[ another day, another mission. the days are all blurring together now, and every day a little part of him yearns to go home. he misses the beach, he misses his world, and most of all misses his parents and his siblings. what he wouldn’t give to see them again... ]
[ it’s another prisoner rescue today, apparently. the galra seem to have no end to the cells on their ships, and the fact that some of the prisoners kept around are nothing more than experiments makes lance’s blood boil. the sooner the galra empire is destroyed, the better. ]
[ he grips his bayard firmly, firing off a couple of blasts at the locking mechanism for another cell. he slips in once the door opens, lowering his bayard to show he’s a friendly. it’s then that he catches sight of who is here. ]
[ lance would know that face anywhere. eyepatch or no, that is without a doubt his mother. ]           [ his bayard dissolves into the smaller version, his arms dropping to his sides. he swallows thickly, clearly confused. ] ...Mamá?

Lonely By: Benny Blanco and Justin Bieber
*When the War finally ends and most of Team Voltron has gone their separate ways… Lance stayed back with his family for a few years, going through the rough healing process that he knows everyone else is also facing. He mainly stayed out on the beach, taking in the salty sea air and watching the waves come forth and leave with the growing tide. He missed the team, he missed his friends, he missed… Well he missed Keith too… But he would never admit this out loud, deciding to plaster on a smile and wait for the meet up they have every year at Allura’s statue. They’ll talk about all they’ve been doing, Pidge inventing something new, Hunk and Shiro dealing with Diplomatic missions, Coran helping with New Altea, and Keith.. Keith’s been helping with relief missions along with the Blade, helping planets with supplies and medicine. But what has Lance been doing? Hiding away on his farm claiming that someone has to take care of the wrecked Agriculture.. But really, he’s just a coward who is too scared to step back on a ship.. he does miss it though, the feeling of flying through the air with blue or red, side by side with his friends and long time crush…*
Lance: *walking along the shoreline, he waits to go back to the house that he and his family have been living in getting lost in his own Thoughts. His mind raced on what he would say at the Team get together and just what’s been happening since the war ended* Everybody knows my name… *he looks at the ocean blue, his eyes filled with a longing that no one could explain but himself* But somethin’ ‘bout it still feels strange. *He absentmindedly rubs the marks that will forever remain on his cheeks* Like lookin’ in a mirror, tryna steady yourself and seein’ somebody else…. *his mind flashes to when he had to say goodbye to Allura, the heartbreaking feeling that crashed through the whole team when they realized she was gone. Back to when they all first got on the castle ship and met the Last surviving alteans and suddenly became the ‘saviors’ of the universe.* And everything is not the same now, It feels like our lives have changed. Maybe when I’m older, it’ll all calm down? *he runs a frustrated hand through his hair* But it’s killen’ me now…
*Fast forward to the day before the team get together, Lance stands in his room with a bag packed and ready to go. He knew he’d have to leave soon, get on a ship and fly to New Altea to see his friends and hear about their adventures, or atleast pretend like he’s listening. He knows that he wants to join, feels the jolt of excitement from wanting to ask, to say he’s ready to go back and help… He’s been hyping himself up, but he knows he’ll chicken out, always overthinking and being paranoid and insecure…*
Lance: *he walks to the bathroom to check his appearance once more, fixing his hair for the millionth time* What if you had it all, but nobody to call? *he sighs and leans against the sink, staring down at the porcelain bowl like its the most precious thing in the world* Maybe then, they’d know me… *he loses himself in thought once more, not remembering he was on a schedule* ‘Cause I’ve had everything, but they’re never listening. And that’s just fuckin’ lonely..
Lance’s mom: Leandro! Vamos! You’re going to miss your flight! *She walks up the creaky steps to the bathroom only to see her son lost in thought, staring down at the sink still and sighed* Mijo, it’s time to go… *she spoke softly to not startle him*
Lance: *looks up slowly and smiles at his Mamá* Ok ok, let me grab my stuff and I’ll be out of your hair for the next couple of days. *he joked lightly, walking past her to grab his duffle and went back to peck her on the cheek* I’ll see you when I get back Mamá..
Lance’s Mom: *She pulled her youngest son into a tight hug* Are you going to tell them this time?
Lance: *he tenses up but tries to Laugh it off* Tell them what? What are you talking about?
Lance’s Mom: *She pulls away from the hug and gave him a knowing look* That you want to go back up there, and that you want to help Keith with his missions.
Lance: *He stared at his Mother, shocked that she knew anything about that* How-
Lance’s Mom: I’m your Mamá, and I know my children like the back of my hand. Don’t chicken out this year, Mijo. You’ve been moping around this farm for far too long.
Lance: *He gave a soft smile and pulled his mother back into a tight hug* Are you sure it’s Ok?
Lance’s Mom: Of course! Now, you better hurry before you miss the flight to New Altea. And tell everyone that the McClain family says hi for us.
Lance: *He released the other and quickly pecks her cheek* Gracias Mamá! And I will! *he runs down the stairs, hearing his mother let out a soft laugh as he goes. He runs out the door and to his old beat up jeep (Yes I’m giving Lance a blue Jeep don’t judge me-) and quickly drives to the Garrison*
Lance’s Mom: *She watches her son from the second story window drive off, sadly smiling and praying* I can tell he’s so lonely….
Lance’s Dad: *He finally walks up behind his wife and holds her in his arms* Lonely…
*Lance leaves earth, watching his home planet leave from his view as he felt a mixture of anxiety and excitement pump through him. But as the time passed he felt himself drown in his own thoughts again, questions like ‘What if they don’t need me?’ Or ‘What if Keith doesn’t want me to come..?’*
Lance: *he was by himself in the seating area, no one around to bug him as he drowned in his thoughts* Everybody knows my past now, Like my house was always made of glass… *he stares at the stars as they pass Kerberos* And maybe that's the price you pay for peace and fame at an early age. *he felt memories cloud his mind, thinking back to when clone shiro yelled at him and how he walked out, holding back his tears as he went.* And everybody saw me sick.. *flashes to when everyone pushed him aside and basically ignored him* And it felt like no one gave a shit… *More memories flood through his mind as they grow closer to New Altea. Back to when he would get berated and criticized for every little thing he did* They criticized the things I did as an Idiot kid… *he lets out a shaky sigh while pulling his knees to his chest, trying to shake the feelings of loneliness* What if I had it all, but nobody to call? *he felt the tears beginning to sting his eyes* Maybe then, they’ll know me… *He sat up properly as they entered the planet's atmosphere* Cause I’ve had everything, but no one’s listening. *he wipes his eyes and plasters on his best ‘I’m ok’ smile* And that’s just fucking lonely. *He grabs his bag and begins walking out* I’m so lonely… *steps off the ship and breathes in the crisp air* Lonely…
*When the former blue paladin steps off the ship, he’s talked by two figures, one small and one giant. He knew who was hugging him which made him burst into laughter. Hunk and Pidge both hugged him tight, not letting go until they’re approached by Shiro who pulls Lance into his own tight hug. The older man said his ‘Hello’s’ and the other two were talking about how they missed the Cuban which made his heart swell with a familiar warmth. But what took his breath away was the sight of Keith, the half-galaran stood tall with a very familiar smirk plastered on his face as he strode forward to wrap Lance up in his arms*
Keith: *he held onto Lance longer than the others, nuzzling his face in the crook of the others neck* Hey Sharpshooter..
Lance: *he flushed pink and wrapped his arms around Keith’s neck, breathing in his scent* Hey Samurai-
Pidge: *they Jokingly gags* Alright lovebirds that’s enough!
Hunk: *he elbows Pidge and chuckles* Hey, cut them some slack Pidge. They haven’t seen each other for a few months.
Lance: *he tries to give a quick remark but is stopped but Keith placing a kiss on his neck* Keith, b-buddy?
Keith: *he hums softly in acknowledgement that he’s listening but doesn’t loosen his grip around Lance*
Lance: *he sighs and gives in, letting out a soft laugh and feels a warm smile cross his face* Later, we need to talk..
Keith: *he hums again and loosens his grip some* Ok..
Lance’s Thoughts: I guess I didn’t have anything to worry about..

You Two Are A Handful (Klance Fic)
Hello hello! This is a small drabble set in the Ancients AU created by @taytei The idea popped into my head and I thought it would be fun to write! Thank you TayTei for this wonderful AU!
The waves crashed along the shore as the seagulls flew over head. Krolia could smell the salt in the air, it made her nose twitch, she let out a small sneeze. The humidity and all around moisture was something she was still getting use to. She’d have to get use to it considering how frequent Keith wants to visit. Minus the sinus irritation, these frequent visits to the shore were a welcome reprieve and they made Keith so happy.
She had been flying for about twenty minutes when Keith started to get a little restless inside his carrier.
“Myshka, we’re almost there.” Keith popped his head out and glanced at her. “How much longer?” He whined. “Not much longer.” Keith snuggled back into his carrier and Krolia smiled.
Keith was always impatient when they were on their way to visit Lance. And she knew it was only going to get worse as he got older. The bond that he and Lance formed was strong and Krolia was more than happy to see her little myshka take to someone so fiercely.
But, he was also a five year old with a slight temper and currently his patience was waning as he started to squirm around in his carrier. “Keith,” Krolia started to pat the top of his head to soothe him.
“Maaaa, are we there yet?”
Krolia chuckled, “Almost myshka.”About five minutes later, the cove where they met up with Lance and his mother came into view. Krolia tapped the top of Keith’s head and pointed towards the cove. Keith’s eyes lit up with anticipation and started to fidget with excitement.
Krolia touched down on the soft warm sand, making her way towards the middle of the cove where she could see Lance and Rosa lounging. Keith was practically hanging out of his carrier at this point, itching to make a run towards Lance.
“Whoa, Keith!” Krolia lifted him, untangling his feet from the carrier straps and sat him down on the beach. Not a moment later he took off towards the young mer. Krolia could see his wings flutter in an attempt to make his journey faster. A smile flitted across her face, Keith’s determination to see Lance filled her with happiness.
“Lance!” Keith shouted and tackled him into the sand. “Hi Keith!” Lance giggled.
“Good morning Rosa” Krolia greeted as she walked up to the group. Rosa looked up, “Morning Krolia, how was your trip here?”
“Fine, minus my sinuses acting up.” She sneezed right after as proof.
Rosa laughed and gestured towards the spot next to her. “Come, sit. I brought goodies for you.”
While the mothers chatted and caught up with each other, Keith hopped off Lance and pulled something out of his satchel.
“I have something for you.” Keith held out his hand. In it laid a small pouch. “Here.” Keith pushed it towards Lance.
Lance smiled and his eyes were alight with curiosity, “What is it?”
“I’m not going to tell you! Open it!”
Lance took the small pouch and opened it, pouring the contents of it onto his open palm. Two small clip on stud earrings came out. He picked one up to examine it closely, “What is this stone?”
“It’s called opal.”
“Did you make these?”
“I helped! My mom did most of it but she taught me somethings and I’m the one who found the opal!” Keith beamed with pride at Lance.
“Whoa! These are so pretty!” Lance vibrated with happiness. “Mamá! Look at what Keith made me!” He held out the small earrings for her to see.
Rosa turned towards him and picked up the studs, “Wow, mijo. These are beautiful! Did you say thank you to Keith?”
“Thank you Keith!” Lance cheered towards Keith.
Keith smiled and a faint blush dusted his cheeks. “You’re welcome Lance.”
“Keith was so excited to give those to him.” Krolia whispered towards Rosa and she cooed at the sentiment.“Mijo, why don’t we put them on so you can wear them?”
“Yes mamá!” Lance scooted closer and she started to take off his old ear cuffs, replacing them with the new ones. “Ok, all done.” She gasped, “They look very nice mijo!”
Lance fluttered his ear fins at her, then to Keith flashing him a toothy grin. “I liked the opal because it is shiney like your tail.” Keith said shyly.
Lance threw his arms around Keith’s neck and pulled him into a hug. “I really really like them Keith!”
While the two boys played, Rosa gossiped about her shoal and its members. Krolia, though having never met any of them, found entertainment in her stories. The lives of mers seemed to be much more social and flamboyant than that of dragons.
“O guess what!” Lance shouted. “My tail fins got bigger! Look Keith!” He flapped his fins around. “I think they are bigger than your wings now!”
“What! No they aren’t!” Keith screeched back.
“Yes they are!” Lance crossed his arms and turned his nose up.
“No they aren’t!” Keith seethed back.
He stood up and clenched his fists. Shooting Lance a glare and then squeezing his eyes shut. He scrunched his nose and hunched his shoulders up to his ears in concentration. He started to vibrate slightly while Lance looked on with wide eyes.
Krolia and Rosa looked over from their conversation and noticed Keith standing up with his fists clenched. Krolia furrowed her brow in concern, “Keith?..Are you alright?”
A small POP rang through the air and Keith’s left wing sprouted an extra inch. Krolia’s mouth dropped open in surprise.
Not five seconds later, another small POP was heard and Keith’s right wing grew to match the other. He collapsed to his knees and was breathing heavily. “Keith!” Lance, Krolia and Rosa all shouted in panic. Krolia rushed forward and scooped him up. “Baby are you alright? What were you thinking?! Are you hurt?” She soothed his hair down and started to rock him back and forth in her lap.
Keith smiled up at her and then smirked at Lance. “My wings are as big as your fins now.” Lance beamed up at him with shiny eyes, he had thought Keith was hurt and was scared for him. He giggled and grabbed Keith’s hand and held on tight.
“Of all the waves and tides in the sea. You scared us little one.” Rosa chuckled as she ran her hand along Lance’s back to soothe him.
“Keith don’t you ever do that again or so help me you’ll be grounded until you are an elder dragon.” Krolia threatened and smooshed him against her bosum.
“Maaaaaaa, I’m fine.” Keith drawled as his eyes started to droop.
“You’re not fine myshka. You wore yourself out.”
Lance yawned as if on cue. “Are you sleepy my little guppy?” Rosa noticed Lance leaning into her side.
“How about you two take a nap before we fly back.” Krolia asked but Keith had already drifted off to sleep in her arms. She pulled a blanket from her satchel and handed it to Rosa. She laid it down on the sand, followed by Lance, then Keith. They automatically gravitated towards each other and wrapped their arms around one another. Krolia grabbed the ends of the blanket and wrapped them up tight.
Rosa shook her head in exasperation, “What are we going to do with these two?”
Krolia sighed in exasperation. “They are certainly a handful.”

Day 9: Christmas Tree
I promise that I will catch up soon. I had a lot of things going on the past few days and I did something to my shoulder and it really hurts to move it certain ways, so I couldn’t really concentrate on writing (so if something seems strange in this story, its honestly because of that). Anyway, I will be doing all of the days over the next two-ish days I hope, if it doesn’t get too busy. So, sorry and I hope you enjoy! ❤️
He was a bit disappointed when it got around to a few days before Christmas and his family still hadn’t gotten a Christmas tree. Really, he couldn’t blame them, they were extremely busy that year. So many things, good and bad had happened and they didn’t really have time to go that year.
“Mamá, I can go by myself if you want,” he suggested that morning as his mother raced around the kitchen trying to get everything ready for the holiday. His Papá, Mark, and Marie were all busy working during the days leading up to Christmas and Caleb and Sophie were spending a lot of their time at school and with their friends before the hustle and bustle of Christmas overwhelmed them.
“Are you sure?” She asked as she pulled a tray out of the oven. She turned to him and pulled him closer, planting a kiss on his forehead.
“Yeah mamá, its the least I can do,” he insisted walking over to the closet and pulling his coat, hat, and gloves out. It had snowed the night before and the temperature had dropped, preserving the blanket of snow outside.
“Should you really be going all alone though?” She asked with a worried tone. Lance laughed, waving off her worries.
“It’s only a tree, what could possibly happen?”
Someone must hate him somewhere. That is the only explanation for what happened. He was currently laying trapped underneath the tree that he just cut down. It wasn’t a very big tree, small enough that he could drag it back to his car and strap it on, but he fell into deep enough snow that he didn’t have any leverage to push himself up again. If that wasn’t bad enough, he fell on top of a frozen creek and cracked the ice, now his entire back was soaked. He couldn’t even move his arms enough to reach for his phone since they were sticking straight up.
“Help! Can anybody hear me!?” He called out, only hearing his voice echo out slightly from where he was trapped. He didn’t have much hope of someone hearing him since the tree farm he went to was practically abandoned when he got there. He struggled trying to get up as frustrated tears welled up in his eyes. He needed to get out of there, if he didn’t it was entirely possible that he was going to die there. He didn’t tell his mamá where he was going, or anybody really.
“HELP!” He screamed out louder as the panic fully set in. As he squirmed in his makeshift prison, snow fell off of the tree’s branch and landed on his face. He let out a small whimper as tears rolled down his cheeks melting the snow. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do. He was scared. He was alone, and he felt so stupid.
Hunk laughed with his mom while they watched Ellen on TV. Their focus shifted to the doorway when his father walked in holding the cordless phone.
“Phone for you Hunk,” he said holding it out to him. Hunk furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, if any of his friends were trying to contact him they would have texted him. He got up from the couch and took the phone from his dad and walked out of the living room.
“Hello?”
“Hunk?”
“Mrs. McClain?” He asked in confusion. He had never gotten a call from Lance’s mom before.
“Hunk, have you seen Lance, he went out to get a tree around 11 today and he still hasn’t come home,” she said, her voice obviously panicked. Hunk’s eyes widened and he looked at the clock on the oven. It read 4:23.
“No, Mrs. McClain I haven’t, I can get everyone and we can go look for him,” he said determinedly. He knew that Lance wasn’t someone to worry his friends and family on purpose, so something must have happened.
“Thank you so much Hunk, we’re looking around the house and neighbourhood to see if anyone has seen him,” she informed him, he could hear the slight warble in her voice.
“I’ll call you immediately if we find Lance,” he said before saying goodbye and hanging up. He took out his phone and started texting the group chat telling them that they had to meet up somewhere and that it was an emergency. They decided to meet at Pidge’s since her parents weren’t going to be home for a while.
Everybody got there before Hunk and immediately started questions when he got through the door.
“They can’t find Lance, he went out to get a Christmas tree about five hours ago and haven’t seen him since,” they stood in shocked silence before Pidge whipped out her laptop.
“I’m going to track his phone, it won’t be exact but we’ll have a basic area to work with,” she said before anyone could ask any questions. As soon as she had a location she flipped the screen around showing everyone the address.
“A tree farm? He could be anywhere in there,” Keith said worriedly.
“At least we know where he is, let’s go,” Shiro said, picking his coat up from where he flung it over the couch and grabbed his keys on his way out the door. The rest of them following close behind him. As they walked out the door towards Shiro’s car, they noticed that it had started to snow again and they hoped that Lance at least a little protected from the elements where ever he was.
If it wasn’t for the water that was soaking into his back, the snow around him would have kept him at least a bit warm. He had been shivering violently for the past couple of hours at least. Since he had become trapped he hadn’t stopped crying, the feeling of panic had yet to cease. At least it gave him something to concentrate on, rather than the overwhelming urge to fall asleep. He had no idea whether anyone had even noticed that he hadn’t come home yet. Sure, he knew that his mamá would eventually notice but sometimes it felt like he was the most unimportant one in the house.
Obviously, it was an awful thing to think since there shouldn’t really be a ranking for that in a family but you can’t help but think about where you stand in relation to your siblings in your parent’s eyes.
He didn’t even know what he was thinking about anymore. The numbing chill was finally starting to go to his brain. A hysterical laugh bubbled out of his mouth before he clamped his mouth shut. He noticed a little bit ago that it had started snowing again, the tree that was covering him kept most of the new flakes out but they also started to pile on top, making the boughs lean down close to his face. He really hoped that it wouldn’t fall on his face, he would actually start bawling if it did. Not that he hadn’t already that day but still.
His eyes started fluttering shut slightly as the thoughts continued to fly through his head. He was so tired. He was really sick of trying to stay awake. It was like trying to stay awake after pulling an all-nighter when you really didn’t need to stay away.
“Just a little snooze,” he mumbled to himself as he eyes slipped shut and his body started to relax in the snow.
They shot open again when he heard a faint call in the distance. He strained to hear, hoping that it wasn’t a howl of wind that he heard. He waited in tense silence, head tilted to the side so it wasn’t blocked by the snow.
He could barely hear it over the rushing wind, and natural blockade of the tree.
“Lance!” He heard a voice yell out from far away. Tears of relief welled up in his eyes and he sucked in a breath before screaming out.
“HELP!”
He and the voice continued their yells as they got closer and closer to him until finally, he saw the beam of a flashlight roam over the branches of the tree and stop on where his gloved hand was sticking up of the snow.
“Oh my god Lance!” The voice he now recognized as Shiro cried out. He could hear him plowing through the deep snow towards him. He sobbed in complete happiness and relief when he pulled the tree off of him and pulled him up. Even as he was put on solid ground, his legs buckled beneath him and he clutched onto Shiro’s jacket desperately so he wouldn’t fall to the ground.
As Shiro’s eyes roved over Lance, he noticed that he was violently shivering, his teeth were chattering against each other, his cheeks were bright red, but his lips were slightly blue. He scooped him up in his arms and started rushing back to the car, fishing his phone out of his pocket in order to call everybody back to the car.
“Sorry Lance,” Shiro said as he started stripping him out of his wet clothes and wrapped him in the spare blankets he had in the trunk of his car. He picked him up again and laid him in the passenger seat and cranked the heat up, directing the warm flow over to him. He called each of them to let them know that he had found Lance and that he was resting in the car. It took less than a minute for Hunk to come sprinting out of the forest and slide into the car behind Lance and wrap his arms around the seat to hug him.
“Are you okay man?” He asked tearfully, pressing his head into the headrest in front of him.
“I’m cold,” Lance rasped, his lips no longer chattering but exhaustion was starting to creep over him. Hunk and Shiro both nodded in understanding.
After a few minutes, Pidge and Keith jogged out of the woods and climbed into the car, both asking him the same question and receiving the same answer. As they drove back to Lance’s house, after Keith and Pidge switched to Lance’s car so it wouldn’t be left behind, Hunk called Lance’s mom assuring her that he was safe and they were on their way back. Before Hunk could hang up, Lance reached out a trembling hand for the phone.
“Mamá?” He asked. There was a loud sigh of relief on the other end.
“Lance? Are you okay? Are you hurt?” She asked calmly. On the inside, though she was frantic. She couldn’t imagine what had happened to her little boy that he wasn’t able to come home for hours.
“I’m fine mamá,” He said quietly before tearing up slightly. “I’m sorry,” he warbled.
“What? For what?” She asked in confusion.
“I’m sorry for worrying you I didn’t mean to, and I’m sorry I didn’t get the tree,” he cried, clutching the phone to his cheek. Rosa’s heart broke, that's what he was worried about?
“It’s okay honey, it’s all okay,” she soothed. She could hear him sniffling through the phone and wanted more than anything to be cradling him in her arms at that moment. At least he would be home soon and she would be able to do just that.
“Tomorrow, we’ll all go out together to get a Christmas tree, okay Lance?” She asked.
“Okay,” he agreed quietly, wiping his eyes. He couldn’t wait to get home. All he wanted right now was one of his mamá’s warm hugs.
“I’ll see you soon, I love you,”
“I love you too, mamá,”

Home and Family, Shance Fluff Week Prompt 3
June 6th: Home/Family Yes, I did both, because I couldn’t make it about Family when they’re all on Earth, AKA Home. ————————————— Lance was wiggling impatiently during the meeting. They’d finally defeated Zarkon and Lotor, the last of the Galra Empire crushed, and they’d finally, finally returned to Earth. But negotiations with Earth had to happen first, all the major leaders speaking to Allura and Coran and news crews everywhere.
Lance just wanted to go home. He wanted to see his family, his Mamá and Papá and siblings and every relative he could think of, back in Cuba. But he’d be free soon enough, so he smiled and waved and tapped his foot agitatedly against the sweet and familiar dirt he’d missed these past few years.
Shiro noticed his fidgeting and slyly twined his hand together with his boyfriend’s, Blue rumbling soothingly in his mind while Pidge shot him an empathetic look from where she was standing with her brother and father. Hunk and Keith noticed too, shuffling closer while Keith stayed behind the bigger man, camera shy.
“Soon, Lance. Just hold on a little longer, and then we’ll all go visit Cuba with you.” Shiro muttered as he smiled at another camera.
Lance made a soft whine in the back of his throat at the thought of waiting longer, but a soft laugh from Blue soothed his impatience as she reassured him she’d fly as fast as she could to get him to his family.
It took longer than he thought, but sure enough he and Blue were breaking the sound barrier as they flew across the country to his homeland, the others following close behind.
Shiro’s laughter echoed through the comm link. “Lance! Slow down babe, the rest of us can’t keep up.” Lance purposefully ignored Keith’s indignant shout in favor of whining at his boyfriend.
“I know Shiro, but I haven’t seen them in years! I don’t know if my siblings got married or if aunt Rosa had the baby oh who am I kidding she probably did but what about the baby itself? Is it a girl? Boy? I don’t know!” Lance rambled, gunning Blue’s engines even faster over the ocean.
“Lance, its only been five years. Besides, if anything, I’m slightly worried about meeting them.” Shiro confessed.
Lance huffed out a short laugh. “Babe, you’re the epitome of a good gentleman. They’ll love you!” He said, finally slowing Blue down in order to regale his boyfriend and team with stories of how well his family had taken his bisexuality and attraction to boys, both negating his panic and easing Shiro’s worries.
It wasn’t long after that the familiar island country popped into view, exciting Lance and even Blue purred in anticipation.
He landed her in a field, only a few miles from his old house. He’d checked beforehand, the McClain residence still standing and bursting with people.
He dashed out of the cockpit, stumbling a little as he ran down a dusty path towards his house, noticing people chattering in rapid Spanish around a TV set up on the porch. He recognized the flash of blue onscreen.
“Mamá! Papá!” He called, watching as the two people closest to the television whirled around and gaped at the dusty man in armor tearing up the path to their home, crying.
The first to reach him was surprisingly his mother, a short and stocky woman, who had sprinted across the yard and practically tackled him, sobbing his name as cries of “Its really him!” “It’s Lance! He’s alive!” and “Please God, don’t let this be a dream!” echoed across the house in Spanish, more and more familiar family members coming out to dogpile their lost and thought dead relative.
Lance sobbed and hugged as many blood relatives as he could, his mother full on bawling like some of his sisters and his father and older brother sniffling and his uncle shouting about where in hell had he been all this time and his little cousins squealing over his armor.
He was smothered in kisses and hugs and it was almost overwhelming. His family finally backed up a little, crowding around him and shouting questions, rapid Spanish nearly drowning the Blue Paladin. His Mamá held his face between both hands as she peppered his face with little kisses, just like she’d done before he’d left for the Garrison all those years ago.
“You’ve come back to me. Mi hijo came back to me.” His mother whimpered, the familiar lilt to her voice such a missed sound that Lance cried even harder as he enveloped her in a hug.
“I’m home, Mamá.” He hiccuped, hearing the approaching sound of his other family, his team. He smiled. “There’s some people I’d like you to meet.” He explained, pulling away and leading her by the hand to where his space family stood by the gate.
Lance smiled and reached for Shiro’s hand. “Mamá, this is my boyfriend, Shiro.” He said, beaming at his mother. She laughed and pulled the bigger man into a hug, startling him.
“Thank you for bringing my baby home in one piece, Shiro.” She said gratefully, Shiro finally hugging back.
“Ha! It was a really near thing. I dunno how many times that idiot took a hit for one of us.” Keith spoke up, folding his arms over his chest and eyeing Lance playfully. Lance scoffed, rolling his eyes as the team started relaxing around the huge Cuban family, cousins already tugging at Matt’s rebel clothing, Pidge getting buried under fussing adults and Hunk saying hello to the McClain’s he remembered.
“Only because some mullet headed moron kept thinking with his sword more than his head!” Lance shot back, grinning. Lance’s mother quirked an eyebrow as she stepped back from the hug she’d given Shiro, her husband already heading inside to make coffee.
“Okay boys, play nice.” Pidge piped up, finally free from Lance’s aunts and uncles and jabbing Keith in the side while Lance cackled at the startled yelp the Red Paladin gave at the sudden injury. Matt snickered, highfiving his sister.
Lance’s mother shook her head, giggling at the playful little group her boy had claimed as a second family.
“Why don’t you all come inside for some coffee and tea? It sounds like you have a lot of stories to tell.” She asked kindly, and Shiro tilted his head at her with a gentle smile.
“That sounds lovely, Mrs. McClain.” ——————————- I hope this was fluffy enough!!!! 🖤💙🖤💙 @shancefluffweek

Inspired by this absolutely angsty masterpiece by @jackalopes-vld
This is really angsty and references intrusive thoughts, so please keep yourself safe.
WC: 1574
Annoying.
He’s not annoying. People like being around him. He’s not annoying.
Good for nothing.
He’s their sharpshooter. He has a purpose.
Worthless.
He’s worth something.
Seventh wheel.
He’s… He is the seventh wheel. There isn’t a doubt about that.
Can’t handle the stress.
He can’t. It gnaws at him every waking moment.
Can’t deal with criticism.
Fuck. It hurts, okay? Not everyone is graceful with that shit.
Useless weight brought along out of pity.
Stop.
Nothing.
Stop!
Just fucking leave.
Please. Please, just stop. Please.
Lance curls in on himself more, sobs wracking his body, cries muffled by his pillow. The blanket on the bed wraps around him like an anaconda, squeezing him until he can’t breathe, can’t move, but he doesn’t have it within him to care.
He can’t stop it. His brain won’t give him a moment’s worth of peace. Spewing insult after insult, lie after lie. Tearing him down and laughing as it does so.
His shirt strangles him, enclosing him. The collar chokes him, sleeves restrain him. The fabric tightens, pinning him down, subjecting him to the whims of his mind.
His eyes close. Watching the room spin and swirl as tears pool and spill is too much. Watching everything slowly draw closer makes him want to scream.
His hands come up to his head, trembling uncontrollably. He holds his head in his hands, digging his nails in, something to ground him as he slowly feels himself start to slip.
“Name five things you can see,” whispers a tiny voice from the furthest corner of his brain.
His eyes crack open.
Bed. Slippers. Robe. Door. Towel.
“Four things you can hear.” The voice grows louder.
The hum of the ship. His breathing. The vent as it starts to blow air. The ever so faint buzz of the lights.
“Three things you can feel.” The voice is strong, confident.
The bed under him. The blanket wrapped around him. The drying tear on his face.
“Two things you can smell.” It’s at the forefront of his mind.
His own sweat. Keith’s scent, forever buried into the bedding.
“One thing you can taste.” It’s his Mamá.
The saltiness of his tears.
It’s not relief that washes over him, but a wave of calm. The one that happens right after the storm, where you aren’t quite sure if it’s over yet or if you should hunker down and prepare for more.
He untangles himself from the blankets, letting himself breathe again. He wipes away his tears, making a mental note to make sure he moisturizes tonight.
Taking a deep breath in, Lance lets himself feel it raise his chest and stomach. He slowly lets it out, feeling the way his body relaxes along with it. He sits up for a moment. He grabs the hem of his shirt, lifting it up and off of him before laying back down.
Cold washes through him, starting in his heart, spreading throughout his body. It feels like he was thrown into a freezing lake in the middle of the night, only to be pulled right back out, left to shiver as he dries out. It’s a shock to his system, making him twitch and shudder for just a moment.
There’s a knock at the door. The same three wraps there always is, immediately followed by a couple ‘beep’s and a ‘whoosh’ as it the door opens. Keith steps into the room, face sweaty as he comes back from his training. He says a simple hello to Lance, not really looking at him, before grabbing his towel off the floor and going into the en suite bathroom.
The sink runs, water splashing for a minute before being shut back off. There’s the sound of clothes shuffling and then Keith’s shirt comes flying out from the bathroom and into the pile sitting by his hamper. Keith comes out a moment later, using the towel to dab at his face.
Lance, knowing Keith would know something’s off, sat up, scooting towards the end of the bed. His feet touch the frigid ground. He hisses slightly, raising his feet before slowly setting them back down.
Keith drops the towel onto the ground.
“Do we have any wat-” starts Keith, cutting himself off as his gaze lands on Lance. “What’s wrong?”
Keith rushes over to Lance, kneeling in front of him. Lance opens his legs, letting Keith situate himself between them.
Hands resting on Lance’s chest, he rubs them up and down slightly. Lance hangs his head, eyes closing.
Lance sighs. “I don’t even know how to explain it.”
“Try me,” says Keith, voice smooth and gentle.
Lance peeks at him. His head is tilted slightly, brows knitted together, curving upwards, mouth slightly turned downwards with worry.
“I dunno. My brain is just… bein’ an asshole.”
“Want me to fight it?” asks Keith.
Lance lets out a huff of laughter, booping Keith’s nose before setting his hand back on his own thigh. “And how are you going to do that?”
“Like this,” says Keith, surging forward. One hand slides down to his bicep while the other rises, up his neck, cradling his head in his hand, fingers curling around the back of his head.
Keith plants a big, wet kiss on Lance’s cheek, the determination on his face rivaled only by a child promising to eat more than they know they ever could. It’s adorable as hell.
Lance lets out a laugh, unable to help himself. Keith smiles against him, both their eyes falling shut as Keith continues to pepper kisses across Lance’s face. He covers every square inch of his cheek and nose as Lance giggles. Moves back down to his jaw, carefully tracing his jawline with tiny kisses, moving down his neck to his collarbone.
Lance sighs, calming down as Keith kisses his way across his collarbone. “I just want a week where my brain isn’t actively trying to make me feel like shit. Like, just one. But,” Lance shrugs, “I guess that’s too much to ask for.”
Lance laughs again, but not out of happiness. He laughs as a cold feeling settles in his heart. A hopelessness washes through him. A tingling numbs him. He doesn’t realize that Keith is looking at him. Doesn’t realize he started crying again, at least not until he feels Keith’s thumbs wipe them away as they cradle his jaw.
“Lance. I want you to listen to me very carefully.”
Lance nods, swallowing.
“You are amazing. You are hands down, the kindest, most sincere person I have ever met in my life. You genuinely care about people you’ve barely even met. You love your family, both on Earth and on this ship. You’d do anything to protect all of us, even taking a bomb to save just one. You complete our team. You bring us together, unite us in a common goal. You are there for Hunk, provide insight for Shiro, offer all the help you can and then some to Pidge, and calm me down when I can’t do so myself. You see past every single negative, focusing instead on the positives in everyone.
“You are one of the best people I’ve ever met, Lance. I don’t know how you’ve ever decided that I’m even remotely deserving to call you my boyfriend or allow me to share your bed with you, your life with you, but you have. I love you so much, Lance. I would do anything for you. If it means I fight your brain, then I’ll do it. If it means I cradle you in my arms while you vent, then I’ll do it. If it means that I hold you as you fall asleep, then I’ll do it, and I’ll do it with a smile on my face because I love being near you. I love that you trust me enough to tell me your problems and keep you close to me while you sleep. I just love you. Te quiero tanto, mi amor. Te quiero tanto.”
Lance throws his arms around Keith’s waist, pulling him closer as he envelops him in a hug. Keith’s arms wrap around his neck, one hand coming up to cradle the back of his head, fingers gently scratching at his scalp.
He can’t help the hot tears the slide down his face and land on Keith’s shoulder. Can’t help the slight trembles that cause Keith to hold him tighter. Can’t help nuzzling into Keith’s neck, letting the feeling of his pulse calm him.
Keith pulls back, one arm staying on his back as the other comes down to curl around his neck. Lance shifts back as well, preparing himself for whatever Keith was about to say when Keith gently presses a kiss to Lance’s lips.
Keith breaks the kiss before Lance can even do anything. Putting a hand on his shoulder, Lance pulls him closer, slotting their lips together in an open-mouthed kiss. His eyes slide shut, tears still spilling from under his eyelids.
Never breaking the kiss, Keith runs his hand down to Lance’s chest, rubs his thumb in a circle. Lance sighs into the kiss, tension fleeing his body with such a simple gesture.
They pull apart but rest their foreheads together, air mingling in the small space between them. Both of their eyes remain closed, simply reveling in each others’ presence.
After a couple minutes, Keith whispers, “How about we take a bath?”
Lance hums, eyes fluttering open as a lazy smile spreads across his face. “Sounds fantastic.”

Purple Hearts💜pt.2
Four hours. That’s it. Four hours of sleep until Lance’s mamá came in to wake him up. Four hours of dreams about Keith, though that was normal, but only four hours? C’mon! Oh well, he should stop complaining and get up. Lance’s madre kept yelling at him in Spanish telling him to get up, don’t waste your good energy, saving the world doesn’t end, don’t let your lion get rusty. But by far the funniest comment was “Don’t let me get Cosmo to pee on your face until you wake up!” Said in Spanish of course. Lance popped out of bed and on his feet instantly at that last threat, the last thing Lance would want is Cosmo pee in his mouth.
“I’m up!”
“Obviously…, breakfast is on the counter and so is Keith”
“Sounds delici- wait what? Keith? What’s Keith doing here, and why is he on the counter?”
“Beats me.”
“Ok mamá, I’ll be out in a minute.”
Lance kissed his mother’s cheek softly and walked to his wardrobe. He changed out of his night shorts, which were athletic short shorts, and into some dark washed jeans. Next he changed out of his white tank top and into a light gray t-shirt with a Cuban flag printed on it. Lance then grabbed his jacket and turned to head towards his bedroom door, only to find that Keith was standing in the doorway.
“H-how long have you been standing there?”
“The whole time…, let’s agree never to talk about it.”
“Deal! So, uhh, what are you doing here? It’s not like you to just pop in.”
Keith closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“I was wondering if… you would like to… go to the fair with me today?”
Lance stood there astonished but only for a moment before he regained his usual cockiness and arrogance.
“Why does this sound an awfully lot like you’re asking me out on a date?”
Keith rolled his eyes and looked at the east wall, saying nothing and slightly blushing.
“Do you want to go or not? This will be the last time I ask.”
Lance’s snarky smile seemed to evaporate at that.
“Uh, what I meant to say was, I’m free today, how does 5:00 sound?”
Keith walked up to Lance seductively and stood face-to-face with the Cuban boy in front of him.
“How about now? How does that sound?”
He was so close they could’ve kissed, but instead Lance replied in a voice and smile just as seductive,
“Sounds great.”
***
The fair was crowded with people who wanted to be early to avoid the massive lines, but some were already forming. Lance didn’t care about how long the line was, it meant he had more time to be by Keith. Lance was looking at all the rides when someone took his right hand and intertwined their fingers with his.
“Softy…,”
Lance whispered softly so Keith couldn’t hear but he heard anyway.
“Am not.”
Lance smiled at the half Galra boy beside him
“Hey, you’re the one who made the move.”
“Well that’s because you weren’t going to,”
Lance started at Keith accusingly,
“I...I was just waiting for the right moment!”
“Sure, Lance,”
Keith replied, rolling his eyes.
“We should check out the ‘Pharaoh’ first. What do you think?”
They were still holding on to each other’s hand. Keith just simply nodded and smiled, and Lance started running, dragging Keith behind him. The gate manager was there tearing tickets. Lance knew it was protocol so no one could steal a ticket and reuse it.
“Next!”
Lance and Keith walked to the front of the line and wrapped his arm romantically, around Keith’s neck.
“Two please!”
Lance said excitedly.
“Sorry no homo’s allowed.”
“Excuse me?”
“What did you just say?”
Lance and Keith asked offended.
“Are you slow? I said no homosexuals, now scam you faggets!”
“Oh, no you didn’t!”
Lance said, reaching for his phone. He dialed the number he knew well, from working here months prior.
“Hello, yes sorry to bother, I’m quite sure you’re busy, but I’m at the ‘Pharaoh’ and one of your men at the gate is telling me and my partner, that we can’t ride the ride because we’re homosexuals… mhm?…okay…exactly what he said?… alright, he said ‘sorry no homo’s allowed,’ then he called us faggets and told us to scam… okay I’ll tell him…alright have a good day Mark…mkay… bye bye. He said to let us on the ride. Oh, and he wants to see you.”
The man walked away from Lance and Keith but not after flipping him off. The woman who was working stepped up to the gate and allowed the two on board with no payment. A few hours of ride later the sun had begun to set, and the issue had dropped with it. Lance, being the flirtster he was, pulled Keith in close and wrapped his arms around him.
“What are you doing?”
“What do you mean? I can’t just give you a hug. I mean we are together right?”
The question brought a rosy tint to Lance’s cheeks.
“This is the first date, Lance. Plus, I know what you want, and you are not getting me to ride the Ferris Wheel“
Lance let go immediately and pouted at his date mate.
“Why not?! What did I do?”
“Nothing, it’s just really cheesy.”
Lance glared at Keith and five minutes later they were moving slowly in a Ferris wheel car.
“How did I let you talk me into this?”
“Well all I did was argue with you and walk slowly towards the ride as you were trying to make your point.”
Lance answered with glee. He thought the stunt was quite clever ever since Victoria used it on him to get him to ride “The Flag” many years ago. It was a terrifying experience since he was six and despised heights. Lance vomited that day and vowed never to let that happen again.
“Shut up, Lance!”
“Hey, it could be worse. For you, but for me this is couldn’t be better!”
“You’re right, Lance,it could be worse.the ride could get stuck while we sit at the highest point of the ride!”
As if on cue, the ride did break down. Keith glowered and Lance grinned.
“Oh, c’mon!”
Keith’s arms shot up in the air in a fit of rage. He turned to Lance red faced with anger.
“Do you have something to do with this Lance? I’m not the lovey dovey type, so stop trying to force me to be!”
“Whoa, Keith, babe, what are you talking about? I don’t have anything to do with the ride ironically stopping, and I know you’re not an overly affectionate type of guy. I’m not trying to change you. Where did you get that idea?”
“I thought,...all the cheesy stuff… I just thought you were. Sorry, Lance, I didn’t mean to jump to conclusions like that.”
“Keith, I like you for who you are. I would never change anything about you because… well, because I love you Keith.”
He said it the three most important words in a relationship. The question is …will Keith say it back?
To be continued...
