SURPRISE TO NO ONE
MORE TROLLS (I stayed up til 4am doing this oops- this started cus I wanted to doodle troll snoots, then I wanted to include my headbands)
Tumblr media
some general notes : )
Davis + Iris are dating
Iris is a pop troll
Davis, Ghost + Escence are all nu-metal trolls
Escence helps Judas write songs
Iris crocheted the headbands her and Davis wear (based off some I actually own)
Martyr IS part country troll yes : )
All but Iris are colour picked from dif albums (Ghost, Evanescence + Slipknot to be specific)
Ghost + Escence are named after,,, Ghost + Evanescence,,, obviously
Davis is named after the lead singer of Korn
Yes thats a tablet pen in Davis mouth
Escence is also a treasure troll (belly gem)
Ghost is selective non-verbal
Martyr was basically raised by Judas
Both Iris + Davis have tooth gaps (which I didn't intend but ykno)
Escence + Martyr are the youngest (prob like mid-late teens)
and some species notes about nu-metal trolls:
just like real nu-metal, they're mixes of genres (typically rock, hip-hop, rap + funk are the ones most seen)
Not every nu-metal troll has wings; the more classical influence, the more likely they'll have wings
All nu-metal trolls have slit pupils
Country mixes with wings can't fly (sorry Martyr lmao)
I don't really have a consistent naming style for nu metal trolls? but I tend to pick names from bands, lead singers or songs (Martyr is named after a song btw)

What does your soul look like? OC Edition
I was tagged in this by @katsigian <3 Thank you.
You can find the quiz here.
Kyō: Blood in a lambs wool.
You're the victim, right? It hurts, everyday it hurts. It's obvious you're tainted, pulled into hell as soon as you stepped upon earth. You'll never know peace, you'll never know a life without violence. Im sorry. Wash your face and your hands, don't let your wounds carve deeper.
Llaufün: A cardboard box of blank photographs.
Where are you? Why are you hiding? What are you hiding? You're passive but there's something bubbling beneath that surface. Spit it out, be open with yourself, express your pain.
Gabriel: A pile of bubbles, an iridescent mess.
Well aren't you just all over? You're appealing but you're fragile, one wrong move and you lose all that you are. You were meant to be stepped on, broken, but the joy you bring to onlookers is unmatched. Do with that as you will and take very good care of yourself, have a snack.
Mr. Yellow Jacket: Dog teeth.
You're vicious, but you're afraid. You have to make the first punch, and make sure your opponent can't land one. But you need to stop seeing everyone as an enemy. The only one being violent is you, your anger and your defensiveness is killing you. Take a nap, rest your head and clear your mind. Come back in the morning.
Remedios and Valentín: A bird in a covered cage.
They left without you. Put you out of sight and therefore out of mind. You sing every morning like nothing's changed, talk to the walls to keep yourself company. Just you, the darkness and your own denial that you are completely alone. Nurse your wounds, get yourself some water.
I really like how the results match a lot of my Vs escence. <3
I'm tagging:
@cybervesna @olath124 @ouroboros-hideout @v-eats-bugs @neowolf
No pressure and with whatever character you want. :)

One piece live action review #1
There's a lot of good things but also some bad things. In general, I think the live action was really enjoyable, the pacing was good (maybe a little too fast but it's understandable why), almost every change fits good and for what I have seen, I think every main character and side characters feel in character withh their priginal counterparts.
The ost wasn't as great as our dear original ost but it was pretty good as well, the cinematography esencially is the best, not only in the one piece standsrt but in the anime live action standar, I would say it's on the same level of "Erased" cinematography.
Now, I have saiid a lot of good things of tecnical stuff but what about the story?
There wasn't a couple of changes that I pretty much enjoyed while watching it.
1. The way Luffy gets to introduced to Cobh, Alvida en everything.
Obviously, following the anime and manga route and reoolicating the exact movements and things to say would be leas to a cringey failure, we can't replicate anime expressions neither their comedic gags so they have to changed it and adapt it which was a great decision.
The scenes have the same vibe and love as the original but in a more "realistic" way to adapt to real people.
2. Luffy as a kid and his way to eat the gomu gomu no mi.
That kid nailed it completely in every way, he nailed it, did an incredible job replicating Luffy's stubborning and admiration for shanks, he was great and I like the way they made him eat his devil fruit.
Sure the scene is not as iconic as the original but it feels special and magic and also pretty funny.
The red shanks pirates nailed it as well, I think they showed the comfortable vibe that they have in the manga/anime.
3. Coby.
I think the best characterization from the first episode was Coby, the actor did a great job on portraying his fears and insecurities. It's a pity they couldn't show more of his participation.
4. Nami, Zoro and Luffy.
Their dynamic was really funny to see, I was worried at the beginning when I saw the first trailer but now nowing the context I understand why they changed it, still, their sheninigans were really funny and have a great chemistry.
5. Captain Morgan and Helmeppo.
They really adapted them well, in a really good way, I think they did a great job.
6. Buggy.
I don't need to clear nothing, good my hormones are crazy for that clown.
Now, even that I generally emjoyed the episode and adaptation, there were also things I didn't like.
*clearing that I am not taking account things like cgi because they actually did an incredible work with the cgi or stupid nitpickings but more like scenes that I think they could be make but they decide to not do it, as well as some (just one) characterization.
1. Luffy's characterization.
NOT HATE TO IÑAKI HE DID GREAT.
I understand why they couldn't adapt Luffy as the original, it would ended up horrible and cringey and Iñaki did a great job capturing Luffy escence and spirit, there were a few times that I thought:"Wow that's something Luffy would do" but in general, I do think his characterization is pretty oc, nothing that would stop me to watch the series but it something thag I had to say it, hell, even Oda himself admit that there were things Luffy wouldn't say or act but it was alright.
Please send love to Iñaki, it's another fellow mexican actor that I am supporting so this is not hate or anyhing.
2. Hopefully they change Garp's vibe.
I think since the very beginning in the original we knew that Garp wasn't normal lol but here he is so much more serious, I hope this is only a question to hide his relating to Luffy like Oda did in the manga with the whole dog mask.
3. This scenes.
Shanks and the bandit.
I don't think it was a bad scene but I think they could recreat the original scene with no so much problem, they added Zoro's fight with the baroque work member, so I doubt they couldn't recreate Shanks getting humilliation from the bandit.
More because it will become a single during Jaya arc, showing Luffy's grow and understanding towards his pirate life, we all knew this parallel and I think it is important because we really didn't need words to understand how much Luffy's view has changed, it's that subtle message that feels so close and personal to us.
The scene is good but it didn't have a lot of impact.
Zoro and the little girl.
They did a great job, everything is great and this little complain is more like a stupid nitpicking by myself but I think the scene is less impactful in so many ways even if it's the same, I understand why they changed but it's still, I enjoyed in generall but I haave to say this.
4. Haircolor
Sorry but I am actually ranting about this, the haircolors look so bad, it took me completely put, just bad, it looks fake for exception of Coby and maybe Zoro but god, I hate the way they made them look so bright and put of entonation.
Conclusion.
It was a good show, a great anime live action, easily one of the best in the list (sorry but for me Erased is the best LA) but an incredble adaptation, I can see the love and dedication and they did a fantastic work.
*Ps. I started laughing so hard with the den dem mushi.

The night prior to the wedding you didn’t try to put up resistance when Eijiro suggested you sleep in the same room, you didn’t want to fight it, not tonight when you needed some really good sleep.
You let him hold you close, buried your face against the crook of his neck, and shut the rest of the world out of the remainder of the night because morning would be there before you knew it. And with it, sheer chaos.
Rays of morning light had you waking up before your alarm started going off. Stirring in Eijiro’s arms and trying to use his chest as a shield. He moved wordlessly at first, tugging the blankets up over both your heads like it would fend off the day.
“Don’t get up just yet,” His arms coiling around you made it seem like you didn’t have much choice in the matter, “stay just a little longer.”
When he sounded like that, like you weren’t quite sure if he was really awake, you had no willpower to even think of arguing with him. Only settle down again, soaking in a few more precious moments.
By the time your alarm let out a noisy second warning, you knew you had to start getting ready regardless of how warm and cozy you both were. There was some whining and a flash of a pouting lip that you nearly kissed but crawled out of bed before any more of those ideas stirred inside your brain.
You’d completely taken over the secondary bedroom downstairs, makeup strewed out over the bed, trying to decide what look you wanted to go for while a variety of hair products and tools lined the bathroom sink.
Eijiro had it far easier. He’d shaved away the dark stubble, braided the sides of his hair neatly back off his face, and put on most of the ebony suit but leaving the jacket and vest on the hanger until it was time to leave. He was ready to go before your makeup was halfway done which was exactly what he’d planned for because he had a dress to ruin.
10:00am
When you were taking your shower the night before he stepped out on the balcony to consult with Mina. He had to make sure the plan he was cooking up wasn’t completely insane and, maybe Mina wasn’t the best person to consult but she was far better a choice than Katsuki, who really wouldn’t care what he was trying to do, or Denki who would have come up with something much more theatric.
Together they ironed out the details perfectly, all that was left to do now was execute it.
“I think we can both use some caffeine to get through today… want your usual?”
He had to keep himself physically rooted to the spot in your doorway. Surrounded by palettes and brushes, you sat in front of the floor length mirror in just a bra and leggings with your hair haphazardly pushed away from your face. It was a usual combo, one he was accustomed to seeing over the years, and yet it always managed to make his heart skip a beat.
“That’d be great. Thanks!” You tossed him a quick smile, looking at him in the mirror before returning to the task at hand and unknowingly, starting his as well.
There were forty minutes left until you were expected to be at the ceremony. Technically there was an hour but Eijiro wanted to factor in time to show up a bit early to appease your mother. He assumed the line at the little cafe would be long and he’d been right.
He found his way to the back of it, behind a couple with puffy vests and snow pants. In front of them was a group of five women in pale blush dresses, all matching, even their hair was done up the same way. Bridesmaids. They had to be. But, there was more than one wedding happening this weekend, there was a chance these weren’t the bridesmaids for the wedding you were attending.
“Hide me, please.” A small voice squeaked from behind him. He looked down over his shoulder and could just barely see the top of Avery’s head poking around him and staring at the group of girls, “I just wanna tea but they’re gonna tell me how cute I look and I don’t wanna be told how cute I look because then they’re gonna say I look better in dresses and-“
“Hey,” Eijiro turned around, his large frame making it easy to still block Avery from view, “Breathe for a second, okay?” They took a few deep inhales. “Good! Now, tell me what kinda tea you want and wait for me by the elevator.”
“You’d really do that?”
“Of course I will.”
The order was simple, just a green tea with honey, and then they were weaving their way out of the shop.
Another ten minutes had passed before he could place his order, and then he was lingering in the back again waiting for everything to be ready. Eijiro did his best to keep to himself but, he got the odd glance as well as the occasional flirty grin. Unfortunately, the grins happened to be coming from a certain group of pink clad women. Two of which decided to approach him.
“Hey there. Sorry to bother you but, you look familiar for some reason.”
He was used to people recognizing him in Japan but in America, it was still new to him.
“Yeah, you totally look like that one movie star,”
They probably saw him in passing on the news. “Not a movie star. Guess I’ve just got one of those faces.” And thankfully, before anything else could be said, his name was called and he was excusing himself. That should have been the end of it but apparently, they were persistent.
They decided to follow him out. “You hide the accent pretty well, seriously, your English is amazing.”
Now he was just getting annoyed. “Are you here for a big business meeting or a wedding maybe, or do you look this good all the time?”
“I am in town for a wedding, yes.”
“Well, maybe we could keep you company, show you around afterward.”
They batted long lashes in time with each other, fucking creepy. “Thanks but, I’ve got all the company I could want. In fact,” he held the tray of drinks up, “Should get this up to her.”
He could see Avery holding the elevator and darted for it with a curt nod. “Thanks.”
“My sister can be a real persistent pain, sorry.”
“Your sister?”
“Yeah, see, I’m the baby. Caroline is the oldest and she’s the one getting married tomorrow. Then Jocelyn is the middle.” They took a sip of tea, “Joce is the one who said your English was good.”
“Better be, I’ve been speaking it for as long as I’ve spoken Japanese… do I really have an accent when I talk? I thought I got rid of it years ago.”
“Barely. You speak it better than most American’s. Hey, why are you popping off the lid?”
Damn, he should have waited, “Letting the steam get out.”
“Kirishima… I might be a kid but I wasn’t born yesterday. That’s cold brew.”
“Riight…” Why was thinking fast never one of his strong points!
“You’re planning something.” A devious grin spread across Avery’s face. “Can I help! I’m really good at plotting!”
“As nice of an offer as that is, I think it’s best you stay outta this one. Might piss some people off and I don’t want you in the middle of it.”
Avery frowned as another floor ticked by. “Are you pissing Y/N off? That’s really not cool! She’s super awesome and you shouldn’t-“
“Take it easy! It’s not her! Well…”
“Well!”
“She might be a little mad at me! But it’s for her own good! If you saw the dress her mother wants her to wear compared to the one she brought with her-“ Avery held up a hand.
“Say no more.” They gestured to their own outfit, “Do you think I want to be wearing this? Heck no! I packed this navy pantsuit but then I got here and my mother made me put this on.” Their eyes went wide, “You-you’re gonna ruin her ugly dress. Pour the coffee on it like an accident! Then she’ll have to wear the pretty one! That’s genius!”
“You think so?”
“I think Y/N is gonna go into a panic so I hope you’re ready for that but, yeah, it’s a pretty solid plan. More believable if you have a witness though…”
He narrowed his eyes. “Are you offering to be my accomplice?”
Their face scrunched, “I don’t like the word accomplice, but, the chance to be Red Riot’s partner for the day? You bet I am!”
The doors slid open and Avery stepped off first. “She’s in the bedroom around the corner, you know what to do?”
Avery nodded and ran off yelling your name with an added, “Your favorite cousin has arrived!” They made sure to kick their shoes off on the other side of the island. Eijiro got both the drinks out and carefully placed the loose lid on one of them, while Avery pulled you from the bedroom.
He almost didn’t have to pretend to accidentally drop the coffee when he looked up and saw you in that dress, it nearly slipped from his grasp from shock alone.
Pretty sure you could wear a potato sack and as long as it’s on you I’d love it. He remembered telling you those exact words less than 24 hours ago and this dress… it made a potato sack look like high fashion. Burnt orange with puffed out sheer sleeves and a collared neckline that looked like it was trying to choke you. Spilling coffee on the thing might actually be an improvement!
“Okay, I won’t say anything else about my dress, you’ve got it so much worse.” Avery was laughing and you looked so damn defeated.
“About that coffee,” You looked over to him with pleading eyes, “I hope you got the biggest one they’ve got.”
Eijiro sucked in a quick breath, now or never.
“’Course I did!” He was careful not to squeeze it and walk right in the path of Avery’s shoes, tripping and letting the drink slip from his hand to catch himself on the counter at the last second. He heard you gasp, and then swear, and then saw the liquid drip into a puddle on the floor.
Avery was giggling, asking if you two were alright, and that probably was what sold it.
“I’m alright for now but I’m not gonna be! I don’t have time to get this out! Mom’s gonna murder me! Like, this is it for me. I should flee now.”
“Y/N I’m so sorry, that was totally my fault.”
“Actually, I think it was mine.” Avery piped up, “I think it was my shoes that made you fall.”
You closed your eyes and took in a slow deep breath. “It’s alright. Accidents happen. Yeah…” You started walking back to the bedroom, “I don’t have time to fix this so I’ll just wear the one from Tetsu’s wedding and-“
“NO!” Eijiro shouted, “I, I just mean, what about the red one… you know, you like it so much and if you can’t wear this one then you should wear the one you really like.”
“Doesn’t matter what I like. Tetsu’s fits the theme better anyways.”
Eijiro crossed the room you to, holding both your hands in his, and spoke quietly with a serious edge, “Do not make me go get that other cup of coffee off the counter. I will.”
You blinked up at him, quickly figuring out his plan. “You did this on purpose?”
“I wanted you to have the chance to wear what you wanna and now you do. Doesn’t really matter how it happened, does it?” He gave his best cheesy smile and thankfully it was enough.
“I should be really mad at you. I’m probably gonna catch a whole lotta hell for this.”
“It was an accident, I tripped, we even have a very reliable witness!”
“Avery was in on it too!”
He rubbed at the back of his neck while you started to undo the little buttons at the base of your neck. “They wanted to help… speaking of help, you look like you could use some.” You were tugging at the zipper, “C’mon, don’t be stubborn, turn around and let me help.”
You spun around and he could see the layer of tulle stuck in the zipper. He tried being careful, lightly pulling but nothing seemed to work and your wiggling was making the whole process much more difficult than it should have been.
“Stop moving for a sec-“
“Can’t help it. You’re pulling so tight it’s choking-“
“’M sorry but it isn’t budging-“
He heard the tiniest rip, your heel snagging some of the fabric in your scramble and so he stopped for a second, pressing you against his front. “Relax for me,” He could still see the rapid rise and fall of your chest but you stilled, “Good.”
“Eiji, please, just tear the damn thing. Get it off me. I don’t care.”
His quirk wasn’t even needed. One good yank was all it took to come apart. The sound filling the room almost masked your little gasp but Eijiro heard the breathy little noise leave you. It brought back vivid memories of other times he’d pulled that sound from you, his cock stirring at the thought. There wasn’t time for that now though.
“Aren’t you guys supposed to wait until after the wedding to rip each other’s clothes off?” Both of you spun around to see Avery leaning against the door frame, drink still in hand and grinning like a cat.
Eijiro cleared his throat, politely asking if you needed help with anything else before abruptly leaving you to get changed with Avery following him out.
“So,” Avery swirled the tea around, “you and my cousin…”
“We’re just friends.” Eijiro stuck to the story.
“Yeah. I don’t think so.”
“Hate to break it to you, kid, but what you think doesn’t really have much to do with it.”
They shrugged. “Maybe not. But, if you are just friends, you shouldn’t look so in stupid, silly, sappy love with her all the time. It really gives you guys away.”
But that was the problem, Eijiro was in stupid, silly, sappy love with you. And it was written all over his face the moment you stepped out of the bedroom in that red dress again. Stealing his breath away just like you’d done the night before. His eyes lingered over your curves, the way your shoulders were left bare only to have your arms covered to the wrists and the dainty pearl buttons there. Even though it was velvet, the tiny bits of glitter made the dress shimmer when you walked, sparkling in the sunlight coming in through the windows.
“You two are hopeless.” Avery muttered, “Alright love birds, time to go.”
“Avery, you go ahead. We’ll follow you in a sec.” He saw your quizzical stare but you still urged Avery to head out.
“It’s alright. We’ll be right behind you.”
“Better be! I don’t wanna hear auntie throwing a fit. Mom said I’m not allowed to have my headphones until after the ceremony.” They complained until the elevator arrived, “BE QUICK WITH THE SEX.”
You both shared a laugh once the doors closed before turning back around to Eijiro and asking him what was wrong.
“Nothing,” He quickly said, and pulled out a small paper bag from where he’d stashed it in the cupboard earlier that morning, “I just wanted to give you this.”
He watched as you opened the pale blue bag, pulled away the silver ribbon, and reached in to pull out the slender box. You lifted the lid and peeled back the crate paper. “Oh… Eijiro, this is from that shop in town, I saw it yesterday!”
“I know you did,” He chuckled and motioned for you to spin around, “You circled back to it like five times.”
“But, when did you have time?”
“Before I met you at the sweets shop.” The latch slid easily in place, settling at the base of your neck. “And people say I can’t be sneaky.” You spun in front of him, the gemstone between your thumb and forefinger. “You still like it, right?”
“I love it. It’s my favorite color. I didn’t even think to get it though.”
“I figured. You’ve been a little preoccupied worrying about a bunch of other stuff. I thought you deserved something for yourself.”
His cheeks warmed when your lips pressed against them. “Thank you, Eiji. I love it.”
He slipped his hand into yours with a goofy grin. “Let’s get this wedding over with.”
10:50AM
For being a last minute wedding, there had to be nearly two hundred people in the hall when you and Eijiro arrived. People were taking their seats, chatting amongst themselves while soft music swayed around.
“Do you need to be up front with family?” Eijiro leaned down to ask you.
“My mother didn’t tell me I had to,” you quickly looked around and found a few seats open near the back, “this way we can leave faster.” He just chuckled and let you pull him along, both of you ignoring the lingering looks you were being tossed. Except there was one set of eyes you couldn’t avoid, your mother’s.
Furious. They were dark and full of anger watching you take a seat in the back of the hall. “Remember, the dress is completely ruined, there’s nothing you could have done.” His hand was on your knee when she started walking forward only to be stopped by her sister, shuffling her away.
“Crisis averted, for now.”
“I’ll try to keep her off your tail.” You hadn’t even heard the wheelchair by your side, turning to face the silver haired man and giving him a hurried hug.
“Gramps!”
“Hey there, kiddo. ‘S good to see you.” You’d spun to face him. He had a few more wrinkles than you remembered but his smile still remained youthful somehow. “Gonna introduce me to this handsome man or am I just supposed to guess his name?”
Eijiro was quick to reach his hand around you with an introduction on his tongue. Your grandfather shook his hand with a great deal of enthusiasm. “Must be a real good friend to fly all the way here with my granddaughter for this shit show.”
Eijiro choked on a laugh. “Grandpa!”
“What! They wanna kick me out, fine, let ‘em. I got far better things I could be doing.”
“Dad,” You looked up to see Avery’s mother taking the handles of his wheelchair, “you need to be nice today. Come on, we’ve got you a seat right up front so you can see Caroline in that beautiful gown.”
The elderly man grumbled while he was pushed away, your aunt not even acknowledging your existence. “See you, kiddo!”
“Well, I thought he was plenty nice.” Eijiro was still laughing after they’d left.
“My grandfather isn’t one to take shit from anyone. Been a little harder since he has to be in that wheelchair now but it doesn’t stop him from speaking his mind.”
You could have shared hundreds of funny tales about the old man but then the music changed, rose to a swell in signal for everyone to quiet down, the bride had arrived.
11:10AM
As much as it pained you to admit it, your cousin, Caroline, did look beautiful in her wedding gown of pure white but, you couldn’t think of a time the woman didn’t look stunning. She practically glided down the aisle on her father’s arm, and, even though you tried really hard, you couldn’t spot a single sign of her baby bump.
Caroline took her place beside her husband-to-be while the crowd was seated and the ceremony could begin.
Five minutes ticked by, and then ten, pretty soon a half hour had passed and all the words were starting to just mush together. They hadn’t even gotten to the vows yet. You pulled at Eijiro’s sleeve again to see the time on his watch, nearly an hour of this.
“Can you just wake me when it’s over?” You whispered making him smile and put an arm around you.
“Never understood what takes so long. Like, welcome everyone, thanks for being here, these two people love each other, kiss, it’s official, let’s eat. Why can’t it be that simple?”
“I like the way you think.” You sighed and looked on at the bridal party. The men in their dark suits with blush ties to match all the bridesmaids. “Man, my cousin is already glaring at me. I haven’t even seen her and she’s already got an attitude.”
“You’ve got a lot of cousins, which one?”
“Avery’s middle sister, she’s the bridesmaid third from the end.” His eyes lifted to the row of women, “Oh, I met her earlier.” You looked at him then, “When I went to get coffee. Her and the one to her left came up to talk to me.”
You didn’t know the other woman he mentioned, probably a sorority sister, if you had to guess. Still didn’t make sense why she’d be shooting daggers at you though. “What’d she say?”
“Just small talk…” You narrowed your eyes at him and he folded like a deck of cards, “They asked if I was here for the wedding and if they could keep me company. I said I was already with someone though.”
Great. So, you had something they wanted. It was bad enough as children when you had a game or a toy they wanted… you could only imagine how it would be with an actual person.
12:35 pm
“Finally!” You groaned dipping out of the hall just after the bridal party had gone by. Taking to a corner of the lobby with Eijiro by your side. “I think I need another coffee just to stay awake.”
Before you could suggest making a stop by the cafe, the shrill snap of your name had you frozen to the spot. You can see the shift in Eijiro’s posture beside you, it’s a reflex by now to start to guard the moment he or a friend is threatened, even if that threat is your own mother.
“Just what do you think you’re doing? You’ve had your fun, now get back up to that room and put on the dress you were told to wear. Now.”
You swallowed thickly, ready to speak and explain what had happened but when you opened your mouth, Eijiro cut you off, “It was my fault, ma’am.”
Her frigid eyes turned on him then, “You?”
“Yes, Y/N had nothing to do with it. I tripped this morning and spilled something on it. Coffee to be exact.” Eijiro explained with his head bowed. “We couldn’t get the stain out in time. I’m very, very sorry.”
“It’s true!” Avery ran over, colliding with your legs, “I saw it happen, auntie! He tripped right in the kitchen.”
“I’d be more than happy to reimburse you the cost of the dress since it’s my fault it’s ruined.”
Your mother scoffed, “As if you could afford what it cost.” Avery chuckled, knowing more about Eijiro than they probably should thanks to their love of heroes, but your mother only continued to make assumptions, “Probably spent all your savings just to get that penthouse thinking that would impress my daughter. Silly boy, Y/N has never appreciated the finer things in life, so, a bit of advice; don’t waste what little finances you’ve got left on her.”
Eijiro’s jaw was set tight, and you knew he was biting his tongue, probably hard enough to draw blood. But, when he spoke, his words were calm and carefully selected. “You’re right, the penthouse didn’t impress her, money doesn’t impress her at all! Y/N has always loved the simpler things in life, like when her favorite song comes on the radio or when she’s driving with the windows down on warm summer nights. She can find beauty in the simplest things and I think that’s amazing.”
“Wow…” Avery voiced the word that caught in your throat but, your mother was less than impressed, she wasn’t even amused, just rolling her eyes letting them settle back on you.
“Well, it’s obvious you won’t be in any of the family photos looking like that. You don’t match and it would ruin everything. Just, go to the cocktail hour and try not to embarrass me anymore. Avery, you’re expected to be out front in ten minutes for the shuttle to take us to the photo location. Do not be late.”
“Do not be late.” They mimicked when your mother was barely out of earshot.
“It’d be really unmanly of me to punch your mother, right? Like even if she is being a raging cu-“ You clamped a hand over Eijiro’s mouth before he could finish the word.
“Yeah, Ei, it would be, but thanks though.”
1:00 pm
The cocktail hour was held in a beautiful atrium, surrounded by vast windows looking out to the slopes blanketed in white. Tall heaters with enclosed golden flames chased the chill away. A spiral staircase climbed up and around a vast tree to an overlook, overflowing with greenery and flowers of beautiful shades.
It wasn’t long before the main floor was flooded with guests and people started taking to the outdoor balcony. Family friends you barely recognized did a double take when you walked by but no one stopped to say a thing to you.
Arm in arm with Eijiro you navigated around the pretty tables, making a b line for the staircase. He took the steps slowly, mindful of the way you gathered your dress in your free hand to avoid any incidents.
“I actually remember this project,” He told you once you’d reached the top. His hands ran across the wooden finish of the balustrade, fingers catching in the tiny leaves and vines that had been carved into the whole thing, “My mom asked me what pattern I liked better. It was between this and some little birds. I didn’t have a clue what it was for though.”
You had the opportunity to see a few of the buildings Mrs. Kirishima had designed over the years, more so you’d seen the blueprints and mock ups littered around their home when you visited but actually getting to see and be inside the finished projects, each of them were a work of art.
“It’s obvious she loves what she does, Eijiro. Everything about this place is beautiful, right down to the tiny little leaves.”
His eyes crinkled with a grin, accepting two drinks that were offered while you kept looking around. “Is that a tunnel?”
“It is, yeah! I think it’s just supposed to be more walkway that looks down on the floor below with these little windows. I don’t know if it’s blocked off though…”
“Do you remember the blueprint well enough to get to it?”
There was a twinkle in his eye, just a little bit of mischief that you adored, and he was taking your hand. ‘Cuse me’, and, ‘Pardon us,’ left his mouth when he weaved around bodies, leading you behind flowing shrubbery, grabbing a couple finger sandwiches off a tray you passed.
“Think this is it.” He mumbled and pulled back a curtain of vines. It wasn’t off limits per se, just well hidden.
“Alright. It’s official.” You declared, “Your mother unknowingly saved me tonight and I’ll be hiding up here for the rest of the evening.”
Looking back at him, you noticed he couldn’t even stand to his full height in here. “Gonna leave Avery to fend for themselves all night… no backup?”
He knew just how to guilt you. You peered out a window carved into the faux wooden tree trunk of a tunnel. It provided you with a perfect view of the doors leading into the atrium. “I can keep an eye out for them from here… might need to slip out for more drinks though.”
“And these sandwiches,” He popped a whole one in his mouth, “They’re delicious but so small.” He handed you the last one, “I’m gonna grab a couple more. I’d tell you not to go anywhere but there’s really no point.”
He was right, there wasn’t. You stayed in the tunnel, lit with hundreds of warm yellow lights that reminded you of fireflies with the way they pulsed, light slowly dimming only to glow bright a few seconds later. You slid down the smooth wall, opting to look out the window obviously meant for a child, and noticed even more of those little carvings Eijiro had pointed out. They framed the windows, twisting all around the lights. Flowers and birds, you even spotted a fawn and a little raccoon.
You heard voices on the other side of the vines and quickly scrambled back to your feet just as Eijiro walked back in… a bridesmaid, trailing behind him giggling. In the dim light, you saw him mouth ‘sorry’.
He handed you one of the drinks and you had to restrain yourself from downing it in one go.
“Oh! You’re Caro’s cousin, right! I thought all the family left for photos. We bridesmaid's already got all ours so… here I am.”
Her whiny voice made you wanna stick your fingers in your ears. “Here you are, yeah.”
Suddenly your peaceful little tunnel was full of awkward air. “Isn’t this place so pretty? It’s really romantic too. Don’t you think?” Her hand was on Eijiro’s chest, looking up at him in a way that had your stomach churning.
“I can see how you’d think that, yeah.”
“So, like, how’d you two meet?”
“We went to school together.” You answered bluntly.
“Oh, so college?”
“High school.” Eijiro corrected. “Been close ever since. We work together now too.”
She nodded giving him all her attention, hand running down his torso. “What do you do?”
He shot you a look like he was surprised this woman didn’t know what you did if she knew who you were. “We’re both Pro Heroes in Japan.”
The woman furrowed her brow, “Really?” Her fingers pressed slightly against Eijiro’s abs making him take a step back, hitting the curve of the tunnel, “I mean, that makes total sense for you, but, you?” She finally looked in your direction, “What even is your quirk?”
You sucked in a deep breath, trying to keep a lid on your emotions. Eijiro gave you a quick nod, one that you knew well enough from years of working together. Get outta here. I can handle this. You always felt like shit doing so but it beat making a scene this early in the event.
“I’m really great at getting outta places I don’t wanna be.” And with that, you blinked and were back on the first floor. Tucked away under a part of the stairwell.
“Y/N?” You looked up to see Avery’s mother had come back already. An itinerary in hand because she had to be in charge of everything. “Using your quirk? You know that isn’t allowed. You’re not licensed here.” She rolled her eyes in exactly the same way your mother did. “You always were careless, I don’t know why I’m surprised.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be one of their sidekicks over there?” Your uncle chimed in, putting a hand on his wife’s shoulder. “I thought you’d know basic rules.”
“I’m a pro hero over there actually.”
He laughed and you could already smell the bourbon on his breath. “Well, that’s worse than, isn’t it!” But, then his dark eyes narrowed. “Don’t do it again. Or I’ll call whatever little agency you work for and have you suspended. You’re not ruining my daughter’s wedding day.”
A part of you really wanted him to call, really hoped it would be Katsuki on the other line, scream at him about how you were licensed internationally. But, you only nodded your head. “Good.”
It was a few minutes later that Eijiro had found you, still under the stairs.
“I told her I was with you, I was your date.” He quickly blurted, “I know we said just let people think what they want to but I didn’t like what she was thinking. So, I kinda just told her I was with you and then left… really fast.”
You wound your arms tightly around him. “I don’t care, Eiji. Thank you.”
He stayed glued to your side for the rest of the cocktail hour. Afternoon getting later and later, more of your family arriving back. Avery found their way to you, telling you how you were so lucky to miss pictures. It was cold and how hungry they were. It was only then that Eijiro left you, just to get them something to eat.
4:00 pm
Everyone was ushered back into the hall the ceremony had been held in only now it had been transformed for dinner and dancing. Tables with tall floral centerpieces surrounded the large wooden dance floor. Soft pink and purple lighting illuminated the walls. It was really a shame it was for such a bitter human because the atmosphere was breathtaking.
By some stroke of luck, seats were not assigned, leaving you, Eijiro, and Avery to find a table in the back with a few random strangers.
But, it was on your way back from having a word with your grandfather that you heard the first whispers.
He’s projected to be in the top ten by next year!
Did you know his mother made this hotel?! I overheard him talking and googled it! His family is loaded!
He didn’t even need to be a hero.
He certainly doesn’t need to be here with her…
Your head turned hearing the final voice, your aunt again, looking right at you as she said it.
You just shook it off and found your place at the round table between Avery and Eijiro. Fiddling with the shimmering tablecloth, you put everyone else out of your mind for the time being. You just needed to get through dinner and then you could run back to your room and put this day behind you for good.
But, dinner consisted of relatives you hadn’t seen in you couldn’t remember how long, stopping to talk to you. Asking where you’d been, how you were doing, all the basics.
“It’s kinda weird how little your family actually knows about you,” Eijiro said, slicing into another bit of steak.
Maybe to him it was but you were used to it by now. “Out of sight, out of mind.” You shrugged. “I didn’t do anything my mother could be proud of. I didn’t fit in. She was happy when I got into UA because that meant she didn’t have to deal with me anymore.”
Avery put their silverware down and hugged onto your arm. “’M sorry.” You hugged them right back because if anyone knew what this was like, it was them. You hated seeing the struggles they went through, knowing perfectly well what it was like to be the odd duck of the family and wanting nothing more than to just be accepted.
“It gets better.”
“You should see her when she’s not around all them,” Eijiro grinned, “When she’s got people around who have her back and know how wonderful she is.”
“I already know. I see you on the news all the time. You look so happy and badass.”
“I am happy and badass.”
“Could have fooled me.” Caroline stood in her gorgeous white dress across the table with the ugliest scowl on her face. “Do not go putting any ideas into my baby sister’s head about running off and being a hero. You got lucky, really, really lucky getting into that program, had to go all the way to a different country just to find a school that would take you. The chances of her getting that lucky are practically zero.”
Avery shrank in the seat beside you and Eijiro threw his napkin off his lap but you stood first. “They can do whatever they put their mind to. Your sibling has one hell of a quirk and if they decide to be a pro hero then the world will be lucky to have them. I won’t have you tearing them down like you tried to do me all those years. Not all of us wanna be some trophy wife. Get over yourself.”
“Like anyone would ever want you as a wife.” Her eyes glanced over to Eijiro, “Bet he’s just here out of pity. Number one on the most eligible pro hero bachelor list and he picks you, yeah, I don’t think so.”
“Number one?” You looked at Eijiro and he shrugged.
“Izuku is officially off the market now since him and Kat went public, bumped me up to first I guess.”
“Congratulations!”
“Thanks!”
Caroline groaned and finally walked away.
“Thank you,” Avery mumbled and you pulled them into your lap.
“Just gotta ignore her if she refuses to see you for who you are, remember?” They nodded. “I know it’s hard.”
“’M gonna go to UA just like you did. Gonna be a hero too and get away from all of them.”
Eijiro had a hand on their back. “We’ll do whatever we can to help you. Maybe if we bug Aizawa enough we can get them in on a recommendation.”
Their eyes lit up. “Eraserhead!” And then you were telling them about all the different teachers you had up until the newlyweds were called to the dance floor for their first dance.
5:15 pm
More people were called to the floor to join them, couples soon filling every corner of the floor and Avery was not-so-subtly nudging Eijiro with their foot under the table.
“Would you like to dance?” Eijiro asked you with a grin, holding his hand out like a perfect gentleman.
Avery began pushing you even after you agreed, hurrying the two of you on the dance floor.
It was crowded enough that you weren’t even on the wooden floor but that didn’t stop Eijiro from pulling you close like he’d done in the penthouse last night. The movements were smaller, kept in a tight swaying circle between two tables. You could feel his thumb brushing the bare skin of your back where the dress dipped low.
“Thank you… for everything.”
“You don’t have to thank me.” He smiled, “all things considered, it hasn’t been that bad. So, today has been kinda rough but, I had a great time with you yesterday and we can make the most out of tomorrow too.”
“We’ve got brunch.” You reminded him and he scrunched his nose.
“Do we though? I’m sure they make great food here but I’d be down for hitting that diner again!”
Skipping it did sound really appealing. “What happened to not leaving Avery?”
“Kidnap them for the day!”
“Right! My uncle already threatened to try and have my license suspended once tonight, I’m sure kidnapping his child will go over great!”
“HE WHAT!”
The music changed, sped up as you explained the interaction with your aunt and uncle making him shake his head and spin you around, jumping with you to the beat.
Pretty soon you were waving Avery over to join you. The songs all blended together, you could hardly tell where one ended and another began. The exception being the slow numbers where Avery now rocked back and forth on the tops of Eijiro’s feet between the two of you.
You pulled him aside after the cupid shuffle when sweat was dripping from both your brows and he had to abandon his jacket, even his vest came off. A plan was formed; he and Avery were gonna get drinks at the bar while you split off for a bathroom break.
It shouldn’t have been a surprise based on everything else you had seen of the resort but even the bathrooms were stunning. You admired the curved design of the ironwork on the stall door as you adjusted your dress when a group burst in. A wave of blush and white flooded the room, the bride and her maids, you could see the bottoms of their dresses under the stall door.
Caroline and two of her maids went for the handicap stall. They needed all the room they could get with the size of her dress, still shouting and gossiping enough that you wanted to stay in the stall until they cleared back out.
“I think the blonde groomsman really likes me!” One of them was going on, “He had his hands on my ass for like two whole songs!”
“His sister is really cute! I might shoot my shot with her! She looks so fine in that tight dress!”
You nearly smashed your head against the door.
“I still like that pretty redhead hero.” It was that same damn girl from earlier, you knew that stupid whiny ass voice.
“Just go for it then!” Caroline called from the stall. “He’s just with Y/N, he has to know he can do so much better.”
“Right! And I am so much better! Look at me!” They all cheered. “Imma show him how good he could really have it!”
Jocelyn rallied her friend, “Get him, girl! He’d happily take you over her, plus, you’re a bridesmaid! That’s like, every guy's fantasy, right? To fuck a bridesmaid!”
That was all you could handle. Enough was enough. You slid the lock on the stall door and stepped out to a bunch of little shocked gasps but no one said a word, only Caroline asking, “what the fuck is going on?“
You washed your hands, pumping the lavender soap into your palm, and letting it suds under the water, taking your time while they watched you in the mirror. “Seriously! What the fuck is happening!”
When you were drying your hands, your eyes made contact with the woman from the tunnel, and something possessed her to walk forward, right between you and the door.
“He might be your date, but, I’ll be leaving with him.”
You took a breath to calm yourself. “You’re really bad at listening, aren’t you?” She looked at you like you you were growing a second head. “I’m good at getting outta places I don’t wanna be, remember?” Except you didn’t use your quirk this time, you merely brushed past her. “Oh, and good luck with Eijiro. You’re gonna need it.”
An indignant whine followed you out of the restroom and you knew it wouldn’t be long before you were followed. That’s why you went straight for the bar, eyes scanning the group of people until you found your person.
He’d been with Avery still, talking with his back towards you and you didn’t think as your name was being called by a very angry bridesmaid. All you did was tug on his arm like you’d done on the airplane, whirling him around to face you but this time, you didn’t jam a finger into his chest. This time your fingers curled around his tie and you yanked him down, kissing him, hard.
“Y/N!” Your name was called again but you kept your lips on Eijiro’s, a hand on his cheek while Avery ran around you both.
“Y/N’s a little busy right now. You can come back later. Bye now.”
You still had a hold of his tie but needed air, breaking apart for a moment, panting. “Not that I’m complaining but, uh, I thought we weren’t doing this until we talked… until Sunday.”
“I got jealous.” You had no problem admitting.
“Jealous?”
“Things were said in the bathroom, she wanted to try and sleep with you and, and, I, I didn’t-“
He cradled your face in his hands and crashed his lips back against yours, not needing any further explanation. His tongue slid easily into your mouth and your eyes drifted closed loving every bit of it. It vaguely crossed your mind that there were at least a few onlookers, maybe more but, when he moved, bent you into a dip to make a show of the whole thing, you didn’t care a single bit.
“C’mon.” He breathed heavily, pulling you back out on the dance floor to get away from the group, not giving a damn about the screaming bridesmaid looking like a fool.
Eijiro had you back in his arms, kissing you and moving to the music perfectly. “Ya know, you don’t have anything to worry about right? You’ve got all my attention. I know we said we’d talk about everything, and we’ve been blurring lines these last few days, but I wanna make it perfectly clear right now that you’re the only one I’m interested in. The only person I want. Here at this party, in the whole fucking universe,” He had his hand on your cheek making sure you were looking right at him, “I don’t know how to make it more clear. Only you.”
“Screw Sunday,” You muttered and kissed him again, slower this time, wrapping your arms around his neck.
Then someone was clearing their throat and you heard comments about making such a scene.
“Let’s get outta here for a bit.” Eijiro took your hand and his coat and whisked you out of the hall.
7:35 pm
Maybe a little part of you was let down that he didn’t lead you off in the direction of the elevator but rather to the front doors of the resort, sliding his jacket over your shoulders instead of his own. In a way, this was better. The cool air cleared your head, felt great against your heated skin.
“So, screw Sunday?” He chuckled, keeping an arm around your waist when he saw the little patches of ice on the ground.
“I think we both know what we want, Eijiro. I don’t really need to wait until tomorrow to confirm that.” It had only been growing more and more painfully obvious to you over the last couple of days. “Still, there’s a lot of history between us to just go diving into things…”
He slowly nodded his head and you guys talked about it. All of it. Everything was brought out and into the open.
The fact you both had crushes on the other in high school, “Tetsutetsu liked me! Seriously!”
“Yeah!” Eijiro laughed, “Like, a lot! He told me he was gonna tell you and ask you on a date, I’m not sure why he never did.” You weren’t sure either but you could take a guess it had something to do with Kendo.
“And you didn’t tell me about your crush on me because of him…”
“And you didn’t tell me about yours on me because of Katsuki…”
You told him how it damn near broke your heart watching him fall in love with Katsuki but how it scared you, even more, the thought of losing him as a friend. That even after they broke up and you knew you still had feelings for him you were still too scared to admit it, not wanting to ruin your friendship.
The two of you had walked down a path, snow dusted but lit with lamplight and moonglow. “I’m probably an ass for saying this but, you’ve always meant more to me than Katsuki ever did. I spent three years with the guy, I was in love with him, but it took him breaking my heart and explaining what he felt for Izuku for me to realize I felt the same thing for you.”
He took your hand but still couldn’t quite meet your eye. “I wanted to tell you that night him and I split. I didn’t know how, there was a lot goin’ on in my head and fear got the better of me. I didn’t know what was gonna happen with my friendship with Kat and if you didn’t feel the same and I lost you too…”
“Eijiro,” you stood on tiptoes, only able to reach his jaw to kiss, “Not that it matters much now but I’ve always thought I couldn’t compare to what you had with Katsuki.”
“That’s because you don’t compare. You’ve always meant more to me, even when I didn’t know it.”
There was a buzzing in your head when he brought you up to a kiss, damn near dizzying when mixed with his words that you were still processing as cold fingers cupped your cheeks. “I want this,” he mumbled between another kiss, “I want you,” and then another,
“Even after you met my crazy ass family?” You chuckled and he caught the infectious laugh.
“Yeah, they don’t scare me.” He pushed your hair back behind your ear. “Admitting all this was the scariest thing I’ve ever done.”
You seriously doubted that will all the villains you two had faced but you definitely knew what he meant. But, now that the air was clear, intentions laid out, the fears that had been suffocating you for years were hardly there, banished to distant corners of your mind. You were confident that if they ever dared show themselves again, Eijiro would just chase them away.
And so you pulled him down to you, “I want you too, Eiji.”
“Heh, you’ve had me for a real long time now.”
Nearly an hour had passed before you walked up the path again back to the resort. Snow had started to fall in thick clumps now, clinging to both your hair and clothes. You could see the lights of the wedding still going on inside and even though you really didn’t want to head back there, you at least wanted to see Avery and your grandfather again before the night was over.
“Hell, look at that car, they’re driving like a jackass.” Eijiro shook his head watching the car driving towards you both, speeding and swerving horribly, nearly hitting two parked cars in the process.
“Drunk or texting?”
“Either way we should do something, right?”
Before you had a chance to answer, a person stepped into the crosswalk, flashing yellow lights that should have signaled the car to slow down, they didn’t though… but your whole world did.
Illuminated in the headlights was Avery, headphones in their ears, looking down at the game in their hands.
“GO!” Eijiro shouted knowing you could get to them faster but you were already gone.

A/N: I wanted to do something special for this chapter and draw Y/N's red dress. But, because it's a Reader Insert, I didn't really know what to make them look like... so, I let google decide! I wrote down a punch of physical traits and let google randomly select what the Reader would look like for this particular artwork. I hope you all like it ❤️

Four weeks later, the receptionist of your apartment complex hands you over a cardboard box with the hoodie Jungkook and you had talked about that day on the Han River. Jungkook kept pestering you to please please please send him your address for confidential purposes, which you knew had to do with his determination to literally provide anything that catches your eye right away. You assumed it was a sensitive topic for the boy whether people had purposefully taken advantage of his money before, so you didn’t dare to say anything when the man asked you for your size literally two hours after he dropped you off, scared to either reject his solidare intentions or piss him off for bringing unwanted memories back. In  your defense, your personality type keeps oscillating between INFP and INFJ so it’s only natural that you take extra care to make sure those around you have as much peace of mind as possible in your presence.
As pretty and comfortable the piece of soft clothing is, an important factor is missing, something that you can’t recreate buying two of the same size and color, and that is Jungkook's escence and how good it looks on him in comparison to anyone else in the world. Meaning, you didn’t like it as much as you thought initially would. And it absolutely did not have to do with the fact that your short stature made you look like a toddler who stole their dad’s jacket.
Still, in order to show Jungkook how much you appreciate his gift, you bring it to work the next day, and the rest of the days after that, with the excuse that with winter rolling around you needed something to keep you warm in the office. Jungkook doesn’t miss the opportunity to confirm your assumptions regarding your appearance whenever he barges into your office randomly throughout the week, arguing that ”you look so adorable” and doesn’t stop for two weeks more, until he gets used to seeing you wearing something you shared with him. Which doesn’t help ease your growing romantic feelings for him whatsoever.
Because yeah, you liked Jeon Jungkook, just like every human being with eyes and sexual desires, except, you didn’t just like him in a superficial way, and that’s where the problem with him resides. Though you are sure everyone has fallen in love with the endearing boy at some point - especially the excluded and invalidated women of society - you can’t help but place some blame on you for allowing yourself to be swooned so goddamn easily. Your mom had said to you at some point to be wary of the way some men would talk to you when you grew up, their intention usually being getting inside your pants, which has happened to you more times than you'd like to admit. And with the argument that she knew you better than anyone, she claimed you would comply right the second someone talked sweet to you; you despised the fact that was the case with Jungkook (and Jungkook only), although he had never shown any sexual innuendos. What your feelings could do to your relationship with Jungkook and your rather chill lifestyle scared you to death, shiver me timbers and all that shit, having romantic feelings for someone else is embarrassing, especially when your chance with them has been scratched out the second you laid eyes on them.
Jungkook sits on your couch, legs spread on your thighs as you two pretend to watch some series on netflix. “I don’t buy for a second the act you’re putting on right now.” he speaks randomly after staring at your deep-in-thought state for a few minutes and laughs when you snap at him for not letting you overthink in peace. “What’s going on?”
Truth is, you don’t fucking know. A few hours before he arrived at your place (you had to pick him up at the dorm and sneak the both of you through the subterranean parking lot, because god forbid someone saw Jungkook arriving at some chick’s dorm on a saturday afternoon) you swore you would be able to conceal whatever emotional turmoil you had going inside of you without compromising your regular behaviour around the man, but when push comes to shove, it’s impossible to keep yourself from wondering how far you could go before that special someone found out what was going on inside of your head.
Jungkook’s phone rings in his pocket with some annoying tone he had downloaded illegally from youtube the same day the company had handed over the device as a gift for him (you still were a little bitter over how they neglected the rest of the staff but you also knew it was kind of impossible for the human kind to just gift a-thousand-dollar-phones to almost five hundred people out of solidarity). “Hyung?” he picks up, still wary of your unusual behaviour, concerned eyes looking at you. “No, uh- i’m with Yugyeom right now.” and your heart shatters into a million pieces.
You have been suspecting for a while that Jungkook is being hesitant to introduce you to his social circle. Although, you’ve tried your best not to take it personal, it is getting harder to resist the urge to ask him what the fuck is up with that. The fact that Jungkook had to lie about the person he was hanging out with broke your ego; he could’ve just said he was with a friend, right? You suddenly feel like you’re fifteen again, when the guy you liked would love you in the dark but pretend he didn’t know you in the light.
Holding your tears back, you gently push him off and make your way towards the bathroom in the most nonchalant way you could. This is your fault for falling for the nice popular guy in the first place, you remind the reflection staring back at you. Still, as bad as it hurt, there was no way you were going to cry over a stupid boy, let alone when he was literally sat on the next room. He can go fuck himself if he thinks he can just toss this behind as if nothing ever happened.
You text Chaeryeong instead.
“chaery bom bom: i swear to god i gonna throw hands the next time i see the bitch.
chaery bom bom: like who the hell does he think he is? fucking squidward looking asshole.
chaery bom bom: he ain’t even that cute bub, you’ll get over him. i know jinyoung wouldn’t treat you like this”
You sigh. Chaeryeong has been enamored with the idea of you and his former company colleague from GOT7 since the day she met the guy (which was somewhere around ten years ago), and although he was all that, you didn’t like his quiet and cold aura, it intimidated the fuck out of you (Jungkook was the entire opposite of that).
You spray on some perfume just to have an excuse as to why you randomly ran to the bathroom when Jungkook’s inquiring eyes stare as you sit back on the couch, which is exactly what he does. “You done with your call?” you ask, bitter.
Jungkook frowns, a bit taken aback by the sudden question but still unaware of the way his words had made you feel, not even sensing the hostile change in your mood. “Yes, it was one of our managers. He was wondering if I could come back to reshoot some...-thing.”
Okay, now you kind of understand as to why he lied in the first place and to say you feel guilty is an understatement. “I supposed he backed down once you mentioned you were hanging out with Yugyeom.” playfulness makes its appearance on your tone and Jungkook rolls his eyes at you, tongue poking on the inside of his slightly red cheeks.
“Sorry for that” he moves closer and cuddles your arm, like a sad guilty puppy. “It’s just- I don’t want them asking questions''.
You understand. He is a very reserved and private person after all. It took you a bit to crack him open yourself. Plus, you kind of share that trait with him, you’d hate it too if people were constantly on your nerves for the people you decide to hang out with.
And that’s all it takes to forgive him. Not very cash money of you.
“You better not pull that shit again, though” you shift in his hold and he looks up at you. One look into your eyes and he knows what you mean. “I’ll kick you out.”
After nodding, Jungkook resumes his concentration on the series you picked out for him. Due to your short attention span, you are very picky about what you invest your time in, especifically with audiovisual pieces of media, so Jungkook trusts you whenever you recommend something on very rare occasions. As a matter of fact, Jungkook was busy attacking your kitchen counters for snacks (which you didn’t have) when you mentioned Money Heist. “Munch on some grapes instead” you suggested to soothe his disappointment.
You can’t help but feel a little sad when Jungkook doesn’t refrain from cuddling your arm after pleading to forgive him. You wish you could cuddle him instead, that he would lay his head on your chest as you play with his soft hair, but you recognize there are some things you just can’t have.

Love Yourself Challenge
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc. ) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
Tagged by @roguescarlett, thank you very much for tagging me :)
I had a dilemma choosing between some, so I decided to go only for the completed ones.
One  Kiss Prompt fill for Darth Marr x Edenye, SWTOR.  Link This is one piece of writing that had me emotional writing and re-reading it later. While this moment is still far off in the timeline I am currently writing on, I am fairly confident that it will show up as it is once I get to it in fic.
Two Art of my OC Temare Ameryn (Sith Warrior) , SWTOR . Link That was an art piece I was genuinely proud of completing, even though I did not go for colours or anything. Many thanks to @semper-draca for giving me tips about improving it as well :) (I am trying to work on it again too)
Three Fic “Frozen Grief”, SWTOR - Link How the fallout of Darth Marr being frozen in carbonite at the beginning of Kotfe affects the various player characters and Marr’s partner. It is a completed fic and I will post one of Darth Marr in the role of the Outlander hopefully at some point. With the motivation from @revan-escence I finally finished it :)
Four Fic “First Steps”, Ulfric Stormcloak x non-Dovahkiin OC, Skyrim - Link This is a rework of an old one-shot of mine from 2018. The older one was intended to be open ended without a specific story line in mind. In January I found someone who absolutely loved the fic and we got talking about the story line I had in mind and I re-worked it as a separate fic.
Five Fic “Liberation”, SWTOR - Link Mini-fic about how Edenye, my Sith OC who is not a Player character, was freed from slavery by Darth Malgus. I loved the idea of developing a story of a character who has seer powers in the Force who will eventually become a partner to Darth Marr.
Gonna tag, but no pressure <3 @elveny, @the-sith-in-the-sky-with-diamond, @anchanted-one, @chispas-and-broken-bindings, @revan-escence, @semper-draca

Escence
Ragh redesign of my guilty gear oc
Escence Biography/Lore:
Escence is what is known as umbra-or one of the shadows.aShadowy like beings who can appear human like in nature but are still very off. Their forms can range from anything, as they are just shadows and laws of the world dont necessarily apply to them.
Their main goal is to feed onthe dreams of others, often replacing them with nightmares of their own.
Being Umbra-however- means they don’t naturally feel like humans, void of any emotions. but that doesn’t mean they can’t develop/have them….but usually when they do they end up being confused to the point of madness.
For escence, they were given a human heart, which subsequently gave them a soul. they became human like, and had a physical body, though they still retain their umbra like nature and abilities-often able to dodge attacks by falling into a goopy like shadow and move unnaturally. They also do not have a shadow

10 OC facts: Lorent’z
I got tagged by @visionmarred!! Thank youuu <3 I wanted to think more about my girl anyway!
Tumblr media
(this got long so facts under the readmore)
1.  As with any character, I pondered about her name for ages. Lorent’z’s name is stolen from Hendrik Lorentz. He is known for his discoveries in physics, and I remembered him from my class about the Lorentz force. The Lorentz force is a force that pulls on a charged particle due to electric or magnetic fields. Isn’t that just perfect for a sith sorcerer with force lightning??
2. Lorent’z has scarring on the left side of her face going down to her neck. This is a result of the slave collar she was forced to wear in combination with her growing force powers. Fittingly, the scars kind of look like lightning bolts.
3.  She does not care for sith politics. She dislikes the hierarchy, the master/student dynamic, the paranoia that comes with it, the backstabbing, etc. She refuses to play along with the sith’s internal dramatics, even if that is very dangerous. In her eyes, the empire saved her from slavery, and now having to deal with sith is just an annoying side effect.
4. That being said, she is actually really devoted to the empire. Where sith have their annoying power plays, the empire is smart enough to employ her where she’s at her best: in the field. Lorent’z will gladly drop anything if the empire calls for her help.
5. Because of her past (and because she does have some morals) she hates slavers, but mostly turns a blind eye to them within the empire. I personally feel like this hypocrisy is present in most darkside characters. Hate slavers, but tolerate them on your side. Hate jedi, but if one is your friend then obviously she is allowed to live.
6. Lorent’z hates jedi with a passion. This wasn’t true at the start of her journey, at all, but it’s a standing grudge because jedi killed her boyfriend Urtel Moren. Somehow, the entire jedi order is to blame for his death and now she actively seeks them out to destroy. However, most other republic people have a potential to realize their error and pledge loyalty to the empire.
7.  Her early life wasn’t great, but for a while she was still with her family. She was born into slavery. Because of her innate skill with technology/electronics she was placed away from her family when she was around 10. Because of… all of that.. she has a really hard time expressing positive emotions and love. But she loves so much. Khem jumped between her and Zash to save her and in that exact moment she decided she would protect him with her life. Urtel Moren gave her one(1) compliment and she fell head over heels. Andronikos, all her friends, her cult, her/zash’s apprentices all have her full loyalty and she would do anything for them.
8.  She has an albino bolraida companion/pet/little murder machine. She got it on Alderaan one day with Urtel, even though the seller insisted it was not a pet. It doesn’t have a name but they tolerate each other and appreciate each other’s bloodlust.
9. Lorent’z is a huge nerd and LOVES history and archeology. She could ramble on with Talos for hours about nerdy stuff. When she was training on Korriban, she could be found in the library whenever she had a second of free time.
10. In my playthrough, when Corrin and Kaal were killed, Corrin blinked. So! Her apprentices aren’t dead after all and they are somewhere safe and far away from the sith order. The only one who knows they’re alive is Lorent’z, and she is covering for them. Actually, Corrin and Kaal might now be members of Lorent’z cult in Nar Shaddaa.
I tag @lesbianvisas @revan-escence & @reverienne (I’d love to hear more about all of your ocs!). But only if you want to! Please don’t feel pressured ^^

Name: Alexandra Genesis Stand: Evan Escence Age: 22 (Part 1), 72 (Part 2), 123 (part 3) Birthday: 1864 Gender: Female Nationality: British Race: Human Eye color: Emerald Green Occupation: N/A
Favorite Food: anything chocolate Hobby: Looking at old pictures Appearance: In Phantom Blood, she wears a long, light blue dress with pale blue sleeves, and ribbons adorning the waist of the dress. Her hair is very long, brown, and braided, tied by a white ribbon at the end of her hair.  In Battle Tendency, her hair is out of it’s braid, instead in a very long ponytail, tied together with a smaller version of the white ribbon from before. Despite being in her early 70′s, she still looks 22 due to her suddenly reincarnating, essentially. She wears a red tank top, and over that, a red and white coat with red fur trim on it. She also wears red pants, and white gladiator type shoes.   In Stardust Crusaders, her hair has been cut to a massively shorter length, still keeping the smaller version of the white ribbon in her hair, but this time it’s holding her bangs away from her face. She wears a purple, off shoulder shirt, a lighter color purple skirt with pinkish-purple lines going through the skirt, a purple half skirt, and a utility type belt. She also wears black, knee length boots. Story: In Phantom Blood, Alexandra grew up in nobility, and she met a very young Dio Brando when she was just 3, and he was 2. She had a small coin purse with her, and she passed by Dio and his mother, noticing that they were poor. She asked her mother if she could give them the coin purse, and of course, her mother said yes. So, she walked over to the 2 year old Dio, and handed it to him, smiling as his mother thanked her. About a month later, they met again, and quickly became best friends, even with Alexandra going so far as to say that she wanted to marry him.  Fast forward a bit, Dio’s mother passed away, and the poor kid was suffering from his father’s abuse. Alexandra had promised him that she would stay by his side, no matter what happened to him. Eventually, as the years go by, Dario Brando had passed away due to poisoning, Dio was then adopted into the Joestar family, which made Alexandra very happy, wishing him the best. However, after the years pass, Alexandra was told by Jonathan Joestar that Dio had become a monster, and when Dio confronted her, she felt as if she didn’t know him anymore, and left shortly after he was bested by Jonathan. However, her life froze, just like that, and wasn’t continued until Joseph Joestar turned 18 years old. In Battle Tendency, Alexandra is about 72 years old, which confuses her. She had come to the realization that she was asleep for about 50 years. However, something wasn’t quite right. She was forgetting some wonderful memories. Memories about Dio. This greatly upset her, but she trucked forward in her adventure. It was at this point that she met Joseph Joestar, who reminded her greatly of Jonathan. When she asked his full name, she realized that he could be Jonathan’s great grandson. She stayed by his side through out his journey, and fight with the Pillar Men. But other than that, nothing major was happening in her life. Shortly after Joseph’s victory against Kars, once again, she fell into a deep slumber that lasted about another 50 years, when Jotaro Kujo turns 17. In Stardust Crusaders, she awakens once again 50 years into the future, but this time, with a new power she had never seen before. It was a Stand. She looked at it, and couldn’t figure out a name for it. (I know this doesn’t fit for the time period, but shhhhh this is a Jojo oc, it doesn’t have to make a lot of sense.) She ended up, for some reason, naming the stand Evan Escence. She realized as she was training with it, that her memories, or lack thereof, of Dio Brando had affected it. If she remembered a pleasant memory of him, such as their first kiss way back when, it becomes stronger. But if she forgets a pleasant memory or remembers an unpleasant one, it becomes weaker. She never understood it’s powers, but she came to the conclusion that to some extent, she can control space.  It was shortly after, where she met Jotaro Kujo and co, and somehow, she was able to recognize Joseph. He seemed to recognize her too, and they discussed her stand. Deciding to travel with them on their journey, she told them about the vague memories she has of Dio. They fill her in on that he is back, and automatically, she determines she wants to see him. Once they reach Cairo, she immediately begins her search, finding him faster than the group, but refusing to say so. She met up with DIO, only to find how different he truly has become. She was very saddened by this, and once again, commented on how she didn’t know him anymore. But, she couldn’t help herself, and gave him a single peck on the lips, before deciding to essentially cut him out of her life. As expected, he didn’t take kindly to this, but not wanting to make it worse on her, he let her go.   In the end, DIO was bested by Jotaro, and she celebrated with what remains of the group. She was heartbroken when she heard that Avdol, Iggy, and Kakyoin had unfortunately been killed. Regardless, she was happy....or so she thought, as once again, she fell into a slumber.

“What next?” Eijiro asked. He had two brown paper bags held in his right hand, filled to the brim with gifts for your friends. He always loved bringing back little surprises whenever he had to go away for missions and apparently, this mission was no different.
In his left hand though, he held a steaming mug of apple cider that the two of you had been sharing. Burning your tongues for the last ten minutes wondering what magic had been cast on it to still make it scalding hot.
After a filling breakfast, you decided to come to the picturesque town looking for a way to pass the day away. You had many a childhood memory from the place but enjoying it with Eijiro, showing him the shops and little historic town facts, that made for a whole new experience. You were on your third lap around now, each time finding a shop you’d missed, or a new activity to try.
“I wanted to stop in the sweets shop before heading back, that okay?”
“Do you really think I’m going to say no to a place that sells chocolate by the pound?” He looked down at the cup in his hand, “You go ahead of me though, I’m gonna see if I can get some ice to cool this off faster.”
He walked back off in the direction of the cart while you ducked into the shop. A middle-aged woman greeted you with a grin on her face that was as inviting as everyone else in the town had been.
There were plenty of treats you could have bought but the confections weren’t the reason you wanted to go in.
The truth was, the sweets shop had been here for as long as you could remember. Even the woman who greeted you, she might not have recognized you but you remembered her when she was twenty years younger, grey had yet to touch her copper hair. She was the owner's daughter, you couldn’t exactly recall her name but you knew who she was.
And just as she was a staple of this place, so was the huge board along the back wall. Full of smiling faces in different decades of dress. People of all ages were scattered about perfectly preserved within the polaroids.
You scanned over each of them until you found the one you’d come in for. The photograph was held in place by a golden pushpin. Easy enough for you to remove. You looked down at your younger self with a bag filled with goodies clutched tightly in your hands and on either side of you stood your grandparents. Their faces squished close to yours.
“Excuse me,” The woman was hurrying towards you, “Please don’t touch those. Some of them are very old!”
“I know,” You told her, “This one’s mine.” You pulled out your ID and showed her it matched the name scrawled on the back.
She offered up quick apologies, “It’s not often we get people taking the photos down...”
“I don’t have many family photos. And my grandmother is no longer with us. Would you mind if I took this one?”
“I’m sorry for your loss, darling. Of course, you may take it! And, I’ll tell you what, a pound of whatever strikes your fancy, on the house.”
You told her that was unnecessary but she insisted.
By the time Eijiro got back you had already picked out the treats you planned on taking back with you. Some for you, a couple for Eijiro, and a whole lot more for Avery.
“Did you get lost?” You chuckled when he offered you the now consumable beverage.
“Not exactly. Avery isn’t the only one to notice me here.” His cheeks were still rosy with blush, “A group of girls asked me for autographs and,”
“And you hate turning away fans. I know, Ei, I know.”
He leaned against the counter with you, and you just knew he’d be shelling out a decent amount of cash. By the time you two were ready to leave, Eijiro had bought nearly ten pounds of goodies. Now, most of those were for Taishiro. But, he planned to horde a few for himself at least.
“You know,” The woman mused as she slid the bag over to Eijiro while her eyes looked towards you, “Since you took that photo from the wall there’s this empty space now,” She reached below the counter and pulled out the old camera. “Would you and your boyfriend mind if I took one of you two to fill it?”
Neither you nor Eijiro corrected her but picked out a confection each and posed. Eijiro picked a cupcake out of the box with buttercream frosting and pulled you to his side as she counted down to one and when it arrived, you shrieked when the flash went off.
Eijiro cackled a laugh while you touched the trail of icing now down the side of your face, “I’m, I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist!”
Despite you threatening his very existence, Eijiro took hold of your chin and kissed your icing coated cheek, his tongue even darted out to get a taste when another flash happened.
“Now that is some good icing!”
“Just wait. Payback’s a bitch, Eiji.” You hissed.
“Is that a threat?”
“You bet your fine ass it is.”
Tumblr media
The sun was already kissing the horizon when you walked back to the jeep, casting long shadows of the trees that started glowing from the white stringed lights coiled around them. Eijiro made some comment about how you guys could stay longer, see the place all lit up at night. He wasn’t even looking at you when he spoke, too busy taking everything in as if you hadn’t spent nearly four hours here already!
With both arms free, souvenirs tucked away in the car, you set off for one more lap around the town. It was nearing six in the evening and with any luck, you could show Eijiro the main event of the night, what made this place really come to life.
“So, what’s it look like here the rest of the year? Is it Christmas town all the time?”
“No, not all the time. In the spring they have a flower festival that goes on for like the entire month of April and do a hot air balloon race the final weekend, the summer is for Independence Day, firework shows, and all that stuff. Fall though, that's really a sight to see, they put up this huge pumpkin at the center of town and kids can climb inside.” You nudged him down a sidewalk that would lead to the giant tree, “The rest of the time though, it’s just a quiet little town.”
“Sounds peaceful.”
“It is. Definitely different from our day-to-day. I don’t even think they’d have a need for heroes here.”
Lower and lower the sun dipped until it had vanished leaving only its glow behind and took the warmth of the day with it. Kids in hats and mittens clutching candy canes went running by and you knew they were eager to get to the tree.
“What’s everyone gathered for?”
Snow crunched underfoot and you tugged him along through the grass just barely poking through to get a good view of the tree. Not that anywhere was a particularly bad view when you were staring at something 80ft tall.
You linked your arm to him and when the bell above the town hall rang out to cry the hour, you pointed to the tree, “Ready?”
Starting from the bottom, thousands upon thousands of lights twinkled to life. They illuminated not only the vast assortment of ornaments but also each and every face in the crowd. Eijiro’s eyes shown brighter than you’ve ever seen them, shimmering with awe and wonder.
They had festivals in Japan, beautiful ones with bright lights that could ignite an evening sky and yet Eijiro still murmured about how beautiful this all was, how he’d never seen anything quite like it.
You stayed for a long while looking at the marvel. After families had gone, you and Eijiro walked closer allowing him a better look at all the decorations and you stood back while he seemed to admire every one of them individually. Elderly couples left their benches, shops closed their doors for the evening until finally, you were some of the only people still around.
“We have the festivals, the little shopping towns, we even have Christmas back home but this,” It was like he couldn’t find the word, “It feels different.”
“There’s nothing quite like Christmas in a small town.”
“Would you come back here with me? Like, we still have a few more weeks until actual Christmas, right? If this is how people act weeks before, I can only imagine how it’ll be on the day.”
“Sure, Eijiro. I’d like that.”
You didn’t clarify if he meant in a few weeks or years down the road because that didn’t even occur to you. He reached out his hand, finally ready to head back to the car, and it didn’t really matter when he meant. You’d go. You’d go anywhere with him whenever he wanted.
Tumblr media
The sound of Eijiro’s stomach complaining filled the jeep after just a few minutes of driving.
“What are you feeling like? Someplace we can sit down? Grab something and take it back to the resort. Or, room service is also always an option.”
“I’m not really hungry.”
He shot you a quick look of annoyance from the driver's side. “That’s bullshit. You’ve barely eaten anything all day. C’mon. You’re favorite place! Name it and we’ll go.”
But, just the thought of eating had your stomach doing backflips, you hadn't even had any of the treats you bought.
Your mother had already sent you a plethora of texts throughout the day. Wondering where you were, what time your flight was getting in, why you hadn’t checked in at the resort yet, and a few particularly pointed ones about how you better not make her look bad. It was only a matter of time before she called you.
You were staring at the messages again, thinking you should have just told her you were already here, it was stupid of you to want a little personal time. You should just answer them to get her to quit but Eijiro had made a good point after her first cross message; you were an adult. Capable of making your own choices.
Doesn’t matter when you respond. You’re already here, you have your dress and everything else. She doesn’t need to know every second of your day.
Just as you were about to pick up the phone and type your response to her, Eijiro’s hand swiped it and put it into his pocket. “What the hell!”
“Dinner. Then you can have your phone back.”
“I’m not a child.”
“Oh, believe me, I know that. But, you're having trouble focusing on what’s important. You need to eat, and none of this, I’m not hungry, crap because I know that’s not true. So, please, tell me what you’d like for dinner.”
“Make a left at the next intersection.” You gave him directions without further argument to a restaurant you knew by heart. “If you give me my phone, I can pull up the menu and we can order it so it’s ready when we get there.”
Eijiro happily handed you a phone but it wasn’t yours. “Don’t give me that look.” He told you, “If you just wanna order food then you can do that from my phone.”
You punched in his passcode and pulled up the online menu while telling him the dishes the restaurant was known for, the ones that you preferred, but you’d already added the ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus to the check out before he’d told you.
Before you could dig out your credit card, Eijiro was already handing you his and you didn’t feel like arguing with him about who was going to pay. You’d simply get the next meal.
There was a short wait once you’d arrived before the to-go boxes were all packed up. And you heard it while you were waiting, your ringtone. Eijiro pulled your phone from his pocket and answered it with a smile. “Hey Mina- No, no, everything’s fine. Oh, I know that! It’s 1047- Sure thing. Call if you need anything else.”
“My computer pin?”
“She needed to resubmit your report from when you were injured last week.” And with that, the phone vanished into his pocket again.
It was work talk for the rest of the wait time and for a majority of the drive back. Silly things Denki and Mina had done or how Eijiro had to physically cover Katuski’s mouth during an interview recently. Before you knew it, your phone and the text messages on it were far from your mind.
To the point that you were almost confused when Eijiro handed it back to you the very moment you finished your last bite of dinner, you’d forgotten he even had it. You'd gotten back, changed clothes, set up dinner, and made it through the whole meal without worry.
He left the room with nothing more than a lopsided smile, going up the stairs in search of sweatpants, you’d assumed.
You blinked down at your lock screen. The photo of you and all your friends surrounding a large campfire over the summer was obscured by five text message notifications, three missed calls, and two voicemails. Luckily, two of the texts were from Mina. One to confirm that the report was accepted, the other to remind you that tomorrow would be fine, and to call if you needed emotional support.
The rest, however, were all from your mother. She’d call again soon enough, you were sure of it, and this time you’d answer.
“Hey,” Eijiro was leaning over the banister above you, “Movie or hot tub?”
“Movie first, then hot tub?”
“I like the way you think.”
“I’ll get drinks, you pick the movie this time.”
You’d settled into the sofa, a blanket covering both your laps as John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd took to the screen. With the way Eijiro’s fingers were lightly rubbing at your scalp though, you were starting to think you’d been a little too ambitious. There was a good chance you weren’t you’d even make it to the end of the movie let alone the hot tub afterward!
“Ei, ya gotta stop that.” Even though you were snuggling into his chest. “‘M gonna fall asleep.”
“That’s not a bad thing. If you fall asleep I’ll just take you to bed,” He kissed your temple, shifting and laying down, “‘S no big deal.”
He pulled you down on top of him, lulling you further and further into relaxation, soothed by his hands and the rhythmic rise and fall of your head on his chest until you couldn’t even be bothered to keep your eyes open. It was astounding how one person could make a task such as sleeping so much easier to do. Their warm presence offering the peace of mind you didn’t know you needed.
And that was why when your ringtone shattered that peace you considered crushing it into a million pieces. You sucked in a deep breath, Eijiro kissing your forehead while he reached to hand it to you, “I’m right here.”
“Well, it’s about time you answered. You don’t call your mother back now? You’re not even at the resort! I told you how important it was that you be here, I cannot believe you’re so selfish to not even-”
Eijiro could hear the entire thing, you saw it with how his eyes widened and nostrils flared.
“Hey, mom. Sorry about not getting back to you but I am here.”
“Do you think I’m some kind of imbecile? Your reservation is still unclaimed, I’ve been checking with the front desk every hour since this afternoon and they’ve assured me that you have not checked in yet.”
“That’s because I got in last night or very early this morning, technically.” You explained how they had nothing else available besides the penthouse.
There was a pause and then a laugh bubbled over. “If you're going to lie to me at least make it believable! You’re barely in the top 50 over there and you expect me to believe they pay you well enough that you could afford the penthouse here?”
She hadn’t checked the rankings in almost a year? That really wasn’t a surprise but it still stung. “I’m in the top 25 now. I’m ranked 21 at the moment.”
“Oh! Well, that makes SUCH a difference!”
“Right, it really doesn’t, I know. But, anyway, I am here and I will be there for the wedding tomorrow. Is there anything else?”
“Of course there is!” You rested your head against Eijiro’s knee while she went on, “I need you to let me up to your room so I can bring you your dress for tomorrow and make sure this date of yours has something acceptable as well.”
“Kirishima’s suit is fine, mother. It’s designer, for crying out loud! And, and, I have a dress!”
“Designer? Right, dear, like you’d know designer. I’m sure you have a dress but your cousin has a very specific vision in mind for her very special day and your style isn’t it.”
You were up now, pacing around the coffee table, “You haven’t even seen my dress to know! It’s not black, like you asked!”
“Fine. Come let me up and I will see if it’s suitable. If it isn’t, I expect you to wear what I’ve brought.”
Eijiro tried to grab your hand but you were already storming towards the elevator. Snapping that you were on your way and ending the call. Angry tears were brimming in your eyes but you held them back, there was no way in hell you were giving her the satisfaction of letting her know just how far under your skin she was.
She was waiting in the lobby. The black garment bag that held some unknown atrocity was draped delicately over an arm while a tan-toed foot tapped with impatience.
Your mother walked over to the elevator door the moment she saw you. “You were supposed to be back to your natural color. Damn it. I don’t have any dye to fix this now and all the salons are closed now.”
“It’s good to see you too, mother.”
"I'm serious, Y/N. You're going to have to get up early and go to the resort salon. It's probably going to take hours to strip this..."
"I am not stripping my color for one day."
"But this is her wedding!"
You swallowed and remembered what Eijiro had said on the plane. "It's her wedding, not mine. I like my hair and I'm keeping it. And I'm not fighting with you about it. Would you prefer me not go at all, because I'd be happy-"
"Just stop talking. Keep your hair then."
By the tenth floor, everyone else had exited leaving the two of you alone for the remaining floors. “How did you afford the penthouse? I get notifications when you access your account and I wasn’t alerted. Do I need to call my advisor?”
“How I afford it is my business. I did not use my trust.”
“Is it this date you brought? God, child, are you in some kind of arrangement with this man? Are you doing that poorly in the hero field?”
There were only two floors left until you arrived but it was enough for your words to get out.
“Say what you will about me, I don’t give a damn, but you will not say a fucking word about Kirishima, am I clear, mother?” Your voice was ice cold, kept so low even if there was no one else around to hear you. “He’s my best friend and a wonderful man, and I will not have you running your mouth about him.”
If it wasn’t for the slight flick of her brows, you would have assumed she was completely unphased by your words because she certainly didn’t give you any verbal indication she’d heard you. Shit would be said behind both your backs, there was nothing you could do to prevent that but, you’d be damned if you let her disrespect Eijiro in front of either of you after all he’d done for you throughout the years. Everything you two had been through together.
The elevator chimed and the doors swished open revealing the man himself.
“It’s nice to finally meet you, ma’am.” He helped her off the elevator, “My name is Eijiro Kirishima.” You had to hide a chuckle at the ‘finally’ he added.
Your mother never came to the hospital when you were injured in high school, not to your graduation either, she wasn’t there to see you accept any of the awards or other accolades you’d received over the course of your hero career. The two never had a chance to meet. Unlike you and Eijiro’s parents. Those two women were both so damn busy and yet always made the time for their son. Made time for you even once Eijiro let it slip how absent your mother had been.
She seemed to heed your warning though, you saw her judgemental eyes glance over his clearly dyed locks but she merely introduced herself when her mouth opened.
“Well, it’s clear you two were getting cozy so, show me this dress and I’ll be on my way.”
You walked her through to the bedroom off the living room, ignoring her small chirp of surprise at the look of the place. Unzipping the bag but merely showing her the dress was not enough though, in fact, she wouldn’t even look at it on the hanger, she insisted she had to see you in it.
Eijiro excused himself and let the door softly shut behind him leaving you to shimmy out of your clothes and into the velvet gown with only your mother left in the room.
You caught only a glimpse of yourself in the floor-length mirror but you were still in awe of it. Smoothing down the fabric, how soft it was to the touch. “See?” You spun to show the full thing to her, “I have heels so the hem doesn’t drag-”
“Absolutely not.”
Well, that wasn’t shocking but it still stung. “That neckline with your chest? You can’t be serious! And your arms, this is so tight on them! No, no, no, what would you do without me…”
Wear what I’m comfortable wearing.
Just like that, the confidence you had in the gown mere seconds ago slipped away.
She opened the bag she bought and you nearly broke out laughing. Now she was the one who had to be insane.
“This? This is what you want me to wear?”
“Yes! The high neck will make you look more modest and the puffy sleeves will obscure your arms. This belt, look how shiny it is, it’ll help distract from your stomach. This dress is going to look so much more flattering on you. And your cousin is hoping everyone will be in natural tones anyways.”
More flattering. That always been her way of saying you needed to cover up, you needed to stay hidden.
“Mother, I just think-”
“It’s clear that you weren’t thinking at all if that’s what you were going to wear.” She dismissed you with a wave of her hand. “Now then, in the bag is also a tie for your date-”
“His name is Kirishima.”
“Yes, whatever, it’s in the bag, as I said. The ceremony begins at eleven sharp so arrive by 10:30 at least. I assume you’ll be doing your own hair and makeup?”
“Yes.”
“Fine. You will be expected to be in family photos so don’t do anything too embarrassing.” Her hand was on the door handle and she shook her head at you with another cruel chuckle before turning it to leave. “I cannot believe you, ha, you in that dress. Ridiculous.”
You stood still in the room, not moving a muscle when she said good evening to Eijiro and not when the elevator doors closed. You stood alone in the room for ten minutes and only lifted your head when you heard Eijiro from the doorway. “Holy shit…”
“Yeah. Yeah, I get it. It’s bad. I dunno what I was thinking. I even brought the one from Tetsu-”
“Fuck no! That’s not what I meant! Are you kidding me, Y/N? You actually believe what she said?”
It was easy to believe her, you heard similar words all through your youth. Eijiro lifted your head in his hands so you had to look at him. “It took you years to feel comfortable in your own skin, to be proud of who you are, and now you have people who look up to you! You have fans, sweetie! You have Avery! You’ve got me! Do not let her destroy what you’ve built.”
You smiled through the tears he brushed away, kissing his palm and thanking him for the reminder.
“I still can’t wear it though. It’ll be a huge scene and she’ll probably yell at me to go change like a toddler.”
“Well, you’re wearing it now.” A hand slid around your waist and the other held your hand as Eijiro began to dance. “If you’re gonna insist on wearing the other one, then I think you should at least get some use outta this one!”
He spun you around in grand gestures, making up moves as he went and hollering for his phone to play something to dance to. He took you around the bed, out into the living room, and pulled you up onto the coffee table where you both kicked your feet out laughing along to the song.
Your dress flowed like a red wave around the kitchen and blew in the breeze when Eijiro pulled you through the patio door, out onto the balcony.
With you balanced atop his slipper clad feet, Eijiro swayed back and forth holding you close, your head against his chest.
“I think you should wear this tomorrow.” He mumbled to the top of your head.
“Unless my mother’s dress has a tragic accident, that’s not gonna happen. But, I’m glad you like this one.”
He snickered, “I’m pretty sure you could wear a potato sack and as long as it’s on you I’d love it.” But really, Eijiro took your words to heart… a tragic accident for the dress… yeah, yeah he might be able to manage that.
