The Gribble House Savannah, Georgia
The Gribble House is another one of the most haunted locations in Savannah and the reason for this can be traced back to a terrible tragedy in 1909.
A warehouse now stands on the property but back then 3 women were brutally murdered there and their killer was never found.
It seems that this has left a permanent mark on the land because even although the house is long gone, the spirits of the victims remain.
Paranormal enthusiasts can take a tour of the warehouse that has taken its place to see if they can experience the strange things that others have on the property.
This includes strange light anomalies, a woman in white and a shadowy figure that runs through the building.

So over the past week or so I've positively binged Shadows House
Because that anime, I swear, was made in a lab for me specifically
It's got middle-grade horror vibes and cute kids in frilly Victorian outfits and mysteries and Jungian symbolism and Doomed Gothic Lesbians and gribbly Henry Selick-ass monster designs and some of the most realistic cult dynamics I've ever seen in fiction
talk to me about shadows house PLEASE

Have you seen this childhood show: Round the Twist (1990-2001), Australia (English)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Commentary/Context/Memories: One of the most important shows of Aussie culture of all time, probably. To this day, whenever someone begins a sentence with “have you ever…” my brain always autofills in the rest of the theme song LMAO
This show was submitted twice!
[Mod A: Round the Twist was a comedy/drama about a widower Tony Twist (a sculptor) and his three kids (14 year old twins Linda and Pete, and 8 year old son Bronson) who move away from their house into a bohemian lifestyle at a old lighthouse on the Victorian Coast that turns out to be haunted by unexplainable events. They also interact with the local port community, in particularly a businessman Harold Gribble, who plots to evict the Twists from their lighthouse so he can turn it into a casino or tourist attraction. The show is pretty focused on the siblings: Linda who is into environmentalism, judo and is also the most normal (and spiritual) of the gang, while her twin Pete gets into embarrassing situations and is harassed often by Gribble Jr. and his gang. Bronson is obsessed with food/odors, and he is conflicted about being simultaneously left out the twins plots while also getting a lot of dangerous responsibility put on him during their mishaps. The siblings investigate the lighthouse which is haunted by a variety of ghosts that have died in shipwrecks, including that of their neighbour Nell’s family and also the previous lighthouse keepers (as punishment for not doing their jobs well). There are also mysterious occurrences like the scarecrow coming to life, lots of bones, a mysterious lady trying to kidnap Pete and a green baby found in a cabbage patch. While I knew of this show as being one of the most famous Australian children’s show (I’ve seen parodies done of it), I did not know that they had to change the child actors for most seasons (since it ran for a decade)!]

Christopher Alexander-John Gribble, New Hampshire inmate 88327, born 1990, incarceration intake in 2011 at age 21, available for release consideration on 09/30/2108, with full sentenced satisfied on 02/27/2206
Murder
In 2011, a 21-year-old man who admitted he took part in a machete and knife attack on a New Hampshire woman and her daughter was convicted of murder after jurors rejected his claim of insanity.
Minutes after the jury returned the verdict against Christopher Gribble, New Hampshire Superior Court Judge Gillian Abramson imposed the mandatory sentence of life, telling Gribble, "infinity is not enough jail time."
When he appeared in court for the verdict Gribble wore slacks and a dress shirt. When he reappeared in court for his sentencing he was wearing bright orange prison garb, shackled at the wrists and ankles.
The jury deliberated approximately two hours over two days before finding him guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit burglary and witness tampering.
Gribble admitted he took part in the Oct. 4, 2009, home invasion and that he and Spader intended to kill anyone they found in the house. Spader is serving a life sentence.
Gribble took the stand in his own defense during the 11-day trial, claiming he had been abused by his mother and that he had fantasized about torturing and killing her. He asked a jury to find him not guilty by reason of insanity, but prosecution experts who examined him testified Gribble had an anti-social personality but knew the difference between right and wrong.
Juries in New Hampshire have wide latitude to determine what a mental disease or defect is and whether it was the cause of the crimes committed. It has been more than half a century since a New Hampshire jury returned a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity.

The Invisible Man, Ch. 12 - The Invisible Man Loses His Temper
This chapter is basically some fun slapstick and violence, with every person in Iping running and jumping and falling over each other, or getting punted by Griffin and then running and jumping and falling over each.
My favorite moments are probably Mr. Bunting running through the streets naked cause Griffin stole all his clothes, making this earlier conversation funnier:
They remained listening. The conversation was rapid and subdued. “I can’t,” said Mr. Bunting, his voice rising; “I tell you, sir, I will not.” “What was that?” asked Henfrey. “Says he wi’ nart,” said Hall. “Warn’t speaking to us, wuz he?” “Disgraceful!” said Mr. Bunting, within.
And also Mrs. Hall being the only person who does not get involved in any of that nonsense because she's been "disciplined by years of experience," implying she's lived through similar moments of such chaos.
Now when Hall and Henfrey and the labourers ran out of the house, Mrs. Hall, who had been disciplined by years of experience, remained in the bar next the till.
Though there is one interesting line at the end describing Griffin's rage through the streets. It's small, but plays well into the whole idea of this story being a report after the fact.
The Invisible Man amused himself for a little while by breaking all the windows in the “Coach and Horses,” and then he thrust a street lamp through the parlour window of Mrs. Gribble. He it must have been who cut the telegraph wire to Adderdean just beyond Higgins’ cottage on the Adderdean road. And after that, as his peculiar qualities allowed, he passed out of human perceptions altogether, and he was neither heard, seen, nor felt in Iping any more. He vanished absolutely.
The sentences go from directly saying that Griffin did something to assuming he did something. It's subtle, and makes sense if you consider that there likely would have been witnesses to Griffin breaking windows and such, but nobody would have been around to see him cut a telegraph wire. Instead, that incident was presumably blamed on him afterwards. It doesn't even seem in line with the rest of Griffin's actions here as something done in anger.
Now, I don't remember if later chapters confirm that Griffin was the one who cut the wire, but these small moments do imply a thin layer of doubt to everything we read, which I think is a fun way to look at the story.

Thrift a wedding dress, drench yourself in blood and be like a murder ghost bride. Spirit has small axe props, get some fake flowers to weave around it to make it into a bouquet, get a veil from Spirit or Party City and bam, instant spooky bride.
I did this a few years ago and was also outside for most of the night but just wore a white thermal shirt underneath. It was nice having a long dress because I could wear 3 layers of pants and thick boots and nobody could tell (I’m from NY we get cold Halloweens here lol)
You could then donate the bloody dress to your local haunted house/hayride for them to use as an actor costume next year!
Tumblr media
Along both these lines, I think Samara Weaving's character from ready or not would be a perfect option if I could just find the right kind of 'wedding' dress in time. Bc not only do I have the fake blood, but that character has an iconic scene where they're all bloody and smoke a cig at the end AND i have fake cigs from my Dale Gribble costume last year
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obv I don't need the gun but I think I could get everything except I haven't found the dress yet (except as an actual wedding dress for $200 on Amazon), but hopefully Spirit or a thrift store (that's a good idea!) might have it.
Thanks for the inspo!! 😊😊

i guess this is just my life now.
Geeze... 10days goes by like nothing. Anyhoot,
youtube
This level is still very pretty, but still not quite as good as Gate to the future. That's just how things shake out sometimes.
youtube
This one, tho', this is the real sauce. Expansive, inventive, goofy as heck. Gribbly goblins to collect, superficially random, but hewing to its own, quirky environment and style. i had no idea what i was going to get when i started the level, and was just knocked back a step wiv how much fun i wound up having.
youtube
This one is broken, and it's such a shame, because i was really digging on what i got to play. It's such a nice, detailed haunted house environment, and doesn't hide all that by dumping the lighting settings too low. The gameplay isn't screaming pizzaz, but it's fun and keeps you moving. There just seems to be something that's gone sideways in the logic for that last cutscene, 'cause it just snaps the camera back to the checkpoint and sits there doing nothing. You can't even access your poppit, so i don't know what was going on.
youtube
yu-kamone is such a Jside creator, and it's a shame they've left for the (potentially) greener pastures of Dreams. i have played their stuff there, but i don't know how often the project gets updated, or if it'll ever be completed; it's been ongoing for a few years at this point. This one is a really good example of their work, and one i'd somehow managed to have never played before queuing it up for the Archive.
youtube
As far as i can tell, this one is just a set of reskinned Collected Object obstacles strung together for a race. Don't get me wrong, i had fun enough wiv it, and i bet it'd be more of a hoot wiv friends, but... at least it's an actual level; i'm used to these kinds of things just being a bunch of objects plunked down willy-nilly and maybe some smeared Dark Matter if you're lucky.
youtube
Quite a nice environment on this one, and the creatinator was neat, if perhaps a little unintuitive and overly limited in range. It's, perhaps, a little too short, but even that isn't the worst thing. Sometimes it's nice to have a nice, robustly presented experience that doesn't wind up being 45minutes to play. i kinda feel like that was a bit of a more common thing in LBP2, levels could just be over stuffed sometimes.
youtube
There is a tonne to see in this one if you put in the effort to poke around and explore. There's not an awful lot of direction in it, so i could easily see players accidentally bee-lining right to the end, and not realizing how much they'd missed. Now, it is LBP1-kludgy, so if you feel all that exploration was worth it is very much a your-mileage-may-vary kind of deal, but i feel like it was fun enough for what it was.
youtube
We talked about this one a couple days back, and i still don't like it very much.
youtube
Simple, and a little frustrating at times, but not wivout its charm. Reminded me a bit of my very first level in LBP1, which, unfortunately, has long since been deleted. i took it down to do a little work on it, and never got around to republishing it. Since i didn't have PS+ when my first PS3 died (were cloud saves even still a thing back in 2013?), all my unpublished levels died wiv it. The saddest of sad trombones.
youtube
i wound up really liking this one, as simple as it was. The gameplay was pretty smooth for an early level from a creator, and i had a really good time wiv the race. Enough that i went back to it enough times to get first place (i think there were only a handful of folx on the scoreboard, tho', so not really a major feat).
-------------------------------------------------------- So that's another ten down, and just 40days off from episode 100. It'll be here before i know it, i'm sure.

"The Goode Family" Observations Part 4
I have very little to comment on the Episode where the Prisoners who are Nazis are helping the Goode Family clean-up the Highway. Though, interestingly enough, the Nazis becoming less bigoted because its bad for their (drug) business, does offer a parallel to Capitalism. Which will chase inclusivity and diversity once discrimination and bigotry is less profitable. "You always treat me with respect and equality. You know, like a sissy." Yeah no, the very bad attitudes about race are very upfront. You have to go to the later episodes to get the "women don't want to be equals" and "women be crazy" stuff. Being "manly" is dressing like Dale Gribble, apparently. Okay. The characters are super-okay with appropriating Indigenous Customs. Which... You would think these characters would be against. But okay.
For as sh*t as the show is, allowing the resolution for the final episode to be "its okay for Men to cry" is a pretty good message. And the show does not really mock or belittle that point. Well. Watched the whole show. It sucked. But I did not hate all of the characters. The mother is the worst example of a performative activist. The father is written like he is from a different planet. But I actually think the Son and the Daughter are neat characters. The Son is adopted, but completely absorbs the environmentalism and desire to better the World into his life. Unlike the father, he does not become a complete stereotype. They allow him to be a good mechanic and football player, which is appreciated. The Daughter is materialistic, catty, and rebellious. But she still clearly follows the principals set forth from her parents (such as the veganism). Overall. I get why the show is forgotten. It is interesting that as the show went on, they really do drop any pretext that this family is supposed to be politically Leftwing. And it just goes full-force into them being individualist, hyper-environmentalist, vegans. Efforts to organize (Protesting, Petitions, etc.) are met with mockery even by the family themselves. There are no talks about Labour Organizing (the show backs child labour and the father is fine being exploited in his job). Systemic Change is met with disgust. In fairness. The Nazi Episode is the only one with actual organizing that had an impact, though it expanded an illegal drug trade. And there are pictures of the family working in Soup Kitchens and Needle Exchanges, but we never see them actually do that that in the show (only through the pictures that are over a decade old in universe). The Goode Family likes Che Guevara (despite hating violence and hating "toppling existing power structures"), Ghandi, and Al Gore. That's about everyone on the "Left" who gets mentioned. No mentions of Marx, Engels, Kropotkin, etc. Though half-way through the writers must have opened a dictionary cause they did use words like "bourgeoisie" and "reactionary" (only once for both). But that was still there. But again, I do not think the Characters are on the "Left" in terms of economically, in terms of labor, and they barely skate by in terms of culturally. Despite calling Indigenous Groups "backwards", almost saying the N-Word, the father being pro-abstinence, them not wanting people to "leach off the system", the father being Anti-Graffiti, etc. They do not hate Gay People and I think they pretend to like People of Colour (but this manifests in cultural appropriation, whether it be the decorations in their house or the drum circle seminar). They are on the Left solely due to the Environmentalist aspect. They recycle, they compost, they are concerned about climate change, etc. But again, individualist notion of activism, we buy from the organic chain store and we believe the carbon footprint BS. In essence "its not the big corporations' fault, its the individual's fault", that kind of stuff. This was interesting. Again seeing Conservatives (probably Moderate Conservatives) writing what they think a Far Left Family would be. It was interesting experiment. I think the over focus on the environmentalist aspect tho (not saying it disappeared on the Left, its just not the only issue), is very much of the time (2009).

Treat Williams, the star of Everwood and Hair, has kicked the bucket in the wake of being engaged with a cruiser mishap. He was 71. The entertainer's passing was affirmed to Individuals on Monday night by his representative of 15 years, Barry McPherson. "He was killed this evening. Jacob Gribble, the fire boss for Dorset, Vermont, tells Individuals the accident occurred on Monday around 5 p.m. on Highway 30 by Lengthy Path Auto close to Dorset, Vermont. Per Gribble, the episode included a solitary vehicle and Williams' cruiser. Examiners accept the driver of the vehicle was turning and didn't see the bike. Gribble says the motorcyclist was the main individual hurt and a LifeNet helicopter was called to carrier him to an emergency clinic in New York. TW DEATH TW BUGS TW RELIGION TW DRUGS
aye yo tw graphic death shit under the cut and also religious talk and also just me venting and being emotional
my last reblog of dale gribble just like made me flat out start sobbing. dale gribble always reminded me of my grandpas nephew kenny. I always had a really weird relationship with kenny. He wasnt a great guy. He was a terrible father to his kids. We had to take in his kids so many times because CPS wanted to take them away. He was a polyaddict, mostly using alcohol towards the end but im pretty sure he was cleaning up his act. He was trying.
He was at my house a few days before christmas and he was in the basement working on our furnace with my grandpa. Kenny always did shit work and it never stayed fixed and usually ended up being worse after he got his hands on it, but he still came and helped. I was pissed he was here because he’s unvaccinated and wouldnt get vaccinated despite our pleas and despite us even taking him to the location he needed to get it done. I resented him a lot. He pissed me off a lot. My grandparents had contracted covid from him the year before. I couldnt wait for him to leave. I’ll regret not going down and telling him “Merry Christmas” for the rest of my life. We were the last family he saw aside from his ex who was actively trying to get him thrown in jail. Why the fuck am I such a bitch. I hate myself for that. I will always hate myself for that.
We bantered a lot when we saw each other. He would say im “as pretty as a hubcap” He reminded me a lot of my dad. I think thats what hurts a lot. He reminded me of like…. the good parts of my dad. The funny parts. The witty parts. Kenny did drugs with my dad when they were younger. Kenny never stopped fighting for his kids despite being a shitty father. I hated and loved kenny at the same time. It was a weird relationship. I cared about him a lot more than I thought.
Around New Years Eve Kenny had went to visit his ex in a womens shelter. On his way home the muffler fell off of his truck. Kenny never did things the right way. He tempted fate almost constantly. He pulled off to the side of the road and hiked his car up with an old rusty jack just like he had done so many times. It wasnt enough. It wasnt enough the many times he had done it before but he just got lucky. We dont know exactly what happened, he could have kicked it, a big truck could have drove by and jostled it, we dont know, but the jack fell, and his car crushed him. He got squashed like a fucking bug and god im crying againbbecause dale gribble is an exterminator. It just feels so fucked up. Its not fucking fair. It just feels fucked up and evil. I have never coped well with things coming to an end.
Lately Ive felt so much resentment towards my grandpas method of grieving and i feel so guilty for that. Kenny was the closest thing to a biological son my grandpa ever had. I just wish he would mourn in his own way without bringing me into it. It seems that he gets this motivation to convert everyone when someone dies because he gets scared we’ll die and wont go to heaven because we havent been saved. It drives me crazy. Nothing about this death makes me want to become closer to god. I cant stand hearing people who didnt even fucking know kenny saying he got “called home to god”Try telling that to his fucking kids who are in foster care. Why the fuck would a god SMASH SOMEONE UNDER THEIR CAR. Why would god torment someone for their whole lives and then end it with a big disgusting smash. I dont like that god. I dont believe in that god. I condemn that god. Why cant tragic shit just happen? Its terrible. its heartwrenching. Why does it have to have some deeper meaning? Everyone fucking failed kenny. Everyone failed him. He never got a fighting chance to begin with. If there is a god that god failed kenny. squashed like a bug. His whole life he was treated like a pest and I was a part of that. It makes me feel ill. It makes me feel angry. It makes me want to scream and rip my hair out. Theres nothing I can do. The coroner said his death was sudden. He didnt suffer. I hope its true. I hope it was nothing but a warm embrace. I hope is pain is over. I hope his kids are in loving hands.
