NewJeans isn't going anywhere, so everyone else really should get comfortable with the idea of seeing them at the top. That's all there is to say.

4 - Crying - BOYNEXTDOOR

I don't know where my head was at when I ranked this the worst song on the album. Clearly, I was wrong. This song was a pleasant companion during the autumn months, and I can't wait to see what else they come out with.

3 - Chaconne - ENHYPEN

Do you know what a chaconne is? That's not a rhetorical question btw. No shade either, I'm just curious. For those who don't know, a chaconne is a rhythmical and harmonic motif over a pronounced bass-line. That's my leftover understanding from music classes taken a lifetime ago. According to google, a chaconne is also "a slow, solemn dance in 3/4 time, of Spanish or Moorish origin, similar to the passacaglia." For a non-k-pop example, I recommend Hilary's rendition of Bach's chaconne (more leftover knowledge from a lifetime ago).

Anyway, this likely isn't important context. The use of "chaconne" in the song probably has more to do with how it sounds in the song, than what it means. In any case, Enhypen earned a gold star from me with this pantydropper anthem.

2 - Criminal Love - ENHYPEN

I'm not sure how many of you were here when Heartbeat and Dream Glow were released. What I remember was shock, pure incredulity that BigHit would release songs of that quality for game OSTs. From ARMYs and k-pop stans alike, this was the sentiment. It was like a flex that BTS had such a peerless discography they could make songs like this for a side gig.

That's immediately what I was reminded of when I first heard Criminal Love, released as the OST for Enhypen's webtoon. It's moody, vampy, seduction in a song. That's what that song is. Sad too, when you hear the lyrics. Watching the live performance only drives it home.

1 - Blind - ENHYPEN

This song has given me one of the best auditory experiences I've ever had in k-pop. Which is a bit odd because yes a lot happens in the production, but the switches are so subtle you almost don't notice it.

Heeseung, Ni-ki, Jay, Sunoo, Sunghoon, Jake, and Jungwon - all outdid themselves on this song. Vocally, they sound incredible. The writing, (again) is top notch. This is one of the only songs released this year that I genuinely struggle not to loop.

5 - Yes or No - Jung Kook

This is one song I'm praying and begging that we get thousands of remixes of. HYBE, please work your magic and give us 10 remixes of Yes or No. I need it. This is the perfect pop song in that it makes you crave more. I know it's got a predictable, common almost, chord progression in VI -> V -> I -> IV, but it's perfect in that it's impossible to get sick of it. It just worms itself into your head and all you can think of is all the ways to sing all over those chords.

Jung Kook's vocal work on that song is irreproachable. He's really set himself apart with this album and I'm glad he did it.

4 - Snooze - AGUST D, ft. Ryuichi Sakamoto & Woosung

HUH?! should be here, as should Amygdala so consider this a triple entry: HUH + Snooze + Amygdala. The reason why is self-evident (I hope).

Anyway... I want to talk a bit about Snooze.

Yoongi loves using the piano. He likes the sound of it, and you can tell in songs like Snooze. He has such a profound love and respect for that musical instrument that it only makes sense a man like Ryuichi acknowledged Yoongi before he passed.

With everything that happened this year, remembering Moonbin, and knowing that Yoongi made this song for his juniors... the first time I heard this song it completely destroyed me. Anyone who hasn't paid attention to the lyrics yet should check it.

When I casually listen in to TXT, SVT, Enhypen, BoyNextDoor, and see the work they're doing, putting out easily some of the best music and performances in their generations, I hope and pray they develop a support system that genuinely values them, soon. I hope they survive this industry, and thrive in it.

3 - All Day - RM ft Tablo

Not to be that person (since he's canceled for reasons and it actually makes sense why), but when I first saw the song title All Day, I immediately remembered All Day by Kanye West - one of the sauciest and meanest songs he's ever made. I was worried, given the tone of the album to that point, that Namjoon was going to give us his take on Ye's original. Joon is more than capable of dropping a track just as mean if not more. I didn't put it past him to pay homage to the Kanye joint by taking a spin on it. But, thankfully, All Day is nothing like Kanye's song, and it's my favourite song on Indigo because it's the best.

Joon's diction on this track is *chef's kiss*. His voice.... that outro, and thank goodness, Tablo came through. He actually has a presence on the track and made it even more worth the listen.

It kills me that we don't even have a visualizer for this masterpiece.

2 - Set Me Free Pt 2 - Jimin

Thank you for giving me another chance to talk about Set Me Free Pt 2.

One reason all the anxiety and fear-mongering around Jimin seems insane to me is because Jimin dropped this song and ended k-pop in 2023. He literally has no real competition. He came in, showed out, and left. That song is the sexiest joint out of Korea this year. It's so nasty. He's absolutely disgusting on this song in how brutally he makes rubbish of everything beneath him. Like, he literally has people bowing down to him in the choreography. Bobbing their heads like Funko Pops, while he sings to be set free. I'm going on a bit of a tangent here, but I want to say something. There's a cruelty in the way Jimin speaks. Whether to someone else or to himself. It's often (somewhat) restrained, born of the way he sees the world I think, and it was especially brutal in their early days, but he's toned it down significantly since 2016. It's virtually non-existent in his speech patterns and word choice now. Jimin of the last few years communicates gently, directly, tactfully, and at worst, bluntly. A lot of that cruelty is toned down but he unleashes a whisper of it on SMF Pt 2. Just listen to what he's saying on that song. That autotune effect on his voice was for our benefit and safety. Nothing can convince me otherwise. And we haven't even yet gotten into the full symbolism of the MV and his lyricism...

The moment I heard this song I knew I would bias Jimin. He's a man who knows what he's doing.

Jimin is a one of a kind wonder. Real magic in a person. An artist. He proves it on Set Me Free Pt 2. Kudos to PDogg too - the GOAT.

When it comes to song construction, I have to give credit where credit is due and the fact is Hoseok outdid himself with this song. It is perfect, my top pick for a k-pop song in 2023. Jermaine did good on it too. But, you know... Hoseok.

The whistle melody he came up with, the beat, the vocal layering, the mixing, the MV direction - all of it is perfect. If we were giving scores based on separate components, OTS would get 10s in every category.

Honestly, Hoseok coming out at number 1 is kind of expected of him lol.

Summary: It's time to start your training for your duel! The Sheriff has splurged on a new gun for you, so you'd better impress him with those skills!

Chapter 3 - The Training: Undertale Yellow OST: 072 - Sunnyside Farm

You stirred in your sleep, tossing and turning. Groaning ever so often at the relentless pain in your head. Why’d that guy, Edward, have to drop you so freakin’ hard!

Eventually you’d had enough of pretending to be asleep, and woke up once again in a foreign bed. The sheets were red, and smelt of gunpowder. To your right, a sleeping bag was poised on the ground.

As you woke up and let the light of the day settle better into your dreary eyes, you could see that the room was covered in sleeping gear; Hammocks and pillows and couches. Even what looked to be a cat bed?

You slowly got out of the bed, being sure to rearrange the covers neatly once you were done.

In the corner of the room was a TV and beside it was a pile of VHS’s. You walked over, examining them. Despite being left on the floor of what was quite a dingy wooden house, there was seldom any dust on them. Looking at the labels, you recognised them all as classic Spaghetti Westerns; Man Hunt, Gunslinger’s Revenge, They Call Me Renegade, No Country for Old Men. They were all quite old films… How did they make their way down here?

You stood back up, looking over to the bed you had just emerged from. It was clear this was the Feisty Fives living quarters. And the bed you were sleeping in belonged to-

“Rise an’ shine partner!” North Star crashed through the door, leading in some of the light from outside with him. It’s like it followed him, stuck to his skin. Or maybe monsters of his kind could just *glow*. “You slept quite a bit. It’s nearly midday.” He flicked on the lights before walking over to you. “If you’re not up for training today, that’s alright.” He placed his gloved hand on your shoulder, “Being a cowboy as great as me is tough work of course. Gotta make sure you’re rested!” He laughed, his eyes squinting under his hat. He had a sweet laugh, an infectious one that caught you giggling along with him. No wonder he accumulated such a posse.

“Sorry I slept in. I don’t even remember getting here.” His hand still rested on your shoulder, grounding you. You felt a little spacey after such a night, and still a little wary of this stranger. Could you even be deemed strangers anymore? You had stayed the night in his own bed! “Where did you sleep last night?”

“Oh! Uh,” He sheepishly pointed to a pillow, laid on the floor next to the bed.

“You can’t be serious!” He held up his hands in faux defence, chuckling to himself,

“It’s quite alright, darlin’. You needed a good rest, and my bed’s the best of ‘em.” You scrunch your face at the answer, turning away in slight embarrassment.

“Hey, how about you make it up to me by meetin’ me at the saloon in 15? We’ll start trainin’ soon!” Oh right, training. You had nearly forgotten, having been too carried away with the logistics of the man's bed you had just slept in, and the pretty way he called you names and-

“Sounds like a plan. See you in 15 minutes.” He tipped his hat at you before leaving. It was goofy, and stupid, and you liked it.

Not even yesterday you were shooting at the guy, pointing spears at him. Now you’re sleeping in his bed, and meeting up with him in 15 minutes!

Speaking of which, it was time to get ready-

–

“Look who got themselves all pretty.” North Star lobbied his compliments to you from across the bar, walking over to meet you halfway. “Let’s get you armed up and ready! Follow me.”

With that, he slipped past you, and you followed along close behind him. He led you out of the saloon, and out of the town square. You both went down one of the paths you had tread earlier when trying to make your escape. You felt sheepish retreading those panicked steps-

Luckily you stopped far before you made it to the gate, in front of a large wooden building. “The guy that works here is a friend of mine. I’m sure he’ll be happy to let you borrow some of his wares.” That didn’t sound entirely true- But you played along for now, enjoying the game of pretend.

North Star sauntered up to the door of the building, and you stood beside him on the patio. He knocked with his knuckles, yelling out through the door; “Open up, Blackjack! Don’t make me use force!” He smirked under the pointed brim of his hat, “I make the law so I can legally shoot down your doors!” How much of this was a *game*, anyway? Was he really going to gun this door down?

Suddenly, you heard the yell of an older voice, weathered with time;

“Get off my property, North Star!” You chuckled at the angered response. “I told you I wouldn’t even sell you a gumball!”

They continued to bicker back and forth as you watched North Star play the role of the negotiator. He had played it well with you earlier when you had approached him with the spear. *Now*, however, his abilities seemed to be failing him.

“You lost one of my premium revolvers last week!” Ah jeez.

“Look, I promise this is a different scenario, Jack. I won’t even step inside. You can meet me out here.” After a small pause, you could hear some rustling from behind the door. North Star started his way down the stairs and back onto the dry sand of the dunes. You followed suit. “See? I ‘ave it all under control.” He reassured you. His confidence unwavering.

“I never doubted you for a second, sheriff.” You teased, but by the looks of his reaction, he took it completely genuinely; a broad smile and a slight blush as he responded;

“Glad to hear that, rookie.”

Eventually, a rotund purple monster, fitted out with round glasses and a fedora, walked out of the building on a pegged leg. His wooden prosthetic squeaked and wheezed against the wooden floorboards of the patio.

“Make it speedy.” He uttered. The warm wind rolled around the three of you, and the very exchange itself felt like the beginning of a standoff. The tension was so thick, that it seemed as if at any moment, North Star would shoot through it towards Blackjack, and Jack would respond, aiming his revolver at the sheriff. Excitement! And tension and drama!

Yet, nothing had happened at all. Just stares of contemplation.

“Of cooourse, sir!” North Star seemed to mimic, adopting a playful demeanour. He was a good actor, even if you solved his scheme quite quickly; “I was just gunna ask you to sell a gun to this human.”

Blackjack retreated quickly, despite his age and lack of leg. North Star was quick to make his pleas, the facade dropping for just a moment; “I worded that poorly, hold on! This ain’t a real human, you see. I was jokin’. They’re just a very fleshy monster!” Then all was quiet. He sighed while looking over at you, giving you a weak smile.

“I’ll give ya 400G.” Before you could object to such a price, Blackjack had rushed out, revolver already in hand as He and North Star made the exchange. Before you could utter a word, the transaction was done, just the quick pull of a trigger, it was over.

“North Star! That is so expensive! You can’t possibly spend that much on just a gun!” You angrily tried to reason with him, but he kept meeting your anger with a cocky looking gaze, and a smirk that he wore all too well.

“It’s fine, it’s fine dear. I can afford it! Plus, you can have it as a gift, for taking yer old one! And accidentally bashing yer head in.” If he was just going to give you a new gun, why even bother trying to get your old one? “Of course…” He started, leaning in close to you. You could nearly see under the shadow of his hat at this distance, “I’ll be making sure you don’t run off with this ‘till our deal is done. Sound good?” He waved the gun in front of you, like bait on a fishing rod. You were flushed; embarrassed at the display.

“Sure- Sounds fine.” You crossed your arms. “Don’t ever spend that much on something so stupid ever again.” You muttered, before North Star led you off.

Close by Blackjack’s shop was a training ground, with dummies set up around the place. The area around them was littered with bullet casings.

“This is where I like to practise my aim! It’s not everyday I’m going around shooting people, so dummies will have to do.” He smiled. North Star reached down to the holster on his leg, pulling out his gun. He handed the new one he had just bought to you. “Let’s see what you can do!”

You nodded confidently, walking up to the edge of the counter that stood between you and the dummies. They were about 8 metres away, and average in size. You readied your gun, aiming it towards one of the mannequins in the centre.

The new gun felt far heavier than the toy that had been taken from you. It was a sturdy metal, with a clean sheen to it. Yet the gun felt off in your hands, you couldn’t get the same grip that you got with the toy gun, which was far smaller in size.

“Here- let me just-” You heard North Star come up behind you, placing his hands on your shoulders, shifting them to a different position. “There.” He whispered softly, “You want to have one of your shoulders back a little like this.” His touch was very gentle, something that you didn’t expect after being manhandled by Ed the night prior. You felt tense at the closeness.

North Star stepped back from you, “Okay, try takin’ the shot.” He said, confidently. If only his faith in you was well placed-

You felt the trigger under your finger, and tried to push down, but the trigger was a lot stiffer than your other gun. It took a lot more force.

Suddenly you felt your shoulder jolt to the side, as the icy sound of a piercing bullet rang through your ears. You stepped away from the counter in slight shock, feeling your breath heave slightly in surprise.

“Woah now! We don’t wanna go shootin’ somebody's head off now do we?” You could hear the sheriff chuckle from behind you.

Looking back up, it was clear your bullet hadn’t even grazed the fabric flesh of the mannequin. A real gun is a lot different from the cheap shit you were using-

“Okay, okay. I think I know what the problem is.” He leant on the counter next to you, staring up at you under the brim of his hat. “Try aiming again. I’ll adjust.”

Feeling a little tense at the offer, but you slowly shifted back into the stance you had adopted previously. “Good, good. You’ve got the shoulders down.” You felt him behind you, “Ah, you’re not lining up the front and back sights. Are you aiming with the barrel?” He said incredulously.

“Maybe-” You mumbled. “I’m going to be frank with you. I’ve never shot a real gun- I’ve hardly even shot that fake gun that you took from me. It’s just some toy!”

You felt him move in closer, you could feel his breath on your neck, his chin on your shoulder.

“I could tell. That warning shot was just a fluke.” You could practically hear his smirk. “But that’s okay. That’s why we’re training. Gotta make it fair.” His voice was so close to you, and its southern twang helped pluck the pain of the ringing bullet out of your ears.

North Star learnt one of his arms over yours, pushing it slightly to the left. It was so warm with him so close, you could barely stand. “See, you’ve gotta close one eye when you shoot. You can’t aim with both eyes open. That’s how I knew you had never shot a gun before.”

“Wow- exposed much?” You laughed, trying to release the tension of his body being so close to yours. This was strictly business after all!

“See, when you close your eye, you need to line up that front bump and back bump on the top of the gun. From where I am it’s lined up, but I can’t guarantee it’ll be lined up for you. And I can’t exactly get any closer to you to make this more accurate. Unless you’d like me to, of course~” He laughed, walking back slightly and observing your form. You hit him in the shoulder lightly,

“Shut up-” You mumbled with a slight chuckle. “Let me focus.” You tried the stance again, closing your eye and lining up the front and back bump on the top of the gun.

“Are you saying I distract you, darlin’?” North Star fell into more laughter.

You tried ignoring him and his words. You lined up the two bumps, and right behind them was the mannequin.

As he chuckled beside you, you pulled the trigger. The gun pushed back against your hand as you heard the bullet go flying. You heaved a breath in peeking over the counter to see if you had hit the dummy.

“Woah! Hey, good job rookie!” North Star had ceased his laughter, and wrapped a supportive arm around your shoulder. “You might’ve only hit its lower torso but you didn’t miss it! That’s for sure!” You felt yourself smile. It felt nice to succeed for once-

“Well, let’s keep going!”

By now it was late afternoon, though it could be hard to tell under the relentless desert rays. You had shot round after round, missing a couple before hitting a few. As you shot, you and North Star had exchanged some banter, and a conversation here and there.

You had just set off another shot, letting the ringing sound of the bullet settle in the space before you asked,

“Hey, so, I saw some VHS’s in your house. They’re yours right?”

“Yep, I scavenged them from some trash heap. It’s all human stuff from the surface. It trickles down here eventually and well- we get to collect the scraps!”

You shot another round. This one missed, to North Star’s disappointment. His saddened expression was kind of cute given the circumstances.

“No wonder you’re like a real cowboy, with all those films and stuff.”

“I guess you could say that. Maybe I was a real cowboy all along, and the good stuff knew how to find me!” He smirked.

“Sure- sure.” Another shot, this one barely missed. You grumbled in annoyance.

“I’ve always been invested in that human stuff, maybe the worlds paying me back by giving me all those movies! Like some old Western omen!”

“Of course.” You giggled, “Why do you like all this human stuff so much?” You turned to him. He sat against the counter, pondering. Not once in these past few hours had you seen him so contemplative.

After a moment he replied; “Everything just seems so happy- Even if they’re shooting over some guy's wife, or some guy's cattle, or some guy's land, they’re *free*. They can roam on their fire-proof monsters, and go riding into balls of fire all they want!” Ignoring the fire ball thing, the whole answer honestly dampened your good mood. It was clear from nearly every monster you had met that the claustrophobia of the underground had set in long before this generation of monsters was even born.

“Yeah- I can see that.” You responded,

“So it's true?”

“Huh?”

“That humans are fire proof?”

“Well- technically speaking *yes* but-”

“I knew it! Ceroba’s going to be so mad- I knew it!” And just like that, the mood changed back to light and cheerful. Yet you could still see a hint of sadness left in his eyes. He fronted it with a visage of happiness quite well. You decided to ignore it for now.

The name he spoke caught your attention,

“Ceroba… is she the fox lady?” He nodded,

“And my best friend. Since childhood!” It’s like he wore their friendship like a badge of honour. It was honestly quite a sweet display.

That made everything click into place a little better. Ceroba was there before, in the bar when you approached. She probably felt safe around North Star, hence why she didn’t panic when you brandished your spear.

She had talked to you later in the night as well. She seemed a bit stoic and standoff-ish but appreciative of your arrival nonetheless. Maybe it was good to have one straight man to balance the heap of crazy cowboys.

“Have you met her?” You nodded, turning away to fire another shot. This one landed! “Nice!” You heard North Star exclaim.

“Yeah, I met her briefly. When you went to set up all *this*,” You gestured around yourself, “She had spoken with me. Just asking if I was alright.” He smiled at you.

“My oldest friend and my newest friend! Pals already huh! This is going great! And she said it’d be a bad idea-” He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, looking out at the shooting range;

“That *what* would be a bad idea?” You turned to him with slight concern,

“Well, hanging out with you ‘n all.” You frowned, turning back and taking another shot. This one hit right in the head of the mannequin.

“I knew it was a good idea though! I mean, come on, a real life human! It’s like the movies but real! And you’re so much different to how I thought you’d be!”

“You barely know me yet. I barely know *you* yet.”

“Well then that’ll just have to change right?” He smiled, patting you on the shoulder, “Plus, it feels like I’ve known you for years already.” You couldn’t tell whether or not he was just saying that, but irregardless it felt good to hear.

“Yeah- me too.” North Star seemed to perk up at hearing that, his cheeks flushing a warm teal. He turned away from you, hiding under his hat,

“It’s getting warm- Maybe we should head in for the day?” He suggested,

“Sounds good, Sheriff.” He turned to you,

“I’ll buy ya a drink?” You smiled up at him,

“Sounds like a plan, Star.”

“How was trainin’ with the boss today, newbie?”

“Good- good. I’m not the best with a gun, sadly.”

“Seemed to enjoy yourself nonetheless, hm?”

“Of course. It was fun. We’re shooting guns but I didn’t feel in danger. For once-”

“I know he had fun too. Keep it up, rookie!”

BL/QL Ask game : The Ugly, the Bad and the Worst

Thank you for tagging me @twig-tea 🙏 I read your post and the questions while going Ohhh interesting but when I actually tried to answer them myself, I realized that I'm usually pretty positive about the shows I watch or else I just move on from them. Most of the time, I don't fault characters or a whole show for being bad anyway, it's more the writing/script, directing choices, or editing that I tend to have gripes with.

So! Of the entire 22 original questions (by @clara-maybe-ontheroad), I'll only be answering a handful. This will also only be about Thai BLs because they make up the vast majority of QLs I've seen.

1 Worst soundtrack / weirdest song choice in a BL

My knee-jerk reaction was "Never Let Me Go country song NC" lmao but then I went to rewatch said scene and it barely stood out to me. So after re-thinking I'll have to nominate two shows: Dangerous Romance and Until We Meet Again, for basically the same reason.

Chimon's OST สายลม (Wind), which I actually fell in love with when it dropped because Chimon's voice was such a pleasant surprise, is being entirely overused in DR, to the point that I'm starting to tire of a song that I actually like. Honorable mention: The completely random and unnecessary stage performance of Perth and Chimon's ซบกันไปนานๆ (Sunset) in ep. 5. Was it not enough to have them sing and vibe to it in the car earlier in the same episode??

Similarly, UWMA's OST is either entirely by one guy or entirely one song but it sure was grating on me, my patience and my enjoyment of the show. P'New series are already hit or miss for me but that singer/song/OST had me so fed up.

5 Worst plot line

The first show I ever dropped was Star In My Mind which is ridiculous considering how short it is. But the entire premise of Kluen being unable to open his goddamn mouth frustrated me to no end. I did pick it back up again at a later point though, so I could watch Sky In Your Heart and indulge in the JoongDunk cuteness from there on out.

7 A show people love but you find bad

I'm sorry to say but- it's Vice Versa. It was one of the first Thai QLs I watched along with as it aired but ultimately I gotta say Oof. It has a fun premise, the cinematography is super nice, and it's genuinely sweet. But the amount of product placements was staggering! I also just didn't vibe with JimmySea's chemistry, they just gave too much Friend energy for me to find them believable as a couple. They're not the only ones or the only series where I didn't really find the spark but that's not a Them problem. That's a me 'Needing my fictional couples to be head over heels for each other for my acespec ass to see/experience the attraction and connection' problem lol

8 A show people find bad but you will defend

Cutie Pie! And I will die on this hill, @twig-tea 😂 It has everything I love: good production quality, good acting, tangible chemistry between the couples (see last question lol), complicated emotions, push-and-pull between the romantic leads, a dedicated cast and crew, a great OST, I'm certain I'm forgetting a lot of stuff but there's just so much I love about this show.

At its core, it's about two people who turned themselves into the versions they think they should be for each other, based on their upbringing, expectations placed upon them, status differences etc. and how they learn to be honest with themselves and each other.

I've re-watched this show a number of times, each with different levels of Thai proficiency, which made me consider that this show might've been such a hit in Thailand but not as much internationally because there's maybe a language and trope/culture barrier here? On my first-time watch, I knew no Thai and was largely unfamiliar with what tropes are common in Thai romances and such. At the time, the show didn't hit me very much, I struggled to make sense of that pivotal fight in episode 1, I enjoyed the singing, it was mostly just a nice romance. On my most recent re-watch a few months back, I had reached the point where I could follow a spoken conversation in Thai as long as there were translated subs to guide me along. And suddenly the full weight of episode 1 but especially the fight at the end, setting up the central conflict, hit me and I realized: Oh wow! This is good writing! Introduce your characters, their backgrounds, their goals, and the show's core conflict and that's how you hook viewers.

This has already gotten long enough but I wanna mention how much it means to me to have this show not just call for marriage equality repeatedly but also to have them shout it out to the world by having their mlm couple fully make out in what is arguably one of the busiest corners of Bangkok - Siam Square! More specifically it is the area with the fountains between Siam Paragon on one side and Siam Center on the other, and the skywalk (that connects the various malls in the area) as well as the central BTS station Siam both overlooking that space. It's also called Parc Paragon, there's frequently events there, and it is busy as all hell!! And they not only cleared it for filming a lengthy queer kiss scene but, in the show, the huge LED/ad screens are used to project pride colors, a call for equal rights, and a queer marriage proposal in plain view of the entire square!

If you've never been to Bangkok, I beg you to look up photos, via Google Street View or the IG location tag for Parc Paragon so you get an idea of what I'm talking about. 🙏 (this isn't the only busy prominent location they used btw but djdjhdjsdj let's not write a whole damn essay here)

10 A bad show that you kept watching because you were intrigued/fascinated

Dinosaur Love - I watched the first episode, excited for Tonnam and Pepper, and found it charming with its low budget, pink-filtered tropey-ness. Except I quickly realized that this show was Actually Bad. The framing and blocking were often a big question mark to me. The pink filter and the background music got annoying quickly. The acting was subpar. At some point in episode 2 I started questioning if they ever even did more than one take per scene. There was a panning shot involving a mirror where the crew is just fully visible in the reflection?? Suffice it to say that I dropped this show like a hot potato when episode 3 very suddenly and very graphically had a side character self-harm. Squicked me out like nothing before, moving on!

11 A bad show that you kept watching because you were horny

I mentioned this already but I'm on the aro/ace-spectrum (...somewhere, don't ask me specifics lol) so I don't really watch shows for horny or eyecandy reasons. If I don't vibe with the characters or dynamics then I won't even perceive them as sexy, to be honest.

12 A bad show that you kept watching because of that one character

Why R U (the og Thai one), I guess? Everyone who's seen it probably knows that the production and filming suffered because of Covid so I wouldn't hesitate to call this show bad on that basis. I set out to watch it because I wanted to see more of Zee Pruk's acting, in another role, after having seen Cutie Pie. And Fighter ended up being most of the reason I stuck around till the end. The nuanced struggle with his own sexuality was so well-portrayed. Tutor is a very memorable character as well! And I'm entirely 🥰 about Hwa, she just perfectly fits this character archetype that I will always, without fail, completely adore.

21 The show that disappointed you the most

Most of the time, I either don't have big expectations or I let go of them quickly enough once I get a vibe for where a given show is going. The closest thing to 'disappointment' would then probably be all the shows that I kept seeing being recommended and hyped but that didn't leave a lasting impression on me after watching, like KinnPorsche, Love Mechanics, Manner of Death. None of these are bad OR disappointing and there's things I genuinely enjoyed and liked in them but ultimately I just didn't Get why they're so popular. I'm sure part of it is to do with me not having been around to follow along on a week-to-week basis but watching them long after they were done airing, basically in a vacuum. But alas!

Don't get me wrong but I'm genuinely confused why Jimin is mot doing any activities like other members. All the members are preparing for solo album and doing other works. But Jimin is only working on his album and nothing else. If we look their solo activities since announcement.

JK - he doesn't do many activities but things he does is pretty large scale. L&R MV + making + recording. Most charted somg by k soloist on BB. Performed on fifa stage - first Korean to perform on a WC, #2 debut and many locals fell for him lol.

RM - attended a museum activity, sexy nukim, WKorea with hobi, performed with balking tiger, podcast + interview, Pharrell interview + photoshoot, now host for a show.

Hobi - listening party something no members did ever lol, Lola + BTB + interviews, radio talk shows, crush collab, IU's pallet, crush interview, Zico interview.

Jin - Multiple movie premiers, Chef baek episodes, yesterday's liquor show, running man, CP concert performance, Youngji interview, interview with an old man idk his name, GQ top 10 things

Tae - ITS with wooga squad, movie premieres, Celine event, Vogue shoot, Paris schedule 2, dj radio show.

Suga - That That+ performance with Psy+ BTB, NCB event, dropping dropdead pics of insta which is definitely some photoshoots for a collab going behind scenes lol.

* Didn't included ost of vocal line because it was while they were performing and active as a group and didn't had any behind scenes.

Jimin - literally nothing and I wonder why. Is he not intereste in other activities apart from performing ? And not comfortable on appearing for those event. He's working for his album with various producers but that's it and rest members are doing the same, we saw how many collabs RM has on Indigo. Apart from all of these he's not active on sm too. Not even posting a single pic or message. I just miss him so much and not even getting to see him even as part of work.

I can see why you are “genuinely” confused Anon. You seem to have Jimin mixed up with some other person you think is Jimin...

Especially since you proceeded to compare him to every other member in the group as if lauding their accomplishments like it’s some sort of competition between the members... what’s the point of that? why does your mind even go there?

You sort of answered yourself right away in your third sentence:

"But Jimin is only working on his album and nothing else."

But in case you really are “genuinely” confused... I wonder how you got so mixed up about who Jimin is? Maybe you do not pay enough attention to Jimin... here let me help you figure it out:

Jimin has said repeatedly that he is working hard on his album. Over the last five or six months we’ve seen the pictures from so many award-winning producers and musicians who are excited to share that they are working with Jimin.

I am assuming Jimin’s involvement is very time consuming and leaves very little time to travel across the globe to see fashion shows and such. He is probably feeling a little time crunch with that thing called military service looming and we know Jimin is a perfectionist... well, the rest of us do but you probably are not aware Anon because you were confusing Jimin with someone else.... anyway... Jimin being the perfectionist is cooking up some great music for us and is laser focused and has chosen not to do any one-off collabs. Any collaborations he’s done he is keeping under wraps until he is ready to release his album. Why hold that against him?

I understand you "miss" him but he’s not been totally absent... he’s had some time to get out and about...

During June/July/August 2022:

Jimin went to watch a few soccer matches with Hobi and with Sung Woon. He also went to see his friend Sung Woon’s performance in a stage musical one evening.

One thing Jimin is not: an attention seeker. Crowds are not his thing. He tried to keep it lowkey but alas, people can’t help themselves and take pics and post them on social media. People have no chill when it comes to that. Red carpets are work for him. He obviously chooses not to do them. No red carpets mean no premiers.

Jimin made a side-trip to Chicago for Lollapalooza to support his Hobi-hyung. While there he also took in other Lolla acts including TXT. Maybe you missed that too. He's living the life, Anon.

On to Los Angeles for his work and while there he hung out with Benny Blanco amongst others. Perhaps they even worked together again? We’ll find out eventually!

He also went to the beach at sunset again while in L.A. Jimin loves him some U.S. west coast beach at sunset (I wonder why).

On September 1 Jimin was with Jungkook on JK’s birthday. Remember JK's little smirk and giggle on HIS WeLive when Jin asked him if Jimin visited him that day and JK said yes, he did. They probably reminisced about that west coast beach sunset...I KNOW you couldn’t have missed the pic Jimin posted... but maybe you did.

Then Jimin did a few WeLives for us, I think three of them, spread out between then and his birthday on Oct. 13. So he's made himself visible when he's in the right frame of mind.

One thing that has become obvious... Jimin requires structure in his life. He flat out said going to work every day was something he needs to do... “it feels like clocking out, not clocking in” when he gets to work. It lines up with his near obsession about his workout regimen. During the pandemic he tearfully told us he wasn’t sure what he was supposed to be doing all that time. The man needs a schedule to function.

Another thing that’s quite obvious. Jimin is not gonna share anything he doesn’t want to. Except that he loves to eat but is constantly trying to maintain his weight/physique. And also he just lays around the house. Oh and also there are five moon tattoos running down his back now... see’em when you can he says... that boy...

Yes, he’s an idol and he’s stated he is not a solo artist, he is part of a group. So this period is a real growing time for Jimin. Out of all the members, I believe Jimin will show us some things that even HE had no idea he could do. I am waiting patiently for him to be ready to show us.

So I hope that made things less confusing for you, Anon. Any “outside” work that has nothing to do with is album is probably non-existent because that is what Jimin has chosen for himself. If you are still “genuinely” confused about that then I will just chalk it up to you choosing to be a “genuine” douchebag of a person and I hope you eventually grow out of that mindset.

I sent a very similar ask to bird-inacage, so sorry if you see this twice. But I have been looking for someone to flail at this about and I thought of you both because I like your SandRay takes! I was thinking about the two clips from next week's preview and also the fight in Sand's apartment from the trailer and I have a theory for how I would like it to go down. What I am hoping will happen (but I am doubtful because when has this show ever given Ray and Sand the least painful option?) is: After Sand shuts down Ray's friendship request after he and Mew enter their boyfriend era, and then Ray has his little jealous fit at the party, Ray goes to Sand's place to try to talk him into maintaining their current dynamic with the intention of keeping Sand on the hook, because the way Sand treats him makes him feel good. Maybe he even whips out that "If you're my friend you must take care of me in every way" line again? Sand finally draws a line with the "Do you think I have no dignity?" line from the OST and lays out that he wants a boyfriend or nothing. Which leads to Ray having another jealousy/entitlement-fuelled meltdown and hitting back that he doesn't want to be Sand's boyfriend and his life is going down the toilet since he met Sand anyway and honestly probably calls him a whore again because he is currently committed to being The Worst. Anyway, as painful as that would be, I hope it happens before Mew inevitably drops him, because it would give us a) Sand having a backbone, which I have missed and b) a nice ironic foundation for when Sand's ex eventually shows up and Ray gets to have a full-bore jealous meltdown over it and hopefully actually take a good hard look at his feelings and choices for once.

As far as your theory goes: yes, I definitely think the SandRay apartment fight will be easier to move past the sooner it happens. I'm kind of at odds with myself, because while I find Ray's possessiveness of Sand very toxic, it also makes for a lot of juicy drama AND the potential for him to finally come to terms with why he feels so possessive at all. At the same time, I desperately need Sand to put his foot down like you said. It seems like Sand has been fighting for Ray this entire time, but I want Ray to fight for Sand.

What this all boils down to is whether or not Ray sees Sand as more than a distraction. I'd argue that he does, based on all of the development we have seen between the two of them thus far that goes beyond Sand's caretaking behavior. There's a foundation there, and I think that's easy to overlook with this whole RayMew cloud hanging over us. In other words: it's easy to believe Ray doesn't care about Sand now that he has Mew, but beneath all of his arrogance and selfishness, I think Ray does care. And I'm gonna go with that until I'm proven wrong, for my own sanity, haha.

Your theory makes me wonder where the last bathtub scene fits in?:

Because they appear to be in an okay-place here, holding hands and all, so I wonder if we'll see that before the big apartment fight? Hopefully it comes after. And the 'I won't let you walk away' scene at the school...I go back and forth between thinking that scene comes before the apartment fight or after.

All in all, I really like that theory and think we could see a sequence of events that follows that pretty closely, though knowing the writers they will give us maximum heartbreak. We are not safe from part 4/4--everything bad seems to go down there. Ray will likely run after Sand next ep as soon as he thinks his hold on Sand is slipping, but that'll only lead to more arguments between them. It's the perfect opportunity to Sand to stand up for himself like he did in Ep4.

Finally, what's the deal with Ray calling Sand a whore anyway? I understand it's a dirty insult, but it's ironic coming from him, who offered to pay Sand to sleep with him (which he very clearly refused) and has been the one instigating their sexual relationship ever since. But maybe that's the point.

Anyways, I love reading theories, particularly hopeful ones (I need some of that right now lol), so thank you for thinking of me! :)

Guess who's favorite noona is addicted to BTS Island: In The SEOM? tbh I wrote this because the game was under maintenance and I was bored lmao

"Says here that you hate grass."

"I don't hate grass."

"Then why are did you say, ugh?"

Skeptical and slightly peeved dark brown orbs peered at your phone screen. “Hm.” A small frown. “I don’t have any particular feelings towards grass, though.”

“Maybe you made a disapproving face at grass on set before, a staff saw you and thought it was so funny that they added to the game.”

Min Yoongi made his best disapproving face at you. He would never admit it but sweet as SUGA was good at those funny facial expressions that he insisted weren’t only for laughs. You still snickered though. Oops. “How am I supposed to remember every expression I make?”

“Maybe don’t look so disdainfully at grass then.”

“When was the last time you touched grass?” he grumbled in his deep voice, going right back to his phone and vegetative position.

“Look at you, using the younguns’ lingo!”

Those cat-like eyes narrowed into slits. He decided not to grace you with a response to that. He didn’t have one. Probably because he had no idea what you meant, but asking what the lingo was would surely out himself. Therefore, the genius producer meow meow did the clever, strategic move of changing the subject. He did not, however, miss your triumphant grin (that earned you an extra disapproving eye squint). He chose to ignore it.

Yoongi hummed and ticked his eyebrow to your phone. “Do you like the OST?” he asked offhandedly.

“Of course! It reminds me of MapleStory. I always play with the sound on,” you chirped, flopping down next to him on the bed as he grunted in mock discomfort. “I usually have the sound off because most background music is too happy for me.”

Yoongi gave you one of his small smiles that he did when he agreed but still wanted to question. “Too happy?”

“Yeah, sometimes I’m not cheerful, okay, okay? I like this better. It’s soothing and, when you really listen to it, it’s quite layered and intricate. There’s even a sound in there that reminds me of cicadas. Reminiscent of your usual style, too. Ah, but, you should be careful. Lots of game companies are going to ask to collaborate with you now!”

He laughed softly and, from the tone and the bashfulness, you could see he was very pleased. It was both what he wanted to hear and that he could see that you meant it. When you enjoyed things, you always had a lot to say. “Couldn’t be too cheerful since you might be annoyed after being unable to complete a level – wait, what level are you on?!”

Your phone flipped as you tried to squirm away from Yoongi’s wide eyes once he finally registered all the information on your screen, looking quite like his BTS Island: In The SEOM game avatar. So far you had been incredibly impressed by the game developers’ attention to detail, from the avatar expressions and movements, the accurate dialogue, even the aesthetic color choices. Oh, and can’t forget those spoony-looking hands and little nubbins for legs that hung in the air when they laid down. Clearly a lot of research and efforts had been put into it. You would be ready to discuss all of it if it wasn’t for the fact that you were sputtering, trying to explain yourself as the front door opened, and you heard heavy things dropping.

“Hey, hey, have you downloaded the game, hyung, I set up my island and everything, let me show you and – oh, noona! You’re here already!”

You grinned at Jeon Jungkook and his wild, slightly messy workout hair. Wow, those big sparkly brown eyes really were the biggest peepers of all. How long had the game designers been staring into the Golden Maknae’s eyes? Couldn’t blame them, though. He looked a bit like a black fabric mountain in his loose clothes as he bounced over, clutching his phone to load up the colorful opening screen.

“I’m about level seventy, what about–?”

Yoongi grunted.

Aw shit.

“She’s over level two hundred.”

“You’re over level WHAT?” Jungkook’s booming volume filled up the entire bedroom. The Golden Maknae had some powerful lungs on him. Needed them for those high notes. “How?! I thought you had a job!”

“I do have a job, excuse you–”

“What you have is an addiction.”

Jungkook had now taken your phone. “You have so many stars! You haven’t even done the story!”

“Er…”

“Why is your island so naked? You need some decorations.”

“Decorations cost money.”

“I have lots of decorations, look.”

“Yes, but you also have money.”

“I can give you money.”

“You are not being my suga daddy in In The SEOM. Besides, I want to kick your ass without money. Ohohoho, I knew you would spend more time decorating. Aww, Hoseok looks so cute in those sunglasses you put him in!”

“That’s not allowed, noona! You said you’re good at puzzle games!”

“This isn’t a competition, you two. This is a healing game…”

“Maybe you should try harder, Jungkookie~!” You gasped dramatically as you explored his account on his phone. “Your future wife is in your club? Did you peel apart perilla leaves for her? Is that how it happened? ‘Today a perilla leaf, tomorrow marriage.’ Gosh, I told you that was dangerous!”

“Noona, you!”

At this point Yoongi had given up on his bed, getting up with a sigh as you and Jungkook began to roll around laughing and bantering about each other’s islands. Later, Yoongi would tell you that it looked both like a fight and as if you were trying to strip reach other, so nothing to worry about. Per usual. He watched the debacle with fond amusement.

“You used to be quiet,” Yoongi chuckled.

“Well, you used to be available,” you called accusingly from the bed with your legs around Jungkook’s waist as he pinned your arms to your sides. “Then you discovered Pilates and started practicing English.”

“You could practice English with me.”

“I know plenty of English,” you wheezed, yanking up the black shirt. Jungkook yelped as your bare thighs touched his skin and you rolled him back over to be on top, only to be lifted far too easily. Damnnit! You let out your own yelp. “Such as–”

“If you sing Butter one more time, I’m getting a gag.”

“You don’t own a gag, hyung?” Jungkook questioned with a confused expression as you flailed about in the air like a caught (super) tuna.

“Why would I own a gag?” Yoongi sighed exasperatedly, eyes and mouth thinned into lines. Actually, there was a slight upturn to his lips. Hm, quite like a cat.

“I dunno, you kinda seem like you’d own a gag – ah! No bitey!”

“What are you reading online, hah…?”

“It’s under maintenance…”

“Aw, man, what now?”

Those big peepers looked your way.

“You looking a lil sus…”

stillbirth - alice glass as a warning, this song is very loud and abrasive, but it's the ultimate catharsis song. if you're familiar with her story, then i'm sure you can piece it together. it really helps sometimes.

your love (déjà vu) - glass animals i know many of my mutuals are already on the glass animals wave so the propaganda is unnecessary, but this song is like my last pre-pandemic happy memory lmao. i was so hyped for this song to drop, i literally sat outside the class i was supposed to be in listening to it over and over until the radio station that debuted it moved onto another song. that was february 2020 🥴

This fucking battle needs some fucking Hopes And Dreams-level shit. I'm sorry but to put on my FULLY NEGATIVE HAT FOR A SEC, this entire sequence would land 10000% better if the music was good. But I literally didn't even notice the music the entire time? I think it's on a very very long loop so there's some fun brassy horns but you gotta wait like two minutes for them to come in.

I've talked shit about the music in P4G before because truly P3P's OST fucked, but also THIS SEQUENCE SUFFERS A LOT FOR HAVING MEDIOCRE MUSIC.

I hope someone eventually mods it to have a fucking banger or two.

This part is pretty fucking great. Big fan.

I guess what I'm curious about is was this boss in the original version..... but wait, yeah, she has to be to explain everything.

Now that I've seen the whole sequence, I'm gonna be a negative nancy for a moment.

This whole ending is, uh, weird? It feels weird. Like, I almost think I prefer the ending with Ameno-Sagiri to this one because it felt more impactful after fighting Adachi. It feels like the game keeps answering the same questions over and over since then. I appreciate getting a final answer on why the three folks had Persona/TV powers, but also... It feels like....

The gas attendant did it! Gasp!

Also, like with Marie, there was this inorganic element to her whole plotline. But in the end, I kind of liked that!

But with Izanami, it feels tacked on in the same way but without the justification. The answer to the mystery is very "oh." Rather than "OOOOOOH" which we all know Persona can do.

I think that's what I'm chafing against. Having the history explained in a lecture is totally fine. but when I got that lecture, I was like "ha i bet this is important!" and then I completely forgot that lecture because no one fucking brings it up again!

I am frustrated because I feel like this game does know what the fuck foreshadowing and story structure are, but it totally dropped the ball. It's to a point I wonder if like... something was lost in translation? Is something missing here?

Currently reading: I’ll be honest, I don’t do much reading, but I did post that hentai(?) earlier and it was nice.

Like I said, it has H scenes just randomly dropped in that have nothing to do with the plot, but it’s a nice read. Sadly, it is not yuri.

Other than digital media, the closest thing I have to reading was my Exapunks Zine to learn how to code/play the game.

Currently watching: …I don’t watch things on the TV. Like, the last thing I watched was the bad batch months ago but otherwise? I don’t watch movies or tv shows, just YouTube really. The thing that I’ve been watching most consistently on YT though is vids on Deceive Inc., which seems like a really fun game!

Current obsession: I was gonna say pins, but I can’t really say that after reblogging over 100 Hex Maniac posts in a row. Guilty as charged.

i had to reread n edit this before posting like i was going over an essay jesus christ ((tristamp spoilers))

tldr; i was honestly disappointed but i still don't think it was completely awful + i hope if they do a 2nd season it's better *wants to see milly*.... fuck the director though

EDIT!!! 2nd season was confirmed so you can ignore the points where i question if it will happen lol

EDIT 2 actually idt i'll watch the 2nd season... for reasons that just hit me so.... + fuck night*w as well

most of this was written before the finale eek

the major problems were that the pacing was soooooo weird n some of the changes (both story wise and design wise) they made were questionable esp towards the latter half

my positive points:

i do still think individual eps at the first half were really good

i loved the animation + how they used colors

the backgrounds are cool

the artstyle shift in wolfwood's flashback was cool

i've always been "ok" abt vashwood honestly (sorry) but i will acknowledge they were very yaoiful here. i saw a person who didn't ship vashwood say the ep in tristamp where they literally just met made them ship it which was really funny bc how did that change your mind so fast

i'm ngl the milly + eriks name drops made me *JAWDROP* but that's something that only matters to ppl who watched/read the ogs first

my negative points (uh oh):

white washed wolfwood (+ his skintone is soo inconsistent in merch)

they gave vash no room to breathe n he doesn't get big sillay moments after ep 3

^ this is true for every character except i guess roberto? more on roberto later

^^^ goes with the previous too points but it felt like they were way too focused on the drama n sadness without enough (long lasting) happy or hopeful moments to contrast or balance it out overall - to the point were the characterization of our main cast suffered for it bc there wasn't enough there with them to make that properly work. and THEN the silly moments ended up suffering too bc they start feeling out of place. the drama beats kept happening one after the other at breakneck speed without breaks, messing up the pacing as well (i can kinda blame this at least partially on the fact they only had 12 eps when the og was 26 eps but i've watched plenty of 12 ep series with great pacing so i don't really know what happened here?)

i disagreed with this at first, but the lore with vash being front-loaded really did hurt the story a bit in the long run. obviously they did still spread the full details out over the course of the show but it was :\

specific to "the running man"- it's my fav ep tbh but it was strange how all the townsfolk were partying w the nebraskas with no indication they'd arrest them after they did so much damage n vash didn't even get to fix the damaged plant?? so why were they so joyous when the initial problem wasn't solved?

roberto.... was such a weird character... he managed to be both a dick n a guy w no personality, he was there to give exposition + attempt to be funny? n then die. also the marketing staff fucking hates him he's never in any merch wtf ((edited after the finale: well now we know he wasn't meant to replace milly (i had a whole paragraph complaining abt that lol) + now i feel like they added him just to kill someone other than wolfwood off))

i can't speak much on elendria bc i had so much trouble reading trimax forever ago that i never retained anything abt her other than she's trans, but everything involving her in tristamp felt strange/ like it didn't work. i have essentially same feeling about livio here. they threw legato to the side??

what the fuck was the thing with the plants towards the end. it just hit me what the hell

minor nitpicks:

i miss the old anime's ost :( tristamp's ost isn't bad by any means n there are tracks that i really like it's just idk man. especially with the the op song, i couldn't get myself to not skip the op SORRY. could you imagine how hype it would've been if a new rendition of H.T. or NO-BEAT started playing

i'm fine with stamp vash's design (blasphemous i know) but man would'n've one of his og coat designs worked well in 3d? i feel like it would've ((added after the finale: the new coat did look nice in black + they brought back his old hair in the last ep tho so. MAYBE... IN SEASON 2.... CLASSIC COAT....? *delusional*))

i know y'all are gonna ask "what is [poll option]??" so i've provided short explanations & examples below the cut:

meditation/zen is music that they play in spas or sometimes therapy offices that are supposed to make you more relaxed. they're some sort of slow hum that make a repetitive rhythm. it's supposed to be background for mediations. if you search up meditation music you will get 271374 different youtube videos that give you the exact same song

showtunes are songs originally written for musicals, either theater or films. you can't generalize every single showtune into one category but a lot of the mainstream ones (wicked, heathers, dear evan hansen, be more chill, etc.) all kind of sound similar. i can't figure out how to describe this.

by "marching band music," i mean the sound of a marching band playing any song. i know marching bands play different types of music, but mostly covers of pop music (in my very limited experience, anyway).

self-explanatory. hamilton sucks

dsmp stands for dream survival multiplayer. which means some guy named dream hosted a survival multiplayer on minecraft. i don't know why spotify made a fucking dsmp genre. i don't know what the fuck they were thinking. but the dsmp genre has music such as lovejoy, wilbur soot, corpse, alec benjamin, lemon demon, the undertale ost, and the song heat waves by glass animals.

bedroom pop is music with bare-bones production that tends to be sort of lo-fi and feel like it was recorded on a tape. they have "analog synth," although im not sure what that means. bedroom pop includes pinkpanthress, clairo, cavetown, girl in red, jack stauber, joji, khai dreams, etc.

midwest emo originated in the american midwest and features kinda shouty vocals that sound like the singer received no vocal training and guitar-heavy instrumentals. they also have incredibly long titles like "i shotgunned a beer then did a line of coke and went to bed (i miss you)" (i made that one up). bands/artists include modest mouse, american football, death cab for cutie, braid, and sometimes bands like fall out boy can be categorized as midwest emo.

dreampunk is vaporwave-ish and focuses on ambience. it uses synths and electronic instruments. sometimes it'll sample sounds from the city, east asian cinema, anime, etc. it's often used in unreality/weirdcore/backrooms/liminal space videos. bands/artists include 2 8 1 4, t e l e p a t h, hong kong express, wosX (aka Wolfenstein OS X), and nmesh.

dubstep is electronic dance music with syncopated music patterns, notable basslines, occasional vocals, and other things i cannot think of right now. dubstep songs typically have a "bass drop." it was popular in clubs around the mid-2000s (and maybe now, i don't go to clubs). bands/artists include skrillex, james blake, burial, knife party, etc.

noisecore is exactly what it fucking sounds like. it's noise. it's also referred to as eyepopping noisecore. it's just loud noise.

This one is extremely difficult to decide on, because there are so many I like! I am cheating and giving several answers, sorry:

Ludwig, Malenia, Gael, Nameless King, Maria, Midir, Friede

5. "What are your top 3 weapons and why?"

Moonlight Greatsword, because every version looks great and plays enjoyably to me. In the games where you can adjust your build, I usually end up switching from a quality build to an int build later on, because I enjoy it so much.

Ludwig's Holy Blade, because you can PUT MORE SWORD ON YOUR SWORD. The Tsubasa Kazanari of weapons.

Moonveil, because it's like the katana version of the moonlight greatsword and is just extremely fun. I know some people think it's a basic choice because of how early you can get it if you're using a guide, but I still enjoy it.

Honorable mentions

-The Black Knight Sword, because I had one drop very early in Dark Souls 1, the first fromsoft game I played, and I ended using it for pretty much my entire first playthrough. It also returns in 2 and 3, and in 3 it was also my main weapon for almost everything.

-Malenia's Katana, because it's extremely cool that you can use the bonus boss' weapon AND their most powerful move with it.

-Threaded Cane, because I started with it and used it for most of my first Bloodborne playthrough, and its whip form reminds me of Airgetlam.

-Friede's Ice Scythes and The Burial Blade, because scythe go swish swish, dess.

14. "Who is the most underrated boss in your opinion?"

Bed of Chaos.

Just kidding, I can't really think of a boss that people hate but I really like. I don't really see people talk about Martyr Logarius much, and I think his fight is extremely good! Also maybe Rennala from Elden Ring? I'm not sure what opinions are on her fight.

I've played all of them (including DLC) except for Sekiro, and platinumed/100%'d them (twice for some games because I did it over again for Scholar, Remaster, and PS5 Remake). I'm happy to explain in a follow up if anyone has a burning desire to know why I placed one in a certain rank. I enjoy all of them a lot though!

WYAAN for this one.

Google Docs is where I write. AO3 is where I get my inspiration. Grammarly (the free one) is how I double check grammar stuff.

(26) Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue?

Only dialogue. I'm not sure I could tell any sort of meaningful story with writing alone if I didn't have dialogue.

(27) How long did it take to write [insert fic]? Describe the process.

Crystal: I started working on the planning stages fall of last year. A year later, we're at 17 chapters and counting. I assume it'll probably take me two more years to finish it, but we'll see when we get there.

(28) Does anyone read your fics before you post them? If so, who?

Yep! Weather Boy (aka my husband) is my beta reader.

(29) What songs would be (or are) on a playlist for [insert fic]? Explain your choices if you want!

WYAAN: So WYAAN actually has a soundtrack in the works on Spotify. It's not finished by any means, but have a look:

Some songs are just character descriptions, some will be diegetic, and some are just there to set the mood.

(30) Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?

Probably the little dirty talk fic between Karin and Suigetsu (warning: Explicit). I hadn't written for either of them before, so making believable dirty talk between the two really made me stretch my writer muscles.

It didn't really change anything with my writing other than make me a little more confident.

(31) What’s your ideal fic length to write?

Whatever amount of words will complete the story I want to tell, though longer is better.

(32) What’s your ideal fic length to read?

Long as balls. Give me the 50k+ fics all day.

(33) If you write chaptered fics, what’s your ideal chapter length to write? Is it different from your ideal chapter length to read?

For Crystal, I generally aim for 3k - 4k.

For WYAAN, it's closer to 6k - 7k, though that's because I have more characters to wrangle.

I'd say it's about the same as what I look for. I tend to squint when a story has 10k words with 20 chapters.

(34) What aspects of your writing are inspired by/taken from your real life?

A lot of details about my OCs - personality traits, physical details, life details, interests, etc. For example: Tori and Holly wearing glasses and being interested in creativity, Mariana being a theatre kid, and Nezumi being socially awkward all come from me.

(35) What aspects of your writing are completely unlike your real life?

Sadly, I am not a ninja IRL, and so all the stuff about "jutsus" and "epic battles" aren't real.

Sure wish I was a ninja though.
