Something that's been on my mind, which affects only a very niche group of Doctor Who fans (us Doctor Rose shippers who reject the majority of canon that is) is despite there being some dozen or so major stories rewriting various seasons of DW to include Rose, most of them conveniently write out the possibly of them having children???
Now, to make things clear here I'm not about to suggest a repopulate the Earth Gallifrey type story but I think it's strange how many people seem to just reject the Doctor and Rose having kids??
I feel like there's plenty of reason to think these are characters that would eventually want some children
Of course the main reason I'm sure a lot of people don't go this route with their various Rose stays around/Rose is somewhat immortal or altered by Bad Wolf story is just because if you're rewriting canon it becomes way harder to stick to that if you have a bunch of extra tiny people to factor into things
As a coward myself I'm not sure how you would actually manage to rewrite the show like that without inadvertently benching Rose or having the kid(s) locked away in the TARDIS for the majority of the story
Anyway that's all just to say I think there's a lack of the Doctor and Rose bouncing around time and space with a bunch of little kids in the universe despite the Doctor being pretty regularly shown as being good around kids and there's really only one instance of 20 year old Rose making a couple comments about kids being annoying to support the whole "they wouldn't want kids argument"
Just imagine the longstanding storyline of the Doctor and Rose in the TARDIS with a big happy family over the span of a few centuries, I've only seen one big story play with this kind of storyline and I just think there should be more brave souls tackling this kind of story

God's Workmanship

Those chronicles that give a date for Edward (IV) and Elizabeth (Woodville)’s marriage each specify the same one: 1 May. This date is compatible with the known movements of Edward, who was at Stony Stratford the night of 30 April 1464 and could have made an excursion to and from Grafton that morning, as claimed by Fabyan in the sixteenth century:
[I]n most secret manner, upon the first day of May, King Edward spoused Elizabeth […] which spousals were solemnised early in the morning at a town called Grafton, near Stony Stratford; at which marriage were no persons present but the spouse, the spousess, the Duchess of Bedford her mother, the priest, two gentlewomen, and a young man to help the priest sing. After which spousals ended, he went to bed, and so tarried there three or four hours, and after departed and rode again to Stony Stratford, and came as though he had been hunting, and there went to bed again. And within a day or two after, he sent to Grafton to the Lord Rivers, father unto his wife, showing to him he would come and lodge with him a certain season, where he was received with all honour, and so tarried there by the space of four days. In which season, she nightly to his bed was brought, in so secret manner, that almost none but her mother was of counsel.
Several historians, however, have questioned the May Day date. As David Baldwin notes, ‘The idea of a young, handsome king marrying for love on Mayday may have been borrowed from romantic tradition’. J.L. Laynesmith agreed that ‘1 May is a suspiciously apt day for a young king to marry for love. May had long been the month associated with love, possibly originating in pre-Christian celebrations of fertility and certainly celebrated in the poetry of the troubadours’. Moreover, there are documentary reasons to be wary of the May Day date. On 10 August 1464, Edward signed a document giving Hastings the wardship of Thomas Grey. Wardships were lucrative commodities; if Elizabeth was already married to the king, it seems likely, as Michael Hicks has pointed out, that she would have asked to keep the wardship for herself. Furthermore, on 30 August 1464, Edward granted the county of Chester to his brother George, Duke of Clarence, apparently in his capacity as heir apparent. Such a grant would seem unnecessary if Edward had just married a lady who could be expected to provide him with an heir of his own body.
Whether the couple were married on May Day or later, the scant record does bear out Hall’s claim that a priest was present at the wedding. A Master John Eborall, whose church of Paulspury was close to Grafton and Stony Stratford, is said to have offered in 1471 to intercede in a land dispute involving the queen ‘supposing that he might have done good in the matter, forasmuch as he was then in favour because he married King Edward and Queen Elizabeth together’ A chronicle known as Hearne’s Fragment adds that the priest who married the couple was buried at the high altar of the Minories in London, but leaves a blank space for the man’s name.”

it could be worse I could be a musicologist :) worst field ever btw needs to just stop existing die musicology
#I hate when ppl hate on ethnomusicology bc the name sounds sus#like babe ur pointing at the wrong guy I promise#the musicologist response to like awakenings abt class and race and gender etc is actually fascinating#bc OK u can scrape the barrel for like 2 nonwhite composers and 4 women#but ur entire field is literally defined on the 19tu century european aristocracys taste like#w history or smth u can be like oh what about women in history#but it's like if the history of rich white guys was it's own specific field with its own specific methodology which is then used to evaluat#all other history#you cant like. make that woke and inclusive you just have to admit that its your specific specialism in the study of music and not its own#definitive thing#literally wild that music departments are centred on about 200 years of upper class white male music making#and the study of ALL OTHER MUSIC that's ever existed is like. a niche specialism that makes up maybe 10% of the department#i had to do a bunch of like Bach style 4 part harmony stuff in first year and it was soo...#it's like interesting to study as like a specific tradition and I've always said it's basically like sudoku dhdif it's very mathematic#but its literally a completely arbitrary like aesthetic judgement which is entirely defined by its tradition#and by having weird old white guys with access to the rules established by the previous generation of weird old white guys#and lots of time to sit around for hours completing these little musical puzzles#it's not really like An Innate Truth of Music#and obv as a folk musician I'm like i see the worth in this and I also find it very prohibitive of what i see as the various functional#purposes of music. and im much more interested by like people developing fiddle styles that allowed them to play for longer at a ceilidh#or ballads being constructed in a way that enables someone who cant read to remember 100+ of them#etc.#if u actually recognise western art music as arbitrary it then opens it up for study but just being like this is Good Music like well..why?#and they have reasons obviously but it's like according to the rules established by western art music so it's like yeah of course WAM is#good at being WAM and sea shanties are very bad at it#but like that's both obvious and meaningless so.....

Hannah's Prayer of Thanksgiving
Tumblr media
1 Hannah prayed: “The Lord has filled my heart with joy; I feel very strong in the Lord. I can laugh at my enemies; I am glad because you have helped me!
2 “There is no one holy like the Lord. There is no God but you; there is no Rock like our God.
3 “Don’t continue bragging, don’t speak proud words. The Lord is a God who knows everything, and he judges what people do.
4 “The bows of warriors break, but weak people become strong.
5 Those who once had plenty of food now must work for food, but people who were hungry are hungry no more. The woman who could not have children now has seven, but the woman who had many children now is sad.
6 “The Lord sends death, and he brings to life. He sends people to the grave, and he raises them to life again.
7 The Lord makes some people poor, and others he makes rich. He makes some people humble, and others he makes great.
8 The Lord raises the poor up from the dust, and he lifts the needy from the ashes. He lets the poor sit with princes and receive a throne of honor. “The foundations of the earth belong to the Lord, and the Lord set the world upon them.
9 He protects those who are loyal to him, but evil people will be silenced in darkness. Power is not the key to success.
10 The Lord destroys his enemies; he will thunder in heaven against them. The Lord will judge all the earth. He will give power to his king and make his appointed king strong.” — 1 Samuel 2:1-10 | New Century Version (NCV) The Holy Bible, New Century Version®. Copyright © 2005 by Thomas Nelson, Inc.
