Ancient Amazonians created mysterious ‘dark earth’ on purpose
Soil study suggests today’s Indigenous Amazonians are making new terra preta
Mysterious patches of fertile black soil pepper the verdant Amazon rainforest. They sit in stark contrast with the reddish, eroded soil that dominates the basin.
Researchers have long thought this Amazonian dark earth—or terra preta—was created by pre-Hispanic Indigenous civilizations, which have inhabited the region for millennia, but it wasn’t clear how.
Now, a multidisciplinary team of scientists and Indigenous partners suggests the ancient Amazonians intentionally created the rich soil thousands of years ago to better foster their crops, and that their modern-day descendants are still making new terra preta today.
INFLUENCE OF ALKALI HYDROXIDE EFFLUENT GENERATED THROUGH CONDITIONING OF PRODUCER GAS ON BLACK SOIL | Journal of Global Agriculture and Ecology
H2, CO, CH4, CO2, N2, Tar, SPM, and water vapour, as well as other gaseous pollutants including NH3, H2S, and SO2, are all present in biomass gasification producer gas. The majority of producer gas applications necessitate a low Tar content. As a result, the producing gas must be cleaned before it can be used again. There are several methods for cleaning producing gas, but each has its own set of restrictions. Alkali hydroxide (NaOH) is used to condition production gas since it has an alkaline composition and should offset the acidic nature of the producer gas. Different concentrations of alkali hydroxide were used to condition the producing gas, resulting in effluent. Impurities such as tar, SPM, and other pollutants can be found in this effluent. It's thought that wastewater contains tar and other pollutants, and that dumping it in the soil will deteriorate its quality. For the studies, the physical and chemical properties of soil were taken into account. Color, soil texture, moisture content, bulk density, pore space, water holding capacity, and specific gravity are physical parameters of soil; however, chemical parameters include pH, calcium carbonate, macronutrient (Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium), and essential micronutrient (Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium) and essential micronutrient (Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium) and essential micronutrient (Nitrogen, Phosphorous (Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Copper). The Chi Square test was used to statistically analyse the data at a significance level of 5%. Except for water holding capacity, nitrogen phosphorus, and manganese in soil, most of the characteristics are non-significant (at 5% and 10% level of significance), although these factors have a significant impact on crop production, plant growth, and vegetation.

How do you feel about the increase in really weird NSFW ads on here (advertising panels that look like sexual encounters, and AI art apps that pride themselves on porn) but will take down NSFW posts from their users, even if it isn't technically sexual.
i hate all social media and it's consistent prioritising the advertisers over the users and the internet simply was a better place before capitalism sunk its hooks into it
modern wolfstar but sirius is a scam tarot reader at small town fairs (he got the cards from a thrift store for a few pounds, watched one video on how to read them and he decided it's his best shot at making some money to survive). cue the fair where he's working ends up in a small town from wales where, lo and behold, he keeps pulling the moon and the death card for everyone. a small child that can't be older than 5? they get the death card. an old lady who wanted to know how her tomatoes will do this summer? death.
now, sirius does know that the death card means new beginnings and it's not as bad as it seems but everyone just starts calling him names and his clientele lessens by the day because everyone finds out about his cards and how he's the bringer of death (literally no one died since he got there so he finds the new nickname a bit overkill).
he's too worried about his scamming abilities though. he just can't shake the weird feeling he gets when he pulls moon out again, even after he takes the damn card out of his pack because he's sick of seeing it (he leaves the death card in because he does find it funny)
but then, on the night before the full moon, when he's just getting ready to pack his cards and cheap props and call it a day, a farmer comes to get a reading. he's still in his overalls because he came straight from the farm here to check out the card reader who the villagers keep saying is predicting deaths on the full moon to see what the fuss is about.
sirius is smitten as soon as the farmer opens his mouth, but imagine his surprise when he hears that he's been slowly making people fear him again, after he just convinced them that he's a kind guy. and imagine his bigger surprise when the cute farmer with hay stuck in his hair and mud on his overalls tells him he's a werewolf.
I put my roots in the soil at your feet; even when you were ripped away from me, in your soil I stayed. Hope you don't mind, I still feel your roots tangled with mine, so here I'll be, until you can come home to me.
Hi!! I love your wigglers, say hello to them from me <3 It's great to see them out and about while mine have stayed burrowed for like 2 weeks now lol. Could you post a picture of your tank in full? I'm always amazed by the huge amount of space they have!
You’re in luck it was time for a tank change so I was able to get a video with all 6 that live in my biggest tank out!
I’m still waiting on the moss to put down to keep the soil nice and moist(and also to make it pretty) and I might move the hides around some but this is more or less how I do their set ups.
I have recently discovered this website that shows you the racial/ethnic makeup of your town in the USA.
You just enter your zip code and you can see your town and if you expand it you can few the entire US.
Blue is for majority white. Green is for majority black. Red is for majority asian. Yellow is for majority hispanic. And brown/purple is for multiracial/other.
Anyways I find it interesting how when you just view the US it's just white people and then 2 states near the border with a high Hispanic population but if you zoom in you can see a more accurate representation of the diversity that this country has.
I personally find all of this stuff interesting and it makes me curious as to why some populations are more higher in some places than others.
By the way saying a Black woman politely disagreeing with you is "raging" and "needs therapy" is incredibly racist. Nowhere did I call OP names or claim she need medical attention for her opinions. I politely disagreed, but that is "rage" apparently. This is a prime example of white women making themselves victims, and its why fans of color like me will never feel safe in fandoms no matter how "inclusive" y'all pretend to be and why we don't feel included in feminism so often. Your white victimhood ruins any solidarity we may ever have.
