🧠 about the siblings!
🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?
Oh gosh I had to think about this
For Elio, I think I love how edgy and angsty he is lol. I love the fact that he puts on this edgy, serious, mysterious facade but in reality he’s a very caring person who would do anything for the people he loves. I also love drawing his hair and putting him in fancy outfits. :]
For Lyra, I’d have to say that I love who she is as a person. Design wise, Lyra is inspired by season 3 Amity Blight from the owl house and Aubrey from omori, but her personality is much more like Carmen’s from the 2019 Carmen Sandiego Netflix reboot. Although she seems scary he is an incredibly empathetic person. They have only killed people who have hurt herself or others and even then struggled to bring themself to actually kill a person. Anything they steal has already been stolen for selfish and personal reasons, so he steals it and gives it back to whoever the stuff belonged to. Lyra does their vigilante/super thief stuff to help others and would never purposefully hurt innocents.
For the twins, well first off I LOVE that one of leading characters in my story is aroace and that the other leading character is trans male. I don’t know why, but that makes me really happy. Anyways I also love their designs. I love how they compliment and match each other yet they still appear different enough to be their own people and that they could stand on their own. I myself am the youngest child with two older siblings, so I pretty much took some different aspects of myself and split them into two different characters. I love how fun they are to write. I love how silly they are and how fun they are to draw. SGSJDHDSKDBDB I just love them so much
Anyways, sorry for rambling so much, I wasn’t too sure how to respond to this with precise answers so I guess y’all get some more info on my babies lol

My solarballs + 2 extra celestial objects human designs and their heights!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll be honest, it took me so long to post this because some of them are inspired by various different medias (+ other people's design, ahem ahem, callistopost designs are amazing, I infact took some inspo from them!) and I made it TOO similar so it took me a week to change the design to actually look somewhat original? Although, I hope they don't mind...

what would happened if Sun and Moon met their sisters Eclipse, Earth, Eris, Tarth, Star, Saturn, Mars, Mercury, Ceres, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon, Betelgeuse, and their friends Gooseworx, and Vivziepop, would they get along together, would there be alot of assistants for Caine? would they also be daycare attendants?
if we’re looking at this in a digital circus pov, considering Gooseworx created TADC, she’d know her way around it better than anyone else, so she might be nice and help out the others, and VivziePop is good at like making up worlds (like Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, etc etc) so I feel like those two would get along well. With the daycare attendant thing, you just gotta be a kid person for that. If the people listed above all are kid people, sure, but if they’re not, working at a daycare would probably be absolute Hell. im not an expert on the others though, my brain is smooth ngl 💀

zelena's training score review
Tumblr media
Thank you all for joining me for the post-training show. What an exciting couple of days we've had! There have been highs and lows and those are only the scores from our beloved Eleven lesbians.
Seriously, has Bramble been swindling us all along? A TEN? I'd pay good money to have been a fly on the wall of that training center. And speaking of unexpectedly high scores, Slate Flint/Skylar/Ember/RIP with the... NINE? That's not one I saw coming. Has Hestia dipped a toe into the world of blackmail? What skills could he possibly have demonstrated, shitty coffee pouring? (Slate, I will never forget your time as an intern. Never. I trusted you, you little rat.)
Meanwhile we've got the pair from Two coming in with identical scores. Aw, so cute, we almost want to ship it! Those who score together... (But eights? Really, guys? You could have done better than that, right?)
Turning toward District One, our favorite little wannabe Capitolites (wink, wink — you know we love you, One!), Callisto Meadowforge coming in with the same score as her sister. Will she give us just as good a show as dear Cressida did way back when? We can only hope.
As for our pals from Seven, well... what can we say? Flora's one did not have me shocked; what did she do, weave flower crowns in there? And as for Arden, well, you know I'd be interested in a weirdo protege, but a four isn't much to write home about either.
My main question that remains is: what the hell are Twelve's sponsors gonna do? They could either support Slate, traitor against the country, or Mercuria, who... scored... a two. Even a three, I could have spun into a positive, but a two? Honey, please.
Oh well. One thing's for sure: this is going to be a very interesting Arena.

Incorrect Quotes #1
Persie to her significant others: I would die for you
Gray: That’s not saying much. You would come back.
Persie: I’d kill for you.
Mar: You we’re murderous before we met you.
Persie, thinking hard: hmmmmmmm
Persie: I would let go of a long standing grudge for you?
Gray and Mar look at each other
Gray: that’s as good as “I love you” from her

The Human Future: A Case For Optimism
youtube
Great video by Melody Sheep which presents three futures for humanity:
Extinction
Stagnation
Transcendence
Extinction is always a possibility, but humanity could survive (& potentially bounce back) if reduced from billions to millions.
Personally, I believe humanity will expand to the Moon in the near future, & Mars by the end of the century, & the moons of Ganymede & Callisto (orbiting Jupiter), as well as Titan (who orbits Saturn).
As far as large space stations go, I am skeptical of them ever being built due to the economics & competing real estate of terrestrial planets, dwarf planets & moons (as terrestrial worlds will be easier to build upon).

Broke out the telescope again this evening. (I was gonna do it yesterday but the sky went from clear at 5:45 to overcast at 6:15 — 🤨.) At this point, I’m codifying all those things that made this telescope free to a good home, applying workarounds, and adjusting accordingly. I *definitely* need to get the spotting scope nailed down so it don’t move no more. I got it nicely adjusted in daylight last month, but it’s all sorts of wonky now. If your spotting scope is off then you’re spending most of your time doing random search circles around where maybe the object might be located… like I did tonight. LOLNO. Speaking of magnifications, I can get 36-72-90-180-225-450x with the eyepieces I have. No small scope can make 450x work, and this particular model has a very poor 225x. However, this is not unexpected from a 114mm aperture. 36x is nice and bright but not much better than the binox. 72-90x seems to be the workable range for this instrument, although the 180x with the 10mm plus Barlow is better than expected. I probably need a 12mm eyepiece for a clean 75x with a 150x Barlow option. Finally, the mount is still pretty annoying and needs a lot of work to hold things still. Basically, it’s old and worn and probably wasn’t optimal to begin with. I haven’t decided yet if I’ll attempt to mount the scope on a basic altazimuth camera tripod; there are advantages to an equatorial mount but this mount doesn’t really have them. I did get some good pics this evening, and the camera actually behaved and made very little fuss, which was astounding given the experience I had with the binox last week. First, Saturn with actual rings, at 90 and 180x. It was pretty big at 225x but very fuzzy so I didn’t bother. Next, the Moon, nice clean 36x shot plus some details, craters, terminator and Earthshine. Callisto-Ganymede-Io-Jupiter at 180x. I wish I could get the cloud bands to show but that might be too much to ask. And, amazingly, a nice crisp Mars, obviously round and obviously red. #iphoneastrophotography #lunarphotography #themoon #shallowskyastronomy #newtonianreflector #telescope #114mm #galileanmoons #jupiter #io #europa #ganymede #callisto #saturn #rings #mars https://www.instagram.com/p/CmshSCesnHq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

your mama’s crying [OC animatic - The Secrets of the Mars Family]
CW/TW FOR: violence, character death, blood (kind of?? It’s not red it’s just black scribbles but just in case), Andromeda is the world’s WORST mum, and by that I mean she tries to kill two of her kids, uhhhh I think that’s it you’ve been warned. I don’t think I’d as bad as the warnings may make it seem but I’m the one who made it so take that with a grain of salt I guess. Also major spoilers for the end of my oc story but there’s no where to read it so I guess you have to see how it ends
Song: Just Take My Wallet by Jack Stauber
Characters featured: Callisto Mars, Castor Mars, Tempest Noctira, Elio Mars, Lyra Mars, Andromeda Mars, Orion Mars (all are my ocs from my oc story The Secrets of the Mars Family)
Characters & animation belong to me!! Music belongs to Jack Stauber!!

setting aside that we really need to focus first on maintaining the habitability of life on Earth before space exploration, I think plans to colonize Mars as opposed to another part of space are misguided
there is definitely a kind of romantic allure about colonizing our neighboring planet, but I think that for a few reasons - scientifically, economically, and practically - serious efforts and research should be directed towards one of the moons of Jupiter instead
Tumblr media
Ganymede: largest Galilean moon, the largest and most massive moon in the solar system. the only local satellite known to contain a magnetic field that would help block harmful solar radiation. possible liquid subsurface liquid ocean.
Tumblr media
Callisto: second-largest Galilean moon. oldest and most heavily cratered surface of any body found in the solar system. low radiation levels. long considered one of the most suitable human base near Jupiter.
Tumblr media
Europa: the smallest Galilean moon. thin, oxygen-based atmosphere. very smooth ice-based surface suggesting a subsurface water ocean. likely contains interesting features like ice geysers and geothermal vents
all three moons are shielded to some degree by Jupiter’s magnetic field. all three have a lower mass than Mars, which would have an affect on relative gravity if their surfaces were colonized. all three are estimated to have substantial liquid and ice water reserves as well as many other natural and meteoric deposits of useful and extractable minerals and gases. all three are tidally-locked, with one side always facing Jupiter
one of these almost certainly contains some form of life locked inside subsurface oceans and lakes
being so close to Jupiter - by far the largest and most massive planet in our solar system - it’s 80 other moons and the asteroid belt, and its enormous gravity well that could be used to assist outbound space missions would be a far more useful and interesting place for us to explore than Mars in my opinion
honestly there’s a good chance life does exist somewhere on Mars, and a lot of efforts to map and prepare the planet for eventual colonization are already in motion
I just think that any one of these moons would be cooler and potentially far more valuable to our understanding of the universe and for the resources that they may contain which could be extracted and used by settlers and scientists

The Artemis I Mission: To the Moon and Back
The Artemis I mission was the first integrated test of the Orion spacecraft, the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and Exploration Ground Systems at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We’ll use these deep space exploration systems on future Artemis missions to send astronauts to the Moon and prepare for our next giant leap: sending the first humans to Mars.
Take a visual journey through the mission, starting from launch, to lunar orbit, to splashdown.
Liftoff
Tumblr media
The SLS rocket carrying the Orion spacecraft launched on Nov. 16, 2022, from Launch Complex 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The world’s most powerful rocket performed with precision, meeting or exceeding all expectations during its debut launch on Artemis I.
"This is Your Moment"
Tumblr media
Following the successful launch of Artemis I, Launch Director Charlie Blackwell-Thompson congratulates the launch team.
“The harder the climb, the better the view,” she said. “We showed the space coast tonight what a beautiful view it is.”
That's Us
Tumblr media
On Orion’s first day of flight, a camera on the tip of one of Orion’s solar arrays captured this image of Earth.
Inside Orion
Tumblr media
On the third day of the mission, Artemis I engineers activated the Callisto payload, a technology demonstration developed by Lockheed Martin, Amazon, and Cisco that tested a digital voice assistant and video conferencing capabilities in a deep space environment. In the image, Commander Moonikin Campos occupies the commander’s seat inside the spacecraft. The Moonikin is wearing an Orion Crew Survival System suit, the same spacesuit that Artemis astronauts will use during launch, entry, and other dynamic phases of their missions. Campos is also equipped with sensors that recorded acceleration and vibration data throughout the mission that will help NASA protect astronauts during Artemis II. The Moonikin was one of three “passengers” that flew aboard Orion. Two female-bodied model human torsos, called phantoms, were aboard. Zohar and Helga, named by the Israel Space Agency (ISA) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) respectively, supported the Matroshka AstroRad Radiation Experiment (MARE), an experiment to provide data on radiation levels during lunar missions. Snoopy, wearing a mock orange spacesuit, also can be seen floating in the background. The character served as the zero-gravity indicator during the mission, providing a visual signifier that Orion is in space.
Far Side of the Moon
Tumblr media
A portion of the far side of the Moon looms large in this image taken by a camera on the tip of one of Orion’s solar arrays on the sixth day of the mission.
First Close Approach
Tumblr media
The Orion spacecraft captured some of the closest photos of the Moon from a spacecraft built for humans since the Apollo era — about 80 miles (128 km) above the lunar surface. This photo was taken using Orion’s optical navigational system, which captures black-and-white images of the Earth and Moon in different phases and distances.
Distant Retrograde Orbit
Tumblr media
Orion entered a distant retrograde orbit around the Moon almost two weeks into the mission. The orbit is “distant” in the sense that it’s at a high altitude approximately 50,000 miles (80,467 km) from the surface of the Moon. Orion broke the record for farthest distance of a spacecraft designed to carry humans to deep space and safely return them to Earth, reaching a maximum distance of 268,563 miles (432,210 km).
Second Close Approach
Tumblr media
On the 20th day of the mission, the spacecraft made its second and final close approach to the Moon flying 79.2 miles (127.5 km) above the lunar surface to harness the Moon’s gravity and accelerate for the journey back to Earth.
Cameras mounted on the crew module of the Orion spacecraft captured these views of the Moon’s surface before its return powered flyby burn.
Heading Home
Tumblr media
After passing behind the far side of the Moon on Flight Day 20, Orion powered a flyby burn that lasted approximately 3 minutes and 27 seconds to head home. Shortly after the burn was complete, the Orion spacecraft captured these views of the Moon and Earth, which appears as a distant crescent.
Parachutes Deployed
Tumblr media
Prior to entering the Earth’s atmosphere, Orion’s crew module separated from its service module, which is the propulsive powerhouse provided by ESA (European Space Agency). During re-entry, Orion endured temperatures about half as hot as the surface of the Sun at about 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit (2,760 degrees Celsius). Within about 20 minutes, Orion slowed from nearly 25,000 mph (40,236 kph) to about 20 mph (32 kph) for its parachute-assisted splashdown.
Splashdown
Tumblr media
On Dec. 11, the Orion spacecraft splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California after traveling 1.4 million miles (2.3 million km) over a total of 25.5 days in space. Teams are in the process of returning Orion to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Once at Kennedy, teams will open the hatch and unload several payloads, including Commander Moonikin Campos, the space biology experiments, Snoopy, and the official flight kit. Next, the capsule and its heat shield will undergo testing and analysis over the course of several months.
Make sure to follow us on Tumblr for your regular dose of space!
