here is a list of the slugcats i think are most intelligent in descending order.

Spearmaster - they know the RW equivalent of sign language and generally seem especially intelligent. Not saying other scugs couldn’t learn, spearm is just the only one (in the local area at least)

Gourmand - capable of crafting. id like to think their weight is a result of their cleverness, since they were able to find lots of food and ways to evade danger despite their lowered agility

Artificer - obviously smart enough to understand the concept of revenge and hatred. It’s different from associating scavs with danger, since they’re actively seeking to kill them.

Hunter - another lab-raised scug. Needs higher intelligence to be able to hunt for lack of natural weapons.

Rivulet - I mean, they understood complex directions from both Pebbles and Moon. Not a lot of other evidence though.

Survivor - going by the intro cutscene, Surv is a young adult, and not as experienced on their own.

Monk - i think Monk is younger than Surv. Little baby critter doesn’t know the horrors of the world yet, hasn’t learned the way of life.

Saint - Haven’t beaten Saint yet, don’t have enough evidence to support my claim, but I think they’re less intelligent and more instinctual.

Inv - i don’t even know man
