BU - Bangtan Universe

💜 Che cos’è il Bangtan Universe o BU?

Il Bangtan Universe (o BU) è il logo ufficiale del franchising apertosi più o meno nell’estate del 2017 e il marchio sotto cui si sviluppa l’universo narrativo ideato e creato dalla Big Hit. L’universo in questione si ispira ai membri dei BTS (i suoi personaggi ne prendono infatti i loro nomi di nascita) e la sua storia è arrivata a noi nel corso degli anni attraverso contenuti di natura diversa come immagini (i poster di Love Yourself), cortometraggi (il prologo di 화양연화, gli short film di Wings, gli Highlight reel, i VCR dei concerti), testi in forma di diario (화양연화 The Notes) e un webtoon (화양연화 pt.0 - Save Me).

💜 In quale modo il Bangtan Universe si collega agli album dei BTS?

Sono tre le ere principali che si possono ricollegare al BU:

Wings

Love Yourself

화양연화 - The Most Beautiful Moment In Life

La storia ci è stata presentata per la prima volta nel 2015 attraverso il video musicale di “I Need U”, il quale ha dato inizio alla trilogia di 화양연화 (“The Most Beautiful Moment in Life”). Prima che ne arrivasse la seconda parte con “Run”, è stato rilasciato sul canale ufficiale della bighit “화양연화 on stage: prologue”, video in cui vengono mostrati i ragazzi mentre si divertono insieme in una località marina che vedremo ritornare spesso nominata in seguito nei Notes.

La storia si arricchisce di dettagli anche nei video musicali delle title “I Need You” e “Run” in versione giapponese, le quali seguono lo stesso concept narrativo delle loro gemelle coreane.

L'era sembra concludersi con il video musicale di “Young Forever” che tutto è tranne che una conclusione: il primo frame del video recita infatti la dicitura: HYYH 2015.04.29 ~ Forever (“HYYH 2015.04.29 ~ Per sempre”).

Wings

L'era Wings si apre con una serie di sette cortometraggi: ognuno di questi si focalizza su un personaggio della storia e ognuno di loro si apre con una citazione presa dal libro “Demian” di Hermann Hesse. Si scoprirà più tardi che il titolo di ognuno di questi video corrisponderà ai rispettivi solo dei membri nell'album, rilasciati nello stesso ordine in cui compaiono nella tracklist del disco: Begin, Lie, Stigma, First Love, Reflection, Mama, Awake.

L'atmosfera cupa e misteriosa dei sette short film viene mantenuta anche nell'MV di “Blood, Sweat & Tears”, la title di questo full album. Il tema già suggerito dai numerosi indizi presenti nell'era precedente si ripresenta anche in questo nuovo video: i ragazzi sembrano essere bloccati in dimensioni spazio-temporali diverse e il personaggio di Jin sembra essere l'unico in grado di poter mutare la situazione e cambiare il destino dei suoi compagni. La versione giapponese di “Blood, Sweat & Tears” non fa che dare una resa alternativa della stessa storia già illustrata nei precedenti video, il che rafforza le numerosissime teorie dei fan.

A concludere questo capitolo della discografia dei Bangtan viene pubblicato il “Wings Concept Book”, un libro esplicativo di ogni dettaglio riguardante il concept di questo secondo full album e del suo profondo collegamento con l'opera sopracitata di Hermann Hesse.

Love Yourself

La serie di “Love Yourself” viene rivelata al pubblico per la prima volta attraverso sette poster raffiguranti i personaggi della storia ormai iniziata nel 2015. Nelle locandine i ragazzi vengono immortalati nello stesso modo in cui si presentano nei “LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel '起承轉結”, 4 video rilasciati poco dopo l'anteprima dei poster stessi.

Il titolo di questi nuovi cortometraggi rappresenta le 4 fasi fondamentali di una storia:

起: “inizio” o “introduzione”

承: “sviluppo”

轉: “svolta”

結: “conclusione”

Ad ognuno di questi passaggi verrà fatto corrispondere in quest'ordine uno dei contenuti rilasciati sotto il nome di questa serie: “Love Yourself 起: Wonder”, “Love Yourself 承: Her”, “Love Yourself 轉: Tear” e “Love Yourself 結: Answer”.

Il primo ad essere rilasciato è il mini album “Love Yourself 承: Her”, il quale contribuisce alla storia solamente tramite i Notes che si possono trovare al suo interno. Il secondo contenuto digitale pubblicato si rivela essere “Love Yourself 起: Wonder”, un cortometraggio che anticipa il solo “Euphoria” di Jungkook (che ritroveremo poi in “Love Yourself 結: Answer”) e che sviluppa ulteriormente le già accennate storyline dei personaggi del BU. Successivamente il gruppo torna a fare comeback con “Love Yourself 轉: Tear”, la cui title “Fake Love” e i cui Notes contenuti all'interno dell'album mostrano nuovi complicati risvolti della trama. La serie si conclude infine con l'ultimo suo capitolo, “Love Yourself 結: Answer” e i suoi corrispettivi e immancabili Notes.

💜 In quale modo il blog Flower Smeraldo e l’account twitter @Smeraldo_Books si inseriscono nella storia?

Il blog Flower Smeraldo nasce il 9 agosto 2017 e narra la storia fittizia di Testesso, il proprietario di un negozio fiori. Il fiorista parla principalmente di un tipo specifico di fiore, lo Smeraldo, una pianta molto rara e delicata rimasta per molto tempo solo leggenda. Il sito è stato utilizzato principalmente per spiegare l’origine dei fiori che si vedono stringere in mano a Jin negli Highlight Reel e che vengono citati anche nei Notes. L’account Twitter @Smeraldo_Books nasce invece il 7 gennaio 2019, giorno in cui viene pubblicato il primo estratto dei Notes. La dicitura del primo tweet riporta le cifre 1/15, anticipando il fatto che saranno 15 in tutto le citazioni pubblicate.
