Louis quickly finds himself falling in love with the orchard, and he finds a family in Harry's friends Niall, Liam, and Zayn.
He also starts to fall in love with Harry.
Falling in love with him turns out to be the easy part.
11) We've Got The World in Our Hands | Explicit | 54964 words
A mutants/superpowers AU. Louis and his friends attend the Cowell Institute for General Education and Mutant Training in London; when Louis meets Harry, the newest student at the Cowell Institute, he immediately recruits Harry to help play matchmaker for his friend Zayn. Harry and Louis are so caught up in meddling in Zayn's love life, though, that they don't notice that their own friendship is progressing into something more. Meanwhile, an ominous threat up north grows slowly until suddenly, no mutant - or human - is safe.
12) But We Have Promises To Keep | Mature | 62608 words
Note: This fic is the fourth fic in a series. The other fics do not have smut.
Maybe, Louis thought, from the beginning to the end, he had always known exactly what he wanted. He had always heard it, a quiet song in his head never giving up, because it had never been a thing apart from who he was. Someone who wouldn’t stop. Someone who could walk out into the dark, seeing nothing, having little, and still looking.
The undeniable, terrifying, gorgeous truth was always going to be this: that he had a heart, and that that heart wanted to live.
13) We'll Cast Some Light (You'll Be Alright) | Not Rated | 74409 words
There’s a standard procedure for this. Scan, track, kill. But with a solar eclipse and a Greater Demon with unfinished business looming, the path to keeping England safe from harm becomes complicated and shadowed by mystery and secrets. For Harry and his team, times have never been harder, especially when a few old friends turned foes show up. Harry is left with just over forty days to overcome the hurdle of tension between them and reconcile their past, and figure out just what Louis is hiding from him before it’s too late.
14) Waiting On You | Explicit | 76584 words
“Vampires,” Louis says with disgust, glaring over at the vampire who is noisily slurping from the woman’s neck nearby.
Zayn gives the neat fang marks on Louis’ neck a meaningful look.
“Can’t live with them, can’t live without them,” Louis finishes, ignoring Zayn when he rolls his eyes.
Louis takes a long sip of his milkshake, presses his fingers against the marks on his neck, and definitely doesn’t think about the vampire who left them there.
15) Pinkies Never Lie | Explicit | 83615 words
AU in which Louis hates his job and loves Harry, Harry just wants a distraction, everyone else wants them to get their shit together, and Louis learns the hard way that new beginnings are only possible when something ends.
16) Where You Lay | Explicit | 86038 words
When Louis's upcoming heat threatens his success at his new dream job, he asks the best (and only) person he can think of to help him through it: his best mates' best mate, Harry Styles.  Harry reluctantly accepts, and together the two navigate a strange friends with benefits relationship that quickly turns complicated.
17) Swim In The Smoke | Explicit | 101778 words
“What about this, Captain?” Liam asks, nudging the boy kneeling between their feet with the toe of his boot. The boy hisses and swipes at him, slurring out something unintelligible around the makeshift gag Niall had to stuff in his mouth. He misses by a mile and tries again, just as ineffectively.
Harry looks down at him, at the way the sun streams over his face and shoulders, at the way the gag stretches his mouth, lips pink and chapped. He’s lithe and pretty, smudged all over with dirt. They had found him tied up below deck, mostly unconscious, next to a barrel full of gold. He’s clearly a prisoner, but there’s something familiar about him, something that niggles at Harry’s brain. Something he can’t quite put his finger on.
“Put him in my cabin,” Harry decides, turning back to deal with the rest of the loot. The boys screams out jumbled curse words at Harry’s back, muffled by the gag, and Harry can’t understand any of it.
18) Saving Symphony Hall | Explicit | 124766 words
Note: This fic is a sequel to this fic. It is locked and can only be read by AO3 users.
“I think I have an idea,” Louis said. Slowly, and reluctantly, but with a growing sense of the inevitable. “God damnit, I think I have a really good idea.”
“Oh christ, that's the problem-solving face,” Babs said. “Last time we saw that face, he sold a company.”
“Wait, what?” Zayn asked.
“Right place, right time,” Louis said. “Also, fuck my life,”
“What?” Zayn repeated. Niall patted his hand.
“I usually just roll with whatever Louis is about to do,” he said. “It’s better for us all.”
“That’s the attitude,” said Louis, “I’ll tell you tomorrow. Tonight, I need to do some research. Zayn, give me your number. I’m gonna save our symphony.”
19) Collision | Not Rated | 226294 words
Mythology/Fairytale!AU in which Louis is a dainty fairy with a temper who wants to be intimidating and Harry hurts people. Naturally, they hate each other.
(Featuring Liam, the big and not-so-bad wolf who’s got a thing for humans, Zayn, a human with supernaturally good looks, and Niall, the cupid who just wants his job to be easier.)
Check out our other fic rec lists by category here and by title here.

hey really love your work and your stories they’re amazing! I was wondering if yo could do another fat Tae story (not sure what your limit on weight / obesity is sorry) but i really loved the one you wrote of JM and Tae when they were cuddling and it then moved to smut. Thanks :)
HELLO !! I'M SO SORRY I TOOK SO LONG WITH THIS (óㅈò)7 smut is still resisting me but i hope the wait was worth it and that you enjoy this horny juice (òㅈó)ง 🖤
[smut]
jm has the best boyfriend in the world.
not only he's kind, lovely and attentive, but has the hottest body jm has ever seen. no matter the time they spend together, there is not a day where jm doesn't find a new roll or stretch mark on his growing frame.
they've been together for a year, friends for five more, and th has always been the type of boyfriend that loves surprising his partner.
and today, th made a discovery.
jm doesn't really know what's about but he knows th is really excited to show him by the way he calls for him to join him in the kitchen.
he's facing the counter, licking his long fingers clean and gracing jm with the side view of his bulging belly oozing under the fabric of his tshirt.
jm gets closer. he should ask, and he really tries when th captures his lips in a hungry kiss.
"i thought you were making cookies," he gets to say when th makes his way down to kiss jm's neck.
th huffs and smiles against the sensitive skin and jm shivers. "i got distracted while kneading the dough."
jm hums, reaching for th's love handles to squeeze them and gives them a shake. he's been wearing crop tops that show how sinful his curves are. soft stretched skin for jm to play.  "i don't see any dough other than these."
th grinds forward, his the few fabric that barely covers his gut riding up till his full belly covers the expanse of jm's torso completely. "who said i meant that dough?" he finishes with a satisfied hiccup.
jm moans, loving the feeling of being crushed by his boyfriend weight.
ever since th discovered about jm's special kink, he's been gracing the older with deteriorating habits. seconds that turn to thirds, 2l sodas that never seem to run out during meals and a chair near the fridge for a "quick and casual" snacking.
he has been gaining weight for some time now and he's been faced with the hardship of having a larger and plumper body. but expend his free days full, horny and loved? it's worth all the kilos he proudly exhibits in his few outgrown clothes.
they pull away and th smirks at the lust in jm's eyes before he whispers to his ear, "turn around, baby. i have something to show you."
jm pouts, whimpering at the mere thought of being fucked full. "i won't be able to see then."
"it's more of a feeling thing," he promises, licking and sucking his ear lobe into his mouth. "please."
jm does as he's told. th's hand slides down his back, arching at the touch and presenting his ass for th to grind again.
it's been a while since th fucked him. always too stuffed to move or too sleepy to even think of anything other than laying down and soundly digest while jm uses his body for his own pleasure.
he drags his ass against th, seeking his crotch but meeting his giggly underbelly instead, all doughty and glorious. "so impatient," th sing-songs. he takes his pajama bottom and underwear and does the same for jm. "you know, i made a discovery today."
"y-yeah?" jm stutters when he feels the tip of th's dick. but it stays there and jm looks back not knowing what's going on.
th thumbs at his chin, licking his lips and gesturing to him to look forward. "i went to grab a bowl from the cabinets and something… was on the way."
"aw, my poor piggy," jm coos, his cook twiching just thinking of it.
"yeah.. but you wanna know how i fixed it?" th thrust in completely, pushing the air out of jm's lungs, then plops his belly on top of jm's back. "aah~ so relieving.."
the older whimpers and moans as he feels the weight of all the cookie dough th ate while he wasn't looking. wiggling back and forth with every thrust and jm doesn't know if he will even last.
jm knows th is fat, yet the thought of all his lard being, not just in the way of penetrating them, but also making hims struggle in his daily tasks has drooling onto the flour covered counter. "f-fuck, sh-shit.."
th pants, reaching for his hand to hold. "you okay down there? color?"
"i wanna try something." jm tries to lean into the counter to stand, bottoming out and leaving th with a pout that will not last long as he sits on the counter. "fuck me like this."
he blinks, expectantly aligning himself once again when jm holds his belly up for him. jm let's go of his belly, the underbelly slapping obscenely against his unattended dick and they both moan. "ugh~ fucking neon green, tæ."
jm jumps on his cook and fucks his underbelly at the same time. some burps come out from th's hanging mouth as he struggles to breathe. "look what you did to me, uh~ . i'm just a pig pet for you to feed and fuck all day."
th groans, snapping his hips and jm clenches around him when he hits his prostate. "are you p-proud of me, m¡n-ah~?"
jm takes his belly, shaking it and patting it to force a burp out of th. "so proud. make me cum and i'll -ughn reward this empty belly."
it actually is kinda bloated, but th always loved the sensation of stretching his fullness to discomfort if that meant jm's hands on him. so he speeds up, leaning closer to jm and trapping his dick completely under his gut. it doesn't take long for jm to cum and th is fast to follow.
his legs are trembling for the force of it and their cum is dripping onto the hard floor. after a short break th goes for something to clean while jm orders the usual to th's favourite burger.

Ok so I learned something amazing (and hilarious) today. We all know Bandit, the super wonderful Dad to Bluey and Bingo on Bluey right? Right!
Tumblr media
Well did you guys know that his voice actor, David McCormack, WAS ALSO THE LEAD SINGER AND GUITARIST IN A 90s PUNK BAND CALLED CUSTARD???? BECAUSE HE WAS! It's also the most 1990s thing ever, you're welcome.
youtube
(I'm sure this is probably pretty common knowledge over in Australia since his band had singles that made it into the top 100 at the time/etc, but I know being here in the USA I sure as hell didn't know about it, and I NEEDED to share this discovery ASAP lmao.)
His band also released a reunion album in 2015!
youtube
youtube
So yeah if you didn't know before, you do now! These songs have such a chill-punk vibe to them and I love it! Even though all I can hear is Bandit OOP

I know I've told this story to friends, in person, but I don't think I've ever shared it online before.
This a uniquely 80s kid Halloween related tale.
If you're not of a certain age, it may be difficult for you to believe this, but there was actually a time when not all media was available 24/7. No streaming, no internet, Hell, not everyone had a VHS player (old timey Blu-ray, for you youngins). It was a time of great darkness...from a home entertainment standpoint.
I was probably ten, maybe eleven, and out shopping with a family member at the Kroger in my hometown. This would have been 1984, or maybe 1985?
Usually, I would have been preoccupied in the toy section, or bothering the nice ladies in the flower department, but not that time. That trip I had eyes only for the VCR rental kiosk.
Yep, your peepers didn't deceive you. That's right. I said there was a small kiosk inside the store then were you could rent a portable VHS player. Imagine renting a Blu-ray player these days. Bizarre, right?
Anyway, at the top of said kiosk, there was small TV screen...and it was playing Michael Jackson's Thriller!
It was the first time I had ever seen the video, maybe the first time I had heard the song, I can't recall. All I remember for certain is that at that exact moment and time I was glued to that spot, mouth agape, hooked, amazed, mystified, a little scared, and absolutely head over heels in love with everything about it.
Even though I don't remember now which adult it was, I distinctly recall one of my handlers dragging me away, physically dragging me, because I refused to leave that sweetly Hellish (okay, Heckish) video until I had committed every second of it to memory.
Thus began a lifelong love affair with both song and video. As an adult I have watched it and listened to it at least once every single Halloween my entire life, I've raised my kids on it, watching it, listening to it. It's a tradition now. It's not Halloween without Thriller.
I sometimes wonder if the kids of today, and tomorrow, will have these same great discovery memories, given their unfettered access to the whole of Human creativity at any and all times. I hope so.
Anyway. That's my stupid little story. If you made it this far, Happy Halloween...and go watch Thriller!

Today, 3 years ago, Youtube recommended me "Creep" by Radiohead covered by some guys under the name "Hoppipolla" and my whole body was starting to feel hella anxious and curious because the thumbnails showed a cello.. Thank god I clicked on that video, when they start playing I could feel the meaning of the song more painful and deeper than the original, making me cry without being aware of when the tears started to fall... Hoppipolla made the meaning come to you in a soft and melancholic way, almost like stabbing swords so slowly into your heart. I was amazed, I couldn't believe what i had just seen, so I ran to investigate who they were and their music and I discovered their first album: "Spring to Spring", released on April, 22th of 2020.. It was something I didn't know I needed to hear at that moment, the whole six songs were wonderful to listen to, the harmonies of their voices and also the piano, cello and the two guitars harmonies complementing each other was from another world. Actually I lost track of time while listened to them back then, I had their entire discography on loop because I was astonished of my "new discovery".
Day6 helped me to get into k-rock in 2019, and months later in 2020 Hoppipolla helped me to get into another sub-genres of rock and also to get interested in underground k-bands and TV programmes like Superband.
Since then (July, 24th of 2020) my life changed 180°. I started to enjoy and appreciate things with another eyes and point of view, living was starting to feel great and lovely with their music by my side. They have been making me company this entire 3 years with their two albums and also with the solo projects of the four of them.
For real, I don't know what would have been of myself if I hadn't had the curiosity to watch that cover.
Hoppipolla, thank you so much for creating and realising music, I truly appreciate how dedicated you all are with the things you do, everything seems to be perfectly fitted, every detail of every song is amazing and addictive to listen to. I'm glad my curious soul felt like investigating your story. Thank you again for all the time you had been with me and I hope we could spend more time together.
Lots of love to you♡

SUPER SUNDAY!
Hope all of you had a Sunday that was even just a tiny percentage as good as ours - we had an awesome day! We were blessed with another slow morning because church doesn't start till 11am. I was able to get out on some trails behind the Olson's house and do some exploring. Being out in God's creation is so awesome!
Tumblr media
Church was even more awesome. In the early years when we came here, church was more of a Bible study with a small group of people. Today, the physical and spiritual growth is incredible! There is an energy and a sweet fellowship that is contagious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we started singing worship songs this morning, I became overwhelmed to the point of tears. They were singing the song "Build Your Kingdom Here". I immediately began thinking back to some of the first years here, and how this town had been dominated for so long by the FLDS. And now, here we are, in a Christian church, worshiping the one true God, with lyrics like this:
"Build Your kingdom here
Let the darkness fear
Show Your mighty hand
Heal our streets and land
Set Your church on fire
Win this nation back
Change the atmosphere
Build Your kingdom here
We pray"
Stop and think about that. In this place, with such a terrible history of abuse, there is a group of believers gathering in Jesus name every week singing and praying for God's mighty work! That is a miracle!!
Tumblr media
After church, the emotions continued as Brody gave us a tour of the new building that is in progress on the property. It was amazing and absolutely huge!
I was able to observe this as Brody was sharing about the building - local kids running around in the building with excitement on their faces at this new building being built. It made me think of our church vision at Pine Valley Community Church -
"Raising up new generations of both physical and spiritual descendants who are strong, bold, and fruitful in the love and mission of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Tumblr media
These young people here in Colorado City are a part of a very special generation. And they are being raised up in this church and will one day carry on it's vision in the future. God has certainly done things here we never could have imagined when we first came 10 years ago. He has continually guided and direct as only He can do!
Speaking of God doing amazing things, we also got a tour of The Dream Center. This is a Christian ministry that helps individuals with all sorts of issues with locations all over the world. This location specializes in helping locals deal with some of the ramifications of growing up experiencing some of the horrible abuses that have happened in this place. The center even operates in Warren Jeff's old house!
If you are able to access Discovery Plus, you can watch a show titled "Prisoner of the Prophet". It features Briell Decker, the former 65th wife of Warren Jeffs. Briell had a huge part in making The Dream Center a reality. As we were wrapping up our tour, Briell even showed up and talked with us for a bit!
We also toured the town a little as a team and visited some of the key former FLDS buildings that are now either vacant or being used for other purposes. The change we've witnessed here is absolutely miraculous!
Then, as if the day wasn't good enough - we enjoyed a team dinner of baked potatoes and Mac and cheese!
After dinner, we met with Brody for a bit about how things will go on the 4th. Then I was able to finish my day the same way it started - back on the trails! A group of us went back to the same area and got to enjoy God's creation together as the sun was about to go down. So beautiful!

"Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you." Jeremiah 32:17

The Southwards and Mikala have arrived, our team is complete! Tomorrow is really the start of our busy days, keep checking in and praying!

I loved every moment you mentioned too! The greatest is so good, it was one of my immediate favourites on the album on first listen so hearing it as the opener was awesome. SIBWAWC delivered as expected!!! So good. It was just such a strong setlist! I agree about the 1D songs, I never really listened to 1D (other than how everyone my age did, in the sense that the music was everywhere so you picked stuff up) so I wasnt that familiar with WDBHG but Louis made it fun! I'd be fine with only one 1D cover (especially if it gave us headline, common people or TTWLG which im keeping my fingers crossed will get rotated in)
The production was really good, I'm a fairly new fan so haven't seen too much of Louis' last tour (mostly just clips) so it was really cool to see all the screens and lights. You can tell a lot of thought goes into making it feel cohesive.
I was soooo pleased to hear Copy, it's just SUCH a good song and he looked confident singing it.
Also back to you!!! I really didn't expect that, it was such a good version. And "Miss you" was one of the first Louis songs I discovered and really loved (very late discovery as this was like...last year? Haha) and I've always thought it would be SUCH a great song to experience live so that gives me a bit of hope that maybe we'll get a version of it at some point on this tour. (Whishful thinking maybe!)
Also got to mention going from saved by a stranger (Also so good) to WAOYF...the emotional whiplash!!!! It worked though!
Honestly, I could probably run through every song with something I liked (I've barely mentioned HOTH and Saturdays and silver Tongues!) but I've already ranted in your inbox enough but what a great first show!!!! So excited for the next one!!!
I'm glad to see the greatest appreciation, it was one of my favs at first listen too. Louis writes the best tour openers. He really did transport us to another world with sibwawc didn't he 😌 his mind is just superior. The production was mind blowing and a true step up from last tour (ltwt's production was still amazing though). Copy is a masterpiece no doubt about that the imagerie of the lyrics is insane. BTY in 2023? If someone told me that before the show i would never believe them but it made me so happy for many reasons. There is hope for miss you after all 😭 ( i think at some point he's going to replace bty with miss you and if it happens idk how i'll survive). There was so many surprises last night but honestly the biggest one for me was him singing saved by a stranger ❤️‍🩹(the bravery, the grace!!). Not only that he also made it kind of rock and followed it with waoyf (that fan in the live stream who was silent the whole time but felt the need to shout "can we pls go back to fucking" instead of " loving" didn't go unnoticed🔪🔪). Tbh, i always thought if he really had to perform a 1d song, night changes would be a good one (his solo is so angelic in it) and i enjoyed it when he performed it in the past. But this time, even i was surprised that the 1d covers didn't work for me. I think fitf is just a beast on a whole other level and performing 1d songs among such a brillant setlist emphasizes the quality differece between Louis' solo songs and the band's, sorry. Night changes followed by Chicago and wdbhg put between ooms and saturdays (and then silver tongues) was almost humilating for them if it weren't for Louis' perfect delivery and witt (and angelic voice). I can talk about the show forever and in detail about each and every song but i didn't want to make this any longer. Feel free to rant about Louis' music and performances in my inbox i love those kind of rants 🥰. The second show is today and i couldn't be more excited 💙

eleven and seventeen?
11. favorite mcr album art?
revenge no question. i cant quite explain why but something about it has always spoken to me, i saw it at age 12 and was forever changed i think. this doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that it’s my favorite album, in fact i think part of why it’s my favorite album is because of the art. first of all, it reminds me a lot of vampires. i’ve always been drawn to vampires, an obsession that i think grew with my discovery of this album, even if it’s not actually about vampires, because aesthetically there are definitely a lot of nods to the vampire aesthetic which i really love. i feel like a lot of my aesthetic choices have been based off of that album cover, it just feels very me. i love thé black and red color scheme, again probably because of how i associate it with vampires and there’s something so gender about it. i definitely prefer some of gerard’s art to others but i think the style looks really cool here. someone pointed out how the girl looks kinda like gerard and i haven’t gotten that out of my head since. there’s also something in their expressions that’s so tragic even if theres not a lot of detail to them. i like the blood on its own, but i also like how it’s this watercolor style, i think that’s really cool. and then the way blood is spattered all over the rest of it. i’m not really putting it into words right because it’s more of a feeling of connection ive always had with the album and it’s art rather than specific qualities i can pinpoint, but i think love and art aren’t really things that need to be quantified and dissected like that.
17. favorite mcr lyric of all time?
ooh this is so hard. honestly i’m kind of bad with lyrics bc i process music as just Sounds rather than words, but mcr are such great lyricists that there are definitely some that stick out for me. at the moment i’m thinking about “and did you come to stare or wash away the blood?” from desert song, since i’ve been listening to it on repeat for unknown reasons, tho im not sure that’s my all time favorite. i have a ton written down in a notes app note for lyrics i like just bc i enjoy the way they sound, though i don’t really have any personal reason for them being my favorites. one that i’ve always thought about though is “i’m not dead i only dress that way” from boy division, because my chemical romance has always inspired the way i dress including looking weird and kind of dead and just overall very strange looking, it’s very gender to me. i started listening to mcr when i used amazon music in middle school and conventional weapons wasn’t on there but as soon as i’d heard of that lyric i went to youtube to listen to it and it’s been a favorite ever since, and it was amazing to hear live.
thinking about hearing it live also made me think of hearing burn bright live and being able to scream out “cause it makes me who i am / and you made me who i am / be afraid of what i am,” because even if i didnt listen to conventional weapons a lot when i first became a fan, those lyrics really exemplify my feelings about the band and how they’ve shaped the person i am today, they’re the only band from my middle school emo phase that ever really stuck with me and i’ve listened to them for a third of my life. for me, these lyrics are a combination of reverence/homage for how the band helped me get through middle school when i struggled a lot with mental health for the first time and began to truly think about my identity for the first time, as well as how they’ve been with me well on after that time and have been there through every major change in my life and can always make me really happy just thinking about them. it’s more than a middle-school nostalgia for me bc my love for the band is just a part of me now. i also like how these lyrics tie in with the “not ashamed of what i am” and the general queer undertones of the song, because i associate my chemical romance a lot with my own queerness, having discovered them when i began to realize i was gay and taking a lot of inspiration from them for my gender presentation. and also i’m someone who feels a lot of shame and general self-doubt even outside of my queerness that i like these lyrics’ message of just like, being who you are, as corny as that sounds. i think that’s kinda the core message of mcr as well :)

So I just turned 38 and it was two years ago that I learned I am probably autistic and that - ok get ready, this is the really important part - I always have been.
There has been a lot about the self-discovery process that escapes description entirely. But my favorite part of it all is how vitally important a context autism is, actually. I keep tripping over things in my life that suddenly make a lot of sense. Here is today's, as a case in point:
I have always had a particular attraction to cover songs. I adore a well-made cover song, especially one that crosses a song over into a different genre. Punk covers are my favorite - shout out to Me First and the Gimme Gimmes for being the best in the biz at this, and an honorable mention to the Punk Rock Factory for encroaching on that territory - with bluegrass covers of punk, pop, and rock songs being a close second. See I love music, but I am the sort of person who listens to the same things over and over and only adds new things rather by accident, usually after I heard them somewhere and gotten it lodged in a loop in my short-term memory. (My best Spotify playlist is called "Stuck In My Head" and it's dedicated only to songs I can't stop humming once I've heard them; it's 4 hours long now.)(hmu if you want it, I'll share!) I also do this with TV and movies, for the record, reruns are my entire vibe; I only willingly watch new TV if it's Star Trek because I know that universe like I know my own house and feel just as comfortable in both.
It's only today that I've made the connection between these two aspects of myself, and realized: Oh, duh, I only like familiar things, and so even new things have to actually be based in familiar things for me to enjoy them. Of course I like cover songs and new Star Trek shows so much! They're new, familiar things!
And, you guys, all of this makes so much sense when I remember: I'm an autistic person and of course I like familiar things and familiar things only, it's all of this autism.
Sometimes I really understand why I was the only person in my life who was surprised to learn I'm autistic. Really, it's sort of amazing it took as long as it did for me to notice.

Kolyskova - Valya Levchenko
@vale.levchenko
All proceeds from music platforms will go to @helpinmukachevo foundation - shelter for Ukrainian orphans from the war zone
Spotify link
What We Could Have Been - Sting, Ray Chen
My most devastating song…and my current answer to the searching question of pt 1
…justice, hope, love…really?
Spotify link
I am the monster you created
You ripped out all my parts
And worst of all, for me to live, I gotta kill the part of me that saw
And I needed you more
I hope you know we had everything
When you broke me and left these pieces
I want you to hurt like you hurt me today and
I want you to lose like I lose when I play
What could have been
Why don’t you love who I am?
What we could have been
I am your ghost, a fallen angel
You ripped out all my parts
I couldn’t care what invention you made me
‘Cause I, I was meant to be yours
Full song in profile
(Arcane - amazing animated series on Netflix. This is the final song of series 1) Could Have Been - Sting, Ray Chen
Lonesome Tears - Beck
god, and cancer, and paralysis, and mind-numbing fear…pt 2
Still waiting for the Justice, and Hope, and Love
I suspect you know the struggle in your own ache and suffering to glimpse the above…it’s hard
Lonesome tears
I can't cry them anymore
I can't think of what they're for
Oh they ruin me every time
But I'll try
To leave behind some days
These tears just can't erase
I don't need them anymore
How could this love
Ever turning
Never turn its eye on me
How could this love
Ever changing
Never change the way I feel
Lazy sun
Your eyes catch the light
With promises that might
Come true for awhile
Oh I'll ride
Farther than I should
Harder than I could
Just to meet you there
If You Want Me - Röyksopp
God, and Cancer, and Paralysis, and Mind-Numbing Fear…pt 1
The topics of ‘theós’ (god), immanent agency, Nick Cave’s ‘I don’t believe in an interventionist God’ (from ‘Into My Arms’), and all sorts of other stuff, have raised their heads for me since I was about 9/10yo. I was brought up in a ‘belief’ in an interventionist God, and that has shaped me for good or for ill. Yet ‘belief’ doesn’t cut it for me now - either for nor against (G)god.
I guess I am something of an ‘experientialist’ by disposition, experience, and practice. And I don’t have any answers or experiences of the god question (sigh of relief - no preachy moments!). Yet my body’s in pain, and I’m scared. And I find I’m still out there searching, although my stamina is rapidly waning.
These songs over the next 3-part series are me crying out for justice, and hope, and love.
And if you don’t resonate with this at all, they’re still cool songs!
Spotify link
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Roberta Flack
…purity…Just…purity
We begin the last of the ‘After Dark’ series.
…late night (exquisite) tunes…drink and a watch…cosy outfit
Spotify link
Unforgettable - Nat King Cole
Those who are far, and unforgettable, I wish you were near.
This song is for you
…late night tunes…drink and Tudor watch…cosy outfits

Lay it Down - Al Green
Relax and unwind - a new series begins!
“Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place, if you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!
- Stop.
- Lay It Down…Let it Go…Fall in Love

Sigur Rós - Svo hljótt
Sigur Rós didn’t play this song at the concert, but it spoke to me over the week. Hope is a deeply human thing, carrying burdens and hurts and reshaping them…if left in the right hands they spur on discovery of Life. This song is about my Hope
Spotify link
So quiet
I leaned on you, in silence
All remained still, and you
You sang to me, so quietly
You sang to me, so quietly
In the moonlight I can see you lying face down
In the moonlight you become blue twilight
So I thank you for the hope you gave
So I thank you for hope ...

Billie Holiday - Willow Weep for Me
This song comes from my second favourite Billie Holiday album (#1 Lady in Satin)
True blues give us so much, and the queen Billie…the one who more than any other deserves the title the ‘aching and suffering visionary’…poured herself out so that we might mourn too. Please join with me as you listen to the full song…I need you people. (Also, I think this song goes with the outfit coming up…)

Mercedes Benz - Janis Joplin
Whichever ’lord’ you follow, be it some immanent/transcendent being through to yourself following your heart, brain cancer will mess with your categories. This searing song by Janis Joplin, heard through the cancer lens particularly, calls into stark relief my beliefs about myself and my place in this cosmos. Maybe it will for you in your world 🤷‍♂️…Or just laugh at the silly song and go have a croissant 🤣

If I believe you
I've got a God-shaped hole
That's infected
And I'm petrified of being alone, now
It's pathetic, I know
And I toss and I turn in my bed
It's just like I lost my head (Lost my head)
And if I believe you
Will that make it stop?
If I told you I need you
Is that what you want?
And I'm broken and bleeding
And begging for help
And I'm asking you, Jesus, show yourself
I thought I'd met you once or twice
But that was just because the dabs were nice and opening up my mind
Showing me consciousness is primary in the universe
And I had a revelation
I'll be your child, if you insist
I mean, if it was you that made my body
You probably shouldn't have made me atheist
But, oh, I'm a lesbian kiss, I'm an evangelist
And if you don't want to go to hell, then, Miss
You better start selling this
If I'm lost then how can I find myself?
When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die
Where were you when I was lonesome?
Locked away with freezing cold
Someone flying, only stolen
I can't tell, this night's so old
I don't wanna swim the ocean
I don't wanna fight the tide
I don't wanna swim forever
When it's cold I'd like to die
What was that, my sweet, sweet nothing?
I can't hear you through the fog
If I holler, let me go
If I falter, let me know

This was hard to post. This was the first music track with voice I was able to listen to in isolation in rehab when dealing with deep trauma. The words and music are very important to me.
Tomorrow!
And tomorrow the sun will shine again
and on the way that I will go,
she will again unite us, the happy ones
amidst this sun-breathing earth,
and to the beach, wide, wave-blue
will we still and slowly descend
silently we will look in each other's eyes
and upon us will sink the mute silence of happiness

What does cancer feel like?…for me at this time, it feels like every aspect of this song - from the cancer to paralysis to mind churning fear. I’m going in to the hospital today for another set of treatment, with not a hope that it will cure, but hopefully extend. I find it hard to get my head around…
…But thanks to the sublime Becca Stevens (@beccastevensbsb) and the Attacca Quartet (@attaccaquartet) who just ‘get’ it…your skills, passion, and hard work made a profound difference in my life this week. I’m truly grateful. Hopefully I’ve put some folk onto your artistry via the link…

This is an opportunity to stand with a very special woman in horror and hope as a refugee and aid worker who escaped from Kyiv.
This song is the ‘second anthem’ of Ukraine and is the hope of grace amidst the powers that seek to destroy.

Music Discovery
Tumblr media
I enjoy music. I sometimes might even go so far as to say I love music. However, I don't think I love it as much as some people do. How do you determine if you love something? I've been to concerts. I've bought albums. I follow some bands online. I own t-shirts. Is that love? Regardless, I enjoy music.
A few years ago, I had discovered this new genre of music that I was really into but didn't know many artists within that genre. I very much wanted to listen to more of that kind of music, but I didn't know how to find some. Luckily, I eventually discovered that SoundCloud had a built-in feature that would let you listen to other songs like the song you were listening to.
I eventually came to refer to this as "music discovery". SoundCloud proved to be an excellent way for me to discover new artists within that genre and I was off to the races. In a very short amount of time, I became quickly familiar with many artists that I very much enjoyed.
I would discover new artists and songs on SoundCloud, then I would look for their music on Apple Music. If I couldn't find it there, I would look for it on the iTunes Store. If I couldn't find it there, I would look for them on bandcamp. I would almost always find them on bandcamp for this genre of music. Once I owned the music on bandcamp, I would download it and then upload it to Apple Music. And so this process would go on for a while of me bouncing around between SoundCloud, bandcamp, and Apple Music. It was a little bit of work, but I was like a kid in a candy store, it was an amazing time full of great, new musical discoveries.
In August 2023, Apple launched their own music discovery feature with the Discovery Station. Based on what Apple Music already knows about your tastes, it starts to play songs from various artists it thinks you might be into. This was like what I had been doing before, but now the loop was a lot shorter: I didn't need to bounce around between several places. I could immediately add anything I liked directly to my music library from the Discovery Station.
To be fair, it's a great effort and I'm glad Apple made it; but It isn't perfect, but I don't think music discovery can be.
I think if you're a music enthusiast, you need two components for enjoying music in 2024: a service for discovery and a service for listening. For years, I used SoundCloud for discovery (I could have just as easily used YouTube, which is also a legit way of discovering music you might like. In decades prior, people used MTV or the radio for music discovery) and I used Apple Music for listening. Today, I use Apple Music for both and I'm glad.

Blog 9
Hey! This week we were asked to write about something we think is amazing about nature. Since I’m a big fan of anything fossilized, I wanted to write about a favourite topic of mine: fossil forests! (And the evolutions of land plants and forests in general.)
Fossil forests are really just what they sound like: fossilized or otherwise preserved stands of ancient trees. However, like a lot of ancient things, there’s a ton we still don’t know about them. Ancient forests are often poorly preserved, if they were preserved at all (Berry, 2019). Since fossils are best preserved in areas that were muddy, with fine sediment and low oxygen, often just fossilized roots and stumps are left behind (Berry, 2019). However, there are some fossil forests where whole ancient trees have been preserved, which has let us learn about what the earliest forest were like. The world’s first forests evolved around 400 million years ago, during the Devonian period (Meyer-Berthaud & Decombeix, 2012). This was around 200 million years before flowering plants evolved, and even before dinosaurs (Berry, 2019)!
These early forests were quite different than the ones we have today, but they’re still recognizable as forests. I've included a picture below of an illustration of a fossil forest. The first known tree-like plants are called Cladoxylopsids (Fazan et al. 2020). These plants were tall, up to six metres in height, and had long, unbranched trunks with simple canopies (Meyer-Berthaud & Decombeix, 2012). Although they looked a lot like trees, they’re more closely related to today’s ferns (Meyer-Berthaud & Decombeix, 2012). Additionally, they didn’t have complex roots yet, as land plants had yet to develop them (Berry, 2019). Instead, they had woody rhizomes, root like structures that anchored the plant (Meyer-Berthaud & Decombeix, 2012). Recently, it was discovered that these giant plants likely weren’t even made up of woody tissue, and were more like giant hollow reeds (Stein et al. 2012). This even had implication for our understanding of plant evolution, since up until that study discovery wood was generally thought to have evolved as a support tissue, rather than to assist in water and nutrient transport as part of the plant’s “plumbing” (Fazan et al. 2020).
Fossil forests also help illustrate the issues with studying paleontology. Since, like I mentioned above, most extinct things just weren’t preserved, it can be difficult to get an accurate picture of what ancient life was like. This can often lead to much lower estimates of biodiversity than what was actually there at the time. For example, one of the world’s most well-known fossil forests, the Gilboa Fossil Forest, was recently discovered to have had a third plant present, forming a previously unknown understory (Meyer-Berthaud & Decombeix, 2012).

Discover 5 Must-Hear Underrated Artists
Do you ever find yourself bored with the same old tunes on the radio? Or maybe you're tired of listening to the chart-toppers that everyone seems to be raving about. Well, fear not! In this blog, I am going to introduce you to five incredibly talented but underrated artists that you absolutely must listen to. So, let's dive right in and explore these hidden gems in the music world.
Tumblr media
The Local Train
Let's kick things off with The Local Train, a rock band hailing from New Delhi. Formed in 2008, this band is all about capturing the experiences of today's youth, often blending Hindi and Urdu seamlessly in their songs. Comprising members Raman Negi, Paras Thakur, Ramit Mehra, and Sahil Sarin, The Local Train has released two albums filled with amazing tracks that range from rocking anthems to slow, soul-soothing melodies.
One of their standout tracks is "Aaftab" from the album "Vaaqif." This song, with its slow and moving rhythm, has the power to stir your emotions, leaving you unable to resist hitting that replay button. If you're looking for more, give songs like "Choo Lo," "Vaaqif," and "Aaoge Tum Kabhi" a listen.

Anuv Jain
Anuv Jain may have been a singer for some time, but it was during the lockdown that he decided to go full-time, and we're glad he did. His music is dominated by acoustic sounds, with lyrics that resonate with emotions we all can relate to. In Anuv's words, "It's nice to see how people have liked my music, and more people are listening to it."
One of his tracks, "Mishri," reached over a million streams on Spotify. This slow and lyrical song is bound to tug at your heartstrings with its extraordinary lyrics. For more of his soulful tunes, try "Alag Aasmaan," "Baarishien," and "Riha."
Advait
Advait is perhaps the most underrated artist on our list. This musical maestro blends English and Hindi in his songs, creating haunting, slow, and stirring melodies. One of his remarkable tracks is "Tu Hain Kahaan," which incorporates elements from the soundtrack of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." It's truly an amazing piece of art.
Advait's songs are like your best-kept secrets, those pieces of music that you don't want to share with anyone because they are your personal gateways to peace and warmth. Dive into his enchanting world with songs like "Befikar," "Manzile," and "Main So Gaya Hoon."
Prateek Kuhad
You might have heard Prateek Kuhad's name after his song "Kho Gaye Hum Kahan" featured in the movie "Baar Baar Dekho." However, this independent artist deserves much more spotlight than he currently has. His album "cold/mess" caught the attention of former US President Barack Obama, who listed it in his favorite music of 2019.
In 2020, Kuhad made history as the first Indian artist to sign with the American record label Elektra Records. His music effortlessly combines Hindi and English, offering a mix of slow and pop vibes. Don't miss out on tracks like "Kho Gaye Hum Kahan," "Kahan Ho Tum," "Cold/Mess," and "For Your Time."
When Chai Met Toast
Our final discovery takes us to the picturesque landscapes of Kerala, where "When Chai Met Toast" emerged. This band's enchanting music came to my attention when I stumbled upon their song "Firefly" while searching for tunes by Owl City. The band was originally a duo consisting of Ashwin and Achyuth, and later, Pai Sailesh and Palee Francis joined the lineup.
Their songs predominantly feature English lyrics, sprinkled with a touch of Hindi and Tamil. With tracks like "Beautiful World," "Khoj," and "Believe," they've created a refreshing soundscape that will leave you hitting the replay button. Thanks to platforms like YouTube, we have the chance to discover this incredible indie band. Once you listen to their music, you'll find it hard to stop playing their songs on loop.

The music industry is teeming with hidden talents waiting to be discovered. These five underrated artists offer a refreshing break from the mainstream and bring a unique blend of sounds and stories to your playlists. So, if you're in the mood for something fresh and exciting, give The Local Train, Anuv Jain, Advait, Prateek Kuhad, and When Chai Met Toast a listen. You won't be disappointed!

Those of you who reassured me、thank you very much♪
Now to talk about Ikebukuro!
Tumblr media
Yumigeta Ako dancing with a huge smile during the intro
Everyone!Have you watched Hello Station〜???
You can see some footage from our performance at Ikebukuro Sunshine!
You can watch our first performance of our new song 「Nanzansho Souzansho」 in front of an audience…!
Please tap here if you're interested👇
Please be sure to watch it!
youtube
Ikebukuro Sunshine〜 was so much fun〜!
Loooots of people came to see us for the press interviews to start with so I was really nervous、but once I came back on stage and the foundations went off I didn't feel any nerves at all😂
Isn't that amazing?!
How the fountains went Woosh!!
I loved it♪
And、something that surprised me when we started performing 「Nanzansho Souzansho」
Was that you were cheering along even though it was our first performance of it 笑lol
You were already perfect by the 2nd verse…
At our First Event we mostly performed songs that don't have calls to go with them、so hearing 「Gettaa!」 in person made me really happy!
I wonder of my call will be 「Ako-chan」 or 「Gettaa」 or 「Akochi」!?
I'm excited to find out during the Autumn Tour!
My guess is…
「Gettaa」🤣
What are you all expecting it to beー??
Please let me know in the comments❗️

Well then it's time for today's 【Gettaa Life】✨
Today I met the member-sans at work、
And during our break、since I know I'll want to post about what we did today on my blog someday Inoue took a photo of me!
But
When I looked at the photo Inoue took of me、I noticed something…
What did I notice。
Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock Time's Up
Surprisingly I look better in photos when I tilt my chin up!
That makes sense!😂
As for how I noticed this、
It's because when I usually take selfies I naturally hold the camera at eye level。
Because I'm holding my phone。
But when Inoue took my photo
What she did
Is she held the camera quite low、
And since I was my first time seeing a photo of myself from that angle I looked really different!、
So then I slowly realised
「This is better…?」笑lol
A new discovery👍
I Getted 「A new angle」✨
Thanks Inoue!
Next time I'll take a photo of Inoue!
That's all!This has been 【Gettaa Life】!

Disney's "Moana" to Include Live-Action Reimagining, According to Dwayne Johnson
Tumblr media
A live-action remake of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 2016 blockbuster feature film Moana is already in production, according to Dwayne Johnson, who made the announcement in a recorded message from Hawaii today. Executive Chairman Bob Iger made the disclosure during the webcast of The Walt Disney Company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders. The new movie is made by Beau Flynn through Flynn Film Co. and Johnson, Dany, and Hiram Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions. Auli'i Cravalho, who provided Moana's voice, and Scott Sheldon of Flynn Film Co. are executive producers. The production will also include Samoan-Americans Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller. Moana's screenplay was written by Bush, who also directed and co-wrote Disney's Oscar-winning Encanto and co-wrote Disney's Oscar-winning Zootopia (2016). Similar to its animated predecessor, which earned nearly $644 million at the global box office and was one of the Top 15 movies streamed in the U.S. in 2022, the live-action remake of Moana will celebrate the islands, communities, and traditions of Pacific Islanders as seen through the eyes of a young woman eager to forge her own path. Moana won admirers from all around the world thanks to her journey of self-discovery, reflection on the lives of her ancestors, and her friendship with an exiled demigod named Maui. Bringing Moana's lovely tale to the live-action big screen is an honour that leaves Johnson feeling "truly humbled and overflowing with gratitude," said Johnson, who intends to sail back into the story's imaginary world with Moana. "This narrative is part of my culture, and it exemplifies the grace and bravery of our people. The mana and spirit of my late grandpa, High Chief Peter Maivia, pushed me to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit Maui.
