i think there is a latent racism-meets-misogyny problem in some of the rvd fandom like. toni only gets ttalked about in relation to cheryl which yes is partially because the show treats toni like that post-s2 a lot but. still? tabitha i only see talked about in relation to jughead. i think legit no one talks about josie except for archosie. everyone forgot about valerie which ig the show did too. veronica gets flattened down to a girlboss with little character depth MUCH more than the other characters do. does anyone ever mention minerva like at all? i wont pretend like joan or melody are allowed to be characters, ignoring them is more than fair but. idk.

Look i am not even a bughead fan and not always agree with your takes, and you can't take everything i said with a grand of salt, but i totally agree with you over t*bitha as character, she was introduced as Ras response for his criticize of the treatment of black characters, as fake performative act of wokeness and she is probably the worse character i ever saw in television since she is a derivation of every other character on the show. Her backstory? A cardboard copy of Veronica, they just changed NY for Chicago and make her parents not be involved with crime bc she can't have flaws, her relationship with Jughead? They took archosie arc of Josie taking care of alcoholic Archie + some bughead aspects as well and mix it in one of the most boring relationship on television, with probably one of the worse chemistry on the show. That end kiss? This should be a goodbye kiss, you would expect Frank and Rachel from bodyguard kind goodbye kiss for a situation like that, but what you got? I good comparation would be like when. Two kids are trying to kiss for the first time so they hold hands and they pout until their lips touch.

I mean this genuinely anon, thanks for being here. Polite dissent is never unwelcome, and my takes are my own. They have always been my own, and people are free to disagree and they are free to exit. Shows a certain maturity to agree with someone one would typically not, kudos to you.

But yeah. Tabitha was unfortunately seemingly brought in as a diversity hire, which, ew, and was never given much of a character. I still maintain that a) she would have been much better recieved if she’d stayed in her Only Sane Man role and not gotten so much screen time and b) JT was the worst thing that could have happened to her.

If she’d stayed in the role that she was in, her lack of deep acting skills would not have shown so much. Veronica’s screen time would not have been cut for her, and the fandom would have liked her more. As it was, they expanded her character to nothing. She was boring at the best of times and intolerable at the worst. And the show literally made her an angel. Like an actual perfect Angel while continually BEGGING us to like her.

JT was an absolute disaster. I don’t even ship it and even I was BEGGING them to find some chemistry and make it less painful to watch them. It really took both characters down. I’ve said it before but it was like someone was holding a lighter in one hand and their paycheck in the other and bringing them together. It was insane. Inexplicable.
