Graphic drawing "Apophis", sheet size 406,40 x 406,40 mm (Arkadiusz Miodek)

critical lack of fanart for so this is ever after by ft lukens!! might draw the rest of the crew but for now here's my designs for arek (terminally bisexual and secretly in love with his mage) and matt (the mage, who is exhausted). they are both incredibly stupid. i gave them gay earrings btw
[id: a digital bust drawing of arek and matt standing side by side, facing forward and eyeing each other. arek has reddish brown hair swept back from his head, greyish eyes, and has a slit in one eyebrow. he is wearing a lace-up white shirt under a red vest with gold trim. matt has wavy brown hair that falls across his forehead, dark brown eyes, and medium brown skin with faint freckles. he is wearing a blue shirt with silvery trim and a darker blue jacket. end id.]

I know I already posted the art of Arek, but I wanted to add this-
this is the first drawing I did of him, versus now!
Which, wow, there is a Difference.
(also everyone should go read the book So This Is Ever After)

So I asked the silly little voice assistant in my phone to generate a number between 1 and 45, and it chose 13. How would Arek/Van react to the sight of blood?
It depends on whose blood it is, and the context. Strong trigger warning for detailed descriptions of self-harm.
Fascinated, when it’s self-inflicted, though not in Ira’s detached way. He cuts mostly to see his blood. He likes staring at it coating the edge of the knife; when he was young, it was tangible proof the Foundation couldn’t control every bit of his life, and post-debut it’s the one personal secret he’s allowed to keep.
He bounced around his bathroom for thirty minutes straight the first time he broke skin. The first aid Ira drilled into him disappeared with his frustration, temporarily. He couldn’t identify the three layers he cut through. It was the only irritating part of the whole event, though he was sure his shoulder would beg to differ.
Maybe it was that he wanted to bleed. Maybe he underestimated his own strength with the knife. But he bled, and that was the point. The color matched the Foundation sigil on his stomach.
Was red the color of guilt, or the cause?
He never broke skin when he sparred with Site-120. Her blade looked more likely to shatter her own Impasse-brittle fingers than his.
120’s fingers were about as brittle as his excuse the next night to turn in early. Two cuts, that time; three in total.
It wasn’t worth the barren white walls and the barren white mattress when Ira discovered him, but it did help with his pyromancy. He never scorched the sheets again.
When someone else draws his blood in a fight, his first thought is protection and his second thought is probing his shoulders, stomach, thighs, because his third thought is that there is always a camera somewhere, and a pair of eyes.
When he sees the blood of someone close, he fights past the moment of panic and slips into medic mode. He’s had plenty of practice.
When he sees the blood of a stranger, he’s concerned, but can’t bring himself to empathy. Ethics is the one tasked with taking his softness, as always.
The blood of another teenager is one of the few sights that brings him to proper anger.

Realized my favorite ship dynamics are small who talks a lot and tall who listens (with varying degrees of interest), so I drew a line up of some pairs that came to mind!!
Figured this would also be a good way to show my fandoms/media I like, since this blog is pretty new :]
From left to right: Bdubs and Etho, Karkat and Gamzee, Louis and Legoshi, Duck and Red Guy.
Individual ships/close ups under cut!!

Currently I draw all my OCs from the cod universe. Yep, there are 9 ocs in total.
I am dying already. But I will keep coloring simple. (That I don’t die so hard) ( ಠ ͜ʖ ಠ)
I will upload the drawing here too! Hehe. Maybe you are a little curious! ✨

Drawing with a "BUTTERFLY" marker, size 21 x 21 cm (Arkadiusz Miodek)

controversial opinion about incredibly niche subjects, but i actually like the use of the universal ‘he’ in the narration of Left Hand of Darkness. I like it for the same reason that everyone hates it, and Ursula Le Guin herself regretted it: because it doesn’t fit.
The book is ostensibly written and translated by Genly, or by the observers that came to Gethen before him, and the central struggle of Genly’s story is his inability to give up the gendered frameworks he’s used to in the face of a situation where they don’t apply at all. Having that baked into the language indicates just how deep that struggle runs. In order for him to understand Gethen, to connect to Estraven--hell, to understand himself--he needs to give up on this idea of gender that is so fundamental to his cultural background that it’s baked into his language, and that’s just as much of a barrier to true connection as Estraven’s memories of Arek are to their use of mindspeech. Having that reflected in the text itself, and showing Genly struggle with it as he writes, is actually a super effective way to not only show this tension, but also draw further attention to the limits of Le Guin’s English-speaking audience.
