Today was... how would I describe it? Ah yes remarkable. I went with the group of hunters today and tried something new. I had to prove to them I was a hunter and the perfect leader of the boys. So I painted my face so I would look like a stranger like a new person and I loved it. It gave me a boost of confidence and I didn’t have to hide my insecurities. Becuase I was a new person and had no insecurities at the moment. After painting my face the hunters and I went forward into the island to find the pigs. Instead of me chasing the pig the boys and I used a hunting technique and surrounded the pig in a circle. The pig had no way to escape the deadly grip I had on him. I launched forward and slit the pigs throat, I could feel every last bit of adrenaline rushing through my veins. I enjoyed watching the pig suffer, running around with no hope to get out. I could practically hear his pounding heart beat, of course until I slaughtered him. When arriving back to the rest of the boys, Ralph seemed angry. He kept rambling on about smoke and being saved. Ralph needs to notice the important things like my pig. I killed the pig, but he is worried about some smoke he must be dumb. Ralph his stupid!!!! I give him meat and he yells at me for not being rescued I know I’m repeating myself but I freaking angry someone needs to notice me!! Then piggy opens his fat mouth, with rage I hit him violently. Today was fine until this ugly idiot boy tried to control me.

Moisture sensor - Oct Progress

Board

The board schematic  (on github) has been designed using Easy EDA :

and needs footprints of the components to be added to create the board.  Board labels will be need on the silkscreen print for the terminals.   This youtube tutorial is helpful.

A small addition has been a couple of the sachets of silica recyled from COVID-19 Lateral Flow Tests. The board has also been re-oriented for a betterlead for the sensor cables.  This version uses the supplied patch antenna which is adequate in situations where the device is not buried.  The container is a small food box with a sealing lid with 4 clasps. A 10mm hole drilled at one end below the clasps accommodates a 2.54 JST connector and is sealed with silicon sealant, as is the moisture sensor.  Some feet on the board would be useful to raise it about the bottom of the box where any moisture would accumulate.

Based on this design, a veroboard prototype is under test on our Rowan Tree .

Code

Having had the experience of changing the batteries on a device only for it to fail to restart, and thinking about the potential need to check the moisture sensor calibration,  the Arduino code now runs a short cycle of  30 updates on startup before going into the 2-hourly cycle. These reports are marked as 'test’ for later exclusion from the record.  On site, these updates can be viewed on a smart phone as sensors are calibrated.  The time delay after powering on the moisture sensor has also been increased to allow better stabilisation before readings are taken.
