Kentucky meat shower
The Kentucky Meat Shower refers to a peculiar incident that took place on March 3, 1876, in Bath County, Kentucky, USA. The event involved chunks of meat seemingly falling from the sky, mystifying the witnesses and leading to various explanations and theories.
According to contemporary reports, a sudden rain of meat occurred in a rural area near the town of Olympia Springs. The meat was described as small, reddish in color, and ranging in size from flakes to larger pieces. It was said to have covered an area of several acres.
Witnesses at the scene reported the meat to have a strange odor and texture. Some individuals even tasted it, leading to different opinions about its origin. Speculations ranged from the notion that it was a heavenly phenomenon to the idea that it was the result of vultures disgorging their contents mid-flight.
Local authorities and scientists were called in to investigate the event. One scientist, Dr. A. Mead Edwards, conducted an examination and concluded that the meat was of muscular origin, resembling either beef or mutton. He suggested that the meat shower might have been caused by a flock of vultures flying overhead and regurgitating their prey.
Despite the investigation, the exact cause of the Kentucky Meat Shower remains uncertain. The incident has become a subject of curiosity and speculation, with numerous theories proposed over the years. Some theories propose that the meat may have been carried by a strong wind from a nearby slaughterhouse, while others suggest it could have been the result of a meteorological event.
The Kentucky Meat Shower continues to captivate the imagination of those interested in unusual and unexplained phenomena. While it remains an intriguing historical event, the specific circumstances surrounding the incident remain a mystery, and it is unlikely that a definitive explanation will ever be determined.

The unsolved mystery of the Van Meter Visitor – a winged creature!
A bizarre legend and unsolved mystery which has haunted a small Iowa town for more than 100 years is the subject of a new book called The Van Meter Visitor.
For several nights in 1903, the small town of Van Meter, Iowa was terrorized by a giant bat-like creature that emerged from an old abandoned mine.
The identity of this mysterious monster has never been discovered, but over 100 years later a new book is retelling the amazing tale and hoping to shed some light on what happened all those years ago.
The legend dates back to the fall of 1903, when several of Van Meter’s most well respected citizens reported a half human, half animal with enormous, smooth bat wings flying about.
The creature is described as moving at speeds the townsfolk had never witnessed before, plus it let off a powerful stench and shot a blinding light from its horned head.
Each time the townsfolk encountered the creature they fired their guns at it, but this appeared to have no impact on the creature.
On the first night it was first spotted flying across the building tops. The next evening it was spotted by both the town doctor and bank cashier Peter Dunn who took a plaster cast of its ‘great three-toed tracks.’
On the third night, a man spotted it perched atop a telephone pole. Another resident who saw it, described the monster as hopping like a kangaroo, while the local high school teacher likened it to a devil.
Scared and angered by what they had witnessed, the townsfolk followed the creature to an abandoned coal mine near an old brickyard where they heard a noise from the mine.
‘Presently the noise opened up again, as though Satan and a regiment of imps were coming forth for battle,’ reads an article in the Des Moines Daily News from Oct. 3, 1903.

May 15th, 2016 was supposed to be a fun day for 28-year-old Jerome Baker III and his six children. That day, Jerome planned to take his children to Six Flags in Eureka, Missouri. Before they could leave for their trip to the amusement park, Jerome seemingly vanished from his home in St. Louis. He was never seen alive by his loved ones again.
According to reports, a woman that Jerome was dating planned to join him and his children on the trip to Six Flags. The couple spent the morning at Jerome's residence, preparing for their day at the park. Then, around 10:00 AM, the woman borrowed Jerome's car, bringing one of his kids with her, to go pick up her own children for the trip.
After the woman left, Jerome called his best friend to ask if he could borrow his car to drive the rest of the children to Six Flags. His friend agreed, and subsequently drove over to Jerome's house so he could use the vehicle. When his friend arrived, approximately 11 minutes after their phone call ended, Jerome was nowhere to be found.
Most of Jerome's personal items, including his wallet, jacket, and extra cash were left behind. The only item that vanished with him was his cell phone - but all calls and texts to the phone went unanswered. Jerome's mother was alerted about her son's sudden absence, and as such, she went to his house to investigate. Once there, Jerome's mother noticed that there were drag marks in the dirt in her son's backyard.
Jerome was reported missing to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police. Unfortunately, the police's investigation did not yield any clues to Jerome's whereabouts. Months later, in October 2016, a utility worker found a human skull in a vacant dump site on Bircher Boulevard and Riverview Boulevard. The skull was later identified as that of Jerome Baker III. His remains were found an approximate 10-minutes' drive from his home. Jerome's death was classified as a homicide.
It's been reported that Jerome's mother has pleaded with police several times to take more action in her son's case. In fact, after Jerome vanished, his mother reportedly made "pleas to have her son’s phone pinged, with law enforcement initially giving her the runaround. When they finally acted, a chilling revelation emerged – a 911 call made on the day of Jerome’s disappearance captured him fighting for his life against multiple assailants."
Despite this information, there have been no arrests for Jerome's murder. No suspects or persons of interest have ever been publicly identified. The case remains unsolved, and Jerome's loved ones are left without answers. If you any information that could lead to the arrest of Jerome's killer(s), please contact St. Louis Police Department at (314) 444-5738.

Infamous Poisoning Cases: Solved and Unsolved
In November 2014, a Pennsylvania jury convicted Dr. Robert Ferrante of the April 2013 cyanide murder of his wife, neurologist Autumn Klein. Prosecutors were able to establish that Dr. Ferrante bought cyanide, ostensibly for stem cell experiments related to his research into ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and that he had come up with a plan to kill his wife because she wanted to have another child. He also may have believed she was planning to divorce him. Robert Ferrante was sentenced to life in prison in February 2015.
In April 2003, 16 members of Gustaf Adolph Evangelical Lutheran Church in the small farming community of New Sweden, Maine, fell gravely ill after a meeting where they'd had coffee brewed in an urn. Walter Reid Morrill, age 78, died from the side effects, and 15 other parishioners were seriously ill. Just five days after the fateful meeting, congregation member Daniel Bondeson, age 53, committed suicide. Bondeson killed himself with a rifle. He allegedly left a suicide note that read like a confession to the mass poisoning. The contents of Bondeson's note have never been made public, and the case is still considered unsolved.
He had moved on with life and was reporting for a Missouri radio station when James Keown was arrested for the 2004 antifreeze poisoning of his wife, Julie. The couple was living in Waltham, Massachusetts when Julie died, and that was where Keown went on trial in 2008. In court, jurors learned Keown had crippling debt and wanted the $250,000 payout from Julie's life insurance policy. His solution was a steady diet of antifreeze in her Gatorade.

In an interview with ABC News, John Ramsey shared a drawing JonBenet made during her last Sunday School class as a gift to her parents. The image shows a smiling JonBenet and Burke with baby Jesus in the manager. Above them, she drew the Christmas star, enthusiastically colored with a bright yellow crayon.
When asked what he thinks of when he sees this picture, John replied, “It makes me happy. I know that she was happy, and I know she was happy as a child. I told her every day that I loved her. So, she knew that I loved her and that she was loved. I think that’s reflected in the picture.”

Voynich Manuscript -
The Voynich manuscript is an enigmatic and mysterious book that has puzzled researchers, linguists, and cryptographers for centuries. Named after Wilfrid Voynich, a Polish book dealer who acquired it in 1912, the manuscript is believed to have been created in the early 15th century. It is named after him because he played a significant role in popularizing and bringing attention to the manuscript.
The Voynich manuscript is written on vellum (animal skin) and contains around 240 pages of text and illustrations. It is written in an unknown script that has not been deciphered, making it one of the most famous and enduring unsolved mysteries in the field of cryptography. The script consists of unusual characters and symbols arranged in a structured manner, resembling a written language, but one that remains unintelligible to researchers.
Accompanying the text are numerous illustrations of various plants, astronomical diagrams, astrological symbols, and surreal scenes featuring naked women bathing in pools or interacting with mysterious tubes and machinery. The botanical drawings, in particular, depict plants that do not resemble any known species, adding to the intrigue surrounding the manuscript.
Over the years, many theories have emerged about the origins and purpose of the Voynich manuscript. Some hypotheses suggest it was an elaborate hoax or an encrypted code containing valuable information, such as alchemical or herbal knowledge. Others propose that it is a constructed language or an unknown natural language. However, despite numerous attempts by scholars and cryptographers to decipher the text, no consensus has been reached regarding its meaning or origin.
The Voynich manuscript has been studied extensively by researchers, including codebreakers during World War II, professional cryptographers, and historians. It has been carbon-dated, confirming its medieval origin, and has undergone various forms of analysis, such as linguistic, statistical, and computational methods. However, no breakthroughs have occurred that definitively unlock the mysteries contained within its pages.
The manuscript is currently housed at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University, where it remains a subject of ongoing research and public fascination. Despite the lack of progress in deciphering its contents, the Voynich manuscript continues to captivate imaginations and stands as a testament to the enduring power of unsolved mysteries.

Crossroads
To dispose of work, throw it in the intersection of the crossroads and walk home without looking back to fix the work
3 kinds of crossroads
T - Male
X - Female
Y Divine/Damned
● Crossroad dirt is used to both draw and send away. It changes based on how you pray
● Female crossroads are used for all crossroads work. They are best for attracting female lovers
● The damned crossroads is the best place to meet spirits.
● The male crossroads are best work to draw male lovers
➢ To have an extraordinary talent or skill, tradition says you must go to the crossroads at midnight for 9 nights and practice your desired talent. On the 9th night a large black man may come to you. If he does, let him show you how to do your skill properly. Then you will have the greatest talent you seek
● A Y-shaped crossroads is the best place to meet spirits, leave offerings and do some types of conjure work
● Dirt from a Y-shaped crossroad can be used to call road-opening spirits, especially Papa Legba
● To send an urgent letter to someone you cant locate, write a message to them and burn at a Y-shaped crossroad
● To obtain favor from a specific spirit, leave an offering of the kind of things that spirit prefers along with the photograph at a Y-shaped crossroad
● If your lover beats you, write their name 9x on a piece of paper and nail it to a Y-shaped crossroad. A vengeance spirit will beat them in return until they leave you alone
● Mix dirt from a Y-shaped crossroad into road opener powder to make it more powerful
● Never bury a baptized doll at this Y-shaped crossroad. It will cause the spirit of the target to wander after they die
➢ To protect yourself from love spells, make an offering of coins or rum to the spirits of a T-Shaped crossroad
➢ Dirt form a T-shaped crossroad can be used for all love work on all men
➢ To have your enemy suffer harm, put their name on paper coated in honey on an ant hill at a T-shaped crossroad. They will be injured within 9 days
➢ If a man's nature has been tied, he must urinate on the center of T-shaped crossroad to make one who tied him sick until they untie him

Stranger Things: A Reading List of Unsolved Mysteries
Who doesn’t love an unsolved mystery? At Longreads, Lisa Bubert shares five stories that spark the imagination and ask us to wonder: What really happened?
Unsolved mysteries manage to be as irresistible as they are frustrating, stoking our imagination even while they tease our need for resolution. Faced with a story that refuses to tie everything into a neat bow, we chew on potential explanations until we find the one we like best — the one that satisfies all our biases, the one that allows us to bask in the knowledge that we (and only we) know what actually happened. A lack of answers may be maddening, but it also allows us to rewrite stories to our satisfaction.

The fall of 2007 was a tough time for Alma Mendez. The then-38-year-old woman had been dealing with the aftermath of her mother's brain aneurysm, which had occurred just months earlier. Additionally, Alma had separated from her husband of 19 years in early October. Despite these tough times, Alma remained a positive and dedicated mother to her three children. She also never deviated from her daily routine of jogging in the Sauk Trail Woods Forest Preserve near her home in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
The afternoon of October 28th, 2007 was no exception to this routine. As usual, Alma drove her car to the preserve and began jogging on the trail. This time, though, Alma never returned home. Her family members reported her missing that evening.
Police found Alma's car parked at the preserve. This indicated the likelihood that Alma either never left the area or was taken from the area by force. Searches were immediately launched in the preserve. Two days later, on October 30th, a searcher found Alma's body in the lake near the trail. An autopsy later confirmed that Alma's throat had been slit. She had also suffered several blunt force injuries.
Alma's death was subsequently labeled a homicide. The news of her death was inevitably devastating for her family members - and it also caused panic amongst locals in the area who now feared that a predator was on the loose. However, detectives believe that Alma's death was not random, and that she may have been targeted.
Many questions remain, such as who? And why? The information revealed throughout the investigation brings forth a few different theories.
