Classes for Kendra were like normal; Defense Against the Dark Arts with Remus, potions with Snape, Divination with Professor Trelawney and the list went on.
But ‘normal’ wasn’t a word that she was greatly familiar with. Kendra never knew normal and that was answered in divination. She had the class with the twins and Angelina, who she was quite grateful for.
That meant she had a partner and wouldn’t be the awkward third wheel when it came to the twins.
Professor Trelawney was Kendra’s favorite professor. She was kind to everyone, even those who weren’t kind to her. She always knew what was going on and that was probably due to the fact she had ‘the sight’ as she called it.
“What do you think will be in your cup, Kendra?” Angelina asked. “That I’m going to be very wealthy and live an amazing life.” Kendra joked. The two girls switched cups and examined each other’s.
Angelina’s was quite easy to figure out. Happiness, glory, the usual things a person would want to know about their future. Kendra looked at Angelina and saw her eyebrows furrowed.
“What is it?” Kendra asked. “I really don’t know.” Angelina started. “Professor, what is this in Kendra’s cup?” She asked the woman. Professor Trelawney picked up the cup but quickly threw it down once she peered inside.
“You’re the second student today, my dear. You have the Grim.” The professor said causing hushed whispers to start spreading around the classroom. “Who was the other student?” Kendra asked. “Harry Potter had it just this morning.” Professor Trelawney answered.
Kendra picked up the tea cup and couldn’t miss that the symbol for death was a large dog. Her father’s animagus. “It probably has to do with her lunatic father.” A Ravenclaw student spoke up.
“Shut up.” George snapped at the boy. Class was dismissed shortly after and Kendra quickly left the room. “Kendra! Wait!” She heard George call. She slowly came to a stop to wait for the boy to catch up to her.
“Don’t take anything in that class seriously. I’m sure everything is going to be fine.” He told her. “George, you’re my best friend and I love you but I really don’t think everything is going to be fine this time.” Kendra said in a more hushed tone.
George ignored the way his heart leaped when Kendra said ‘I love you’ and Kendra tried to greatly ignore the butterflies that formed in her stomach. “That’s your natural pessimism talking, love. For once just try to listen to me.” George said.
The dark haired girl looked up at him before groaning. “Fine. Just this once will I listen to George Weasley.” She teased. “This will definitely be the first time.” He teased back.
The two were soon joined by Fred and the three walked to the Great Hall together. It was what they called “free period” or “study hall” in the muggle world.
A time when no one usually had classes and sat in there and studied, did homework or socialize with their housemates.
The dark haired girl caught glimpse of her cousin and saw him with a sling on his arm. And Pansy Parkinson fawning over him as per usual.
“What the bloody hell happened to Malfoy?” Kendra asked, sitting down at the table. “Hagrid had a hippogriff in class today and he attacked Malfoy. His father is furious, no one knows what’s going to happen.” Hermione explained. “If Lucius is involved that poor animal is as good as dead.” Kendra commented.
The table fell into a silence at her comment, causing Kendra to look at them confused. “I’m sorry, that was a bit harsh.” She apologized.
“He’s been sighted! He’s been sighted!” Seamus yelled running towards his friends. “Who?” Hermione asked. “Sirius Black!” Seamus replied, tossing the paper on the table. “Duff Town? That’s not far from here.” Hermione said.
Kendra curled into herself, knowing that the comments were coming and the scrutiny would worsen. “You don’t think he’d come to Hogwarts.” Neville commented. “I don’t know, ask Kendra.” Seamus laughed. She sent the boy a glare, causing the smile to wash away from his face rather quickly.
“He can’t get past the dementors.” A boy spoke. “He’s done it before what’s to say he won’t do it again?” Seamus replied.
Kendra slammed her book down on the table before making a hasty exit from the Great Hall. Hermione scolded her classmate for making such distasteful comments about Kendra’s father. Fred and George glanced at each other, mentally deciding who should be the one to go talk to Kendra.
“You’re more sensitive to this stuff. It has to be you.” Fred told his twin. “But you make her laugh more.” George rebutted. Though that was far from the truth.
Both twins could make Kendra laugh until her sides hurt but it was George who could always cheer her up.
“That’s a lie. Now go talk to her. If you need back up, then let me know.” Fred said. George paused for a second before he stood up to follow after Kendra.
He had no idea where she could’ve run of to. She had a million hiding places in the castle where she went to when she was feeling especially overwhelmed.
George pulled out the map he and Fred had stolen from Filch a couple years back, and scanned for the girl’s name.
When he spotted it, he should’ve known that’s where she’d go. The Astronomy tower. Kendra had always had a fascination with the stars. She thanked Andromeda for that. Always teaching her a new constellation or telling her the almost always tragic backstory behind it.
Astronomy was always Kendra’s comfort class. It made her feel better when she was overwhelmed or stressed out about something else.
George climbed the stairs of the tower and spotted the girl in question staring up at the still sunny sky.
“Should’ve known you’d be here.” He announced. “You came all the way here to talk to me?” Kendra questioned. “I wanted to make sure you were okay. I know none of this is easy for you. And it’s hard not listening to what everyone is saying.” George answered.
“It’s like it’s me against the world now. It was okay before. He was in Azkaban and all I had to worry about was the occasional comment about him. Now, he’s escaped and evidently on his way here. It’s so much worse now and it feels like I’m alone.” Kendra said.
George moved closer to the girl so they were shoulder to shoulder. “You’re not alone. You have me, Fred, Angelina, Harry, Hermione and even Ron. You’ll never be alone.” He said.
“Even on days when you think you want to be alone. I’m always gonna be there.” George added.
Kendra let out a sigh as she rested her head on George’s shoulder. “Thank you, George.” She said quietly. “Anytime.” George replied back, softly smiling down at her.

Hola~ It’s Amie. You might also know me as that WIK admin who deals with activity and hiatus pages. Or you may know me as Rodolphus Lestrange, or Walden Macnair, or Sybill Trelawney. The way to my heart is tag yourself memes, if I’m being honest so please share all of them with me. Anyway I’m super pumped to get to know you guys better and read all your surveys!! We’ve had some fun on the dash but let’s do that personal connection thing fam! (Sidenote: I put a cut on this because it got really long and I felt bad with it just being in your face lol)
Morning or night person? Night person. Although not so much by choice anymore? Like don’t get me wrong, I’m not a morning person by any standards and I think it’s criminal to be awake before 9 a.m. – but most of my being a night person comes from the fact that I close at work like 90% of the time. So, like while I’m not a morning person, it’d be super cool to interact with people before it’s super late. I guess I’m an afternoon person.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Favorite pizza topping? P I N E A P P L E. Yes, it does belong on pizza. Yes, I will argue with you about it until the day I die. But to quote Dream Daddy, where it was put best, “I respect your opinion, and I will fight with my life for your right to say it. But where’s your sense of adventure? Where’s your sense of taste? Why won’t you love yourself?”
Your zodiac sign? Aries. Though I am a cusp sign so like, Aries/Taurus. But like when it comes down to it, Aries, 110%. And I’m sorry about that. (Like not really sorry, but you get me)
Your Hogwarts house? Ravenclaw. Though the last time I took the pottermore quiz it got to the end and was like ‘okay but do you think you are more Ravenclaw or Slytherin?’ So I guess I walk a fine line between them.
Do you like a lot of ice in your drinks or a little? As little as possible, to none. I hate watered down drinks. Plus the more ice you have the less room you have for like actual drink so no thanks.
What song is the one song you know every word to without thinking about it? Like 80% of the Hamilton soundtrack. But also 100% Wannabe by Spice Girls. I went bowling with my friends recently, and Wannabe came on...it was almost embarrassing how quickly I started dancing and I sung the entire song without missing a beat.
Too hot or too cold? Too cold. I can always find more blankets, and sweaters, and heaters. I can not walk around naked in public or peel off my skin if it’s too hot, so hard pass. Plus who likes to sweat? No one.
If you had to pick a fictional universe to live in, other than Harry Potter, what would you pick? Star Trek. While Dragon Age would be a close second, gotta be Star Trek. I would sign up for Starfleet tomorrow if they’d let me.
Coffee or Tea? Both. Hot tea with honey, Sweet Tea – Southern sweet tea, Iced Coffee, PSLs, Hot Coffee. Like I’ll take it all please and thank you.
Cold Pizza for Breakfast or Breakfast for Dinner? Breakfast for dinner. I will always eat pancakes. Always. Or biscuits and gravy. Or an amazing steak and egg breakfast. Listen, I work at Cracker Barrel okay I’m always surrounded by amazing breakfast food and I love it all. And while it’s good in the morning, there’s something much more satisfying about having it after noon.
What’s your aesthetic? (have fun with this, be it just answering a picspam, a pintrest board go nuts) I have a pinterest board for that... but see also: Stacks of video games, concert ticket stubs, band t-shirts, mismatched socks, forgotten mugs of hot tea, & brightly colored vans.
If you encountered a boggart what form would it take? Darkness. Commitment. GETTING MARRIED IN A COMPLETELY BLACKED OUT ROOM WITHOUT EVER HAVING PAID OUT MY STUDENT LOANS THUS DYING IN DEBT. Listen I know that’s extra and probably too deep and idk how a boggart would pull it off but like that’s what it’d be. See also: Spiders.
What Hogwarts subject do you think you’d excel at? Arithmancy. I like numbers. I wish I was cooler, but I’m not.
Butterbeer or Firewhiskey? Firewhiskey probably. Though having had butterbeer at WWoHP, that stuff is amazing and I’m kinda glad they don’t sell it by the bottle because I would be diabetic in a month.
With which fictional character do you feel you most identify? Chandler Bing probably. As I too am uncomfortable with emotions, and make jokes and sarcastic comments to cope, and am no good with giving advice. However, most recently, Finn Wolfhard’s portrayal of Richie Tozier in IT. I’ve seen the movie twice now, and the entire time I was like #relatable and my friend I went with was like ‘hey, you’re that kid and I’m the kid with the fanny pack’.
With which character from War is Kind do you feel most identify? I feel like I shouldn’t pick one of my own characters for this, but honestly Sybill. Because like, she does have a load of insecurities, but she doesn’t let them stop her. And she’s struggled to find a job doing what she really wants to do because no one take her seriously and honestly RELATABLE. I mean I’m not quite the party girl and little stoner that she is, but there are just so many things that like I’ve seen with her in my head, and I can’t wait for you guys to see, that make me choose her.
