Hi Anna, I know you mentioned a while ago that you had made your own lighting mod so I was wondering if you have a tutorial for how to go about that?

there used to be a great in-depth tutorial for this by lunar-nelfean (which is how i learned to do it, so all credit for the discovery to them), but since they've deactivated their blog i'll make a quick one. for posterity. and google results

Sims 4 Edit World Lighting Tutorial

Navigate to Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4. If you want to change the lighting for an expansion pack world, go to the Delta folder and choose an EP folder. If you want to change the Base Game lighting, go to Data\Shared\Worlds\Areas. BGEngagement 0-3 is Newcrest, all worlds with a GD prefix are Willow Creek and SO prefix is Oasis Springs.

Copy the .world files you want to edit, as you can't save files in your game folder. I recommend saving a backup of the original EA ones too, just in case you don't like your edits and want a clean slate, or want to go back to EA lighting without having to repair your game.

2. Open "World Color Timeline" and click Edit Items.

3. From there, you're off to the races. Change any values you like. The names are mostly are self-explanatory as to what they change. Sometimes you notice a huge difference on changing values, and other times you might not. Some effects (like bloom) are only visible when you have Post Processing Effects on in your settings. You just have to experiment!

It's a bit difficult to visualize what each one of those colors is going to look like in game, so back when I was still planning to make a lighting mod, I spent way too much time making a sheet to help visualize what each color looks like at each time of day for certain values. The top colors are EA's original for San Myshuno, and the bottom is basically a recolor I made by just changing the hue/saturation (I used the eyedropper in Photoshop to get the RGB and changed the values in S4S to match). Hopefully this can help you get a rough idea of what decimal number corresponds to what time of day.

4. Each 'World Timeline Color' represents a season, hence the 4 entries in the box. When you're done editing, if you want the same values for each season, delete the bottom 3 World Timeline Color entries, then copy your edited one 3 times. Change the PointofInterestID. Make sure you have 00000000, 00010000, 00020000 and 00030000. When you're ready, save!

5. To quickly copy your custom lighting to the other neighborhood files for the world, batch export the World Timeline Color file.

Open another neighborhood, click on World Timeline Color and click Import.

6. Save, repeat for the rest of the neighborhood files, and you're done! Drag your edited files into your Sims 4 game folder, replace the existing ones, and go in game to see your changes :D

so sorry for the late answer but you really caught me at the worst time possible with this aka the one weekend in idek how long that I was out of town without my laptop and without internet shjbf :') the short and simple answer is you add a gradient map in whatever colour you want on the text but I don't think I'm good at explaining these things and recommend you check out this tutorial! I'm pretty sure this is the one I used when I first learned how to work with gradient text and it explains everything really well! :)

would you ever post your gifs in higher quality somewhere?

Hi, not sure which gifs of mine you have seen. I started giffing only in Jan 2020 and up till Nov 2020 my gifs were not great cos I had not learnt Photoshop yet. So if u have only seen my old gifs they do look grainy.

But for my newer gifs, I don't have any higher quality hidden in my computer 😂 what you see is the highest quality I can achieve at my current level. I still have much to learn in coloring.

I'm not sure how much about giffing you know, gif is actually not very size efficient compared to video. The larger the dimension or the longer the gif, the file size gets quite large.

Old Tumblr limitation was 2mb, I really respect the giffers from that time who could keep their gifs to such a small size! Current Tumblr limit is 10mb but I personally try to keep it to 5-8mb especially if it's a large gifset. (because it takes longer to load and people may scroll past)

In terms of dimensions I follow Tumblr guidelines and make gifs of max 540 pixels width.

I think Tumblr is trying out converting gif to short videos (recent) I've not tried it myself.

Also, I'm not aware of any better places to post gifs and gifsets? Do share if u know of any.

I personally love gifs and giffing. Gif is special because seeing a scene, or a part of a scene, relentlessly repeating makes you notice things you may never have noticed and endears you more to the character (I love Elsa and Anna like crazy) I love the process of giffing and cutting the scene exactly where I want it. I find myself laughing to myself often when cutting it a particular way leads to hilarious results 😂 and as I have previously shared I love coloring especially Anna's hair. I know this is weird but giffing has also caused me "heartache" many times. I don't mean I was in pain or sad. I mean I was touched so deeply that I just feel so moved about my favorite character.

Photoshop Practice 

Based on the work of Anna Maghradze, I tried replicating her technique she uses to create these invisible figures in her work that I thought was quite interesting to use in my photography. I wasn’t too sure how she was able to achieve this in her work but I experimented with bevel and emboss effect and got somewhere close to it. The idea that I am thinking of working with is leaning strongly towards spirituality and belief. With use of image manipulation, I could bring spiritual stories that I grew up learning about and make them look believable.

Do you have any art tips? Also, What platform do you use for your art?

ngl, i feel kind of silly giving art tips because i really don't know anything lol and my skills are still very Underdeveloped. but here is what I've found most helpful as I've been trying to improve. (these are more general tips rather than specific technical tips—hope that's ok!)

Oh and I use photoshop and a Wacom intuous tablet :)

Use references! I look at references with pretty much every single thing I ever draw lol I’m incapable of drawing purely from my imagination 😭 but using refs is good practice anyway. Sometimes I draw things based on a single reference but often I end up using multiple references for one drawing.

Study art that you like. This has been huge for me! I’m constantly staring at other people's art both out of admiration and for education haha. When I discover an artist whose style i really vibe with, I like to try to break it down and pinpoint exactly what I love about their art and what their strengths are so I can maybe try to incorporate it into my own art. A few of the ones I've probably studied the most are @bugaboo-n-bananoir @anna-scribbles @jooitshere @shishitsunari @celerydays @picayunearts @leviaana @masilvi @buggachat @ladyblargh @yunyin @sabertoothwalrus — all super skilled and talented and i learn a ton just from enjoying their art!

Draw what you want to draw. I don't often draw things just for practice—I draw things because I feel like it. So instead of saying, "Man, I have to practice drawing X thing until I'm really good at it, and then I can finally draw the idea I have," I say, "Okay, I want to draw this thing and it's kind of out of my comfort zone and I don't know how to draw it but I'm going to try to figure it out and learn as I go." This might seem kind of backwards so hopefully it's not terrible advice lol but I've personally found it to be a helpful approach. Drawing purely for practice will definitely help you improve and is probably the method recommended by 9/10 dentists, but I am the 10th dentist who says, "nah i'm just gonna do what i want" alsfkdafj. My skills are limited but I don't want that to stop me from trying stuff, and it's in the trying that I improve. Basically, all the drawings I post are my "practice drawings." Because almost everything I've posted (unless it's like a headshot at a 3/4 angle asdlkfjasjf) was out of my comfort zone a bit and I was not confident i could pull it off but I just tried and worked at it until I thought it looked ok lol

Don’t worry too much about “style.” I feel like a lot of artists (including me) overfocus on finding/developing a consistent art style, but I think it’s better to just draw lots and build your skills and have fun! Your art style will come through naturally as you do that. Also, there’s nothing wrong with variety. Not all your stuff will look the same, and that's okay. And chances are that your style looks more consistent to other people than it does to you. Even if your drawings look different, they’ll all still have your fingerprints on it and feel like you :)

Give yourself credit for the things you create. It's so, so hard not to compare and get discouraged. Everyone suffers from art envy and gets frustrated with themselves—I definitely do—but it's really important to be patience with yourself. Growth is not a linear journey. There will be ups and downs, and that's okay. I probably get the most frustrated with myself for struggling with anatomy/full-body drawings and for taking a million years on every simple-looking drawing lol. But it's helpful to compare my current work/skills with my past work/skills. When I feel like I'm improving at a snail's pace or not at all, it's nice to be able to look back at my older stuff and see that yeah, I still have a long way to go, but I've also come a long way, and I'm capable of going even further. There is a huge gap between where I am and where I'd like to be someday, but I'm working on being inspired by that gap rather than intimidated by it.

@rainycle - goddess of vibrancy, colors that pop, not a trace of noise anywhere in sight. no one works with blues as well as anna does. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, but if there’s one content creator i genuinely look up to and try to learn from, she’s it. (one, two, three)

@hoseosk - an actual giffing wizard. i feel like the rest of us work with photoshop, and while mona claims to work with photoshop too, i’ve yet to see any evidence that she uses anything other than witchcraft to get the clearest, most stunning gifs. (one, two, three)

@userjiminie - i swear, no one shows as much ingenuity, patience and genuine love for what she creates more than rafa. she’s laser-focused when she has an idea and she’ll hunt down every footage that fits, which is why her compilations are the most detailed and heartfelt i’ve ever seen. on top of that, she’s amazing with typography too. @joenns - wish i was kidding but i have the most embarrassing crush on nes’ gifs. one of the most unique colorings with the most unique teals and reds. manages to stay on the vibrant side of gif-making but in the most natural way possible which should be impossible and yet. obsessed with her (gifs). @jjungcooks - one of my favorite coloring styles in the fandom, hands down. all of their gifs feel like candy to me, i don’t know how else to explain it. all of the colors just feel sweet and edible and i most definitely would eat them if i could. everything always looks so warm, even when (or maybe especially!) they work with blues and purples. Józef Poniatowski’s women.

Part II. Three ladies who supposedly tried to seduce him.

First of all, I would like to inform you that the story below looks to be a kind of legend. And there is no hard evidence that it really happened. But some diarists recall it in the Memoirs, that is why I thought it is worth to mention.

So, this is said to be happened also, like the episode of “riding naked”, during the Great Sejm. That time Pepi had an affair with the actress “Zelia” Sitańska. But three most beautiful women of that time Warsaw - Julia Potocka, Rozalia Lubomirska and Barbara Kossowska - were not satisfied with the state of things.

So on prince Jozef’s name day they “bribed the butler for letting them into Poniatowski’s bedroom while the latter was absent, decorated his bed with flowers and clothed themselves as Nymphs”. And when the prince eventually returned home, the Copper-Roofed palace („Pałac pod Blachą”), they appeared in front of him in all their beauty.

But this all, as it turned out, was to no avail, because Pepi came not alone, but with his beloved Zelia. Whom he stately refused to abandon, despite all the pleas. So the ladies had to withdraw, being non the wiser (some diarists even mention, that leaving, the women intentionally broke all the nice things they decorated Pepi’s bedroom with).

So, that’s the story. (As I mentioned before, there is no hard evidence it in fact happened. But if it did, and in the time of the Great Sejm, it could not have happened in the Copper-roofed palace, because Pepi didn’t live there yet.)

And here is a drawing, showing how this “seduction” might looked like, by Maja Berezowska.

(And, of course, I wasn’t able to resist and made a Photoshop from it, using real portraits of people participated.)

But let’s have a close look to the three Nymphs, who failed to seduce Pepi.

Number one, on the right hand side of my creation - Julia Potocka.

Being born in 1767, she was the eldest of the “Three Nymphs”. Here maiden name was Lubomirska (yes, she was a distant relative of the husband of Rozalia, and, btw, a second cousin to prince Józef).

In 1785 Julia married Jan Potocki (the future author of The Manuscript Found in Saragossa). In two next years their two sons were born.

But as for Julia’s feelings towards Poniatowski and her probable participation in the visit - I have great doubts.

Yes, she was considered to be very beautiful (her nickname was “Giulietta la bella”), and everyone was enchanted of how she danced. But together with this Julia Potocka was known a very virtuous woman. Secondly, if there existed a man for whom she could have broken the marital oath it was not Pepi, but his friend, Prince Eustachy Sanguszko.

But the love-story of these two was a very sad one. Several years after the Great Sejm they had to spend abroad, he in Russia and she in France. When they both returned to Poland in 1794 prince Eustachy joined the Kościuszko uprising. And then Julia… died unexpectedly of tuberculosis.

It happened in Krakow, and Eustachy that time was near Warsaw. Having learned about the death of his beloved, he took a vacation under the word of honor. But when he finally got to Krakow, it was too late. The funeral had already started. So the only thing heart-broken Eustachy managed to do later was to get to the tomb with the help of a friendly priest…

The second lady of the trio was Rozalia Lubomirska.

Rozalia was a little bit young than Julia, but by 1789 she was also married (to the prince Aleksander Lubomirski) and had a daughter with him.

Contemporaries remembered the princess Lubomirska as a beauty, with a filigree figure, golden blonde hair and blue eyes. But here participation in Pepi’s seduction either doesn’t seem to look probable.

Because in the summer of 1788 Rozalia left with her husband for Paris, and prince Józef came to Poland from Austria to Poland only in autumn of that year. And when two years later she return to Warsaw she fall in love with another man. His name was Tadeusz Mostowski and it looked like he reciprocated her feelings.

In the fall of 1792, they left for Switzerland almost simultaneously. And a year later, when he had to go France on a diplomatic mission, she followed him.

But during the next year their feelings, it looks like, that faded away. And when in autumn of 1793 Mostowski left Paris, princess Lubomirska decided to stay there alone. And was arrested.

The next six months she spent in prison. Of course, there were some efforts to free her. Made by Mostowski and others. But to no avail. It was said that Robespierre himself had fallen in love with Rozalia, but had been rejected, and for that very reason he was relentless.

Anyway, in June 1794 princess Lubomirska was executed…

So, let’s move to the last “participant” of the visit, Barbara Kossowska.

She was the youngest of the trio, being born in 1770 (though in some sources her birthdate is stated as 10 years before). She was also married, to a man 20 (or even more) years older than her.

And she was the only one of the three, who might have paid a visit to prince Poniatowski to the Copper-roofed palace, because in 1798, when he moved there, she, in comparison with Julia Potocka and Rozalia Lubomirska, was still alive. The diarists recalled how she drew everyone's attention while dancing with Pepi on the balls he arranged.

But even Barbara was not predestined to live long. She died in 1801. It is not known what exactly happened and with whom of her four children, but it looks like she gave her life saving one of them. Because the inscription on her tombstone in Powązki cemetery stated: "This grave hides the body of a virtuous mother, saving the lives of children, she has lost hers".

I am sorry, but the story of third “Nymph” turned out to be sad as well…
