Chay making me physically cringe breaking out the L-word bestie this guy kissed you on the cheek one time and then u had a cuddle calm down (he’s cute it’s allowed but also I did cringe)

Speaking of KimChay if the reason they didn’t kiss properly last ep is because of the age gap between the actors like I understand but also. why did you cast actors with such a big age gap then. obviously they’re both amazing but weird choice if it means that KimChay can’t actually even act like they really like each other

Okey more dramatically: BIG. “Kinn really loves you” aaaaaaaaa

I’m curious about if we’ll see any more of the characters that died in this episode later in flashbacks and stuff. like Nodt mentioned in interviews that Big is in love with Kinn and ik that’s a thing in the books but afaik it wasn’t addressed in the show :( I would liked to have seen that. I didn’t expect Big to die because i thought he still had that storyline to explore! sad :(

Rlly interesting that Big wasn’t the mole like in the books but he still died :( rip king ur hair was so cool and u were so gender :(

more importantly to me personally and my own actor bias, plsssss I don’t want that to be the last we see of Ken :( i want flashbacks pls :( the mole reveal was So good and i was especially so excited because i thought it’d mean more screen time for my bestie Perth and then lmaooo immediately he was brutally murdered. SAD.

i really hope we’ll see more about why he was the mole cause that wasn’t explained at all! what was his motivation? I LOVED that Vegas seduced Tawan to get him on his side and i think that’d be soooo funny if that was also what happened with Ken lmao

finally like every episode i have to ask. WHY DO THEY CENSOR THE SUBTITLES?!?!?! I KNOW THEY ARE SWEARING IN THAI AND A LOT OF THE TIME VEGAS OR KEN ARE SWEARING IN ENGLISH SO WHY DO THE ENGLISH SUBTITLES PRETEND THEY’RE NOT SWEARING ITS SO CRINGE

no but for real it was especially bad this episode because all the characters were so tense and clearly swearing a Lot and then the subtitles made them sound like they talk like children hrrr it really takes me out of the show because it’s so much less dramatic when i’m laughing because they’ve translated stuff as “what the flip” dhsjsjsjsn

Vegas yelling, in English “THIS WASN’T THE FUCKING PLAN” while the subtitles say “this wasn’t the freaking plan” lmaooooo

what are chrysi and azures fav flavours??? what do u imagine their voices to sound like owo!! what are flowers that u think represent chryzure + chrysijacks best....and also any songs that ur listening to rn that remind u of chrysijacks/chryzure??

chrysi’s fav flavors are p much cherry + strawberry!! she likes the colors red and pink in flavor <333 azure’s fav flavors are green tea or chai, maybe?? he likes subtler flavors… that said, he won’t say no to chocolate!!

their voices are harder to pinpoint for me… i think chrysi’s voice is a little lower, more of an alto… i think abt it in terms of singers (her speaking voice varies from time to time, but it’s generally something that’s a mid-range, alto, a bit rough? jst in terms of how irreverent her tone can affect her speaking), so i’d say the closest music artist would be the singers in the crane wives? and i can’t tell if it’s jst bc i associate lots of allie x songs w chryzure, but i think allie x has a voice somewhat like chrysi. it’s a bit higher than i’d assign chrysi, but do you get where i’m coming from? also chrysi has a bit of a boston accent on certain words, even though she grew up in salem, massachusetts… it’s close enough!!!

azure’s defs a tenor and his voice tends to be a whole lot smoother. almost musical? the rhythm with which he speaks is very influenced by the different languages he learned, so it makes his words come out with interesting pauses and such. his french accent doesn’t rlly slip out frequently, since he had an accent tutor growing up,, his father rlly wanted azure to fit in no matter where he went. unfortunately, azure does not fit in,,, anyway, ummm, probably bc i also associate a lot of tamino w chryzure, i think tamino gives me vv strong azure vibes in terms of speaking (once juno compared tamino’s appearance w azure’s and i bluescreened, so. take that fun fact as well!!!! sighs…. <33)

flowers to represent chryzure,,, i always think of wisteria?? i think it fits them vv well frm appearance-wise to “wistful” being a word i associate w both wisteria and chryzure. i dunno if this makes sense, but also, i looked up the meanings + some of them mentioned new beginnings, longevity and endurance, patience and honor… that’s chryzure <333 they are wisteria!! (side note, i also vv associate weeping willows w chryzure!)

is it cheating if i say apple blossom for chrysijacks??? i jst think.. it represents a lot of their childhood together… they grew up playing in jacks’s apple orchard!! they spent so many springs there watching the apple blossoms bloom!! plus it means vitality/long life, and boy, jacks has lived a long life!!!

okokokok. i am 2 eps from the end of s12 and. i have many feelings. BRO I CANT BELIEVE KAI N COLE WENT DOWN LIKE THAT!!!!! THEY BOTH DESERVED BETTERR :(((( ASDGKJFGJKSD GOD I WISH THE "DEATHS" IN NINJAGO WERE MORE IMPACTFUL. IK THAT IT WOULDNT WORK BC THEN IT WOULD BE TOO DARK FOR KIDS OR SMTH BUT LIKE 😭😭😭😭 ALSO OMG THE FORESHADOWING… LIKE HOW JAY WAS THE ONE TO PICK UP THE FIRST KEYTANA AND THEN HES THE LAST ONE LEFT WHO HAS TO PUT THEM IN… if this show would be allowed to be darker i am 100% convinced it would be better than almost all marvel movies. but thats just my opinion!! if you like it just the way it is thats cool :D i mean, its kind of a comfort watch to me at this point after all :) on another note i know that nya and jay are dating but its a bit weird bc jay DOES act like hes in love w nya (or at least sometimes) but nya doesnt rlly if ykwim?? theres the possibility that her love language is more acts of service and quality time but even if that happens its off-screen :( they are actually one of the straight couples that i feel have potential and i wish they were a bit more developed!

it has its good moments and bad moments (i.e. good writing and bad writing lol)

ninjago would have better couples if they'd let the ninja be gay

To Dan, I know that the chance of me meeting you is nearly zero and I wouldn't get to thank him for creating ghostbusters & ray, but I still wanna say that, I thanked you decision to share your hyperfixation on the paranormals that inspires you to make this silly ghost movies because they now become my most favorite movie and I don't think any other can top these. Ray has just being the positive light in my life though I've only known you through the screens for two years and even then— he bring so much comfort and noted myself that I'm worth it. In ways I can't describe & deserving, thank you for making me felt loved and stay as my safe space in my down times.

how i would have changed s2 of hsmtmts

obvious disclaimer but im not a screenwriter or anyth so im not claiming what i want is best, this is just for fun lololol

okay so first of all nini would still have dropped out of yac but she wouldn’t have gone back to east, she would have transferred to north bc she was too ashamed to tell anyone she left at first and maybe she still wants to explore who she is away from ricky and the others

nini could join north’s batb and this way maybe we could have some playful rivalry with lily and nini and more scenes with antoine shdhdjdj also it could have been a great opportunity to flesh out lily’s character so those scenes where she reaches out to ricky and her confession at the end of the season actually make sense lol

speaking of ricky ,,, i think he should have left the play at some point hear me out. he only joined in the first place because of nini and barely wanted to do it at all once he realized he wasn’t gonna be able to perform with her. he could have joined crew and been a manager with natalie or smth considering he rlly does see the theater gang as a second family. also this would leave so much room for ej and ricky development and bants since ej joined the av club and began to pursue film. they could have some convos where idk ricky asks ej how he figured out what he wanted to do after duke didn’t work out and ricky could actually develop some interests that arent the play or nini ,,, maybe fucking art club i mean he did p good on that centerpiece for carlos’ quinceañera.

with ricky not being the beast anymore i think seb should take his place that would be soooo good. and since seb isn’t chip anymore carlos won’t make those snide comments about chip being a small unimportant role and we can just cut that whole fight bc it was dumb and bad. we could still have seb being insecure that carlos is only dating him bc there aren’t really any other gay guys at school. in a heartbeat is great and i did like ricky being supportive in the background it was kinda funny too idk dhdjdjfj

ooh i almost forgot abt rini ahshdj okay so i still think they should break up. but in my version there’s no ricky pulling an ej 1.0 and deleting comments off of nini’s insta, cause with ricky in art club and nini at north trying to figure out what she wants i think one of them would realize that they’re going in different directions and only got back tgt because they made each other feel safe cause what they had was familiar. this could be triggered by ricky mentioning smth abt nini at yac and then nini breaks down and tells him that she dropped out and is at north and doesn’t know where she’s going. and then they can both realize they aren’t good for each other rn and have a less tragic mutual break up.

honestly i really liked the scene of nini taking charge after miss jenn freaked out cause with the character detail of nini giving every person in the cast of productions she’s in a thank you note she just seems really like someone who is suited to lifting others up. this could still be explored at north, maybe she could help lily through her issues that were briefly implied in ep 11 and nini realizes she wants to be a drama teacher and encourage kids to go off book and put themselves into their acting, something she couldn’t have at yac.

okay now ej ,,, so like i said in ricky’s section, more bants between them cause i feel like friendships kinda fell by the wayside due to all the relationships so more friendship !!!! also the scene where ej tells his dad he’s not going to duke shouldn’t have been an ending scene, it should have been fleshed out with his dad pushing back saying how he pulled all these strings to get him in and ej saying he doesn’t wanna go if his own hard work couldn’t get him there. and also more scenes of ej doing av club things !!! and realizing he rlly likes film and wants to do it OMG IT WOULD BE SO COOL IF HE BROKE THE FOURTH WALL AND ASKED THE DOCUMENTARY CREW ABT THE FILM INDUSTRY god i would love that. the only scene we rlly got of ej doing film things was at the quinceañera which made me kinda sad. uhhh also i just wanted to specifically mention how ej got mr mazzara that job at cal tech bc it really showed how he wanted to be there for people not just for gina, who he had a crush on, but for mr mazzara who supported him outside of romance, so i wanna keep that for sure.

gina !!! okay so i mostly liked her arc in this season, the only changes i would make would be to flesh it out a teeny bit (god this hypothetical s2 would have to be like 22 eps at least shdjdjdjfj) anyways besides ashlyn singing home to get gina to stay i think there should be a scene where they actually talk in her room abt how gina feels safer when shes on the run (second chance reference ilysm) hhhh and also a scene of her and carlos actually working out compromises for their choreo cause i liked that bit of development too and fleshing that out would make gina an even better foil for lily, who felt a need to hog the spotlight like gina used to. with gina’s own arc fleshed out her character would feel more whole independently from romance and portwell would be even more rewarding than it is in the current s2. the only thing i would really change abt portwell is that they would kiss !!! in the finale but thats bc im biased.

ashlyn should have gotten a more fleshed out storyline about being insecure about not being a good enough belle or the typical belle. there were some throwaway lines when north did their typical dramatics but the only two real scenes that showed it were when ash talked to big red about it and when she was telling nini she wanted to do a run in “home” bc lily did it. ashlyn should get more screen time where she has to grapple with the reasons she doesn’t feel good enough and big red can still support her but also gina too bc i would like more roommate besties interaction.

kourtney could still date howie, that harry potter shit was cute but there needs to be smth else for kourtney’s arc. idk she’s still into fashion so maybe she could be out here trying to create her own line or smth? this doesn’t have to be resolved in s2 like making a wholeass line takes time and she could work on it into a potential s3. kourtney just didnt get much outside of howie and the stuff at the beginning of the season where she said nini inspired her to be independent and that's why she got a job was just dropped?? so i think that fashion could fill that for her if she’s still dating howie cause like having her whole arc just be the pizza place kinda overlaps w big red’s mini arc abt how he wasn’t settling for hospitality, its what he wants to do with his life.

ik what ur thinking. anna, even if you added more episodes, where would u find the room to add all these plotlines?? well first we cut (most of) the seblos fight, so thats some time saved. honestly most of the time that we r going to gain is going to be from cutting ms jenn’s time. things like ms jenn’s and nini’s car ride would get cut, but mostly all of ms jenn’s romances would get cut down. considering she’s the teacher and isn’t actually a character with an arc how does she have THREE love interests this season?? like all of the weird tension between her and zack can be cut, like just some short scenes of them being competitive can stay. all of the stuff with ricky’s dad can go bye bye we don’t need it. i did like her w mr mazzara so most of that can stay i just didn’t like how he said he would give up cal tech for her, ew no that would be gone.

the MENKIES !!!! this is the last thing im gonna address cause in a perfect world every character would get a long fleshed out arc but then the season would be waaay too long and also im mostly trying to work within material the show gave so this is mostly made up of “realistic” deviations from what actually happened. lol idk what that even means it just makes sense to me. but anyways!! uhhh bro idk i thought them dropping the menkies was funny but it also made the finale really BAD lmao. in this finale, seb is the beast, east still had to deal w the fact that they’re underfunded compared to north but no one is injured, lily is less of a poorly written character and maybe ppl are even rooting for her, and wow i just realized i never actually said what role i think nini should have in north’s show. OOH she could be student director instead of lily cause lily both being in the play while also directing was weird considering omg i just checked and according to her wiki page shes a FRESHMAN?? and they let her be student director? lol hell nah. okay so with all that in mind ,,, the menkies should have been the season cliffhanger instead of portwell. east and north should both be nominated, both schools perform at the menkies, and then the award winner is about to be announced and THATS when it cuts to natalie and the end of the season.

one, this actually gives more tension for a summer s3 as we would be waiting to see the consequences of whichever school won. also i bet people would be wondering if nini’s gonna be transferring back to east or staying at north. people would also prob wonder if ej would be getting the scholarship if east won and what that would mean for his interest in film.

we got three whores to focus on. ignore all other npcs only two of them are mentioned regularly. the whores being:

now you think the main setting would be the school theyre at, right? wrong. this is also barely mentioned, save for the scattered Actual Class Scenes

currently (as of ep 16) they’re on spring semester freshman year. yknow, the semester of college where u suddenly decide to change ur major and start trying to join a sorority.

now we got that all covered, we talk Plot (as much plot as i remember):

think of Sky High. remember the dynamics there? that’s here too. in the beginning eps, all three whores are lame little lackeys just getting through gen eds. imposter syndrome bitch also got a superiority complex over his gifted-kid-related trauma about this

(once again, important to note the classes have No Meaning to the plot.)

pirates of the caribbean also learns from Mysterious Bird Man that his mother belonged to The Masons: But Make It Fantasy.

sentient mossy rock also sometimes does things without knowing why. is he dissociating?? no. you’ll find out why in a second.

anyway, scottish jack sparrow joins the masons and is assigned his first solid snake mission: find out all the hot goss on imposter syndrome.

THEN ITS WINTER BREAK. they fight some imps. travis was way too proud of this bit. imposter syndrome and scot sparrow are a little homoerotic.

and also a random npc is written out of the story which makes imposter syndrome paranoid.

somewhere around winter break imposter syndrome gets promoted to Disney Villain by the Main Headmaster. this will be important Kind Of.

imposter syndrome and sentient moss have a convo and decide they cant trust Disney’s Pirates Of the Caribbean Ride In Scotland bc he sneaks out too much to get schwasty w the masons.

mossman admits he doesn’t know what he’s doing sometimes (me too buddy) and imposter syndrome clocks his vibe and finds out he’s been brainwashed! swag

because of the removed npc, the government sends Random Woman With A Nice Name to watch over class proceedings. remember when sometimes the principal would sit in on classes for teacher’s performance reviews?? like that but more Law & Order.

moss admits to nice woman that he’s afraid bc his brain got yoinked. she gives him a listening device to help. this literally becomes useless within the next episode.

imposter syndrome talks abt his paranoia w nice woman bc he thinks he’s gonna die. pirate boy talks abt his insecurity complex bc he thinks the hot himbo he lives w doesnt like him.

these conversations happen in succession.

also pirates of the caribbean finds out imposter syndrome is....an imposter! sends a nicely written, lightly homoerotic letter home to his imposter’s mom to get the facts.

those facts being he’s actually a country bumpkin himbo.

mossy cobblestone gets mindwiped to run to the Other Headmaster, and imposter and pirate follow. they learn that green top actually gave the headmaster permission to wipe his mind clean bc he has a rlly low deception roll, and also the real Main Headmaster is a dog bc travis runs this game. which makes Main Headmaster That Promoted Imposter Syndrome...An Imposter!!!

Other Headmaster explains in order to un-dog this man (and un-bird the npc who got removed from the plot but is suddenly back) he needs the apple from Snow White. currently two herds of centaurs are fighting over it, so they gotta Nab It.

Ep 1

The boys got the job to transport good from Neverwinter to Phandalin from Merles cousin, Gundren Rockseeker, over drinks at a bar one night. He said it was the “Last job you’ll ever need.”

Gundren Hired Barry Bluejeans (Originally Sildar Hallwinter, but that’s a whole nother post that I already posted you should go look at it tbh) as a fighter (I also will discuss this in a post later on as I’m going through the series again) escort to Phandalin.

The boys actually were travelling with Gundrens mutt of a dog, Ruby! (I feel like no one mentions this or talks about it)

Merle doesn’t trust Gundren a lot

Taako got the first kill babyyyyyyy

Ep 2

Barry looks like Tom Arnold with a very built Dad bod and is described to be in late 40’s early 50’s (So you’re telling me that my baby Barry. Is almost built similar to Magnus technically? Just smaller? This opens up so many things for another post later on omfg)

Magnus “The Hammer” Burnsides (omg do you think that this could be that Magnus was “The Hammer” and maybe Julia or her father was “Tongs” from the shop he lived’/ worked at in Ravens Roost???!!! Like idk if Travis had the name “Hammer and Tongs” in his backstory and i’m pretty sure he just made up the name on the spot for funsies but like that is so fricking sad and cute omfg)

Taako casts “Charm Person” on Klarg. The spell only lasts 1 hour (This will come up later for me to delv on because currently I don't understand how the stuff later on occurs)

”Let’s turn this Bugbear, into a Hugbear” ~Magnus (I wanna make a shirt with this rlly bad)

When chastising Barry for his name he snaps back saying “Why do you think they call me that?!” (I like to analyze things a bit deeper than they need to go so I’ve already posted another thing on Barry’s name)

Ep 3

As they get back to the cart of cargo to go to find Gundren Merle messes with Ruby for a minute and Griffin jokes around saying that Ruby bites Merles hand off. (Oh if they (Clint) only knew)

”I’ve partied pretty hard before I know I’m gonna have to sleep this one off” ~Barry (What the hell has Barry been up to? Like from a perspective of knowing how the story goes like. Is he just. Going to bars and letting him self go? I mean like same but shit dude)

“Well it’s not my first time at the whole body guard rodeo” ~Barry (So Barry has been able to stay in this body for a while then? And has also taken other jobs as well to get some money while also searching for the Gauntlet.)

Ep 4

When they meet Killian Merle begins to try and preach the word of Pan (Not actually Pan at the time in the podcast but for continuity's sake it was Pan damnit.) she replies with “I’m already spoken for” (So I don’t think that Killian is religious in a way that we know of so when she says this I assume shes talking about the BoB? Makes sense)

Magic Briannnnnn!!!!! (Love that spunky lil german man!)

Taako is from New Elfington (I believe this is just a joke overall but if you do deep dive into it just a lil then it suggests that Lucretia placed him in New Elfington after the Wipe to give him a starting place then from there he went on the road with Sizzle it up with Taako)

Magic Brian knows about the Phoenix Fire Gauntlet. (Ima go deeper into that later on tbh)

Ch 5

“Barry loves his chicken waaaaangs” ~ Gundren Rockseeker (How long have Barry and Gundren been hanging out?)

The skeleton only has a crimson red robe on. Nothing underneath. It is also looking towards the exit/entrance to the tunnel. (Did... her clothes go with her in the lich form?)

The Umbrastaff exudes all schools of magic. (I wonder why... DUH)

Merle is horribly rejected by the Staff and flung across the room (Lup said “FUCK U MERLE IM NOT HERE FOR YOUR OLD ASS”)

When Taako grabs the Umbra staff from the skeleton (*COUGHCOUGH*LUP*COUGHCOUGH*) it looks up at him and then it and the robe it’s wearing disintegrate away (Leaving no bones or anything that was Lup’s... There will be a bigger post on this later on I promise)

Cyrus was head of security for the Wave Echo Cave. When the Orc Marauders came he managed to lock away all the magical and precious treasures. However to do so he had to lock himself in the vault too. This happened about 10 Years ago. (Are you kidding me? Its not like the Orc Marauders are still in Phandalin. Why didnt anyone come to find him any earlier. Like come on Gundren. If you loved and missed your dad that much then why not?)

The Phoenix Fire Gauntlet is Silverish! (I always see it portrayed as being gold so I was v v surprised to hear this! tbh I don’t care what color it is I was just surprised to hear it described at all)

Magnus upon sight of the Gauntlet runs and highfives it (Someone made a post i saw a while back explaining how this is hilarious because you can see Magnus’ and Lup’s relationship within that simple action. Its very cute)

They fight some ruffians/bandits on the way back to Phandalin and they free a young Orc boy.

Ch 6

Merle calms Gundren down when they find him in Phandalin (Yo Merle and Gundren are a lot closer than they let on a the beginning. I wanna meet Aunt Blarg)

The young Orc boy (Kurtze) that they freed shot Gundren (Whoops...)

Gundren crushes Barry into the ground out of pure anger from Kurtze’s attack (Does Barry die from this? or does he just get super injured and die from the Gauntlet at the end?)

They fall into the well and knock Killian out

The entire town of Phandalin is gone and all that’s left is a circle of black glass. Only the hole for the well is open.

“Can we heal her? Its kinda what I do.” ~Merle (Oh honey... no it’s not)

Taako grabs the Gauntlet and puts it in his bag (of course he is the one to grab the relic that Lup made)

Killians Crossbow is named Billups (This is rlly frickin cute ngl)

They do be back on the way to the BoB

thinking abt s9 again and it still pisses me off how much of az's experiences and disability is viewed from callie's pov (like literally at some points). like disclaimer here bc i understand that the people around an amputee are affected by it too and i understand that (esp at the time) showing callie's pov and struggles was extremely novel. but callie's pov should have been a supplement to az's, not replacing it?? bc literally every single one of az's ig accomplishments?? 1/8 – darkness anon

are seen from callie's pov. it even goes into the way they film certain scenes. (note that i am not like a professional filmmaker but i did take courses on art interp) comparing two scenes - the scene where az walks across the apartment to the door w her prosthesis and like trips and breaks shit along the way vs the "i got back up" scene which are very different scenes that occur in the same location - i noticed smth rlly interesting abt the way the audience is positioned 2/8

in the first one. there is only one portion of the scene (lasting maybe one second) where we do not see arizona in frame. in fact, most of this scene, we see arizona from her side, and at the end, we see her facing forward, toward the camera. and that's significant bc when they do that, we don't see things like the character sees it. we see it like an audience. we literally don't see az's perspective even when she is the Only character on screen. the closest we get to that in this 3/8

is the split-second frame of the vase breaking and one of the outside of the apartment, pointing to where the files bailey promised should have been. what the scene conveys isnt necessarily az's experiences, as a result, and instead is showing us the results of bailey's plan to get az walking again, which is linked back to callie's feelings abt az's response to the amputation and,, yeah. admittedly though, this scene is probably one of the most arizona centric scenes in the season. 4/8

comparing a scene with similar setting - the i got back up scene - is super interesting though, because we can see that the directors are filming az's scenes the way they are on purpose. bc that scene starts from callie's perspective and stays there for the rest of the scene. we start with the camera behind callie as she stands outside the door of the apt, and then cuts to a side/frontal angle so we can see her expression at the sound of az giggling behind the door 5/8

then she opens the door and we cut to a frontal angle so we instantly see callie's reaction to smth behind the camera and then turn around and show us what she's reacting to. compared to how they framed az opening the door in the 9x06 scene (they focus on the empty floor first and then pan up to az, emphasising the importance of the empty floor over az's reaction). and even when the camera is focused on az and sofia, it's callie's voice that we hear first and she asks if az 6/8

had a good day and then az reveals oh well i fell down and then we cut back to callie for her reaction. and then az responds w "i got back up". but the "i got back up" part? literally lasts less than a second before we cut back to callie again. and after that the cam cuts between focusing on callie and watching az and sofia from callie's pov (u can argue that the focus on callie is sofia's pov but i dont think that makes much sense? idk) but yeah. its like really weird too bc 7/8

in the same ep, they have the scene where az actually falls and its filmed so similarly to this scene in some ways and even though some of these techniques are used on az, it emphasizes alex's pov more than it does az and ugh idk. s9 irritates me in both the storyline and filming ig is the conclusion here. and uhh just realised how super long this got so like. feel free to not,, respond? like i get that this is like ridiculous and im sorry my dude 8/8

no no but you're so right. i've said it before (i think) and i'll say it again: the show disproportionately favours callie's pov over arizona's (it does this with other characters, like meredith's over derek's, but to a slightly less extreme i think) - part of this i think is bc callie was there first and arizona is written as a love interest exclusively. but the whole amputation storyline really showed this to an extreme

i also think that the amount of time spent in callie's pov is part of the reason that the cheating felt so extremely ooc/cheap emotional payoff. i've seen various places where people have said that cheating can be part of depression/ptsd/trauma (and i fully agree/believe that) and that could fit in arizona's storyline - except the audience never really saw her dealing with that. there was the stuff at the beginning of the season and then arizona seemed fine? and the challenge of arizona i think is that she's very internal and taking away teddy and mark (to an extent) sort of limited her external processes, which left the viewer thinking that arizona was doing okay. but the effect of not showing us arizona's pov is that it comes out of left field (which is you were writing not filming from callie's pov could work bc limited 3rd person) is that it just seems out of character and tawdry and you have to create miscarriages to explain her behaviour

the way they filmed/wrote 95% of calzona's scenes in s9 were focused on callie and her feelings. even scenes that on the surface seem to be about arizona are really centered on callie. like for instance the shoes before bailey's wedding. arizona is struggling with self-worth and beauty and this would be a perfect moment for arizona to have ownership in her journey - instead we get callie yelling at her about how "everything is about the leg", which i think does a disservice to arizona and also to callie's character, which has often been based around empathy (don't get me started on callie's empathy and how it relates to arizona lol) like you said, every one of arizona's moments/accomplishments is not really about her. and that was a problem with arizona's character from the start - it's never really about her - it's about other. for example: her telling callie about tim was about reassuring callie's feelings versus it being a moment to add depth to arizona's character

one more thing: i think the writers majorly screwed themselves with the amputation sl/how they approached it. in the same way that the plane crash dominated like 4 seasons on a wider scale, arizona's leg and amputation did on a smaller scale, but they set it up so poorly that it was almost unsalvageable. they wanted the pat on the back for having a disabled character, but they mismanaged the storyline so atrociously that by the time s10 rolled around they were sort of screwed and didn't know what to do with callie and arizona. it's also notable that by like what? s11 they just stop talking about arizona's leg entirely

so far my thoughts on jjk as of ep 8:

i love sukuna he's def my favorite cannot WAIT to learn more abt him

gojo is probably my second favorite Or kugisaki

sukuna and gojo's chemistry is also my fav i've seen so far

on that note despite the lack of female characters overall the narrative is rlly gender neutral in tone & each of the characters kind of occupy their own like. space within this context which i rlly, rlly, rlly, rlly like

yuji is cool but i think he's the weakest of the main cast so far bc his charm is inconsistent, tho steadily becoming more consistent

the voice acting and music and animation and directing and general Production Value is so fucking impressive, it's the first time since aot where if i don't pay attention to what's moving on screen i actually get confused or miss smth and i Love it

the subtle humor is great lol

as for writing, my sister watched it before me and told me the beginning was weak which i agree with, i love the premise but the show is rlly bogged down by it's weird purgatorian approach to shonen-y tropes which i'm sure is just shonen jump shoehorning naruto formula into the beginning of every series even if it doesn't belong to "ensure" fan interest (as if subversive or non-naruto shonen are uninteresting lmao) but that's starting to slowly fade

the biggest grievance i have is honestly how i think the narrative clearly wants to use the lack of personal connection between the reader and characters & the general flatness of the emotional stakes to its advantage, which could be rlly artful w the tone so far. but random moments where i think the viewer is supposed to be moved come up that just whizz past my head bc they feel so out of place or poorly set up

i love the world, but i do wish it capitalized more on the yokai vibes of the curses than the alien-monstery thing it has going. however that's just a matter of personal taste and my love of dark japanese fantasy

zhengting on the dancer

there has been... a lot of things surrounding zhengting being on this show (mainly on weibo) so here’s a post explaining everything that’s going on

1. the show has been evil editing zhengting since the beginning by doing things such cutting out all of his advice/critiques (making him seem inexperienced and almost useless), editing it to make it look like no one wants to be on his team, etc...

2. similarly they’ve also been forcing zhengting to follow a script and say things that he doesn’t want to. many of these things are rude and brash, things that zhengting would never say himself. for example in ep 3 when they had him say “小姐姐你跳的真的太美了” and made it seem like he was flirting with the girl (causing him to get a lot of hate).

however while all of those were passable, yesterday’s filming was the final straw. the eliminations are supposed to be decided by the audience through voting devices, however that was all a fake and who go eliminated was already predecided by the directors/staff on the show. 4/5 dancers who were eliminated were from zhengting’s group.

and also, while other groups were allowed to refilm parts (or even entire performances) zhengting’s group was not allowed that. (and while the voting machines are useless, it’s still worth noting that the audience was only given 5s to vote for zhengting’s group compared to the other group who ended up getting 10 minutes of voting time).

on top of that, yuehua go song zhaoyi (a qcyn2 trainee, part of yuehua daylight, and also the female lead in flip mv) into the show with her old dance group*. since both zhaoyi and zhengting are under yh ent and they were both in the mv together, the mc kept on cueing zhengting. despite zhengting refusing twice, they forced him to say “她是我扑倒在床上的女人” (she’s the girl i pushed onto the bed) and even stopped filming just to make him say the line.

all of this is why zhenzhutangs/pearl sugars are trying to get dongfang weishi (the channel on which the dancer is airing from) to apologize to him.

*i’d like to emphasize that none of this is zhaoyi’s fault and that she rlly can’t do anything about it !! all of this is (once again) because of yh

aah goodness, that’s a difficult question ;o;

(side note just before i begin; i’m not doing well rn, so my tone might sound weird? but i wanna answer this because talking about SE makes me happy and i need any happiness i can get rn)

honestly i love the test episode (ep14) sdkjfhf, it’s hilarious and it’s pretty stand alone? so it’s a good one to watch if you just wanna watch one ep. (tho...stop after maka gets her test results. i rlly RLLY HATE the joke the ep ends with it’s super not funny)

the masamune two-parter (eps10-11) is really good too! i think that’s a pretty common pair of eps to cite as favs but it’s for good reason; it’s really well-done, there’s some fantastic action and great emotion ;o;

for a consecutive arc my fav is probably the kishin revivial arc (so like...eps 18-24ish?) because that’s where i can remember watching for the first time and like legit not being able to stop, i remember waking up extra early before school just so i could keep watching T///T

but i also have a lot of fav moments ;o; like the first bit of ep31 when crona is getting closer with everyone (ep26 is a fav for that reason too tbh) and the very ending of ep35 ok just let me be i’ve watched that bit so often i can quote it verbatim in both english and japanese plz just let me have this;;;;;;; (it’s.....pinstripes in case u do not know sjkdhgdf;;;; )

honestly you should just watch the whole show tho sdkfjgldfj//////

so generally, in my spn-specific au, it’s more of chrysi going on a hunt and jacks is in the same town, seeing her at a café (bc chrysi frequents cafés more often than bars… she does NOT like alcohol) like “………………hi. again.” and chrysi’s like “why the FUCK is it always YOU”

they have a weird relationship where jacks is always dragged into helping her on hunts, until one day he wakes up and realizes that he’s literally been on a road trip with chrysi for over a month. he didn’t stop to consider leaving to do his own thing. now he’s permanently along for the ride. alTHOUGH, he sure wants to leave sometimes, with the way chrysi will always use him as bait

((of course, i like imagining chrysi and azure going on hunts together as a couple, until azure realizes his bad luck is beginning to affect chrysi and he doesn’t want to cause her doom, so. off he fucks to go figure out a way to stop his bad luck, but he doesn’t fucking tell her. he gets back and chrysi and jacks are dating and he’s like “are you SERIOUS” ….tho, to be fair, he IS also going through other shit to warrant not telling chrysi any information. still. it hurts her.))

worst one they faced…. oohhh, that’s definitely gotta be sephera? like, how do you fight the being that’s inside your girlfriend’s blood? and you know it’s bad when previous villains are trying to help you stop sephera awakening (literally am in love with eris cursing the ever loving shit out of jacks, then turning around and being like “soooo, you like chrysi? interesting! she’s going to die if you don’t accept my help :>” great….. also, can i jst say that i adore when villains end up teaming up with the heroes bc of aligning interests? OUGH.)

generally, curses are annoying for both chrysi and jacks to deal with as well, but i think the hardest one for them to deal with then was jacks being hit with a love curse and being all over chrysi. she’s like “so normally he’s obsessed w me, but this is… a lot more annoying than usual.” also an eris curse. eris is defs the recurring villain :3 listen, it’s jst convenient for her to try and get her hands on chrysi since chrysi can bring desdemona back. (chrysi and jacks thought that desdemona would b the big bad villain, but NO. ANCIENT BEING IN THE BLOOD INSTEAD. WHOOPS.)

((also, side note: i have no clue how clear i’m being rn sldkjflskdjfsdlkjf. i jst get rlly excited talking abt this sort of thing bc i have sooooo many fic ideas i could be working on w this monster of the week format. i should rewatch some eps of supernatural, bc tbh… that show is rlly rlly fun))

chrysi has to save jacks every week. he has no clue why he’s always the damsel in distress, since he normally creates damsels in distress. chrysi says it’s because the monsters must seem to think it’s hilarious—but i would love it if there were, like, a mid-season finale that reveals that being chrysi’s partner genuinely has a sort of curse where you constantly become the damsel in distress as a result. actually… there is a canonical reason, and it has to do w sephera 🤐 bc sephera is trying to take over chrysi, but the faetelle gets triggered badly whenever chrysi’s cursed, which then puts sephera deeper to sleep—so she essentially transfers all curses over to whoever is closest (emotionally) to chrysi (within a certain range of influence, of course). this doesn’t always work, which is why chrysi is sometimes in danger, but YES, HER MEN ALL ARE DAMSELS IN DISTRESS FOR ACTUAL PLOT REASONS.

anyway, a specific time that chrysi saved jacks that makes me go fucking FERAL is when he was cursed into an unnatural sleep and kidnapped by someone. so not only did she have to chase him down, but she also had to kiss him to bring him back…. true love’s kiss and everything. this is before they realized they loved each other, so chrysi’s going through the five stages of grief when jacks wakes up (like, yes, some part of her is happy he loves her back, but a larger part of herself is horrified that she loves him in the first place). then she has to drag a still-delirious jacks out of a monster’s den—bc jacks takes foreverrrrrrr to wake up. and he still passes out as soon as they’re out of danger. chrysi’s like “are you serious???? you were just sleeping from a curse—aren’t you ready to be awake now?????????????” no. he is not. let him get his beauty sleep, chrysi. he has to compete with azure—this is the only way he can get an edge on him.

i’m also fond of jacks being trapped in a card again, but that’s jst a general thing i like :) that one’s eris’s fault. she thought he’d be a nice addition to her art collection, and she’d be objectively right. unfortunately, she has to deal w chrysi’s outrage at the same time, so. perhaps not a great decision in that situation.

OKAY, JACKS HAS TO SAVE CHRYSI FROM HERSELF. like, she’s not… possessed, per se, but she’s defs not normal??? like, she’s cursed and she no longer has any emotions (like s6 sam, i believe??? i might b getting my seasons wrong, since i stopped watching after 7), so jacks is desperately trying to get her to love him again. OKAY, so, actually—it’s not that she doesn’t have emotions, but they’re severely dulled, save for frivolity and cruelty. she doesn’t exactly remember jacks (nor azure, who is also there, bc once he found out jacks was chrysi’s new partner, he made jacks swear that he’d keep chrysi safe—complete w a magic oath—and, uhh, azure could tell the moment the oath was broken + he showed up to fix things. it did not work.), so there’s fun emotional scenes of him begging at her feet to remember him (and kiss him 👁👁 after all, true love’s kiss can break the spell), but chrysi’s too preoccupied thinking about how lovely he’d look broken and bleeding on the floor <33 clearly, elias bloom cursed her to be like this—bc he wanted to have her be his. it didn’t exactly work, as jacks and azure later find him chained up in his room and bleeding. they both decide to leave him there to sweat it out. it’s very funny.

((although it’s not very funny when the curse is broken and chrysi sees azure and gets emotional. jacks doesn’t like the reminder that they’re soulmates, despite the fact that azure chose to leave chrysi))

also saving chrysi from being possessed by sephera, but that’s some fucking WORK. it stresses jacks out so much. he’s so scared chrysi’s been burned right out of her own body and he’s looking for any scrap of her in those pale gold eyes. he doesn’t think he can see her—but she can see him, and she’s too weak to try and claw her way out :(((

GOD, as for hijinks… chrysi’s likely to drive away from the motel before jacks wakes up, so he has to despondently call simeon to drive over and pick him up ( “of course. where are you?” “wyoming.” “WHY ARE YOU IN WYOMING, THAT’S A DAY AND A HALF DRIVE” ). then his gf comes back w a new bag of apples like “???? you thought i’d actually left you??” “YOU DIDN’T LEAVE A NOTE” “it’s literally on your nightstand?” “oh.”

to be fair, chrysi did leave him behind a lot when they first started out together. in her defense, though, i think she forgot she was traveling with another person. sometimes. sorta. jacks is traumatized.

also, whenever they have to go into a high-end establishment, jacks is like “yes. it’s my time.” and puts chrysi in the prettiest dress known to mankind….. except she can’t fucking fight in it, idiot. he’s like “that’s alright, i can fight 🥰” “i MEANT monsters” “oh.” my dude’s thinking about other matters entirely.

i want to include a little karaoke scene as well, primarily bc i think it would b funny if chrysi and jacks agreed to sing only if they got to choose what the other would sing. jacks chooses “touch-a, touch-a, touch me” from rocky horror picture show (when chrysi sees the lyrics, she turns to him with murder in her eyes) and chrysi chooses “barbie girl” by aqua. he is displeased.

i can’t think of anything else, but i guarantee you, i’ll be thinking of the typical fun magical episodes that are mostly there as a breath of fresh air (like azure being on a hunt w them and it’s real awkward… and it gets even more awkward when azure and jacks are hit w a spell that swaps their bodies) BUT I’M THINKING ABT THIS VERY INTENSELY RN. VERY, VERY INTENSELY.

(if you’re ever interested in another “monster of the week” sort of au, but more based in a sleepy beach town in the north where jacks and chrysi have a relationship that culminates in him being stuck in a card, then getting out and pretending he no longer can love + he doesn’t remember chrysi… hmu. it’s based on the show “haven” and that show also did permanent damage to me in my middle school years)

i rlly tried,,,,,,i rlly did. i went in there ready to take note of,,every,,,,,gay,,,,,,,,,thing that could possibly happen between arthur and merlin and i was defeated!!!!! there is TOO MUCH. i was writing down constantly. i had to pause the episode 6239562387 times just to do it so *clenches fist*,,,,,,,i gave up,,,,

i am on s2 ep 10. i’m head over heels for this show. it feels like a cross between harry potter and every fantasy novel i ever loved as a child. it’s so fun to watch. also look at this terrible dialogue between these 2 that i had to suffer through:

s1, ep 9: “merlin you know that conversation we had about knocking” what conversation,,,,,,,,,i never saw this conversation!!!!!! how many times has arthuR been interrupted in his bedroom,,,,,,,,,by merlin??????? oh god,,,,,,what has merlin s e e n?????///

“you have to pull out”,,,,,,,,who really needs context,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,doesn’t help that merlin begs arthur 2 do it again later

“you show him extraordinary loyalty….beyond the line of duty”,,,,,,,,not 2 jump 2 conclusions but i believe that after arthur’s father said this, he probably had a spy sent 2 his son’s chambers after hours just 2 make sure,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,certain things,,,,,,,,,,,,were not,,,,,,,,being erected,,,,,,,

“you could say there is a bond between us” i am beginning to see that and frankly i am concerned. they have known each other for 2 seconds and merlin has offered to sacrifice his life for arthur at least 30,000 times already. it is stressing me out.

this terrible break-up conversation arthur and he had when merlin had 2 skip on over to his village 2 fight wheat bandits:

s1, ep 10: “it’s been an honour serving you” (rmb how in the first 0.24278 seconds of this show, merlin was horrified that he was the vassal of an idiot,,,,,,,oh, how times change,,,,,,,,,now i am wiser and kno that merlin is an idiot too)

“you’re coming back?” (,,,,,oh, sweetheart,,,arthur,,,,,honey,,,)

*sad romantic music plays*

“thank you, sire” (rip arthur, merlin’s ready 2 find a new boyfriend and lo and behold, in this episode, that’s literally the next thing he does?? unsurprisingly, arthur does not like merlin’s boyfriend who happens to be merlin’s ex)

the tragic events that follow this godawful conversation, mainly 32 min. of arthur pining like a lovesick puppy whilst merlin firmly denies 2 his mother that there’s anything more than PG happening between them even tho his mother thinks he’s gone into Parental Guidance territory:

arthur follows merlin to his village. as a prince of camelot, this will be considered an act of war,,,,,,,,,what a fooL

they talk long into the night and eventually fall asleep side by side,,,,,,,,,meanwhile i am tense and incredibly nervous as i fear i will have 2 witness the making of a lemon

merlin dresses arthur in the morning and i guess they cut out the lemon to appease sensitive viewers like me

“he must care for you a great deal” says merlin’s mother and merlin protests, “i’m just his servant” (no offence, but do servants sleep side by side with their masters under the romantic light of stars and a dying fire,,,,,,,i think not,,,,,,,,,)

“he’s here for you…he likes you” my lord,,,,,his mother’s determined to get them married,,,,,,,,,,,meanwhile i’m shopping for my dress as i hope 2 be invited 2 the reception party

“why do u think he came here?” asks gwen about arthur traipsing on over to merlin’s village even tho,,,,,,,,i repeat,,,,,,it is considered an act of war!!!

the answer is ofc “merlin” and i’m confused as to why they don’t just say that he came here to save his soulmate

merlin’s mother for the 465476th time to merlin: “you belong at arthur’s side. i’ve seen how much he needs you. how much you need him”,,,,,,,i can’t believe god gave me ears just 2 hear this nonsense

there are more things that i have noted in my research but i must cut it here for i am sobbing. this has been quite an ordeal, u see,,,,,,will come back tmr if i am still alive,,,
