The Composition of E-Waste

Electronic waste, also known as e-waste, is made up of a wide variety of different materials. The category of waste can include everything from toys and consumer electronics to medical equipment to telecommunications equipment, all of which have differing amounts of nearly every type of common materials (plastics/polymers, glass, metals, ceramics, semiconductors, etc.). By weight, iron, plastics, aluminum, and copper make up the majority of many e-waste materials. Looking at value, though, precious and scarce metals make up most of the cost (such as gold, silver, and palladium, or selenium, tantalum, and germanium).

Beyond that, many forms of electronic waste contain toxic or hazardous chemical such as arsenic, lead, mercury, or chromium:

Batteries and cathode ray tubes often contain lead

Mercury can be found in thermostats and sensors, in gas discharge lamps and many printed circuit boards (PCBs)

Liquid crystal displays and printer inks and toners should be treated separately and chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, and hydrofluorocarbons can be found in electronics such as refrigerators with insulating foams

To give an example for all these facts, let's look at mobile/cell phones:

Phones are said to contain ~40 different elements

Of the most common materials by weight, phones are ~43% plastic, 7% iron, 3% aluminum, and 13% copper

Looking at precious metals, phones are ~3000ppm silver, 320ppm gold, and 120ppm palladium (approximated as over 90% of the value of the phone in terms of raw materials)

Rare earth metals can be found in many places in a phone, include the screen, circuitry, and speakers. Vibrating cell phones are usually thanks to neodymium, dysprosium, and/or praseodymium.

Phone batteries are typically lithium-ion but older phones especially can have nickel-metal-hydride or nickel-cadmium batteries

The plastic casing is typically polycarbonate and/or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene

Chargers are mostly copper and plastic, but can contain flame retardants that can include gold, cadmium, or bromine

he'd dye his hair with you, probably just dye a strip the color that you're doing.

he'd have strong opinions on the color that you are getting because it's going on his head too. "i'm thinking you should do green." "green won't look good on my skin tone and you wanted us to have the same color, right?" "green, goes with my eyes tho" "eren, this is going on my whole head." "and?"

he'd be in the store literally touching every green in the store. "eren, we aren't doing green." "but, this one is so pretty." *cue puppy dog eyes* "no" "but babe 😭😭😭"

you let him pick the color as long as it's not green.

he finds a loophole and picks teal.

eren isn't super messy with getting the dye on stuff and things, but he would defiantly be the one to get it all over himself. "eren, you have dye on your leg" "how did it get there???"

he would have no clue what he is doing, what what he lacks in knowledge he makes up for in enthusiasm. you'd be mostly giving him directions.

he didn't use gloves and has teal hands for a while.

he'd force you into a photoshoot afterwards to show to world your matching hair.

you would tell him you wanted to dye your hair and depending on the color you want and your natural color he'd be researching what to do and what techniques to use.

he would be the one telling you what products you should buy

"babe, no that one will turn it too copper-toned. we need this one. it has the cool tones you want." "oh, this is a good toner!" "use this to seal it. it'll last longer" "you know you should never use hot water on colored hair, right? it'll fade faster."

eventually, you just let him do the shopping and you picked the color. this is exactly what he wanted.

he's so excited to dye your hair. he is taking a chair from your kitchen into the bathroom and opening the gloves before you even have a chance to put your stuff down.

his technique is pretty much flawless. the bleach lifts evenly and the color goes down evenly. *chefs kiss*

the cleanest out of the guys when it comes to dyeing hair. there is not a spot anywhere in your bathroom or on each other.

he (like eren) would immediately do a photoshoot so you can show off your new color.

he would also help you pick out an outfit that coordinates with the new color

jean

jean pretty much goes along with your hair dye plans and adventures. he's perfectly helpful and follows directions when it comes to the application process

i specifically have an image of you and him in the hair store. he placed his chin on your shoulder while you're picking out colors, not quite sure what you want.

he's not very helpful with choosing a color because he just wants you happy. "i can't decide between this neon orange or this peachy orange. what do you think Jean?" "i don't care, love. whatever you want." "that's not helpful"

eventually, he'll loose his patience tho and just buy both for you saying you can do one now and the other later.

he's the type to use his hands to dye your hair instead of a brush, but somehow he didn't miss a spot.

jean gives the best head massages while you're rinsing out the color or bleach, like you almost fall asleep it's so relaxing.

once it's done, he's the type to not help you with the post-hair-dye-photoshoot, but he admires you from a distance.

To quickly note, I received this for free from Wishtrend for my honest review.

The ampoule contains 30 ml (1.01 oz) and has no fragrance or artificial coloring. The fragrance tag has a very noticeable scent which is amazing to throw in your closet or just hang in a room that needs a refreshing scent.

The ampoule comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a dropper.

The ampoule has a milky cream texture and is rather lightweight.

It blends out with a watery feeling on the skin.

Once blended in, it really brightens and refreshes the skin as well as being deeply hydrating and smoothing.

Recommended use is after cleansing and prepping your skin with toner, evenly apply 2-3 drops to the skin and gently spread over your face. Lightly pat for full absorption.  It’s cruelty-free, pH balanced, silicone-free, artificial coloring-free, artificial fragrance-free, and vegan. After using, I found as advertised this is amazing for sensitive skin. It's extremely gentle, hydrating and nourishing and really agrees well with my skin. The ingredients are free of irritants and it has some very good skin loving properties as well. As mentioned above this doesn't have any fragrance, artificial or natural and the packaging is quite nice. The fragrance tag shown above is also pretty amazing, it has a refreshing but strong fragrance and is ideal for throwing in the closet or hanging around your room to freshen up the air. I'd recommend this ampoule to anyone with any kind of sensitivity as well as to people with dry and naturally irritated skin.

What I like: this ampoule is very nourishing, moisturizing, and gentle. It has great ingredients and very nice packaging. The quality is really nice and it keeps skin hydrated and soothed for a long time after use. What I don't like: nothing, it's a great product.

k bought my copper plate and shina block.....committing to doing an 18x24" woodcut lord knows why I do this to myself but i've been craving relief and it should be a fun composition to work on (on issues my city faces, housing crisis, fires, coastal erosion, etc, w lots of fun references for locals)

sooooo as far as prep work I need to cut down my plate to probably 12x18" (kinda considering 12x17" tbh even though it's sort of an oddball measurement, i guess it's basically a3 ratio though) and grain stones -- probably two for this print, I think I'll do a key layer, run a collage-y toner transfer onto another stone, then counter-etch the key and alter it into a transparent tonal layer to pop the highlights?
