out of curiosity and definitely not because of any character concepts/designs i may or may not be working on: rider forms w/ human clothes... yes or no?
like, i know wizard has his coat-waist-flap things, & the quartzers from zi-o's movie have their... things, but what if a rider had, like, a leather jacket and/or sunglasses? would that look too dumb?

As a real life horse girl, I present:
Starfleet Captains as Different Kinds of Horse Girls
The actual canonical horse girls:
Kirk: The Show Off. Kirk is genuinely a great rider with soft hands and a good seat, but due to this high skill level and his natural disposition, he can be overconfident and do dumb things that result in injury and/or (according to McCoy) death. He loves a flashy horse with high chrome (white markings) to match his own dashing looks.
Picard: The Spiritual. Picard seeks connection with his horse, who he sees as an equal, and hones his skill-set as a rider to maximize this communication. Riding is a relaxing, emotionally cleansing activity for him that centers his mind. He has this quote stamped into his saddle: "When you first meet a horse, his instinct tells him you are a predator. Gain his trust, and you become his protector."
Pike: The Cowboy. Pike's horse is his companion and he rides to reconnect with the past when times were simpler. Not picky with breeds or looks, he’s content with his fuzzy Quarter Horse. He relishes the freedom of open skies and endless plains, the solid earth beneath him keeping him grounded.
NOT canonical horse girls (but could be if they just believed):
Janeway: The Competitor. Dressage, cross country, show jumping, she does them all. Hair slicked back, jodhpurs tight, boots polished, Janeway enters the ring to win. And she does. She chooses horses that have the same fire and intensity that she does and together they are an unbeatable team.
Sisko: The Polo Player. Ball is life, even on a horse. Sisko's team of competitive polo ponies are trained to a tee. He relishes the intensity of the game, the teamwork, and the difficulty of the hand-eye coordination. Winning isn't as important as the thrill of not dying.
Archer: The horseless. Archer is the kid you knew in middle school who was obsessed with horses and knew everything about them but never had one. Instead, he settled with pretending his dog was a horse. I cannot emphasize enough how much this man oozes naive horse girl energy.
Freeman: The Rehabilitator. Freeman rode competitively when she was younger but now has found a great sense of purpose in seeking out the broken and forgotten horses. She focuses on the "dangerous and un-fixable" off-the-track thoroughbreds and rehabilitates them to become their best selves.
*I do not know enough about the various Disco captains to have thoughts on them but Saru has actual horse energy.

Characters that share the same voice as Smokescreen!
(That I personally find interesting)
- Deadpool (No, not Ryan Reynolds. Though hearing him voice Smokescreen would be funny.)
- Fish from Cat and The Hat Movie (I forgot he had a voice)
- Hades in God of War (O.O I'm just scrolling through his voices, but imma have to look into this one)
- Hank Pym (This is from 2006, so not too recent)
- Ghost Rider in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (another voice I want to hear)
- TMNT 2007 Raphael (This was a video game, but still cool as heck)
- Nathan Drake (I saw the Uncharted movie, it was cool. He probably sounds really cool in the game)
- Goldar (In a power rangers video game? I grew up on power rangers)
- Desmond Miles (Don't know much about Assassin's Creed, but I think he's an important character)
- Sideswipe (Transformer: Rise of the Fallen)
- Stoick (How to train your dragon video game, and other media)
- Brawl (Transformers: War for Cybertron)
- The Penguin (Batman video games)
- David from The Last of Us (I feel like Smokescreen would be horrified)
- Skylynx (From the same continuity as Smokescreen. The giant Predacon shares Smokescreen's voice. They need to talk.)
- The Kraang (2013 TMNT)
- Superboy (Don't know much, but I can see Smokescreen being Superman's kid)
- Engineer (TF2 short, Expiration Date. TF2 is really funny)
- Green Goblin (Video game. Is the voice actor good at deep, creepy voices? That would be scary if Smokescreen talked like that)
- Leonardo, Shedder, Splinter (He voices a lot of TMNT characters, this is in a video game btw)
- Tony Stark (In a some games... And Fortnight)
- Ghost (Destiny seems like a cool game)
- Metroplex (Transformers: Titans Return)
- Chrome Dome (Transf- wait... What do you mean this is another TMNT character?)
- Modi (God of War, guess there's more than one. Is Modi the head?)
- Asmodeus in Scooby-Doo (Isn't he the devil of lust or something?)
- He's background characters in ROTTMNT...
- Superman (A few different media)
- Joker (Scooby-Doo and Krypto too)
- Swindle (Transformers: Earthspark)
That's a lot of voices...
EDIT: Well fuck... He's really good at terrifying. Smokescreen would be a very scary villain just with his voice alone.

Benjamin F. Hardy (July 25, 1921-1994) was an African-American custom motorcycle builder who made the Captain America and Billy choppers for the 1969 Peter Fonda road movie Easy Rider.
The Captain America bike, made from a then 20-year-old, heavily customized Harley-Davidson panhead is considered one of the most iconic motorcycles ever built.
Working with another African motorcycle builder, coordinator Cliff Vaughs, Hardy built two 'Billy' bikes and three 'Captain Americas', one of which was destroyed in the making of the movie, the rest of which were stolen. Each bike had a backup to make sure that shooting could continue in case one of the old machines failed or got wrecked accidentally. The 'Billy' bike was typical of the custom motorcycles Black bikers were riding at the time.
Hardy and Vaughs remained largely unknown and uncredited for 25 years as they were not accepted due to being African-Americans, and were not welcomed into the mainstream motorcycle world in the USA.
Known locally as "Benny" and "King of Bikes" Ben Hardy's Motorcycle Service was located at 1168 E. Florence in Los Angeles. He was a mentor to many of the local motorcyclists in South Central, Los Angeles.
His work was featured in the “Black Chrome” exhibition at the California African American Museum

Hooray hooray, its Sunday! Time for six more sentences (...ish) in which, this time, I'll let yall simply guess at what this is an actual AU of. Its not difficult, but what can I say. I'm easily entertained. (And to all yall that tagged me already today — bless you, you're the only thing helping me keep track of the days at all).
There are three minutes until the show and he isn’t coming. He isn’t coming, and there are three minutes until Alex has to be inside, standing next to Pez and Marco, snapping his fingers and singing about going prowling for chicks, while somewhere in the night the man who owns his heart is barreling down open roads, roads that don’t lead to — “Oh my God Alex, isn’t that him?!” June’s voice cuts through his building panic like a hot knife through butter, and his eyes follow her finger to the far east side of the parking lot where Alex can just make out a shadow cutting through the beams of headlights, weaving in and out of the waiting line of traffic.  In less than a second, Alex is off the top step and plowing down the entrance of the school until he’s on flat ground, his leather jacket heavy on his shoulders in the lingering heat of the April day. He can hear him now, the rumble of the motorcycle snaking up through the bottom of Alex’s feet as the bike comes to rest at the curb, squeezed between two cars, headlights throwing blinding slices of light off the chrome of the bike, off the metal details that dot the black leather jacket stretched across the rider’s shoulders.  “You came,” Alex says, his voice thin as he struggles to catch his breath after his sprint down the stairs.  Without a word, the figure on the bike nods. “Told you I would."
I'll leave my tags under the cut, but as is USUALLY the case, I'm late enough in the day that most of yall have already gotten yours up! If you haven't, nows the time — consider this your open tag!

6 & 29 for the ask game? i love your work!!
6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?
not "all the time" per se but i've definitely gone back to both fill in the blanks by @mindshelter and blush by @misspickman a few times. what can i say, i love it when tim is besotted and kon gets loved <3
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
okay i DO plan to post this.. eventually... when i finish the other 5 chapters of it... but given that i have no idea when that will be, here's a bit of the "jon's friends keep thinking his big brother is hot and he's in hell about it" wip sfdkjh (under the cut for length!!)
fanfic writer asks!
Any thoughts Yichen had about going to the skate park tomorrow get zapped clean out of his head as an engine purrs, and a sleek, sexy as hell motorcycle peels into the parking lot.
It’s a gorgeous dark red color, with black accents, exposed chrome exhaust pipes, and a front light and handlebars to match. It’s not obnoxiously loud, but its thrum is powerful and satisfying. It sounds expensive, if that’s even possible.
The sexy bike rolls to a stop right in front of the three of them, and the rider rests his foot on the ground for support. He’s tall and broad-shouldered, wearing a leather jacket covered in patches and studs—the shoulders are spiked, and a little chain dangles from one of the pockets.
Yichen identifies a few hero logoes among the patches on both the back and front; there’s the Superman family crest, obviously, on one shoulder, and then Wonder Woman’s winged W on a trapezoid. One of the Flash lightning bolts, too, in red and white—Yichen isn’t good at remembering which hero is which, outside of Metropolis. Is that… no, Kid Flash is yellow. Oh well. There’s others he doesn’t recognize at all, like a round yellow-and-black one right over the rider’s heart with a weird… bird-shaped thing, maybe?
Man, he really oughtta brush up on his heroes.
But that’s beside the point, because holy shit. This guy—this is the coolest guy he’s ever seen in his life! That jacket, the boots—chunky, thick-soled, covered in belts and buckles—and the ripped jeans, with barely-visible fishnets peeking out through the tears. This guy has fashion! Ho-lee shit, what is someone like that doing here?
Jon hops down from the brick fence with a sigh. “Alright,” he says, and leans down to pick up his backpack. “Well, I’ll see you guys.”
“Wait,” Priya says. “That’s your ride?”
Jon blinks. “Uh, yeah? Why?”
The cool as hell motorcyclist pulls off his helmet. Yichen’s jaw drops.
It’s like seeing Jon’s dad’s face transplanted onto a guy half his age and so much hotter. He’s got high cheekbones and a square jaw ever-so-slightly dotted with stubble, and piercing blue eyes just like Jon’s dad, and his hair falls in curls that should be crushed and flattened from the helmet but somehow still look amazing.
“Yo, Jonno!” Conner calls. “C’mon, we’re gonna hold up traffic!”
“I’m coming!” Jon hollers back. “I’m just saying bye, jeez!”
Yichen finally remembers how to close his mouth and does so. He doesn’t feel cold anymore—his face is on fire. “Dude.”
Jon tilts his head quizzically. “Yeah?”
“Dude,” Yichen repeats.
“What, Yichen?” Jon glances at Priya for clarification, but doesn’t seem to find any. What the hell does he need clarified here?
“Dude!” Yichen clutches at his hair. “Duuuude!”
“What!” Jon hefts his backpack onto his shoulders. “Stop ‘dude’ing at me and say it already!”
Yichen jumps down from the brick wall and grabs Jon by the shoulders. How does he not get it? How does he not get it?!
“Dude,” he says, as intense and emphatic as he can hope to get. He shakes Jon slightly, then points at Conner. “That is your brother?”
“Uh… yes?” Jon squints at him. “Is that, uh… a problem?”
Yichen clutches at his hair again. “Dude!” he exclaims in consternation. Grabs at Jon’s shoulders again. “Oh my god. Dude! Dude! You never told me your brother is hot!”
Out of the corner of his eye, Yichen almost thinks he sees Conner laugh. Except that’s not possible, because the engine definitely drowned out his words—they’re not that close to the roadside. Priya definitely laughs, though, covering her mouth with one hand.
Jon, meanwhile, wrinkles his nose. “…Ew.”

servant guda summoned in a holy grail war
caster guda who seems to have the most obvious class. the more generations come, the more a story changes - of course the savior of humanity would be a brilliant caster. but no, they aren't your typical mage. they use an advanced form of projection magic, making them the perfect decoy. they switch between a sharp red bow, a silver broadsword, and oddly, a yellow paw shaped club. when caster activates their noble phantasm, their arms glow in strange patterns of gold. an anti demon measure that can be used best with a command spell: ars exitio daemoniorum.
rider guda who laments their class. they have the worst mount, a giant tank they call the shadow border. they claim to not even know how to operate it - but it's not like you could get around in it without gaining a crowd. rider’s version is externally smaller than the original and has no access to the paper moon. with practice they manage to condense it into a motorcycle nicknamed shadow bear. it growls at you when you try to touch it and zaps when you stand too close. that chrome colored monster is scarier than its user…
assassin guda who comes wrapped in a black cloak a bit too broad for their shoulders. "just because i can technically shoot a target," they whine, "doesn’t mean this should be my class!" though an assassin, they are no good at covert ops. their method is guns blazing - literally. their primary is a semiautomatic firearm lovingly called calico. paired with their scope farflier, which can serve not only as an aim assistant but can sense their target. they say they trained under the warrior goddess scáthach. you don’t believe them until you have nightmares - memories. you are on a shooting range getting hit over the head by an intense fuchsia haired woman when you miss a target. you don’t ask about those.
berserker guda who is startling normal. something in your gut says this is wrong. when you ask if they really are a berserker, they shrug and smile. you see their madness when they let loose in battle. they are virtually unkillable. they will keep going until the head is separated from their body. they were loved deeply by death in life - it still follows them like a loving specter, as part of their soul. otherside blessing is what they call it. a warning for berserker's future or current master; occasionally they might slip up and call you “doctor”. please ignore this mistake.
avenger guda who never existed in the first place. they are older, tall, with piercing red eyes. they move silently like a serpent. it's hard to detect their presence, even for their master. their katana is stained crimson that doesn't scrub off. but the blade never rusts. they wield an anti-world noble phantasm: dreams end, lostbelt. they deeply love this world and will do anything to protect it. they will put an end to this war. no one needs a tool so destructive. the deaths of millions are on their shoulders, what more should twelve bodies be?

You hadn't been convinced by the vicious rumours circling through the town of the local motorcycle club.

The hustle and bustle of the cafe was like a soothing melody to your ears as you sat in your favourite spot on the patio. You had only recently discovered the shop, but sitting here in this padded chair beside the arched window, drinking your coffee while the sun beat down on you, had become your favourite pastime. You were quick to make friends with the feisty owner, Carol - her fiery sense of humour and quick wit melding seamlessly with your own.
Marvel cafe was a cosy spot. The warm tones and inviting rustic vibe was a magnet for any aspiring writer or artist, the blue accents instilling in the patrons a sense of calm and inspiration. It also helped that they had the best coffee in the small town you now called home. It was across the street from a playground, where a group of kids were spinning themselves mercilessly and screaming with laughter when one of them fell over.
It was a quiet day at the cafe, with much fewer patrons than you were used to seeing in the late morning rush. But that suited you just fine - it meant more peace and quiet for you to work on your current project.
You had just pulled out your laptop to begin working after taking a long gulp of warm coffee when the kids abruptly quietened, the absence of their glee startling. That’s when you heard the low rumble of engines starting from down the road. The lot of them scrambled to the edge of the playground and watched as several bikes passed by; the riders waved at them as their leather kuttes blew in the wind.
On your very first day in this town, an old lady in the grocery checkout line next to you called this group of bikers a bad omen. You had watched with fascination as they passed you by numerous times in the street, the uniformed formation of their bikes only exerting a sense of power, an unmatched sense of pride and belonging in a town that only spoke ill of them. In the weeks that followed, you heard story after story of how the delinquents caused absolute chaos throughout the town. Despite the rumours, the curiosity you felt for the men clad in leather and combat boots was only matched by the children currently jumping up and down whilst staring at their bikes.
You watched as the rider in front pulled to the side and slowed down, signalling to the others to keep going. The dull roar of the engine rumbled down to a purr as the man turned and rode back. The sleek frame and polished chrome of his motorcycle was a beacon to your inquisitive gaze - you recognized it as an Indian.
“That’s Bucky.”
The sudden voice to your side made you jump. Looking up quickly, you found Carol smiling down at you. She winked and heat flared in your cheeks at the realisation she had caught you staring.
“He’s not as bad as the town makes him out to be. You should go talk to him.”
“Carol!” you spluttered, shocked that your friend would even consider playing matchmaker at a time like this. She knew you were in the middle of an important project, and you could not afford distractions. “No! I’m perfectly content sitting here and observing, thank you very much.” You began to fidget with the now empty mug, the smooth porcelain a much welcome distraction from the situation at hand. You held her gaze and narrowed your eyes in disdain. “Don’t you have customers to serve?”
Carol hummed as she looked back to Bucky, the glint in her eyes only spelling out disaster for you. Oh no.
“Don’t even think about it,” you chided, panic brewing in your chest.
Carol gave you a playful, pitious look and shrugged. She placed the fresh cup of brew on your table and walked back inside. With a sigh of relief you turned back to your laptop, determined to continue working. You had a deadline coming up, after all.
But a certain handsome man pulled your focus yet again, the urge to sneak glances at his leather-clad figure winning over your common sense.
He had pushed his bike alongside the curb and sat back down into the seat, gesturing to the handlebars whilst looking at the children. The kids’ natural curiosity overrode any sense of caution for the tales they had been told of the group of bikers that often rode by in a group. He smiled at them when they ran forward, their small figures bouncing in glee on the footpath - and his smile was gorgeous. Stop it!
He turned to the tallest of the three children and spoke.
“Wanna rev it, kid?”
The low timbre of his voice made it a thousand times harder to turn back to your work.
Hearing the child squeal with joy and run to the bike made you smile. The kid’s body was almost vibrating with delight as his small hand reached forward to grip the throttle.
“Turn it,” Bucky guided softly. The smile on his face only encouraged the kid, who twisted it and immediately jumped back at the roar of the engine. “That’s it!” He called, ruffling the kid’s hair.
He gestured to the other two kids waiting not-so-patiently, and they bounded forward. One of them was a small girl, no older than six or seven. You observed Bucky as he looked at the kid’s mother - her figure clad in a leather jacket with studs, she wasn’t all that different from him. Bucky said something and the mother grinned, nodding excitedly, and pulled her phone from her pocket for photos.
Bucky let the other young boy rev his bike and then reached down to pick the girl up and place her on his lap, guiding her tiny hand to the throttle and helping her grip and turn it. Her laugh was infectious, and you couldn’t help but let out a laugh of your own.
Bucky’s head snapped up in response and your guts twisted with nerves - dammit.
You couldn’t help but stare at him - his smile was so wide, it made his nose scrunch and his sunglasses to move. His dark hair flowed out from under his helmet, the flyaway strands falling over his ears and face. The kutte collar was folded to show a small embroidered rifle and the red star adorning his back was almost as eye-catching as his smile.
Only managing a small smile in return, you hastily bent over your table, desperate to appear busy and not just like a creep watching from the other side of the road. The children's laughter died down as they ran back to the playground, shouting about how the man had let them rev his bike.
“That was so cool!” The tallest of the three bragged as he jumped straight back onto a swing, the grin on his face only telling of the pure joy and excitement he felt.
The bike choked as Bucky turned it off and a small clatter of fibreglass being set down on the metal of the fuel tank caught your attention, but you refused to look up. You tried to ignore the feeling of eyes observing you as footsteps approached. Oh god, help me.
“Ah, Bucky! Good to see you!”
You cursed Carol in your head as you sent a sharp glare her way, of which she pointedly ignored.
“Hey, Carol!” His voice was right beside you, making you jump. “Kids, right?”
Carol and Bucky shared a laugh, and all you wanted was the earth to open up and swallow you whole. But today was not your lucky day.
You looked up from your pointed stare at your laptop to his face, his towering height dwarfing you in the chair. He smiled down at you and threw you a wink.
“Saw you watchin’ me, doll. You want a turn, too?”
Your heart leapt into your throat, thankfully stopping the squeak of excitement that threatened to burst free - the thought of sitting behind, and holding Bucky making you feel faint. God, what did I do to deserve this?
“Oh, Bucky, she’s been dying to - take her for a spin!”
Oh, you were going to kill Carol.
“C’mon, doll. I got you.”
He reached out his gloved hand and you hesitated. Were you really going to do this?
Carol quietly shuffled beside you and shoved you out of your seat with an innocent smile. Bucky laughed, grabbing your hand in his as he led you across the road to his bike.
You felt as though you were gliding - the trepidation and thrill of actually following this handsome stranger made your feet blindly move of their own accord as they followed him. Your heart was hammering against your chest as you got closer to the bike.
Bucky reached out to the fuel tank and grabbed his helmet, and then turned to face you. He gave you a cheeky grin before placing it on your head and fastening the straps.
“Ever ridden before, doll?”
“No,” you whispered, afraid your voice would betray what you were feeling - absolute terror blending with simmering excitement.
Bucky grinned and swung his leg over the bike, reaching back to pat the seat behind him. Taking a deep breath, you awkwardly climbed up behind him and gripped his shoulders for balance. You rested your feet where he directed and he started the engine, the deafening roar making you squeak quietly into his back as you gripped his shoulders tighter.
You nervously glanced up to see Carol watching from the other side of the road with your laptop in hand. The smirk on her face was both smug and knowing. You would have to either slap or hug her after this - you hadn’t yet decided.
Bucky looked over his shoulder at you, and you could barely hear him speak over the roar of the bike.
“Put your arms around me.”
The shock of hearing him tell you what you’ve been wanting to do since first seeing him made you foolishly hesitate.  Did you really hear him right?
Bucky looked over his shoulder with a raised brow. You quickly wrapped your arms around his waist and gripped tight, the vibration of the bike shaking you to the bone. A laugh rumbled through his chest and you swore you heard him say something along the lines of good girl, but you weren’t sure.
“Hold on, sweetheart.” Bucky revved the bike and pulled away from the curb, leaving your insides behind.
You almost screamed as the bike took off, your frame shaking from fear as he sped down the street. The surprising grip of his hand over yours after a particularly hard squeeze to his middle through a small turn soothed your nerves. You took a deep breath, forcing your heart back down into your chest as you moved your face from the leather of his back to peer over his shoulder.
The buildings flew by as he accelerated, the main street coming to an end and leading you onto the backstreets. You began to laugh, shock and exhilaration making your mind fuzzy as the wind whipped your hair back.
Bucky rode on, the side streets empty of any traffic as he redlined the bike to make it roar, your squeal of laughter egging him on. You squeezed his middle tighter as you rested your chin on his shoulder, content to feel the wind blowing away all of your fear and worries - you had never felt more free.
Maybe it was your lucky day, after all. You would definitely have to hug Carol after this.
Who knew such a leap of faith could help you feel so alive?
