do y'all ever think about the fact that bobby is literally chris' grandpa? like yeah, bobby is a father figure to buck. but buck is also chris' second dad.
that's a dynamic i am reminded of whenever i see eddie and bobby interact outside of the fire station and it's a dynamic that should be explored more overall.

You're the One, the Only (Ch. 1)
Chapter One:
Gina sat in a chair by the window in the front room of her grandparents’ house, trying her best to block out the noise going on behind her. She stared out the window, her mood as gloomy and bleak as the sky outside. She had zero interest in celebrating Christmas now that her Marine wasn't going to be here with her. When Kevin had called home for Thanksgiving, he'd explained how he'd deliberately not requested leave in the hopes that it would make it easier to get approved to come home for Christmas. She'd been fine with that, preferring it to spending time with him at Thanksgiving. He'd called day before yesterday and told her his chances of coming home for the holidays looked nonexistent. Her mood had soured, and she now just wanted to get tonight and tomorrow over with.
She had kept to herself despite her family's best efforts to cheer her up. She spoke when spoken to, but gave short perfunctory answers, and avoided looking at pictures and talking about favorite Christmases like her mom's side of the family did every year. She'd do the same tomorrow at her dad's, and hopefully go to bed early to get the day over with as quickly as possible. It wasn't the same without him here. Her only bright spot had come in the mail yesterday as his Christmas gift finally arrived. He'd gotten her the red Marines t-shirt she'd fallen in love with, along with a set of custom dog tags that had black silencers. She had both on today, hoping it would make her feel closer to him, but it hadn't worked. She glanced at her phone in her lap, he had promised to try and call tonight so they could at least hear each other's voice on their favorite holiday. But as the day dragged on it didn't appear that was going to be possible either. They normally talked at least three times a week, but all she'd gotten this week was the very brief phone call to tell her he wasn't coming home. She held out a small sliver of hope that he was saving the call for tomorrow.
A small package landed in her lap, and she looked up to see her little sister standing next to her chair with a cheesy grin. "Open it," she said.
"Not interested," Gina groused, handing it back. Since they were kids, they'd had a habit of opening one gift before dinner, as a way to tide them over until the adults were ready to open presents.
Casey refused to take it. "Trust me," she said. "You wanna open this one. You need what's in it."
With a frustrated sigh Gina ripped the paper open, revealing a packet of kleenex with a funny saying on them. She rolled her eyes and shoved them back into her sister's hand. "Very funny," she growled.
"Okay sourpuss, you don't wanna be nice go make yourself useful and start bringing the deserts in from the back porch," her mom said in the tone all mother's use when tired of their teenager's attitude. "And find a better mood while you're out there, hear me?"
"Gladly," Gina muttered, getting to her feet, and stuffing her phone in her back pocket.
As soon as she stepped into the kitchen Casey shifted to a point where she could see her sister and began providing a play by play for the rest of the family. "Through the kitchen...opening the back door, and..."
There was a muted scream that made everyone laugh and both of Gina's sisters and their mom headed for the porch. They were wrapped in each other’s arms, his around her waist and her own around his neck. She would've stayed that way forever if her family would've let her. She pulled back, and they shared a quick kiss, knowing her grandparents would have issue with more than that. "C'mon, let's get back in the house," her mom said.
"When did you get here?" Gina asked.
"He took a red eye last night, we picked him up at the airport this morning and dropped him off at the hotel," Chris said. "We waited until he got here and got hid on the back porch before Case gave you the kleenex."
"I got a few hours sleep, and went and spent time with my family today," Kevin added. He dropped his tone to a murmur, making sure only Gina could hear him as he entered the house. "I'm all yours until I gotta go back the day after New Year’s."
"Two weeks," she murmured. She was unfazed at knowing he'd elected to spend most of the day with her family instead of his own, he hadn't had the greatest upbringing, and most of them had been furious at his choice to join the military to the point he'd severely limited his contact with them.
"Two weeks," he confirmed. "And a room at our favorite hotel."
She squeezed his hand as they passed through the kitchen and back into the living room. With Kevin here her entire demeanor changed, and she became the giggling goofball that her family knew her to be at this time of year. She sat down in one of the chairs and he sat on the floor in front of her, using her legs as a backrest. It gave them the excuse to touch each other without enduring any teasing.
"I thought for sure you'd cry, it's why I gave you the kleenex," Casey said.
"She called you a crybaby when she bought them," Chris added.
She laughed, unfazed by the ribbing. None of them noticed when her legs shifted so that they were over Kevin’s shoulders, and he had his arms wrapped around them. They made it through dinner, and she was surprised to see the small pile of presents her family had gotten him. She had left her own gift for him in her car and was now looking forward to giving it to him in person later instead of mailing it on the day after Christmas.
She had needed the kleenex when they'd been given identical boxes by her grandmother. "This has been a year in the making, and I had to enlist the help of both families. It should make it a little easier to be separated when he goes back to the base," she'd explained. "And I didn't get them mixed up."
They had each been given a quilt made of the other's t-shirts. What made it extra special was that some of the shirts used had some sort of meaning between the two of them. She didn't know about him, but it would definitely make it easier to sleep once he left again.
During a lull as the night began to wind down, her mom gently pulled her aside. "Don't mention anything about staying with him. Just make it look like you're gonna drop him off at the hotel on your way home, okay? Otherwise, you'll get an earful from them both," she said.
Gina nodded. "I can use needing to pick up his Christmas gift as an excuse," she said. "I'm surprised you're okay with him staying."
"You're nineteen and have your own place, there's not much I can do to stop you. Now you know why I questioned you about doing your laundry yesterday, though I still dunno why you bothered with your underwear," her mom teased.
"Ma!"
----------------
After getting all the gifts loaded into Gina's car and making a quick stop at a gas station to pick up enough snacks to last until the day after Christmas when everything would re-open they headed for the hotel. They pulled up to a stoplight and Gina pulled a small package from the center console, where she'd put it with the intention of mailing it the day after Christmas. She turned on one of the overhead lights and handed him the package. "Merry Christmas baby," she said. "It's gonna seem weird until I explain what it's for, but I promise you'll love it."
Kevin tore into the packaging and unwrapped a set of keys. "Keys?" He questioned. "Keys are usually a good thing."
"Uh huh," Gina agreed. "An incredibly good thing in our case. We're not staying at the hotel for two weeks."
"We aren't? Why?" He asked.
"Remember the pictures I sent of the house I told you my dad was looking at?" She countered.
"Yeah," Kevin said a split second before comprehension smacked him on the back of the head, and his expression changed from confusion to anxious disbelief. "No..."
Gina nodded. "Dad doesn't like the idea of us living in the dorms on campus, so he was planning to lease me an apartment like he did my sister. I don't like the thought of living squished in with other people, and I found this place not too far from school. It's nothing spectacular, but it's ours," she explained.
"Explains why your sister was so adamant about me only booking the room for one night until the two of us went back to the hotel. The last two words you said are all that matters. I don't care what it looks like or what's wrong with it, it's ours," he said. Kevin leaned forward and they shared a kiss just as the light changed. She reached up and shut off the light as they began to move again and he reached over and grabbed her hand, kissing the back of her palm before threading their fingers together. The streetlights allowed him to see her smile, and he sat watching her for the longest time.
She couldn't wait to get to the house and show him the trivial things that she'd yet to tell him about. She'd turned one of the smaller bedrooms into a studio of sorts, where she could write, and he could draw. The master bedroom had an en suite bathroom, and double closets, and she'd sectioned off part of the garage to make a little home gym. They would hit up the supermarket on the twenty-sixth and pick up the last few things needed to turn it from a house into a home.
When they left the hotel after picking up his bags and checking out, she gave up her keys to let him drive, something she knew he enjoyed and likely hadn't done since he left several months ago. She also gave him quick instructions on how to get to the house, smiling when he easily pinpointed the location. As Kevin drove towards the house she unbuckled her seatbelt, wiggled out of her hoodie and stretched out across the center console, pillowing her head on his thigh. Kevin knew she wasn't sleepy; she was satisfying her desire to want to do more than just hold his hand. She covered up with the hoodie, and after giving her a couple of minutes to get comfortable he slipped his hand under it with the intention of curling his arm over her ribcage. His fingertips were met by bare skin, and when his thumb brushed against the lower curve of her breast he realized she'd taken off her bra when she'd gone to the restroom at the gas station. "Touch me," she begged in whisper. "I want you so bad."
Kevin smiled as she voiced her desires, he'd been gently coaxing her to do so ever since their first time. When she'd sheepishly admitted she struggled with it because she was afraid of being laughed at, he'd kissed her forehead and explained that any man that laughed at his girl for telling him he was doing something she liked or didn't like wasn't really interested in pleasing his girl. He let his hand drift up her chest and brush over her soft peaks enjoying the soft moans she made in response. Kevin kept his touch light so that neither of them would get frustrated by having to stop when they got to the house. She growled low in her throat when he withdrew his hand, making him chuckle. "We're less than five minutes from the house," he said.
She fidgeted a moment, readjusting her clothes, and then sat up, wiggling back into the hoodie, and raking a hand through her hair. She decided that when they got home they'd get the car unloaded, she'd give him a quick tour of the house, and then spend the next several hours tangled up in bed. Gina was about to inform him of her plans when she suddenly remembered something she desperately needed to take care of before he saw it.
"I gotta tie up the bathroom a bit, need to shave," she said as they pulled in the driveway. "Haven't been keeping things quite as trimmed as I was before you left."
Kevin smiled, knowing she wasn't talking about her legs. "I packed my straight razor, want me to do it again?" He asked, hitting the button to open the garage door. He pulled in, putting the car in park, and shutting off the engine before turning in the seat to look at her.
She nodded with a smile. He had done it for her one other time, the first time she decided she wanted to go bare. Letting him take care of something so intimate had been an amazing experience, and she'd decided to always take him up on the offer should he ever ask again. "I wanna do what I did last time too, it felt so good afterwards," she said.
They got out of the car and got the bags and gifts from the backseat. Gina led the way inside. She put the snacks on the counter before leading him into the living room where a couple of photos caught his attention. Kevin stopped and looked around, seeing several of his belongings sprinkled throughout the room. "I went to your parents place and picked up all your stuff that your mom boxed up and put in the garage," she said, putting the gifts on the sofa.
His duffel bag slid to the floor and he turned to her with tears in his eyes. She'd done much more than that. Unhappy with his decision, his mom had pretty much kicked him out when he went to boot camp, clearing out his room and relegating his belongings to the garage for him to pick up as soon as possible. Her family had taken him in, to the point that her grandparents treated him like their fourth grandkid. Gina pulled him into a hug, and he silently sobbed in her arms. "Welcome home baby," she murmured.
She cuddled him for a few minutes and decided to forgo the tour for the time being. He needed to stop thinking about his family and the bullshit he'd endured since he made the announcement that he was joining the military. "C'mon, let's go unwind a while and celebrate being together in our new house," she murmured.
Kevin lifted his head and smiled, and they shared a quick kiss before he reshouldered his duffel and followed her towards the bedroom.

Dodger’s Vet
Pairings: Chris Evans x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, sick Dodger, Fluff
Summary: Chris meets the new Veterinary in town when Dodger becomes sick.
A/N: I imagine this happening right after he gets back home from filming The Deep Sea Diving Resort so he has his longer hair and beard!  Oh, and I this idea just popped into my head. Should I continue and do a couple more parts?
You walked into the clinic early Tuesday morning, turning on all the lights.  Smiling, you looked around at your facility, delighted at what you saw.  It had been a long time coming, but you finally graduated from school and you were officially a Veterinarian.  Not only that, but with all the hard work you put yourself through, you managed to open your own clinic in a small town just outside of Boston.
Boston is where you were from, but you wanted to move just outside of the large city and into a smaller community.  Your grandparents, bless their souls, gave you your inheritance early because they saw how determined you were and they didn’t want you to drown in bills.
Luckily they were very wealthy, putting into the right stocks; that’s what you get when your grandpa worked on Wall Street his whole life.  Because of your early inheritance, you were able to pay off your loans from school, buy yourself a quaint little house, and also open up your own Veterinarian Clinic.  To say life was great would be an understatement.
It had been a little over six months since you had moved to Sudbury, and just about three months since you had opened up your clinic.  You were nervous to say the least, unsure if your clinic would be a hit or miss in this small town.  But you did your research and saw that the closest Vet Clinic around was nearly 15 miles away.
One of the things you prided yourself on is that three days a week, you were on call after hours for emergencies just in case.
Because your clinic had been a big success so far, you were able to hire on two other Veterinarians, one a specialty in exotic animals also, and six Veterinarian Assistance.  To make things even better, your clinic was only a mile down the road, making it easier to head home during lunch breaks and feed your own brood of animals.
Currently you had three dogs and two cats; all of them rescued or saved.  Two of your dogs you saved because people came in for emergencies and couldn’t afford the services.  They ended up leaving the clinic, and the dogs and you gladly worked on them and took them home.  They were both Corgis, both brothers and they had gotten into some poison at the house. Luckily you were able to save them, but it was very touch and go.  Your other dog was a Great Dane named Petunia; you found it funny how you named her such a delicate name for a big dog but she was your baby.  Your cats were also brothers and you named them Tom and Jerry as they were both rambunctious little buggers.
Heading into your office, you looked over your list of patients for the day and smiled when you saw Dodger was coming in for a check-up and his shots.  He was such a good boy and his fur was so soft; he was by far one of your favorite patients to date.
~~~
The day went by fairly quickly and before you knew it, there was a knock on your door.  One of the assistance poked her head through, letting you know that Dodger was in exam room three and ready for you.
With a smile, you got up from your chair in your office and made your way down the hall.  When you got to the exam room, you gave a quick knock to let them know you were there.
Upon opening the room, Dodger got up from his spot on the floor, tail wagging excitedly as he raced over to meet you.
“Hi there Dodger! Yes, it’s so good to see you too,” you cooed as you knelt down, letting the happy dog give you kisses.  “Hello Lisa.  It’s good to see you too.”
Lisa chuckled at the dog attacking you with kisses.  “It’s good to see you too Dr. Y/L/N.”
“Oh please, call me Y/N. Dodger and  I are on a first name basis now so I’m hoping we can do that too,” you said with a smile, looking at the woman sitting in the chair.  She gave you a nod and a smile back.  “Alright, so just a check-up and a few shots today for Dodger is that right?”
“Yeah.  He’s got his last round of shots I believe and then he will be all caught up.”
Walking over to the wall, you pushed a button and the large metal table descended to the ground. With the help of Lisa, you got Dodger onto the table and you held him down as it moved back up into place.
You checked his ears and his breathing, along with a few other normal procedures before grabbing the shots off the counter.
His tail started wagging when he saw you grabbing the treats from the jar.  You handed them to Lisa as she kept him busy while you administered the shots.  He was always such a good boy, holding still for you.
“And we are all done. You did good Dodger,” you beamed giving him a scratch behind the ear as his tongue rolled out from his mouth.
“Thank you so much Y/N. I’m so happy you decided to move here and open a clinic.  Dodger is so relaxed around you and you are nice and close to home,” Lisa gushed with a smile, taking your hand in hers.
“It’s my pleasure, really.”
“My son should be home in the next few weeks so if Dodger needs to come back for any reason, I’m sure it will be him bringing him here and not me.”
“Well I’ll be sad to miss you but please feel free to stop by and say hi anytime you want.”
~~~
“Just take him into the vet,” Lisa said, speaking to her son over the phone.
“I honestly don’t know if it’s that serious Ma,” Chris said as he watched Dodger have diarrhea yet again in the backyard of his home.  “On second thought, he’s doing it again.
“Honey, I’m telling you, this new vet in town is amazing.  Dodger loves her.”
Chris sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.  “It’s after hours.  I’d have to wait until tomorrow to even see if I can get an appointment in.”
“Well, what day is it?” Lisa asked.
“Umm,” Chris began to say, not even aware of what day it was as always lost track of time when he came home from filming.  “Thursday. Why?”
“Oh good.  If you are worried about Dodger at any point tonight, know that Dr. Y/L/N is on call for emergencies.  She lives very close by to her clinic so it won’t be a problem.”
“Ma, I don’t want to wake him up,”
“Her,” Lisa cut him off. The vet that sees Dodger is female.”
“Ok then.  I don’t want to wake HER up in the middle of the night if it’s not serious.”
“Well, that’s fine sweetie. But keep an eye on Dodger.  If he suddenly begins to vomit as well, then you really need to take him in.”
Later that night as Chris was getting ready for bed, close to midnight, he heard a weird sound coming from the living room.  Rushing out of his room, he saw Dodger throwing up on the ground.
“Fuck buddy, what is wrong with you huh?  Did you get into something?”  Chris began to panic, knowing he couldn’t lose Dodger.
Grabbing his phone, he dialed the number his mom had given him.  On the fourth ring, a groggy sounding voice answered the phone.
~~~
Groaning at the ringing of your phone, you rolled over in bed and answered it.  “Dr. Y/L/N.”
“Umm, yeah.  Hi.  My name is Chris and I’m the owner of Dodger,” the man on the phone said frantically. Immediately you perked up at Dodger’s name.
“Hello Chris.  Is Dodger alright?” you asked, trying not to sound panicked.  That was the one thing about being a Vet; you got attached to your patients so easily and with Dodger involved, you were beginning to worry.
“Not really.  Two days ago he began to have diarrhea, so I withheld all food and treats for 24 hours and when I fed him again this morning, well, the diarrhea came back and now he’s throwing up.”
“Ok Chris.  If you are willing to, I can be at my clinic in five minutes.”
“Yeah,” Chris breathed out, “Yeah I’ll meet you there.  Thank you so much Dr. Y/L/N.”
“It’s not a problem at all Chris.  It’s what I’m here for.”
Five minutes later you pulled up at the front of your clinic and raced to the front door to unlock it. The parking lot was deserted so Chris and Dodger had not shown up yet.
Walking into your office, you put down your coat and purse before heading out into the main lobby to wait for them.
It only took a minute before you saw a car pull into the parking lot.  Opening the front door, you saw a man with dark hair that hung just above his ears, and a thick yet trimmed beard, opening the back of his car door.
He picked up Dodger and carried him into the clinic as you held the door open for him.  Your heart dropped at seeing Dodger so lethargic, making you worry even more.  You quickly locked the door behind him.
“Let’s take him to exam room one,” you said as you began to walk down the hallway.
Chris placed Dodger on the metal table as you got to work quickly examining him.  You checked his breathing, along with to see if he had a fever. Lifting his top tip, you pressed against his pale gums.
“Ok, so far I can tell he has a fever and he is severely dehydrated, which is common in dogs who have diarrhea and are vomiting.  I’d like to give him some water via an IV if you are alright with that?” you asked looking at Chris and waiting for his answer.
He nodded hastily. “Yes.  Yeah I’ll agree to anything as long as he gets better.”  Your heart sunk at his words and you knew right away he was a great doggie dad; wanting to do anything for his boy.
You got an IV into Dodger as he lay on the table; no energy whatsoever.  Once the water began to flow into his system, you grabbed a syringe and took a vial of blood.
“I’m going to go back into the lab and check his blood to see if I can find the underlying issue to what’s wrong with him.”
Chris nodded his head as he sat on the chair next to Dodger and petting him.
It didn’t take more than a few minutes before you came back into the room, removing your gloves from your hands.  “When was the last time Dodger had a bowel movement?”
“Ummm,” Chris began to say, checking his watch, “about twenty minutes ago.  As I was getting my shoes on he went in the house again and I didn’t have time to clean it up.  I just wanted to get him here.”
You gave him a soft smile. “Well I think you did the right thing in bringing him here.  I can tell his breathing is already becoming more steady from the water IV.  But I have a favor to ask you and I completely understand if you don’t want to leave him here.”
Chris’ brows furrowed. “What is it?”
“I think I might know what’s wrong with him, but the absolute 100% way to tell for sure is to get a stool sample.  Preferably one that is not much older than 30 minutes.”
“Oh….Oh,” Chris said in final realization.
“Like I said Chris. If you don’t want to leave him here with me, I completely understand.  We can always wait until he has another bowel movement.”
Chris jumped up from his chair, checking to make sure he had his keys, wallet and cellphone. “No.  It’s really no problem at all.  I only live a few minutes away and I really just want to get to the bottom of why he’s sick.  I’ll be back as soon as possible.”
You sat down in the chair next to Dodger; not much else you could do at this point until Chris came back with the stool sample.  As you sat with Dodger, your fingers ran through his thick tan fur, smiling lightly at the dog as he looked at you with hopeful eyes.
Almost fifteen minutes later, Dodger perked his head up slightly, his eyes landed on you. “You’ll be ok buddy.  I know you will pull through.  You’re such a strong boy aren’t you?  Yes you are.”  Leaning forward, you let Dodger lick you, giving you kisses, completely unaware that Chris had heard and seen the whole thing.
“I’ve got it,” Chris said quietly, not wanting to disturb Dodger.
Getting up from your spot, you thanked him and headed into the lab with the stool sample.  Placing it under the microscope, you let out a sigh as your gut was right.
Heading back into the room, you felt warmth envelope your body at the sight of Chris and Dodger. You were a good judge of character when it came to owners of pets and you knew Chris took the best care of Dodger that he possibly could.
He didn’t realize you were standing there so you took a few more moments to admire the sight in front of you.  Chris looked familiar to you, but you just couldn’t quite put your finger on it. Giving up, you made yourself known.
“Just as I thought,” you said, walking into the room, arms folded over your chest.  Chris stood up, concern washing over his face.  “Do you want the good news first, or the good news?”
Chris’ eyes grew wide before finally letting out a sigh, realizing there was only good news to be said.
“I’ll ah, I’ll take the good news first,” he said with a smile; the first smile you had seen of the night; and boy did he look beautiful with a smile.
“The good news is that I found out what is wrong with him.  He has Giardia.  The other good news is that once his IV is finished, you can take him home.  I’ll give you some antibiotics to start giving him, and you need to start him on a bland diet.  Start with rice and after a couple of days you can add in some cooked chicken.  Feed him that for about a week and then slowly start incorporating his food back into his diet.  He should be as good as new in no time.”
The relief was easily noticeably as Chris relaxed his shoulders; his hand resting on Dodger’s side as he pet his dog.  You walked forward and scratched behind Dodger’s ear.
“Has he been around any other dogs recently?” you asked, looking up at Chris; just noticing now how tall he was compared to your frame.
“Umm, actually yeah. I took him to the dog park two days ago.”
You nodded, figuring that must have been where he contracted it.  “Giardia is very contagious, especially from other dogs.  In fact, humans can contract it as well.  It’s contracted through feces, or infected water or surfaces from feces.  When you get home tonight, if you aren’t too tired, make sure you clean up all the areas that Dodger has had an accident in the house very well.  We don’t want this moving to you.  I’m also going to give you a special shampoo for Dodger.  It will remove any feces that perhaps maybe stuck into his fur or anywhere on him.”  Chris nodded at your words, ready to do whatever it takes.
Once Dodger’s IV was finished, you held the door open for Chris as he carried a now sleepy and relaxed Dodger into his car.  After placing him in the backseat, Chris headed back inside to grab the antibiotics and shampoo.
“How much do I owe you?” Chris asked as he took out his wallet, grabbing his credit card.
You waved your hands in front of him.  “Please, don’t worry about it Chris.  It’s on the house.”
His hands stilled, looking up at you with shock.  “What? This was considered an emergency. It’s the middle of the night. Please, Dr. Y/L/N, it’s no problem. No matter what the cost is.  Trust me,” he said handing over his credit card.
You smiled at him, gently pushing his hand with the card away from you.  “I can’t possibly charge you when it comes to Dodger.  In any case of emergency, I would have happily helped, especially when it comes to him.  He’s become my best patient,” you said with a smile.  “And please, just like I told your mother, call me Y/N.”
Chris gave you a sad smile and you could tell he was battling with himself over fighting you more, wanting to pay.
“Are you sure I can’t pay anything?”
You chuckled, shaking your head.  “No. But I will let you pay for his check-up on Monday.  Does that sound fair?”
Chris nodded, giving you another graceful smile.  “It’s less than I was hoping for, but I guess it will have to do.”
After grabbing your purse and coat from your office, you walked Chris to the door.  Shutting off the lights, you locked up and you both headed to your respected cars.
You paused when you got to your door; Chris doing the same at his car as he looked at you.  “You have my number.  Please feel free to call if he worsens at all.”
Chris gave you a nod and a quick smile.  “So I’ll see you on Monday?”
Giving him your own nod and smile, you got into your car and headed back to your quant little house.
~~~
After Chris got home, he laid Dodger on his dog bed and began to clean the house like a mad man in any and all spots that Dodger had an accident.
Once he was finished he hopped into bed; his arm leaning over the side to comfort Dodger by petting him.
One thing was for sure, he couldn’t get you out of his mind.  From the minute he saw you, he thought you were so unbelievably beautiful. The way you took care of Dodger also made his heart race in such a desirably way.  He always knew that the woman he was with had to be an animal lover.
And then when you refused to have him pay for your services?  That got his mind reeling.  He couldn’t think of anyone who would refuse payment on an emergency service like this.  In his mind, you seemed like the perfect woman and he couldn’t wait to see you again on Monday.

Chapter 2/25 - Chloe’s Prologue
Summary: Beca is straight as an arrow. 100%, totally, completely straight. Except for one problem that 100%, totally, completely changes everything: Chloe Beale.
Title borrowed from Calum Scott’s “If Our Love Is Wrong.”
Word Count: 3k
Rating: M (for dark themes, homophobia, masturbation, and eventual smut in later chapters)
AO3 and FFN and below the cut
Chloe has no idea how many people she’s crushed on. It feels like a lot. It is a lot.
 There are both boys and girls in elementary school. Eric Sutherland, D’Shawn Johnson, Tyler Robinsdale, Chi Lor. Kayla Henn, Veronica Applegate, Meghan Corothers. She remembers each of them; holding hands with the boys, even “dating” D’Shawn for a while in the second grade. She mostly admired the girls from a distance, but she knows what she felt for them.
She tells her parents and her older brother, Chris, about each and every one of them, which makes them laugh and smile. Her dad calls her a “heartbreaker” even at that young age. She doesn’t quite know what that means, but he smiles when he says it, so she knows it can’t be a bad thing.
Middle school passes much the same way. Ryan Gabour, Eric Sutherland (again), Jerome Zettler. Kylie Brenna, Courtney Johnson, Kendra Fink, Cady Morgan. Each hold a special place in her heart. She has classes with Ryan, Jerome, Kylie, and Courtney; she joins volleyball with Kendra and Cady. Everything is very simple.
She doesn’t care that she has feelings for both boys and girls. For her, that’s how it’s always been. She sometimes wonders why she never hears other girls talking about their crushes on girls, or why she doesn’t see it in movies or on TV, but she doesn’t let it bother her. All Chloe knows is that she likes both boys and girls, and that’s okay. She figures that she’ll fall in love with a person’s mind, personality, and soul, rather than the body they happen to come in.
She says this – that she’ll love a person, not their body – to her parents and Chris one night at dinner. A small pause comes over the table, during which her parents exchange the briefest of glances. The moment passes quickly, though, and her mom nods like she’s said something glaringly obvious (which, maybe she has). Her dad smiles at her crookedly and tells her that’s a wonderful way to fall in love. Chris, ever the teenager, continues eating his peas, utterly indifferent to his little sister’s proclamation.
She’s pretty sheltered, so it’s not until she’s almost a teenager that the word “gay” even enters her vocabulary. When it does, it’s jeered by Vincent Stridenger at two boys hugging in the hallway. It makes everyone around them turn and look, laughing and jeering. The boys break apart, red-faced and awkward.
Chloe asks Chris about it after school that night, figuring that at 16, he’d understand. His face twists when she asks, transforming into a mask of distaste she’s rarely seen before. He tells her what it means, but she still doesn’t understand why someone would use that term as an insult meant to embarrass others. Chris only pulls her close (she’s amazed; hugs from her teenage brother are becoming few and far in between) and tells her, “It’s okay that you don’t understand why. It just means you wouldn’t do something like that.”
Chloe’s first kiss happens when she’s 13, with Danny Nuck at the local burger place. He’d asked her there on a date and she’d happily agreed. It had gone well; they had a lot of shared interests in books, music, and movies. He even paid for their dinner, then had walked her outside. Because they were both too young to drive, their moms sat in their respective cars in the lot to pick them up.
Before Chloe goes to her mom’s car, though, Danny nervously asks if he can kiss her. Butterflies (the good kind) erupt in Chloe’s stomach and she nods. Danny closes the space between them and places a very small, quick peck on her lips. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but she likes how warm and happy it makes her feel.
Her second kiss is with Emily Kosma. She’s 14 and at her first high school party with actual alcohol. She doesn’t drink very much, only two cups of UV Blue mixed with lemonade, but it’s enough to fill her with a happy buzz.
Emily Kosma is in choir with her and she’s very pretty. She winks at Chloe from across the room as Chloe refills her second cup, and it draws Chloe over to her like a magnet. They talk for a bit about classes, then music, then books they both like. Chloe notices that Emily doesn’t mention boys, which is a good thing; it seems like all the other girls their age talk nonstop about boys, and that gets boring.
They end up dancing together when the music starts. It’s all innocent, until suddenly Emily’s face is close to hers – so close, that she can feel warm puffs of air against her lips. That, Emily’s looks, and the second cup of alcohol spurs Chloe to lean in and kiss Emily on the lips. She thinks about how soft Emily’s mouth is against her own, and how nice her shampoo smells.
They break apart to wolf-whistles and cheers from their tipsy peers. Chloe ignores them in favor of looking into Emily’s eyes, making sure she hadn’t embarrassed her. As it turns out, she doesn’t need to worry; Emily grins at her before reaching to pull her into their second kiss, and their last.
She doesn’t really keep track of who she kisses after that. A few different people, both boys and girls, like always. She’s not overzealous with it; she knows what high schoolers say about girls who kiss (and more than kiss) too many people. But whenever Chloe likes someone, she makes a point to kiss them, as long as they want to kiss her, too.
At 15, she realizes she should probably formally come out to her parents and to Chris. She waits until Thanksgiving, so that Chris is home from college. She’s only a little nervous to tell them because she knows they’ll love her no matter what, but she also doesn’t want them to treat her any differently because of who she dates.
She eventually squeaks it out over the dinner table in a voice that only quivers just the slightest bit. As soon as the words are out, her mom’s brow furrows. Chloe’s stomach drops, only for her mom to ask, confused, “Didn’t you already tell us that?”
Her dad shakes his head and answers for her, “Kinda, but this is the real deal, Cheryl.”
“Oh. Okay,” her mom answers, then adds, “We’re thrilled for you, honey. We want you to be happy. Right, Eric?”
“Of course,” Chloe’s dad smiles at her.
It’s that simple. Chloe grins her thanks and returns to her dinner. She’s lighter than air, filled with love for the people she cares for most in the world and their unerring acceptance of who she is.
As always, Chris continues eating, totally unfazed.
Chloe’s grandparents on her dad’s side both pass away when she’s 16. Her grandma from cancer, and her grandpa three days later from a broken heart (at least, that’s what her dad says). Chloe struggles with it; she’d loved her grandparents very much, having been especially close to her grandmother.
Their funeral is hard, and it’s the first time she can remember feeling so miserable that it actually makes her chest ache. It’s utterly appalling to her, that she can feel something like that.
She talks to her dad about it, though, and that helps. He wipes her tears and tells her that’s what love feels like, and that she’s lucky to be able to feel so deeply. Her mom and Chris help too; they hug her, hold her, bring her Kleenexes when she cries. With every day that passes after that, she can feel the ache in her chest lessening. She knows it’ll never go away completely, but she believes that it makes her a stronger, better person.
She finishes high school ranked 3rd in her class, proud of her accomplishments and full of excitement for her future. She’ll miss her friends desperately, but she already can’t wait for what Barden University will have in store for her.
Moving out is hard, but her parents and Chris (though he’s going to be a senior at his own university) help her get settled into Baker Hall. She meets her random roommate, Rachel, who seems nice, even if she is a math major (Chloe doesn’t trust people who like math that much). Chloe’s family part after countless hugs and what feels like a gallon of tears, but Chloe can’t remember ever feeling so happy and excited for the future.
Joining the Barden Bellas is the best decision she’s ever made, she’s sure of it. Well, she’s sure about her passion for singing and team bonding. She’s less sure about joining a group whose sophomore leader – Alice – is constantly rude to her and the other freshman member, Aubrey Posen.
Chloe is desperate to get to know Aubrey. The blonde is quiet, closed off, and serious in demeanor, but the occasional smile she sends Chloe’s way makes her think she’s not all stone. Still, it’s not until almost a month into Bellas rehearsals that she finally breaks through that hard exterior.
Feeling encouraged by an unusually good rehearsal, Chloe cracks her favorite joke for the group at large.
“Hey, guys,” she starts, getting their attention. “What did the janitor say when he jumped out of the closet?”
She’s met with several blank stares. Alice looks like she’s chewing the inside of her lip to keep from saying anything.
“Supplies!” Chloe cries happily, raising her arms for emphasis. “Get it?”
Only one person laughs: Aubrey. Chloe latches onto that instantly, sending her a beaming smile that Aubrey tentatively returns. She ignores the indifferent looks Alice and the other Bellas send her way in favor of moving to stand next to Aubrey while she gathers her things. They walk out of the auditorium together and Chloe practically forces her phone number into Aubrey’s reluctant hand because, damn it, she wants at least one friend among the Bellas.
Aubrey texts her that night to set up a time to hang out outside of rehearsal. In her dorm room, Chloe breaks into her happy dance in full sight of Rachel.
 Alice’s rudeness turns out to be a blessing in disguise. She and Aubrey bond over it, though Aubrey has a hard time speaking against Alice’s authority at first. Chloe learns that Aubrey comes from a military family that is filled with both love and discipline. She learns that Aubrey is capable of feeling just as much as she is, but isn’t always able to express it.
They spend many nights talking over large cheese pizzas they have delivered either to Aubrey’s room in Kennedy Hall or to Chloe’s in Baker. Friendship has always come easily to Chloe, and what she has with Aubrey is no different. It’s not long until, during a goodbye hug after one of their pizza nights, Aubrey whispers in her ear, “You’re my best friend.”
Chloe dates in college, though not often seriously, as her classes and her Bellas schedule keeps her busier than she’d like. She goes on dates with both men and women, which seems to bother Alice. Chloe doesn’t see why it should bother anyone; it’s her life, she should be able to be happy with whomever she wants. Alice doesn’t get that message, though, and near the end of Chloe’s freshman year, she tries to kick Chloe out of the Bellas. They’re all sitting down in the auditorium, Alice standing at her whiteboards when she says crudely and in front of everyone, “Chloe, if you’re going to be such a fucking slutbag, you can leave the Bellas.”
When that happens, Aubrey immediately stands up for her – literally. She rises from her chair and gets right in Alice’s face, actually forcing her back a step. Chloe can only stare in shock and awe as Aubrey snarls, “Don’t you dare say that to her. It’s none of your business if she dates girls. And you can’t kick her out. That’s discrimination, and I. Will. Tear. You. Down.”
Alice glares back but doesn’t say anything. Chloe’s not sure whether she should cry or cheer; Alice’s words had cut deep (she’s never been called a slut before) but Aubrey’s support of her means the world.
With one final huff in Alice’s direction, Aubrey moves stiffly back to her chair next to Chloe. Chloe glances over to say thanks, but Aubrey seems too angry to notice. Her hands are shaking pretty badly, with one resting on her stomach and the other gripping the side of the seat of her chair.
They never really talk about it beyond Chloe’s whispered, “Thank you,” following the rehearsal. Aubrey acknowledges it with a nod, and that’s that. Alice doesn’t bring it up again, but Chloe notices that Alice doesn’t make eye contact with her anymore after that.
Chloe falls in love with Tom Martineau at the start of her junior year. They’ve been dating for almost six months by that point, so she’s not surprised when she realizes she loves him. He’s kind to people and animals, loves music, books, and travel. He holds doors for her and always walks between her and the road. He’s considerate and good in bed (not that she has anyone to compare him to) and he loves it when she sings to him.
She loves him. That’s why it’s hard to acknowledge that their time together is drawing to a close. He’s set to graduate, while she has one year left at Barden. Even though he promises to visit during her senior year, she knows things won’t really be the same. More than that, they want different things out of life. Chloe isn’t really sure what she’s doing after college, but Tom has his next 20 years planned out. He’s planning on joining the Peace Corps and will probably spend the next five years across the world helping underprivileged kids. After that, he wants to work toward an environmental law degree, then settle down and have four kids of his own. While that all sounds amazing for him, Chloe doesn’t see herself in that picture.
They mutually break up about a week before the Bellas finals at the end of that year. Chloe needs to focus on their performance; Tom on graduation. They both cry when it ends, but they agree it’s for the best.
Chloe’s more upset than she lets on; again, she feels more than she maybe should. Tom is the first person she’s been in love with, and while they part on good terms, it still stings to know she won’t wake up with his arms around her anymore. She calls her mom that night and cries into the phone. From the next room, Aubrey hears her and brings her a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to make her feel better.
Chloe feels so, so loved that night.
The finals are a disaster. They lost the Bella win, but more than that, it feels like she’s lost her best friend. Aubrey is inconsolable, even though it isn’t really her fault. Chloe spends almost a week after the incident smoothing her hand between Aubrey’s shoulder blades as she dry-heaves into a toilet from the stress.
It’s easier once Alice moves out of the Bella house, leaving them with the keys and a cruel, “You two slutbags can’t fuck things up more than you already have, so you’re captains now.”
Chloe isn’t sorry to see the last of her.
Unfortunately, Aubrey takes Alice’s parting message to heart. She stops heaving only long enough to look up and say, “We need to win next year. We have to.” Chloe tries not to let it bother her, tries to remember that that’s Aubrey trapped in the body of some possessed, angry, and ashamed girl. She hopes the summer helps.
It doesn’t. If anything, Aubrey’s thrown herself into co-captaincy with a renewed vengeance. It’s a little scary.
Chloe knows her senior year is going to be a hard one. With the combined stresses of her classes, finding and training new Bellas, making sure Aubrey doesn’t lose her lunch, and her still relatively recently-ended relationship (though Tom still says he’d like to visit for the occasional hook-up), Chloe decides not to date anyone for a little while. Maybe even for the rest of her college career.
Then, at 21, against Aubrey’s will and recovering from a Bellas failure, Chloe meets Beca Mitchell.

°✧。 { MELTED ICE CREAM , AN EVERLASTING SMELL OF CHLORINE , RAINY NIGHTS } i can’t believe i just saw roxanne patek name ! yeah, the twenty-three year old that’s representing team australia in swimming this year. this is their third time in the games. i wonder if they’re as querulous and captious as people say. but, i mean, they seem pretty jocular and dedicated, too. well, we’ll see how well they do. °✧。 *
[chris d’elia vc] what’s up my babies, hi! im literally so exited to be here & roleplay with all of you. my names meg, living in the est and i go by she/her pronouns. i go back to school in like a week and wow ... i don’t wanna deal with all that right now , but that’s life amiright ? enough about the dred of college life, here’s my lil cinnamon bun roxi. if you’d like to plot just hit that heart button and i will come running to you ♥
here’s her career stats !
timeline
1996, roxanne zsófia-lynn patek was to born vivian and mikael patek in cairns, queensland, australia. their second child and last child. she has an older brother by three years named lucas.
her grandmother (paternal) would babysit roxi and her lucas during the days and even some nights when her dad had meetings. this was because her mom worked as a yacht stewardess so she was often away from the family and her father worked as a financier so he had a busy schedule, although he made a point to spend as much time as possible wiht the kids through activities like camping, surfing, bbq’s, and reef diving.
2002, her parents had roxi in gymnastics for a few years but she wasn’t really taken to it. she preferred to run off to the pool or talk her brother into bringing her to the beach down the road instead of stretching or practicing routines.
her father noticed how much she loved being in the water and how she’d set up races with her friends, more importantly he noticed how she always won, even against the boys. that’s when he decided to put her into competitive swimming at the local ymca. she took to it well and her coaches often raved about her abilities.
2008, she started secondary school. she joined the schools swim team, found herself a tight knit group of friends who she’s still friends with to this day.
within her first year on her schools team she’d broken most of the record set over the years as well as many records within the district. by her second year on the team she held every record but the ones in breaststroke.
2010, she made her world championship debut in dubai. she won her first international gold medal, two silver medals, and one bronze medal (the only bronze medal she’s every had on an international scale). she medaled in every race she did that year.
it was a stand out year for many reason for roxi, of course for the obvious being her first worlds but also because her family had come together for the first time for her meet. her dad, grandparents on both sides, mom, and brother were all there supporting her in the stands.
she’s had unwavered support from her family ever since. they make it to all of her meets and have had no questions of her abilities ever since.
2011, her first world aquatic championship where she won five gold medals and a silver and set her first world record, ever, in the 1500m freestyle just before she made her olympic debut in london. where she dominated, taking home a gold medal for each race she competed in. breaking two olympic records,  two australian records, and a world record.
2012, she attended that years world championships in turkey coming off her first olympic year, she and ryan lochte were named the best female and male swimmers of the competition.
2014,  she graduated from school and decided she wanted to study sports business but she wanted to explore her college years in a different country and so she applied to several schools around england and america. she inevitable decided  to attend stanford university where she was offered a full ride on a athletic scholarship.
although every summer she came back home to australia for about a month.
2015, her second olympic appearance in brazil. where she won four gold medals and two silver medals. breaking two world records, one of them being her own.
this olympics was a different experience as she’d spent alot of time with american swimmers she felt it was alot easier to start building report around the olympic village between countries apposed to her first year were she stuck mostly to her fellow australians.
2017, the day after setting a world record at the world aquatics  championships she was competing in the 200m butterfly when she banged her head against the wall during a turn. she finished the race in 2nd but was brought to the hospital due to her head bleeding and the championships were put on an hour hold to clean out the pool.
she had to announce she wouldn’t be competing in her last two races for the championships and took nearly a month off from swimming.
during that time she debated retiring in fear of the accident happening again but decided to get back to training later in the year.
2018, she graduated from stanford with a sports business degree and minor in international politics. she decided to move back home to australia were she lives just down the road from her parents in cairns.
2019, she’s just off one hell of a run at the 2019 world aquatics championships that was held in south korea. she has two new world records under her belt and four more gold medals. according to her coaches she is in the best shape of her life.
personality
 so basically roxi is not like other girls *eye roll* or atleast she will claim so until her last breath.
she’s always been a total daddy’s girl and has been giving everything she’s every wanted in life, so she’s a tad bit spoiled y’all. she’s more of a whiny baby than a raging bitch though so that’s sort of a positive?!
she was never the best in academics, roxi was a solid b- student with a tutor, but what she lacked in academics she’s made up for ten-fold in her athletic ability.
she’s only had two serious relationships her whole life.
is pansexual although she’s only ever dated guys before.
she’s the friend you hit up when it’s curfew in the village but you wanna cause a little trouble maybe prank your neighboring roommates, or run through rome. she’s always up for a good time, so long as you’re not getting int he way of her training.
on the note of training, boy, no one trains more than this girl. she’s part fish basically and lives in the pool. she is the most decorated female swimmer she didn’t get there by being lazy that’s for sure lol.
she sucks at running so she kick-boxes for workouts when she’s not in the pool.
if she likes you you’ll know, if she doesn’t, you’ll know
I'll definitely add more to this as time goes on ~

Indeed, Dorchester’s John King is Ireland’s latest household title
Tumblr media
WICKLOW, Ireland — 1 of the issues that American people to Ireland are typically confounded by is the extent to which individuals below are steeped in and educated about politics 3,000 miles absent. The transatlantic ties sewn by emigration, family and, increasingly, company are mainly accountable. And Irish folks like their politics. Over the previous four several years, it has been with a combination of disbelief and horror that they have appeared on at the Trump administration.
Accordingly, they weren’t about to cease observing until eventually they understood, for sure, who would be inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2021. A man who is recognised all over the US and to persons across Massachusetts owing to his lengthy, stellar profession at CNN, but who is specially common to Dorchester natives and citizens since he grew up in St. Mark’s Parish, so made an amazing entrance on to Ireland’s collective radar screen: It is no overstatement to say that John King was the most listened to and trustworthy personal in this region in the days after Nov. 3. More on Ireland’s newest movie star momentarily.
Back in East Milton, wherever I grew up, it’s truthful to say that politics was invariably to the fore in our house. My father, one more Larry, was a fount of wisdom about the toughest enterprise of them all. He grew up in and close to it. I want he experienced stood for office himself.
His brother Brian was a Massachusetts condition agent from Dorchester who later on invested 7 terms in the United States House of Associates and served as ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago even though Monthly bill Clinton was president. Their uncles, Frank and John Kelly, had been Boston town councillors, with Frank afterwards serving as lieutenant governor and legal professional normal and operating unsuccessfully for governor. It is in the blood. A relevant undesirable routine I picked up from my Father at a younger age was incessantly hollering again at the tv and radio when politics and current affairs ended up currently being talked about. I’ve routinely assumed that “I know greater!” and have to get my two cents in. In reality, I was jealous of these who generate a residing from talking about what is my passion.
But Boston Irish legal professionals with a solid interest in politics and an affiliation to the Democratic Occasion are much more dime a dozen than diamond in the tough in the land of my beginning. A single of the quite a few unforeseen benefits of relocating to Eire nearly two decades ago, nonetheless, has been recognizing what has constantly been a desire and taking on what has morphed into a 2nd vocation for me: media punditry on the politics of the two sites I will endlessly think about home.
Given that 2008, it has been a privilege to evaluate the outcomes of US presidential elections as they arrive in on what is typically the first Tuesday in November on RTÉ, the countrywide broadcaster. Given the time change, it is an overnight shift. This calendar year, the protection was anchored by Caitríona Perry, who claimed on American politics brilliantly in her tenure as the network’s Washington correspondent and has composed two insightful publications on the election of Donald Trump and the influence of Irish The usa.
We had been joined by a lot of high profile attendees from the US, these kinds of as previous White House Chief of Stuff Mick Mulvaney, previous Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, previous New York Congressman Joe Crowley, and sitting down Philadelphia Congressman Brendan Boyle. Our live system wrapped up soon after 4 a.m., Irish time, when the outcome was not fully distinct, but the crucial indicators have been all pointing to a acquire for Joe Biden.
Then, many thanks to satellite technologies, a person who was brought up in a threedecker between Ashmont and Fields Corner arrived into sitting rooms in each and every metropolis, city, village, and rural location.
Irish men and women are accustomed to protracted election counts and couldn’t get plenty of of it as John King broke down the final results condition by condition and county by county, demonstrating a extensive expertise as he retained heading on almost no slumber and buckets of espresso. The “magic wall” of the US he and many others use at CNN took on a daily life of itself. And inevitably, the viewers had to obtain out: Could they assert him? The screenwriter of the strike comedy “Derry Girls” questioned if he was Irish in a tweet. King’s succinct reply – “Always”- sealed the offer. In a subsequent job interview with the much beloved Miriam O’Callaghan on her Sunday morning radio clearly show, King downplayed the multiple compliments available by the host and her listeners. Acquiring completed his research, he explained Miriam as Ireland’s Oprah.
He also spoke movingly about his family, in specific his late father Chris (who, coincidentally, was a Dorchester present-day and pal of my Dad’s) and his Connemara-born grandparents, as well as the beneficial lessons figured out in childhood that have remained with him. Like so several People prior to him, King is now preparing a stop by back again “home” to Galway to reunite with his cousins and get a fuller feeling of his roots.
He has mentioned that he seems ahead to a number of pints in Keogh’s in his ancestral village of Ballyconneely – so deep in the west of Eire that the up coming stop basically is Boston. He’ll have a rough time shopping for his personal, however.
In his generally specialist interaction of what actually transpired in Election 2020, John King received the rapt notice and sincere admiration of the Irish people today. He did his family and the community that formed him extremely very pleased.
Larry Donnelly is a Boston-born legal professional, a Regulation Lecturer at the Nationwide College of Eire, Galway and a typical Irish media contributor on politics, existing affairs and legislation on both sides of the Atlantic. He is on Twitter @LarryPDonnelly.

My OCs
Connor
Appearance: 6'2, muscular, but lean. He has fairly tanned skin. Short, dark brown hair and usually clean shaved. He has a 4-inch scar under his right pectoral muscle from his time in the army. It was a severe enough stab wound to puncture his lung and affect his diaphragm. He won't specify to anyone how it happened past that it was during hand-to-hand combat of some sort.
Personality: He's tough and disciplined from his service, but he can also be kind and funny. He's gotten more accustomed to civilian life in the two years he's been back. He tries not to snap at or insult anyone, but sometimes he does have flashbacks and minor PTSD episodes that can leave his tense and irritable.
Back story: He grew up in Wisconsin with his moms, who adopted him when he was 2 years old. He had a pretty normal childhood, played football, and had a lot of friends (mostly female) and went to college at UW Madison with his best friend, Shannon. His school was paid for by ROTC, and he studied for 4 years to become an elementary school teacher. He served 5 years in the army before he was wounded (mentioned above) and was honorably discharged. He went on to meet his long-time girlfriend just months after coming back. They moved in together after about a year of dating. He currently teaches first grade in Montana and has a side-job as a personal trainer. He's still in contact with his parents, and Shannon recently moved to his city with her wife. He grew up methodist and rediscovered his faith when he met Julia, as she's catholic.
Julia
Appearance: 5'8, curvy and fit, but not very athletic. She has curly, dirty blond/light brown hair and light brown eyes. Her skin is fairly dark naturally, and she gets super tan during the summer.
Personality: She's very honest and straight to the point, but she's intelligent enough emotionally to know when it's more appropriate to sugarcoat something. She's also patient, and can sometimes be just a hopeless romantic.
Back story: She's Spanish, but she moved to the United States with a long-term work visa to become a senior partner at a law firm. She graduated from Universidad de Oviedo. She grew up in Gijon with her dad, who worked hard to support them, but struggled sometimes. They were never homeless, but they did sometimes have to stay with her grandparents. Her grandmother introduced her to Catholicism, and she'd a devoted Christian. However, she's very open-minded as far as social issues such as LGBT issues, despite the common teachings of her church. About a year after moving to Montana, she met Connor while visiting Wisconsin on a business trip. They maintained a long-distance relationship for a while, and then Connor moved to Montana with her.
Shannon
Appearance: 5'2, curvy and strong. She has ringlet curly red hair, very similar to Julia's (aside from the color) and blue eyes. She's pale and has a lot of freckles all over.
Personality: She's very bouncy. Growing up, she wanted to be an actress, so she's dramatic and energetic. Something is seriously wrong when she's not smiling.
Back story: She lived about a block away from Connor as a kid, and they hated each other until about 5th grade, when they bonded over their similarities. She actually played on the middle school men's football team too, as a defensive guard, but the high school varsity team wouldn't let her play. She was angry about it for a while, but it turned out to be a good thing because it allowed her to discover her passion for theater. She had two loving parents, but her mom died in a car crash on the way to her college graduation ceremony. She'd still scarred by it, and the anniversary of that day is always one of the rare times that she doesn't smile. She met her wife, Zhalai in their senior year, and they immediately clicked. She studied to become an accountant, and received her master's degree. They married about three years after they met and moved to Montana together.
Zhalai
Appearance: 5'6, fairly thin, with very prominent features (sharp cheekbones, etc.). She's of Arabic descent, and has fairly dark skin. She wears a hijab, and has hazel eyes.
Personality: A lot of people think she's pretentious because she's so philosophical and poetic all the time, but she's actually pretty down-to-earth. She's warm and loving, a hopeless romantic.
Back story: She grew up on the opposite side of Wisconsin from Connor and Shannon with her parents and three brothers. She's a triplet, and their other brother is three years older than she is. She's close with her family, she always has been. When she met Shannon and told her parents, they didn't understand at first, but after a few months and a lot of talking, they came to accept and like Shannon. They were thrilled when Zhalai got married. She works as a therapist, and got her degree in psychology. She was wary of Shannon's friends when they first moved to Montana; she actually didn't like Julia much at all, but it only took her a few weeks to warm up to them.
Caleb
Appearance: 6'0, muscular, curly brown hair and green eyes.
Personality: He's kind, but a little bit rough around the edges. He'll do anything for the people he's close to, but he doesn't really trust new people. It takes him a long time to open up to people.
Back story: He grew up in a small town in Montana, and hated it. Basically everyone was homophobic and it was exactly what could be expected. His family was homophobic too, and he was pretty much forced to live in the closet all through his teen years. When he graduated, he got out of there right away.   He moved to California and went to a college in the inner city. He spent a few years getting drunk and struggling really badly until he got into an awful abusive relationship with a guy named Darren. He was physically and mentally abused for almost three months before he finally got out, and then he realized it was time to go home. He moved back to Montana and stayed with an old friend for a while, and then met his current boyfriend Chris. Chris was kind of a reality check for him; he got him back in shape, sobered him up, and in the process they fell in love. They now live together, and Caleb is working part-time as an adult competitive swim instructor while he finishes nursing school online.
Chris
Appearance: 6'4, athletic build, blond hair that wears a little shorter on the sides and longer on the top.
Personality: He's a really happy-go-lucky kind of  guy, and he has a hard time being serious. He's not the smartest,(he's not dumb, just kind of a stereotypical jock) but he makes up for it by working really hard, and with his charm. He's quick to get close to people, but not quick to let go.
Back story: Chris' dad was a businessman, and his family traveled a lot. He never stayed at one school long enough to join any sports (though he would have been great at them) but he did make a ton of friends, and he stayed in contact with some of them for a while. After bouncing from city to city for years, Chris graduated from high school in Minnesota, and then his family moved to Helena, Montana to settle down. His dad still travels, but it doesn't really affect Chris since he got a job as a private trainer (where he met Connor) and got his own place. He's a little bit spoiled, just because his family is so rich, but not in a bad way. He more just doesn't understand that some people aren't as priveliged as he is.

Captain Spirit: 4 Questions to Think About Between Now and Life is Strange 2
The following contains spoilers for The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Those who have not played this game are advised to come back later.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a whimsical journey into the imagination of a young boy, but it's also a window into a troubled youth. Chris is like an average kid in many ways, waking up on a Saturday morning with the whole world before him. But players were also witness to just how tumultuous his living situation is, living along with a father who's falling deeper into alcoholism by the day.
Those who have played the full game saw that Captain Spirit will not only lead into Life is Strange 2, but Chris will also be a big part of the game. In fact, he could be considered the upcoming game's main character. So while our review noted that it can be enjoyed as a standalone story, there are enough seeds planted for the future to the point that Shacknews has a couple of questions. Let's pose a few of those right now.
Where Did Chris' Bruise Come From?
This is one of the more unpleasant questions, right out of the gate. When Chris goes down to breakfast, his father, Charles, makes sure to check on his arm. Chris has a nasty bruise, with his dad noting that it still hasn't healed. A young boy like Chris can rack up bruises doing just about anything. He could have gotten it while playing, he could have had a mishap, or he might have even gotten into a scuffle with some bullies. After all, players do discover over the course of the game that Chris has been disciplined by the school for getting into a physical altercation with one of the other kids, who was mocking his father's job loss.
Then there's the other far more unsettling idea that Chris' father is physically abusing him. This is raised as a possibility when Charles asks Chris is anyone has asked about it, his approach indicating a degree of guilt. It's made all the more plausible by Charles' rampant alcoholism that's only gotten worse since he lost his job and since Chris' mother died. His father clearly has impulse control issues, judging by the way he casually swears around Chris and the way he bursts into fits of rage.
Alcohol isn't the sole cause of anyone becoming violent towards loved ones, but it does give alcoholics a big push. The idea of Chris being abused is heartbreaking, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. And situations like this rarely just "get better." If Chris' father is physically harming his son, that situation is only going to get worse, more violent, and much harder to watch.
Would Chris and His Father's Relationship Reach a Point Where They Need to be Separated?
The idea of child abuse naturally segues into the question of whether Chris would need to be separated from his father. But ideas like this are never simple or straightforward. It's important to have the child's best interests in mind, but also have some respect for what the child wants. And in this case, Chris can't see himself leaving his father's side.
Players likely found a letter from Chris' grandparents, urging his father to let them take custody of Chris full-time. Chris responded with his inner monologue, saying that while he loves his grandparents, he doesn't want to leave his father. And that's the root of Chris' thought process regarding this issue. It's a matter of abandonment.
Captain Spirit takes place shortly after Chris' mother passed. His father is in a vulnerable place, having lost his wife and his job in a short time span. He's spiraling into alcoholism and in desperate need of support. If Chris were to be separated from his father, he'd feel like he's abandoning him at his greatest time of need.
But at the same time, putting all of that pressure on Chris is unfair to the child. At some point the onus needs to be on his father to pick himself up and find a more constructive way of dealing with what life has thrown at him. For the sake of his relationship with his son, he has to, because there are others who love Chris and are willing to take care of him if he isn't.
Was Chris' Mother a Victim of Foul Play?
The mystery of what exactly happened to Chris' mother is one of the most captivating angles in Captain Spirit. There are constant references made to Chris' mother and how she's gone, but it's never explicity stated what exactly happened. That changes once players finally get the combination to the locker in the garage.
There's where Chris discovers that his mother died after being struck down by a car. The incident is being looked at as a homicide and the investigation is ongoing as the game is unfolding. The circumstances of Emily Eriksen's death leave a lot of questions. It's noted that she had abandoned her car and that she was struck head-on by a speeding car, with police concluding it was an intentional act.
Players can start to piece together exactly why this happened as they look through Emily's backstory. Many items in the house point to her as a brilliant cartoonist, one who stopped short of reaching her full potential as she dropped out of school and focused on her family. Players also look into Chris' father and his past as a basketball star, as well as a black book that implies he's into underground gambling. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Emily's death is tied to outstanding gambling debts or to enemies that Charles made over the course of his basketball career.
The most intriguing possibility pops up when Chris discovers one of his mother's old art books from Mark Jefferson. Yes, that Mark Jefferson, the man behind Rachel Amber's murder who racked up a list of victims while carrying on the facade of a kindly photographer. The idea that Emily would fall in with Jefferson and wind up in his Dark Room, only to get struck down by a car while attempting to escape is entirely plausible. In fact, the coincidences line up so well, it has to be a red herring. But this would be some way to tie the two Life is Strange games together, wouldn't it?
Does Chris Really Have Powers and What Does it Mean That His Neighbors Witnessed Them?
Life is Strange is not a sci-fi, fantasy, or supernatural game, as Dontnod has made explicity clear over the past several years. However, they're perfectly fine with using a fantasy or supernatural element as a plot device to push forward a grounded story. In Chris' case, he may actually have a superpower.
Captain Spirit ended with Chris running away from his father and retreating to his treehouse. But one of the wooden rungs snaps off and he starts to fall, only to float in mid-air right before he lands. But while Max's time travel power was something she mainly kept to herself, Chris' power manifested itself in front of some of his neighbors, all roughly his age.
It's likely that Chris does have powers and they'll factor into Life is Strange 2 similar to how Max's powers worked for the first game. They'll be a central element, they'll be a method of pushing the plot forward, but they'll only be used in service to a grounded plot. How do his powers work? Consider that there was never an explanation given to how Max got her powers or how they came to be, so don't go into Life is Strange 2 expecting to get all of these answers.
But what does it mean that there were witnesses to Chris' powers? This will likely serve as an introduction to Chris' supporting cast in the upcoming Life is Strange 2. They'll be there to show Chris that he's not alone with his problems and that he does have a positive support foundation beyond his father. But to carry the superhero motif forward, every good hero needs a team, meaning Captain Spirit may learn that he's not the only superhero on the block.

I'm sorry but that tea is so incredibly fake. They know everything about the girl, all her hopes and dreams. They know everything about how the grandma feels about the situation. They know the very famous dad has paid child support and while he's almost done has no intention of stopping. They know how everyone in the situation is thinking & feeling, which is impossible. Maybe the mom could know that info because she'd be the one connecting them all, but she's supposedly dead... 1/2
2/2... and her death is the one thing this person doesn't know? It was an od, or maybe an allergy? Those two things look nothing alike in reality. Yeah, I call bs on that. Just some bored troll who saw the "Chris shoots his shot to a black girl" thread & knows marvel films in the south. Except, he wasn't part of marvel almost 19 years ago (because if she's almost 18, he had too hook up with mom nine months before). And the south wasn't a film mecca 20 years ago anyway. The details are BS.
It doesn’t add up to me, either. Chris was in NYC, Boston, and LA at that time - not the South. Yet somehow this girl’s very very overprotective and controlling parents let her out of their site for several weeks where she had a fling with him? I’m not buying that. Not that it’s impossible, but what was she doing so far away from her family at that age? Sure, she could have been in college, but I have to think that if she got pregnant, had a baby and dropped out of college and moved back home, things would have played out differently than the way the incog described. It doesn’t add up.
If she left college to have and raise a baby, at some point they would have finally relented on their ridiculousness to not let him have anything to do with their lives. After all, her whole life trajectory would have changed. As his career took off, they would have likely come out of the woodwork to take advantage of that for her and her baby’s sake. Also, still keeping with the policy of not letting him have anything to do with the child, not telling her, and even faking who bought her a car? After all this time? I don’t think so. Sure, people keep secrets and lies. I don’t think this one, though. Not for this long.
Finally, since so few people know, why would they tell? The incog didn’t know exactly how the mother died, so she’s not connected with the mother. Where did she find out? The rest of the family? The grandparents? If that‘s the case, it wouldn’t be hard to narrow down who the incog was connected to, and the whole thing would blow up. That’s too risky, and I’m not buying it.
The whole story as told doesn’t add up. I’d like to read the fanfic on tumblr now.
