I need to express my love for Scotty, specifically in the TOS episode "Spectre of the Gun", which is another favourite of mine, because, he's so fucking beautiful in that episode. Him and Bones...ugh I CANT!
Scotty also is funny as fuck in that episode, just necks back the whiskey saying "it's to kill the pain" then Spock looking at him like "😕" saying "but this is painless" then Scotty holding a face back because of the alcohol saying "you should have warned me sooner Mr spock"
THE AMOUNT OF TIMES IVE WATCHED THIS EPISODE JUST FOR MCCOY AND SCOTTY...it's an embarrassingly large amount I have to say

Hi Cassie! I have a question for you, what makes you like Roxy the most?
And for Greg, why is Freddy your favorite?
To the others (Ellis, Tony, Vanessa) Who's your favorite animatronic?
Cassie : Hm.. She's like me! She's tough.. but really sweet when you get to know her! Gregory : Uhhmm... He treats me the same, even though most people view me as 'different..?' Ellis : Oh Monty, hands down. He reminds me of my dad! Tony : I like DJ, actually. He's cool. Vanessa : Hm.. I think it's gotta be Chica. She's so fun and lively.

Imagine waiting for the Baudelaires with your husband, Monty
Tumblr media
It's currently 6 am. I've been awake for 3 hours. Why have I been awake for so long? The simple answer is that I'm nervous. Today is the day that the family I've always wished for is complete. 3 children who have lost their parents are coming to live with me and my husband, Monty. So now I sit here and wait, wishing that time would go faster. Then I hear the footsteps of my husband coming downstairs. "Well that's new" he says, referring to the fact that I'm awake before him and follows up with "Is everything alright? You look nervous". "I'm very nervous" I respond. "Would you mind telling me what you're nervous about?" He asks me. "The Baudelaires. They come today, Monty. What if something goes wrong." I reply. " I'm sure that it'll be fine. What if we bake a cake for them? It could take your mind off it until they're here." He suggests. I might as well. There's no use in sitting here worrying. A while later, we're done with the cake. Then the doorbell rings. Oh God. Suddenly, all of the anxiety that I forgot about hit me like a tsunami. We both walk to the door, bringing the cut peices of cake with us. "Hello, hello, hello, you must be the Baudelaires!" Monty exclaims as he opens the door. After some conversations and confusion on who to give the last peice of cake to, Monty and I show them around the house. The day goes by quick and before I know it they're going to bed. Now, it's just 2 of us, Monty and I. "What do think of the kids?" He asks me. I honestly want to cry. So I do. Monty rushes over to ask me what's wrong. " I'm just so happy!". I am. I've been wishing for a family for so long, and now, because of the Baudelaires, I have the perfect family.

First off your username is a whole ass mood, also, could I request a fic with Klaus Baudelaire? Their on the Qeequeg and reader gets jealous of Fiona and her flirting with klaus. I’m a whore for Klaus Baudelaire
Guess (Klaus Baudelaire X GN!Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: Y/n has been with the Baudelaires since they showed up on Monty’s doorstep. When they board the Queequeg, Y/n can’t help the jealousy overcome when Fiona gets a little too close to Klaus.
A/N: I can’t remember the exact plot of the grim grotto, so in this they’re all just kinda hanging out on the Queequeg ig lol
***
If you had asked Y/n L/n where they saw themself in a few months, they wouldn’t have guessed all the unfortunate events they and the Baudelaires had experienced. Bouncing from guardian to guardian, only tagging along with the Baudelaires because the late Dr. Montgomery Montgomery, their own guardian, was tragically murdered and coincidentally wanted Y/n to be taken care of by the also late Josephine Anwhistle. Being chased down by a homicidal, overgrown theater kid after the Baudelaire fortune.
They also wouldn’t have guessed their current predicament, being stuck in a submarine captained by a teenager. Her name was Fiona Widdershins. She had become captain of the Queeqeug ever since her stepfather got a distress call from a manatee. She was looking for a sugar bowl, the same one that the Baudelaire’s former guardian Esme Squalor was after.
She was also very captivating, especially to a certain Baudelaire. And it pissed Y/n off.
Klaus wasn’t theirs; they knew that. Y/n was constantly reminded of that. But watching as he and Fiona worked closely together to locate the sugar bowl, flirty remarks from her every now and then, Y/n couldn’t stop the jealousy from overcoming them.
“He doesn’t even know her,” Y/n muttered as she watched the two laugh at a joke from afar.
“You know,” Y/n was startled by Violet’s sudden presence beside them, “You could tell him how you feel. It would be better than moping around, watching the two of them.”
“Absolutely not.” Y/n shook the ridiculous idea away. “That would end in disaster.”
“How so?”
“When Klaus rejects me-”
“He won’t.”
“Fine. If he rejects me, we’ll still be stuck together in a submarine until God knows when. And the situation’s awkwardness would be so suffocating that I would jump out into the sea to escape it.”
“Oh, don’t be so dramatic.” Violet laughed at the visual of Y/n’s words. “Klaus won’t reject you, Y/n. I know it.”
“Then why is he flirting with Fiona right in front of us like that?”
“He probably doesn’t see it as flirting, just regular conversation. Klaus may be book smart, but he’s not exactly versed in things like relationships.”
Y/n knew this was true. They had known the Baudelaires long enough to know that they weren’t very experienced when it came to romantic feelings. Most of the experience they did have was from the people they had encountered when their unfortunate events had first started to occur.
“Whatever, I’m still not gonna tell him.”
“Tell who what?” Y/n was again startled by another Baudelaire sibling, Klaus. It seemed that Fiona had gone to steer the submarine in the needed direction, because she was out of the room.
“Actually, we were talking about-” Y/n put their hand over Violet’s mouth to stop her from exposing them.
“Nothing!” Y/n had said that louder than they intended to. They cleared their throat. “We weren’t talking about anything.”
Klaus gave Violet a look. Y/n couldn’t decipher what the look meant, he looked confused, but there was some kind of message in his eyes. Violet apparently knew the message because she made up some excuse to leave.
“I’ll go check on Sunny.” She left quickly, leaving Klaus and Y/n alone in the room.
“Shouldn’t you go back to Fiona?” Y/n immediately hit themself mentally for the question. Why did they feel the need to bring Fiona up now that she and Klaus had finally taken a break from flirting with each other?
“Why would I go back to Fiona?” Klaus looked even more confused. Y/n couldn’t help rolling their eyes.
“Why wouldn’t you? You two were flirting and close together so much that I’m half surprised you didn’t start kissing right there.” Why was Y/n digging themself into an even deeper hole?
Klaus laughed.
Why the hell was he laughing?
“Y/n, are you jealous?” He asked, looking intently at them. They averted their eyes, knowing that looking at him would reveal everything. They didn’t feel like jumping out of the submarine right now.
“That’s absurd.” They scoffed. “Public displays of affection are just disgusting, that’s all.” Klaus laughed again.
“Disgusting? Really?” He took Y/n’s hands in his, making them look at him. “Y/n, there was nothing affectionate about my conversations with Fiona.”
“Maybe not on your side, but she seemed to think differently.”
“Why do you care so much?”
“I don’t want to see some girl flirting with the guy I like. Is that such a crime?” Y/n started punching themself on the inside again. Klaus looked pleasantly surprised.
“Last time I checked, it’s not.” Y/n couldn’t understand why he was being so cheeky. “If it makes you feel any better, though, I have it on good authority that the guy you like isn’t interested in Fiona.”
Oh.
“Oh, um… Is the guy I like interested in anyone?” Y/n asked. They had a feeling where this was going, but you could never be too sure about these kinds of things. Klaus nodded.
“Yes, he seems to like a particular someone.”
“And that is?”
Klaus moved closer to Y/n, leaning down. Their lips were so close to touching yet so far.
“Guess.”

Hey, I wanna rant. I was just rewatching Netflix’s tv series A Series of Unfortunate Events with my little sisters, and omfg, Monty. I’m gonna put this into section cuz I hate reading one chunky paragraph.
1. The orange jeep with his name on the license plate. Idk why but I love that
2. The outfits (sadly he only has a few but they were gorgeoussss)
3. HIS HOUSE?!?! have you seeeeen this man’s house. The wallpapers with green and gold snakes on it, the decor, the aggressive hyperfixation on reptiles and amphibians which is very neurodivergent of him

5. The animals in said room, like the turtles listening to scream music, the chameleons and snakes just vibing everywhere while you can hear frogs chirp in the background
6. The hedge trimmings of snakes. Omfg
7. Him conveniently living in a place seen as horrid and smelling bad so no one bothers him again, neurodivergent
8. His name being Montgomery Montgomery because he liked his last name and couldn’t think of a new name to pick and people already called him dr. Montgomery
Sorry projecting a bit there (also the name is giving Mobius M. Mobius)
9. I’m sorry to bring it up no I’m not but the Incredibly Deadly Viper being a big sweetheart and super friendly is literally giving Crowley so much I can’t even describe (aziraphale must’ve read the books at some point because he was curious and bored and giggled so much my goodness I need this au)

hello, good afternoon. Forgive my English, it's not my language so I use a translator. I would love a romantic story between Monty Montgomery with a male reader who also loves reptiles (especially snakes). It could be with a happy ending, with Monty and the male reader taking care of the Baudelaire brothers. thanks in advance 🤗
Caretakers (Monty Montgomery x Male!Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: You and your husband meet the Baudelaire children and take care of them! Pronouns: You/Yours, He/Him Warnings: None Word Count: 2.3k A/N: This is just sweet, I promise. Thank you for requesting. lots of love! <33
The Baudelaire children Violet, Klaus, and Sunny were all taken to their new caretaker's home by the banker Mr. Poe. They were quite wary of their new caretaker as their previous one, Count Ola, had only been chosen through manipulation in order to steal all of their fortune that their parents left for them. All they new about this new caretaker is that his name was Dr. Montgomery Mongomery and that he was their father’s cousin's wife's brother.
As the old styled, baby blue car pulled into gates, Violet looked out the window, Sunny in her lap securely. She saw the clouds of white in the great blue sky, different from where they last stayed. The sky had been gray, dark, as if the area had not seen light for years.
Violet's brother, Klaus, did the same as she did, looking out the window. Once his eyes gazed to peer out the old car window he was met with lucious green shrubs in the shapes of reptiles. The designed lawn simply continued so the boy shifted to look out the front windshield, VIolet noticing and doing the same.
The three Baudelaire children observed a large stone house they were getting close to, the driveway was quite long, and they passed by beautiful shrubs and a large center piece of green and flowers. The exterior of the home only made the children smile, though they did, they still didn’t get their hopes up. They didn’t know who Dr.Mongomery was, they didn’t know how he acted, or what he would do with them.
Mr. Poe parked in front of the few steps at the front of the car, exiting the vehicle. He gestured for the children to do the same, to which they did.
The four of them walked up the steps and Mr. Poe rang the doorbell, mouth covered with his handkerchief to cover up his cough. The doorbell was ever so loud, ringing in their heads in an echo, Klaus’s hands came to Sunnys head to muffle it for the baby who babbled about the doorbell being unpleasant and deafening.
They stood at the front door for a moment, no one coming to open the door quite yet. Before Mr. Poe got the chance to ring the blaring doorbell again, the brown, wooden front door opened.
When it opened completely they were met with the sight of a man. He was slightly short, he had slightly dark skin, black hair, brown eyes, and a mustache that looked like squiggles at the ends. He had a wide smile and light in his eyes when he took notice of the children, barely paying mind to Mr. Poe other than a friendly nod.
His energy was warm, bright, very different from Count Olaf. When the door opened the scene of cookies and tea filled their senses, and they weren’t even in the home yet. The Baudelaires couldn’t help the hopeful smiles that etched onto their expressions, sighing out a breath of relief to such a kind looking man.
From the way Mr. Poe wasn’t concerned at the sight of him, the children assumed this was Dr. Montgomery. He nodded at a thought he had, “Hello hello hello! You must be the Baudelaires!” He spoke with a seemingly British accent. He was welcoming, his teeth showing as he made silly faces to Sunny who giggled.
Mr. Poe nodded and responded with a ‘yes’, the man in the doorway nodded as the answer, standing straight, showing more of his striped button up. “This is perfect timing, because my husband has just finished frosting this delicious coconut cream cake.” He explained, turning and grabbing forks, telling everyone to take one as he walked into the house.
Everyone followed him, looking around. The entryway had burgundy carpet, a stained-glass light fixture on the ceiling. It was a large entry room and had a grand staircase that led to the second floor.
Violet sniffed the air, smelling the baked goods with a smile. She looked to Klaus who had the same look on his face, everything seemed nice so far. She moved her hair behind her shoulder, “Thank you, Dr. Montgomery.” She spoke, following behind him to wherever he was walking, Sunny on her side in her arms.
Dr. Montgomery turned, shaking his finger with a grin, “Please, call me Monty!” He suggested, opening his mouth to say something more.
“He doesn’t like fancy titles unless they get him a discount at the movies.” A voice said from behind Monty, interrupting him. When the man turned around his eyes softened, at the sight of you. His smile turned from excited to gentle and he walked over to you as you emerged from what seemed to be the kitchen. He wrapped his arm around your waist, kissing your temple softly. You held up a plate of cake since your husband's arms were around you. He continued to hold your waist as he turned to the children, “He’s right." He spoke quietly before turning his attention back to the children, "Do you like going to the movies?” He asked the three who nodded.
The conversation didn’t go much further into that topic other than the promise that they would go a lot. Monty introduced you to the Buadelaires who said their Hellos, you offered them pieces of coconut cream cake.
“You must be Violet, the inventor.” You spoke, handing her a piece of cake to which she took with a smile. Monty unraveled himself from your side, taking a different slice to give to Klaus, “And you are Klaus, the reader.” He hummed and Klaus nodded, taking the cake gently.
You looked at the baby in Violet's arms and offered a piece of cake, “And you must be Sunny, would you like some cake?” You asked but Klaus answered for the baby.
“My sister prefers very hard food.”
The answer was unusual and strange but it wasn’t strange enough for the couple standing in front of them.
Monty nodded, “That’s unusual for a baby, not so for many snakes. Perhaps Sunny would prefer a raw carrot?” He offered and the baby happily took it, munching on it as everyone continued to converse.
There was another piece of cake left that you offered to Mr. Poe who politely declined, saying he should get going. You smiled at him and walked to the kitchen, placing the rest of the cake into the kitchen. “There are plenty of treats, drinks, and snacks in the kitchen whenever you all want some.” You hummed to them and the Baudelaires thanked you quietly. They were polite, but they seemed nervous, you understood that quite well.
Mr. Poe was telling the Baudelaires how they could call him if they needed anything as you walked back in but Monty interrupted him with a genuine smile, “They won’t need anything from you, they are in our care now and we will dedicate ourselves to them.” He spoke, his tone was kind enough, but the implication that Poe had thought they would not be taken care of seemed to have irked him.
Klaus noticed this and quickly spoke up, “Our parents' fortune can't be used until Violet comes of age.”
The comment surprised the two of you, you furrowed your brows in confusion, looking at Monty. He frowned at you, putting a hand on your shoulder, “I understand you all have been through a lot with your previous caretaker.” He spoke softly, eyes showing truth to his words. You nodded, “But, we don’t care about your parents fortune.” You explained to them, the comment made the three a bit skeptical.
You walked to them, crouching down a bit to be leveled with them, “We do not need your fortune, we only care that you all are safe, and feel cared for.” You continued on, your smile was sad, as were your eyes but you were genuine.
The Baudelaires seemed visibly relaxed at your words and that was enough for you to back away from them.
Mr. Poe had noticed it was time for him to leave and Monty hastily rushed him out of the home until the door was closed. “Apologies if I seemed rude to the…banker.” He spoke, stopping himself from rolling his eyes. “He just strikes a small nerve with me, he was the reason you were placed with that-” He was going to continue to speak until he noticed the look on your face. A look he was familiar with, a look that said ‘be quiet’, and he did.
The older two followed his gaze to your hard look that softened when they looked at you. You clapped your hands, “How about we show you all to some rooms and you guys can decide which rooms you would like to stay in?” You offered, the idea made everyone in the room nod and follow you. Monty gently whispered to the group as you walked up the stairs, “Some of the rooms have his touch in them, he really wanted you all to like it here.” He told them, rushing up the stairs to catch up. Violet and Klaus walked up with them, a bit excited. Sunny bobbled along in Violet's arms, curious to see what was in store as well.
The day went on with you and Monty showing the children to their rooms, feeding them, showing them pictures, giving them a tour, and telling them stories. The two of you answered any questions the Baudelaires had for them. They asked anything along the lines of how did you guys know their parents, how you guys met, and what you do for work.
You two happily explained your line of work had to do with reptiles, but more excitedly for the two of you, snakes. The two of you were Herpetologists and met while doing fieldwork to study an extremely venomous snake.
“What kind of snake?” Klaus asked, looking through some of the study books through the reptile room his new caretakers were showing him and his siblings.
Your eyes lit up at the question, “The saw-scaled viper.” You answered quickly, standing in the middle of the room, keeping your eyes on Violet who was near the cages, and Sunny who was on the table near Monty.
Monty nodded, “It’s one of the deadliest snakes found in the middle east.” He explained, showing Sunny some images of snakes as he gave her another carrot.
Violet's fingers ran along the metal of the cage, a bit of her was fearful of grazing the scales of the snake. You noticed her fear and reassured her, “None of the snakes in cages with metal bars are venomous, especially not that one.” You told her, walking over to the area. “This one is an african egg eating snake.” You explained, opening the cage, but looking at her before you opened it any wider.
Violet gave you a nervous look but you assured her with a nod that it was okay. She eventually took a deep breath and let you take the snake out the cage. It wrapped around your hand and you held the head gently, showing her that the snake had no fangs. “She only eats eggs, she’s no bark and no bite, I promise.” You told her and she smiled as she observed the reptile.
After a while in the reptile room the Baudelaires all washed up and headed to bed. You and Monty said goodnight to each of the Buadelaires together, telling them that they could come eat and come get one of you whenever they needed something.
After putting them to sleep, you and Monty went downstairs to eat the last slice of cake.
After a bit of silence you suddenly started chuckling and Monty looked up at you with a raised brow, “What is it?” He asked you, chewing at the cake. You shook your head, “You looked terrified.” You told him, laughing a little louder before clasping your hand over your mouth as to not wake the children.
Monty looked at you bewildered, eyes wide as he swallowed his cake harshly. “You could tell?” He asked, his body deflating. He was now completely leaning on the counter and you laughed even more, rubbing his shoulder. “Of course I could, they couldn’t though, believe me.” You explained to him and he just looked up at you with nervousness in his eyes. You rubbed your hand in circles from his shoulder to his back, “They were nervous too, don’t worry.”
Monty sighed, puffing air out of his cheeks as he slowly slid to the ground, you sitting next to him when you noticed what he was doing. “I just want them to feel safe, I mean Olaf just…” He trailed off, putting his face in his hands. You put your head on his shoulder, holding his hand to remove it from his face. “They will be safe, I know we haven’t taken care of actual children before but…” You began, sighing with a smile, “I know we’ll make them feel safe and happy.” You told him quietly.
He turned his head to you, moving your noses together, “How are you always so right and amazing?” He asked you, his brown eyes looking deeply into yours. You smiled at him, rolling his eyes, “Well one of us has to be.” You teased, he laughed a bit at your words. He moved forward, pressing the two of your lips together gently in a gentle kiss that tasted of coconut cream pie and lemonade from earlier.
Through the silence and soft kisses, the two of you didn’t hear the sound of footsteps retreating back up the stairs. Klaus and Violet, who was holding Sunny, were smiling at each other in their pajamas. They wanted to look around a bit, curious to see if the two of you were genuine in your intentions but that was all they needed.
Violet put Sunny back to sleep in her room, closing the door quietly, face to face with Klaus. Klaus adjusted his glasses, “I think this will be good for us.” He spoke in a hushed whisper, Violet nodded. “They’re nice.” She spoke with a grin and Klaus was the one who nodded this time.
The two walked to their respective room doors, opening them slightly.
“Goodnight Violet.”
“Goodnight Klaus.”
For the first time since their parents died, they were excited to wake up the next morning. Almost too excited to go to sleep once they reached their beds, smiles hurting their cheeks. This would be good for them, to live with the uncles who were happy together. Maybe the Baudelaires could be just as happy with them.

Hiya Nikki ! Thanks for sending this in!!!
Because of the cold weather Monty will have me help him take care of the reptiles. We’ll be in the reptile room, often as The Incredibly Deadly Viper is wrapped around my body like a cross between an overgrown puppy and a long scarf, as we go over poetry and music. Often times Sunny, Klaus and Violet will join us.

When it rains my Grandfather, The Storyteller likes to pass his time the way he always does (or in any day that ends in a Y) and that is with a story. My hair done up in a towel, sitting by the warm fire with Dog as he starts to spin one marvellous tale after another.
Tumblr media
My favourite grandson from the future Bart likes to watch movies with me. We being out lots of sweets and cakes and pick a ton of films to watch. He says it helps him play catch up with the modern day, which I think is a lie but don’t tell him that. Often its family movies that I pick, but I also make him watch some scottish media to let him know where he gets some of his snarkiness from.

(You can also find this story on AO3)
~ To Catch A Selkie ~
1789; aboard the sailing ship Enterprise
Montgomery Scott - it was still strange to get used to a last name - smiled melancholically as he watched the sea, that was illuminated by the setting sun. His home. The place he had grown up in. The place he could never return to.
He still remembered how almost one year ago a man - a doctor - had kidnapped his little brother and had taken Montgomery's coat. The coat made from his fur. The only way for a Selkie to turn back into their seal form.
Aye, a Selkie. That was what he was. What he had always been. But it had been taken from him. His life. His family. His coat.
The horrible man had burned it. And by doing that he had destroyed the Selkie's life.
Montgomery had to stay in his human form. Forever.
"Hey there, Monty. Is everything alright?"
The Selkie blinked in surprise when arms wrapped around him from behind and he let out a heavy sigh, snuggling closer to the person standing behind him.
"Aye, mo ghràdh."
His love. The man who had saved him. The man who had taught him how humans talked and how they behaved. The man who was always there for him.
Dr. Leonard Horatio McCoy.
At first, the Southern man had only been a friend and a teacher for the Selkie, but over time their relationship had turned into something else. A... romance.
Montgomery loved McCoy with all his heart and he knew that the man would do anything to protect him from this still strange world.
"You don't sound too sincere. Something is on your mind, isn't it?"
Slowly, Montgomery turned around in the doctor's arms and placed his hands on the man's chest. McCoy knew him just too well.
"It's just... I miss me home. This... whole big world that ye show me; it's... gorgeous, but whenever I watch the sunset I long to be back at home. Back... with me family."
His mother. His grandfather. His brother. He just wanted to swim with them again, wanted to play and cuddle with them.
But he knew that it was impossible.
"Oh, Montgomery, if only I could help you. You know that I'd do anything-"
A weak smile crossed the Selkie's lips as he placed a hand on his love's cheek.
"Aye, I know, Leonard. And I'm very grateful for it."
Before the doctor could say another word, Montgomery caught his mouth with his own and kissed him gently. A way of humans showing their endearment for each other.
Once their lips parted, their was a soft smile on McCoy's face. He gently grabbed Montgomery's hands.
"Come on. Let's get some sleep, shall we? Tomorrow we'll arrive at our next point of destination."
Montgomery nodded slowly, however, he couldn't help but glance over his shoulder one more time.
A new country was awaiting them. A new adventure. And he really wondered what Australia might look like.

Australia was a truly magical place. There were so many new things to see and discover. Although Montgomery, who was used to the cold of the north, got a little too warm, he enjoyed exploring the area. Especially because the usually grumpy McCoy was running around beaming with joy.
Of course he was. The sunshine probably reminded him of his home in America. The doctor had often told Montgomery about his home. Of the fields, the plants, the fruit.
He had always promised that he would show the Selkie everything one day after their journey with the Enterprise. And despite his own homesickness, Montgomery was already looking forward to getting to know the place where the man he loved had grown up.
They had only been in the village for two days when Montgomery woke up in his cabin one morning to find the space in the bed next to him empty. Confused, he tilted his head and smelled the pillow.
No... McCoy hadn't been there all night. The familiar smell of him was too old.
Slowly, the Selkie got to his feet and dressed. Even after a year, it was still strange for him to wear the warm, scratchy clothes of humans, but he did it because it was appropriate.
His path led him through the entire ship and his heart beat faster.
"Has anyone seen Dr. McCoy? Anyone?"
No one could give him a positive answer. The uneasy feeling spread more and more through Montgomery's body and it wasn't until he met Sulu and Chekov, who had been keeping watch that night, that he finally got the answer he was looking for.
"The captain and the doctor are not back from their shore leave yet," Sulu explained and Chekov grinned across both cheeks.
"They probably had too much to drink at some place and then fell asleep on the spot."
Montgomery just shook his head, his eyes wide with worry. No... McCoy would never just leave him alone. Not even for one night. Of course he had told Montgomery that he had an appointment with the captain in the evening, but he had promised to be back in the morning. He had promised!
Without even waiting for another word from the sailors, Montgomery ran off the ship.
He had to find him! He had to find McCoy!
The Selkie looked around in panic. Where should he start looking? Where could the captain and the doctor have gone?
His feet carried him as if of their own accord and he hurried towards the village, shuddering. He hated it. He hated being among so many unknown people by himself.
But he had to find McCoy!
His eyes wandered down every alley, into every building, and yet he almost ran past a crucial side street. He quickly came to a halt, almost stumbled, and rushed to the motionless person lying on the ground.
"Captain!"
A soft moan was all he got for an answer at first, however the blond man's eyes quickly fluttered open.
"Scotty?" It wasn't much more than a slurred murmur. Aye, the captain had chosen a nickname for the Selkie a while ago. Montgomery was still getting used to it though.
"What happened? Are ye alright, sir?"
At first, Kirk looked confused, then he chuckled.
"Oh, I'm... I'm perfectly fine. I had a great night, met a nice lady-" The captain hiccuped. Only then did Montgomery notice the smell of alcohol all over his counterpart. The man wasn't hurt. He was just drunk.
The Selkie looked around.
"Where's Leonard?"
Kirk blinked a few times, obviously trying to remember the last night, but eventually he shrugged, his eyes closing again.
"Don't know," he muttered and before Montgomery could even try to wake him up again, a voice sounded from behind him.
"Are you looking for the man who accompanied this young fellow last night?"
Scotty's head whirled around and at the end of the street, he saw a young lass, wearing a pretty dress.
He hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"I think I saw him going into that house over there."
With a nod of her head, the woman indicated at a building close by and Montgomery quickly got to his feet. He'd take care of the drunken captain later. For now, McCoy was all that mattered.
The lady once again pointed at the house she had talked about and without thinking, Montgomery made his way over to it.
Even though McCoy had taught him that one was supposed to knock, the Selkie's worry about his love was too big. He grabbed the doorknob and quietly entered the house.
He was greeted by several smells. Most of them obviously belonged to women. Montgomery wrinkled his nose. What was this place?
There seemed to be no one at home. At least not downstairs.
The Selkie looked into every room, then made his way up the stairs. He winced when he stepped onto a creaking step and for a moment he feared that the owner of the house had heard him.
However, his worry about his own sake soon changed when he heard muffled noises coming from a room.
He knew that voice. He knew it quite well.
'Leonard!'
No longer caring about being quiet, the Selkie ran upstairs and burst into the room where the noise had come from.
What he saw made his blood freeze.
There he was! McCoy! Tied to a chair, gagged with a piece of cloth, a huge flat wound on his forehead.
"Mo ghràdh!"
As fast as he could, Montgomery ran over to the doctor who was shaking his head violently. He tried to say something, but the gag in his mouth made it impossible.
Montgomery was just about to remove the cloth when he heard the door behind them close with a loud thud. He whirled around and saw a man with a riffle gun standing next to the closed door. There was a smug grin on his face.
"Gotcha!"
Once again, McCoy tried to talk and despite Montgomery staring at the other man in shock, he removed the cloth with one hand.
The doctor coughed for a bit, then glared at the man at the door.
"You bastard! You won't get through with this, Mudd!"
The man - Mudd - only laughed.
"Oh, but I already did. I got what I wanted. And you really were the perfect bait, doctor. Your Selkie really loves you, huh?"
Montgomery's eyes widened in horror.
No... no, no, no. No one was allowed to talk about it! No member of the crew talked about Montgomery's origins!
"How... how would ye know?"
Mudd's grin only widened as he stepped closer to his two prisoners, gun ready to shoot.
"It's easy to get information out of strangers. All you need is a pretty lady, lots of alcohol, a young stupid captain..."
Montgomery shook his head in disbelief. No. Not Kirk!
But if it really had been the captain who had told Mudd about his special crewmember, then... the lady who had told him about the house... it had all been a trick!
"A real Selkie. Back in Britain we talked a lot about these Scottish creatures. I bet the royal family would like to have a pet. Only in exchange for a lot of money, of course."
With a wide grin, Mudd lunged at Montgomery who quickly backed away.
"You don't need him! He's useless for you! His coat was destroyed and he can't turn back into a seal!"
McCoy tried to convince the man who had kidnapped him, at the same time pulling at his restraints, but Mudd didn't care.
"Oh, I'm pretty sure once we're back in Britain, I can find a nice seal and skin it. Then we can test it out with a new coat."
Montgomery gritted his teeth in anger. Not only had this monster hurt and kidnapped his love, he also planned on hurting and killing his kind.
That was enough!
He didn't think too much about his actions and jumped at his counterpart, tackling him down to the floor.
Mudd, who was obviously surprised by the sudden outburst, lost his gun in the process and yelped in shock as the Selkie started to choke him, yelling out angry swears in a language the man didn't understand.
"Monty!"
Montgomery heard McCoy's voice but it didn't reach him. He was blinded by his rage. He just wanted to kill this man!
He didn't know how it happened, but somehow Mudd managed to break free from his grip. In panic, the man crawled across the floor and grabbed his riffle gun.
A shot rang out and Montgomery yelped in pain when he felt the bullet enter his shoulder. He fell to the ground.
"No!"
McCoy. His love. He was worried about him. He... he was scared.
"Monty, no!"
Montgomery's eyes moved from his love's panicked face to Mudd who was getting up on his knees again, ready to fire once more. His eyes were filled with anger.
"I'll kill you, you stupid-"
He didn't get to finish his sentence for suddenly three bullets hit him and he stumbled backwards, staring at the door in shock, before he crashed right through the window.
For a long moment, Montgomery looked at the shattered glass, then his eyes moved over to the door.
Sulu, Chekov, Spock. They... had saved him. And they had saved McCoy.
"Monty! Monty, are you okay?"
The Selkie turned his head around so that he could look into McCoy's eyes. He nodded slowly. Aye... he... he was just fine.
"He's losing blood! Hurry up and untie me! Quick!"
Montgomery watched as Sulu and Chekov both ran over to the doctor and started to loosen the restraints. He blinked a few times.
Blood? He... was losing blood?
His eyes fell onto his right shoulder and he stared in disbelief at the red liquid soaking through his shirt.
And seconds later, darkness fell upon him.
~
When he woke up, he was lying in his bed aboard the ship. He looked around in confusion, but soon enough calmed down when he saw a familar person sitting next to him.
"Len..."
The doctor's head turned to face him and a gentle smile formed on his lips.
"Hey there, Montgomery. I see you are awake already."
The Selkie noticed a bandage wrapped around McCoy's head and his eyes widened in shock.
The dark-haired man quickly seemed to notice what Montgomery was staring at, so he smiled soothingly.
"Oh, don't worry about that. It's gonna leave a nasty scar, but it will heal. Just like your shoulder."
Montgomery's eyes moved to his own body and he saw a similar bandage as the one his love was wearing.
"Ye... ye saved me."
Quickly a hand found its way onto his cheek and a thumb gently stroked across his skin.
"Of course I did. Just like you saved me, Monty."
Montgomery blinked a few times, trying to remember what had happened. He sighed.
"No... Mr. Spock and the others saved you."
McCoy chuckled softly.
"Technically, yes. But they only searched for me after you ran away. If you hadn't had a strange feeling, then they would never have thought that something was actually wrong."
Montgomery nodded slowly. Aye, maybe that was true. Another man came to his mind.
"Is... the captain alright?"
At hearing that name, the doctor groaned in annoyance.
"Yes, he is. He got lots of sleep and water. And a good telling-off from both me and Miss Uhura."
Montgomery couldn't help but smile at hearing that. He was quite sure that Kirk already regretted everything very much.
"I'm sure he will come around later on to apologize."
"Aye."
The Selkie's face darkened and he swallowed hardly. "And... this man? Mudd?"
McCoy sighed.
"Dead. We told the locals about what had happened and they said that it had often been speculated that he was a criminal. Now they had their prove."
The Selkie nodded once more. Mudd had been a horrible man. He was really glad that he couldn't hurt anyone else anymore. No human or Selkie or whatever kind.
"But let's forget about this whole thing, shall we? Let's... just be happy that we're alive."
Montgomery's eyes met McCoy's and in them he could only see relief and love. The same love that the Selkie felt for him.
"Aye. Let's be happy."

follow up to my semi on-going Role Swap AU - our PCs as the NPCs! breakdown of their changed backstories under the cut as we do
Ororo Kitesong - Thief Rogue, ship pilot
A rare exception, Ororo is one of the few airship pilots who is not a member of house Lyrandar - and yet she seems to fly the ship just fine, either through sheer charm or maybe you just need to tell the ship who’s boss, y’all
She’s clearly clockable as a rogue, but if you ask her what she did before becoming a pilot or before joining the expedition, her answer changes every time. Who’s askin’? The only consistent part of her story is tales of her grandmother seem to make a regular appearance from her.
Seems to have a bit of a tense, past friendship with the captain, and works close enough with the ship’s wayfinder that the two have become frequent drinking buddies
Montgomery Grey - Soulknife Rogue / Barbarian, first mate
Despite being professional enough, most of the crew avoid this aloof dragon as her mood can change at the drop of a cowboy hat, going from a casual conversation one minute to barking orders the next. Generally at most hours on the ship, Monty keeps her distance from nearly everyone, with the exception of the captain who she seems closer to than even her own sister.
Traditionally a Soulknife uses psionic blades, but Monty has been able to summon what little magic she has in her blood to train her weapons into other forms. Some would swear they’ve seen even a lasso spring out of her hands.
Has a bit of a thing for that gal who pals around with that ranger, but has no interest in getting close to anyone on this ship that could get in the way of the plan, even pretty palominos
[I’m cheating by giving Monty a second class but it’s necessary]
Tequila - Totem of the Dragon Barbian, assistant gunner
Growing up in the wilderness gave this verison of Tequila more of a wild side - she shys away from battles much less here, and fights rather brutally. Still, it’s obvious her rage comes more from a sense of valor and the want to protect her friends
Followed Monty onto this ship after not seeing her for almost five years, but refuses to tell anyone why or where they came from - mostly because she can’t. Her Common is very poor, and she can really only speak clearly in Dragonic or Goblin, so most days she chooses to say very little.
Found herself growing close to the artificers on the ship, especially the more abrasive one - she minds her a lot of her aunt
Wayfinder Stormchaser - War Wizard, ship captain / Compass, familiar
The stoic captain of the Celeste Noir who seems to be searching for something lost, no one is completely sure how a Warforged came to be captain of an airship, as he answers vaguely, if he even answers at all. Most assume it might be from his time in the war, as he is rumored to be a powerful war caster
Speaks to the crew rarely, speaking the most with the first mate who almost seems to be his confidante, and he isn't as much of a stranger to the wayfinder either. And of course, the pilot - you always protect the pilot
Has a clear affinity for storms that shows through when he does use magic on the ship, his favorites being Gust, Ray of Frost, and Witchbolt
For all the ways he is aloof and quiet, his familiar is anything but; Compass is a vicious seabird who always seems to be keeping a watchful eye on the crew. Especially that stupid owl.
Dr. Acapella Goodman - Peace Cleric, head ship doctor
An ex-street rat turned Acolyte, I decided immediately that Capella's story is the same. That she "stole" her invitation, believing it was a sign from her lord to join a great expedition (certainly this kind of journey would need a healer!); that she is clearly not a Dr. Goodman but everyone lets her be the boss anyway because she's great at it; and that Benjamin just has to roll with it. Hilarious.
Hmm what would the patron swap with. A god of dreams?
Breezy Weekes - Circle of the Stars Druid, ship librarian / navigator
I think this AU of Breezy would have a "modern" version of a druid tribe, like maybe Moonwatch is for Breezy what Runswick is for Monty; here she gains an affinity for the stars (possibly by extension, the planes thanks to her dad), making her a perfect choice as a navigator to guide the ship even at night
A much more nerdy version who takes after her dad instead of her mom, she doesn't have that rogue savy-ness, making her less of a risk taker. This aesthetic is also for maximum whiplash when a nervous sweater vest librarian turns into a fucking panther right in front of you
It's absolutely completely meaningless that her position on the ship causes her to spend a lot of time with the cartographer! So what if she's cute!
Liseran Verona - War Wizard, quartermaster
Similar to Delphinium, the soldiers stories are harder for me to conceptualize, but here since I imagined Del as the noble who is running away, it makes sense that Liseran would be the one sent to find her. Learning that the ship is set to travel over the Mournlands, I think Liseran would agree to help Del with whatever she is trying to do to try and discover what happened to Cyre, and slowly, if not immediately, abandons the idea of bringing her back.
Funny enough, doesn't really use her magic often, but when she does she tends to favor offensive spells like Magic Missile and Booming Blade.
(I hate to take this from Ororo, but since Liseran's family were bakers, I really like the idea that she's the chef here,,,,)
