Do you like drive to survive? Do you recommend any season or episode? or better start 5 like that without knowing anything

Hi anon! I used too many words to answer this, as per usual, so read below the cut!

This is a complicated question for me bc DTS is partly how I got into f1 (i was seeing things on tumblr about drivers, and then I binge-watched all of DTS, and tuned into the 2021 season while it was happening).

So I really enjoyed it when I first saw it, but rewatching it now has kind of lost its shine after watching races live and actually understanding what the sport is like. I'm not sure I even remember specific episodes/what season was best, since I saw it all at once.

I feel like maybe seasons 2 & 3 were the best? I wasn't impressed with last season, considering how dramatic the title fight was and how little that came across for me in the show.

If you're a Ferrari fan, it may be either entertaining, painful, or both to watch those episodes (S2 E7, S3 E4). If you're a Charles fan, S1 E8 is all about 'The Next Generation' and has Charles' backstory, which was the first place I learned about his history. If you're a Carlos fan, @.Team55_ on twitter just did a graphic to suggest eps.

I'll also add that S3 E3 was kinda interesting/entertaining to me bc it's all about Valtteri and how it's felt for him being the 'second driver' and you get a sense of what that does to a driver's psyche, which I think a lot of people choose not to understand or consider. Also he's naked in a sauna for part of the ep lol.

That's probably the best I can do for you! Honestly, past seasons might be more enjoyable to watch than the newest one will be if you were following the races last season - I think it just might inevitably be a let down to see how much they omit and which drivers they neglect...

Just keep in mind while you watch that the way they edit the footage + the commentary that's spoken throughout is all in service of adding drama and driver/team rivalries that may or may not exist in reality. DTS has its good parts and its bad parts, but ultimately, take everything with a grain of salt 😂

😍 A Marvellous Light (The Last Binding #1) (Freya Marske, author; David Thorpe, narrator) - LOVE LOVE LOVE - magical Edwardian England, excellent worldbuilding, love a magical bond with a house. also love the sunshine/grumpy dynamic.

🥰 Alley-Cat Quartermaster (Only_1_Truth) - 41K, 00Q - Holmes!Q, lots of action & very solid relationship development garnished with some excellent smut -

😃 Temptation (Leather & Chrome #2) (Kiki Clark) - very satisfying kinky motorcycle club romance

😃 Off The Ice (Michaela Grey) - enemies/rivals-to-lovers hockey romance; a bit of a speed run but still satisfying characters and emotional arcs

😃 Anne's House of Dreams (Anne of Green Gables #5) (L.M. Montgomery, author; Susan O'Malley, narrator) - still love learning how Anne’s life is developing but the ‘actually-written-in-1917-period-typical’ ableism in this one was a lot.

something i’ve been thinking about is that alison and mike are the perfect protagonists for ghosts, and block out a lot of weird stereotypes of main married couples in shows!!

- mike is a good husband to alison and cares about her a lot, even if he makes silly mistakes and doesn’t think things through

- alison lives in a constant state of 10% stressed, but is still a kind and loving partner to mike

- they don’t hate each other!!!!! it’s so common to have couple that just want to kill each other and it’s refreshing to not have that!!!!

- mike helps alison out with the whole ghosts thing and doesn’t make her feel ‘insane’ when she first starts seeing them. he accepts and tries to understand what’s going on, and he does actively make an effort to listen

- they work together VERY well. mike is an opportunities man, and opens the door to different things they could do with the house and the ghosts, and alison refines the ideas and (usually) can try to make them work

- mike is a fantastic fixer when things do go wrong - just look at S2 E3 when he manages to make the garden look presentable to the wedding people!

i just really like them as characters :D
