‭1 Samuel 17:45-47 (NIV)‬. “David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
“Defeating Our Goliaths” by In Touch Ministries:
“Faith habits prepare us for the inevitable battles that come.”
“Life’s “Goliaths” come in all shapes, sizes, and intensities: an unhappy relationship, a difficult job, a pile of debt. In today’s passage, David faced what appeared to be an insurmountable problem, but he was victorious through God’s power. We can be, too.
David declared victory over Goliath before the battle even began (v. 46). His confidence was rooted in his past experiences with the Lord. What’s more, David believed triumph was certain because he came in the name of the Lord. As a shepherd, he’d spent hours alone in the wilderness, listening to God’s voice. Even a giant’s discouraging shout couldn’t shake his convictions about who God was and what He could do through His servant.
David had practical faith habits. A strong relationship with the Lord developed from spending time in His presence. This in turn enabled David to face problems with certainty that he was a beloved child of God, with full access to his Father’s storehouses of power, courage, and wisdom. If doubts ever arose, he could look back on God’s great faithfulness in past troubles.
To be victorious, we should practice David’s spiritual habits. Spend time with God and keep a record of His work in your life. Then you can be confident that He is sufficient, no matter the obstacle.”

"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God." Psalm 42:1
Do you long to be in the presence of God? Is your soul thirsting for the Living God? If we claim to love the Lord, we should long to be with Him, to get to know Him and hear from Him. Let our times with Him just not be "a namesake quiet time", but a deep and intimate relationship, a sweet fellowship where we talk to God about anything and everything and we hear Him whisper words of comfort, wisdom and love. In intimacy such as this there is fullness of Joy.

If you're reading this, could you please pray for W (a disabled woman) her husband passed away recently (he was quite abusive to her). Now she's being held hostage by her sister in laws because there's a will and money or such has been left to her. Please pray for her freedom, that she won't be exploited, or harmed, for somebody to help her. I don't know where exactly she's located so I can't get the police to her.

TW: Self harm and suicide
I have often struggled with thoughts of self harm and suicidal ideation. It’s been a reoccurring experience for over ten years of my life and it feels like it’s the battleground I’m always gearing up to tackle. I also apologise if in this moment I didn’t really understand how to hide posts on the Tumblr mobile app, I just need to get this off my chest.
The thoughts of doing something harmful keep on coming and trying to wear me down. I cling to the cross and Jesus, He is my Saviour and my strength. I am so thankful for Christ. Even with my thankfulness, I get these feelings of temptation and intrusive thoughts. I know it is not sin that causes them, it is an illness and, even though I haven’t self harmed in a long time, the self harm thoughts are really part of an addictive behaviour. These thoughts have been bombarding me recently. I feel like my grip on faith and the cross is weakening and I don’t want that. Christ is my hope. Grace is my salvation.
I ask for prayers for me but also for others who face the battle of depression. Lift us up in your prayers 🙏🏻 God loves us, I know even in my pit of despair, so pleas help struggling folk feel that love.

The Bible tells us that when Jesus was here on earth, the people brought to Him all those who had a need, and He helped and touched them all. He healed the sick, delivered those in bondage and those possessed by the evil spirits, He set free. Today we can do the same, bringing someone to the Lord in prayer at the throne of grace. Bring them to Jesus as they did when He was on earth. And pray, “Lord, I’m bringing this person...... to you. They need you, Lord. Would you help them?” He will surely hear your prayer and do a miracle for them. I know this is true, I have experienced it.

Heavenly Father, in a world where the love of many is growing cold. Please keep my love deep and warm, keep it sincere. Please keep my heart soft and may it never harden, please keep my heart filled with your ways and will. May I never follow my heart because it's deceiving but may I acknowledge You in all my ways that I may be set straight, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ amen 🙏🏼✝️🤍.
