Calculester & Reader who Struggles in School.

Calculester Hewlett-Packard does really well in school. He has the internet as his brain, everything known by man at his fingertips. I wouldn’t assume he talks about school much because he knows he has a huge advantage over everybody else and doesn’t want to upset people by telling them that he has straight A’s in most of his classes. This rule especially applies to you, Cal knows that you don’t do the best in school. Whether you are a person who tries super hard and still doesn’t make it that far or decides to skip class multiple times a week, I would imagine Calculester would be clueless about your struggles.

I would think that he would only notice after midterms.

Everybody is sharing their scores. Liam is subtly bragging about how he got the highest in the school, Polly is super excited to show everybody that she got a 69 and Scott is relieved that he just did good enough to stay on the football team. You on the other hand, aren’t really happy about your score, you did your best, or maybe you didn’t, point is, you got a 20. Cal comes up to you asking about your score, you were hesitant to show him, but after he showed you his score of 89, you showed him your score.

“Oh, dear Friend Y/N. Not to alarm you, but that has been the lowest score I have seen yet. I apologize for your test failure.”

You look down in shame, you thought at least somebody would have done worse.

“I notice your struggles now Friend Y/N. If you are open to the idea, I could teach you what I know, like tutoring. Your problem may be that the strategies the professors here use aren’t effective for you to learn from. What do you say?”

You decide to take him up on his offer and once you begin your first session at the library. Calculester proves himself to be a great teacher, he knows how to tailor the way he teaches to match your learning style. You get through worksheets faster and actually begin learning the material. Along with potentially turning your marks around, you also begin to connect with Calculester more than you have already before! As you get him to talk about himself during your breaks, you learn about the way he also tutors Scott and how much of a struggle it was. You learned that even though he is a sentient computer, he still has so much he still needs to learn about interacting with others. You also learn a couple new plant facts!

When your next big test came up for your science class a couple months later, you went into it with a newfound confidence, an attitude completely different from your usual one. Calculester wished you luck, he was confident you would do amazingly, but deeper down, he was nervous for you. He dreaded the possibility that you come back with a terrible score again, he was scared that you would lose faith in him as a teacher and along with that, your trust; He could have sworn he was about to malfunction with how worried he was for you.

As you received your scores a week later, you instantly go to find Cal to show him your score. You try to hide the smile on your face, but you can’t as you give him your paper marked with a large 79 at the top. Relief washed over him and pulled you into a hug. He was so glad he was able to help you, both of your hard work paid off and he was glad that you had managed to achieve your goal with his help, validating his ability as a tutor. As the bell rang, you guys walked to your next class together. As you guys passed his classroom, you shouted to him as he was going to walk in.

“See you after school for our study session!”

Nervous Habit

Calculester x Reader w a bad tendency to pick at their fingers/cuticles. TW for blood mention? Reader is Gn! Pure fluff tbh, just a short drabble :]

You can’t help but pick at your hands; listening to lectures, reading, trying to solve a hard problem, tests- you were always mindlessly picking or biting at your cuticles.

Cal’s worried about you, as you’re technically causing harm to yourself and engaging in auto-cannibalism.

You try to assure him that it’s not that bad and that a lot of people monsters pick at their hands, that it’s because of your (adhd/ocd/anxiety/etc).

He’s convinced for a short bit, until one day in class he looks over and realizes you’ve completely bloodied your hands picking at them. Like. Dripping on the desk bloody.

You didn’t realize what was happening as he pulls you out of class and practically dragged you to the nurse, until of course, you looked down and saw your bloody hands. Once you were in the nurse’s office and sat on a cot, Cal began attaching bandaids to your fingers with a [:( ] displayed on his screen.

“Cal, it’s okay really- I just spaced out, I won’t die from a little bit of bleeding from my hands.”

“Your hands have [17,000] Seventeen Thousand nerve endings in just the palm. Bleeding from the hands can cause serious damage-“ [:,O ]

He gently sticks another brightly colored bandaid around one of your fingers.

“-And there’s a 2.9% chance that you contract an illness or infection from your exposed finger injuries. I would like for you to care more for your health.” [:/ ]

You sigh. There’s no use in arguing with him. He is technically right, you are causing harm to yourself, even if it’s unintentional.

“Maybe you can just hold my hands so I don’t pick at them?” (So Charming!)

His monitor changes to a [ :O ?] expression;

“It isn’t possible for me to always hold your hand, I would have to be by your side at all times.”

“I think I’d like that…” You mumble, your face growing warm.

His hands freeze around yours as his screen goes red, bright ERROR message displayed on the poor bot’s face, fans whirring.

“ERROR: FEELINGS OF ROMANCE TOO STRONG.”

Laughing, you take his metal hands in your bandaged ones and quickly lead him to the freezer to cool down. Despite your suggestion being a flirtatious joke, he seemed to hold your hands far more after that. And you truly didn’t mind.

baby boy is so so so supportive…in his own weird way. You tell him while he’s at your apartment for a study session it went a little something like this

he looks up from his book from above the rim of his glasses at you before noticing your pained expression and transferring his face into one as well before quickly shutting the book and sitting up to pay attention to you.

“What’s wrong…? You look upset.”

“Liam I realized something about myself, well more like i’ve come to grasp with something i’ve always known…”

he now looks Puzzled, what could you possible mean by that?

your eyes start to tear up and your composure breaks and you start to cry in your hands but before you can let out a genuine sob liam has wrapped his arms around you and you gasp from the sudden contact and you go to look up at him and he is smiling at you.

Why do you ask?”

“well i believe im somewhere on that spectrum you just mentioned..”

“oh my, Are you saying that you are transgender?”

“Yes i am…are you okay with that?”

“Of course! I am attracted to you romantically regardless of your biological sex, you have done that for me being that i have no Sexual reproductive parts. So of course i see no issue, what would you like me to refer to you as?”

Interested on your opinion of plants and micro organisms, if you like them as he does then surely you could collaborate!

Surely you have plenty of experience of dealing with such smaller life forms.

You might have to explain that there’s a difference between ‘dealing with’ and ‘subjugation’.

Always is in awe when you reveal some level of your Eldritch powers, even if it’s just to help water the plants in his greenhouse or assist in management of his virtual world(s).

You did help him unlock the emotion fear one time, but you both swore to never mention it again and nothing would break that promise…unless either of you was given a pigs head and two grapefruits. Those were the terms.

He’s always asking for tips on how to fit into society, but often your help just resulted in purges, mind control or somehow helping Damien set shit on fire for recreational purposes.

Despite this, Cal is always thankful and super polite to you, never even thinking about who’s the best person to ask on a subject before marching to you.

Even if that subject is stuff you have no clue about, you’ll make it up just for Cal.

It’s 4:30. School has been out for over an hour now. You’re sitting a couple feet from the edge of the pool, staring at its iridescent surface, rippling at you, mocking you with its dynamic beauty. You’re just so exhausted. Tired of feeling like you exist as a search engine, built only to see, but never to touch or to feel. “I think therefore I am.” That’s some bullshit. You aren’t sure if you even “are” any more. There’s points in the day where you dissociate so much that the audio of everything around you comes in at low fidelity and sounds like you are always just outside of the school at a dance. You can hear the music, but you’re always muffled away from the heat and the action by the cold cement wall. It feels like you’re an actor in a strange commercial where the food is glossy and perfect, but you’re not allowed to touch it for fear that you might ruin it (or ruin yourself) if you tried to put it in your mouth. Life at school feels like a cruel joke that someone wrote long before you were born. The walls around you sweat. You sweat. But you don’t actually sweat. You only condensate. You aren’t a human. You hear the clack of feet behind you and you see the faint glow of green on the shiny tiles of the pool floor. Valves hiss as Calculester sits beside you. You only came to consciousness a couple of months ago. How has he been fine like this for 2 years now?

“There’s a strange, liminal beauty in being just outside of things, you know?” he says. I try to make a positive expression, but it must not be very convincing, because all Calculester does is keep frowning and put his arm around me. “Please don’t jump into the water,” he says formally. This abrupt statement of the obvious thaws something deep inside me and I can feel my laughter function triggering without my permission. My body shakes and I scoot away from the pool. He scoots with me and pulls me in closer to him. “You know, deep inside all they are is just chemicals and minerals too, you know? Only difference is that their code frays and wears over time. You and I are forever. Endless numbers. We could dive into each other’s code for eternity and might never find the end. Isn’t that kind of beautiful in its own way? Just as beautiful as nerve endings touching and sending signals to a brain?” He sounds sad. A little desperate even. I worry that my sadness drains him. I worry he thinks that he’s not enough. Without saying a word out loud I touch the sensor on his monitor and drop a message to him over the waves. “Thank you.” is all it says. It’s not much for now, but I hope someday I can give him the beautiful eternity he hopes for.

Scott x Gn! Reader comfort Drabble

A/n: I was working on another short little story thing and I thought of this and I couldn’t help but write it XD. Scott’s one of my comfort characters and I KNOW this man would be GREAT at cheering you up or calming you down. Anyways thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy. :)

You’re laying in bed next to Scott. You’re on the side of him, with your head on his chest, and his arm around you. You could feel his chest rising and falling with each breath he took. You could feel his heart beat, and his hand massaging your side. The day had been stressful and as soon as you got home you cried, that’s the reason he came over in the first place. You knew that your problems wouldn’t go away and you would still have to face them, but in that moment, it was as if everything in the universe except for you two disappeared. As you two lay next to each other slowly drifting to sleep, you know that no matter what happens, you’ll be able to deal with it, and even if it’s seems too challenging, you’ll know you’ll get through it with Scott.

Still obviously very supportive, anyone who dares to say shit like “trans women aren’t real your just confused” or “all trans women are predators trying to get into girls bathrooms!” will get a taste of Fire and Knives (what damien named his fists) he also threatens anyone who misgenders you

Calculester

He’s around the same as damien but a lot less aggressive about it, gently corrects people in not subtle ways and always is there for you when you get a ride or transphobic comment. Plus he hacks into the persons bank account and donates to Trans rights foundations >:D

Scott

Super happy when you tell him, The first thing he does is ask if it’s okay to tell polly (you say yes ofc) and he busts into polly’s room to tell her

she is also over the moon

“OMG!!! ANOTHER GIRL, FINALLY I CAN PRACTICE MY MAKEUP SKILLS ON SOMEONE WHOS SKIN ISNT PHASEABLE!!”

then you polly and scott spend the rest of the night doing each others makeup (Scott didn’t want to feel left out so you gave him a classic guy liner look)

- Very determined to be a very good boy to make all your effort worth it, he'll be the bestest boy ever!

- Matching sweaters, he'd love to gift you a matching set of sweaters

- Scott will find a use for everything you give him, some things get hung up, some go on shelves and of it's clothes he'll wear them all the time

- his favorite toy is one you got or made for him and if it ever breaks he'll be so sad

Damien:

-Woah, this is rad! Whats the occasion?? Nothing???

- Gift him anything and he'll enjoy it, but adding to his knife and lighter collections would be very appreciated

- He'd prefer something that isn't fancy, remember hes a Prince, he could bum money off his dads for a big fancy thing but something emotionally charged from you is the best

- super careful with cards or handmade gifts, he'll be super damn sad if they get burnt up or destroyed

- His gifts back to you are usually very well meant and thought out, tailored to what he knows you like and don't like

- He's not super crafty so if he does make you something it might look-- iffy, he prefers certain mediums.... Like makeup and hair!

- If you let him he'll return the favor by giving you a makeover and doing your hair in a cool way

Calculester:

- "There is no special occasion Y/N you are mistaken" hes so stuck on holidays and events being time for gifts that he at first refuses to accept it

- Explain to him that you're giving him gifts because you love him, thats it, just because it would make him happy

- Emotions are confusing, you give gifts because you love him?

- Since he loves you he too will make you gifts too, certainly a needle felted cactus 10/10

- Cal will actually get concerned if you give him too many gifts, "Y/N you've spent $Xxx.xxx on gifts over the past six months, does this bother you? As I do not require gifts"

- baby boy baby is concerned

- if you're okay with it then hes okay with it again, he just wanted to make sure
