Requested? Jack being corny as hell, mentions of smut but no actual depictions and Miriam getting drunk 🤭

Word Count:

Miriam reached to her Fendi bag and pulled out her sunscreen. She squirted some on her legs and rubbed them before doing the same on her arms. She swapped the sunscreen body for the face balm sunscreen and rolled some on her face. She pulled out her pomegranate lip balm and dabbed some on her lips. She checked herself out once more and saw the hair claw holding onto dear life so she took it off, knowing that she should have pulled her into a bun. Hair claws never worked with her unruly curls.

She closed her eyes, mentally preparing herself to walk over to the sun. She was sitting with Maggie and the girls from Jack's friend group when he waved her over. She handed Diana her bag. As she walked to the field tied the cashmere sweater around her shoulders so she would look more out together. She was wearing a simple white top with denim shorts and some Prada loafers. She was more dressed for the country club rather than a kickball game.

"What took you so long?" Jack asked.

Miriam didn't answer him right away. She moved him so his back was facing the sun, blocking the sun for her. "What?"

"Run some passes with me." He said.

"I'm wearing loafers." She said, holding her leg out.

"I've seen you kick a ball in heels." He placed his hands on his hips.

"Fine," she sighed dramatically. "But we going to the shade."

Jack nodded. He followed behind her, taking in her ass in her shorts. He reached behind her and hugged her, lifting her up. He bent his neck and kissed her face.

"Jack!" She squealed, giggling.

He tossed her in the air so when he caught her she was facing him. Miriam giggled again and wrapped her arms around him, leaning down to kiss him. They were both aware that this was the most PDA they've ever done. Even more knowing Jack's fans were in the stands watching and recording his every move. They pulled away and Jack grabbed the nearest red ball.

He kicked the ball to Miriam. She caught it with the side of her foot and bounced on the top of her foot then kicked it up to her knee. She bounced the ball on her knee and did the same.

"You know you're supposed to kick it back, right?" Jack rolled his eyes.

"Ten," she kicked the ball back at him, but he didn't catch it.

Miriam giggled watching him jog for the ball.

Jack came back and tried to do the same tricks she did, but failed. So he stuck with the simple bounces. They passed the ball back and forth for a while before Jack had to go with his team.

Miriam went to sit back with the girls. She hugged Taylor Rooks. They only waved at each other in passing, not properly greeting each other because Taylor was interviewing. Miriam's mood was quickly soured when a woman from the opposite team walked up to Jack with her hands clasped behind her back. She bounced on the balls of her feet, giggling extra hard at whatever Jack was saying. She wanted to yell 'he's not as funny as you make hin out to be' but she knew better than to make a scene at a charity event.

"You need this." Taylor said, passing her her Phocus can.

Without thinking Miriam took a generous sip. She coughed once she realized she wasn't just drinking strawberry flavored static water.

"What is that?" Miriam asked the sports journalist.

"I have no idea, Di just added a bunch of stuff." She shrugged.

Miriam snorted and took another sip. This time she was able to drink it properly. It tasted like a strawberry margarita with sparkling water.

"Okay that's good." She giggled, passing Taylor back her drink.

Diana turned back to them holding four small Buzzballz bottles. "I also have regular tequila, sour apple flavor and piña colada flavor."

"Give me regular tequila." Miriam said.

She grabbed an orange Phocus can from the cooler and chugged half of it. Her right eye twitched slightly from the drink, but she poured some of the buzzballz into it. It didn't take long for Miriam to get tipsy. She finished that can and made herself three more of the same combination. She was a giggling mess.

"Another?" Diana asked her.

"I'm cutting myself off. If Jack sees me tipsy he won't let me suck his dick later." Miriam said bluntly.

"Yeah, let's stop before you talk about how big my son is." Jack's mom giggled.

"Okay but like, I just wanna thank you for that. He's made me–"

Diana covered Miriam's mouth. "Girl, shut up." She laughed.

They changed the topic and talked about the Barbie movie. Jack had rented out the theater where he held the White Men Can't Jump premiere and the whole group watched the movie then. They all cheered when Miriam's song came out. They haven't had time to dissect the movie until now. Miriam zoned out and rested her head on Diana's shoulder, dozing off.

Jack came by with a hot dog and cup of Dippin Dots for Miriam. She only had her iced coffee in her system and he had seen her make her little cocktails with Phocus. He crouched down at level and shook her shoulder. Diana, Taylor, the other girls and even Jack's mom gave him a warning look to not wake Miriam up, but he ignored them.

"Mhm," she opened one eye.

"Close your eyes." Jack said.

"I just had them closed." Miriam whined.

"I have a surprise for you." He said, holding the cup of Dippin Dots behind him.

"You can't just whip out your big dick, we're in public." She said.

"Miriam, just close them." He sighed.

"Okay, damn." She frowned.

She did as she was told. Jack reached for her hand and placed the cup in her hand. She opened her eyes and they teared up when she saw the cup of Dippin Dots.

"Where did you get this?" She said, taking a spoonful.

"At the concession stand." Jack pointed behind him. He also placed the hot dog with a few ketchup packets and a mayo packet. "Eat this too."

"I'm not a child." Miriam frowned.

"Bro, you only had an iced coffee before you started drinking. I'm not leaving until you finish."

Miriam unwrapped the hot dog and prepared it how she liked it. Personally she liked her hot dogs, Mexican style: bacon wrapped wienie, topped with pico de gallo, grilled onions and peppers, and lastly with mayo and ketchup on top. But she doubted that they had those in Kentucky. She ate in silence alternating between her Dippin Dots and hot dog with Jack standing over her.

"Was that so hard?" Jack asked when she finished eating.

Miriam rolled her eyes and went to toss her trash. She reached for her bag and cleaned her hands with a wet wipe. She grabbed the sunscreen and pulled Jack down to her level. She lathered him up in it then she took off his hat so she could get his face as well. His face didn't react well to the roll-on balm she used.

"Okay, now go beat the girls who laugh too hard at what you say." She said, touching up her lip balm.

"Didn't know you were playing." He said in a playful tone.

"You're not funny." Miriam deadpanned.

Jack leaned in, kissing her neck and said, "I can laugh the panties offa you."

"No you can't."

Miriam couldn’t stop laughing. Her laughter got to the point where she wasn't even making sounds. She was just folded over shaking.

"It wasn't that funny, Miriam." He rolled his eyes.

But it was. The one time he didn't wear a shirt under his jersey he got last name and jersey number etched on to his back thanks to the bright sun. Miriam had offered to get his back as well but he shrugged her off, saying he only needed to worry about the exposed skin. Little did he know his back was also exposed. Fortunately for him only his back was burnt, the rest of his body wasn't.

"Face down ass up." Miriam said, holding a tube of aloe vera gel that she got from the mini skincare fridge in their bathroom.

"Give a guy a warning if you wanna fuck their ass." He said, laying across the bed.

"Want me to fuck your ass?" She wiggled her eyebrows at him.

He shook his head, "I'm still recovering from last time."

"Jack, that was like five months ago." She rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, yeah." He waved her off.

Miriam knelt beside him and squirted a generous amount of aloe vera gel on his back. She took off a hair tie off her wrist and did an upside-down french braid on Jack so she wouldn't get gel in his curls. She rubbed all over his back then she applied more pressure onto him. She worked her fingers into his shoulder blades, making him groan.

"You gotta lay like this for fifteen minutes then you can wash it off." Miriam said when she finished.

She walked back to the bathroom and as she passed the bed, she felt a hard smack on her ass. Miriam turned to Jack, who had the biggest smirk on his face, with her mouth open wide.

"You can't just walk around with your ass out like that and not expect to pay the boyfriend tax." Jack said, gesturing to her outfit.

Miriam wasn't wearing much. Just some white cheeky panties and a matching white cami top.

"You're annoying." She said, rolling her eyes before sprinting out of their bedroom.

She came back with fruit rollup.

"You're not sucking my dick that." Jack told her.

The first and only time he let Miriam try a tiktok trend was when she saw a tiktok about wrapping a fruit roll up around their partners dick and going to town with it. Jack was never the type to discourage head giving methods so he agreed when Miriam asked if they could try it. It was fun at first but eventually they both got annoyed because it took a long time. Miriam ended throwing the fruit rollup away and they both went to bed annoyed and horny.

"How presumptuous of you." She said, laying on her stomach, perpendicular to Jack.

"Mhm." He replied.

Miriam opened her iPad and loaded Halle Bailey's The Little Mermaid and continued her book from where she left off. Jack was reading his script, memorizing his lines. He scooted himself closer so he was laying on top of Miriam and using her ass as a pillow. He mindlessly toyed with a loose string on her panties. He couldn't concentrate on the script so he placed it on the nightstand next to their bed. He looked over to Miriam. She was humming along to For the First Time while she read her book and bit into her snack. It amazed Jack how she was able to multitask. Miriam claimed it was just her undiagnosed ADHD.

The ten minutes had passed and Jack hopped in the shower and rinsed off the aloe vera gel. He did his nighttime routine then got back in bed. Miriam was now laying on her back in the middle of the bed with her iPad propped on her nightstand while she read.

Jack plopped on top of her. "Give me attention." Which was his way of asking for sex because he was bored and horny.

"I can't when you're top of me, suffocating." She mumbled.

He sat up and took her book, doggy earring it. He paused the movie and locked her iPad so now she could give him her undivided attention.

Jack rubbed his hands together as he knelt in front of her body. "Where to begin?" He asked, smirking.

With that smirk alone Miriam knew she was in for a long night.

Watching Hannibal for the first time S2E7-E8

Episode 7

Will is free everybody, but given his mental state, maybe he should stay in prison. The boy is unwell, justifiably so. Miriam Lass, now equipped with a cool robot arm, also not doing well. However is still training with the FBI, after two years of psychological torment from Hannibal. We love a motivated queen.

Jack really shows up in this episode, before Will even leaves the asylum property. and is all like, "We're still friends right... Pookie bear come home the kids miss you." and Will still goes to the cabin where they found Miriam. Granted it is not for Jack, it's so he can catch Hannibal, and after sniffing around the Love Shack, Will diagnoses Hannibal as just being a whimsical little guy. He's just a theatrical little scamp. Where you see a living person Hannibal sees an art exhibit.

(Headcanon: Hannibal is a fan of Marina Abramovic.)

Anyway, Jack is now leaning toward Hannibal, maybe being the Ripper, especially after talking with Will. The Sassy Science boys even find a fingerprint that matches Hannibal's on a flower petal. Hey, you know who else fits the profile of the Ripper.

Now, they are correct, that being said. You find a fingerprint of the man, YOUR BEST GUY, has been pointing to for weeks, and just go "Know what? This other guy is also pretty whimsical." I won't completely fault them for this because Chiton on paper looks suspicious, especially considering his own unethical practice of implanting memories in people. Ignoring that...Chilton goes home and finds Gideon's body in his guest room.

Hannibal was clearly keeping Gideon alive, and sclicing pieces of him off like a leftover Christmas ham. I just feel the need to clarify that.

Chilton books it, but, Hannibal is already in the house. In his plastic murder suit. On top of this, there are two FBI agents outside, waiting for Chilton. Hannibal proceeds to knock out Chilton and super-murder the two agents. He then dips, leaving Chilton to hang with three dead bodies. Just like a goofy whimsical guy would.

Chilton is taken in for questioning, and Miriam freaks out, Is convinced this is the Ripper right in front of her and shoots him in the face.

...Oh also, Will tries to kill Hannibal, decides not to do that, but does want to continue seeing Hannibal for his therapy.

Because these two girls like to play 4D chess. Personally, I started eating the game pieces long ago and probably would have shot the bastard. But who am I to question art.

Side note. There's a moment between Alana and Will, and she's all mad that he tried to murder Hannibal from prison. Will's response is "Girl... ya boyfriend Eats people...please do not talk to me or my dogs ever again." He didn't say it out loud but I saw it in his eyes.

Ep 8

Now, I'm not a doctor or a veterinarian, but I don't think people go in horses. I am also fairly certain, that to put a person inside a horse would require breaking some bones. Then again, I eat chess pieces, so what do I know. We're gonna circle back to the horse incident first let's talk about Jack and Will

The episode opens with Jack and Will Ice fishing. Clearly, these too are talking about catching Hannibal. When I'm not busy shoving game pieces down my throat, I can catch on to obvious fishing metaphors. Isn't Jack's wife dying of cancer...could this conversation not happen over a phone call. Priorities Jack. Anyway, they take the fish to Hannibal, and he cooks them dinner. The way this man plates these fish is appalling an octopus is involved. Octopus and trout, how did it take these people so long to realize he's a lunatic.

They sit down to that horror show and have a little chit-chat about how their all friends, and Hannibal and Will are going to put the whole attempted murder behind them.

We also meet Margot Verger, of the Verger slaughterhouse, which is worth millions. She is justifiably traumatized because her brother Mason has been abusing her their whole lives. Abusing her in ways I won't describe here, but I trust you understand. Also, she is gay, and a woman, So her stupid dead sexist bigot father left everything to her brother because only straight people with penises can slaughter hogs.

Hannibal is her therapist, and she wants to murder her brother. Hannibal is very enthusiastic about that idea.

Also, her brother Mason, steals people's tears? and stirs them into his martinies? It is very silly and was certainly a choice the showrunners made.

Circling back to the horse thing. We meet Peter. A victim of a traumatic brain injury, who loves animals. Even though getting kicked by a horse was the reason for his injury. If anything bad happens to Peter I will rip this website asunder. DO NOT TOUCH HIM. So he did put a dead woman in a horse, to try and revive her. That is true. His social worker was murdering women and trying to blame Peter for it, but after Peter tells the police this. The social worker kills the horse that hurt Peter, just to be vindictive, before trying to murder Peter.

I WAS DEEPLY UPSET ABOUT THE HORSE DYING.

Anyway, Will and Hannibal show up, and as mentioned before, Peter has put his social worker in the horse. Will takes him aside to console him, and Peter confesses. He did not kill the guy before putting him in the horse...

This man... put another man. A LIVING GROWN ADULT MAN. Inside a horse. sewing him up inside. That man then bursts out of the horse, still alive, and where was Hannibal when all of this was happening.

Petting a sheep. In the barn. Just watching this man re-enact Alien. Even Hannibal seems to have a second of "Wow, this is happening" before telling the guy he would be better off in the horse. Will then storms back in and tries to kill the social worker but Hannibal stops him at the last second. Clearly impressed by Will's eagerness to kill.

...Seriously how big is a horse's womb...

Who do you personally cast as Harumi if she were to (hopefully) be playable? Me, I'd pick Sumalee Montano. Because 1) since she's the voice and mocap of Yuna in Ghost of Tsushima, it would be cute if she ended up being Jin's husband in another universe, and 2) because I think she has the range and capability to pull Harumi off. She's played so many badass characters like the aforementioned Yuna and Arcee from Transformers: Prime. Just listen to them both and tell me that’s not Harumi. Arcee’s snarky personality can also be for her more funnier interactions with Kuai Liang and Smoke 🤪

Also I kinda ship Jin and Yuna so it would be funnier if they end up becoming partners in two franchises 👀

I went after Sumalee's work as Arcee and Yuna, and oooh I can definitely see our vision, and I loved it!

I totally see Kuairumi in Yuna and Jin! Him being more reserved and doing his very best to look always so composed and in control, but just not being able to keep it together when he's around the pretty girl🤭 it's cute!

Meanwhile, she's more open about her feelings and makes sure he knows how much she cares for him!

It's an undeniably cute dynamic!

As for her work as Arcee, I believe Harumi would save the snarky attitude for her enemies and be more of a tease towards her friends!

Especially towards Kuai, who's completely out of his comfort zone and having to take a role he didn't want to nor was prepared to take!

She would tease him and make little jokes just to light up the mood. He would pout at her comments and, for a moment, would just forget about all his problems. It helps, even though he doesn't realise right away!

So, Sumalee is definitely a great choice!🩷

Now for my personal choice:

See, I'm Brazilian, and most of us take pride in our voice actors and the amazing work they do!

We have so many iconic voices, Guilherme Briggs, Flávia Saddy, Miriam Fisher, Marcio Seixas, and so, so, so many more!

So when I think of a voice for Harumi, I can only think of Brazilian voices for her. My personal favourite being:

Her work as Rochelle from "Everybody Hates Chris" is LEGENDARY to the point whenever we hear Rochelle's actress, Tichina Arnold, speak in English it just feels sooo wrong!😂😂

Her works as Sarah Lance and Capitan Amélia were great, too. She has a really strong voice, fitting with a leader, I can definitely hear her commanding her warriors in defence of the Shirai Ryu!

She would also go personally to Kuai's defence when a student tries to be too bold on him, talking back and acting disrespectful, she would snap at them Rochelle style and make them wish they were never born (that definitely extends to Bi-Han), lol💀

nemona: LEON. high-energy champs who love to win??? nemona would so be a leon fangirl.

arven: i want to see him cooking with beni. mochi vs sandwiches.

penny: i want penny to meet guzma, solely so that guzma can slowly realise that this nerdy eevee-obsessed kid is a much more serious criminal than he is.

ai sada/turo: i want them to meet laventon solely because laventon trying to work out what the fuck the ais are would be hilarious.

mela: flannery. awkward torkoal buddies!

ortega: listen he and bede would either be besties or hate each other on sight and i cannot work out which would be funnier.

giacomo: piers again, he's totally a piers fan, he's done fan remixes of piers's songs.

atticus: i want him to meet and get proper ninja training from koga and janine because he deserves it.

eri: zisu. the arm-wrestling contest would be LEGENDARY.

jacq: he and sycamore probably found each other on grindr during a conference and. y'know.

salvatore: he would like to meet fantina! the two could practise their kantonese together.

raifort: she and volo would get along for the worst reasons.

miriam: i want her to meet peselle. they have common ground and honestly i think it'd be cute.

dendra: i can picture her training with maylene and having a good time.

saguaro: i think gaeric would immediately fall in love if he met saguaro. and tbh i can't blame him.

tyme: i'm gonna say clemont. she would be really impressed by his inventions and would be a good tutor to him.

koraidon/miraidon: listen n would take one look at these big idiot lizard dogs and IMMEDIATELY fall in love. they are his new friends, he will give them all of the sandwiches.

thoughts on disventure camp e4:

tom and jake

seeing people complain about tom being a hypocrite for snarking at jake here and i agree that it is hypocritical. but i don't think it's bad writing (i honestly really like it?)

like. tom and jake are messy. they have no communication. they overreact to everything. that's like their whole thing.

idk why tom ghosted after the first season, or while he's continuing to be distant (and now, more openly hostile). this is because the show hasn't told us yet. i assume, given that it's only episode 4 and this plot is getting a lot of attention, that there will eventually be some explanation. it doesn't really feel out of character to me at this point, just that we're missing information.

also specifically the reason i like this interaction is because it makes it very clear that tom is also being shitty here! like imo that was clear from the very start with the ghosting and dodging confrontation stuff, but more recently the focus has been on jake's jealousy. and while i do think jake is being unreasonable as well, tom is not innocent. as before, they are messy!!

villians' alliance and elimination

first off: i so called miriam being out this episode. didn't know the exact context, but in order for the alec helping fiore plot to work long term she needed to be out of the picture.

i like that she played well here though. like she did exactly what she should have done in the situation and it just didn't work out. sad to see her go, but not surprised.

poor connor tho :( my man's all alone now. i'm hoping that with grett turning on yul (you go girl) that maybe he'll last a bit longer

also yet again reminded why i love alec as a player and a villain. he's so good at planning and thinking things through, and he's not just thinking in terms of his own best interest. man plays this game like chess.

like. the rest of yellow team would have happily let ellie or fiore lose and get booted despite the alliance. alec's main goal was to get rid of miriam, but at the same time he was proving to ellie (and less so fiore) that he was also looking out for them.

i also like that it's not working out as cleanly as he'd like. miriam exposing him may not have been a problem here, but it will be later. in s1 he was able to largely fly under the radar for a while, and now is having to change tactics.

other thoughts

aiden and tess made me smile :) i want them to be friends

like ally's apology and hunter's non-apology (and fiore's wtf response). i think ally's really sweet and i get why fiore doesn't buy it but i'm glad someone on this team was like "maybe bullying a child is wrong"

ashley's backstory :(

predictions for next episode

elimination is harder to predict because the teams are even again. i'm thinking yellow team again makes the most sense, given the inevitable fallout of the villain reveal and the vote for yul. my guess would be connor vs. yul (vs. alec?) and of those three i see yul as most likely.

(could also be connor but the letter from miriam might save him somehow; i'm mainly doubting that they'd take him out of the competition here bc that'd be pretty unsatisfying for the connoriya drama. kind of leaning this actually bc yul being betrayed but not eliminated could also be juicy.)

if it's not yellow team... i could see gabby on cyan, mostly through process of elimination. tom and aiden need to stick around for the drama with jake, ellie's got the villain thing, and tess hasn't really gotten to do much other than be stuck in the middle of things.

gabby also hasn't really gotten to do anything besides support ellie, but i wouldn't be surprised to see her go early- like with james and lake, it feels like her character so far this season has been more in support of another character, and the impact her elimination would have on ellie feels like the most likely plot direction for this team to take.

that said idk why anyone would vote gabby out at this point. but i digress.

i really doubt it'll be magenta. fiore and jake have their own plots happening that i doubt will be wrapped up next episode, hunter and ally's relationship feels like it needs slightly more focus and deterioration before either of them goes home, and ashley just doesn't really seem likely?

aside from elimination

jake's gonna be sad about miriam. i think tom might be too, but unclear how exactly he'll react. will definitely make their whole thing worse, because for some reason they decided miriam should hold the brain cell of their relationship.

yellow team is definitely gonna have drama: fallout from miriam telling everyone alec was untrustworthy, the whole situation with grett and yul's relationship, connor being the only outsider to the alliance.

not sure what else- hunter and ally might have some plot progression, but i think those top two bullets will be the main points.

also whatever advantage connor got will definitely come up- seen speculation that it's like the "make people switch teams" card riya got in s2 but idk how that would play out

camilo and mirabel ship variants 🦎🦋

so basically on the encanto proship twt, there are a few camilo x mirabel madrigal concept arts which shippers have given names and personalities. please click the read more to find out about them!

firstly, there is cariana 🐍🐞 they are based off the following camilo and mirabel concept arts respectively:

carlos 🐍 is older and more of a meaner version of camilo. he's more jaded and doesn't really make as many jokes, but his sarcasm is through the roof.

meanwhile mariana 🐞 is a more determined/accomplished version of mirabel. she's very stubborn, almost to a fault, and she's the type to continue working despite being exhausted.

following is cesmari 🐸🕷 and they are based off the following camilo and mirabel concept arts respectively:

in this variant, cesar 🐸 is older and more intellectual. he's definitely a more serious version of camilo, and he can be quite obsessive to the point where it's almost manipulative (depending on your taste of how problematic you think the ship can be).

meanwhile maria 🕷 is also a more serious version of mirabel, however rather than being outcasted for having no gift, this variant is treated as overly delicate by her family as she's seen as someone that needs to be protected. she can also be underestimated quite often.

next is carisol 🦊🐰 and they are based off the following concept arts of camilo and mirabel. they are different because Maskiered (Mish) on twitter was the first artist to discover them:

they are seen as younger variants, and their dynamic is like the trope best friends to lovers.

Edit 1/3/23: the og artist for this variant couple has stated that they prefer the name "Carlitos" rather than Cristian for 🦊, so for future reference please respect the artist's wishes. [Source]

carlitos 🦊 is a more naive, innocent version of camilo, while marisol 🐰 is seen as the same to mirabel.

as mentioned before, twt artist Maskiered was the first to discover this ship and their art for carisol (as seen below) is some of the best, most accurate, portrayals of the two.

the next ship variant is carmiri 🦚🦉 they were discovered by Meatballs_5U on twitter and they are based off the following camilo and mirabel concept arts respectively:

carmelo 🦉 is seen as a more relaxed, slow and sluggish version of camilo. (i personally hc him to be a plant dad). he's not very smart but he's usually fairly content with his life and just feels lucky to be with his prima.

miriam 🦚 is definitely a girl boss, she's very accomplished and seen as intimidating and unapproachable. when it comes to carmelo though, she can be quite clumsy and personable - something she can really be vulnerable with him only.

as previously mentioned, twt artist Meatballs_5U first discovered this concept art ship for camilo x mirabel and some of their headcanons is that miriam is much taller than carmelo as well, showing a physical representation of their power dynamic. they also created the very first arts and portrayals for this ship, as seen below:

the next few variant ships are more recent and in fact, Devil (or Honey Chouxcream) on twitter has a whole host of arts, emojis, and names for their milomira variants if you're interested; but the rest of this will be based on the other ships as Devil already made a few tweets outlining their own variants.

so the next variant ship is diomai 🌶🥝 and they were cooked up by artist @meltedvelita (who is also on tumblr and you should defs follow if you're interested and want to know more about the ship!) and this was their art of the two:

based off the artist's own headcanons, 🌶claudio (or just dio) takes after 🌤pepa a lot more in this au and he's like a mother hen wherein he gets easily anxious for his friends, especially his beloved prima 🥝maite.

meanwhile 🥝maite herself is quite oblivious and naive and has absolutely zero filter. she loves spicy foods and feels inadequate a lot of the time, something she's come to know as normal now.

the next variant ship is milche 🦟🪱 and they feature these specific concept arts of camilo and mirabel respectively:

these two are headcannoned as the youngest variants and they have a tom and jerry kind of dynamic wherein they're constantly trying to hurt each other cartoonishly and if it wasn't for the magic of Casita, there would definitely be more serious consequences to their shenanigans by now.

🦂canelo and 🐌maya were born of an AU idea that @meltedvelita and I discussed where pepa, bruno, (we took their concept arts too and named them josie and bernie 💖) and felix ran away together to the jungles of encanto and they started a family of their own there. when the cracks start showing and the magic weakens, 🐌maya, who is more reserved and proper as a result of an abuela that only focused on julieta's side of the family, sets out to try and find the rest of the family and reunite them - believing this will restore the miracle.

in the jungles however, 🦂canelo hangs out all the time and he has the gift of invisibility, he's intrigued by his prima and treats her like cheshire cat does to alice (pretty much their entire dynamic) but with all the 50s monikers that he has come to love and she absolutely hates. he routinely calls her "sugar", and "doll", and "toots". as such their ship name became sugarcane! 🦂🐌

thank you to @clayxorel for letting me know that they actually made some variants too! i'm not sure what the emojis for them are yet, but their names are Crisóstomo and Mara, and they can be found being initially discussed here.

their dynamic is apparently that they act like an old, married couple (bickering) but also there's actually been years of mutual pining too! Mara does have a gift, and it's invisibility, while Crisótomo's gift is to copy the gifts of his family members!

So for now that's all the camilo x mirabel concept art ships, or variants, as they're more commonly known.

I'll definitely add more to this and keep the post updated if any new variants or ships are discovered or given names and personalities. As of right now, all the different variants are shipped quite freely, with many art works on twt featuring different mirabel concept arts with different camilo ones, there are even many that feature selfcest for each character!

“Your phone is ringing.”

“I don’t have a phone” Mila says, hugging Rafa a bit tighter.

“Yes, you do” he laughs. “And it is ringing. What song is that?”

“I don’t know, my best friend chose it for me.” Her best friend. Rúben. That had been the first time she had thought about him since meeting Rafa. Could Eva be right with her theory?

“Are you picking up or not?”

“If I can find it” Mila sighs, letting go of him and trying to figure out where her phone is.

“I think it is over there” he says, pointing at the end of the bed.

“How did it end there?” she asks, moving until she is lying on her stomach, her head and arms hanging from the end of the bed while she searches for her damned phone. Why did Rúben choose such a horrible song? Was he planning on torturing her?”

“I don’t know, I was too busy kissing you and taking off your clothes.”

“Hello?” Mila says after finding her phone under Rafa’s boxers.

“Finally!” Ella screams. “Where were you?”

“Sleeping.”

“Girl, it’s almost 1 p.m.”

“I had a long night.”

“A good one?”

“A very good one” Mila says, feeling Rafa’s hands moving up her legs.

“That’s very interesting. What’s his name?”

“Rafa!” she yelps when she feels him biting one of her butt cheeks.

“Couldn’t resist” he whispers, moving to be on top of her and leaving kisses all over her back.

“Wait, wait, wait” Ella over the phone. “Is he there with you?”

“More than with me, he is on me” Mila giggles, Rafa tickling her while he kisses her neck.

“Oh… my… God.”

“Don’t move. I want to fuck you like this” he whispers again into Mila’s ear, making her feel goosebumps all over her body.

“Ella, I have to go.”

“To get railed?” she laughs.

“Precisely.”

“Have fun, girl.”

“Oh, I will” Mila says, letting her phone fall to the floor, not caring about hanging up.

“Here she is!” Eva says when Mila walks into the house.

“Here I am” she replies, sitting down on the sofa.

“How was that Spanish dick?” Eva asks, elbowing her.

“It was really good, thank you. Yours?”

“Disappointing. You got the good one.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Eva” Mila says, hugging her friend.

“You are back!” Miriam screams, the girl she was talking with the night before walking behind her. “This is Ali, by the way.”

“Hello, Ali. I’m Mila.”

“Nice to meet you” the girl says.

“So, breakfast and catch up?” Miriam asks.

“Miri, love, it’s 4 p.m.”

“Really? Wow.”

“When did you arrive home?” Mila asks her, trying not to laugh.

“The sun was already out” Ali says.

“And we didn’t go straight to bed. Not really” Miriam adds, making Ali blush.

“So basically you both had a wonderful night, while mine sucked” Eva pouts, crossing her arms over her chest.

“We’ll find you a nice guy, Eva. Don’t worry” Mila says, resting her head on her shoulder.

“Nah, there is no need. I’m just happy you found yours” she replies, resting her head on Mila’s. “But wait, did my plan work? No Rúben?”

“Who is Rúben?” Ali asks Miriam.

“Long story short, Rúben and Mila have been friends since forever, but something changed this year, and they ended up having sex. Multiple times. And now she doesn’t know if she has actual feelings for him or if it is just physical, and she is scared of ruining their perfect friendship because of it.”

“Ok… And the plan was?”

“To find a nice guy, see how far she could go with him, and if she thought about Rúben while doing all that. Did you think about him?” Eva asks Mila.

“Not until this morning when Ella called me. I had forgotten he had chosen my ringtone for me.”

“That’s great! Then now you know you don’t have feelings for him!”

“Doesn’t she?” Miriam says. “She just slept with a guy who looks cut from the same cloth.”

“Rúben and Rafa? No way” Mila chuckles.

“Think about it. Both of them are tall, tanned, play football, have amazing bodies, a beard, wear their shirts with half the buttons open for some reason…”

“Their names start with R…” Ali adds.

“Are you telling me… That I didn’t think about him because I met someone who looks like him?” Mila says, the good mood she was in starting to disappear.

“I’m afraid so” Miriam shrugs.

“Fuck” Mila whispers, sinking on the sofa.

“Hey, no. We’ll try again, we’ll find you another nice guy” Eva says, trying to cheer her up.

“And he will also have things in common with Rúben.”

“But maybe that’s just because you have a type?” Ali suggests, also trying to cheer her up.

“Yeah, I do. My fucking best friend” Mila says, feeling tears coming to her eyes. Because it’s not just that Rafa reminds her of Rúben on the outside. His character also is very similar to his, and now that she thinks about it, the things she liked the most about him, are the same things she likes the most about Rúben.

It wasn’t just physical attraction or the spring making them horny. She has feelings for Rúben. Real feelings that go beyond friendship. And she can’t keep lying to herself anymore.

She is falling in love with Rúben.

I almost didn't participate this time either because I don't like some of the questions, but I really wanted to answer a couple of them so here we are 😂 It'll likely be long so...

1. Are you named after anyone?

Not really? Definitely not after a relative (thank god, I'm not a fan of it), but:

a) my mother's religious enough that biblical Marta was on her mind. She used to say that if she had another girl she wanted to call her Miriam, and it wouldn't have happened anyway because when we thought my brother would be a girl — before that “uh there's a penis here” that made me cry because I was used to being a single child by then, and I was already so upset to get a sibling that at least I wanted a sister — I fought for the name Emma, but she did want to play a vague Martha&Mary game. (My brother got a religion-inspired name too, anyway.)

b. there's a song by one of her favourite singers that's called Marta che parla con Dio (I love this song so much!) and she always mentioned it when I asked about my name

c. Marta Abba was an actress and the muse of my mother's favourite writer. I always say that I'm named after her because I like the idea.

2. When was the last time you cried?

I don't remember when I last cried properly (not because I never cry but because I cry too often) but the last time I had to fight tears because I was in public and almost failed was two days ago.

3. Do you have kids?

Nope! I'm baby myself. I used to say I absolutely didn't want kids but now my stance is more “we'll see what happens”. Kids feel like too much — I'm always exhausted when I have to take care of my brother (who's almost 11 now, so not a baby, and still requires so much time and energy) and spending a week with my 3yo cousin reminded me of how it is when they're younger — and I'm not sure I'd want to devote such a big part of my life and my days to someone who, at least at first, would need me so much. But I love kids. I usually joke and say that I love them as long as they're someone else's and they go home at the end of the day, but I think I'd like having my own kid. I want to believe I'd be a good parent. But I definitely don't want to birth anyone, so we'll see what more queer rights or moving to another country life brings!

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I think so? I love sarcasm, but I probably don't use it as much as I think I do.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

This is one of the questions that bothered me because I couldn't think of any physical characteristic, but then I realise that the answer is SO easy: the first thing I notice about people I interact with is whether they pass my anxiety's vibe check.

(What I notice about people I don't interact with is whether they'd be good fancasts. The only faces I remember among all the people I've seen in 3 months of classes in person are: potential Shep fancast & potential fem Baz fancast.) (They're friends btw.)

6. What’s your eye color?

Brown. (I almost found a way to turn this answer into 15 paragraphs too, but I'll spare you.)

7. Scary movie or happy endings?

Happy endings for sure. I'm not a fan of scary movies in general (can't see the appeal), but I'll always pick happy endings. Though I can bear sad movies better than sad books, probably because everything's faster.

8. Any special talents?

I'll skip this one. Not because I don't think I have any special talents, but because what's a talent? What's special? Honestly my special talent is not being able to answer this kind of question about myself (along with “describe yourself in 3 adjectives” and shit like that).

9. Where were you born?

Wouldn't you like to know.

10. What are your hobbies?

I am, sadly, pretty inconsistent about hobbies. The ones that never leave are reading and writing (even when I had my 3 year long writer's block, writing was still at the top of my mind), but other than those two I have a wide variety of hobbies that come and go. Mostly because if I don't master a skill immediately I give up, and so I keep picking hobbies up and then abandoning them and then picking them up again. I'd probably be happier if I stopped wasting so much time on my phone and dedicated more time to getting better at some of these hobbies I've tried, but alas, my brain cannot be coerced into it.

December edit: learned and learning to crochet and I have a feeling this hobby will stay.

11. Do you have any pets?

Nope. I probably wouldn't want a pet that can move around, or one I'd have to touch (I assume you have to touch most pets somehow... but when I helped my aunt with her fish I didn't have to touch them because she had a little net I could use to move them when cleaning was needed, and it was great, so I could probably handle something like that). I'd also be sad about their lifespan.

Honestly, I'll probably only have a pet if someone I live with will have or strongly want one.

12. What sports do you play/have you played?

I did ballet from age 4 to age 11, then I let them fat shame me away from it. I probably would've quit after middle school anyway, but I wish I hadn't let them make me feel like shit about my body because I really love ballet, and I was the best of my group (the examiner from the Royal Academy of Dance said so twice.), and we were going to try point shoes the next year, and I was just a chubby kid.

Then I did archery for 2/3 years in high school. I quit because I felt like I didn't have enough time to do it AND study, and so I didn't want to commit to it to the point of buying my own bow, and the equipment my trainer gave me for free wasn't good enough that my skills could improve past a certain point, and so I got frustrated with it. I'd like to pick it up again someday.

(I almost googled whether ballet is a sport because I feel like a lot of people would say it isn't for different reasons, but then I decided that I don't care. It counts as a sport to me.)

13. How tall are you?

174 cm, I think. Maybe 173. 5’8”?

14. Favorite subject at school?

Oh boy. I could spend hours on this, I'm such a swot (which is why my current struggles with studying hurt so much! I never thought I'd be the kind of person who'd struggle with the only thing I used to be the best at, and yet here we are).

I think my favourite subjects to study are things like history and law. I also love languages so much and I need structure to study them (I struggle to be consistent and practice on my own). I loved scientific subjects and kinda miss them occasionally. I loved all the literature/social sciences classes I've had in my life but most of them are mostly stuff I like to read about and don't really want to study.

[December comment: I didn't post this in January because I didn't finish answering this question. I still don't want to finish because it's too much. I just want to say that there's a difference between subjects I like in general and subjects I like to study, and I think the two categories intersect in the fields of history, languages and law.]

15. Dream job?

There are two wolves inside of me.

The wolf that wants to leave a very specific mark in the world, which is the reason why I'm studying politics. I am not saying that politics are the way (or the only way) to change the world. I'm not even saying I want to be a politician. But there is in me the desire to do something for the world from this point of view, be it through writing or activism or NGOs or European/international institutions and organisations or the government. I'm currently [December] planning to write my bachelor thesis in International Law and talk about the regulation of AI, and my professor says this is a field that's creating more job opportunities and isn't yet as saturated as the human rights job market, so maybe this is something to pursue.

And the wolf that wants to stay in my little bubble and write fiction. Or translate books (though I don't think I'd actually want to be a translator. It's a shitty job). Have a nice house and a family and forget about the world.

I know these aren't necessarily mutually exclusive (in the sense that both could be possible at different times), but I'm not sure what will prevail. I guess it also depends on the jobs I will find when I'm done studying.

I agree with who said they want a job they like well enough but that leaves them time and energy to pursue their actual dreams. Work doesn't have to be your dream, it can be just work. But maybe I'll turn my dreams into work and have more, different dreams in my private life. We'll see!

Dragon Age: Absolution Episode 4

some random bits and pieces on Episode 4. under a cut due to length

The title, Those Who Falsely Dream, reminds me nicely of Those Who Speak and Until We Sleep :>

^ "Tevinter snake!" reinforces the image created by the title of Episode 3 (The Serpent's Coil). like a snake, he can't be trusted, he's manipulative and just wants to 'coil around' and entrap her and hypnotise/lull you into a false sense of security (a false sense of what their relationship dynamic is) :| you know that scene in the Jungle Book (I think?) where the snake is like, trussst in meee.. even if on some level he believes it's okay. and the way he victim-blames Miriam for his mother's and his own evils is unsettling.

when Miriam's friends run in to try to fight Rezaren and help her, despite all his 'I don't trust you, I'm gruff and out for myself, we've only just met etc' gruff bluster, Lacklon is the one yelling loudest (at this point Lacklon still doesn't even completely trust her/the situation, see his subsequent discussion with Roland in the alley, but even then he's running in with them!). I was teary when Miri's new [found] family ran in to help her here despite the risk, it's just 🥺

It's a very cool move/scene when Rezaren is blocking Qwydion's magic here. the SFX there were also cool

is the blond blue-eyed guard who reports to Tassia about the dragon and the captured thief the one who saw the mark on Miri's face at the end of Ep 1 and let her in?

the mark on Miri's face, the name. Do we think it's Ammosine or Rezaren? And do we think it's Tevene, like the literal Tevene for it or the initials, or is it more like a family (House) or personal sigil symbol?

the funny thing is I figured the woman 'mother' from Miri's backstory as shown in the trailer was Rezaren's actual mother before Ep 1 dropped, in November, if only because she and Rezaren have a similar bob haircut ｡(^▽^)ゞ I also sussed that the other elf in her flashback was a sibling of hers and that something had happened to them. I didn't expect the reanimated body stuff tho

the word Sicarri isn't said, but Miriam's situation and training reminded me of the Tevinter Siccari. a slave, and Rezaren's personal spy, assassin and whatever was needed.. the Sicarri are Tevinter's elite spies, most of whom come from enslaved families. their families are kept 'safe', as a promise and a threat, to ensure that the Siccari never flinch from their duties. their existence has been officially denied.

"left hand" reminded me of The Left Hand of the Divine. if Miri was to be Rezaren's left hand, a rogue, was Neb's 'purpose' to be his right hand, a warrior, more like a bodyguard, mirroring the way Cassandra as the Right Hand of the Divine is an out-in-the-open protector?

"But she raised us as siblings. Now Miriam's the only family I have left" - Tassia knows the soldier Neb is loyal to Rezaren. She doesn't know he's an animated corpse. so if she isn't questioning the assertion that Miriam is Rezaren's only family left, then she must not know that his mother raised him with not one but two slave 'siblings' (because otherwise, wouldn't she say "What about Neb?"). I guess he never told her about his 'siblings'

Rezaren's shadow looming over the wall that's covered in Miriam's blood feels like.. well, foreshadowing

Rezaren happens to keep a bottle on him at all times, ready to do blood magic in a pinch whenever wherever apparently

Tassia has lines she won't cross. girl, you can't trust that guy. when she says "It always starts with a few drops Rez, but it never stays that way".. I wonder what she's seen in the past, in Tevinter society with Magisters abusing blood magic for power and their own ends?

security, hunting criminals, no lyrium-based power to deflect magic.. Tevinter Templars really are as Tevinter Nights says, basically just guards with fancy equipment and shiny metal armor.

"I won't disappoint you" he says after being told not to use blood magic by Tassia, with.. a vial of blood in his hand, which she has seen

"Please, you're my best friend. I can't lose you too." "You won't". 🥺 it's wlw-mlm solidarity 🥺

mOOOOOM THE DRAGON'S WAKING UP AGAIN

hhh when the dragon is thrashing around, one of the guards that was holding one of the chains goes flying through the air with a cartoonish "aaaaa!"

did none of the other guards notice that their comrade guard had been badly stabbed, armor ripped right open, blood everywhere, and was just standing there silently like 'all cool'?

now we see part of why Qwydion was recruited for this job, and introduced to the audience in episode one as a talented healer

Okay, so this use of blood magic feels like new lore, new information on what blood magic can do. We learn here that if you have a vial of their blood and do the right spell/have the right skill, blood magic can be used to keep someone who is wounded from healing (even when they are being healed by a talented mage healer who is trying to counter the offensive blood magic), to keep someone unconscious and to 'visit' and talk to them inside their minds. Rezaren later says "Blood magic can make a lot of things possible" - what else can blood magic do that we don't yet know about? maybe it's just referring to the ability to bring the dead back using an artifact powered by blood magic, which as we know is his intent

Lacklon knows first aid and some field medic stuff :)

it's a fake Hira, Miri, "I'd never leave you", she did though, to go and join the Inquisition

In this mindscape of Miriam's, the nice white fluttering sheets from the scene with Hira turn into solid vertical bar-like structures in the background when her trauma and Rezaren manifest. it's like bars of a cage, the cage she's trapped in still (the past that she can't stop running from, or more accurately can't move past yet or isn't yet ready to confront)

I guess from the Rage demon in the mind sequence, Miri holds (understandably) a lot of anger still about what was done to her in the past. she's also angry at herself. trauma and survivor's guilt are very complex things.

Rezaren lookin very creepy when he's floating there with the sword.. in the dream at the time he looks and sounds calm and kind, and a bit sad/forlorn, but irl he's smirking creepily. he's so manipulative. it's his facade vs what he is inside, what he pretends to be (and on some level thinks he is) vs the reality. he's deceptive, and to an extent deceiving himself

I feel like when Rezaren is talking about how he bound a demon to Neb's dead body in order to keep his body going, and his plans to bring Neb back to life, the background music purposefully grows discordant, childlike but discordant, because, yeah, that's creepy and wrong Rezaren and he still has juvenile tendencies ("mine!")

the ritual to use the Circulum to bring someone back from the dead requiring the blood of a [I assume] close relative was a good shout. resurrection in a setting like this (outside of game mechanics) is extremely OP, so it needs significant limitations placed on it in the 'rules' to make it 'feel' more reasonable

Tevinter mages do still go through a Harrowing, iirc Dorian references his in DA:I dialogue

It looks like Miri's face marking is on the left of her face and Neb's was on the right of his. I feel like this lends credence to the idea that Neb's job was to be Rezaren's 'right hand'

Rezaren's mom was a piece of work, I feel like she knew her son was pretty weak and disappointing both in terms of magical power and personality (like lacking in fortitude) - he references this soon when he says "the mage mother never thought I could be" - so she thought there was a chance he may fail his Harrowing, so she ensured to bring Miriam and Neb along in case she needed help killing anything that came through or in case she needed to do something just like what she did to save her son

When the floating rocks start, the mindscape is now reflecting Rezaren's thoughts/things he's saying (rocks floating up = rebuilding). Are we now in Rezaren's mind? Is he creating these images in Miri's mind? Are their minds temporarily mashed together?

oooh I see. Rezaren's mother was basically raising him with the intent of him becoming the next Black Divine in future, from his very early years trying to mould and train him for this lofty goal, and that's why from their very early years she was trying to train a left hand and right hand for her son. Maybe in Tevinter, the Divine also has a Left Hand and a Right Hand, just as the Divine does in the south. makes sense, the two Chantries are in some ways mirror images. also "the role you were born for" has unpleasant implications.

When Rezaren says that Miri doesn't have to keep running anymore, not the past, not from his mother or from herself, notice he doesn't also add "or from me"

^ btch, u thought?? such entitlement, he's dumbfounded when she won't play along. I'm glad Miriam isn't written as entertaining his horrible notions and that the show (while Rezaren is a well-written and realistic villain [not all bad people are cartoonishly evil on the outside]) doesn't try to like.. sugarcoat what he was or send him on a redemption arc. obviously it doesn't matter if an owner "cares a lot" about their possession/tool, it's still 100% not ok. in this scene we see that despite his charming persona / exterior, Rezaren is brittle, kind of like glass. he seems to have been an only son, so the only blood scion of his House. as the mage son of a noble house with a powerful mother that had these lofty goals for him, he had everything he could ever have wanted. there's a childishness [idk what the right word would be, I don't mean that he's child-like]? to him even now as, sometimes his charming exterior bluescreens when his mask drops when he's challenged by someone or something doesn't go his way. like a tantrum. in this scene when his mask is off everything begins to crumble and shatter. his illusion of their future together in the mindscape crumbles even as his external persona (which is in its own way an illusion) evaporates, as he realizes that his dream of them 'being together' again isn't going to happen. everything around them crumbles and the rocks/ice starts boxing Miriam in. more coils.

anyways, how did Rezaren know some of this stuff about Miri's life since she escaped? either he was keeping tabs on her during that time (he did say he made it so the Templars never found her. which btw ig implies that Tevinter Templars are also responsible for chasing down/catching/dealing with runaway or escaped slaves) or he can 'see' the knowledge in her memories because they're in bloodmagicmindscape

I wonder what Rezaren's plans to 'make Tevinter a better place for everyone, to change the world' entailed exactly

our falsely-dreaming dreamers.. Rezaren, with his vision for the future that isn't going to happen. Rezaren, in his dream/delusion that the slaves his mother owned were his 'siblings' and that everything could just be alright again (and that it was alright before to the extent that they should try to go back to that place). Miriam, with the dream of a Hira that would never leave her?

This is gross but I think the blood that Miriam throws up after waking up from the mindscape was Rezaren's, it magically evaporates and he had cut himself using the sword to combine his blood with her blood that he had from the vial, in order to do this blood magic spell. gross. truly invasive in more ways than one.

Qwydion and Miriam 🥺 I just love them both. they have some really nice moments together in this series

I think I never thought about the reason why I liked Assault Lily that much. I’m neutral about the story and I like the worldbuilding, but I know it wasn’t the reason why I got in. So I was thinking about it and it was the characters that enchanted me.

In 2020, when the anime first aired, I tried to watch, but I stopped right after episode 1, because none of the presented characters were good enough for me. Riri got me angry, Yuyu didn’t interest me, Kaede was only for a gag, Fumi wasn't interesting for me and all the other girls didn’t have enough screen time for me to have an opinion about them. So I stopped and I planned never to go back once again. But in 2022 I got back and I don't regret it.

I don’t know why, but I got recommended in Youtube a compilation video about Tazusa’s scenes in anime, and I know even less why I decided to give it a chance even though I recognized that it was "that anime" (maybe because her appearance looked like the type of character I like). I was enchanted by Tazusa's personality and wanted to see more about her (unfortunately there was no more in the anime), so I went to watch.

The only reason why I stayed was because of Tazusa, Yujia and the relationship of these two with other characters and between them. I still don’t like Riri, but all other characters got more palatable with the episodes and other Assault Lily’s medias. When I got into other medias about Assault Lily, all that attracted me were the characters and their relationships with each other and I want to talk a bit about it.

For me, the good point in Assault Lily is nothing more than its characters. At first, they look nothing more than archetypes that do not deviate from the established. As exemple, we got the annoying, innocent and know-nothing main character, we got the edgy lead, we got the only-for-gag lesbian and we got the mc’s friend that isn’t good just to make it look like mc is not special (while the script does everything to make the mc special). But after you go a bit deep, the majority of characters aren't just their archetype. Instead, they have remarkable characteristics that destroy their archetype. And their relationships with other characters feels natural and organic rather than something distant and cold.

An example is Tazusa. She is always with an angry-looking expression and appears to be an edgy character at first, just like when she first interacts with Fumi and Riri in the anime. But right after this, she shows a cute and (maybe) innocent side of her, imitating a cat and acting so happy. When we know better about her in other medias (specially in Last Bullet), she is presented as a complex character through small words, situations and actions that don't feel forced because of succinct and little hints they showed about Tazusa in anime, Last Bullet and Stage Plays. Although she looks distant from the other girls, she shows so much care about (almost) everyone in Hitotsuyanagi even if it sounds rough, and she would throw her life away for a cat. The expressions she makes, although succinct, reveal a lot about her personality.

The script, instead of telling about Tazusa, they show who she is through small tips in her behavior and her way of speaking. We need to pay attention to the character herself to understand her. And this happens with several other characters.

Yujia is another example. In anime she had much more development than Tazusa, so it isn’t as implicit as Tazusa, but we know her through her small gestures, mannerisms and way of speaking. Yujia is an anxious girl who doesn’t have confidence in herself, but she is one of the most reliable girls in Hitotsuyanagi, both in fights and outside them. I consider Yujia's biggest point to be the relationship she has with other characters, especially Shenlin, Tazusa and Miriam. Some people might consider Yujia's dependency on Shenlin to be a downside, but I think it is a really good point of her. In more traditional media, one would expect Yujia's development to be her becoming a more independent person and becoming able to overcome her anxiety without help.

But in Assault Lily, the opposite happens. Yujia turns into a more dependent person and her development is pushed by Shenlin and the other girls from Hitotsuyanagi. And I think it fits Yujia's character so much. She is an imperfect person who refused to accept other people's words of support, and instead isolated herself because she considered herself useless (even though she has sisters who love her very much and one of them admire her a lot), so I would hate if her development was about her alone. I really like how she becomes happier and more accepting of herself because she has people supporting her. Yujia really breaks what is expected of a character like hers in other works and gives a much better result.

Still about Yujia, I want to talk about one scene in anime that really got me. It is the first time she appears in anime without being a background character, in episode 4. Even if it is too short, we can see that Shenlin’s room is empty, no decor or anything that makes it look like Shenlin is living there. It's like a place where nobody lives, without personality. But later in the episode, we can see the same room weeks later and it looks lively, and it only changed because Yujia is there now. This shows how Yujia had a big impact on Shenlin's life and made her own empty life a lively one (and it is explicitly shown in one of Last Bullet’s events). And I really love how interpersonal relationships are so important and (usually) well developed (with some exceptions).

Even if I really dislike Riri’s relationship with Yuyu for how forceful it is, Assault Lily almost always uses relationships between characters to deal with traumas and problems of them. And that's lovely and fascinating. This makes Assault Lily different from other works, where usually there is no such codependency of characters for their development.

In other media, with other Legions, this becomes even more obvious. I already talked about Hervarar in another post, but all the characters break the stereotype they are built upon and their relationship is perfect. Kazuha is a prodigy who got Herensuge 1st rank, but she is so dense and slightly chaotic. Ran is a childish character who doesn’t know a lot of things, but she is the most emotionally mature character among the 5 girls. Renka is a gyaru who loves futsal, candy and even if she looks mature, she is a childish character with her liking for cute things and for liking to implicate with Ran. Yoh is a mature-like character, but she has childish likes and is chaotic when she wants. Chikaru is a mature-like and mama-like character, but she is the most emotionally unstable character of Hervarar. And the development of the 5 of them only happens because they are together and get even closer to each other, as if they are codependent.

In The Gleam of Dawn, Waku is the best character by far. And that's not just because of the acting or the character itself, but because we could see who she is with little Stage Play’s time. With so many characters, it was impossible to present all of them for the audience, and the ones that were presented felt out of place and forced, but not Waku. They didn’t stop the story to talk about Waku to us, and they showed her instead of telling about her. This was only possible because of her relationship with Himari and Komachi. All the scenes where she was the majority featured were not about her, but about her interacting or caring about other characters. Waku is a childish character, but she was the one who acted most maturely throughout the stage play supporting Himari and showing concern for Komachi. The way she sounded happy for Himari in the end of Stage Play with Himari, but when the call ended, she started crying hard was so beautiful for me. Like, it isn't expected for a childish character to present a high maturity like that, and I really loved it.

Kiito isn’t a type of character I like, but she is a really good character. I got a soft spot for her because even if she is rough and rude, she really cares about her “family” and shows her love by her "weird" way to them. Even Fuuka, who I don’t like too much, is a really good character which gives little hints about who she really is (which is everything but what she showed to Hervarar’s girls in the story, and it made me have a soft spot for Fuuka).

I really love complex characters that are based on archetypes only to break it and be a really interesting character even if it appears to be clichê at first. And Assault Lily feeds me too much with this type of character. I think if someone ask for a reason to start in Assault Lily, I wouldn’t say about the story/script, the worldbuilding or the gayness, but I would say about how much a lot of their characters are interesting, intriguing and makes us to feel things when we are reading or watching about them, because they feel organic (even though the script is bad several times, this beauty about the characters is not destroyed).

Your Pokemon headcanons are always SO great to read through! Could I share more of my own, although these ones might be too much. My brain has been floating around these HCs in my head for a while now.

Tulip owns around 3 or 4 Galarian Rapidash. Despite this, I actually do not think Tulip is a horse girl or any type/variant of a horse girl. She does ride them, but not often or consistently thanks to her jobs. Those Galarian Rapidash were actually gifts from when she travels to Galar for either a business trip, vacation, or something else. They are extremely well taken care of and maintained (by whoever Tulip hires, I can't see her doing it by herself alone sadly; especially because of her status and jobs.), but they are not a primary priority. Tulip still stops by the stables to give her Rapidash apples and pats whenever she could though.

Tulip is still intent on keeping them and in good shape, because she wants to have Galarian Rapidash riding dates with Dendra. Dendra has ridden one of Tulip's Galarian Rapidash and both of them ridden together (same steed or separate steeds) already, but Tulip doesn't think those count because they were not officially on a date during them as they were 'hanging out like old friends' like Dendra puts it (Dendra is too oblivious and Tulip has high standards for what counts as a date).

Dendra, although not a horse girl, still has horse girl energy to her. She definitely rode her Paldean Tauros before, similar to bucking bull rodeo, and had more injuries and trips to Miriam than she could count. Dendra thinks Tulip's Galarian Rapidash are badass sword horses (& has called them that) and attempted to play-fight with them. Tulip, not wanting Dendra to get stabbed by Galarian Rapidash's horn, put a stop to it. Dendra has carried a G-Rapidash bridal style at least twice. Neither of them is particularity good at horseback riding (both are decent or OK at best).

After a while Dendra starts to bring Miriam with her when she goes over to Tulip's stables. Miriam, I personally think, is a horse girl and she dotes on the Galarian Rapidash and they adore her back. Miriam always gives them healthy treats, quick checkups to see to make sure they're healthy (G-Rapidash pass with flying colors everytime) and brushes their manes. Galarian Rapidash love to give her nuzzles and return 'hugs' from her. I feel that Miriam would be a generally great rider or at least far better than either Dendra or Tulip. Tulip is thinking of giving Miriam one or two of her Galarian Rapidash, but worries that the unicorn(s) would get in the way of Miriam's nursing job. Ironically, Galarian Rapidash would actually be beneficial to Nurse Miriam's duties.

One thing about me is I have the attention span of a well-fed rat. So, I definitely can't promise I'll read all of these immediately. But I identified a few things I thought I could learn more about and decided to add them to a list of books that came up on my fyp on tiktok.

I follow a lot of orthodox Jews on there, and for some reason, it's not something I ever thought about before they started coming up on my fyp. But I find a lot of their traditions and rules very fascinating, so I thought I'd include a short guide on the basics so that I can understand what they're talking about.

Two of the creators I see most on there are Melinda Strauss and Miriam Ezagui. I find their content to be some of the most fascinating because if I'm being entirely honest here, I have almost never seen orthodox Jews outside of science fiction or historical fiction. And that's not because it's super common to see orthodox Jews in sci-fi. It's just because the first time I remember ever learning anything about it was actually on the X-Files.

I learned a strange amount about Judaism from the X-Files, now that I think about it. Because that's also where I first learned about golems. Anyway, I find these two women incredibly fascinating also because they share and explain so many things I straight up just never would have never thought about.

Recently, I think Melinda's daughter, Nora, had her bat mitzvah and it was the cutest one I've ever seen. I see a lot of Jewish creators on my fyp outside of these two, and there was one girl who was rating all the bat mitzvah t-shirts she had gotten over the years. It's a super funny series because she's a really funny person, but it reminded me of the amount of people who have shown their bat mitzvahs on tiktok and also just on other apps as well, and whenever I think about it (which isn't very often but definitely whenever I see any of Melinda's videos now), I cannot get over how cute Nora's was. It was like this super cute 80s/lightning bolt theme? The colors were like pink and black, I think. Very girly. But the t-shirts and everything were so cute.

Anyway, Melinda also goes really into detail about what is kosher and what isn't, talks about all the different rules of Shabbos, and all the different religious observances. It's so cool. Miriam is similar. Her daughters are much younger, but the videos she post really show her life as an orthodox Jewish woman. She talks a lot about marriage. One of the most fascinating things to me was learning about the wigs. It confused the fuck out of me at first because I was thinking it was like a modesty thing, but apparently it's not.

I am also really interested in reading the torah. Y'all have no idea how shook I was when I saw a real one for the first time. My friend showed me and I was like ITS A SCROLL???????? Shook. Like I actually can't name anything else that shocked me more than that. I don't know why but I just wasn't expecting that. But anyway, I found an online translation into English and I'm super interested in it.

Before I stop myself from writing anymore, I was thinking earlier about how when I was a child, I wanted to convert. I was a very serious Catholic, but I think I had a lot of trouble with my faith. So, I remember asking my mom if I had to be Christian and if I could be Jewish instead. She didn't say no. She just ask me if I really believed Jesus wasn't the son of God and if I was really ready to give up Christmas.

The question always freaked me out so badly as kid because the very question felt a tiny bit like I might go to hell for saying anything short of yes. So, I'd just let it go. But I came back to that question a lot throughout my childhood and teen years. Now I really just like to learn as much as I can because I am very passionate about being a good ally to my Jewish friends, and because I lowkey have a type and I do not want to keep sounding like a total dumbass whenever I talk to Jewish girls.

The main things I want to work on learning about are 1). keeping kosher (what is and isn't kosher) because I really want to cook for my friends but I want to stay respectful and ask them what is okay but also have a general idea of what is okay and what isn't. 2). Understanding the nuances of Israel (and Palestine) in politics and in Jewish communities. This topic always makes me so nervous bc I have absolutely no idea where to start and every single time it comes up in conversation people expect me to already have an opinion on it. 3) Knowing more about some of the basics: How to act in synagogue, what to say on the different holidays, what each holiday entails, etc.

My next reading list will be for books about Islam!

Staying Red. (Lol) It could be about Mei and her friends, and how she kinda sees all the issues her friends have as well. She's older "Ya'll don't know how hard it is to be me!" and that's the jumping off point. Yeah being a Panda is hard, especially when growing older, but her friends also have problems. You could include the cultures of the other girls + Tyler. Maybe show how Priya handles being Goth-in spirit, and how that clashes with the more vibrant Indian culture? How does Tyler handle being himself, trying to be a tough guy, while also being not-as popular as he wanted to be? How do his parents deal with expectations for him? Abby being so loud and up and going, but maybe at home she's a lot more reserved, so all that pent-up energy comes out when she's with her friends. Are Miriam's parents really as laid back, or is there something more? It'd also be interesting to explore more coming-of age topics but also cultural. Though I guess those would be too heavy for a show, ie: The creepy belief that women are impure on their period, which is perpetuated everywhere in some form. Or how some girls are expected to cover themselves after they reach teenhood. How do culture and society influence them when growing up? What if someone wants to let go of their religious or cultural roots, but can't because of the family? How do you deal with -phobic parents when you realise you're LGBTA? Gender expression as well, Miriam is more tomboyish, how do people around her view that? What about interracial relationships? How do you deal with the racism and prejudice from people around you? Especially your friend's family. -(We only got to see how Ming was always pointing fingers at Miriam, while ignoring Abby and Priya. But we still have the other families. Also, I've seen someone note how East Asia has an older generation who dislike the other countries, Ie China against Korea and vice versa bc of the war, how would that influence the dynamic of the older generation of Mei and Abby's family?) How do you approach cultural appreciation? Being invited to festivals of another culture, or the likes? What about appropriation? What about the use of "Western name" where a person has a name that's more Western, while also having a name from their native culture? (Abby could be a stand in for that, where she reveals her Korean name?) What about losing parts of your culture, like not knowing your ancestral language for whatever reason. Or being removed from your culture. Especially if you still have family in your ancestral country, who you do not understand. I'm also still curious about the families of the girls in the movies time frame, like what about Abby and Priya, and Miriam. I know it was more of a throwaway scene, but I feel there might be more.to it. I also realise that not all of these topics really fit into the mid-late 2000's era storyline, I think a lot of awareness only really came up the beginning of the 2010's and from there to 2015 when the ball started rolling. But many of the topics themselves

So I'm going to have to put my thoughts on your ideas under a 'Read More' because the submission was a bit on the longer side. That being said

I think if 'Staying Red' was based on the main group being in high school, then covering those kinds of story-topics would be possible (that would put them at around 2006 or so?)

But, yeah, I could definitely see episodes surrounding the other main characters going along the lines of:

Priya - she's managed to convince her parents to let her have a few Goth elements (i.e.: her nails, her reading choices, and maybe by high school incorporating more black into her wardrobe), but one day her grandmother moves in and starts talking about how Priya 'dressing like a witch' will make her unmarriable.

Abby - I could see something like Abby being so wild and crazy in school and with her friends due to her being more-than-encouraged (hint-hint) to be quiet and demure at home. There could also be an episode about Abby feeling conscious about her weight and coming to terms with that.

Miriam - With Miriam, I know there is a Turning Red book that has glimpses into the other girls' families, but I never read it. As is, I imagine Miriam being the only girl in a family of rowdy, stocky boys. We see her having a more tomboyish style but there could be an episode where she has to confront her dad about only seeing her as another son rather than his daughter. i.e.: Miriam could have a very upsetting day at school but when she tries to talk to her dad about it, he goes 'Come on, Mir, man up', causing her to blow up at him 'Dad! Just because I play hockey and wrestle a-and dress like this doesn't mean I'm a guy!!'

In regards to the racism and prejudice with one's parents against one's friends, they could more formally address the whole 'Ming not liking Miriam' thing that was hinted at in the movie.

I would be very interested to see an episode about Abby having her native name. Let's say: Tyler has to go drop something off for Abby due to her being sick from school one day. However, when he tries to go to the salon that her family owns and asks for Abby, the people working there don't know who he's talking about. In addition to that, they aren't too crazy about him staying so long... Until Abby comes downstairs, says something to the people working there, and then goes outside with Tyler. He asks what the deal was and she mentions 'Oh, they only know me by my Korean name' but then Tyler veers it into 'Uh, no, I meant why were they so freaked out by me being there?'

There's so many ideas that could be done with a hypothetical Turning Red spin-off series. I would hope that Pixar would consider something like it.

ive never played any of the switch Pokemon games so for the ones you've played or you know stuff of what are your favourite parts from them!! (sorry if that's complicated! you can just say your favourite Pokemon or stuff like that from violet or shield or whatever you like!)

!!!! There are so many good parts about both games and just!!!! This is going to be long-

Pokémon Shield was the first ever game I played and!!! All of it means so much to me!

I loved the starters, the characters, all of the Pokémon! The DLC was super cool!!!:))! And playing it was, an amazing experience. I wish I could go back, forget everything about it and just. Replay it.

I obviously had. Favorites. My favorite starter was Sobble! I obviously, picked him first! He was just. A little guy,,, I know a lot of people make fun of him but I think he is super neat! And then there was the gym leaders and other characters!! All of them had very cool designs to me!! And just, they all looked so pretty? My favorites were Allister and Kabu! Allister is a ghost type gym leader and just! I thought he was the coolest ever when I first stared playing the game. His gym was difficult for me to be tbh!!! But, it did not matter I thought he was cool <33!! Kabu is a fire type gym leader and!! He made me love Centiskorch,, I got one at his gym and. He became a part of my team forever! And honestly, Centiskorch is my favorite Pokémon now lol! Other than him, Hatterene was my other favorite! I remember spending so long trying to catch her lol! But yeah, Pokemon Shield is honestly, an amazing starting game and. It means way too much to me.

In Pokémon Violet, I just recently finished the “main” story, before I get to like. The extra end stuff! And honestly? People are way too harsh on this game. The designs are very cool for all the Pokémon and characters! Sure, some are a little silly but it’s Pokémon!!! I’m not even done yet and just. I’m already happy with the game. All of the quests were amazing, the characters are my everything and just?? It makes me internally cry.

I do. Have favorites of course :))! Character wise I really liked Penny, Nemona, Nurse Miriam, Tulip, and Iono!!! They are all so pretty and!!! Nemona is our main rival in the game! You see her mostly in the taking in the gyms path!!! She’s all about Pokémon battles and just! She is my best friend,,, Penny is a student at the academy you go to! She is a hacker girl and she wears an adorable cute backpack! Penny’s character means a lot to me. I don’t want to spoil stuff because, idk finding stuff out for yourself is fun :)! Even if you don’t end up playing the games-! But her character, means so much to me. Eri, is hard to explain without giving spoilers either. Just know, she’s amazingly sweet and just. I love her! Nurse Miriam is a nurse at the Pokémon school you attend and I just. Love her design and just. Her?! Tulip is the psychic gym leader! She is the moment, she is everything???!! Iono is the electric gym leader! Everyone basically already knows about her because, all the streamer stuff but! She is just very neat and her design is super cute!!

But none of those characters are my favorite!!! My favorite is Arven! His character, I honestly hated as soon as I saw him but the second time I saw him, it was all gone-! His quests and story also are just. Amazing and he is so special and he is!!! My favorite ever,,,<33

Pokémon wise for the game, I loved them all so much? My starter I picked was Sprigatito!! And just, I love them,,, I know all the jokes with them but they are a genuinely cool starter and!!! I love them- minus the starters though, I really liked Tinkaton, Miraidon, and the stupid Orthworm Pokémon- mostly because all are super cool, but Orthworm just looks. So happy and I am his #1 fan-

I don’t know what else to bring up honestly? All of the games are amazing! And I couldn’t find one thing I genuinely disliked about either?? All parts are my favorites <333

Forging Ties - Chapter 18 - Part 2

*Warning Adult Content*

After they were done with the meal, Duran took Skye by the hand and led him up onto the deck.

They leant against the railing and looked out over the water.

"You know, before we left for the trip away from The Spire, I felt like I wanted to just escape everyone and be alone," Duran said.

"Really, I think I was just hurting and feeling misunderstood and that seemed like the only way to escape it. Turns out, the best way to not be misunderstood is actually just good old fashioned communication."

Skye didn't respond.

He was busy kicking at the side of the railing.

"But maybe that's unfair, telling you this like it should mean something to you. I have struggles of my own but I've always been able to articulate my thoughts. Whether I choose to is a different matter, of course. It seems like it's more complicated for you."

Skye pushed away from the railing, turned and before Duran could react he was rapidly climbing up the mast.

He settled in the crow's nest and didn't look like he planned on coming down.

Miriam wheeled her chair over and gave Duran a pat on the shoulder.

"I wouldn't take it personally. I've known him for a year and I still don't really understand him."

"I wanted to try to," Duran said. "Feeling understood is important."

"I know," Miriam said. "But that has to come from him. If he wants to be understood, he has to communicate."

"But what if he can't?" Duran asked. "One of my closest friends has always been a little different. Fanner. A thousand times he was told he just had to do some simple thing, like stand still and he couldn't. Sometimes people just... can't."

"And reading minds is something that none of us can do. Just because we want to help doesn't mean we can do the impossible."

"No, I suppose not."

"Leave him be. That's probably all he really needs from you. Though, to be honest, even I have no idea what goes on in his head. I never would have pegged him as a physically affectionate person until I saw him with the three of you. I had no idea he wanted to come on this trip, or that if he did want to, he would be upset that he wasn't asked. He keeps so much inside."

"I'm sure you're right about leaving him be, anyway," Duran said. "He may not say much but climbing a mast and hiding in a crow's nest is also a form of communication. I think I'll go and see what Hamish is up to."

"I think I saw him go back to the berth."

Duran made his way back below deck and down the corridor to the berth, a small room with tightly packed bunks.

Hamish, Duran, Slone, Perry and presumably now Skye, were sharing it.

Cookie had been in there earlier but then she'd vanished off somewhere else and Duran didn't know where she was now.

Everett had his own cabin and Miriam was sharing the bed in the Captain's cabin with Sera because her chair didn't fit into the berth.

She probably wouldn't have been able to get up and down from below deck at all, except Slone could easily lift her and was always happy to help.

The six bunks in the berth were stacked three high and Hamish was on one of the bottom ones, the egg hugged against his chest.

He flashed Duran a smile.

"I had Slone check on it. He said he can hear a little heartbeat fluttering away in there."

Duran climbed into the bunk with him.

It was cramped but they didn't mind being all over one another.

"Does he know how far along it is?"

"No clue. He knows it's alive but he doesn't know anything about, like... gestation. Is that the word?"

"I think so."

Hamish wrapped an arm around Duran.

"Do you know what's weird?"

"What?"

"Okay, so, imagine this. A woman's been in labour for hours and she finally pushes a squirming, wrinkly, bloody mess of a baby out of her and as the midwife cleans it up she asks 'what is it?' and the midwife says 'it's a girl.' Right? That's how it goes?"

"I think so," Duran said. "That's what it's like in books, anyway."

"So... that's weird, right? If we don't know a baby's gender we use 'it'. An adult or even an older child, you'd call 'they' but for a baby it's more like a pet cat or dog. An it."

"I bet it originated in a time with very high infant mortality. The baby stays an 'it' until it's a little less likely to die on you."

"Hmm."

Hamish stroked the sparkling shell of the egg.

"It's good we're going home, then. Fanner can help if anything goes wrong."

"Another father for your egg baby?"

Hamish grinned.

"You know it. Yore was planning a child, right? What's one more?"

Duran laughed.

"I wonder how Fanner feels about that. About becoming a stepfather of sorts to Yore's child before too long, I mean. He's younger than I am and younger still at heart and I would not be ready for that responsibility."

"I don't think much of it will fall to him," Hamish said. "The child will spend most of its time with its mother until it's weaned and Yore has a lot of family to help out with raising it. I'm sure Fanner will be fine."

"He'll probably have another year, give or take, before the baby is even born as well," Duran said. "I'm sure the recognition his ability brings him will build his confidence in that time."

"A healer and a werewolf prince. That's one hell of a power couple."

"And both of them so humble you'd never know it."

"Couldn't be me. I'd want a crown."

Duran smiled and tucked in closer against Hamish's side.

"Yeah?"

"Maybe a sceptre. What is a sceptre, anyway? What's that for?"

"Smacking people over the head?"

"Hmm. Probably."

Duran yawned.

His sleeping schedule was still a bit out of whack.

"I'll suggest it to Yore when we get back."

"Want to take a nap together?"

Duran shut his eyes and settled his head on Hamish's shoulder.

"That sounds amazing."
