okay so:
the year is 2021. the month is june. the new season of hermitcraft, season 8, has just started, and everything is great! the hermits are all messing around, having fun, building insane things within the first week of the server being active, and generally having a good time. everyone's collected themselves into little factions, pranking each other, and it's all the fun, lighthearted, mostly-vanilla content hermitcraft is known for.
and then the split between minecraft versions 1.18 and 1.19 is announced. the delay of new terrain, and especially of new mobs like the warden, considerably disrupt several of the hermits' plans. but it's fine, they'll figure something out, they're professionals, and it mostly goes unnoticed.
about two weeks later, on november 9th, grian turns to mumbo jumbo in one of his episodes, and asks the famous question that would seal hermitcraft season 8's fate:
"mumbo, is the moon... big?"
suddenly, the fans panic. they search back through videos and streams, and realize that the moon had been abnormally large and stuck in a full-moon phase since october 30th. the Moon Big event has begun.
this is where the roleplay really starts. once the moon's size has been brought up, the hermits start a weird combination of scrambling to figure out why the moon's growing, and how to stop it- but also of ignoring it, hoping it won't be a problem, hoping someone else will deal with it. the moon keeps getting bigger, more hermits start realizing it's going on, and a creeping sense of dread starts to grow. but it's fine. it's fine, right? they do little plotlines like this all the time. they'll figure something out, the moon will go back to normal, and we'll laugh about it when this is all over. it's fine.
and then, blocks start flying away. just floating up out of the ground, and falling right back down! like for a moment, a square meter chunk of dirt has decided it's a ballerina and leaped out of the ground! but it's fine, right? the blocks are coming back. no lasting harm is done. they're going to fix it all... right?
the moon gets bigger. it's growing every day- local hermit weirdguy joe hills measures it every stream. the blocks start flying higher. gravity starts getting... weird, with players getting the slow falling effect at random, and being lifted off of the earth themselves. the players form cults and rituals and whatnot to try and appease the moon, convince it to leave them alone, making plans to escape. nothing works. things keep getting worse, and the moon keeps getting bigger. but it'll be fine. these storylines never leave lasting harm, or at least they never have before. they'll be fine.
and then the blocks stop coming back, just floating into the sky forever. the players have the slow falling effect more than they don't now. the moon is now so big it's visible even during the day, and fills the entire sky at night. they start planning their escapes in earnest, and say their goodbyes. some hermits jump into a void hole in the overworld (it was the centerpiece of their village). some flee to the End, some to the nether, some just fly with elytras and hope they can get far enough away in time. one brave hermit, tango, flies himself to the moon in a futile attempt to blow the whole thing up before it can crash.
Tumblr media
but in the end, the moon crashes into the server, and everything they'd built was destroyed. and the whole time, there'd been nothing any of them could've done. season eight was over, a full six months before anyone had expected it to end, and season nine wouldn't start until about three months later. and im still not okay about it.
(here's a cool animatic of the moon's crash! honestly i dont think you need too much hermitcraft knowledge to get the gist)
(also the moon crash happened on the day before my birthday lmao.)
….
holy shit

What do you reckon the timeline is for Sing 2? like, how many days do you think it takes place over?
Oh man this is a PERFECT question for someone who likes analysing tiny details like me!! Thank you!! Of course, I mainly used the Klaus/Johnny scenes the gauge the time passed…
The film starts with a performance at the theatre, and we see Buster trying to sleep later that night. That same night he rallies everyone together to get a bus to Redshore. The bus scene only transitions once from night to day, so we can assume it took them a good 6+ hours to get into Redshore. They arrive in Redshore the following morning, so that’s 1 day already just for travel.
Once in Redshore they immediately get involved with Jimmy Crystal. He gives them a deadline of three weeks to complete the show, but here’s where the timeline gets iffy. I’m pretty sure everything goes to shit before those three weeks are up. We then cut to the next morning because Buster opens with “Good morning” and claims Steve stayed up all night making the pop-up book plan for the show.
So that’s 2 days so far.
Later on we see Norman and the piglets arrive and it’s night time, and when we see Miss Crawly driving to Clay’s it’s daylight. So 3 days.
It’s night when Miss Crawly returns, but then in the immediate scene we have Johnny in Klaus’ class. We can see daylight through the windows and Johnny says he “was practicing all morning”, so it’s daytime. 4 days in.
Johnny spends all day in Klaus’ class, because when we see his panic attack, it’s night time. It then cuts to the next morning when he’s repaired his skateboard and meets Nooshy. 5 days.
He’s with Nooshy all day, and it’s evening/night time when he has a private dance practice with her. The following scenes involving Meena and Clay and Buster are during the day, so that’s 6 days now.
Once Buster leaves Clay, the rest of the film takes place all the way up to the same night, when Out of This World is performed. Then the time gets really inconsistent. It’s night time when they are performing, because we see Jimmy rushing to the theatre in his limo during the night. It seems to still be night when he’s arrested too. But it’s morning as the group leaves Redshore? So were they putting this show on at like 4am?? How did they fill a theatre of random animals wandering around at 4am lmao. That part doesn’t really make sense. Unless there was a huge time gap between Jimmy getting arrested and the group getting on the bus. But it takes us up to 7 days. Then we see them at the Majestic, but it’s probably a time skip as I doubt it’s that same day. We have no way of knowing how many days it takes for the Majestic show to happen.
So the film takes place over at least 7 days. It could be more if they did time skips, but that’s just based on what we see. So in a week, Buster manages to:
- Get his entire group to travel to another city
- Score a show
- Plan the entire show from scratch
- Locate Clay Calloway, who has apparently been impossible to find until then according to Ash
- I guess mad kudos to the stage hands who manage to make all these props and costumes in less than a week. Klaus had to choreograph the whole show in a few days; no wonder he’s so angry lol
- There’s a bit of a plot hole with how Marcus and gang got there so quick. We see him take Johnny’s phone call from his garage, which is in Calatonia. But we also see it takes a long ass time to get from Calatonia to Redshore, so I’m not sure how the gorillas got there in like… an hour max? I guess Marcus could speed the whole way there but it still seems a bit of a stretch. Honestly after watching this again and paying attention to the times, it feels like Illumination were making sure to be consistent right up until the final show, and then they just went with whatever.
TL;DR - 7 days from start of the film to leaving Redshore. Impossible to tell when the final show at the Majestic takes place.
Thank for the nice ask, good anon 🥹💖

if you'd like to see a fun little 👽👽 movie this Halloween, then boy do I have a link for you!!! :D
Riker Lynch's short film Aliens On Halloween is available to watch at the link above! It's all in a handy dandy playlist on tiktok.
oh, and if you're a Starkid fan it may interest you to know that Aliens On Halloween features the stunning talents of both Curt Mega and Kim Whalen, and they are both as fun as ever. 😘
The gist of the story is that two aliens are on a mission to retrieve human DNA, but whoa, it's Halloween, so they wind up going to a party. Also one of them is more chill & carefree (and maybe a little too into human pop culture) while the other one is Very Serious™ —one of the best character dynamics, tbh. (I didn't know I needed to see Curt as an awkward alien, but god, I really did. River my beloved <3)
I'd say it was a goofy little story with some nice wholesome moments, and just really enjoyable to watch. I loved it and I am definitely going to watch it again soon when I am less tired, lol.
now, if you wanna see it but don't use tiktok have no fear, because neither do I and I was able to watch it just fine! aaaaafter one failed attempt on my phone, lol. the videos Did Not Want To Play, but when I tried it on my laptop there were no issues, so! 😎👍🏻

La traversée (2021)
dir. Florence Miailhe
A small village looted in darkness, a family forced to flee. The two oldest children, Kyona and Adriel are quickly separated from their parents facing the road of exile alone. They embark on a journey which takes them from childhood to adolescence in search of shelter, peace and the hope of finding refuge and their family.
The writing of the film began in 2006 at the Royal Abbey of Notre-Dame de Fontevraud , where Florence Miailhe was invited in residence by Xavier Kawa-Topor.
Florence Miailhe is inspired by her family history and the sketchbooks of her mother, the painter Mireille Miailhe , but also by the drama of today's migrants, notably documented by her husband, the photographer Patrick Zachmann.
The writing of the film began in 2006 at the Royal Abbey of Notre-Dame de Fontevraud , where Florence Miailhe was invited in residence by Xavier Kawa-Topor. It took producer Dora Benousilio ten years to gather the necessary funding, while developing the project.
The film is made in animated painting, a technique which Florence Miailhe has made a specialty of.
«A poignant odyssey of migrant children, as if straight out of a painting by Chagall» -- Télérama

My head went up as soon as I heard that Gugu Mbathu Raw was on The One Show! Sounds like she's got a lot more to do than in Loki, I'm so happy because her presence was missed in Loki S2. I have got to watch her new show Lift, it sounds fun. (Also reinvigorated my desire to watch a Rafael Casal project, because he was also another amazing talent wasted. No doubt about it, I'm going to be watching shows that Sophia Di Martino's been in too!!!)
Fun fact: Gugu Mbatha-Raw was in Beauty and the Beast live action! I've had her in my mind since then because of her name
(I probably spelt most of the names wrong, too lazy to check though and that's not my point 😂)
I have a list of TV shows and movies to watch as long as both my arms...
Side note, Gugu looked fucking FABULOUS! The outfit istg. She's a queen
