hey speaking of aerospace companies. boeing employees in st louis threatened to strike and boeing finally caved into giving a union contract that actually pays them more appropriate raises for the work they do which is building fucking million dollar aerospace parts so just a reminder that unions and strikes DO work.

I'm sick of being called a "consumer."
There's a scene in the beginning of It where the clown keeps trying to convince the boy to take the paper boat from him. When the boy takes the bait he gets grabbed. I'm that kid and I have no choice but to take the dumb paper boat from these clown ass companies who call me a "consumer." The word 'consumer' sounds like I'm eating their product. I'm using it up all at once the way a fire consumes something. They only need me to take it. They don't care about building a relationship with me as a customer. They don't take pride in providing a product worth buying because the product's quality does not reflect on any one person's work ethic or reputation. It's ok if people hate a company with a revolving door of employees. A CEO can always get hired someplace else. If people don't want to do business with a company the company might find ways around that. Oh you don't want to shop for your groceries at the only grocery store in your food desert? Lol. You don't want to ride in a Boeing plane and you even picked out your flight to avoid one? The airline can just switch planes and they've likely overbooked the flight anyway so it would honestly be more convenient for them if you didn't want to use that ticket you've already paid for. Cable and internet providers will make deals with apartment complexes for exclusivity. You bought tools from Sears because of the lifetime warranty on what your dad told you was a quality brand but they moved manufacturing to China with cheap parts years ago and you will be getting that same ratchet replaced over and over with ratchets that are really just the refurbished ones brought in broken from other customers. I can't opt out of the economy. I don't really go anywhere or do anything. I stay home and draw on outdated software with old equipment and listen to Youtube video essays and read webcomics and try to learn languages with freely available tools. I like paying creators directly when I like their work. But even then, I can't opt out of dealing with puritanical payment processors or social media companies that let AI scrapers ravage my work and the work of all the creators I adore before we even get a we-totally-promise-not-to toggle. We're out here getting eaten alive by a system that has stopped shaming us for "killing" industries that priced us out because they found new ways to exploit us.
We're not the consumers, you fuckers are.

have you seen any breakdown of the political situation on New Rho (in New Rho? is the rest of the planet also populated? I think at one point someone says "down in Ur" but maybe there is an application of 2-dimensional direction terms to 3d space I havent yet thought of). Like who do they mean by militia, who is the government (who is the police?), is there any official house presence, what is the status of the barracks, who manned the spaceport, what power does BoE hold and how are they viewed in the population (Hot Sauce denounces them but who is her faction-that Pyrrha saw her with-then?) and do they know how splintered and farspread it is? what is the siege the blurb is speaking of, just the imperial emissaries showing up?
Also assuming the BoE wings are all named after different planetary settlements which seem in turn to be named after cities in the ancient near east (ur, merv, ctesiphon), why isnt new rho? but i might be misinterpreting this.
Also where does the Empire want non-House humanity to end up? They seem to be turning planets left and right with no endgoal. And how many settled planets might there be?
Sorry I'm dumping this all at you, I havent seen any worldbuilding discussion here on tumblr at all really so maybe you can redirect me somewhere.
Thankies, keep up the good work (posting)
I HAVE seen posts about the political situation on New Rho including analysis posts that were very interesting and I have utterly failed to tag them appropriately, I am sorry -- if anyone who sees this has links to that meta pls add on/reply to help anon!
But to cover the rest of your points:
What is Ur?
Ur is mentioned twice that i can find, in ch 16: Ianthe says that the end has come to the "rebels of Ur", and a person in the crowd says "Ur is fighting".
EDIT: big thank you to @eskildit in replies: "There are four total references to Ur- Corona also says that Judith is in the Ur facility and Kiriona says that the 6th house is "parked outside the Ur system". Could be that Ur is the planet New Rho is located on. While we refer the nine houses as planets, canonically the houses are actually "installations" on each planet with quite small populations. New Rho alone, which is specifically stated to be just one city on a resettled planet, is 3x the size of the 6th house"
It may have been mentioned more times, but Kindle search is giving me the 2,320 times the letters "ur" were used next to each other so I'm ngl I cannot sift through that. Rather than being a city, though, I actually am assuming that Ur is another planet entirely! This is due to multi-planet SciFi in general treating entire planets like countries or even big cities. Like…. planets are huge. There are thousands of different cultures on a planet, but in SciFi planets are often like. One Big City. One Big Country, if you have a particularly ambitious worldbuilder. See: Star Wars, the Nine Houses themselves, etc. not saying that Ur cannot be on New Rho, just that I don't think it is because this is multi-planet Sci Fi.
The militia/civic government?
In chapter 6 a distinction is made between "the militia and the old civic govnerment". Following that, I think the civic government was probably installed by the Houses, as a ruling party that is friendly to them/House interests. I think the militia is a non-unified population of hired guns, that probably revolted at some point priot to the story. It does seem like at least some section of the militia is in power in most of the city, but I do not think there is one coherent government at the moment
Official house presence?
Yes, because there are official cohort barracks. I don't think they have much political leverage by the time NtN rolls around, though
Barrack status?
Under siege due to the people of New Rho hating them/political instability/possible militia revolt, doing badly otherwise because any and all necromancers are suffering from Blue Madness/RB proximity, as seen in ch 20 when Ianthe mentioned some of them were so poorly she had to put them down.
Space port?
I am assuming the civic government/House was originally in charge. unsure of who is in charge during NtN
What power does BOE hold?
Unclear. It seems like BOE itself is fractionated, with a lot of animosity held between different factions, and a lot of both animosity AND collaboration between different factions of BOE, the militia, the population, and the old civic government. It is a very decentralized resistance force, despite sharing a name. BOE do not appear to BE the official government, or BE the militia, though, but I would not be surprised if some groups had ties to one or both. It seems like they have influence both socially and politically but it is unclear what that power is... some factions have some amount of power. Over some parts. But!! it seems that during the events of NtN they had more power than in the past ("best hand they were ever delt", chapter 1)
How is BOE viewed by the population?
My guess is they have mixed reviews. I think a lot of people probably rely on them for resources/protection even if they don't like or fully trust them. I think a lot of people probably see them as extremists and wish they were less extreme (the liberals, u could say). Like Hot Sauce and the gang, a lot of people probably think they aren't radical enough and wish they would resist more, harder, differently. I think a lot of people probably deeply support them, either physically by being part of BOE or by providing resources/etc, or quietly because they are afraid of retaliation by the House or civil government. A lot of the population probably has opinions about BOE versus the militia, BOE verus House, BOE versus the civic government, based on their own interests/position/power. This is a really long answer that can boil down to "idk"
What is the siege?
I think the siege is the cohort being sieged into the barracks. I am guessing there was some sort of revolt in the local government, probably related to Blue Madness weakening the cohort, and they have pushed the cohort into the barracks. , as described in chapters 1 ("the cohort dies like anyone else under seige") and chapter 20 ("the barracks siege").
What group is Hot Sauce in if she denounced BOE?
Hot Sauce specifically calls BOE "fat cats" and "zombie lovers" in chapter 15, after noting that she, Honesty, and Born in the Morning, as well as Born in the Morning's father, are "active" in with an unnamed group at the park. It is unclear what group that is, if it has a name, or if it is organized in any capacity. From what little we know, it appears it is a group of people who are more radical than BOE, which I think is either ex-BOE members that were pushed out for their radial choices/beliefs, or civilians/other freedom fighters that aren't satisfied with what BOE is doing. But beyond that I have no idea
BOE wing names vs New Rho?
So BOE wings are named after historic Earth cities. Ctesiphon, Troia, Merv, Valencia (which is not historic to us, as it exists today, but WOULD be history in 10k years). They are named by BOE, likely to keep connection to Earth, just like BOE people-names. "New Rho", on the other hand, is likely named by the House. Rhodes is a place on the 7th house (see: 7th cavalier is the "Knight of Rhodes"), and I assumed that New Rho was like. The house naming shit. Like how New York is named after York in England, even though that area of land already had a name (Lenapehoking, I think?).
Specifically this difference is important because like, the House is a imperial colonizing force here, and they are naming things after their home system as a part of the imperial violence they are enacting. In As Yet Unsent, Judith notes that the non-house people call New Rho, "Lemuria" -- HOWEVER, in NtN chapter 17, the Angel mentions Lemuria twice in a way that is phrased like Lemuria is Somewhere else, and is Not the city they are in right now ("I was born on Lemuria", "there's still a facility on Lemuria") I am not sure what happened there, honestly. Perhaps an oopsie?
Where does the Empire want non house humanity to end up?
Unclear. Coronabeth notes in As Yet Unsent that even she (who has studied the war in-universe) has no idea what the real goal is. My guess is nowhere, because a forever-war has no end goal. It's a war for resources gained only by literal blood and death. Many analysis could be made about this as an allegory to to oil based forever-wars of today -- I read a few of them and as said before unfortunately failed to tag them, so if anyone has a link and can share with anon that would be awesome! But anyway, I do not think I am smart or learned enough to say a lot beyond this but, yeah. I think there is no end goal to the war besides meaningless revenge and the resources gained via murder, because that's the point. We could learn different in AtN tho! who knows
How many settled planets?
No idea! Thousands. Hundreds of thousands? Hundreds? Unsure! 10k years is a long time, and there are a lot of planets out there in the fantasy universe that could be habitable. EDIT ty @eskildit, unclear how many planets were settled over the course of the Empire, but there are three settled planets by the timeline of NtN: ""Everyone was crammed on one of three planets now, and they all agreed that this planet was easily the worst", from chapter 2
-
Thanks for sending this!! I really enjoyed answering it, and I hope it helped -- sorry if I missed any. Ask more any time!!

Only Friends Ep 10 Stray Thoughts
Last week, Sand and Nick did the reasonable thing of taking a loser camping trip and trying to see if they were romantically compatible. After giggling at their lack of chemistry, they cuddled until Ray ruined it! Ray was finally rejected by Mew, was kinda gross about it, and then drove two hours to Sand. Nick let them have the camper and went home. Sand and Ray talked and Sand tried to set a boundary, but they ended up fucking anyway. Top impressed Mew's moms since they didn't think Mew was doing too well. Nick apologized to Boston and tried to move on with his boss. Boston was accosted by Atom and generally just not having a great time. We left at Mew deciding to reconcile with Top after going on an apology tour to everyone except Boston and ending things with Ray, before running into Boeing outside of Top's apartment.
"Redemption"
"You're my top priority." Great pun, translator.
Ray is in deep with alcohol if his hands are shaking without it.
Oh no. Boeing is going to cause problems on purpose.
At work, Dan? Come on, man.
First and Khao look so good in this outdoor scene by the car.
Atom is lying. This is gross. I'm actually getting so mad.
This whole scene with the group turning on Boston is so upsetting. He's promiscuous, but he has been the victim of blackmailing in recent memory and not the perpetrator.
Mew and Top with these games, I swear. It was fun to see Top get pushed into a pool.
Well, I can appreciate Ray not actually forcing Sand to confront his dad.
I don't think Mew likes that Boeing might be smarter than him.
Interesting, Boston arrives to talk to Nick right after Nick confirms his interest in Dan.
Okay, I like Boston using a photo of Nick on his phone and a subtextual conversation to approach Nick again.
I really hope Ray gets help in this program.
Boeing is causing problems on purpose!
Well, Ray is drinking again, and now he knows his dad hired Sand to look after him.
Ray is so quick to call Sand a whore.
Classic: a First character is crying about a problem he caused.
Oh, baby boy. Please don't throw glass all over the place.
Drama in the wakeboard showers redux.
This Nick and Boston scene is incredible. Love the nasty4nasty boys recognizing something unique between them.
Of course Sand was there to return the money, but now I'm even more annoyed about him throwing his own product away.
Lot of Khaotung crying this episode. I hope he actually says this to Sand later.
Boeing is going after Sand next week? He's so busy!
I hate Atom so much. Reminder that Gay Panic Defense is still legal in most US states. I know Boston has done some pretty fucked up things this season, but I am so mad at Atom. I get why his friends wouldn't believe him and why Cheum feels the need to protect her brother. Still, Atom is awful and I will not be splitting hairs about him.
It's been an interesting episode of seeing all of the couples getting back together but with some big issues. Mew wants to get back with Top, but Boeing is confusing the issue. Ray wants to get back with Sand, but his alcoholism gets in the way. Boston wants to get back with Nick, but his destructive tendencies get in the way, and now Nick has a competing suitor.

Isnt it funny how whenever buisness men get hired to run a business it immediately implodes and creates the most godawful terrible shit ever
Like how Boeing’s continuous problems come from not having engineers on the board and exclusively being run by buisness men who dont know anything about airplanes, but have a degree in business school
How southwest airlines problems are arising because the people in charge arent pilots, arent flight attendants or engineers, but are buisness men who run it like a buisness
How amd’s ceo is an engineer and damnit they caught back up with Nvidia and intel and became a decent competitor again
Whenever business men are in charge things go straight to hell, so i dont want any company ever to be run like a business, because businesses are doomed to create the worst most godawful goods and services ever in the name of endless profits

Qu'est-ce que ça vous fait, quand vous tirez? Ah! Vous voyez bien que ça vous intéresse! Je vais vous le dire. Ça fait boum dans les oreilles.
- Alain Delon, Les Clan des Siciliens (1969)
Les Clan des Siciliens (1969) boasted three of the leading French male actors of their time in the form of Alain Delon, Jean Gabin, and Lino Venturo.
Jean Gabin is Vittorio Manalese, the head of the Sicilian Manalese clan in Paris, Alain Delon the reckless, amoral French criminal and killer Roger Sartet, who hires Vittorio’s clan to spring him from custody, and Lino Ventura Commissaire Le Goff, the man who first captured Roger, hunts Roger down and bring him to justice. Manalese partners Sartet with a gangster from New York to organise a heist. It doesn’t end well for either Sartet or Manalese with Sartet on dangerous ground having an affair with Manalese’s daughter-in-law and Goff ever closer to capturing them both.
Even in 1968, the film lined up classic detective story ingredients: mobsters, a cop hell-bent on capturing them, a sensational heist and, because there are Sicilians, a revenge of honour. With all these conventions, the film was scorned by the intellectual critics who usually despised this kind of gangster cinema that was also appealed to the taste of the populist masses. After watching it again I think the film critics were being supercilious and snobbish.
The Clan of the Sicilians is immensely enjoyable and beautifully crafted under the precise and spectacular direction as Verneuil. One of the more stunning bravura set pieces was the landing of a Boeing jumbo jet landing on a busy New York motorway. The film is a curious but happy hybrid of a traditional French detective film that also had American sensibilities. Above all it has the gorgeous music of Ennio Morricone as a soundtrack.

Yahoo News: Civil Rights Groups Horrified at Elon Musk's Racist Outburst Against Black People
Earlier this week, multi-hyphenate billionaire Elon Musk endorsed a tweet suggesting Black students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have lower IQs and shouldn't become pilots.
"It will take an airplane crashing and killing hundreds of people for them to change this crazy policy of  DIE," he tweeted, intentionally mixing up the letters of the acronym for "diversity, equity, and inclusion."
Civil rights groups were understandably horrified at the billionaire's racist comments.
"The only thing anyone needs to hear from Musk about diversity in the workplace is an apology," Marc Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League, told NBC News, calling his statements "abhorrent and pathetic."
In his tweets, Musk appeared to imply that HBCU students shouldn't be allowed to become pilots. However, neither his statement nor the tweet he was responding to stand up to virtually any degree of scrutiny, from made-up average IQ numbers to wrongfully correlating high SAT scores with high IQ.
Musk also claimed that a United Airlines program that allows students at three HBCUs to interview to become a pilot meant that the airline had "prioritized DEI hiring" over "safety," a demonstratively false statement that only further highlights his twisted worldview.
Even fellow billionaire Mark Cuban saw through the racist fearmongering.
"BTW, looks like multiple layers of merit-based evaluations before they can fly for United," Cuban tweeted, adding a link to the program.
In a schoolyard bully-esque response, a clearly incensed Musk called him "a liar" — without offering any evidence, of course.
In the CEO's mind, DEI initiatives seem to lead to mistakes like the door plug of a Boeing 737 MAX 9 jet falling out and forcing an emergency landing — a preposterous claim with no relationship to reality.
To be clear, Musk's latest hurtful remarks shouldn't come as much of a surprise, given previous comments and conspiracy theories he's already endorsed.
Musk's ventures also happen to have a well-documented problem with overt racism in the workplace, with swastikas and nooses found at Tesla, according to a lawsuit filed by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) last year.
"Musk’s company not only refused to investigate complaints or take any steps to end the abuse, it viciously retaliated against employees who complained or opposed the abuse," Morial told NBC.
It's a sad state of affairs, with Musk's racist tirades quickly becoming a common fixture on his social media platform X. Just over a month ago, Musk called an unhinged and antisemitic conspiracy theory "the actual truth," leading to an outpouring of criticism and condemnation.
His latest remarks are only adding to the pile.
"Reminder to Elon Musk: providing a home for the proliferation of hate speech and white supremacist conspiracy theories kills people," NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson wrote in response to one of Musk's tweets. "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion cultivates a more inclusive society."
"They are not the same," he added. "We are not the same."
Yet Musk is digging in his heels. In response to NBC's reporting, Musk lashed out once more.
"Those are openly racist organizations," he tweeted in a pitiful rebuke that will likely only stoke the flames.

Mew doesn’t deserve Boston as a friend
**Talking about Mew not Book. Book has done a wonderful job with his acting deserves big hugs I can’t imagine how difficult this role was for him. **
So last week I said Boston deserves Mew as a friend and the post was mainly about how Boston has been a good friend to Mew the reverse is not true. First let me get my own headcannon’ s out of the way no I haven’t read the book or read spoilers so don’t tell me. I believe Mew and Cheum have been friends for a longer amount of time and we found out from episode 10 Cheum met Boston their first year of university that’s why Mew and Cheum’s bond seems closer than the others.
Mew and Top were not dating when Boston and Top cheated. Mew and Top are official at the end of ep4 and Mew says infront of Boston 3 times he’s not dating Top. Yes it still shitty however not Murder Blackmail someone who is your “friend”. Also hypocrisy here with Mew kissing fucking Boeing back. So mew isn’t dating top now so it’s okay? Sure Jan.
All of the friends rely on Boston and he provides what the they ask of him. Mew tells Boston to help care for Ray. We KNOW he does. Boston wakes ray up in class. He drives him home. He stays with Ray when he asks. Cheum relies on Boston to talk to her brother when he won’t talk to any one else. Mew asks Boston to find them a designer. He does. Mew asks Boston for his opinion on Top and Boston tells him that Top dumps people after 3 months which we know from Boeing that’s true.
All of that is true but Boston is just a heartless slut for Mew to feel morally superior to when the only time I have seen Mew do something for another character was Ray’s attempt on his own life. What else? Nothing. But no Boston is the heartless one.
Mew knows how special Nick is. He’s well aware Boston doesn’t sleep with the same person regularly. That’s why Mew assumes Boston and Nick are seeing eachother at the pool. Something that I think ✨inspired✨ Mew to become official with Top then have his own pool date because Mew has to be better than Boston. Despite knowing how important Nick is Mew sure is quick to remind Nick of his place just hired help. Useful tool. Don’t get any ideas that you are more than that. Mean girl energy. Mew can’t even pretend to be civil to Boston’s person. Oh maybe it’s because they weren’t dating… Humm… double standard again….
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mew immediately manipulates Nick into telling Mew about Gap by playing on Nick’s insecurity. Nick was never important to Boston by Mew’s telling. Even though we know Mew is aware this is a fucking lie. Mew and Cheum have been gossiping about BostonNick developments for a while. Mew does this just to be fucking nasty. Boston doesn’t need a friend who can’t see the value he puts on Nick as a person. Not as a tool or sex toy.
Mew steals the vid from gaps computer doesn’t delete it from the computer. Then he tried to show Boston’s dad the video (so the vid is on the laptop too) and he shows Boston the clip on his phone. Mew has the audacity to think outing Boston and getting him sent to America would be proper punishment? Mew was going to do it. Murder his friend’s future. Seriously fantasize about Drowning his friend. Then to keep Boston in line he keeps the clip? Fucking sick and he has the audacity to call Boston filthy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boston after this event stays quiet he continued to help with the project mind you he’s already contributed Top who designed everything and Nick who installed security system and made the website. He is a tamed dog. And yet Mew didn’t invite him to the Halloween party. He fucking insults him though insisting that Boston and Top are still fucking. Yeah right Boston seems sooooo into that pathetic desperate sad rich boy.
Let’s get on to ep 10 my final fucking straw
Tumblr media
But Mew has the audacity to storm into Bostons house see the wall of lock boxes where Boston keeps his photos (not digital) and has the balls to say oh of course Boston would black mail someone to sleep with him. Really? Mew is the one with blackmail on Boston. Mew is the one who manipulated Boston’s person into saying that Boston’s closest guarded secret was a guy had taken video of him having sex. Mew is the one with two copies of the video to dangle over his head so he plays the silent friend the butt of your jokes.
Tumblr media
Boston had every right to look at Mew like he might slap him. But Boston just takes it because he did actually love his friends at one point and there is no use arguing with them. Boston believes he is the monster they claim him to be even with Nicks assurances that “Bostons friends love him for who he is”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mew never loved Boston. Boston was just a person to make Mew look better. Mew doesn’t deserve to have someone like Boston in his life. Mew can’t appreciate anything beyond his nose and that’s always up in the air because he’s SOOOOOO much better than anyone else. Literally there is no reason Boston should ever forgive him or see him again.
Tumblr media
Maybe Mew liked the idea of found family from his fantasy books that are in the shelves of his home. As a closeted queer child I think that’s what drew me to the genre lots of people from different walks of life and species coming together to go on an adventure. Often the found family aspect was more captivating than any romance the book had to offer. I longed to have a group of people to feel as close to me as my siblings who would accept me. Maybe that’s why Mew tried to assemble a found family of his own with a hunter, drunkard, table holder, and a dancer. But when Top came into the picture Mew let that fly out of the window. So he superficially held onto Boston hoping by blackmailing him Mew would eventually be able to play paddy cake with him again. But Mew should never be forgiven for what he’s did to Boston episode 10.

Can’t wait to see that smug smile slip from his face

The Federal Aviation Administration is actively recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.
“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism.”
The initiative is part of the FAA’s “Diversity and Inclusion” hiring plan, which claims “diversity is integral to achieving FAA’s mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel across our nation and beyond.”
The FAA’s website shows the agency’s guidelines on diversity hiring were last updated on March 23, 2022.
The FAA, which is overseen by Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s Department of Transportation, is a government agency charged with regulating civil aviation and employs roughly 45,000 people.
All eyes have been on the FAA and airline industry in recent days, after a plug door on a Boeing 737 Max 9 blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight on Jan. 5.
Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, chairman of Do No Harm – a group of health care professionals, medical students and policymakers working to “protect health care from a radical, divisive, and discriminatory ideology” – told Fox News Digital that similar to the medical field, the aviation industry has an obligation to protect its travelers.
“The aviation industry has a responsibility for traveler safety just as the health care industry has a responsibility for patient safety. These responsibilities outweigh other factors when considering applicants to work in those fields. People with disabilities who can successfully complete the task should never face discrimination,” said Goldfarb, a retired professor and the former associate dean for curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
“Unfortunately,” Goldfarb said, identity politics is “creating opportunities for so-called oppressed groups by lowering standards for entry into those fields and thereby endangering the safety of those which it’s designed to serve. Some endeavors simply do not lend themselves to identity politics,” he added.

Random absurd idea:
Our Skyy Only Friends.
It would be ridiculous, and I want it terribly.
They all try to go camping together, or plan a surprise party
Can you imagine 🤣
Wait, no. Better idea! Yo and Plug get married, no one else is there except Boeing for some reason. The only ones we get an explanation for are Ray and Sand, who are stuck in the mud at Burning Man. They're are occasionally shots of them on front of their fancy camper, grilling, or inside the camper having sex or being domestic AF.
The rest of it is just adorable wedding planning.
@hotasfahrenheit and I have the best ideas, and GMM should hire us.

1. Name an internet reference that always makes you laugh
oh I have S O MANY, but I think at the moment it’s that guy on TikTok and instagram reels who responds to that one really notorious conservative with FNAF lore. Like the og video will be something ridiculous like ‘if women get paid less, then why aren’t we only hiring women?’ And then the guy will stitch that video with ‘well you know who we SHOULDNT hire???? Freddy Fazbear’ and now whenever anyone’s says ‘Freddy Fivebears’ around me I just start sobbing
Either that or literally any notorious tumblr post like the three weed smoking girlfriends or the ball pit
2. Share some personal lore you’ve never shared before
I’ve seen a Boeing 747 crash on a runway, I got frostbite and almost had to amputate my foot on Mount Everest base camp and had to get emergency helicoptered out, I know how to fly a helicopter, my dad is friends with George Lucas, Sir Edmund Hillary (before he died) and Temuera Morrison, one of my primary school teachers was a very famous anime voice actor, I work in the animation industry (kinda I’m doing an apprenticeship) and I can speak three languages (English, Te Reo, and a little bit of Niuean).
3. Is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
Almost EVERYTHING inspires what I create. I always believe in wearing your inspirations on your sleeve, so stuff like watching the Neverending Story and The Last Unicorn growing up to reading Don Quixote last year has left a permanent impact on what I create. And of course Resident Evil has been a driving motivation for everything I’ve been doing lately but that’s like. Duh WNAHDNDJDNDJMX

The Soldier, real name "Roy Collins" is an American former member of the air force. Born in 1916, Nashville Tennessee, his interest in planes was apparent from a very young age. He opted to join the us military as soon as he turned 17. It didn't take him long to become a notable pilot. In 1941 when the U.S. officially took part in WW2, he was sent to Europe as a bomber (specializing in the Boeing B-17 AKA the Flying Fortress), with most of his efforts focusing on the Mediterranean Theater. But after he led a controversial raid that killed hundreds of civilians, an attempt on his life was made. He was shot in the leg multiple times and his throat slit by an unknown attacker, but thanks to medical help arriving quickly, he managed to survive the ordeal, albeit losing his voice. During this time he would communicate through a notepad but after the war he made an attempt to learn ASL. Unfortunately for him, his mutism also meant discharge from the military. But he still craved combat, leading him to join Reliable Excavation Demolition, or RED - who were desperate to hire anyone, as they were operating outside of the law.

this is such a random question, but on the subject of theories i was wondering what would have happened if john and the erebos had arrived at the aftermath of canaan house before boe and found the non-lyctor survivors. like would he have just let corona, judith, and camilla go home or get rid of them because they knew too much? is “knowing too much” even a concern for john? for some reason neither option feels totally right to me, but i would love to hear your thoughts!
I honestly think he would let them go home! I think one of John's major flaws is he fundementally both misunderstands and underestimates the people he sees as "his", and I think this does extend into the houses.
I don't think he would see non-Lyctors as any kind of threat, even if he knew that said non-Lyctors had figured out the secret to Lyctorhood. At most I think he would sew their tongues but honestly I think he would take one look at Judith "on life support from catastrophic gut wound" Deuteros, Camilla "catatonic with grief" Hect, Coronabeth "inconsolable because Ianthe age Babs and not her" Tridentarius and be like wow! these kids are having a bad time I should send them home to their parents.
Remember -- if John had arrived at Canaan House before BOE, this is *before* BOE took out 18,000 soldiers with orbital radiation missiles. this is *before* Augustine's betrayal, and Mercymorn's, and *before* the Sixth House defected. The only betrayal John would have felt was Cytherea's, and she failed, and as we see in HtN he mostly pities her.
I do think this could lead to a very interesting AU wherein Camilla is sent home (with the bones in her pocket), Judith is fixed up with proper medical care from the start (and then packed back off to the cohort), and Coronabeth is probably (on request) taken to the Erebos with Ianthe.
I can see this leading to Camilla spending a lot of time trying to free Palamedes' soul while on the Sixth, potentially needing to join the cohort (Alexandrite Cam, anyone?) so she can reconnect with Judith, who despite having several sticks up her ass is the only person Cam feels she can really go to about this (due to them both being the only people left in the Dominicus system who actually know what happened at Canaan House). Maybe Camilla convinces Judith to poke around in the skull bones -- Judith isn't as good as Harrow, but maybe they do bring back some shadow of Palamedes into the bones.
THEN maybe eventually they run into Coronabeth, who perhaps was not allowed all the way to the Mithraeum, but WAS given some sort of very strategic and fancy seat in the cohort so Ianthe can keep tabs on her. A very nepotism hire situation, and despite Ianthe's desire to keep her safe Coronabeth HATES it all because she was once again left behind. When the opportunity to track down Ianthe arises, she takes it.
I see this unfolding over several years post GtN timeline. Perhaps the three of them end up collaborating with other characters along the way that they feel they can trust, some more likely than others -- Mia (Pro's wife) and her children, now grown enough to want more information about their father's death. Ram and Capris Asht, who don't believe that their brother would kill the eighth house heir he had sworn to protect. Kiana can get in here too. maybe the Third house Boy Who Loved Shuttles helps them with a getaway once. Abigail's younger brother, who she named as her heir -- maybe he helps with Palamedes' soul. Jeannemary and Issac's younger siblings. A neo-niner or two -- John renewed the house, and involving a character or three that was ressurected from our modern times would be super interesting and also fill out our merry band. Maybe the neo-niners Remember Things that make Cam connect some dots.
Harrow is still out there, obviously, and in this AU I am imagining Number 7 as NOT speeding up and really taking 5 years to get there, just to even out the time line and allow all that to happen before Number 7 comes and Augustine drowns the Mithraeum.
anyway. events occur, things happen, and intrigue abounds. Alecto awakens, Harrow Remembers, Ianthe doesn't get the girl. Cam is on a warpath. Judith is dragged alongside. Coronabeth isn't going to be left behind again.
what was your question again? this answer has gotten deeply out of hand

Over the past week, airplanes made by Boeing have been involved in numerous incidents, including midair emergencies, leaking hydraulic fluid, a wheel falling off a plane as it took off, pilots losing control of the plane mid-journey, and a plane plummeting suddenly and injuring 50 people. As a result, right-wing influencers and far-right extremists are once again spreading the conspiracy that Boeing’s problems are all due to the airplane manufacturer's supposed embrace of diversity.
But this time around, they are going even further: Some are even claiming that the accidents are happening intentionally, and that Boeing is failing on purpose as part of a global conspiracy to bring down Western civilization and promote communism and countries like China.
These claims began earlier this year after a part of a Boeing-built Alaska Airlines plane blew off during a flight. Far-right figures claimed that airlines were now more dangerous, not because of faults with the production process, but because they forced diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) policies which, conspiracists claimed without any proof, resulted in putting unqualified flight crews in the cockpit. The same far-right figures are now claiming that Boeing’s support of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies and DEI have led to plummeting standards in the manufacturing process.
“Boeing … could be deliberately committing suicide as an organization,” James Lindsay, an anti-LGBTQ extremist who spreads conspiracy theories about communism taking over the world, said on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast released on Thursday. “It’s cutting corners, it’s locked in by this ESG/DEI stuff.”
“Isn’t United run by a drag queen?” Rogan asked on the podcast.
Lindsay went on to explain that a new Chinese plane called the Comac C919, which is virtually identical to the Boeing 737, was posed to be introduced as a replacement for the US-made plane. “So maybe you kill Boeing and you allow American manufacturing of high-quality aircraft to fall, and then the Chinese competitor is now the thing on the market that doesn't have this bad rap sheet and this risk factor, maybe it's big dirty international business that's actually happening,” Lindsay said.
The conspiracist also claimed, without proof, that executives at Boeing were allowing these accidents to happen in order to increase their own bonuses, awarded for implementing ESG policies.
On his own podcast on Thursday night, Donald Trump Jr. claimed that Boeing’s apparent demise as a result of diversity was a symbol of a broader collapse of Western civilization.
“This is American decline,” Trump Jr. said. “This is happening across our country. This is because of ridiculous policies, stupidity, DEI, and everything. This is what's happening to America in a broad-spectrum way.”
Boeing said that it was gathering more information about the incidents that took place over the past week, and has also repeatedly said that it was working to cooperate with a Department of Justice criminal investigation into the Alaska Airlines blowout. Additionally, the company’s latest diversity report, covering 2020 to 2022, shows that the company has not yet met the DEI goals it set for itself in relation to hiring women and Black people.
But this hasn’t stopped the Boeing conspiracy from being spread and celebrated by the wider right-wing community online.
On X (formerly Twitter), far-right radio host Glenn Beck posted a video of the C919 plane, with the comment “When [Boeing] goes down due to DEI, look who is waiting with the wings. CHINA.”
“Boeing is essentially sabotaging its own operations, similar to the chaotic retreat from Afghanistan orchestrated by President Biden, which allowed China to fill the void left by America,” Michael O’Fallon, a founder of a corporate travel agency, wrote on X in a post shared by both Lindsay and Beck.
It’s not just public figures spreading these conspiracies, either—the baseless allegations have filtered into all corners of the internet, including far-right message boards, Telegram channels, and X. “Commercial Airlines and Boeing should have never been brainwashed by the WOKE radicals into DEI training & hiring where diversity was prioritized over merit with no regard for passenger safety,” a right-wing account on X wrote this week.
On Telegram, a similar narrative was shared, including claims that this entire series of accidents was an effort to stop Americans from flying.
“I am under the impression that this whole DEI program is a way to self-sabotage the entire airline industry, which will in turn scare the hell out of people from flying,” John Sabal, a QAnon influencer, wrote on his Telegram channel. Sabal baselessly linked the accidents to a global plot to undermine Western democracies. “Notably, UN Agenda 2030 places quite a few restrictions on flying for the general population,” he said, “As if the Globalists do not want you traveling. It’s far past time to start asking some serious questions.”
