Symbols on the Lance of Michael and their meaning.

Despite the fact this lance is an angelic weapon, the runes on it are not enochian. Two of them are alchemical symbols, the third is the nordic rune.

The first symbol is Phosphorus - Alchemists were fascinated by phosphorus because it seemed capable of holding light. Another interesting property of phosphorus is its ability to burn in air.   Although copper was commonly associated with Venus, the planet was called Phosphorus when it glowed brightly at dawn.   Well, we know that Venus is called the morning star, which is associated with the image of Lucifer. So i think phosphorus represents Lucifer in this spell.

Arsenic "in the everlasting image of the swan" - arsenic was a well-known poison during medieval period, so the swan symbol might not make much sense - unlikely you recall that the element is a metalloid. Like other elements in the group, arsenic can transform from one phisycal appearance to another. Cygnets turn into swans, arsenic transform itself too.   Arsenic can mean both poisoning and transformation (or transition).

Odal - the only non-alchemical symbol here - is a nordic rune that means inheritance, family. Sometimes compared to atta - "Father". In this case, rune Odal represents God or his power.

So what do we have? These runes create magic, as Ramiel said in the series. And literally these symbols can mean two things: Lucifer is poisoned by the power of God, or Lucifer returns to God - if we look at the second meaning of arsenic. (if we assume that a slow death is Michael's attempt to make Lucifer have time to repent. And the fact that this magic is removed when the lance breaks, perhaps means that Michael gave Lucifer the opportunity to apologize).

Now that I’m finally moved and things are at least vaguely stable, I’ll actually be able to get back to my late season alchemy rewatch of SPN! Still super tempted to just ff’d through Fizzy Water’s scenes at least where he’s alone. Adding The Winchesters to the rewatch list, too! Yes, it’s mostly to see Jack again, but he’s one of the most pagan things about the final seasons tho he obviously has the Christ imagery too. I will still never get over Jack being the Orphic Egg and Alex having the one Futhark rune that symbolizes the Cosmic Ice Egg tattooed on his arm. I may have shrieked a little when I found that out.

Biblical angel SPN headcanons:

I was just trying to figure out why human + bird wings = angel, when angels are like celestial beings, then I realized it must be by the alchemy that happens when angel grace/angel frequency merges with a human being's DNA, joining with a vessel. It unlocks something in the genetic code. Boom, GATTACA, you get wings now. Enjoy being a hybrid. Even if the wings are on another frequency I like the idea of them taking that shape.

A terminal fandom disease, a plague, the lot of you. We're ripping out the rot at the root. We're opening that gay door. Perspective. You are years behind and clueless. The sooner you accept that the sooner you're going to understand what's happening. You didn't HAVE the context to understand the double-S tweet of Berens intentional mispellings being a silly slapfight with Meg Fitz over her giant bees and the fact that she spells Cas with two S'es, that even if they aren't credited they're all idea sharing still. And you'd know it's meg if you knew meg's interests.

Deep down even wigglebox knows that I used to prioritize speaking with the authors. She did not have access to the results, and I think she only possibly saw the one voice message from Bobo if she saw any at all, but she has to be aware that I chose a different path than they did and the potential that pass opened. She just does not want to look into that opening. Because she chose the wrong path. And it's everybody in script hunt

Amazing the things that can be done if you spend your time and years treating creatives like human beings rather than robots to abuse for demands, project intention at, or try to treat like a direct info spout. so  in  my  head  I  like  the  idea  that  draco  threw  the  wand  to  harry  in  the  final  battle,  his  small  act  of  rebellion  in  his  youth  that  people  could’ve  easily  seen  as  a  selfish  act  to  save  himself. 

everything  he  went  through  in  his  youth  trying  to  please  his  parents  and  out  of  fear  following  the  orders  of  the  death  eaters  and  his  crazy  aunt  bellatrix,  draco  saw  the  error  of  his  ways  but  had  burned  too  many  bridges.  

he  became  warmer  and  kinder,  he  married  astoria  and  built  a  life  with  her  though  they  remained  isolated  and  draco  had  been  willing  to  let  the  malfoy  line  end  with  him.  they  had  scorpius  and  that’s  when  his  happiness  truly  began. 

astoria  would  grow  weaker  over  the  years  but  while  she  remained  alive  he  was  warm  and  kind,  embraced  a  life  he’d  never  seen  himself  having. 

when  she  died,  he  became  distant.  fearing  he’d  become  more  like  his  own  father  because  of  the  grief  and  kept  scorpius  at  arms  length. 

for  a  brief  period  he  was  an  auror,  using  the  work  as  a  means  of  distracting  himself  but  was  dismissed  when  it  was  clear  he  was  allowing  his  emotions  to  take  over  his  work. 

he  took  to  alchemy,  more  so  as  a  hobby  while  he  lived  miserable  off  the  inheritance  from  the  father  he  despised. 

has  an  own  named  ayla,  the  child  of  the  owl  he  grew  up  with. 

on  the  initial  reforming  of  the  death  eaters,  draco  stayed  far  from  it.  fearing  the  very. depths  of  what  they  were  trying  to  bring  about  yet  again. 

with  the  death  of  harry  raising  many  regrets  regarding  his  school  life  and  what  astoria  inspired  within  him,  draco  went  to  the  order  in  secret;  not  even  his  son  was  aware  of  his  new  loyalty.  he  vowed  to  be  a  double  agent,  joining  the  death  eaters  as  a  spy.  

within  the  two  months  that  followed  harry  and  the  ministers  death,  draco  once  more  became  an  auror.

I'm sure a bunch of people have sent you this already but what's your take? Do you think they have somehow copyrighted "Winchesters" so no one can use it?? Is that even possible? And while the studio might be the ones behind this since "the Studio (capitalized..)" will apparently be in the vendors room weeding out people but I can't help but still be pissed at Jensen for this. He started this ball rolling. And now not only is he squeezing out Jared and Jared/Sam fans but now they're squeezing out vendors as well? People who have been there at cons for YEARS supporting them? Wasn't enough to take over the legacy, they had to take over the name and merch too. Can't wait to see what shitty af merch the put out for the show... I would assume that's their plan since they won't let anyone else sell anything with the name anymore. It's also just so stupid, hey, guess what guys, you can't sell spn merch at an spn con anymore!! Also, way to absolutely alienate even more people from your show. And vendors were probably a few willing to watch so they could make merch to sell at cons... Just great work all around.

Jensen's team should have had the foresight to anticipate the issue of using "The Winchesters", which anybody would have known that it is a common enough name that somebody would have already copyright it. But Jensen never was a good businessman and every non-acting buslness-related decision I've seen him make causes my eye to twitch.

While WB doesn't want to get into hot waters with copyright holders may be the main reason why they're putting a kibosh on unofficial merchs, they are also hoping that against all odds that The Winchesters become another merchandise goldmine so they want to get ahead of it. Remember the surplus Castiel calendars that they had to give away for free? That was because they feared Jared would not return for season 11 and went ahead and over-ordered those Cas calendars if Misha is promoted to 2nd lead when Jensen is promoted to 1st lead.

WB may have hoped that Jensen has managed to rediscover the lost art of alchemy.  Instead, he has taken gold and presented the target audience of teenagers with a lesser metal.

I finally bought Ace Attorney and I'm having a blast. I'm watching Bungou Stray Dogs s4 and Mo Dao Zu Shi s3 – both of them are one of my first anime and getting back to them feels so nostalgic. I got a new book!! It's Raven of the Inner Palace and has a gorgeous cover. And when I don't want to do anything I watch the Alchemy of Souls, it's comforting, it's easy to get back to after longer breaks and somehow it lengthens my attention spawn

I got my little notepad and a list of a handful of episodes to watch from 10-12 that help with understanding heaven and the alchemy before I go through 13-15. I’m gonna try to pay attention to the Lucifer/Nick stuff because I’m sure there’s some important stuff there tho it was mostly used as a distraction to keep Eugenie entertained while Bobo worked in the gay and Pagan things. Honestly amazing she and Buckner didn’t fuck up Destiny’s Child, tho I’m not sure how many rewrites and edits that one had to go through. It’s also likely the directing and set dec saved it. That Holy Family framing lives rent free in my mind.

My fucking uterus has been a fucking bitch so I’ve been mostly in the fetal position curled around my heating buddy with zombie brain so doing anything that requires prolonged attention or intelligence is out. Boy, it’d been nice if one of the doctors I’ve had to see in the last 9 months could actually help. Tho I did find out I might have an autoimmune disease and have to go back to my hematologist Friday to see if my blood’s still fucked up. Hooray. 🖕🏻

Dean’s 17 Cavities in 15x10 The Hero’s Journey

Seventeen is a pretty specific number, right?

I’ve already written about the way in which the dentist’s chair sequence in 15x10 makes specific, subtextual, reference to Dr. Freud, who wrote, in The Interpretation of Dreams, that dreams about teeth falling out were repressed sexual anxiety dreams.

And why would Dean be suffering from (subtextual) sexual anxiety? 

Because, he’s just confessed more of his feelings, and on his knees no less, to Castiel, than he’s ever confessed before. 

Garth probes Dean’s teeth and finds seventeen cavities.

In subtext, Garth has always had a bit of a crush on Dean. In subtext, Garth the werewolf helps Dean learn to tap-dance in the dentist’s chair dream-sequence as a metaphor for self-acceptance (in part) of Dean’s own “monstrous” side (his queer closeted anxiety). And after that dance sequence, Dean is able, back up out of the dentist’s chair, to admit to Garth that he smells good too (a bit more, subtextual, bisexual self-acceptance), and to look longingly at Garth and Bess dancing, wishing (we can infer) for his own “dance partner”.  He thinks he’d be good at it <3. 

For those of you who’ve been following the Jungian and alchemical symbolism in S14 and S15, the number 17 might ring a bell as the path, on the Qabbalistic Tree of Life, between Tiphareth (Integraton/ Beauty) and Binah (Wisdom/ Understanding):

That pathway is said to be linked to the Tarot card The Lovers (here reproduced from the Crowley-Harris deck):

This card doesn’t simply symbolise the meeting of two lovers on the physical plane, but also the “sacred marriage”, which, in Jungian alchemy (which views alchemical texts as metaphors for psychic forces) it is the meeting of the Self and the Shadow, the integration of “masculine” and “feminine” principles within the self. 

Dean has just been on an underworld journey to Purgatory 2.0 (a metaphor for a journey into the unconscious) and has come face to face with his Shadow-self, in the form of admitting, in his prayer to Cas, to the rage that he inherited from his childhood trauma and which has, up to this point (because it hadn’t been confronted) often controlled him, turning him into someone who acts out like his father did.

So, in subtext, Dean’s seventeen cavities link to The Lovers tarot card, and thus symbolise, a) Dean’s “hero’s journey” towards greater acceptance of his bisexuality, b) Dean’s psychic journey towards greater integration of his self and his Shadow-self, c) Dean’s psychic journey towards greater integration of his “softer” side (the side that wants to dance) with his exterior “hardass” side (the side his father approved of), and d) also symbolises Castiel as Dean’s potential life-partner. All of these are, of course, clearly linked. 

Not only that, but this integration of Self and Shadow on the earthly plane has been, and will again, be mirrored on the cosmic plane. 

Chuck is unbalanced at present, because he has “broken up” with Amara, and he is not facing his own Shadow self (whatever it is he has repressed about himself). Therefore, he is acting out and behaving “monstrously”. Chuck needs to achieve the same kind of psychic growth Dean is in the process of achieving - the creator must learn from his creation. 

N.B: As ever, my reading of the queer subtext in SPN does not promise a rainbow parade of obviousness at the end.  But subtext IS part of narrative.

Okay so, at this point, I'm used to you smacking me in the face with Tool lyrics (and Renaissance lyrics, but that's a different kind of psychic damage for me). And I'm good with that cuz we're gonna ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

That's fine. It's all good.

(Except for the time I thought that the Shadow mentioned in 46&2 couldn't possibly have any relevance and then you beaned me in the head with a rock. But that was my bad.)

The problem is that weeks ago, someone in server made a passing comment about Jimmy (referring to Castiel's vessel) and i thought, Hey, there's a Tool song named Jimmy... But that couldn't mean anything, right?

(I know, I know. My bad.)

So, I went about my business.

Only to run into your "11 is 11".

Now, I have no earthly idea what that means. Half your alchemy and hermetic posts go flying over my head, but I dig the parts that I get.

But the 11 triggered my memory of Jimmy. So I looked up the lyrics and...

I mean... there's no Shadow or spirals but... at this point, I'm gonna have to buy a damn helmet! Or at least ask that you throw softer rocks!

HAHAHAHAH that's one of those apollo curveballs that even just decked me, so nice one, i'm standing up and straightening my glasses.

The 11 is 11 had to do with the way Lateralus was built. The initial order ended when the Tower Falls To The Voice Of God--in og spn framework, 15.18 when sam and jack walk out of the tower. It ends in ruin once the switch flipped from The Truth to Despair.

The 13 episodes could be shuffled two ways for different results. If you swing the cycle first, the voice of god just becomes trauma radio, pitcking back and forth into trauma ticks and leeches and lessons to correct it to land at your final disposition and watch the weather change.

In both versions, "Reflection" had the same causal point, it was the only song that was the same in both orders. But now we're evolving the spiral, not just swinging on it, so Reflection just got recentered as the causal starting point while going back to In The Beginning and losing sight of The Future.
