Dracula, Daily, Done!

We did it! We've reached November 6th! The Time Loop resets itself anew We've finished Dracula!

At a rough estimate, I've churned out about 155 individual sketches since May 3rd for this little daily sketch project. Who knew a roughly six month/400 page novel could be so long?

Thank you so so much to everyone who's stopped by and liked, reblogged, commented or followed! Your support was wonderful and desperately appreciated. It's been a joy to participate in Dracula Daily properly this year. This book means so much to me, and getting to share it in art form has been a fantastic, cathartic challenge.

I have plans to maybe go in, fix up a few of the more rushed/wonky drawings, and possibly produce a little Dracula zine featuring all the sketches in chronological order + some selected painted scenes, but we'll see how that shakes out!

For now, thank you all so much again. I hope you stick around now the Dracula party's ended. I have a new story with Big Finish coming out in December for the Eleventh Doctor, and a few secret projects arriving in 2024, so there's plenty in store!

The image of going to any town and just absolutely leaving peoples pockets dry just by being a pretty doll they think they can play with when in truth you’re the one playing them. Arthur Morgan in the corner making sure nothing goes south yet getting a bit jealous of the men getting robbed.

How could Dutch ever think that this was a good idea to scheme money ? Sure, it was working — and sure, this was the most money they’ve gotten in a day, but … the way you looked at those bastards was similar to the way you look at him is making a vein pop in his head.

Long, dewy lashes tipped with puppy-like eyes — hot damn you were too pretty, it’s making his irritation very evident. He narrows his eyes at the way you presented yourself to those pigs, a soft click to the tongue which quietly drowns out immediately because of the constant chattering amongst the bar. He has to force himself to look away, otherwise he’ll end up dragging a man by the ear for even looking your way. Damnit he’s looking your way again and-

Ah. There she was. pixie-like hands ever so sneakily coming from behind and dragging that delicious looking wallet out of the man’s pockets and into hers. Though you looked innocent with all those laces ‘n bows, you were a bit too sneaky for his liking sometimes. Reason being is the amount of shirts borrowed (stolen) off of him and into your hand.

Okay, maybe it wasn’t that bad of an idea but still.

“— I really must be going.. ‘m afraid the bow in my hair is about to fall ! Give me a minute to adjust this silly thing now, will you ?” Feigning panic of a girl wanting to keep their appearance pristine and delicate, your attempts are futile as the man whom you’ve pickpocketed unconsciously grabs your hand from behind at a painful grip, “But sugar, your hair looks fine—”

You shoot Arthur the look.

You dont dare mention to the man in front of you the way Arthur is striding towards him at a quick pace with his hand curled into a tight fist.

so,

I love the kick scene. The cheeky smirk, the exasperated look, the dangling legs and steady foot hovering near the unstable chair and how mr. zimmers music gives the perfect drop to create one of the most visually satisfying scenes ever.

but.. I also like the immediate line which precedes it.

from the beginning of the movie, we get to see snippets of how arthur is well and truly done with Cobbs shit and the unpleasantness it brings. he knows cobb can potentially sabotage the entire mission, and being the pointman, he needs to ask the important questions, he needs to know how they all wake up. But here, he brings up the previous mishap. while arthur really doesn’t need to add the part he got shot by cobb, he says it anyway..

Is it anger? Is it frustration? Or is it both? Is it both of those and also cause he’s hurt?

that wasn’t the first time arthur was killed by either of his best friends, and even though it comes as some sort of twisted mercy from cobb, it still stings. He hides it as much as he can but he’s only human. it’s not easy to gloss over the fact that despite not being able to kill his own projection, cobb is always ready to kill his only friend who dropped everything and ran away with him. he doesn’t show remorse over it and even here, when arthur does mention it, the most cobb manages is an exasperated eye roll. it’s all arthur will ever get from dominic “one apology” cobb.

eames sees this. he sees thru the brittle anger and fragile frustration and sees how hurt arthur really is. eames also knows that he can’t interrupt and may be try giving a cobb piece of mind or acknowledge arthurs pain, both eames knows that Arthur wouldn’t appreciate. So he goes with one thing he has always been good at in getting Arthur to relax a little.

Distraction. tried and tested and confirmed over the years to get an exhausted arthur to smile, a scared arthur to chuckle, a stressed arthur to smirk, a worried arthur to snort or a sad arthur to give a fond eye roll.

and it works. the moment is stolen from cobb and eames can’t help by smile at arthur levelling him with a lovable bitch face. It’s not perfect, and may be a poor substitute for a hug that eames really wants to give, but he knows he has made arthur tear himself from a bad memory and look at eames with a promise of some laughter.

[I know no-one is talking about Inception in the year of our lord 2024 but I have cyclical hyper fixations and it's Eames/Arthur time again.]

And I think theirs is one of the most prominent examples of fandom hive mind and mandela effect where the lore behind the characters is so universally accepted across the fandom that you forget in the actual movie there is 0 (zero) information about them other than their names.

Like Eames and Arthur both having military backgrounds, Arthur being Jewish and coming from a big midwestern family with a lot of sisters,... ,all accepted as facts. It's truly fascinating.

Hi hi hello! I saw you’ve helped folks find fics before and I’m hoping someone out there remembers this one: Eames gets stuck in (what i think is) limbo and Arthur goes down to get him, but it’s a wild goose chase. I think Arthur wanders around Tokyo/a city for a while, before eventually ending up in some kind of jungle, then there’s a cab that turns to sand end when he eventually finds Eames, Eames has forged himself into a dog? Or a deer? It’s a very surreal fic, very cerebral. Hoping some of these disparate things left an impression!! I can’t find it on AO3 so I hope it hasn’t been deleted :(

I know the one! I couldn’t remember the name at first but then I remembered that the dog was described as having “rheumy eyes”. Using that, I was able to find it - it’s Volta by weatherfront
