mc is wrong for assuming that trystan would go back to ny with them (unless they've had this convo before which i don't think they did?) and trystan is also kind of wrong for thinking that mc would stay but only because we should all know that mc won't ever quit being a pi in new york.
i was really excited for book 2, even tho i realized we were gonna have to do this whole drama, but now that we're actually doing it for real...

THIS CHAPTER IS A HYMN TO FOOD
I agree with all those who see this 131st chapter as the one that best represents why Fujimoto's writing is so good, so effective.
But it's so good not just because it's funny and absurd, but because even in the absurdity, we find answers and meaning.
It makes sense that Nayuta and Fami, who are still demons, should act like demons, that they shouldn't be guided by some kind of morality.
It's brilliant, because it's precisely this pseudo morality and duty that we've tried to model on a demon that created the horror that was Makima.
Tumblr media
Fami and Nayuta are based on a connection with humans
In a purely rudimentary logic, demons are the natural hunters of demons being their main cause of death.
The fact that the choice to save humanity is based on food shows that, on the contrary, there is not a shred of humanity among demons, who think instinctively: through hunger and pleasure.
Tumblr media
By a bond, yes, but a functional one
What this chapter tells us about Nayuta is that she is first and foremost a demon, but that she was raised by Denji.
The fact that she automatically refuses because she's got school is great fun, but it also shows that Denji is a good big brother who puts a lot of emphasis on her education.
Just like the fact that he saves up every penny to pay for her university education, because he thinks she's brilliant.
Denji is very self-aware and knows that his lack of education is a weakness because he thinks instinctively.
He also shares Reze's dream of going to school.
If Reze is a laboratory mouse for the USSR, a veritable weapon of war and propaganda, it's because education is a way of avoiding control.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Denji also knows that controlling the demon of control exacerbates her nature and flaws through Makima.
SO, more than a hymn to food, it's a hymn to free will.

I'm so glad you like it and I love all your feed back. Tim would 100% have plenty of trauma that he just. Is *refusing* to address due to starting that identity when he was likely still a teen. Tim having the identity if Jane Doe is also 100% going to help him with coming to terms with all the shifty stuff his family did.
As for Jason, I think he would see Jane refusing to be near him as Jane being skittish, likely due to the many guns he is visibly wearing. He knows he has a reputation as a protector, but he also knows that part of that reputation is that people do fear him. He'll just. Need to give Jane time to relax around him, yeah?
Though I do have a version that ends much worse for everyone. The Bats aren't the first to find out who Jane Doe is. No, Tim makes a mistake. To calm down someone he's friends with after they almost got mugged and he saved them as Red Robin, without thinking he made a joke referencing an inside joke which made the two ladies laugh. Only one problem. Only they and Jane Doe understand that joke because no one else was there. It was just those three. Meaning Jane Doe is Red Robin. Which would logically put N as Nightwing, H as (Red) Hood, and R as Robin with B as Batman.
This also means these two now "know" how the Bats treat Red Robin and they spread word *fast*. Within a week all the Sex Workers who were worried about Jane know and help Jane sneak away whenever they know a Bat is going to be coming by. This also means that almost over night all of the Sex Workers, Bar Owners, and most of the homeless (at least the ones in Jane's area who know him) are refusing to work with any Bats but Red Robin.
They are full on *scared* of Robin because they know he carries a sword, they know he uses it on criminals, and if he's willing to use that sword to nearly kill his own older brother multiple times? Whats stopping him from hurting them if he thinks they're up to something? Batman? The guy who they now believe either used to or still does beat up his own kids? No, they saw what happened before Tim became Robin they *remember*. The ones who flirted with Nightwing are suddenly shunning him or full on sneering at him. They believe he stole his own younger brother's first time (Tim only said N stole something precious that he could never give back and that it hurt very badly. He meant Robin but he couldn't tell them it was Robin) after tricking his younger brother into falling in love with him (Tim told them that Dick was the first person to make him feel truly loved and adored, because this is 100% bad parents Jack and Janet who told him "do whatever it takes to succeed")
There is so much miscommunication in this AU. It's funny and devastating at the same time.
Them finding out before the Bats reminds me of the fics that explore the street kids finding out that Red Hood beat up Robin (a child) even though he promised to never harm kids and to protect them. This causes them to instantly distrust him, and Red Hood is never able to earn their trust again.
I imagine that the sex workers would probably react similarly to Red Hood. Instead of being greeted warmly, suddenly everyone is treating im with caution. That's so much fucking angst for Jason (especially if he finds comfort/support from sex workers due to them helping him when he was homeless).
Also, there might be a time when the sex workers are mad at Red Robin (and some probably stay mad). They see taking a persona of a sex worker as insulting and making light of their situation. Some of them would never do that work if they had choices, which RR obviously has.
Then they start to logic how old he was when he started (he was doing this when he was Robin), how he is actually still selling himself because he performs the work, and that he probably does view it as a necessity. I wonder if there's any misconceptions that Batman knew/knows about RR's activities and whether they would compare that to pimps.
But yeah. They would become almost hostile to all Bats and RH.

Okay, so, i want Gortash in party so badly, here's few things i headcanoned for how it would be. Durge run, because it seems more fitting for me
Tumblr media
- After the destruction of the grove, only Wyll leaves, Karlach stays behind and, when she meets Gortash, gives you an ultimatum: it's either him or her. Gortash's taunts don't help the cause, but in theory you can convince her to just leave without attacking. Afterwards, Gortash joins the party, as he needs to deal with Orin personally.
- You can go to him from any LI, you don't have to be a loner for the whole game.
- The personal quest is tied to the House of Hope. Maybe it's about the contract with the sale of Gortash, not sure yet. If you take him there, you can get unique interactions with almost everyone on the location, when you meet the man who used to be the jailer you have to pass a persuasion/intimidation check so he doesn't raise the alarm and shear everyone at you
- There's unique dialog with Raphael too, even at the deal-making stage (Gortash won't approve it). He mocks Gortash by suggesting him go back "home", calls him by his real last name, and says that he became like that solely because of his upbringing from Rafael. After the deal, you can talk to Gortash about it, he'll snap at you and won't let the subject develop. Full dialog will be after Raphael's death, then the start of the romance can also be...?
- Additional unique dialog when meeting Gortash's parents. In the romance, Gortash will laugh that he invited MC specifically to introduce his dear parents to beloved of their lovely son. At the same time, he will disapprove for trying to contact them by tadpole, and if you do try to talk about it, he will emphasize that they got what they deserved.
- Alternate quest options with the factory and the prison. On both we instead of releasing prisoners on the contrary more oppress them + the opportunity to personally chat with Gortash's subordinates (they will snort that he told them about you all the time, they're sorry for Bhaalites, if you are the same), in addition, if Wyll previously left the party, it's Gortash who gives a quest about the dragon. He also is the main fan of dragons here and with all the polite impossibility to refuse asking to be in a party to go to look at the dragon
- Because of dragons, here are banters with Laezel, where he tries to ask more about them and sighs that he wanted a dragon when he was a kid, but even Bane didn't give him one, and someone in this world talks about justice.
- There's no good route with him. Like at all. Just no. Just like Wyll and Karlach have no evil and they argue and angry when the MC tries to move in that direction, so it is with good and Gortash. If you try to draw an analogy between his slavery and what he does to those around him, he disapprove on 30 points and warns you that okay, you don't remember, but bring it up again and blame yourself. If you try to continue, he gets angry and either attacks or leaves the party, saying that Urge has really changed too much.
- If you come to Sarevok with him, a free dose of grandfatherly grumbling is assured. If there is romance, he can also start mentioning how much Urge admired Gortash, which will give Gortash a satisfied grin. With Orin, if Gortash is in the party, it will be much harder to save the hostage (checks 30+-) and after the duel, your father will additionally condemn your choice of the chosen one (but I would like this with all romances, not just with the Gortash personally).
- The butler doesn't call him by name, but keeps telling that his lord/lady deserves much better than this. Gortash finds it funny
- He doesn't die at the brain like stupid, instead he can meet Emperor again. Thinks that becoming illythid is stupid if there's already a squid here, and after all it would be easy to betray him. Also in the finale gives the ability to summon a squad of Steel Guardians. Of course, will agitate to become an Absolute
- If you still destroy brain, then obviously romantic dialog after the finale, where he sighs that okay, to rule the world is still a little failed, but you two will practice for now on one city.

Any thoughts on Pebblefoot (Minnowtail's brother)? I had an AU with him when I was 16-ish and I've been weirdly attached to that little nobody ever since
Not too many, he's open to suggestions if he's your blorbo. Here's the downlow on BB!Pebblefoot at the moment though;
One of the VERY first episodes of Po3 is the Shinewater Plague. It's pulled up from TNP, so there's more time to dedicate to the WindClan Civil War.
In coming to help RiverClan with the illness that breaks out as a result of the oilspill, Hollypaw realizes she isn't cut out for the life of a Cleric. She is grossed out by the details of sick cats, and finds herself "in her element" when she's leading and commanding, not caring and nurturing.
Patient Zero of the Shinewater Plague is, famously, Tumblekit. Pebblefoot and Minnowtail's sibling, who Minnow dared to drink the shiny poison.
Pebble unfortunately blames Minnow for this. I see him as kind of a hardass, but also, he's not TOTALLY wrong
He doesn't really like "fun" and has trust issues. A stickler for the rules because, well, he didn't follow the rules once and he lost a littermate and was horrifically sick for a week.
Minnowtail's strained relationship with her surviving brother, plus the guilt she feels for how Tumblekit died, is a contributing factor for why she ends up in the Dark Forest.
And it makes Mousewhisker more attractive to her. He doesn't hold grudges, he's super easygoing and is a little bit vain, in a funny way.
He loves looking like he's tough, liked to mention his mentor Iceheart, generally he thinks he's a coolguy! But he's actually LAME.
And that makes him endearing. Ok toughboy. I don't think toughboys spend 15 minutes adjusting their hair in the reflection of a lake.
Pebblefoot disapproves of this, if he finds out any of this before Mouse eventually joins RiverClan much, much later (probably BB!ASC)
He's not ESTRANGED from Minnowtail, just critical of her and strained. He thinks she makes awful choices and deserves to be confronted about them
Pebblefoot has the sort of personality that will be VERY useful in the Impostor's crusade in BB!TBC.
Funny enough, it's a very similar personality to his grandfather, Swansong. They're confident and kind of rude, but Pebble has different life experience that has caused him to have different political opinions.
His uncle and aunt, Stonestream and Willowshine, are less than a year older than he is. I feel like he's pretty close to Stonestream for some reason.
Pebble's mother Dawnflower claimed Queen’s Rights for her litter. Her mate has a little split in the fur at the end of his tail, which gave Minnow and Pebble a false "flipper"
He was probably a Tribe cat, or maybe a loner. Dawnflower isn't interested in anyone in RiverClan, and lived through TigerClan which has made her not entirely trust the "protection" of the Queen’s Rights.
So she probably didn't even know his name, honestly. Didn't WANT to know it.
Dawn has her family, but going through that situation, seeing her uncle get slaughtered in front of a cheering crowd, having your rebel leader die after refusing to snitch out everyone's names including yours and saving your life...
She's traumatized. Acts in emotional self-defense a lot.
Pebble and Minnow probably grew up very aware of that.
I'm not sure when Pebblefoot dies, but it's probably NOT going to be in the great big storm of BB!ThunderClan's Tempest. I have use for him.

MCD Headcanons:
-Laurance and garroth are 100% Malechi and Levins father figures
This isn’t even a HC imo but malechi is laurances adopted son and levin is garroths and that’s all there is to it honestly
- Travis is flirty completely by accident.
Due to his isolation from the village for their own safety, Travis had to find other ways to spend his time. Eventually, he started reading various books from his mother’s old collection as well as from various townspeople and the occasional abandoned ship. Most of these novels just so happened to be romance novels and as such he began to start speaking like the dialogue in the books he read. He obviously knew the townspeople didn’t speak like his books had, but they were the closest thing he had to an outside perspective given the cursed seas and the demon warlock kept him there. So it’s no surprise that he used the same flirtatious personality he had developed upon meeting both Aphmau and Laurance. Later along the line he just kept it up because it was funny to him. (Later season 2 goes against this and I’m well aware but I just try to think the best of Travis)
-the jury of the nine willingly surrender themselves to memory suppression magicks
In s2 ep34 Katelyn says “he wasn’t even supposed to keep his memory of Abby, but he did and look where that got him.” I’d like to think that this implies that most jury members allowed Zane to use memory suppression on them that also makes it so members aren’t emotional so that they aren’t vulnerable. Unlike most members Jeffory did not undergo this process as it’s not entirely mandatory but Zane likely strongly suggested it. However because he knew Abby would be utterly alone without him, Jeffory refused to allow his memories to be repressed. Other than Jeffory, all other jury members did undergo this process but it only lasts as long as they are a member of the jury. Hence why Katelyn slowly became more and more emotional post losing her position.
- Janus the Silver Death uses They/He pronouns
When Katelyn talks about Janus in season 2 episode 79 she fluctuates between they and he pronouns. There was a fluctuation between the two and I’m not sure if it was on purpose or not as like a writers choice, but it happened enough times for me to conclude that Janus uses They/He pronouns <3
-Katelyn and Ivy dated
In season 2 episode 91 ivy says “did you miss me love?” And while she says things like darling to anyone using specifically love stuck out?? Idk? But if they dated it was definitely for a short span and with a messy breakup that was likely caused by ivy taking things way too far. She also further added onto this behavior post breakup.
-Lo is the descendant of Kul’Zak or Menphia
I know Lucinda looks a lot like Menphia in a lot of ways, but honestly with Lo accompanying Aph to the Tu’Lah region and it all lining up the way it did it makes sense? Honestly though I don’t feel like he aligns with her title of the fury which is where kul’zak comes in. His title was that of the wanderer and honestly I could fully see Lo meeting that title, but that’s just about all I can say for him. Maybe there was more we never knew? Maybe his defense of his girls was representative of his “fury” but honestly it’s up for debate. I definitely believe he was tied to one of the relics though in some way shape or form.
Finished my MCD rewatch and heres everything I made HC’s for from season 1 to season 3 🎀
(I don’t make these often but I wanted to write these ones down)

And Then?
im still SICK so if you see any typos, no you didn’t tw: blood Uhm, yeah, here’s the next part of the other drabble! If you’re lost, you should probably read that one first. [doc] —
This must be what divine intervention feels like, was the first thought that passed through Aelium’s mind when he woke up, not on the floor, but in a bed softer than anything he’d ever laid on.
For a time that felt like eternity he was surrounded by vast nothingness that even swirled through him at times, if he made a sound in that nothingness it did not reach his ears, nor did his lips move. Eternity was not enough time for him to catch his bearings, because before he knew it he was awake, in this bed, with a blanket thrown over his head.
Didn’t he die?
There were two voices murmuring with each other somewhere else in the room, but he refused to pull the covers up from his head to find what fresh hell Persep’d sent him to. He died, didn’t he?
“The fuckin’ puppet broke my phone, and I think he did something to my other connections, I can’t really call anyone that can deal with this.” Was the first voice, it was one he’d never heard before, but it sounded more annoyed than anything about the situation.
“I don’t even think I know anyone that has half an idea how to deal with something like this.” Came the response, a voice crowned by the grogginess of someone that deserved to be brumating peacefully, not being bled for however many days and nights that he was. Areios sighs. “Zeke, none of it makes any sense. Can’t we just burn the body?”
“If you say he died before and came back, I don’t think we should try to leave it to a simple burning.”
Areios groaned.
Poor thing. They must be talking about Persep, though Aelium couldn’t fathom why Persep would be the one that died. He was very clearly not the one that was stabbed in the heart.
At that thought, he reached up to touch his chest and found only the memory of having been stabbed; A fresh scar. The movement caused his hand to throb something awful, and he was reminded also that he’d broken thumb. His thumb was still broken, but the wound over his chest was closed up.
That didn’t make sense either. He did not enjoy playing in Persep’s world.
“Looks like your friend is up.”
The movement must have gotten the attention of the owner of the unknown voice and what came next was the sound of Areios lumbering over to his side, before he knew it he was wrapped up in his arms.
“Aelium, are you okay?”
He only nodded into his chest as the blanket was removed from his head. Then he caught a glimpse of the blue haired human that stood over his twin, now bound where Areios was.
“This one is breathing, too.” He said without turning to see the reunion of the two purple bloods. “Let me figure out what to do here.”
“I can call our ancestor.” Aelium whispered with an impossibly small voice, unsure.
Zeke laughed.
“Great, more Lycaons. It’s not like we have much of a choice here. Call ‘em up.”
By the time Thanat arrived, Persep was definitely awake. The unperturbed human had the foresight of blindfolding him before he woke up, “So he’s not tempted to do anything funny,” Zeke’d said as he did it.
Bound and blindfolded like that, Aelium found that he was much less intimidating. He didn’t seem fit for a conversation though, so silence was what he, Areios, and Persep sat in when Zeke walked into the room with their elder.
Thanat wasted no time crossing into the room and stopping directly in front of his blindfolded descendant, the scowl he sported was mostly obscured by his hair, but Aelium’d spent enough time with the pair of them to know it was there.
“Hey there, Embalmer. You’re late.”
“You must have forgotten to send out my invitation.”
“I figured you’ve been busy enjoying the company of The Evocator. You’re welcome, by the way.”
Even Aelium knew this was a sore subject, but what he could not anticipate was what came next. A growl ripped out of Thanat’s throat, and he snatched Persep up to his feet by the hair. The usual serenity their ancestor carried with him was swept out of the room as the growl increased in intensity.
Persep has a way of bringing out the worst in the other Lycaons, it seems.
“So,” Zeke interjected, leaning around the growling reaper to get his attention, as though this was all nothing more than a minor inconvenience. “Areios said that he stabbed Aelium in the chest and then fainted. That’s weird, right?”
The growling stopped almost immediately. “Is that so?”
There was no answer, and in the sudden silence, Thanat leaned over to grab the previously discarded knife from the floor.
“Is that so?” He repeated when he didn’t get the answer that he was looking for, then he shook Persep by the hair to indicate from whom he’d expected the answer. Persep only tried, fruitlessly, to pull himself free instead of answering. “Very well.”
In one clear stroke, the knife that ended Aelium’s life once again found itself spilling Lycaon blood. A darkness draped itself over the Embalmer and from the angle Aelium and Areios watched him slit Persep’s throat, it was hard not to see the resemblance the two held. Dark eyes, and a smug sense of satisfaction crossed his features.
Aelium and Areios watched in stunned silence, but Zeke laughed, a little hysterical.
“Fuck, I mean, you’re kidding right? Aren’t there rules to this shit?”
Perseps head lulled, only held firm by the hold Thanat had on it, and for all intents and purposes, he seemed to be well and truly dead. A second later he gasped for air and seemingly regained his faculties.
Once again, Aelium found himself touching the new scar on his chest, and once again fear started to cloud his thoughts, tugging at his resolve.
“I actually died?” He mumbled, so small that only Areios could hear him. The behemoth responded by pulling him in close. Nothing in Persep’s world makes proper sense, he wanted so badly to wake up from this nightmare.
“There are rules,” Thanat mused, ignorant to Aelium’s question, as he carelessly dropped Persep to the ground. “He already broke one.”
“Congratulations, pest.” He spit down at the troll down by his feet. “You’ve tethered your immortality.” The statement was accompanied by a kick to the ribs that no one in the room was expecting.
Persep swallowed something that sounded like a mix between a laugh and a cry, mutated by the new slit in his neck. The slit that, with the sickening sound of skin squelching against skin, seemed to be mending itself.
Aelium and Areios held each other tightly, or as tightly as they could given the exhaustion the day’s events left behind.  Aelium noted the way the giant’s arms quivered around him.
“He’s a reaper, then?”  Zeke clarified, not for himself, but the two in the room that’d been forcefully thrusted into this world. “Just like that?”
“Just like that.” The Embalmer echoed calmly, with his attention now on someone other than his disgrace of a descendant, the clear animosity that poisoned his features melted away. “I really do not know how he did it.”
“That’s really fucked up.” Zeke mumbled.
An uncomfortable silence settled around the five of them, leaving them all to stew in the gravity of what this all meant. Aelium struggled to understand the nuance of what being a reaper meant. And why wouldn’t he? It wasn’t as though any of this made even a lick of sense.
Persep died sweeps ago, he should still be dead.
Aelium himself was just stabbed in the heart, and there was clearly no medical intervention, he should be dead.
He groaned at the headache that started to throb stronger and stronger, this caused Areios to attempt to tighten his hold on him. Selfishly, he drank in the fact that Areios didn’t seem to hold any of this against him.
Maybe he’d never held anything against him after all.
“Can you spell this out for those of us present that have no idea what being a reaper means?” He asked, voice partially muffled into the chest of his giant friend.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head too much, Leli.” Persep said as he brought himself to his feet, his blindfold now undone and slipping to the ground, with a saccharine smile and smugness that made him sound much too happy. “It was not exactly how I planned, but it just means I’ll be here for a while.”
“Yeah, that’s what immortal means. Thanks.” The human, that Aelium wished he had half the backbone of, said in a voice that dripped with sarcasm. “Basically, he found a way to break his bind to a very powerful God — Thazilis must be pissed off by the way — and the universe reconciled that by tethering him to itself.”
Aelium strained to look at Thanat for confirmation, who only nodded along solemnly.
“That doesn’t sound like good news.”
“It’s not good news, it’s like, medium news?” Zeke responded, also turning to look at Thanat, he nodded again. “It means he can’t hurt or kill people anymore, which I guess are his main hobbies?”
Perseps silence was starting to get to Aelium, so he turned his troubled gaze to his twin. Persep was standing at his full height, the chains that offered Aelium the peace of mind that held him together, were undone and pooled at his feet.
Though Thanat seemed unbothered by this, his hand immediately held firm in the younger man’s hair again, keeping him in place, he couldn’t help but be a little nervous that his twin was no longer so thoroughly restrained.
“That’s why he passed out when he stabbed you in the heart. Killing a mortal is the biggest no-no for a reaper, and the universe was correcting his misstep.”
The human kept droning on about rules and reaper responsibilities, but the only thing that throbbed louder and louder in his ears was the confirmation that he did, in fact, die. For a few moments, just a few moments.
He died for a few moments.
His head started spinning, the smell of the blood on his shirt finally started to suffocate him.
When’d the room get so hot? Why couldn’t he make sense of anything Zeke was saying about Persep’s new lot in life? He screamed for everything to stop, for everyone to shut up, but the sound just rattled around in his skull instead of leaving his lips.
For the second time this evening, Aelium passed out, this time his fall was broken by the behemoth that held him so securely.

Do you have any South Park hot takes/unpopular opinions? 👀
Both for the fandom and the show itself
Hmm... well I haven't like thought of it too much cause I don't like to get involved in the fandom itself when it comes to discourses! I suppose my unpopular opinion is that I truly don't take south park seriously! I see it as it is. Completely satire with the purpose of making jokes about real world problems and getting out some laughter from it. That's how I see the episodes with no shipping goggles until after when I can actually just enjoy the content people make out of it and go crazy with theories and hcs for fun and enjoyment jhshqhsjs
I also see it meanless to pin people down when it comes to fictional ships nothing justifies a person sending d3ath threats/harassment to a REAL person over something that ISN'T real. And I dislike how people disrespect others when it comes to them actually liking the show for what it is. Technically when fans take fanon as legit from canon! fans shitting on people who don't go by their fanon/ship over them going with canon.
The other day I was reading a post about fans shitting on cryle. Dude it's fictional they're not doing any harm whatsoever! Creek is canon shipping that specific ship is not gonna take that away just like it won't take away stendy for shipping style:)
Please, I just can't. I cannot comprehend when fans take fanon too seriously.
Also— when people make Kyle ultra feminized. I'm sorry for those who do and like, idc if you do but I just personally don't like it. Same with Tweek. I just keep my distance and mind my own business. There's no need to be disrespectful for those who see/take things very differently than you and that's okay as long as you don't cause any harm or force anyone with them:"D
All the kids are assholes. Actually the whole town is! Cartman is an ass, yes. His character is intended to be an antagonist but that doesn’t take away the other shit anyone else from the show has done:)
Butters is a dick! He ain't no pure uwu boy he has his moments and IS friends with Cartman even if some say he's a victim. Like, it's shown in the show when Butters can't take Cartman's shit anymore he stops playing around! (In his own way he gets back at Cartman. Like that video tape of him dancing with a cut out of Justin timberlake, taking his hotdog business away or dragging cartmans ass back to the bus refusing to let go of his hand.) And he also finds Cartman bigoted comments funny too.
Besides, Victor was not a creation by being abused from Cartman in PC. Butters created that person for himself as a copping machine from taking ALL of the boys shit (bullied from everyone) (he literally points out all the other main boys issues in that Hawaiian ep atleast Stan and Kyle. Not just Cartman.) and IS a victim from his parents. It was a choice Butters made for going the Victor route being influenced by the environment he had to endure.
Also Liane is a bad mother she is no sweet angel. She has been shown to be more stricter in recent seasons but that doesn’t erase the fact that she has done shit to Cartman just as much as he has done to her. Maybe even more:"D
People who want Cartman d3ad is like asking for Garrison, Randy (and anyone that goes against their fanon) gone. It takes the essence of the show entirely. Cartman is literally south park.
Besides, if Cartman isn't there who do you guys think would be pin as the new asshole in town? Everyone there is shitty, the possibility is endless:)))) (main three?? Stan, Kyle, Kenny:333)
I dislike the fatphobia in this fandom. No more take on this cause this is a sensitive subject I do not want to take part of!
Main boys ARE Cartman's friends. It's as obvious as day those three care in their own way. That one percent episode they literally went to ask the kids they thought were the cause of the fire to stop harassing their friend. People who don't care wouldn't even bother to intervene.
Liking a bad character doesn't make you a bad person! I personally like Cartman, he's my favorite. I can admit he has problems and is very problematic! And I would never follow by all the shit he says, realistically I would NOT be around a person like that. However the way he's written drove me to like him and the fact that he's just a fictional character~ also PC has proven that Cartman can change:)
Just a reminder that these are just my takes! No one has to follow them or am I attempting to shove my opinions onto anyone. And they're not always consistent. My views on things change a lot.
I love reading diffrent opinions on things, hc's, ships just as much as I like to read when it comes to character analysis, lore, theories. I'm opened to listen and take diverse opinions from the show/fandom.
This is fictional it's not real! So I would never take it to heart:) <3
Sorry this is mostly about the fandom I truly have nothing against the show unless being tired of the tegrity farm gag 😭🤣
Also my bad for the long rant malu (I did not intend for this to be long) 💀

Danny phantom Fic Recs
This list will include all ratings and tags, so read at your own discretion! :)
Ecto Upgrade Start by GothMoth - Rated G
Danny’s growing up and his bodies doing the typical adultifying things, but also doing some… not so typical adutlifying things.
Deep Sea Diver by Marsalias - Rated G
Tumblr prompt by dannyphantom-rework: Ghost zone is like the ocean, in the sense that the deeper you go into it, the scarier and darker it becomes.
Electricity by DarkNymfa - Rated G
Tucker huffed, disgruntled. “Yeah, uh huh. I’ll believe that when you stop having live electricity running down your arms.” “Technically,” Danny said, lips twitching into a smirk, “it’s dead electricity.”
when the kingdom comes calling by blueh - Rated T
The Observant hardly looks rattled at the threat. If anything, the thing seems even more determined to get Danny to go through with this absolute bullshit plan to make him, someone who is half human, king of the ghosts. “Follow me to the Infinite Realms for your coronation. You are under obligation to meet the council at Pariah’s Keep where you shall receive the Crown of Fire and the Ring of Rage. It is what the council wishes.” “No,” Danny snaps. “I have an English test next period with Mr. Lancer.” “This is no time for your silly human games—" Danny slams the locker in its eye. also known as: the Ghost Zone population assumes that Phantom took the crown with dignity. What they don’t know is fifteen year old Danny Fenton just wants to graduate high school, is constantly ready to throw hands with an army of eyeballs, and absolutely will not be crowned the Ghost King without a fight.
Drizzling by TakingOverMidnight3482 - Rated G
There was a peace to the rain, Danny had found. A sense of quiet, where no one attacked. No one ventured out to cause trouble. Where the Earth, for one second, was being healed and healing those around it.
Shift by Alexa_Piper - Rated T
It turns out that the views of Agents O and K are not held by the rest of the Guys in White… which they discover when they bring in a fourteen-year-old half-ghost kid for "painful experiments".
Smells Like Team Spirit by UnluckyAlis - Rated G
Some mascots are great at pumping up a crowd. As Casper High's mascot, Danny has only one job: strike fear into the hearts of their opponents. This is the story of how Danny becomes the famed Mascot of Fear.
Of Tweets and Twats by DarkNymfa - Rated T
Too Fine @BurgersKing @nasafan your parents don’t have a website for Fentonworks? | 🌟✨⭐ @nasafan have you met my parents? | Too Fine @BurgersKing fair point I will cease speaking
Stargazer by Mysterious_Prophetess - Rated G
Inspired by this tumblr post by floralflowerpower where Danny is a NASA astronaut, and famous too, but in order to join NASA he had to change his name to distance himself from his....less well regarded Parents and Sister. Years later, when his real name Fenton is pulled from its grave, Danny refuses to disavow his parents' line of work.
Ancient Alexandria: Not-So-Ancient Apparently by piece_of_pierce - Rated T
Danny has a new homework assignment. Specifically, he's supposed to theorize about the ectobiology of ghosts then make a presentation about it. Who needs to theorize, though? He has access to all the research in the Zone! Now, where can he actually access that research?
Bet on it by thatgirl_youknowtheone - Rated T
Danny's parents find out about Wes' theories, as Maddie and Walter talk it out in the principal's office, Danny and Wes are stuck in the hallway listening. "Your son might think it's just some funny joke, but I will not have anyone accusing my son of being that lying, manipulative, piece of ectoplasmic scum!" Danny sank lower in his chair, face tightening with every word. "You know they wouldn't say that stuff if they knew the truth." said Wes.
Make the Call by Library_of_Cronos - Rated T
The five times CPS was almost called on the Fentons and the one time Jazz called them herself.
Poor Life Choice by princessFanona - Rated G
A situation where Danny dies (not the portal accident) in a public setting and everyone freaks the heck out, but then he gets up as if nothing happened. (PR339) Danny happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time...or maybe not. Depends on how you look at it.
Ringback by kelpeigh (chitaqua) - Not Rated
“I think we’re on hold.” a soft voice hedges. Four hoods twist as the group looks to their youngest member. She continues, “This is just a ringback tone. Don’t you have one, Steph— uh, Shadowlux?” “You’re right.” The cloaked man next to her answers. “We’re totally on hold.” - A summoning au where Danny can only be summoned as Phantom, and anyone who tries when he's human has to wait until he happens to go ghost again.
Is This Just A Thing that Girls Do? by newdog14 - Rated T
“Yeah, and about that,” The Ghost King said, pinching the bridge of nose in frustration. “You found an archaic book of magic with a summoning spell for the Ghost King, who you believed to be evil, and then you used said spell to bring me here and bind me to answer questions, and you did this so you could ask me about a middle schooler’s crush?” “We also want to know what the secret of life is,” Cori said, crossing her arms defensively. “42,” he answered without hesitation.
Growing Pains by ayjayar - Rated G
Jazz has had the world's nastiest case of pink eye. The doctor is starting to suspect it's not actually pink eye. When Danny notices her eyes glowing, the Fentons seek second opinions from unlikely sources.
after school summons by blueh - Rated T
"So this is the fabled Ghost King," the man says like he expected better. Danny feels he should almost be offended if it isn't for the tiny detail that these cultists—who summoned him by using salt and goat bones—assume he is the ghost king. "…Did you seriously confuse me with Pariah Dark?" The man pauses. "Pariah Dark?" "Yes! He's like fifteen feet tall, has a huge sword, is a pain in the ass, and has, like, an entire ghost army. I have, I dunno, pre-calc homework in my bag. We are not the same." Or: Danny accidentally gets summoned. He’s not happy about it.
The Tattooed Defeat by Sergeant_Tears - Rated T
Ghosts get tattoos whenever they defeat a new enemy. Danny surprisingly never got these. Until he did... but not as Phantom.
inviso-doodles by attu - Rated T
What are friends for if not making you internet famous?
Animals by Marsalias - Rated T
Most humans of Amity Park did not appreciate what Danny did for them. (The animals were another story.)
Side Effects by redrobin1989 - Rated T
Side effects of activating a ghost portal to another dimension while inside include: fatigue, nausea, vomiting, headache, tremors, hypothermia, loss of visibility and tangibility and ectoplasmic glowing. If left untreated, these symptoms may lead to death or permanent physiologic changes.
Proof of Identity by Clari_net23 - Rated G
Detective Harris just wants to find out who the ghost boy is.
"'Doctor, I'm a ghost. There's a reason I'm doing this in a morgue and not a regular clinic.'"
'Touche.'
Detective Harris felt the beginnings of a headache in her temple. All she wanted from this was his identity. She didn’t think it would be this much of a challenge when the chief brought up this assignment. "

i want to hear the chess hcs!!!!
OH MAN. HOLD ON.
OKAY! If you're like a chess nerd and expected me to list down their favorite opening moves and stuff I'm so sorry I don't know the names. "Horsie go hehe and horsie go haha" , "average NPC move" , "OPEN UP THE GATES!!" is what I call some of the opening moves. I refuse to learn the names.
also like I'm a pretty mid chess player but I have some silly little headcanons for all stars anyways!
I like to think that all stars are all decent at chess and have a good win-loss ratio, generally understanding how the game works and stuff.
Kidou: He's literally the strategist of the field did you expect me to come up here and say yes Kidou Yuuto genius playmaker is bad at chess. that would be funny but no.
Instead, he always loses to Endou, no matter what. He often tries to bait Endou but Endou always missed the bait and just goes for the more obvious choices, revealing holes in Kidou's moves. it's very frustrating to Kidou but he appreciates Endou showing the faults in his plays, Even if Endou is unaware of it.
fave to go against:
-Atsuya, his fast-paced high-risks playstyle intrigues Kidou and he wants to see how fast he can keep up with him.
-Gouenji, Kidou likes messing with him <3
Gouenji : Exception on the "win-loss ratio"; Overthinking too much in matches, which usually causes the opponent to find a simpler solution to his convoluted plan. He was so sure that his delicate process would work and if he were able to do it it would've looked so cool (Note that his exception only counts when playing against all stars/people he knows well. he still overthinks but his overthinking pays off most of the time.)
Gouenji likes to take his time making his moves which makes it tougher when they decide to do blitz rounds, he hates blitz rounds he always gets very shaky afterwards.(Part of the reason they tend not to do blitz rounds unless Gouenji insists on it or its Atsuya VS Kidou)
fave to go against:
-Kazemaru, Kazemaru doesn't take chess too seriously until it's a blitz match.
-Shirou, their playstyles match very well with one another
Endou : Exception on the "General understanding of the game"; Endou doesn't understand and chess doesn't understand him either. He has sketches of the chess moves he could make on the side since he's easy to forget what moves the pieces make. He has a general idea of it but it still manages to slip past his mind.
Despite this he has never lost against all Kidou ever, which makes him the unofficial reigning champion.
fave to go against:
-Kidou. he finds it funny how frustrated Kidou gets when playing with him, even if he is very lost on how to play.
He just loves it when All stars overthink their moves against Endou and Endou ends up winning, he finds it very funny and it's the reason he hadn't given up on understanding chess yet.
Atsuya: fuckieinfnekl ate the chess pieces /j
Genuinely very good at the game, loves blitz matches the most. Likes to play fast and swift, making very risky moves in most cases. Against Kidou he slows down a little to think about his moves more, One time the two got locked in a 3hr match, having to call it off for the day since it was getting late, but continuing it first thing in the morning.
fave to go against:
-Kidou, same reason as Kidou. He wants to see how fast Kidou can keep up with him, often taunting that he can't. it's all for fun though, is what they say, but the room smells like someone's going to die whenever they're against each other.
-Kazemaru, While Kazemaru CAN keep up with the speed, Kazemaru can't keep up with the moves at all times unlike Kidou. Atsuya still enjoys playing against him anyways.
Refuses to go against anyone but Kidou and Kazemaru.
Shirou: also very good, but he prefers slower games as opposed to Atsuya's fast-paced playstyle. Also less likely to take more risks depending on how the match is going.
faves to go against:
-Endou: his light-hearted playstyles make for calm matches, Shirou likes teaching Endou over and over again on how to play chess and is generally very patient with him.
-Gouenji: the right amount of pressure when being put against someone to play chess, otherwise Atsuya goes against them/Instructs Shirou on what to do.
Kazemaru: Most of the time just watches everyone else play while tallying up the scores/moves, But when he does play he's pretty flexible for all styles of playing. He loves playing blitz the most but doesn't mind slowing down everyone once and a while.
faves to go against:
-Atsuya: He likes the challenge Atsuya brings by making really risky moves and having to make up his mind on a move against it in quick successions.
-Endou: He likes attempting to find out what's going on in that brain of his, and while most of the time he succeeds against Endou, he never succeeds on finding his thought process.

so what's crabfic and how'd it get the name?😺
omg hi yes crabfic my beloved... it is my character study type fic about sinclair and their gender issues in the months leading up to that christmas and how they intertwine with the fears of the prosthetics surgery and growing up <3 centering around the relationships they have with their sister and of course demian and kromer
it is slow going but i think it's about half done - kinda unsure how to end it bc well. part of it is is the simple fact the gender issues go unresolved for much longer. but it's been really fun to be so self indulgent with it, it's truly my ideal little world of headcanons and themes I want to see explored. really love how well demian's "i want to see your full potential be realized" thing works in the context of giving increasingly weird, metaphorical advice about this and kromer being a source of both envy and doubt in sinclair as they have very mixed feelings on wanting to be more like her while she also wants sinclair to be, well, her sinclair and so she causes a lot of their self hatred <3 yayyy~ limbus making kromer a girl was so great bc i think sinclair being drawn to the world of darkness And getting weird gender envy from her is just so good... and then they also made her an insufferable fascist so she's also transphobic To Me and it all feels so in line with sinclair's character to get roped into All That Nonsense on their journey of self discovery
the crab thing comes from the fact i believe all my fics need some weird thing for demian to go wikipedia boyfriend mode about and in this one it is hermit crabs. using them as a metaphor for moving forward in life and how picking how you want to move forward doesn't have to be a permanent choice that has the ability to ruin everything - instead the crabs can pick from their shells and if they're not comfortable they can find another one with no harm done and the only thing that will hurt them is refusing to acknowledge that they are outgrowing their past. demian is doing his best to urge sinclair forward but both of them are doing a weird little dance around each other where sinclair still doesn't want to talk about their fears of the surgery and demian doesn't want to reveal he Knows everything more or less. really funny convo happens at some point where Demian is like ^^ oh don't let your fear of your family's reaction stop you, after all they could just all die one day and then what would you do? and Sinclair is like ._. uhm. I don't want to think about that. actually.
sighs wistfully... i love you demisin... world's funniest couple ever, weirdest little nonbinary bisexuals in the world. I've had to cut out many bits that get too romantic bc I'm trying to keep it away from being too shipfic-y i want it to stay more sinclair focused but like of course demian is like "i have a non normative experience with gender myself, (5 minute ramble about gender and crabs)" and sinclair is like (so in love it physically hurts) "would you love me if i was a worm hermit crab?"

And the sadness continues.
(Almost) everyone immediately abandoning Valjean because of his past? Fantine being buried in an unmarked grave in spite of Valjean’s attempts to care for her? Absolutely devastating.
There were many highlights as well, though. I think it’s very funny that some people continue to think Valjean’s punishment is just not because he’s an ex-convict, but because they think he’s a Bonapartist. I also love that he casually talks about breaking out of prison and specifically takes the bread with him. Even better, it’s referred to as the “prison-bread” and is used as evidence of his flight.
Sister Simplice lying for Valjean – in spite of her beliefs – is also really moving, although I wish it hadn’t come after Hugo said the recent shock had made her return to being “a woman” rather than “a nun.” Given that he specifies she should be in Heaven, though, I think it can still overall be understood as a statement on the dangers of being absolutist in one’s morals. Sister Simplice’s refusal to lie is admirable in most cases, but we’ve already seen how she has to stretch what counts as a lie to be merciful; she let Fantine believe Valjean had gone to find Cosette so that she would have hope, even though she didn’t know if that was true or not. And here, the truth would have been cruel. She would have condemned Valjean when he was trying to make sure Fantine (who she regards as an innocent) was cared for after her death and that his money went to a good cause. Her lie is described as a sacrifice, but it ultimately remains a moral one.
In contrast, Javert’s sense of morality and order is so rigid that he thinks it’s impossible for Sister Simplice to sin just because of her identity (a nun). Knowing the situation she was in, we can tell that for her, either option available would have been sinful: lying to conceal Valjean (the sin of dishonesty) or revealing his presence (a sin against Fantine, and against Madeleine as she has always known him). Regardless of one’s goodness, it’s always possible to face a dilemma with no good choices. (We’ve also seen this with Valjean, who had to choose between condemning Champmathieu or himself; while his ultimate decision seems to be the right one, he wasn’t wrong to weigh the loss of Mayor Madeleine in that, given how quickly the town’s focus on his ideals disappeared). Javert is unable to understand that because he sees the world in absolute terms: the law is good and disobedience to it is bad. Everyone’s identity is fixed, with the poor risking becoming criminals at any moment (and thus meriting worse treatment) and the authorities (religious, political, economic, etc) are permanently respectable.
I also like the distinction made between what Valjean requests of the curé and what he does (even if it’s sad). Although he does at least give the money to the poor, we also see how he automatically devalues Fantine and Valjean for their social status, rather than acting on their inherent worth as people. He’s not the most corrupt religious official we’ve seen mentioned; he’s not even corrupt, exactly. But he’s subject to the prejudices of the society around him, and that affects his ability to be equally compassionate to everyone.

Apparently telling someone that the issue isn’t the Harry Potter game and wishing death on every player isn’t okay. And that the real issue is the governments especially the US one and asking why they aren’t getting angry at them. Commenting to the governors instead of getting mad at strangers online who don’t want to crucify their 50+y dads. Could result in them proving they are worse then the game players.
(There is a poll at the bottom)
Telling someone you will watch as they get raped and killed doesn’t make you a good person. I believe people mad about the game are good people. Y’all have reason to be. I just look at the situation differently that the government is a hugely different problem. And it’s proving so. If someone disagrees with me I’m okay with that. But to tell me to die. Or kill myself or that you will watch as I get raped by Nazis. Tells me. You are not as good a person as you think you are. You are just as bad as the Nazis. Cause that is beyond messed up to say to someone.
Tumblr media
Even said to me that I’m a traitor to my gender and the community doesn’t accept me. That’s also fucked up to say. Not as much. But still not good. You pretend you have the moral high ground. But ignored everything I said in these comments. Which tells me I’m right. It’s not that you have the moral high ground. You want to feel as you do. Because people that actually care. Would care about how Florida wants to kill parents who let their kids be trans. Or one state banned all reaffirming care for everyone under 18. And if above are not allowed to have any mental illness. Or that trans people are not allowed in the correct bathrooms. And have to put their lives in danger just to go to the bathroom. Cause a dad might not understand why a buff man is using the woman’s bathroom. Or what’s happening to Zooey Zepher. Or the fact that all “pro trans” business have been really quiet and proving they aren’t really. Except funny enough. BudLight
Tumblr media
@penisgoblin
Anyone who wants to read the full Exchange it’s under one of my posts explaining where Sirona comes from (also before anyone sparks that again. It’s not a transphobic name. But was a horrible choice for them to do)
For everyone wanting to learn more about real issues going on that are really anti trans here’s a link of all anti trans laws they are doing
I would post more articles but the apps not letting me paste atm so feel free to google it
To address some of the other stuff expressed to me in the comments.
Someone told me the whole gaming and media industry isn’t needed and that they would be okay if the whole thing collapsed. I will explain why it is needed. People watch/play for many reasons. It builds serotonin. Entertainment and joy are vital in helping lowering suicide and depression.
And the media industry is one of the biggest in the US and it is hugely vital for the economy. The writers strike will help cause another depression (not blaming the writers but the asses that refuse to pay them) and people don’t even realize that outside the writers that are striking. Thousands of others are losing their jobs. Editors. Animators. Costume design. Set design. My sister. (No seriously she lost her job editing frames for shows)
If the entire industry collapsed so would the US. and even other country’s. The sad part is when I explained that. They didn’t even care. They don’t care that people will go homeless and starve with their families. It was messed up.
Or one person said they hoped everyone who played the game or worked on it dies.
Saying stuff like this shows me you are on a false moral high ground. That you are just as bad or worse then the people you are upset at.
Disclaimer: I do not support jk assface. She is a cunt and a bitch. I understand why people are upset about the game. I am not disagreeing or mad at you. I personally have never played the game. Will I someday? Idk. Probably not. I am Non Binary and Pan. I am more upset at the US government then my elderly father.

Hi I'm back again
Sorry for any bad takes, while I've done lore dives for other media in the past I've never hyperfixated as much as I have with Rain World. The complete and total void of information about so many things in this game has driven me to the brink of insanity so every little detail I notice I'm like "ah what if this is actually important and lore related and mmm wild speculation"
Also I fricking feel like I'm apologizing way too much. I absolutely refuse to apologize for having my weird-ass speculations, but I will apologize for dumping all of my unedited speculative rambles in your inbox. As I said tell me to shut up at any time I don't want to to be annoying or anything also I'm probably overthinking this damn it talking to people is hard
(And absolutely PLEASE give your opinions!!!! The whole reason I'm dumping my stupid ramblings in your inbox is because you have the COOLEST lore and being able to rant about my stupid theories and hear some of your theories and ideas in exchange-- shbddhgbjksttd I'm having too much fun)
What you said about artistic choice and stuff makes total sense-- I haven't really drawn ancients except for some stupid little doodles (and yeah, their hair is hard. the little circles make way more sense as 'shape defining artistic feature' rather than 'possible lore detail') and I have no idea what I'm doing anyways BUT I am going to offer a very small and completely nonsensical defense for my tentacle-hair-bone-thing theory cause I honestly just think it would be funny if they had cactus skulls
the holy grail of ancient imagery returns
Tumblr media
that one specific tentacle. it looks like it pokes straight up before flopping over. I'm reaaaally grasping at straws now lol
Different topic-- I absolutely think that the ancients practiced some form of limb-binding. The difference in feet sizes between some of the images of them, the cloth wrappings, the fact that iterators don't (canonically) have 'feet' feet... I also think some ancients may have done the same to their hands? I mean, look at the karma 4 mural. That dude has weird hands. And feet. And way too many tits. Ancients are just fricking weird.
But yeah if any of my theories or thought trains or anything are weird or don't make sense just know I have no clue what I'm doing, I'm just throwing stuff at the walls and hoping some of it sticks haha
(Join me, next time, for 'Why Ancients Really Liked Birds~~')
yea, u r apologizing too fuckin much!!! -baps you with a newspaper- lord in heaven... /lh not sayin by this that u do annoy me- but i'd suggest makin these into posts n throwin em into the main tag rather than yeetin 'em all at my inbox! so more peeps can see 'em n such, you might find more people with neat opinions, who knows. but also thank you for finding my stuff that cool jgsdlkmcklsdmgklsd
GJKSDLKLMD I CAN,,, REFUTE THAT AS WELL BUT I WILL TELL YOU THIS: if you find it funny then that is all the reason you need for the thing being a canon tidbit for your stuff. a lot of my lore building comes from "wouldn't it be funny if..." and then committing to it
oh they absolutely Are doing some fucked up binding. it would make a lot of sense if Videocult implemented that- since they are already taking inspiration from Buddhism, it would make sense for them to jump into China n other surrounding cultures to look for inspiration for fucked up aspects a culture can enforce and then spin it out into interesting lore for a game. so from Chinese feet binding we get to multiple body parts binding (stars above, sin two mural the ancient's on top feet... it never hit how Tiny those are. also who da FUCK IS HAVING SEX IN SNEAKERS, GODDAMMIT. WHAT IS THIS BITCH.)
the hands i like to blame on religious mutilation and the fuckin... third n fourth "tits" are just fat storage- the upper pair are the proper tits in the sense that they are the muscles that move the arms. but oh how i adore it when people give four boobs to their Ancient designs it's so funny to me... praise the boobification
n tsk, aaaaaarhg, "weird"... that's the basis for the best stuff. this is an alien world, anything goes. the more fucked up it is the better it will be (-gestures to face tentacles n the back gills of my interpretations-)

This is a bit long, but is something that has weighed on my mind since I watched the episode last night. I come from a place of being a physically disabled from birth Trekkie who has watched episodes of TNG/all of Trek since she was 8, thirty years ago. I touched on this a little in my review last night, but here is my full analysis on a problem I saw with the episode that goes beyond which villain is behind door number 3
Some vague Spoilers ahead for Star Trek Picard s3 episode 9 but no way to avoid them if I am to discuss this topic.
In 2023, apparently, we still have issues in Star Trek of all places, with coping with disability and difference.''
And what bothers me most is those issues are issues had by my two favorite characters in all of Trek about their own progeny.
This progeny has a genetic issue inherited from their father, as a result of a trauma the father suffered that altered his DNA.
The progeny has the potential to be dangerous because of what they've inherited, like world ending dangerous. But so far, they had seemed until last night, to be kindhearted, smart, sensitive, fun, like their folks. And to only use their potentially dangerous differences to take out bad guys, to protect people they care about and to try to save the day.
And yet, the minute, the dad finds out what the cause of the issue is, his first solution is to put his progeny in an institution, no joke, the calmest, gentlest guy in the history of Trek is like, you know , we'll just put you there, you'll be fine. And when his progeny asks what Star Trek's biggest moral leader sees when he looks at his progeny, basically either a choice between saying whether he sees his child or a monster, he says nothing.
And the mother of this child, the character who usually is a cross between the world's best at her position, the most accepting person ever and funny as heck, says to her progeny, that they can fix this/ deal with it. Not I love you, not I see you, none of her normal character stuff, just an allegory for how some parents might deal with this stuff in the real world. Not an example of how to do better
And the parents refuse to talk to each other about any of it, to even comfort each other. Despite being the Star Trek pairing known for talking to each other about everything, they won't even soothe each other, even as friends or parents.
So basically in stuff set in 2403, the writers went with disability/difference can be potentially dangerous and we should fear before we love and panic before we think and say really ablestic crap, because trauma and/or training overrides who characters were written to be for 40 years prior. And makes for good drama
I'm hoping the last episode next week has the writers making them believe they acted like jerkholes, but if not, I will maybe consider long and hard about writing to both the new producer and to both actors (They are both big advocates for justice and inclusion of all in Trek media, at conventions and in the actual world ie politics and organizations. And have spoken up about how to handle plots on screen and issues off screen many times) and I'm disheartened that no one nixed this plot or at least this handling of it.
A big name creator also pointed out on youtube that this could be an allegory for how some parents reject their LGBT+ children too and the issues with that plot, i have to say it's possible as well.
Which doesn't make again, for pleasant or safe viewing for a generation of folks of all different walks of life who just wanted to see characters they trusted as a distraction or as validation of their real struggles, the way Star Trek has always been, not a mirror of injustices and pain for drama.

rambly tlou thoughts
so ik this isn't like. totally a fandom blog idk if anyone will see this or if it'll vanish whatever but oh well
it has hit me, in no small part bc I had to explain to one of my roommates who was watching w/ me pieces of frank figuring bill out in ep 3 leading up to them getting together (and vice versa) (but mostly said roommate literally jumped in his seat at the kiss bc he didn't see it coming, it was hilarious. but anyway. I been thinking about them A Lot) the stellar tv version tlou hbo gave us kept them poised so much more as equals in a relationship than so much media ever does, tv, movies, etc.
(not that tlou has ever really not gone for that for its main relationships but that's a whole other post; for a while joel's a shot-caller, but he's not the only one involved, ellie, tess, tommy, etc hold their own, so on. again, anyway.)
but even to the end they made for the show - that choice starts w the premise that frank's illness has progressed too far for him and taken too much of his functioning ability; this time, he's the one prepped for facing the end, albeit via a rather charming plan. it's bill, who had never wanted friends or visiting bums, but had gotten caught up in attachment, in being seen, loved, loving, whose immediate reaction is to resist, refuse to help with the suicide, in the hope of finding eventual medical help, even if that hadn't existed before the pandemic.
but as they do, at least in this version, they even out and come to something like a middle - which, very amusingly to me (and yes, frank, very romantically), has bill evaluate the couple of things that mean basically anything to him, and decide that if frank's gonna go out, he's gotten a long enough life to make it both of them. and I know their reasons are different but it's genuinely very funny to me that frank is so taken aback when bill also drinks the wine like. when has this man of yours done anything by halves, sir? mister whole ass electric fence town with his I was never afraid before you showed up and you were just gonna leave earth in his arms and he was gonna be chill about it? sure. right. no, my man, he was gonna tell the people he begrudgingly thinks are decent or better to do their best to keep kicking ass n then follow you wherever God declares lmao. as with 9/10 other moments featuring y'all, it features y'all being stubborn af, which is exactly how you made it to old age in a panini in the first place. history rhymes all over.
(so cheers to that too 🍷 - cause whatever timeline we're in, you know the gays are gonna be stubborn.)
