Cortondo Gym Badge, and a free pastry of choice at my bakery." She told him as she gave him the first Badge.
"I'm... not hungry." They mumbled, turning away. They sat with Pecky and Catnip and tried to calm down.
Katy took the hint and told Silver she hoped to see him again, then flew back to her Gym. Silver sat for a while, then went over to Blaze.
"I... I don't want to train Charlie yet." He admitted.
Blaze smiled sweetly and offered to train him until Silver was ready. He nodded and gave them Charlie's Pokéball. The two of them camped out again that night before heading out to Mesagoza.

The House you were met with was unfamiliar, thank goodness Chanhee was here to give a quick tour of the house. You came across some familiar things, but most you didn’t recognize. Chanhee helped you explain the situation to your parents and you agreed to see each other sometime next week. They both had taken a lot of time off work to see you during your stay in the hospital, so you told them to just hold off for a while, promising them that you were fine.
You were thankful for the painkillers you had, or it would have been impossible to wash by yourself, though they made you feel a little drowsy. As a precaution, Chanhee stayed in case you had an accident by yourself. Getting cleaned up felt refreshing, but you didn’t take too long or your mind would wander. You stepped out of the shower covering yourself with a towel and stood in front of the mirror. Wiping the steam-filled mirror, you brought your face closer to the mirror, examining yourself for the second time today.
Your hand lightly grazed over a scabbed-up wound on your forehead. Sliding your hand down your fingers glide across your features, it’s similar but different. Turning your head at different angles you could see your looks had matured a little. It was you no matter how you poked and pulled at your skin. Letting these smaller changes bother you wasn’t going to help you any, so you backed away from the mirror and went out of the bathroom.
You looked around your room, Chanhee showed you around but it was just a quick introduction, you didn’t get to examine everything. The room consisted of a big dresser with a mirror hung behind it, a hanger rack, a queen-sized bed next to the big window that showed almost the whole of downstairs, and a smaller window with a view of outside, in front of the window was a small desk and chair. You looked at the things strewn about the top of the dresser. There were perfumes and colognes, lotions, makeup, and birth control. You took birth control before you met Haknyeon so you weren’t shocked to see it.
Picking it up you pop one out of the packaging swallowing the pill. Damn, how long has it been since I last took one? Hopefully, my next period isn’t too bad. The main reason you started taking birth control was to regulate your period and make it lighter, you weren’t sexually active. You weren’t against it you just hadn’t found someone you felt comfortable enough to go all the way with, your desire to do it wasn’t very high either. Your thoughts drifted to Haknyeon, have we… No! Not the time for this. I can worry about that later.
After a search through the dresser, you grab your underwear putting it on. You looked at the clothes hung up, some of them you recognized, some you didn’t but they were in your taste. You opt to put on some comfy clothes, it was still too early for pajamas. Going downstairs where Chanhee waits for you, he lays on your couch messing with his phone. Chanhee sits up making room for you. Taking the free spot you lean back sighing.
“Sorry for taking up your free day.”
“I was planning to visit you later anyway, I’m just glad you're back. I’ll leave when Haknyeon comes back, He should wake up soon enough.”
“So… tell me about this Fiance.” You looked at your ring finger staring at the indent left on it. Reminded by your action, Chanhee took your ring out of his pocket and handed it to you.
“Put it in your pocket. Find someplace to keep it later.” You followed his orders, putting it in your pocket. He kept the ring for safekeeping after finding out you discarded it. When he heard what you had said to Haknyeon in full, he was shocked and felt bad for both Haknyeon and you. He thought for a bit, “Haknyeon is kind, like, really kind, and caring to others, so much so to the point that he sometimes neglects himself. He can be very emotional. He is a smiley person, always a positive thinker. Honest to a fault at times. A bit of a worrier, but generally free-spirited and carefree. He is kinda a goofball with his friends. Just like you, a hard worker, he is always pushing himself. And his appetite, he is a foodie if I ever met one, he will literally eat anything...anything.” You took some time to process all that he said, trying to imagine the man you saw acting in the ways Chanhee mentioned.
“Hmm.” Hearing your awkward reply Chanhee changed the subject. Talking about miscellaneous things as time passed, you both eventually became hungry.
“I can order something, I don’t really feel like cooking and you shouldn’t try cooking yet.”
“Okay.” Chanhee gets up, going on his phone while pacing around the room. Unbeknownst to you, Chanhee text’s back Haknyeon.
C: Yes, I'm still with her, and glad you’re ok.
H: Thanks, Hyunjae is taking me back home now.
C: I’ll leave when you get here, also tell Hyunjae I said hi
H: will do.
After he finishes texting Haknyeon he glances back at you, now laying across the couch. Then he actually starts ordering food.
In the car sat Hyunjae driving, Sunwoo in shotgun, and Eric and Haknyeon in the back. After texting Chanhee and leaving the hospital the boys talked about all sorts of things to help Haknyeon get his mind off of you, though it didn’t seem to help much considering his replies would be shorter than normal. Then Haknyeon spoke first.
“Guys, can I just cry right now.” No one answered him as they felt lumps form in their throats. Eric reached over and gently wrapped his arms around Haknyeon. Taking this as his cue he held onto Eric and wept, his whimpers filled the car. Eric rubbed his back, crying silently along with him. Sunwoo shifted uncomfortably in his seat, not sure what to do with himself. Hyunjae gripped the wheel tighter, biting his lip. His friend was crying his heart out and he couldn’t do anything to help him. It was a situation completely out of everyone’s control.
Getting back home to you gave him a mix of emotions. He wanted nothing more than to have you back home, but he never expected you to be in such a condition. When they finally arrived at his house, Haknyeon texted Chanhee one last time before getting out of the car. Hyunjae, Sunwoo, and Eric got out of the car as well. They all surrounded Haknyeon, giving him words of encouragement.
“We’ll be here for you, just talk to us whenever you need.” Sunwoo put a hand on his friend’s shoulder, he gave a small squeeze.
“Thanks, guys. Chanhee is waiting, I'll go inside now.” They all gave him a big group hug before he went, and Haknyeon felt really grateful for his friends.
Chanhee checked his phone and got up from the table after stuffing a few more bites in his mouth. “I gotta go,” he says while covering his full mouth.
“He’s here already?” You wipe your mouth, also standing up.
"Yup, I'm sure he'll come in any second now. The two of you need to talk." You weren't sure what to say, it was very sudden. Chanhee hugged you quickly, "Hey it's gonna be okay, I promise." After pulling away then came the sound of the door being unlocked. In walked the man you met when you woke up. Your eyes met each other for a moment and he looked away at the approaching Chanhee.
“Hey, Chanhee.”
“Haknyeon, I’m glad you’re okay.” Chanhee went in for a hug and Haknyeon returned it. You watched the natural gesture. They must be close, you thought. They parted and Chanhee went to the door saying goodbye to the both of you, closing the door behind him. With that, you two were alone together for the second time today.
“We should talk shouldn’t we?” You said offering an awkward smile, feeling nervous.
“Yeah.” You moved back to the couch leaving the food on the table, you would take care of it later. Haknyeon followed after you but did not sit on the couch but instead on the floor, across the coffee table that was in front of the couch. Haknyeon checks your hand, the ring still missing from it. He clenched his fists in his lap, he should have expected that, but it still broke his heart to see.
“Today I’ve been told a lot of new information about myself and I’m not sure what to think of a lot of it. It seems surreal, like a dream, but everything I see just confirms it’s real. I- I want to try and remember these things about my life,” About the things I’ve accomplished. “But I need some time to adjust to everything here,” In this house with you. “I’m going to need some space, to think about what I want,” And I don’t know if I want you. Many words were left unsaid, but you didn’t know what else you could say?
“I- I understand. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable in your own home, so don’t worry, I won’t force you into anything.” Those words gave you a little comfort and you thanked him. “I will be going back to work tomorrow, so you probably won’t see me, but call me if you need anything.”
“Okay, sorry for the trouble in advance.” Haknyeon looked you in the eyes, you looked the same save for a few still healing scars, but your distant attitude towards him hurt even though he tried to prepare for it.
“I’m going to go take a shower.” He was generally a clean boy, but since your hospitalization taking care of himself was less of a priority. He would take care of himself when your mother would show concern every time your parents came to visit you. She would always be sure to cook him something and remind him to clean up saying things like, ‘When she wakes up, she’ll be so sad to see you like this, please take care of yourself.’ Thinking about her words now was like a laugh in the face, even if he looked his best it wouldn’t have mattered.
“Ah, then I’ll stay down here then.” The only shower in the house was in your shared room. Needless to say, you wouldn’t be waiting in the room for him.
As Haknyeon washed the filth from his body he thought about what he would do starting tomorrow. He didn’t need to go to work Saturday and Sunday, but he would so he could give you your desired space. He was going to do it for you, at least that’s what he told himself, it was true for the most part. Getting out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist, he walked to the big window next to the bed that exposed a view of downstairs. His eyes searched for you, finding you standing at the sliding door leading to the backyard, staring at something unknown. He turned and walked away so he could get changed. You felt eyes on you, so you turned around and looked at the window to the bedroom, but all you saw was the back of a head before it disappeared. You decided to sit back down on the couch before he came back down.
Haknyeon came back downstairs with clothes on and a towel hanging off his head. He roughly rubbed at his damp hair and sat in the same spot as before. He looked up at you the towel covering his head like a hood, he looked a little sad like that. “You can sleep in the bedroom, I can take the couch.”
“Oh, but-”
“You don’t want to sleep in the same room do you?” He was right, you didn’t, so you kept your mouth shut instead. “It’s fine, I understand. Besides, you are the recovering patient, not me.” Well technically, he also got discharged from the hospital today, but you knew what he was trying to say, you wouldn’t try to argue again.
“Okay, thank you. Um, if you’re hungry, Chanhee ordered some food, I put it away in the fridge.”
“Alright, thank you for letting me know.” Strangely enough, he wasn’t that hungry and didn’t really feel like eating. Going back upstairs to your room you look at the bed it was neatly made, you wondered if that was your doing or his. You looked out the window and your eyes looked at Haknyeon making his bed on the couch and then your eyes fell to the sill, it was dusty. Is that normal? No, surely I would clean it. How long has it been since someone has used this room? You decided to not think about it too deeply, you would clean it later. With those thoughts, you went into bed and let sleep take you.
You would never know that when Haknyeon would come home from the hospital, he couldn’t sleep peacefully. He would stay up through the night sitting in the living room thinking about you, wondering when you would wake up, waiting for visiting hours to start again. There would be points where he would fall asleep and he was haunted with nightmares of a crash he never witnessed. Sometimes you would call for help, but he could never reach you. He could only sleep better when he was with you, nightmares would still happen but they would be less often and they felt less traumatic. Thankfully tonight, for the first time in a long time, He dreamt of nothing. But it would be a short-lived peace.

WHAT MAKES IT WORTH IT- V
Tumblr media
Here's chapter 5! Leave some feedback for me.
Series Masterlist
Warnings: None
When you woke up you immediately felt the throbbing pain of your head and the offensive light burning through the lids of your eyes indicating that the curtains are open
You groaned in pain slowly attempting to sit up and get something to help nurse the aftermath of last night's drinking opening one eye lid first and turning to bedside stand where you found Tylenol and a glass of water sitting atop next to your glasses.
Deciding that glasses won't help you see any better in this condition you opted to drink 2 Tylenol pills and washed it down with some water  giving it a few minutes to take effect as you sluggishly made your way to the bathroom to fix yourself up, washing your face, brushing your teeth with the free toothbrush that came with the suite deciding to take a hot shower to ease up some tense nerves and wrapped yourself up in a bath robe right after
You spotted a plate of waffles and some coffee on the table in your room as you got out of the bathroom, it looked like it has been sitting there for a good 30 minutes but you eat it anyway and drank all the coffee, even making yourself a new one right after
Your hungover was slowly getting better and you could hear a faint sound of laughing and music but you weren't sure if it were coming from right now or if you were imagining it from last night's events
You looked around the room only to realize that it wasn't your room at all. It was very similar but had different shoes and different baggages, a little more messy
You tried to recall the events of last night trying to remember who you had come back with, you were clothed so nothing could have happened
And then it hit you like a lighting strike.
The bar. Drinking. That stranger. Dancing. Tom. Punching. The car ride and the conversation from last night
You couldn't remember if you kissed or not, you couldn't even remember falling asleep. You were freaking out at the possibility of him finding out your feelings
"Oh my god, y/n how are you so stupid?!?" you whispered angrily to yourself
"Ohmygodohmygodohmygod, what did i say? What did i do? What even happened?" you said nervously
You went to pick up your phone to see if any messages could give you a clue as to what happened last night only to be greeted by a couple messages from Zendaya, haz and Tom that gave you absolutely zero clues as to what may have happened last night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You groan miserably trying to think of what you could do next. You definitely can't leave the hotel room, the only way out is to face them.
You can't even call for help cause youknow that they'll just convince you to talk to Tom and you weren't sure how to do that just yet
So decidedly you stayed in that room, you had everything you needed anyways so you dug up one of Tom's shirts he'd wear on a normal day and one of his boxers cause you refuse to wear the dress you wore last night.
You clean up your surroundings to occupy yourself a little, fixing up Tom's clothes on the gound, folding and sorting. Fixing up the bed, cleaning up the table littered with disposable coffee cups and paper plates.
You finished that task quickly and grew bored as you sat on the bed thinking of what you could do next when you heard the door open, snapping you out of your trance and quickly turning to see who it was
Tom was there leaning against the door frame with a sly smirk on his face
"When do you plan to come out?" he asked teasingly
"We'll hopefully, never if I'm gonna be honest." you muttered quietly
"hmm well if it helps they went out, got lunch I think" he said walking in and closing the door behind him.
"Why didn't you come with?" you asked
"Well, I couldn't exactly leave you here to starve now can I?" He said amused
"I could've take care of myself after you left you know." you replied
"And risk not talking about last night? You're not getting away that easy, darling" He said walking closer to you stopping and the foot of the bed
You shivered slightly at the pet name, god ypu missed being called that with his voice
"What's there to talk about?" you asked nonchalantly 9.30am
"Ah, so we're gonna play that game are we?" he said raising an eyebrow.
"why are you avoiding me?" he asked blatantly
"I'm not, how can I, I'm your personal assistant" You said
"Exactly, you're my assistant so why are you avoiding me? " Tom asked expectantly
"What does it matter anyway?" you asked giving up
"It matters to me." Tom said simply
"It's not that important anyway, I'm still doing my job correctly." you respond avoiding the question
"It's not about your job, y/n. I don't care if you decide to book me for the same thing 3 times or if you decide to not let me show up on set for a week, you'd keep your job if I had anything to do about it" Tom said cooly
"Then what is this about?" You asked looking at him in the eyes
"You and me." He said simply.
"You and me? Wha—What you and me?" You asked surprised
"Don't act like there's nothing going on between us, don't pull that on me." He said his jaw clenched
"Elaborate" You said inching closer
"Do you remember nothing from last night?" He said walking towards the side where you were sitting.
"I remember some of it." you confirmed.
"so you don't remember coming here?" he asked
"Nope. I've been trying to" you answered honestly
"huh." Tom stepped closer in your direction and lowered his head at your level, your faces inches away from each other "Maybe this will jog your memory."
Memories of last night came pouring in, your faces inches away from each other just like right now but still you couldn't remember if you kissed just the way your heart was beating out your chest and the overwhelming feeling to pull his face towards you and his hot breath reeked of beer but turned you on nonetheless.
"I remember this part, but not what comes after." you said so quietly it almost felt like a soft gasp
"Interesting" he said smirking "Do you wanna find out?" He asked his eyes locked on your lips
"I wouldn't mind too much." you said almost panting your eyes drawn to his lips your mimd littered with his soft curls between your fingers and his lips locked on yours.
"Care to guess?" He asked daringly
"No, it's hard to make assumptions" You said tilting your head just a little
"Hmm, I don't think you want to know that badly" he hummed tauntingly
"Hmm but you do." You fired back.
"You have a point" He admitted
"I know, I always do" you said
He pulled away from you and walked 2 steps back
"I think I'll keep that information to myself a little longer." He said.
"Hmm, can you live with yourself that way?" You asked jokingly
"We'll see." he shrugged his arms crossed
"What were you doing out there by the way?" you asked curiously
"Oh, deja was just teaching me a few dance moves" He answered
"You still dance?" You raised a brown at him amused
" 'Course I do, love. Why would I risk losing a talent like that?"  he said exaggerated
"I dunno, Movie star. Why would you?" You teased
"Don't call me that" Tom groaned pulling his head back
"Aw don't like being called that, tommy?" You said teasing him even more
"Enough, Princess. You've had your fun, let's get some lunch."
"I'm wearing your boxers." you deadpanned
"we'll order in." he said
"Then why can't I stay here" you pouted
"Cause, the dining room is outside not here" He reasoned
"But it's comfier here and a table is right there." you convinced
"We can always come back later, darling"
"Why? am I staying the night?" You asked
"If you want to" he shrugged
"I'll decide later. Show me those moves first" you said biting your lip
He rolled his eyes at you but pulled out his phone from the pocket of his sweatpants and unlocking it
He sat next to you and handed you the phone
It was a video of him and deja dancing the controlla challenge
"Damn boy, what them hips do?" You laughed
"Wouldn't you like to know?" He said suggestively looking at you
You turned your head to face him and you immediately felt his breath fanning your face
"Hmm, I think I could just ask one of your girls." you said thoughtfully
"I don't have any girls." He said
"sorry, don't believe it" you shrugged
"You are literally with me all the damn time, you know the ins and outs of my schedule." He says flatly
"your schedule doesn't cover every minute." you pointed out.
"Those minutes are spent with you. On the bed. Or with Harrison out drinking." He deadpans
"And whose to say you don't pick up some chick when you're out drinking?" you ask
"You. You pick us up when we're drunk off our asses or not." he states.
"True." you nod
"see, now c'mon I'm hungry." He says pulling you away from the bed.
"Fine" you let out an exaggerated sigh and Tom rolled his eyes playfully at you.
You decided on Thai takeaway and turned on a bad romcom for the both of you to make fun of.
"Why were you avoiding me?" Tom brought the conversation up again.
"Did we kiss?" you countered the question.
"If I answet your question, will you answer mine?" he asked
"If you answer two of my questions, I might."
"Now that's just unfair."
"All is fair in love and war" You shrugged
"Fine." he said turning slightly to face you.
"You gonna tell me, pretty boy?" you ask holding his chin up with one finger
"thinking about it, actually" he muttered. "What's your second question?" he asked.
"Hmm. Why'd you wanna kiss me?" you asked tilting your head curiosity filled your eyes
"You really have to ask that?" He asked raising a brow an amused smile playing oh his lips.
"Well, I wouldn't if I knew the answer?" You fired back
"Have a guess?" He ask
"A few." you replied.
"How many exactly?" he asks
"Hmm, around 2 or 3?" You hummed
"Care to tell me?" He answered
"Nah." you say shaking your head slightly
"you really wanna know?"
"Yes."
"I can't be the only one who sees it."
"See what?"
"I mean, Z noticed it, Jacob too, Even Haz!" He said raising his hands in disbelief
"See what?" you ask curiously
"I'm pretty sure everyone sees it." he said unbelievably
"What?" you ask again
"I think I like you?" he finally says.
What.

The Life of Elara Ware : Chapter 2
Elara sat on her butterfly patterned bedsheets, a heavy leather bound book in her lap. She was studying alchemy this year and wanted to get a basic understanding of it before school started. She was lost in concentration when her bubble of thought was burst by light tapping at her window. She looked up to see a shabby brown owl rapping its beak against the glass. She smiled. "Hi Errol". Elara crossed her room and opened the window. The old bird half hopped, half collapsed inside. Looking out her window Elara saw it was now starting to get dark. The sun retreated below the horizon casting shadows of deep orange and red across the sky. It was a beautiful summer's evening, a light breeze provided respite from the unforgiving heat of the day. Errol lazily nipped at her hand letting out an exasperatedly quiet hoot. "Sorry boy, here" She detached the tightly rolled parchment from his leg then opened the empty bird cage perched on top of her drawers, gesturing for him to go inside. Errol happily obliged helping himself to water. The Wares family owl Alizeh had to stay in Elaras room as her mother couldn't stand her hooting. But she was currently out hunting and Errol looked thankful for the hospitality.
Elara undid the scroll expecting to be greeted with another message from George, so she was surprised to find it wasn't his handwriting at all. 'Hello Elara. I know George has been in contact with you but I dont know exactly how much he's said or not said so I thought it best to write you myself. You are of course still welcome to come and stay tomorrow. Though I must warn you it'll be a bit of a tight squeeze. My eldest sons Bill and Charlie are home and are in the twins room meaning Fred and George are currently in with Ron and Harry. Oh yes, Harry's staying with us as well I hope you dont mind. You'll be in Ginnys room, but again, tight squeeze. We have Hermione staying in there too. I hope this is all okay with you. I've been told to expect you by flu powder at about 11. Our house is called The Burrow, I don't know if George had said. Anyway it's all still a go is what I'm trying to say and we'll take you to Kings Cross as planned. Look forward to seeing you Molly Weasley'
Elara smiled. The note really was unnecessary but she couldn't blame Mrs Weasleys lack of trust in George giving her all the correct details. She quickly scribbled a reply on the back of the note. 'Thanks again Mrs Weasley this is really kind of you. 11 o'clock. Flu powder. I'll see you then'
It took some convincing and several treats but Elara finally managed to get Errol out of Alizehs cage and attach the note to his leg. She wasn't sure if Errol was quick enough to get the note to Mrs Weasley before tomorrow morning but it was worth a try. She sent him on his way then made her way downstairs to the living room. There she found her mother silently working her way through stacks of documents she had laid out on the sofa. Her long brown hair was wound into a messy bun on top of her head and her black rimmed glasses were perched on the end of her narrow, slender nose. She was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a light blue t shirt that hung off one shoulder. She was sat cross legged, brows furrowed in concentration. She hadn't noticed Elara walk in.
"Watcha doin?" Elara said. Her mother sent several pages scattered across the wooden floor as she jumped in surprise.
"Jeez sweet pea don't sneak up on me like that!"
Elara laughed and stepped forward to help as her mum started chasing papers around the room. "sorry. I wasn't aiming to scare you"
"yeah? then why are you laughing at me?" Her mother retorted as she tried to smack Elara on the backside with a recovered sheet. She tried to put on a disgruntled face but she couldn't hide her smile as her daughter dodged her attacks.
"hey! I'm helping!" Elara replied, smiling goofily back as she hopped out of her mothers reach.
"causing mayhem more like"
Elara folded her arms defiantly, a devious grin on her lips
"fine. I wont help then"
Elara put up her hands in mock surrender and started walking towards the door.
"hey! not so fast. This is your doing so you can come tidy you cheeky bugger"
Elara complied with an exaggerated curtsy as her mother started to reorganize the pages.
"honestly. all I came down for was to tell you I'm going to the Weasleys at 11. now you've got me clearing up like your personal slave" Elara put on her best dramatic sigh which made her mother chuckle.
"think how I feel. it took me ages to put all this in order now I've got to do it again"
"hmm, well if you will insist on throwing things around the house"
"oi!" her mother retorted but once again she couldn't stifle her smile.
"11 did you say?" She added after a moment.
"yup"
"how were you going to get there?"
"flu powder" then at the look of confusion on her mothers face she continued "that's the one where you travel through the fireplace. wosh" Elara flailled of her arms to illustrate.
"oh right. the one that scares me to death you mean?"
"that's the one"
"great!" Her mother gave her a double thumbs up but her eyes showed her disapproval. Elara rolled her eyes.
"mum how many times? it's safe. I've been using flu powder since I was 7. Everyone does"
Her mother sighed, nodding her head reluctantly "I know, I know"
They picked up the last few pages in lazy quiet before Elara went to kitchen to make them both a cup of tea. When she returned she found her mother staring into the currently empty fireplace like she was waiting for something. Elara silently stood by her side handing her a floral patterned mug. She looked at her mothers face obviously deep in thought. She looked almost upset. "mum?"
It was several moments before she answered.
"you know it doesn't matter how impressive and mystical and amazing all this is. Theres still a massive part of me that wished you took after me, not your dad."
Elara couldn't deny she felt offended, and it must've shown on her face
"no no that's not what I meant. Oh hunny your magics incredible and you make me proud every day. Please know that. It's just. I dont know. I can't lie. I'd be a lot less stressed if you just grew up to be a hairdresser or something. Something ordinary. Something risk free" Elara felt confused at the direction the conversation had taken. Quick to defend the life she loved so much she answered
"Well wheres the fun in that? mum I'm perfectly safe in the wizarding world. you must know that. it may still be weird to you but its who I am and its normal for us."
Her mother looked at her for a moment. Then smiled a strange, sad sort of smile. She started to say something, then stopped herself sipping on her tea instead. Elara could see a million thoughts spiraling behind her mothers eyes. Then, finally "yeah. yeah of course you are." Then without a word she turned and left.
As she stood alone in front of the mantelpiece, Elara had the feeling like she was missing something. Then a most unwelcome thought; that there was something her mother wasn't telling her. Her mother had always been a worrier. Fretted over her wellbeing day and night. It never bothered her. In fact Elara Ware had grown so used to her mothers fussing she almost didn't notice it anymore. But now that she stopped to think, since returning from school that summer it'd seemed to get a lot more frequent. Obsessively checking in on Elara through the day. Restricting when she could leave the house, not letting her go alone. At first Elara thought this was just her fear of her baby growing up. Now that she'd sat her exams, chosen a career path, got a boyfriend. But now she wasn't sure. Whatever it was, her mother was definitely upset by it.
The next morning Elara woke up later than she wanted to. She ran downstairs and inhaled some cereal so fast she was sure she must have set a new world record. Then back upstairs for a hurried shower, which unsurprisingly resulted in shampoo in her eyes. Swearing repeatedly and dripping water onto the tiles as she went. Elara stumbled blindly across her en suit reaching for a towel. cursing herself for not putting one out first. Quickly drying herself off she threw open her wardrobe, looking at her limited selection of clothes. most of it was packed in her trunk. She glanced out the window. It was raining and with the rain had brought cooler weather. She picked out her favourite pair of jeans and a loose white shirt with lace criss-crossed across the back.
It was only after she had triple checked her trunk, glancing at the clock and seeing she still had 30 minutes to spare, that Elara finally allowed herself to relax a bit. Mentally scolding herself for waking up late and turning her morning into a mad rush. She was gazing at her reflection in the mirror and without realizing found herself fussing with her hair. She couldn't explain why. Elara had never really cared what others though of how she looked before. Yet there she sat tucking her brown hair behind her ear, the pulling it forward, then tucking it back again. Perhaps it was the nerves of seeing her boyfriend again after weeks apart. After all they hadn't been dating that long when school ended for the holidays. Or perhaps it was the stress of meeting his whole family. But then again she already knew half of them. She may never have spent much time with Ron, Percy or Ginny but they were already acquainted. Then of course theres Fred. the twins came as a pack. you rarely get one without the other and she'd been going to school with them for 5 years.
She tried to shake the nerves, focussing instead on the thing she'd always liked about herself. She gazed into her eyes which were the only ones like them she'd ever known. Her right eye was a cool blue, like a river. Her left eye a pale light green flecked with yellow. The muggle doctors said it was a genetic condition with a weird name she could never remember. it didn't matter. Elara loved her eyes. they made her different. Different was good. She looked at the clock again. 20 minutes. She picked up her trunk which she'd played at the foot of her bed and began to haul it down the stairs.
"you'll write wont you"
"nah I won't bother I'll just leave you in suspense the whole year"
"Elara Ware!"
"I'm joking! I'm joking! C'mon mum I'm in my 6th year now. I'm a big girl. I'll be fine. and I'll be back before you know it."
Her mother sighed and pulled Elara into a bone crushing hug. "I know. I just worry" Elara chuckled "yeah funnily enough I've noticed"
Her mum ignored this "I love you" she mumbled into Elaras hair. "I love you too" Just then Elara noticed the time on the clock "ooh mum I've got to go. its time" Elara wriggled out of her mums grip and stepped into the fire place where her trunk was waiting. "mum the powder"
"oh yeah right"
Her mother grabbed a small clay pot from ontop of the book case. It was peculiar in shape, unpainted and unvarnished. Elara had very vague memories of making it at muggle school when she was about 7 years old. Inside was the floo powder. Elara grabbed a handful and offered one last smile to her mum. "Bye mum"
"Bye darling"
Elara dropped the floo powder onto her feet and shouted "The Burrow" With that she started to spin. Faster in faster as her living room dissolved into a blur of colour. But just before she lost sight of her mother completely she saw it again. The same sad look in her mothers eyes. She was trying to hide it but still it was unmistakably there. Why? what was Elara not understanding? Before she could even fathom the answer the spinning stopped. She was no longer in her living room. She stepped out onto a well worn rug to a wall of welcoming red headed smiles. and there standing the closest the one she was most excited to see. beaming the brightest of all "miss me?" Said George

No one answered my question. I glanced at my men, but none of them spoke.
I said. Where the fuck is-
Amico mio Manjiro! Don't be vulgar yeah? Come here come here.
Frowning at Dante's antics, I tried to find Kakucho, Koko, the Haitani brothers or even Akashi. But no one was there.
Dante, where is she?
Listen Manjiro, I'm gonna bring you to her, alright. But she's not..okay. the medics are dealing with her at the moment and-
What happened?
Poisoned by a dagger. She fainted.
Deadly?
I don't think so. But extremely aggressive. C'mon
Letting Dante bringing me to the room Vee was in, he opened the door.
There were the guys. And Vee, laying on the metallic table, a sick look on her face. Her eyes were closed and her body bruised. Looking at her legs, I noticed the wound on her thigh. Must be where the knife was.
What happened?
I asked a second time but louder than before.
Dante's sniper shot the man, dead instantly. I arrived right after, taking her with him and to the doctors. The others joined me before you.
Passing a hand on my face, I nodded, thanking them. I knew when to be grateful, and in that case, they saved her.
Approaching her silhouette, I brushed my fingers over her face, not daring to touch her, scared to hurt her more. It was because of me. All of that. It was true.
Is she stabilised? Turning to the doctor, I was waiting for his answer.
We don't know yet Mister Sano. But probably. She won't die.
Sighting with relief, I looked over Ran and Rindou.
Thank you both. Without you, Bonten wouldn't have known where to search. You will definitely get a salary increase.
What about me then?
Huh? Koko? Eh you know what. Might increase all of your salaries because you did well today. Bring Vee back to our building to treat her with the equipment required.
You should take a shower, Manjiro. I don't think Vee will be happy to see you with all that blood on your body.
Gazing at Dante, I quickly analysed the state I was in.
Yeah you might be right
Oh and Manjiro?
Yeah Kakucho?
Earlier..., Venus said she liked you. Thought you would want to know
Throat tightening at his words, I absently nodded again. That would make my decision more difficult.
I'm gonna go take a shower at my place quickly. Will meet you all at Bonten's building. Dante, what d'you wanna do?
Hmm. The mission is over, but do call me when the girl wakes up.
Will do, see you later
Waving at them, I left the place. I couldn't bear the sight of Vee in that state, and thinking that I was the one responsible... Sanzu quickly called me after saying that Yami was being brought to our torture room, and Ran picked Natalie up. I didn't trust anybody besides my executives, so these missions were only for them.
Eventually arriving at my penthouse, I took notice of the situation. I'll have to clean all that later. Quickly taking my shower, I observed the blood mixing with water, creating pinkish liquid. I hated myself for what Vee was going through. I wasn't good for her. She was at risk on an daily basis. Moreover, the Yamaguchi-gumi wasn't completely destroyed. Yami was probably the one in charge of this building, but their big boss was still somewhere in Japan.
I stayed a bit longer than intended, cleaning, sorting out the broken glass and wooden chairs.
Few hours have passed and my ringtone surprised me.
Kakucho?
Venus is awake, and she's asking for you
I'm coming
Heart missing a bit at his words, I hung up and rushed to my door. I wanted to see her so much.
It was almost dawn, and that's when I realised that everything happened in less than a day. The hairdresser, Natalie sucking Haru's cock, and Vee getting kidnapped.
At that moment, I only hoped Vee was alright.
-Mikey
I'm good too 🥰 I'll probably go out this afternoon! Have you eaten? Drunk enough water?🤨
out of all the things to remember this man is thinking about nat giving sanzu some head. like SIR the plot of the movie’s being lost
Blinding white greeted me when I opened my eyes and after hours of being submerged in darkness, it hurt to see.
Somebody turn off the sun, I rasped, voice hoarse from not being used in a while.
The nurse, overjoyed at my response, rushed over to me just after yanking the blinds closed. You’re awake! How do you feel?
Thirsty. Immediately a cup was thrust in front of my face, which turned out to be water. The coolness of it was very much appreciated. The entire time the nurse kept staring at me as if I were some specimen to examine, or something that would collapse and fall apart if she looked away. Uh-
My voice snapped her out of her hypnosis. Oh yes! I’ll go and get one of the executives for you right now.
I laid back in wait, thinking of everything we’d been through. How the days with Mikey were so good and then… shit. How Natalie was the mole. The torture… I held a hand over the wound on my thigh over the sheets. I didn’t even want to touch it.
My attention turned to the door when somebody walked through it. It was the exec who rescued me, but I still didn’t know his name. Scarface?
The nurse told us you were awake. How do you feel?
Like I wanna get out of here, I admitted, absolutely serious. He smiled as though I was joking though.
Understandable. Nobody likes hospitals. I went ahead and called Mikey once the nurse told me you woke up.
Just his name sent a rush through my chest, sending it in an uneven beat. Mikey. Manji. I wanted nothing more to see his face, touch him, hug him and never leave his arms. I needed so much comfort right now. I needed him. Nobody from my old life would understand, could possibly begin to comprehend what I’ve been through. But he did.
Thank you, I said after a while of being in my head. For rescuing me. I overheard the doctors saying the dagger was poisoned before I went under. If you didn’t find me it probably could have made its way to my heart and killed me. So thank you.
You’re our boss’s girl, therefore your life is among the highest priority in Bonten.
My face grew hot at that. Boss’s girl? I didn’t know how to answer that, so I did what I did best: change the subject. I never got your name.
Kakucho. He smiled. Get well soon, Venus. Mikey needs you, he said before leaving.
The words froze me to the bed. He needed me? And how could Scar—Kakucho just say something like that and then leave? Now the thought of seeing Mikey made me nervous. The Yamaguchis were no longer a problem right? So, technically, Mikey had no need to protect me anymore. I shoved down the sadness creeping up my throat.
One thing at a time, Venus, I scolded myself for getting sad. Seeing Mikey’s face would be good enough for you for now. Everything else comes later.
I kept repeating that mantra as I waited for him. When a knock came at my door my heart dropped. Come in, I said, and he stepped in. It was him. Mikey, my Mikey, but his hair color was different. Black. I immediately remembered him asking what color I would’ve liked to see on him. I couldn’t stop crying. He had done the recoloring for me, and my heart fluttered at that.
See? Black is your color, I whispered through my tears.
