“The Israeli military's devastation in Gaza is so extreme that Palestinians in Gaza cannot document what is happening. This is genocide happening before our eyes, act now.”
Naomi Klein: Jews Must Raise Voices for Palestine, Oppose "False Idol of Zionism" - April 24, 2024
@democracynow:
Hundreds of protesters were arrested in Brooklyn on Tuesday when Jewish New Yorkers and allies gathered for what they called a "Seder in the Streets to Stop Arming Israel" on the second night of Passover. The demonstration, held one block away from the home of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, came just hours before the Senate overwhelmingly approved a $95 billion foreign aid package that includes about $17 billion in arms and security funding to Israel. "Too many of our people are worshiping a false idol," said award-winning author and activist Naomi Klein, one of several speakers at Tuesday's rally. "They are enraptured by it. They are drunk on it. They are profaned by it. And that false idol is called Zionism." Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs on over 1,500 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday. The US Jewish movement opposing Israeli war crimes is truly moving. God bless them.
Reviewed: "The Missing Letters of Mrs. Bright" by Beth Miller
You know how you can buy a book because of the cover, knowing absolutely nothing about it? Well, I wanted to read The Missing Letters of Mrs. Bright because my fifth grade teacher was Mrs. Bright and she was the best teacher I had in school. That’s it. The human mind can be weird.
But it can also be kind to itself, because Beth Miller’s novel was a gentle rollercoaster of emotions and…
Finished Broadchurch, and I’m a new person as a result
Alec Hardy 🫰🏽😭🫰🏽 we love and treasure but also Beth Latimer and Ellie Miller ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m married to all of them funny how that works 🙃
Also wow S3 was so wonderful I truly truly wish we had more seasons but everyone got so busy I’m sure, S1-3 are worth it to watch it’s the best TV experience I’ve had since Good Omens
Just had the dumbest thought of Charles being the type who cries when seeing happy/cute things (because being alone since u were 13 means that messed up ideals of how men express emotions kinda slips by u). Just the image of Arthur getting all worried when Charles finishes reading the book Mary Beth lent him and letting a single manly tear fall because Little Women is hella emotional
I know this isn't really the place to post edits to be honest but this one I just made shows one of my favourite part in post apocalyptic shows/games/movies. The human connections.
"Number one, this is not a show about zombies. This is a show and a story about love." - Troy Baker.
I can't even explain how much resonate with any zombie medias I've watched. Yes, zombies/walker/clicker (or whatever you want to name them) are apart of it but they're like the side plot.
That type of content, to me, shows so much about connections and how humans would act without the society. We can see bounds forming between people who would have never even bat an eye at one another on a daily basis. There are no more real social groups. No poor, no rich. Just people trying to survive the best they can.
New families, not bounded my blood but families none the less. Caring for and protecting one another. They all have different backgrounds, different morals and ethic but they still bring people in no matter the danger it could bring upon them.
Anyways, my heart will always belong to zombies/ post apocalyptic medias <3
Before I say anything, I haven't seen the Jodie Whittaker era of Doctor Who. But if it's as bad as I heard, I just want to take a moment to remember a Jodie Whittaker performance I think about sometimes.
This is from the first episode of Broadchurch. Her character Beth Latimer, is finding out her son died.
I knew what was gonna happen, and it still brought me to tears. It's the way she's still processing what they told her, while crying because she did process it. You can see the intense grief on her face, while she's frozen. She cries, you can hear the agony, while she's also silent.
