About Grandmaster Harumi Shirai:

Ok, so, Harumi is Head of her Clan. She has a clan.

Which ultimately means her help was requested by Kuai not only because they are long-time besties but also because she has actual clan leading experience!

Cause like, Kuai is the Grandmaster's son, but we can assume only Bi-Han was trained to be a Grandmaster. Older son and all.

So even though Kuai is a natural leader, he has no actual clue on how to assemble or even lead a clan! Which gives this scene:

A whole other meaning cause it's not that "it's hard to find initiates" in a way that they don't find anyone who really fits.

These two morons just don't have the SLIGHTEST IDEA on how to pick their initiates!

And their expressions are just so perfect cause Kuai is just "We are so dead!" And Tomas is like, "is that supposed to happen???"

And then there's Harumi!

She is the leader of her clan, which means, much like Bi-Han, she was trained! She knows how to pick students, so for once, she knows how hard that task is, which explains why she looks more apologetic than frustrated!

Which probably extends to the whole experience, cause Kuai came to her saying he needed to assemble a clan ASAP, "teach me yo-yo man" style, cause he might have just promised a god he would build him a whole ass clan to defend the entire realm!

I can only picture Harumi going:

Harumi: Oh, baby... no. Just no.

I can also imagine them bringing her students she can tell from a glance are unfit, like

Kuai: So this is--

Harumi: No.

Tomas: But you didn't even--

Harumi: Hard. Pass.

Which really makes me wonder how that went with Hanzo. He was their first successful initiate, so imagine he was also the first one to actually have Harumi's blessing!

Tomas: So this is Hanzo, I found him on the woods!

Harumi, without missing a beat: He's perfect.

On other notes, Tomas also implies the Shirai Ryu was built on Harumi's lands. So, like... did she just say they could use her backyard?

Or her family's lands extended beyond her clan's location, and she was kind enough to give it to Kuai?

Also, imagine Bi-Han hearing Kuai and Tomas were about to make a clan of their own and he mocks them (as he also knows this is not a simple task and they have 0 clue on how to perform it) and them Harumi goes:

Notes: AYO, pour one out for me; the one fucker who shipped Harumi/Kuai before it became canon and now has to constantly endure the hatred people have for both this ship and Harumi. 👍🏻 But yeah, this is a short fluff piece I wrote when the preview for Invasions mode was revealed. So again, I’ve had this written and edited for a while, just needed to post it. I always kinda liked the concept of Kuai Liang having a reverse bisexual awakening, where he thought for a long time he was gay, and then bam, Harumi comes along. Sexuality do be like that sometimes, it’s not a rigid as people seem to think. I think it’s interesting to delve into. Anyway, enjoy! The Harumi pegging Kuai porn will come at a later date ;P

“You don’t look at any other women the way you look at me.”

Kuai Liang looked up from his bowl of miso soup with an extremely cute frown on his face. Harumi knew he’d probably disagree with that description. It was true though. He was very cute. Handsome. Very polite and respectful. A little bit shy and unsure of himself. Some might have said awkward, but that was more the lack of regular socialisation outside of his clan and brothers.

“What do you mean?” He mumbled, keeping his voice low like he did not want anyone to overhear their conversation. She could understand that. Kuai Liang definitely was not used to being around civilians, and especially not used to conversations that weren’t matters of the utmost importance.

It was rare she managed to persuade him to leave the training grounds at all during his visits. He was here to train, as per his father’s request, and that was what he intended to do for the most part.

But occasionally, every now and then, she managed to win him over.

“You look at me the same way you look at the men you train with,” she elaborated, and Kuai cocked his head ever so slightly.

“With respect and admiration?” He questioned, his voice ever so slightly braindead like he was trying a little too hard to act oblivious.

“You know that’s not what I mean.”

It was hard to miss the way Kuai looked at the men he trained with. Well, to her it was, it seemed the men in question hadn’t seen. She couldn’t explain it other than if she were required to give a visual representation of “puppy love”, then Kuai Liang would be it. And initially, he only ever wore that expression around those men.

That was until she realised he was doing the exact same thing with her.

Kuai glanced around, shifting in place, like he couldn’t get comfortable. Finally he looked her directly in the eye, and said “I don’t really know what to tell you.”

He deliberately took a sip of his soup, clearly stalling for time while he could come up with something to say. It was a quirk she’d noticed early on. When he didn’t have a reply straight away, he’d find a reason he couldn’t answer. If that was sipping his soup, taking a drink, or even shovelling about 10 Gyoza into his mouth at the same time.

She still occasionally laughed to herself when she thought about how pudgy his cheeks had become.

“I have always known I was… different,” he finally began after swallowing. “While my peers would discuss the attractiveness of women, there was something…” He bared his teeth slightly like he was trying to think of another word than the one he’d already used. “It was like, they would point out an attractive woman to me, and I could acknowledge that they looked nice, but it was never anything more than that.” He chuckled slightly, although not a happy chuckle, one with a melancholy timbre that broke Harumi’s heart a little. “For the longest time, I simply believed myself to be broken.”

“Oh, Kuai Liang.” It was inconceivable, the idea that he could think there was something wrong with him for something so normal.

“It was a while before I realised that what they were seeing in women, I was seeing in men.” He pursed his lips slightly, glancing down at his bowl. “I believe I am what they refer to as a cut sleeve.” Harumi was vaguely familiar with the term he was referring to, at least enough to understand what he was saying. He was a homosexual. “At least, that is what I had believed until…”

“Until me?” Harumi finished. She wasn’t sure what to make of it, if she was honest.

“Yes, and I know what your next question is going to be,” Kuai said firmly, making sure she couldn’t sneak it in quickly. “You are going to ask me why, and I am not going to be able to answer you, because I don’t know.” Somehow, it seemed like that was the easiest part of everything for him to admit. “I do not know why I feel so differently about you, but I do. You are the first and only woman who I’ve found more than nice.”

“Oh,” Harumi chriped, unable to stop herself from smiling. “Well, I’m very glad to hear that.”

Really, regardless of what Kuai’s sexuality was, it didn’t matter to her. His feelings for her were genuine, she could tell from the way he spoke. She knew she felt the same about him too. Those were really the only two things that mattered.

And somehow, “more than nice” was the greatest compliment she had ever received.

You know what kinda bothers me about the way they are setting up the canon couples in mk1? They have little to absolutely no build up, and I get the main focus of the game is not romance BUT if you are going to establish a new couple in your game, or make old couples meet again, at least have some build up other than an ending and some random mentions 😔💔

It happened with Syzoth and ashra, it also happened with kuairumi (yeah ik we get the childhood friend mention but..that’s it 😭) and I fear it might happen with cageblade and kenshi/suchin and Jax/Vera to get it out of the way

Clearing up a very recurring misunderstanding:

The Shirai Ryu was NOT built using Harumi's clan!

"Also incensed by Bi-Han’s betrayal, Harumi agreed to help me forge a new clan. One that would stand against him and defend Earthrealm.

Her aid proved invaluable. And as time went on, we grew closer."

The Shirai Ryu was built from the ground by Kuai and Tomas WITH HARUMI'S HELP, she did not give away her clan, Kuai did not use her clan as foundation for his and they did not merge their clans.

Harumi's clan still exists and it's NOT the Shirai Ryu!

Every time her clan is brought up, it's either to say Harumi gave up on it or that Kuai took advantage of their relationship and took it for himself. And ultimately is used as an excuse to shit on the Kuairumi ship. And I'm tired of seeing these takes being spread all over when they are so clearly FAKE and so easily DEBUNKED by a 2 minutes vídeo.

You know what bugs me the most about the "Hanzo is now Kuai and Harumi's kid"?

🌸🌸 The Order of Cetrion: The Protectors of Life and Virtue 🌸🌸

I was thinking. It is a bit sad that we know nothing about Harumi's clan.

BUT, as Harumi is my main girl and making AUs and Headcanons for her has become a second nature, I thought, "Oh, well! Why not create a clan for her myself? :D"

And thus came: The Order of Cetrion!

Hear me out!

It is canon that Harumi has connections with the Umgadi, so two possibilities came to mind:

The Shirai family came from Outworld.

Their matriarch was a Umgadi who was unsatisfied with their chastity rules and fled to Earthrealm to build something of her own.

She married an Earthrealmer, and so came the first generations of Shirai in Earthrealm.

But I like this one better:

The Shirai are originally from Earthrealm, and for generations, the Grandmistresses, the matriarchs of the Shrai family, have led their clan in defence of Earthrealm (though in a smaller scale in comparison to the Lin Kuei).

They were requested by Lord Liu Kang to participate in the Mortal Kombat on behalf of Earthrealm.

The current Grandmistress herself volunteered as champion and won the tournament!

Her skills did not pass unnoticed by the leader of the Umgadi, who, with the permission of her Queen, Sindel, invited her to stay longer and exchange skills.

Every generation of Grandmistress-to-be was invited to visit Outworld and train with the Umgadi before they could take on their role as head of their clan.

The latest Grandmistress to be invited by the Queen was Harumi Shirai. She was trained by the Umgadi leader at the time, Li Mei.

Harumi trained along two Outworlders named Tanya and Jade and a fellow Earthrealmer named Suchin. They became good friends!

Now, you must be wondering, "Why the Order of Cetrion?"

I imagine Liu was initially taken aback by the idea of bringing Cetrion back, given her corruption and deception. However, Liu considered that if there's one thing that can corrupt, it is fear.

Cetrion feared her mother and the consequences of going against her designs.

But now. Now Kronica was gone, and Cetrion had nothing to fear! There were no secret designs and no sacrifices to be made.

The Goddess of Virtue was free. Free to be virtuous and free to fight for life!

She became a much more active goddess, making actual efforts to protect Earthrealm. She felt joy like never before!

The Shirai were not the first to worship her. But were the first to offer to build a clan of warriors in her name and aid her in her mission to defend Earthrealm.

In exchange for their services, Cetrion gifted them with the most prosperous lands, one their could grow any sort of plant (even the outworldly ones) at any time of the year, so the Shirai could develop and spread their herbalist skills!

The Shirai Gardens are well known for being guarded by magical (poisonous, hallucinogenic) plants!

Another good question you may have is: "Are only women allowed?"

Yes. Much like the Umgadi, only women are allowed to become warriors of Cetrion.

However, men are allowed into the clan if they are to marry one of the warriors!

When a man wishes to marry one of Cetrion's warriors, he must first prove himself worthy of her!

He must go through a trial by combat and face the Grandmistress herself. It is not expected that the man defeats her, just that he fights and persists. Only then, it is proved how willing he is to become hers.

Kuai Liang was named honorary Cetrion warrior when he was merely a boy, perks of being Harumi's best friend. However, it did not free him from the trials!

Kuai Liang fought the Grandmistress Harumi Shirai, and through every flaming punch, he made clear how much he wanted to be hers!

2 years later, another warrior fought for her hand, the first Shirai Ryu Initiate, Hanzo Hasashi!

The warriors were allowed to have as many partners as they desired as well as date among themselves. The Grandmistress performed the trials as well as the weddings!

Only someone above the Grandmistress could perform her wedding, so Harumi invited her former teacher, Li Mei, to perform the ceremony.

Her brother-in-law Tomas walked her down the aisle.

Due to... family issues, Bi-Han did not participate her and Kuai's first wedding.

But by the time of their second wedding, he was in a much better place and agreed to walk both her and Kuai down the aisle.

MK1 Harumi Shirai Headcanons:✨️

Started as a list of Headcanons, but at some point, it became a small story about Harumi and her past.

The Shirai family was known to be a family of masters. Masters who had trained generations of legendary warriors.

The Shirai women were the most talented fighters, so talented they had caught the attention of another realm. More specifically, Outworld.

The Umgadi invited the Shirai women to train with them and share their skills.

Harumi also was taught the ways of the Umgadi. She was trained by Li Mei. Tanya was her classmate (they used to gossip and discuss who they thought was the prettiest princess, Tanya was very insistent it was Mileena).

The Shirai women were also talented herbalists, healers actually. Plenty of warriors owned them their lives.

Queen Sindel herself had granted the Shirai access to her gardens and their unique specimens of plants. Plants that, when mixed properly, granted miraculous healing properties!

In Outworld, these magical concoctions were seen as blesses. In Earthrealm, however, they were seen as witchcraft, and it did not take long till the Shirai women were deemed as witches.

The Shirai did not let it affect them. They kept their alliance with the Umgadi and Outworld, and they kept fabricating and sharing their concoctions made with Outworld's exotic flora.

They didn't stop helping the Earthrealmers either, even though their assistance wasn't always welcomed nor appreciated as it should.

They didn't stop looking after Earthrealm, but they did grow more careful. From a young age, Harumi was told to be cautious of the outsiders. They did not understand the world as well as they did. Did not understand the power a Shirai woman held.

Harumi was not secluded nor forbidden to interact with the world outside, but she had to be careful. She was taught to be up-to-date with technology, and during most of her childhood, her friends were online.

Her friends would come and go. One day they would log off and never talk to her again. Only one friend remained through all her life, a Chinese boy named Kuai Liang.

They met on a forum online, discussing fictional characters from some random TV show. Then they moved to MSN, where they would talk every day about everything.

Kuai was there for her on her best days and on her worst days. He was a great listener. He would hear her talk about her favourite book, Dune, for hours and hours. He would also listen and comfort her every time she came home, angry and frustrated, for being once again called a witch.

It took her a couple of years to actually build the courage to tell him why she was constantly called witch. She told him the women of her family had "a magical touch," and they could turn any plant into a magical healing potion.

She expected Kuai to disappear after that, to call her insane, or worse, join those who thought she was a witch. But he only told her that he understood. He told her he was cursed. He told her he had literal fire running through his veins while his entire family had ice.

He was different from others, as she was. They bond grew stronger, and whenever they needed an escape, they would seek each other's company.

When they were together, they did not feel alone, out of place. They did not feel like curses or freaks. They felt like they belonged.

As she grew up, Harumi's family started to fade. Her grandparents, aunts, and her beloved parents. Her mother lived a great part of her life as a Umgadi warrior and was buried as such. It was quite a comfort that she got to be buried among the people who loved and accepted her as she was.

When Harumi returned to Earthrealm, she found herself completely alone. The last Shirai. She expected to be alone as she grieved, but a certain boy had other plans.

Kuai Liang had only visited her a couple of times. When he managed to teleport himself to her home in secret from both their families.

He started visiting her more often. There was no one left to keep their relationship in secret from anyway.

Years later, he told her his father was ill, and she offered to heal him. If she could visit him, she was certain she could heal him.

Kuai Liang's older brother, Bi-Han, was adamant in not letting her come. She tried to slip some medicines, but Bi-Han had caught her. He came to her home and told her that though her services were appreciated, they were not necessarily.

"It's almost like you want him to die," she dared say. He was difficult to read, but she could swear she saw pain in his eyes. "He lived a good life, worthy of a warrior, there's no reason to prolongate it," was his answer. He carelessly threw the medicine on her table and left.

She did not hear from Kuai from that day on.

Months later, she heard rumours of a new Grandmaster taking over the Lin Kuei. But heard nothing of Kuai Liang.

Then she heard rumours of disagreements between the new Grandmaster and his second in command, and that was the closest she had heard of Kuai Liang.

She heard rumours of a threat from Outworld and the Lin Kuei conspiring in favour of that threat.

She heard of a war so big that went beyond their realms. She heard of Champions ascending.

She heard the Lin Kuei would no longer assist Earthrealm, they would not be against it, but wouldn't fight for it anymore.

And only then did she hear of Kuai Liang. When he was practically on her doorstep. He had made it to Japan, along with his brother, Tomas Vrbada. They were being hunted down for treason. They needed help. They needed to be saved. And she saved them without an ounce of hesitation.

When Kuai and Tomas started to live with her, it was, honestly, quite awkward. She had grown used to an empty house, and Kuai Liang showing up after months of silence certainly didn't help.

She was not angry at him though, and she still cared for him deeply. One night she would offer to prepare a concoction for the huge scar on his face. It would not make it disappear, of course, but it would help with the pain.

After taking a couple weeks to heal, the former Lin Kuei brothers would start their mission to assemble a clan that would replace the Lin Kuei as part of Earthrealm's defences. Harumi offered to help. And before Kuai could protest, she reminded him of the long history of her family as trainers of legendary champions. She had the experience they only dreamed to have.

The first attempts were a failure, partly because Harumi was rather demanding. She wouldn't train anyone, wouldn't accept anyone. Her students had to be fully committed, if they weren’t they did not even have to bother staying.

Meanwhile, Kuai was worried about his brother. Wondering how he was doing on his own. It was then that he learned that Harumi had something akin to a spy.

Bi-Han did not allow Harumi to send medicines to his father, but allowed her to send it to someone else. Cyrax had recently transitioned, and Harumi's concoctions were of great help! Harumi would willingly deliver her the medicine without any cost, but Cyrax insisted on doing something in return, so Harumi asked: "Keep us informed of Bi-Han’s wellbeing"

Being up-to-date with Bi-Han’s condition certainly eased Kuai Liang's heart. His mood increased greatly, and he started to act more like himself. More like the person Harumi fell in love with years ago.

It was no secret that there was something between the two, but distance always made it difficult to figure it out. Now, sharing the same roof, it all became clearer. They were in love, and slowly and carefully, they started to act of these feelings...

One night, Tomas brought a guest to her home. He insisted that their guest was a child, but Harumi and Kuai could tell from first glance he was an adult, at least 20, but seemingly younger due to malnourishment.

Harumi couldn't quite explain, but there was something about this guest, this Hanzo Hasashi figure. Something... familiar! She felt as if they had already met, but not on this life, no, more likely in another...

I have more headcanons for her, but they might spoil some things I have plans to write, so I'll share only these... for now👀🩷

Hey everyone! Remember when I told y'all I was gonna make a huge post about Harumi Shirai being playable? Well, it's heeeeere!! :D ✨️

Before we start! A thanks to @meme099 for requesting this post and a thanks to all my Harumi girlies (in special @mikka-minns @thedragonholder @madamealtruist @orbitinytheworld and @running-with-the-feels ) who have always been so supportive of my Harumi content! Hope you guys enjoy this!🩷

Canon info used as inspo:

Harumi and Kuai are childhood friends and are in a relationship;

Harumi is head of her clan (that is not the Shirai Ryu);

Harumi uses her knowledge as Grandmistress to help Kuai and Tomas assemble the Shirai Ryu;

Harumi has connections with the Umgadi.

Everything else I used is based on Headcanons of mine, Harumi's clan being the most blatant case, I'll be linking previous posts in case you want more details!

I wanted to make Harumi a brand new character, with her own unique backstory and skill set! (It's what she deserves)

New Playable Fighter: Harumi Shirai🌸

🌸 Bio:

Fierce leader, talented herbalist and honorary Umgadi, Harumi Shirai is the head of her clan, the Order of Cetrion.

Founded by her ancestors and composed by women only, her clan uses their skills to aid the Elder Goddess of Life and Virtue, Cetrion, in her never-ending mission to protect all life in Earthrealm.

Nowadays, Harumi is not only the Grandmistress of her clan, but also mentor of her childhood friend and lover, Kuai Liang, as he struggles and persists in his quest to assemble a clan that will rival the Lin Kuei's might and serve as Earthrealm's new line of defence.

🌸 Gear:

As stablished in the previously mentioned posts The Daughters of Cetrion are herbalists with access to Outworldly magic and spices, so most her arsenal will reflect that!

Bottles of healing potions and deadly poisons.

Pouches of grated herbs that can heal, cause allergic reactions and, of course, kill. (Pocket sand!)

A scythe (small one, used to harvest plants but can and will slit a throat)

It is canon that Harumi has connections with the Umgadi and it's safe to assume she was trained by them (my HC is that Li Mei was her teacher), so I gave her an Umgadi skill:

Umgadi energy constructs. Only the Grandmistresses are allowed to learn this skill from the Umgadi. Harumi's constructs are pink and she shapes them like flowers and red foxes (a nod to her Animality).

🌸 Skins:

Now being quite fair, MK1 can be hardly known for its variety in skins. It is however, pretty creative when if comes to colour palettes, so I decided to rely on that!

Bellow you have Harumi's main outfit, the long sleeve nods to her canon fit while the rest was made with her clan in mind (the main reference were Cetrion's outfits)

The Grandmistress: The main colour. This is her Grandmistress outfit, all in pinkish tones, which I HC to be her family's colours)

The Scorpion: 1st colour variant has my Scorpion!Harumi colours, with a brighter shade of pink and yellow (the flower on her hair nods to her Scorpion hairpin)

Daughter of Cetrion: 3rd variation brings her clan's colours, a mix of her family's colours and Cetrion's. The colours are to represent their commitment as protectors of life and nature.

Li Mei's Apprentice: 4th variation is for her Umgadi outfit! She wears the traditional shades of yellow and silver!

The Shirai Ryu's Bride: 5th variation has Kuai's colours (and yes, the name is a nod to their relationship)

Honorary Lin Kuei: 6th variation might look controversial, but I find it hard to believe Harumi was only Kuai's friend. I HC Harumi was named honorary Lin Kuei warrior many years ago. (She wears Bi-Han’s colours to imply they were once friends too)

Bonus info:

Kuai has two of her colour palettes, "The Grandmistress" as nod to their relationship and "Daughter of Cetrion" as I HC him to be a honorary Cetrion warrior;

I drew Harumi slightly different here to make her resemble her new face model, Jiwon Ra, but I kept some of my HCs, meaning her freckles and slight heterochromia;

The tattoo on Harumi's arm is the Umgadi insignia and the pendant on her belt is her clan's.

🌸 Special moves:

Fireworks: Harumi shoots fireworks through her finger (Umgadi magic) they work as projectiles and can be shot to any height and also as she jumps or ducks; (it looks like Charlie's fireworks)

Witchy makes you dizzy: She throws a concoction that makes the opponent dizzy (it inverts your remote);

Pocket sand: She throws a pouch that makes the opponent cough (makes them stand in place)

They don't bite... much: Harumi creates two foxes with her constructs and sends them to bite the opponent;

Cetrion's healer: She uses one of her potions to heal herself.

Bonus: For stronger hits and during kombos, she will strike with her scythe;

She throws bottles and pouches of potions during her kombos.

The first and fourth move can become Brutalities. With "Fireworks" she blows up the opponent and with "They don't bite... much" her foxes eat the opponent alive.

🌸 Fatal Blow:

Beware the Forest Witch:

Harumi blows one of her powder mixes on the opponents face, the powder makes their skin itchy and they scratch their face aggressively (drawing a lot of blood).

She steps back and sends her foxes, the creatures start to bite, one of them givas a particularly strong bite, breaking the opponets leg, the other breaks their arm right after.

Harumi finishes the move with a firework attack, breaking the opponents ribs and sending them away!

The Fatal Blow can also be used as a brutality, her foxes will tear the opponents limbs off as they bite them!

🌸 Fatality:

Sacrifice for the Goddess:

Harumi uses her constructs to open holes into the opponent's chest and stomach.

She calmly walks closer, holding a pouch and a bottle as she's still deciding which one to use.

She places the pouch in the opponent's stomach hole and the bottle on their chest hole, only to change her mind at the last minute and replace the bottle with another one from her belt.

She places a smaller bottle at the opponent's mouth and slowly walks away.

The bottles and pouch explode into plants and vines with beautiful flowers that start to grow inside the opponent's holes and mouth as they fall backwards. The opponent starts to look like a gory flower pot.

From the opponent's mouth grows a singular pink flower, which Harumi gently plucks and sniffs as her victory is announced.

🌸 Intro animations:

When she's pushed away by her opponent, she carves her scythe on the ground to stop her momentum. Her foxes constructs are already by her side. She pets them to assure she's ok and raises up saying "my foxes will be eating well today"

When she's the one pushing, she distances herself with a one-handed cartwheel and a back flip. Her hands glows as she moves, summoning flowery shapes around them. She mocks the opponent calling them "fertilizer for Cetrion's gardens"

🌸 In-between rounds animation:

When she wins: She recreates her foxes constructs and pets them, sweetly calling them "good boys"

When she loses: She uses one of her potions to "heal" herself (she'll grunt in pain and anger as she does)

🌸 Victory animation:

She will use her constructs to slightly recriate this one victory animation of Cetrion from MK11. Her foxes will be lying by each of her sides.

🌸Ending:

"The arrival of Titan Shang Tsung inspired many other foes to rise and act on their darkest desires.

In their path they left behind only death and destruction. Among their victims, were the Living forests and the Capital of Seido.

As Daughters of Cetrion, it is my clan's duty to protect life and preserve the nature. Such disasters would never pass unnoticed by us.

Lady Cetrion healed the forest and put a stop to the flood that had already killed so many. In a way only her magic could!

My sisters and I helped as we could, searching for survivors, protecting and healing them.

Once they were out of harm, it was time to get them justice. Reunited with my old friends and mentor in the Umgadi, we went after the responsible for this atrocity.

Who do you personally cast as Harumi if she were to (hopefully) be playable? Me, I'd pick Sumalee Montano. Because 1) since she's the voice and mocap of Yuna in Ghost of Tsushima, it would be cute if she ended up being Jin's husband in another universe, and 2) because I think she has the range and capability to pull Harumi off. She's played so many badass characters like the aforementioned Yuna and Arcee from Transformers: Prime. Just listen to them both and tell me that’s not Harumi. Arcee’s snarky personality can also be for her more funnier interactions with Kuai Liang and Smoke 🤪

Also I kinda ship Jin and Yuna so it would be funnier if they end up becoming partners in two franchises 👀

I went after Sumalee's work as Arcee and Yuna, and oooh I can definitely see our vision, and I loved it!

I totally see Kuairumi in Yuna and Jin! Him being more reserved and doing his very best to look always so composed and in control, but just not being able to keep it together when he's around the pretty girl🤭 it's cute!

Meanwhile, she's more open about her feelings and makes sure he knows how much she cares for him!

It's an undeniably cute dynamic!

As for her work as Arcee, I believe Harumi would save the snarky attitude for her enemies and be more of a tease towards her friends!

Especially towards Kuai, who's completely out of his comfort zone and having to take a role he didn't want to nor was prepared to take!

She would tease him and make little jokes just to light up the mood. He would pout at her comments and, for a moment, would just forget about all his problems. It helps, even though he doesn't realise right away!

So, Sumalee is definitely a great choice!🩷

Now for my personal choice:

See, I'm Brazilian, and most of us take pride in our voice actors and the amazing work they do!

We have so many iconic voices, Guilherme Briggs, Flávia Saddy, Miriam Fisher, Marcio Seixas, and so, so, so many more!

So when I think of a voice for Harumi, I can only think of Brazilian voices for her. My personal favourite being:

Guilene Conte!

Here's a little compilation so you can hear her voice!

Her work as Rochelle from "Everybody Hates Chris" is LEGENDARY to the point whenever we hear Rochelle's actress, Tichina Arnold, speak in English it just feels sooo wrong!😂😂

Her works as Sarah Lance and Capitan Amélia were great, too. She has a really strong voice, fitting with a leader, I can definitely hear her commanding her warriors in defence of the Shirai Ryu!

She would also go personally to Kuai's defence when a student tries to be too bold on him, talking back and acting disrespectful, she would snap at them Rochelle style and make them wish they were never born (that definitely extends to Bi-Han), lol💀
