In the pilot Shawn comes to the police station expecting a commendation and reward money for the tip he called in about the stereo store robbery. He’s called in dozens of tips before but it seems doesn’t usually come to the station afterwards. 

So this specific time someone must have asked him to come down, hinting that he’d be rewarded. Clearly not Lucinda (Lassiter’s partner) because she scoffs at the idea when Shawn asks when he’s getting his money. Lassiter has taken the time to read Shawn’s file but he wouldn’t play about pretending that he’s offering a reward.

So it had to be Karen who asked him to come to the station, right? Was she planning to get his help on the McCallum kidnapping as a legit consultant? Then, when Lassiter tried to arrest him, Shawn pulls the whole psychic act as a panicky get-out-of-jail-free move. So Karen rolled with it and hired him as a psychic instead. She tells him she needs a miracle - or the facsimile of one - but really she recognises the perfect opportunity to use Shawn’s skills without having to hire him for a real job at the department.

They both know he’s scamming but she’s the interim Chief and isn’t going to let the feds get away stealing her one chance at such a high profile case. And the Spencer kid is probably going to get bored and leave town soon, so they probably won’t have to keep up this psychic charade for too long…..

Okay, so, a scene from Psych that I want to talk about for a moment is from the episode “65 million years off,” where Shawn walks into the morgue(?) with Gus’s old dinosaur head costume, and is basically told by the Chief that

“Okay, so, you’ve always been a bit.. eccentric or whatever, but this is crossing a line- get help.” I’m paraphrasing, but you get the point. And in response, Shawn was like-

“Chief, sometimes you have to need to jump off a cliff. You need to clip yourself to a jumping thing, and leap. So, Chief, will you jump off a cliff with me?”

And, for a moment, she just looked at him in concern. Then she asked him, kind of quietly you know, “Are you thinking about jumping off a cliff?”

And all he said in response was “maybe..” with- a weird smile before he closed the dinosaur mouth and leaving without saying anything else. The next scene was literally an intervention.

And- if I remember correctly, it was right after cases weren’t really coming in, he was told that the police didn’t need him around at the time, nobody was believing his dinosaur theory, and Gus was getting upset.

And, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone ever talk about that, so maybe I’m just- thinking too much into it. (I probably am). But.. yeah. Shawn probably could’ve used that therapy.

this is mostly because of his obsession with guns, landmines, and the civil war

basically the only ares kid who gets along with athena kids. probably wishes he was one

and of course he HATES magic because it doesnt make sense so bam instant rivalry with shawn

part of the reason he doesnt get along with his mother is because of being lied to about his parentage, cause his stepdad is a dick and he wouldve been glad to know they werent related

Juliet O'Hara, daughter of Athena

pissed off at her parentage. she loves athena but she hates knowing that shes related to frank and not her mom

gets along great w lassie cause he may be an ares kid but hes not incredibly stupid like most of them

hates spiders of course

she joined the camp rather early in her life, because frank knew about the camp and she wanted to get away from him. ironic huh

Chief Karen Vick, child of Athena

they left the camp when they could to become a police officer up to chief, then returned to help Chiron out as a co-camp director because Mr. D does absolutely nothing

this way them and juliet are half siblings :D

I just finished reading a Psych x Supernatural crossover fanfic, and it was so GOOD.

The characters mannerisms? On point. TO A T. I COULD LITERALLY HEAR THEM TALKING.

I’m glad that Henry turned the job offer down, he doesn’t even actually help them that much, he’ll usually just go “Shawn I’m not a part of this >:(“ then bring up hats or maybe something mildly useful and that’s it!

Which is fine since it’s not his job, it’s Shawn’s, but oh my god I did not like Chief Vick thinking he helps way more than he actually does
