#But I do like Sebastian and Iron Bull

Tucked away somewhere in his parents’ Norfolk home, there is a photograph of George Russell at his first Silverstone grand prix. If Russell has his way, it will remain tucked away for ever. Rather embarrassingly for the Mercedes driver, he is wearing a Red Bull jumper in the shot.
In fairness, it was taken in 2009 and he was only 11 years old. Yet you sense a certain awkwardness when he talks about it. “When you are a kid you tend to get things you like the look of,” he says. “And I liked the look of that jumper.”
There was a lot more for Russell to like that day. His hero was Sebastian Vettel — of, er, Red Bull — and as he stood at the exit of Copse for the opening lap, he watched his favourite flash by in the lead. Vettel went on to win the race, with team-mate Mark Webber finishing second. Russell was smitten.
“That was the moment when I was like, ‘Yeah, this is what I want to do.’ The noise and the buzz was just immense,” he says.
At the time, Russell was already a junior kart racer and a regular winner, and he would carry on in that groove for the next few years. There was certainly no lack of belief. “With the naivety of a child I used to think I could do anything. I used to think I could fly to the moon,” he says.
“I was so confident. So, so confident at a young age because I was winning. I was almost arrogant, I would say. It was only when I got to 16 that I realised it was not as straightforward as I thought. There are obstacles and there are challenges.”
These things are relative. At the age of 16 Russell still won the British Formula Four championship. And while there were a few bumps on the road when racing in European events, he was still doing enough to attract a six-figure offer from BMW to drive in DTM, the German touring car championship.
“I was like, ‘Whoa, this is unbelievable,’ ” he says. “Formula One was almost put on the sideline at that point because that was so attractive. For a kid growing up in a field with a labrador, those sorts of figures had never even been heard of.”
Russell turned it down. An alternative offer from Mercedes to fund him in Formula Three kept his ambitions on track. More titles followed and in 2019 the kid who had stood saucer-eyed in wonder at Copse a decade earlier became a full-fledged F1 driver for Williams. He would spend three seasons with the Grove outfit before moving to Mercedes at the start of last year.
The change took him from the back of the grid to the front. It meant regular podium finishes and, eventually, a first race win in Brazil. It meant he was now one of a tiny elite, with all the attention that drew. But it also brought a reckoning.
Russell, 25, is a thoughtful and articulate individual. “Some changes are for better and some for worse,” he begins. “It is a bit of a strange position to be in when you find yourself in the limelight. A lot of people want to cosy up to you for the wrong reasons. It took a bit of time for me to process this.
“They weren’t necessarily friends, but people I knew well suddenly started acting differently, asking for this and asking for that. People I hadn’t heard from for a long time came out of the woodwork.
“Now I’m in this position, which is a privilege, I see people’s true colours. So I have a close-knit group of people around me and I know they are there for the right reason.”
Remember that old Volkswagen advertisement about the man who “moved into gold, just as the clever money moved out”? Russell arrived at Mercedes at a similar moment. Lewis Hamilton had just lost his drivers’ title to Max Verstappen and at the end of Russell’s first season with the team they also surrendered to Red Bull the constructors’ crown they had held for eight years.
And yet, perhaps it was not so bad to pitch up when he did. Russell played a big part in ironing out the problems of Mercedes’ 2022 car and making this year’s model more competitive. He also acknowledges that slotting in beside Hamilton could have been problematic had the team still been the most dominant in the sport.
Has it helped that Hamilton is Russell’s senior by a margin of 13 years, seven titles and 102 race wins? “I totally agree with that,” Russell says. “When you look at Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc [of Ferrari] or Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri [McLaren] these guys are trying to be the one to lead the team. They are almost fighting for that No 1 spot. With us, there is no fight because we are at different stages of our careers.
“Lewis has proven everything he has to prove. The team believes in me and believe I’ll be here for the long term. It is a very good dynamic. I would expect the dynamic to change a bit if we were fighting for championships, that’s only normal. But for now we have a good relationship and have had no real tense moments on track.”
The scale of the task facing Mercedes, and every other F1 team, can be measured by the fact that Red Bull have now won 19 of the past 20 grands prix. Their near-monopoly was interrupted only by Russell’s victory in Brazil. To all intents and purposes, this year’s titles have already been decided, but Russell still believes in his team.
“We’ve got some new things coming for the race, which will be a step in the right direction. Red Bull are still favourites, but out of all of the races so far I’d say this would be our best chance.
“As a team we are definitely going in the right direction. We’ve got clear views now and you’ve seen it already with our progress. We’re slowly reeling in Red Bull. It seems like they have taken a step backwards compared to the rest of the field.”
Regardless of what happens, Hamilton and Verstappen have already cemented their places among the all-time greats in the annals of the sport. Can Russell see himself joining them at some point? He seems ambivalent about the prospect.
“When I was a ten-year-old kid I dreamt about being world champion,” he says. “I didn’t dream of being famous.
“I got asked a question recently about what legacy I wanted to leave behind. I’m 25 years old and I hadn’t even thought about this. As a kid I didn’t think about legacy or what impact I wanted to leave, I just wanted to win.
“Maybe in five years’ time that will be something I do think about. I recognise the platform we have, but equally the more success you have the bigger your platform becomes. I need to focus on that first.”

I noticed you’ve written for Dragon Age (I need to go read those fics 👀) do you still like those games? If so, who was your favorite companions? (Romanced or not) I really loved Alistair, Merrill, and Iron Bull
Oooo boy. The Dragon Age years were fast and furious and really got me back into fic writing in a very serious way. I'm grateful for them, and grateful for the support I got from that fandom and community at a time when I dearly needed it.
I love the games. Deeply and dearly. And whatever happens with Dreadwolf, I will always love the games that came before with an unconditional heart. Are they the best games ever made? Probably not. But they're my favourite series and I don't think anything could ever unseat them.
I adore Alistair, and romance him almost every time I play Origins (sometimes a girl's just in a Zev mood, what can I say?). He's wonderfully interesting and very well voice acted courtesy of Steve Valentine.
For DA2 I have to admit I'm split. Anders and Sebastian Vael are extremely different characters and at odds with each other more often than not, but I love them both. I think it's their deep convictions that always have me coming back for more. And I definitely could have stood to write more for these two.
Playing Inquisition introduced me to my oldest long-distance friend in the world - literally - and she and I have been through hell and back together. We bonded over Blackwall, became best friends with Dorian, joined the the Chargers, and had endless adventures via a game system and controller. She was also my very first cowriter and I will forever be grateful to her for taking a chance on me.
Also I'm super not sorry that this answer ended up long and emotional, because the Dragon Age games hold an extremely dear place in my heart 🧡🧡🧡 I have so many beloved OCs for this world and so many ideas left to explore.

It feels a bit like the academy awards. Drumroll please...
Most Hits and Most Kudos: Riding the Bull (Rated M, F!Lavellan/Iron Bull)
I have written exactly three pieces of Dragon Age: Inquisition fanfiction, and this is one of them. I'm not thrilled to bits that this is my most seen and kudos'd fic because I wasn't overly enamoured with DA:I, but one of my favourite bits in it was the Iron Bull romance. I really liked how he created a safe space for the Inky with clear consent that let her just be for awhile.
Most Comments, Most Bookmarks and Most Words: In Sacred Footsteps (Rated E, F!Hawke/Anders/Fenris)
This is my... ahem... unfinished Fenhanders series. I really really like it, but it was put on pause because I felt I had written myself into a bit of a corner. I would like to get back to it and finish it sometime... I still have hope! But I am not entirely sure how that will work with me wanting to write the longer and more involved version.
Least Words: This honour is shared by quite a few fics, because the fics with least words are all double drabbles. The vast majority are gen fics. Below the cut, because there's quite a few.

Tell me any thoughts you have on your Trespasser fic?
oh gosh! i have so many thoughts about this story, so many directions i want to go in it. i want to see what a healed inbar looks like, how that gap of time between dai and trespasser allowed her to really grow in the ways that chasing corypheus did not allow. any time you write a relationship of any degree between the inquisitor and dorian, you have that bittersweet separation, and with the added element of iron bull in the middle of them, there is a lot of me that is very eager to get back to their post-coryphipiss lives. i want to see what the future looks like for them, and how the events of trespasser both usher that in, and interrupt it. i toyed around with a lot of very self-indulgent ideas regards their chosen family situation, and i am still undecided as to whether or not i actually want to do any of it. time will tell, and there is no need to hurry on it.
i also want to see if i can fit in an actual redemption arc, or even a moment of it, for sebastian, since he has his fingers in so much of inbar's story. it feels unfair to him, as a character i truly love digging into the nooks and crannies (good and bad) of, to leave him hanging to wallow in his (very large) mistakes, and i want to really let that peripetea following hawke's (alleged) death have its way with him. he said a lot of terrible things following adamant, and i can't let that be the last word on it.
and then there's anders. oh, anders, where are you? how are you managing? he's been so silent and absent since leaving miriei behind. even if there's no room for a proper narrative arc (and i don't want to over-stuff the story) i want to set up a third act for him in my universe. i touched on it a bit in a warden's penitence, but it was an in and out sort of thing because i didn't want to make the story about him.
what will probably happen is there will be another story that ties up all of the mess that da2 made in my story canon, because digging into sebastian and anders re: hawke is honestly too much to ask of one story that, honestly, is not about them. mirei deserves better.
i very very much do intend to go back and write this eventually, because i had so ding dang much fun writing inbar's story, especially the relationship(s) between inbar, iron bull, and dorian, and i love them all so much. i genuinely miss the, because i am pretty gosh darned proud of how i wrote their little triangle. it's the healthiest relationship i've ever written lol. but, two things have to happen before i can do this, the first is replay trespasser, which requires me to finally switch all my ea games over to their steam-clone, and i have to stop being mad at bioware so i can get in a dragon age headspace again.

I missed this whole dang DA2 Height Saga, huh? Anyways, DA protag(s) + companions height chart, please? What's your HC for these guys?
AGHSJSJ i actually didnt answer a lot of the asks i loved reading all of them but i do not want to be sat here all day batting height opinions back and forth. anyway i am terrible for exact heights but here is my height order
shale -> sten (-> my cousland) -> loghain -> leliana -> alistair -> wynne -> morrigan (-> my tabris) (-> my surana) -> zevran (-> my mahariel) -> oghren (-> my brosca) (-> my aeducan)
anders -> kristoff/justice -> nathaniel -> velanna (-> my andras) -> oghren -> sigrun
anders -> sebastian -> isabela -> carver (-> my hawke) -> aveline -> bethany -> fenris -> merrill -> varric
iron bull (-> my adaar) -> leliana -> cullen (-> my trevelyan) -> blackwall -> cole -> dorian -> cassandra -> solas (-> my lavellan) -> vivienne sans horns -> josephine -> sera -> varric (-> my cadash)
so ultimately! shale -> iron bull (-> my adaar) -> sten (-> my cousland) -> loghain -> anders -> leliana -> cullen -> sebastian (-> my trevelyan) -> blackwall -> isabela -> alistair -> cole -> nathaniel -> dorian -> cassandra -> carver (-> my hawke) -> aveline -> solas -> wynne -> bethany -> fenris (-> my lavellan) -> vivienne sans horns -> josephine -> morrigan (-> my tabris) -> velanna (-> my surana) -> sera (-> my andras) -> zevran (-> my mahariel) -> merrill -> varric -> oghren (-> my cadash) (-> my brosca) -> sigrun (-> my aeducan) or something like that, this is naturally rougher and i can move people around like four places without thinking too much abt it

7, 10 & 21 for the choose violence thingie 👀 whatever fandom you want!
7.) what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
I'll do a second one of these. Varric Tethras. Surprise! Bioware gives you a designated best friend who is a yes man and the woder fandom loves him cuz they love having their ass kissed! Oh man you would think Varric was the maker the way people worship him. But he's a prick to Sebastian AND Blackwall for a bit because they are Noble and good men and only likes Blackwall when he finds out he murdered a family. On top of that he's another of Bioware's "I hate my ethnic/oppressed group" and he's annoying about it. This fucker when you go into a cave that you can see the back of from about 90 meters away from it "you know, not every dwarf loves caves..." oh sorry Varric didn't know we were walking into Kal shirok here in the hinterlands when the sun is out.
But all you ever see is "Varric is the best I would romance him so much cuz no one will ever compare to him. My Hawke and Inquisitor would fight over him cuz he's just so hot and better than every other LI" god it makes me roll my eyes at how people fawn over yes men characters with no backbone and who's main trait is "will agree with you". Sebastians a better archer, Sigrun is a better dwarf, and I'm hoping someone else can get a spotlight in DA:D cuz I'm tired of Varric.
He's fine in combat in DAI and I do like his banter with Vivienne!
10.)worst part of fanon?
Ignoring the facts about a character to recharacterize them. Like Garrus and the "He's Turian Batman!" No he isnt. He was a trigger happy ex cop who wanted to just kill people and call it justice. Also projecting our real world issues onto fictional characters or plot elements. Like when people started saying Mage Lives Matter in the DA fandom because of Black Lives Matter IRL. That shit sucked.
21.) Part of canon you think is overhyped?
Solas has two things. His "I was wrong about you " convo for Adaar and Solas saying he's going to destroy the world.
Everyone says Solas is racist to Qunari/Tal Vashoth butnhe doesn't say anything The Iron Bull or Sten say about them. Bull and Sten say that the Qun keeps their davage nature in check, so why is Solas saying that after being AWAKE for 1 year that from what he heard Qunari are savage creatures? Theur own doctrine says it so why wouldn't he believe them until he meets a wise and noble Adaar that even THE IRON BULL will say is what Tal Vashoth should be if they don't want the Qun?
Also Solas as the main villain. Trespasser PLAINLY stated that Solas had a protagonist arc and his antagonists were the Evanuris, he eve says undoing the veil would release the Evanuris once more but he'll have to deal with them. Solas undoing the veil will most likely not do what he thinks because the world isn't dependent on Magic like it was when he sealed the fade. He won't be the main villain, the Evanuris will be. If anything, Solas could end up as a companion to the next Protagonist as we help him defeat the other Evanuris!

the more i think about merrill and sebastian, the more intense i'm feeling about them too, because i feel like sebastian has been abused by the chantry to some extent. i get the sense that a lot of his stances are genuine--he strongly debates whether or not to stay with the chantry and does walk away from it once no matter what, twice if hawke convinces him to retake his position in starkhaven, so i don't feel like he's been entirely twisted up and blinded, at least on the matter of religion and mages, he seems to really believe.
but. i do think the chantry (and his parents) messed up his understanding of morals, and what is good vs bad, and why. sebastian slept around in his youth and wasted money on mind-altering substances, presumably, and his parents considered it disgraceful, so they sent him to the chantry against his will to "straighten him out". (this post will focus on sex, mainly, but i could so go on about his broken moral compass re: mage rights and how he responds to anders at the end of the game, how he instantly flips into a much more harmful portrayal of justice/vengeance than he thinks anders is, imo. anyway)
now, the kinds of things he got up to could be harmful in excess or if not doing it safely, yes, but of course having sex or using substances isn't inherently wrong / immoral, you just need to be careful and understand your boundaries and all that. maybe he did need someone to tell him to slow down, be safer, and evaluate his needs / if these things were really good for him or if he was using them as an escape or something like that, but he didn't need to be told he was a disgrace or that it was wrong to do x and y. classic case of condemning the action instead of treating the root cause of them, which likely is that he felt sidelined as the youngest, "less important" of his siblings, while still feeling the pressure of being royalty. he probably didn't get the kind of nurturing he needed. probably didn't get the opportunity for positive, genuine relationships.
and then in the chantry, he's having that idea of "disgrace" solidified. he's meant to be chaste. he's meant to set aside all personal pleasure. he has to let go of such "base" things to dedicate himself to the maker & andraste. i don't know for sure if all chantry clergy are supposed to be celibate because it's the case for sebastian, while it seems very much not the case in dai (at the very least, a sister has sex with the iron bull lol and i feel like it's mentioned elsewhere but i cant remember off the top of my head). regardless, sebastian has had his sexual desires repressed.
enter merrill, as i've been writing her lately. sex knowledgeable and sex-positive, and so down to casually enjoy others without it being a big deal. sebastian noticing that she's having sex with half their friends at this point, maybe more, and his internalized sex-negativity making him think badly of her. she's "deviant", and "frivolous" like he once was. not only could she give him the fucking he really needs, she could unravel the knots his family and the chantry tied in his mind. she could remind him that sex can be good and fun, and there's nothing wrong with that. sex can be beautiful, and deeply satisfying, and he is not dirty and disgraceful for liking sex.
she could fix him

Welcome to my blog! Here you'll find OFMD brainrot (particularly Izzy/Ed/Stede) and Dragon Age ramblings.
For context, some of my Dragon Age OC’s. From right to left, top to bottom, we have:
Tumblr media
Ambeth Lavellan: an elven warrior, Ambeth has no interest in being the inquisitor. Unfortunately, her protestations have fallen mostly on deaf ears. My only inquisitor who is also a mother, Ambeth is keenly aware of her son back with her clan. Her romance with Cullen was a slow, soft thing.
Alexandria ‘Alex’ Hawke: A soft, diplomatic girl who holds the world on her shoulders and always sees the good in those around her, Alex Hawke has a group of friends that would kill to keep her safe. She is immensely in love with her wife Merrill.
Merripen Lavellan: Merripen Lavellan was born a twin, and when his brother died from the plague, he devoted his life to Falon’Din, Elven God of Death and Fortune. Now, he lives a supposedly quiet life with The Iron Bull, although rumours abound about his close contact with his previous Spy Master and one Dorian Pavus, and what plans he may have for the future.
Aiden Hawke: my canon Hawke, my beloved, my angry boi, my favourite. Full of rage, Aiden started ripping the world apart when his sister was taken to the circle. He fell in love with Anders because of the work Anders was doing for the mage underground, a course he violently believed in. He was very, very tragic and very, very angry and I loved him with my whole soul.
DeLila Cadash: my canon inquisitor, my beloved, my girl, my favourite. The youngest of six, a warrior and a closet nerd, DeLila found a family in the inquisition she never thought she'd have. She misses them all dearly, but loves running rooftops with her wife, infamous Red Jenny Sera (extra pics and info: x x x)
Queen Lillian Hawke: A power hungry blood mage, Lillian finds it mildly funny that her friends, even her biographer, all also kinda hate her. Her relationship with Sebastian led to her claiming the title of Queen of Starkhaven, along with Champion of Kirkwall and Provisional Viscount of Kirkwall.
Aban Adaar: my sweet, shy mage qunari who loves gardening and his wife Lady Josephine Montilyet (extra pics and info: x x x x)
Jenny Hawke: Crazy, sacrastic, and a little obsessed with gold coin (if prone to over-spending with them), Jenny deflected all her problems with sarcasm. She also had a weakness for pirate queens.
Rust Cadash-Rainier: whatever her original name was, it's been lost to time. Now she goes by Rust and is learning to cook eggs with her husband (who, rumour has it, may once have been a war criminal, if one can believe the kindly man who spends his free time making toys for children is the same Thom Rainier that Orlais tried to execute), and also fighting to put a stop to Solas's stupidity (fightings in her bones, she could never put down her daggers) (extra pics and info x x x)
Thank you to everyone who puts up with me talking about these idiots, and the many more I'm no doubt likely to create and talk about in the future - my asks are always open if you have any questions about any of them, from which songs I think fit them to their backstories to the choices they made in game x
Some links to other things you may be interested in (because tumblr only lets you pin one post at a time):

Dragon sage Romance Opinions
Alistair | I am not immune to cliches. The stupid rose got to me so yeah I romanced him. I only romance him as Amell so he gets the one playthrough sorry my dude
Leliana | what’s hotter than one bisexual? Two bisexuals! Anyways I love her I think her romance is well written and I love seeing her in inquisition
Morrigan | I’m very sorry but I’ve never romanced her because I’ve never played a male warden. I feel for her because people seem to forget her feelings on the dark ritual and the whole thing with her mom. I also like seeing her in inquisition for the most part.
Zevran | he’s sent to kill you of course I love him my current playthrough of the series I’m romancing him and I’m reminded of how much I love him. Also the fact that I can romance him as a dwarf? Thank you!
Anders | my mutuals love anders. I do not.
Fenris | no. I get the appeal but no.
Merrill | I romanced her once. It’s a very nice but bittersweet romance because of the whole her being dalish and hawke being human and feeling like she’s betraying her clan for pursuing this romance. I love her but all my Hawkes just end up being friends with her.
Sebastian | look I know not everyone likes him but I do and I’ve done one playthrough where I romance him also he’s definitely bisexual I don’t care what bioware says
Isabela | she is the love of my life she is my moon my sun the light that shines in the dark she’s done nothing wrong I would die for her I would kill for her fuck everyone else she is the best romance of all time I just want to see her again bioware stop whitewashing her and ahhhhh
Tumblr media
Blackwall | I have no problems with women lying to me but a man lying to me??? No.
Cassandra | written for straight men would probably call me a slur
Cullen | written for straight women would call me a slur behind my back leliana should be able to kill him I played inquisition first and romanced him then went back to play origins and felt disgusted
Dorian | the one good gay romance in bioware
Iron Bull | love him I’ve wanted to romance a quanri and bioware delivered suffers from fandom brain rot though like this man is more than kinky sex he’s a complex character who depending on player choice can become a loyal friend or betray you
Josephine | deserves a fairytale romance and gets it for the most part bioware let me marry her please!!!
Sera | well I like her but romancing her as an elf is oh boy
Solas | see Blackwall

Before she was revealed, the fandom had nicknamed Josie "scribbles" because in the few promos she was in she always held a quill and paper. Bioware admitted that they liked that name better but too was too late to change it at that point. So Josie gets called "ruffles" by Varric which is just stupid.
I actually think some of his nicknames are supposed to be insulting. He calls Blackwall "hero" which seems to be a dig at how Blackwall was presenting himself before the reveal. He calls Cullen "curly" which seems to be a dig at the fact that Cullen is supposedly so busy with his work, yet somehow finds the time to style his hair.
To be fair Ruffles isn't bad, Josie's clothing does have a bit of a ruffly vibe. Scribbles would've been better, but Ruffles is alright. But I don't think Varric's nicknames are ever meant to be insulting, with the possible exception of Carver (Junior or Little Hawke when he hates being in Hawke's shadow) and Sebastian (Choir Boy, and Varric canonically does not like the guy one bit). Vivienne's sucks (Iron Lady), but Thatcher doesn't exist in Thedas so that's the writers being dicks, not Varric. Meanwhile Varric and Blackwall actually get on quite well, they talk about jousting like two modern dads talking football. Varric finds Blackwall a bit boring pre-reveal, but that's it. Also, he has no idea who Blackwall really is when he starts calling him Hero. Or at least not necessarily, there are multiple banters that don't require Blackwall's personal quest being completed to trigger where Varric calls Blackwall Hero but the order the banters trigger in isn't exactly set even if they do trigger so you're not guaranteed to get any of them before the reveal. So I don't think it's meant to be a dig. And Bioware's way too busy licking Cullen's boots to have their favourite centrist mouthpiece mock him about supposedly being suuuper busy but still having time to meticulously style his hair, but I like the idea of anyone mocking Cullen so I'm gonna accept that headcanon.
I don't think any of Varric's nicknames are meant to be actively unkind, though. There are some that are ironic (he calls Bull Tiny) and some of them are lazy (Elf, Rivaini and Blondie in DA2, and in DAI he calls Cass Seeker (her job) and Leliana Nightingale (her title, although maybe he's just too scared of her to give her a nickname)), and some of them might hit on sore points (I feel like a Quiz who is not happy about the Anchor would not like being called Handy), but I don't think any of them are intentionally insulting.

Party 1 for all OC's it applies for!
[ask game]
Thank you! :)
Party/1. Who does their preferred party consist of?
Gonna say right at the start, my parties are usually a mix of who my MC would take and who i need for a balanced party lol (either to Not Die or to do class-specific things)
Neira: Alistair, Leliana, Shale/Dog Since they're primarily fighting Darkspawn, she prefers to have people on the front lines who aren't/are less at risk of contracting the Blight. Ali is a co-warden and her closest friend, Ssynec was technically a Warden too, idk if golems can get blighted, and Leli seemed to have an odd resistance to the taint
Kala: Alistair, Zevran, Wynne Zev is the one person in the party she trusts and gets along with almost immediately, Ali is a fellow Warden (and later, friend), and Wynne cos i sucked at playing 2H warrior in DAO and i needed a healer hfskfhd. Otherwise it would be Sten or Shale probably
Liam: Varric, Fenris, Bethany/Anders Varric is his bestie, as is Fenris, and he and Bethany stuck together after coming to Kirkwall. Later Anders took her spot; ideally it would have been Isabela but i already had two squishy rogues in the party, and Varric was non-negotiable cos he and Liam imprinted on each other like baby ducks (and i liked having him around)
Lilian: Isabela, Merrill, Sebastian/Varric/Fenris She, Isabela, and Merrill were the local girlboss squad, so they have to come, obviously. The 3rd person rotated pretty frequently cos Seb, Varric, and Fenris were all people she liked hanging out with, and Lilian was tanky enough that i didn't need a warrior
June: Dorian, Sera, Iron Bull Hers switched a bunch as well, but those three ended up being her go-to party because they are the ultimate squad of chaos gays
Ari: Cole, Vivienne, Blackwall Cole cos of a combo of 'i should keep an eye on him' and 'he should experience the world', Viv cos they're buddies and she's badass, Blackwall initially cos he was suspicious of him and then later cos he respected and trusted his skills

What's your fav romance in each game? For me it's Zevran for da:o Fenris for da2 and Cullefor da:i
Hi! Sorry, I forgot to respond to this until rn.😅 All good choices!!! :D If you care to share, any particular reasons behind those or things you really love about them? ^^
Lemme see... So tbh, I haven't done every romance for every game (actually I haven't done a DAO romance at all) but I can say the ones I think I would like! In DAO my Warden (m!Couslands) actually romanced Ser Gilmore via a mod (though I only used the mod as inspiration instead of word for word fact for his canon). And my other Warden romanced Tamlen (headcanon), and my other Warden has a thing for Shale... yeah, no actual romances completed yet😆 However, next time I play a new character I think I'd like to maybe try out Zevran (with m!warden) or Leliana (with f!warden)? 🤔 I've only done Anders's romance in DA2 so far, but I haven't seen any others (except Sebastian's but I didn't care about it, it was barely even a romance). I am pretty certain that nothing in any game will ever beat Anders's romance for me, but I'd like to check out Merrill's sometime for fun! I do like Fenris, but I leave him to my friend's Hawke with our twin!Hawke AU :) And for DAI... I am struggling to answer that? I have only romanced Cullen (for my canon playthrough), Blackwall, and Iron Bull so far. I thought all of them were okay! I liked Blackwall the best as a character and I loved his story, but I wasn't that attached to the inquisitor that romanced him, sadly, which impacted it a bit. I liked Cullen's romance and I think he went well with my character, though because of some of the writing I had to take parts of his character/his romance with a heavy dose of HC. Next I will be playing Cassandra and, as she's my favorite DAI character and I've got an interesting roleplay idea in mind, I am hoping that one will become my favorite! 🤞🏾But as of now it is hard to choose a favorite, per se. I also want to play Josephine's :)

Dragon Age Playthrough Generator
I recently decided to do a new playthrough of the Dragon Age series, but I didn't want to just play the same way I always do. So I decided to let the dice decide for me.
The results turned out interesting enough that I decided to create a Google Doc to help other people set up randomized playthroughs for themselves.
Basically, if you want to roll dice to determine what your playthrough will look like (gender, race, class, specializations, romance, party, decisions, etc.), then feel free to check out my document, and go nuts.
The Google Doc can be found here.
If you want to see my results, look under the read more. Otherwise, have fun!
Quick Example/My First Results
Warden: Female, Dalish Elf, Warrior (Weapon and Shield), Champion/Berserker/Spirit Warrior specializations, Trap-making skill, Alistair romance Main Party: Morrigan/Zevran/Wynne, Nathaniel/Sigrun/Velanna Main Decisions: Sided with the templars, Isolde sacrificed herself, Defiled the ashes, Cured the werewolves, Harrowmont rules Orzammar, Caridin destroyed the anvil, Killed Loghain, Anora and Alistair rule jointly, Agreed to the Dark Ritual, Saved Vigil's Keep, Spared the Architect
Hawke: Female, Aggressive, Mage (Elemental/Entropy), Spirit Healer specialization, Anders romance Main Party: Fenris/Sebastian/Isabela Main Decisions: Dueled the Arishok, Sided with the templars, Executed Anders
Inquisitor: Female, Qunari, Mage (Storm), Rift Mage specialization, Sera romance Main Party: Iron Bull/Varric/Cassandra Main Decisions: Conscripted the templars, Stroud left in the Fade, Allied with the Wardens, Celene rules alone, Inquisitor drank from the Well, Leliana becomes Divine, Disbanded the Inquisition, Swore to stop Solas
I ended up with a pro-templar run, pretty much all the way through. I also ended up with two romances I've never done (Anders and Sera) and one that I don't usually go for (Alistair).
The Warden and Hawke are going to have really bad romantic lives, by the looks of it (Alistair gets hooked up with Anora, and Hawke kills Anders). At least the Inquisitor should be okay.
Keeping Wynne onside will be tricky. I'll have to do the Redcliffe/Sacred Ashes quests before Broken Circle, or else she'll leave my party, and I can't have that.

Are there any LIs you never romanced in the DA franchise? If so why?
Also does any of your OC has a unrequited crush on a character?
Oh there are plenty @queer-amann, like a shocking amount considering how many times I have played these games. I am adding a 3rd option to this because there are quite a few that I have just... failed.
Never romanced:
Origins~
Alistair- I couldn't really tell you why except that maybe it is because I had already seen the romance? My roommate, and best friend, played the games first while I watched her. She is a strong Alistair-mancer and so I don't need to see it again? If that makes sense. Overall, I think his romance is cute, but boring.
DA2~
Fenris- I like his character arc. I think it is really interesting. I am very pro-mage though, so we clash on opinions a lot.
Inquisition~
Sera- I have watched her romance on Youtube to see how it was. It was cute, but she annoys the shit out of me. I couldn't do it.
Blackwall- I can't get behind romancing someone who's entire identity is based on a lie. I also clash opinions with him.
Josie- Another one that is too fairytale. Much like Alistair, I find it boring. Not enough at stake. I like my people slightly insane.
Cullen- I have only played as a female one time and that was to play a Solas romance so I could see what other people were talking about. My roommate has romanced Cullen before. The entire thing is cute, but not for me. I probably would be more open to romancing him if the bisexual coding had been left in. I mean he hit on my Inquisitor? or maybe I misread his intentions, idk.
Failed Romances:
Solas- I got bored. Not gonna lie, I cannot stand Solas so that is probably why we didnt work out.
The Iron Bull- I was having issues getting him into the romance phase. Eventually I gave up and went after Dorian again before abandoning this playthrough.
Zevran- I honestly just wanted to sleep with him to see what he said. I didn't take it further than that.
Leliana- She got super clingy in Origins which skeeved me out. I backed away slowly on this one.
Isabela- I was romancing her, but then forgot to get her approval high enough and she left after Act 2. Whoops.
Sebastian- I hated playing as a female Hawke. The animations for her walk was way to feminine and it drove me insane.
(Edit: forgot a failed romance)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for unrequited crushes, the only one who comes to mind is Garrett. Garrett Hawke has a huge crush on Cullen and wants to destroy him. He wants him and Anders to let him "Know why mages are feared" if you catch my drift.
(Send me an ask to distract me!)

Minerva and Blackwall (I'd love to be a fly on the wall for watching Fenris and Seb tbh)???? Keir and Josie/Bull???? Op, you can't just say that and leave it there, I need to know the details (Nina is understandable, Isabela and Leliana are 👌)
i say minerva and blackwall not because i have invested a particularly huge amount of thought into minerva/blackwall out of nowhere but because every other dai love interest is simply ruled out. (amusingly, this is also why minerva originally romanced zevran in the first place—she simply would not go for any of the rest of them, so zevran it was.) cullen is out. josie is too nice so she’s out. solas is too condescending so he’s out. iron bull’s ahem interests would not be her thing at all so he’s out. dorian and cassandra don’t romance women so they’re out. baby sera was in the same orphanage as nine-year-old minerva which while i guess not technically bad or anything is the only way i’ve ever thought about their relationship and now romance feels weird. also i just don’t think the dynamic would be right at all. so she’s out. thus: minerva/blackwall!
i don’t know a whole lot about his romance but he has that whole deification thing going on and i’m not going to lie minerva could be into that. his mage rights opinions are good. i’m not sure of the full details of blackwall’s backstory and how it comes into dai but i could see it bringing up similar themes to minerva’s complicated past and relationship w guilt
minerva/fenris is so much because minerva is the daughter of freed tevinter slaves but she’s also an active blood mage with a fair ambitious streak so there’s like. there’s a LOT happening here. a bit of a tightrope walk of a dynamic but i can’t deny she would be into him and she could make him laugh. as for minerva/sebastian, again absolute insanity, and i’m not sure she would go for it because of the whole chantry thing, but if she DID do her flirt-just-to-see-what-happens thing and she’s intrigued just as much by flustering him as the idea of having the ear of a prince and then she takes a step too far and gets invested... rivalmance chaos. Would End Bad
keir/josie seems pretty out there on the face of it but honestly he’s very drawn to people who are kinder than him, who are more talkative than him, who are passionate abt what they do, who care a lot abt their family. i could see it. i think the uh beauty and the beast dichotomy of ambassador and reaver would be fun and totally bring out a bunch of the interesting questions abt violence vs non-violence that josie’s writing plays with. the iron bull was just the only other one i didn’t write off—i thought abt dorian briefly but ultimately i don’t think they’d get on—so there’s not a lot of thought behind that really... again i don’t really have a read on bull’s romance i’m just kind of leaving that door open

Can I hear a little about your OCs? I tried to search about them in your blog but I found it kinda hard to find their lore, do you mind telling me a bit about them?
I don't mind at all! I've been extensively examining and reworking my OCs so I can get back into writing for them. Here's a list and short description for them!
These are the OCs currently in my canons for each series. Any others I come up with tend to be in alternate versions.
Dragon Age
Morgan Walker: Ser Morgan the Mysterious, Morgan is the Hero of Ferelden and slayer of the Archdemon. He is also from our world, having hopped through other worlds before landing in Thedas and anchoring there. He had a son with Morrigan before they amicably separated and Morgan fell for Cullen. Morgan is nurturing and compassionate, but also has a sarcastic side, and enjoys goofing around. - Faceclaim: Sebastian Stan
Freyr Surana: King-Consort Freyr is an elf-blooded mage from the Anderfels living in Kinloch Hold and escaped with Jowan. He fell in love with Alistair over the course of their journey and married him. Studious and diligent, Freyr is also deeply kind and loving, and his purity of heart helped keep the group's spirits up. - Faceclaim: Tom Busson
Cas Shepard: Cassander Shepard was once a powerful biotic and Commander of the Alliance Systems. However, at the end of the Reaper War, he and Morgan traveled to the Crucible and due to their powers, ended up crashing into Thedas. Snarky and cocky, but well-meaning at heart, Cas doesn't have it in him to be mean to anyone who doesn't deserve it. Eventually joins the Inquisition and falls for The Iron Bull - Faceclaim: Chris Evans
Havi Amell: A powerful mage from Kinloch Hold, Havi treats Freyr and Alistair like little brothers and cares for them deeply. He is protective and ruthless in the desire to keep them safe. He also quickly learns martial combat to supplement his skills. He is appointed Teyrn of Gwaren, though spends more time with Alistair and Freyr. - Faceclaim: Jorge Cobian
Mila Cooper: A librarian from our world, Mila is a pacifist and stellar potioneer. Her foreknowledge of events helped her to greatly assist the Kirkwall gang, though she was unable to stop Anders. She works as Varric's editor, and thus deals with all his businesses and secret informants. She is energetic and knowledgable, though can be indecisive. She fell in love with Fenris, and is pregnant by Inquisition. - Faceclaim: Britanny Snow
Cal Hawke: The Champion of Kirkwall, Cal is deeply protective of his family. Though he never wished to be a hero, he took on the mantle, and became Viscount for a brief while. He loves Varric, and is a gentle soul at heart, kind and honest. Though he can be pretty lazy and unmotivated. Does get along with his brother, Carver. - Faceclaim: Henry Cavill
Ava Hawke: Ava is a mage, just like her father, and is far more ruthless. She will do whatever she must to protect her family, and is a powerful blood mage. Despite this, she has fallen for Sebastian and become the Witch-Queen of Starkhaven, with the respect of the former Arishok. Desires the power to keep her siblings safe. - Faceclaim: Katie McGrath
Tash Adaar: A young Qunari child, Tash has been a mage from a young age, and is exceedingly powerful. Personable and cheery, though suffering from a deep-seated fear of abandonment, Tash becomes known as the Child of Andraste and then the Inquisitor, and uses this to his political advantage, proving to have a cunning beyond his years.
Vylandin Mithra: Vylandin hails from a mixed Avvar-Dalish clan in the Frostback Mountains, and is of immense stature, while also using his magic to bolster his physical capabilities. He comes to Haven and is appointed the Dalish Advisor to the Inquisition, and serves as liaison to other clans and non-Andrastian allies. He saves Josephine from attack, and the two ambassadors fall for each other from a place of mutual respect. Vylandin has a fondness for terrible jokes. - Faceclaim: Brock O'Hurn
Jack Theirin: The adopted son of Alistair and Freyr, Jack was born as the son of a royal guard. Upon his death, the two Kings adopted the young lad and made him their heir. They raised him as best they could, the lad having latent magical talent, and he became a princely young man of great moral fiber. He ran from home to help the Inquisition, becoming the personal honor guard of Tash. - Faceclaim: Luke Eisner
Gawain Trevelyan: In Ostwick, when the Mage-Templar war broke out, the residents of the Ostwick Circle refused to fight each other. The Ostwickers fought off bands of rebel mages and roving Templars alike, and soon Gawain Trevelyan, third son of a noble house, came to represent them. This group of Templars and mages coexisted and were invited to the Conclave as a prime example of peace. By a stroke of luck, they were late and missed the explosion. Finds himself romancing Blackwall. Gawain is an academic, but a powerful speaker and leader, and the Justinia Delegation, as they became known, is a powerful ally to the Inquisition. - Faceclaim: Jens de Fries.
Other
Jesse Malkin: A shy and stoic individual, Jesse, in any universe, shines with his intelligence, which is often underestimated due to his physique and handsome appearance. - Faceclaim: Chris Hemsworth
Mordred Wiseman: Intelligent and slightly hedonistic, Mordred, in any universe he appears, is highly skilled with people and friendly, though he can be selfish as well. - Faceclaim: Charlie Gillespie
Xander Holbrook: Xander is the classic example of a knight, honorable and firm. Though he can also be pretty judgemental. In any universe he appears, he is protective, though slightly sarcastic and aggressive. - Faceclaim: Greg Rogstad
Mass Effect
Orion Shepard - The paragon of justice, Orion and his cousin Cassander shared the main bulk of credit for the triumph against the Reapers. Orion, the first human Spectre, became a symbol of truth and honor, and carefully promoted diplomacy wherever possible. Engaged in a poly relationship with Kadan and Garrus. - Faceclaim: Michael Yerger
Ellis Walker - Morgan's father, the two traveled forward in time to the Mass Effect universe, manifesting strange powers. Ellis had traveled between worlds before, but repressed those memories due to abuse from Morgan's mother. With a crippled self-esteem and high anxiety, Ellis did his best to keep his son safe, but nearing the end of the Reaper War, Ellis stayed with his new lover, Steve Cortez, and tragically had no idea what happened to his son Morgan. - Faceclaim: Misha Collins
