"A team of researchers at Washington University in St. Louis has developed a real-time air monitor that can detect any of the SARS-CoV-2 virus variants that are present in a room in about 5 minutes.
The proof-of-concept device was created by researchers from the McKelvey School of Engineering and the School of Medicine at Washington University...
The results are contained in a July 10 publication in Nature Communications that provides details about how the technology works.
The device holds promise as a breakthrough that - when commercially available - could be used in hospitals and health care facilities, schools, congregate living quarters, and other public places to help detect not only the SARS-CoV-2 virus, but other respiratory virus aerosol such as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) as well.
“There is nothing at the moment that tells us how safe a room is,” Cirrito said, in the university’s news release. “If you are in a room with 100 people, you don’t want to find out five days later whether you could be sick or not. The idea with this device is that you can know essentially in real time, or every 5 minutes, if there is a live virus in the air.”
How It Works
The team combined expertise in biosensing with knowhow in designing instruments that measure the toxicity of air. The resulting device is an air sampler that operates based on what’s called “wet cyclone technology.” Air is sucked into the sampler at very high speeds and is then mixed centrifugally with a fluid containing a nanobody that recognizes the spike protein from the SARS-CoV-2 virus. That fluid, which lines the walls of the sampler, creates a surface vortex that traps the virus aerosols. The wet cyclone sampler has a pump that collects the fluid and sends it to the biosensor for detection of the virus using electrochemistry.
The success of the instrument is linked to the extremely high velocity it generates - the monitor has a flow rate of about 1,000 liters per minute - allowing it to sample a much larger volume of air over a 5-minute collection period than what is possible with currently available commercial samplers. It’s also compact - about one foot wide and 10 inches tall - and lights up when a virus is detected, alerting users to increase airflow or circulation in the room.
Testing the Monitor
To test the monitor, the team placed it in the apartments of two Covid-positive patients. The real-time air samples from the bedrooms were then compared with air samples collected from a virus-free control room. The device detected the RNA of the virus in the air samples from the bedrooms but did not detect any in the control air samples.
In laboratory experiments that aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 into a room-sized chamber, the wet cyclone and biosensor were able to detect varying levels of airborne virus concentrations after only a few minutes of sampling, according to the study.
“We are starting with SARS-CoV-2, but there are plans to also measure influenza, RSV, rhinovirus and other top pathogens that routinely infect people,” Cirrito said. “In a hospital setting, the monitor could be used to measure for staph or strep, which cause all kinds of complications for patients. This could really have a major impact on people’s health.”
The Washington University team is now working to commercialize the air quality monitor."

Holy shit. I know it's still early in the technology and more testing will inevitably be needed but holy shit.
Literally, if it bears out, this could revolutionize medicine. And maybe let immunocompromised people fucking go places again
Also, for those who don't know, Nature Communications is a very prestigious scientific journal that focuses on Pretty Big Deal research. Their review process is incredibly rigorous. This is an absolutely HUGE credibility boost to this research and prototype

Sharpening Our View of Climate Change with the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem Satellite
As our planet warms, Earth’s ocean and atmosphere are changing.
Climate change has a lot of impact on the ocean, from sea level rise to marine heat waves to a loss of biodiversity. Meanwhile, greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide continue to warm our atmosphere.
NASA’s upcoming satellite, PACE, is soon to be on the case!
Set to launch on Feb. 6, 2024, the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) mission will help us better understand the complex systems driving the global changes that come with a warming climate.
Tumblr media
Earth’s ocean is becoming greener due to climate change. PACE will see the ocean in more hues than ever before.
While a single phytoplankton typically can’t be seen with the naked eye, communities of trillions of phytoplankton, called blooms, can be seen from space. Blooms often take on a greenish tinge due to the pigments that phytoplankton (similar to plants on land) use to make energy through photosynthesis.
In a 2023 study, scientists found that portions of the ocean had turned greener because there were more chlorophyll-carrying phytoplankton. PACE has a hyperspectral sensor, the Ocean Color Instrument (OCI), that will be able to discern subtle shifts in hue. This will allow scientists to monitor changes in phytoplankton communities and ocean health overall due to climate change.
Tumblr media
Phytoplankton play a key role in helping the ocean absorb carbon from the atmosphere. PACE will identify different phytoplankton species from space.
With PACE, scientists will be able to tell what phytoplankton communities are present – from space! Before, this could only be done by analyzing a sample of seawater.
Telling “who’s who” in a phytoplankton bloom is key because different phytoplankton play vastly different roles in aquatic ecosystems. They can fuel the food chain and draw down carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to photosynthesize. Some phytoplankton populations capture carbon as they die and sink to the deep ocean; others release the gas back into the atmosphere as they decay near the surface.
Studying these teeny tiny critters from space will help scientists learn how and where phytoplankton are affected by climate change, and how changes in these communities may affect other creatures and ocean ecosystems.
Tumblr media
Climate models are one of our most powerful tools to understand how Earth is changing. PACE data will improve the data these models rely on.
The PACE mission will offer important insights on airborne particles of sea salt, smoke, human-made pollutants, and dust – collectively called aerosols – by observing how they interact with light.
With two instruments called polarimeters, SPEXone and HARP2, PACE will allow scientists to measure the size, composition, and abundance of these microscopic particles in our atmosphere. This information is crucial to figuring out how climate and air quality are changing.
PACE data will help scientists answer key climate questions, like how aerosols affect cloud formation or how ice clouds and liquid clouds differ.
It will also enable scientists to examine one of the trickiest components of climate change to model: how clouds and aerosols interact. Once PACE is operational, scientists can replace the estimates currently used to fill data gaps in climate models with measurements from the new satellite.
Tumblr media
With a view of the whole planet every two days, PACE will track both microscopic organisms in the ocean and microscopic particles in the atmosphere. PACE’s unique view will help us learn more about the ways climate change is impacting our planet’s ocean and atmosphere.
Stay up to date on the NASA PACE blog, and make sure to follow us on Tumblr for your regular dose of sPACE!

Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week. #5
Feb 9-16 2024
The Department of Education released the first draft for a wide ranging student loan forgiveness plan. After Biden's first attempt at student debt forgiveness was struck down at the Supreme Court in 2023, this new plan is an attempt to replace it with something that will hold up in court. The plan hopes to forgive debt for anyone facing "financial hardship" which has been as broadly defined as possible. Another part of the plan hopes to eliminate $10-20,000 in interest from all student loans, as well as a wide ranging public Information push to inform people of other forgiveness programs they qualify for but don't know about.
The House passed 1.2 Billion Dollars to combat human trafficking, including $175 million in housing assistance to human trafficking victims
The Department of Transportation announced $970 Million for improvements at 114 airports across 44 states and 3 territories. They include $40 million to O'Hare International in Chicago to improve passenger experience by reconfiguring TSA and baggage claims, and installing ADA compliant bathrooms(!). The loans will also go to connecting airports to mass transit, boosted sustainability, installing solar and wind power, and expanding service to under served committees around the country.
Medicare & Medicaid released new guidelines to allow people to pay out of pocket prescription drug coats in monthly installments rather than as a lump sum. This together with capping the price of certain drugs and penalties for drug companies that rise prices over inflation is expected to save the public millions on drug coasts and assure people don't pass on a prescription because they can't pay upfront
The EPA announced its adding 150 more communities to its Closing America's Wastewater Access Gap Community Initiative. 2.2 Million Americans do not have basic running water and indoor plumbing. Broken and unreliable wastewater infrastructure exposed many of those to dangerous raw sewage. These Americans live primarily in poor and rural communities, many predominantly Black communities in the south as well as those on tribal lands. The program is aiming to close the wastewater gap and insure all Americans have access to reliable clear water.
The White House announced deferred action for Palestinians in the US. This means any Palestinian living in the United States, no mater their legal status, can not be deported for any reason for the next 18 months.
The Department of Energy announced $60 million in investment into clean geothermal energy. The plan will hopefully lead to a 90% decrease in the coasts of geothermal. DOE estimates hold that geothermal might be able to power the hopes of 65 million Americans by 2050 making it a key step in the Biden administration plan for a carbon-free grid by 2035 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
The EPA launched $83 million to help improve air quality monitoring across America. With updated equipment local agencies will be better able to report on air quality, give more localized reports of bad air quality and the country will be better equipped to start mitigating the problem
The Department of Energy announced $63 million in investments in domestic heat-pump manufacturing. Studies have shown that heat-pumps reduce green house gases by 50% over the most efficient condensing gas boilers, as technology improves this could rise to 75% by 2030. Heat pump water heaters meanwhile are 2 to 3 times as energy efficient as conventional electric water heaters.
HHS awarded $5.1 million to organizations working with LGBTQI+ Youth and their Families. The programs focus on preventing homelessness, fighting depression and suicide, drug use and HIV prevention and treatment, as well as  family counseling and support interventions tailored for LGBTQI+ families.
The House passed two bills in support of the oppressed Uyghur minority in China. The "No Dollars To Uyghur Forced Labor" Act would prohibit the US government from spending any money on projects that source materials from Xinjiang. The Uyghur Policy Act would create a permanent post at the State Department to coordinate policy on Uyghur Issues, much like the special ambassador on antisemitism.

Crater Collapses in Iceland's New Volcano Spewing Rivers of Lava
Iceland's newest volcano, located in the Reykjanes peninsula, began erupting in early July, 2023. Now it's throwing "spatter bombs'" of molten lava.
In Iceland, the world's newest "baby" volcano is throwing a temper tantrum: It's overflowing and spewing "spatter bombs," or blobs of molten lava, into the surrounding crater.
The volcano formed on July 10, when an underground eruption opened a 1.7-mile-long (2.7 kilometers) fissure in the ground of Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula, southwest of the capital, Reykjavík. Leading up to this event, the region experienced a "seismic swarm," during which more than 7,000 earthquakes shook the area starting on July 4, according to a statement from the Icelandic Met Office. Lava trickled from the fracture in the ground, and seismic activity decreased for about a week after the eruption.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On July 18, however, "there was a major shift in the vent activity overnight," according to a post on the Facebook page of Rannsóknarstofa í eldfjallafræði og náttúruvá (the Laboratory of Volcanology and Natural Hazards), a research group from the University of Iceland. At around 11:30 p.m. local time, "the crater filled up to the brim with lava and the fountaining began to throw spatter bombs well beyond the crater rims." Roughly three hours later, a small opening formed, allowing lava to spill over the crater, the post added. By early morning, a section of the crater's rim had collapsed, releasing a river of lava to the north and west. The lava pouring from this crater is roughly 2,192 degrees Fahrenheit (1,200 degrees Celsius), the scientists said.
"The crater became unstable and collapsed," Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir, an associate professor of geography at the University of Iceland and member of the lab, told Live Science in an email. "It had built up quite fast and it was filling up with lava on the inside, causing pressure to the walls. Not unusual as such but spectacular and of concern since there were people quite close by not long before it happened (in a closed area though)."
On the opposite side of the volcano, lava flowing south stalled and eventually crusted over, the post said. The area around the eruption site is uninhabited, and the eruption does not currently post a risk to infrastructure, according to the Icelandic Met Office. Firefighters in Grindavík, a nearby Icelandic town, have already contained the potential spread of fire from July 18's lava spill, and they no longer believe it is a threat, according to the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service.
Scientists will continue to monitor the volcano's behavior because future lava flows could ignite wildfires and reduce air quality in the region, according to the statement. Watch a livestream of the volcano on the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service's website here.

Smoke in the Northwest
"Extreme heat, bouts of strong winds, and a prolonged drought are fueling large forest fires in western Canada and the United States.
The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite acquired this image of smoke spreading across parts of British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and Montana on August 16, 2023. That same day, astronauts aboard the International Space Station captured the detailed photograph below, which shows smoke in valleys in British Columbia near the towns of Golden and Revelstoke.
The surge in fire activity follows the peak of an extreme heat wave that broke dozens of heat records in British Columbia on August 14. But even as temperatures cooled some in the following days, lightning storms triggered new fires, and strong winds turned small blazes into fast-moving, smoky infernos. Authorities in both the United States and Canada issued air quality alerts and, in some cases, calls to evacuate as smoke and fire threatened communities.
The recent heat and winds add to the existing problem of a prolonged drought that has affected the area since last year and primed vegetation to burn. According to the North American Drought Monitor, much of the Pacific Northwest was either abnormally dry or in moderate to extreme drought in mid-August 2023.
Canada is facing one of the worst fire years it has seen in decades, according to data published by the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre. More than 13.7 million hectares (33.9 million acres) had burned as of August 17, more than seven times the 25-year average. The United States has had a quieter wildfire season, with 1.7 million acres burned by mid-August. On average, 4.4 million acres have usually burned by mid-August, according to the U.S. National Interagency Fire Center.
NASA Earth Observatory image by Lauren Dauphin, using MODIS data from NASA EOSDIS LANCE and GIBS/Worldview. Astronaut photograph ISS069-E-61356 was acquired on August 17, 2023, with a Nikon D5 digital camera using an 50 millimeter lens and is provided by the ISS Crew Earth Observations Facility and the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, Johnson Space Center. The image was taken by a member of the Expedition 69 crew. The image has been cropped and enhanced to improve contrast, and lens artifacts have been removed. The International Space Station Program supports the laboratory as part of the ISS National Lab to help astronauts take pictures of Earth that will be of the greatest value to scientists and the public, and to make those images freely available on the Internet. Additional images taken by astronauts and cosmonauts can be viewed at the NASA/JSC Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth. Story by Adam Voiland."

The air pollution record was shattered on June 7th.
The US experienced its worst toxic air pollution from wildfire smoke in its recent recorded history on Wednesday, researchers have found, with people in New York exposed to levels of pollution more than five times above the national air quality standard. The rapid analysis of the extreme event, shared with the Guardian, found that smoke billowing south from forest fires in Canada caused Americans to suffer the worst day of average exposure to such pollution since a dataset on smoky conditions started in 2006. “It’s the worst by far, I mean, Jesus, it was bad,” said Marshall Burke, an environmental scientist at Stanford University who led the work. “It’s hard to believe to be honest, we had to quadruple check it to see if it was right. We have not seen events like this, or even close to this, on the east coast before. This is a historic event.”
While not as damaging as a major hurricane, this episode of air pollution has been disruptive over an entire region for several days. The overall impact on people's health will become more apparent when statistics on public health are crunched.
Tumblr media
In New York, where the sky went from a milky white to a Blade Runner orange over the course of a day when schools and playgrounds shut down outdoor activities and people started donning masks outside not worn since the early days of the pandemic, the particulate matter hit around 195 micrograms, more than five times above the national air quality standard. “The levels yesterday were quite dangerous, particularly if you are in a vulnerable group,” said Burke, adding that this includes vast swaths of people such as the elderly, children, pregnant women and those with prior medical conditions. “I expect we will see an uptick in respiratory hospitalizations, pre-term births and, sadly, mortalities.” Many New Yorkers stayed indoors rather than brave the campfire smell lingering on streets shrouded in smoke but even this did not fully shield most people, Burke said, with indoor air monitors in Manhattan showing that people experienced more than 100 micrograms of particulate matter.
Locally, the pollution readings in NYC in the past 24 hours have dropped from Very Unhealthy down to Moderate. But don't throw away those face masks. We're still much closer to the beginning of the 2023 fire season than to its end.
With climate change, such wildfires and resultant pollution are becoming more common.
Francesca Dominici, an expert in air pollution and climate at Harvard University, said that people should also refrain from exercising outdoors to avoid the “crazy levels” of air pollution, but that she still expected a surge of hospitalizations from cardiovascular and respiratory problems triggered by the smoke. [ ... ] “I hope as part of this crisis there is an opportunity to realize we need to act on climate change. We’ve gone from three years of not going out because of Covid and now we can’t go outside because of polluted air. The world and nature is telling us something, it’s sending us a very strong message.”
Ultimately, this is the stat we need to worry about the most.

Last experiments of the Aeolus satellite for TROPOS before re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere
TROPOS involvement throughout the mission and preparations for the upcoming EarthCARE mission
Darmstadt/Leipzig. After completing a very successful mission, ESA’s Aeolus satellite is on its descent from 320 km altitude back to Earth’s atmosphere. While the satellite would usually fall down slowly due to the Earth’s gravity, ESA is attempting to return Aeolus in an controlled reentry (Read more via ESA:: https://www.esa.int/Applications/Observing_the_Earth/FutureEO/Aeolus/Guiding_Aeolus_safe_reentry). The final manoeuvres for this reentry are happing right now and can be followed here: https://blogs.esa.int/rocketscience/2023/07/24/aeolus-reentry-live/ . On this occasion, a brief review of scientific experiments which happened shortly before the end of Aeolus’ mission life in which the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) was involved:
TROPOS involvement throughout the whole mission
Launched on 22 August 2018, the satellite was orbiting the Earth for almost five years while providing vertical profiles of the horizontal wind speed and backscatter information on clouds and aerosols. TROPOS strongly contributed to the great success of the mission while providing continuous reference measurements all over the world for validation of the wind and aerosol/cloud products from the beginning until the end of the mission. Also beyond the mission, TROPOS will be involved within the Aeolus Data, Innovation and Science Cluster (DISC) project to improve the data products and enhance the scientific impact of the mission. TROPOS took part in the Level-2A aerosol optical properties product development, monitoring the data quality and supporting external validation with science team from European partners.
End of life tests
Before the satellite is now coming back, the Aeolus team has successfully conducted a series of end of life experiments. The scientists hope that the results of these experiments help improving future lidar missions in space. The radiometric performance of the instrument and the impact on both aerosol and wind products were assessed in collaboration with the Aeolus DISC for each test.
Vertical winds
TROPOS was involved in one experiment where the laser was tilted from its nominal 35 degrees diagonal view to a nadir view (point on the Earth’s surface directly beneath the satellite) to measure vertical winds over deep convective cloud systems. While vertical air motions are negligible on average over large horizontal scales, this assumption is not valid in situations with strong convection (e.g., tropical storms). “While we are still analysing the promising data collected during this test, we hope that we can quantify the impact of vertical air motions on the assumptions that are using,” says Dr Sebastian Bley of TROPOS.
ATLID test
TROPOS was also involved in an ATLID test, where the Aeolus laser ALADIN was configured in a way to mimic the ATLID lidar, which will fly on EarthCARE. This test is intended to prepare for the upcoming EarthCARE satellite which will carry a lidar instrument very similar to that flying on Aeolus. „Lessons learned from Aeolus helped us a lot in preparing for the EarthCARE mission. With its four instruments on one platform for measuring aerosols, clouds, and radiation, it is even more challenging than Aeolus,” says Dr Ulla Wandinger of TROPOS. The launch window for the EarthCARE mission is currently scheduled for April-June 2024. While performing the ATLID test, Aeolus was flying over Leipzig and Mindelo at Cape Verde Islands, both stations with ground-based lidar instruments operated by TROPOS.
Final statement by TROPOS
We are following the Aeolus reentry with mixed feelings, on one hand we are sad about the fact that this wonderful satellite will burn in Earth’s atmosphere in the coming days, while on the other hand we are pleased and proud that we could contribute to the success of this exciting mission.
But there is also reason to look into a bright future. Our work will continue also after Aeolus illuminates the sky like a falling star for a last time. Our colleagues at TROPOS will continue working on the Aeolus data from the last five years within the Aeolus DISC project, notably validating the reprocessed aerosol products and highlighting novel applications for the atmospheric science community. Furthermore, we are heavily involved in the preparation for the upcoming EarthCARE mission, which will be launched in summer next year. TROPOS has a leading role in the developments of the processors for the ATLID lidar and the cloud products for the Multi-Spectral Imager (MSI) within the frame of the ESA-CARDINAL project. Furthermore, TROPOS is preparing for the validation of the EarthCARE measurements with our ground-based measurements sites of the whole globe.

"According to the research, roadside levels of NO2 pollutants fell by 49% between 2016 and 2023, and were lower last year even than in 2020, when there were extended periods of lockdown during the Covid pandemic.
The fall came despite London’s population having risen by more than a million people, the report said, and was a greater fall than in England as a whole with 35%, Scotland 39%, Wales 31% and Northern Ireland 27%.
The number of air quality monitoring sites in the capital showing NO2 levels beyond the UK’s annual legal limit fell from 56 in 2016 to five in 2023."

Tarot Reading Meghan Markle
Question: What is happening with her marriage to Harry? Will she attend the Coronation?
Answer: The marriage is over, and She won't be attending the Coronation. Karma is knocking on Meghan's door.
Reading February 20, 2023.
7 Pentacles (R) 5 Cups (R) 6 Swords 5 Swords (R) Wheel of Fortune (R) 6 Pentacles 10 Cups (R) Fool Hierophant + Ace Cups (R)
7 PENTACLES (R) Taurus (May 11 to May 20) Meghan is reaping what she has sown. Her consistent work is without results, and she is making bad business and financial decisions, resulting in cash flow problems and financial setbacks.
Her marriage is strained and She is considering if all the effort is worth it, while thinking about bailing because things have gotten so tough.
Unfortunately, Meghan continually repeats the same mistakes in relationships, by not learning from past failures, and running from one relationship to another. She is afraid to be on her own and lacks the ability to commit to just one person. Meghan is always looking for quantity and not quality.
5 CUPS (R) Scorpio (October 23 to November 1) Meghan is full of hatred and negativity. Meghan has a reluctance to heal, as Her hurt and pain is carefully nurtured. Apportioning blame on others is paramount, while taking no personal  responsibility for her involvement. She wears her trauma like a badge of honor and thinks or talks of nothing else.
The ship has sailed where family re-unions are concerned, and no amount of wishful thinking on Meghan's part will change this. Her exile from the family, or being shunned by friends due to her words and deeds, will see her continue to play the victim, not realizing that negativity attracts more negativity. Most of those who have been involved in her drama have moved on, and do not want the past dredged up again. Meghan is the Mother of Sorrows, and a deep depression is manifesting.
Meghan has concerns regarding inheritances because there may be little left to inherit, or others who lay claim to it. After the death of a loved one, surprises or family scandals will come to light.
Its time for Meghan to forgive and let go - at this stage, nobody but her gives a damn anymore - she needs to stop wasting time and energy on things that aren't working for her.
6 SWORDS Aquarius (January 30 to February 8) Meghan has put a lot of effort into making her marriage work all to no avail. She is feeling deflated, and will run away from responsibilities, possibly by leaving without notice, as she has done in past relationships.
Psychological issues need to be dealt with and can't be ignored. Meghan needs to stop carrying past hurt and negative attitudes into future relationships.
5 SWORDS (R) Aquarius (January 20 to January 29) Meghan has decided that Harry is not the right one, and is leaving him. Paranoia and suspicion sees Meghan triggering rows and causing discord wherever she goes - this is caused by psychological conditions which need to be constantly monitored and medicated.
Her marriage is very abusive. One partner may be a dangerous bully who uses psychological or physical abuse to control and get their way.  It is an extremely dominant/submissive arrangement.  However, those close enough to the couple will have seen the obvious signs, and sensed the tension and control in the air. If either partner has been unfaithful, or underhanded in the marriage, they will be publicly exposed.
A ceasefire will be called to allow for communications and solutions to become a reality, but only where those involved in hostilities are prepared to listen to the views of others.  It has taken a lot of effort to bring things to this stage of negotiation, and it would be wise for Meghan to take this brief window of opportunity to sort the situation out as peacefully as possible before it goes beyond the point of no return.  She will have to make some personal sacrifices in order to retain her integrity, and allow her to put this sorry mess behind her and move on.
Complete reconciliation will be very difficult and nobody will win, even if one party does seem to get more than their fair share, or feel they have emerged as the Victor.
In the workplace, Senior Management are aware of the conflict and hostility. Warnings have already occurred, and there will be future multiple cold and callous job losses with little notice.
If resolution and peace talks have not taken place or have failed, then all out war will be declared with Meghan being too entrenched in the situation to escape. Hostilities will be fought to the bitter end, and Meghan will pay a very high price, because pride would not let her walk away, and she did not listen to the advice of others who told her to get out when she could.
There is no escaping the damage that has been done. The fallout comes home to roost and Meghan may be shocked into realizing that she is directly responsible for the disaster and misery that surrounds her due to the consequences of her actions.
WHEEL OF FORTUNE 10 (R) Sagittarius  (November 21-December 20) Meghan faces negative and unwelcome change. It will be a challenging time, and may be difficult for her to adjust to.  She thought things were going well, but they have suddenly and unexpectedly fallen apart. Meghan has no control - what goes up, must come down, and Karma is knocking on her door.
Things are not going as planned because of the decisions and choices Meghan has made. She is trapped in her own shortcomings, and will use resentment and guilt to justify her situation.
6 PENTACLES Taurus (May 1 to May 10) Finances are tight, and both Meghan and Harry are relying on help from a generous friend, benefactor, investor or employer to make ends meet.
Meghan thought she married into money, but instead of changing her life for the better, it has made her feel miserable and inferior. She also finds it difficult to fit into her new social circle.
10 CUPS (R) Pisces (March 11 to March 20) The honeymoon is over, and Meghan's dream has turned into a nightmare. Meghan and Harry appeared to have it all, but its not the life she wanted. The marriage is falling apart at the seams and Her unrealistic expectations of Harry is the stuff made of fairytales.
Meghan is always chasing dreams and, even after she receives everything she ever wished for, nothing will ever be enough. She will be offered something of great worth, but will turn it down in the hope of something bigger and better. She needs to be careful, as refusing this offer will see her get nothing.
Meghan and Harry have secrets they want nobody to discover. They pretend nothing is wrong to keep up appearances, but are barely holding it together.  Hostilities are fueled by resentment, anger and jealousy.  It is a broken home with a dysfunctional family situation.
Family Events or re-unions may be cancelled or postponed.  Old family arguments and bickering may surface causing disturbances and uneasy feelings. Meghan has been turned out of the family due to scandals and arguments. There may also be the loss of a family home which is sold or repossessed. Meghan feels alienated and alone. Her children may have never met their relatives or grandparents.
THE FOOL 0 Aquarius (January 21-February 20) Meghan is childish. She has difficulty in committing and not knowing what She has until its too late.  She will lose interest in things after the initial excitement has worn off, because she is impulsive, and at times irresponsible.
Meghan can betray her partner and start a whole new life with someone else as soon as their back is turned. Meghan does not have Her own personality, doesn't know what she wants, and is influenced by those around her.  She knows how to say all the right things, but rarely does the right thing. She often believes She deserves more or better than what She has, and will run from one relationship to another, rarely being single.  Meghan has an over-active imagination and day dreams of flights of fancy. Meghan often runs a fine line between spontaneous and clueless.
THE HIEROPHANT  5 Taurus (April 20 – May 20)     The card of traditional values and Institutions (BRF).   It is associated with preserving establishments and rules/codes of conduct that promotes security and tradition.   The Hierophant can signify that now is a time for Meghan to conform to convention or tradition. It’s not a time to rock the boat.
ACE CUPS (R)  /  Clarifying card. The card of emotional loss, heartache, divorce, fertility and conception issues. Although ties bind both Meghan and Harry together, Meghan feels totally disillusioned that a once promising relationship has failed, and she was wrong about Harry being "the one". News, gossip and rumors will cause more problems in an already volatile relationship. There will be bad or upsetting news, cancelled social events and celebrations. Meghan's constant emotional over-reacting to incidents sees people around her behaving in a negative way.

05/02/2023-New Forest and home
We spent some great time in the New Forest this afternoon, it was wonderful to be in the outdoors with great bits of winter sun and nice winter light with the sun behind the clouds, with the sun lighting up the undulating pine clad landscape and bright yellow gorse I took the ninth picture in this photoset of beautiful gorse and pine with a daisy seen nicely this afternoon too and mistletoe I believe. Breathtaking views and there was such a sense of tranquility being out in the landscape, though not a positive sound the distant roar of traffic was somewhat calming and I enjoyed taking in my surroundings and closing my eyes to listen. I took the sixth picture in this photoset and tenth and final of views today. The sky glorified the afternoon too in terms of beauty too with a terrific red and lingering sunset following the lowering of the sun seen well a stunning scene it was so good to be outdoors watching one in a landscape not something I always get. I took the fifth picture in this photoset of red sky here. And at the end of the walk it was a treasure to look one way and see the sunset and the other see the massive full moon rising the snow moon with mist starting to roll in nearby on the way home. I loved watching this here and on the way home, and trying for photos of this dominant ball in the sky. I took the fourth picture in this photoset of it in the forest. It’s been pleasing to photograph the moon growing every second day since Monday culminating in the show piece full moon tonight. A typical chilled winter afternoon turned to evening which it was fulfilling to be out in.
We had come here this afternoon as we had been told this place was good for viewing Hen Harriers, and were extremely lucky that with the help of a volunteer monitoring them and another person we saw two of these regal birds, gliding through the sky like boomerangs. It was a pleasure to observe there impressive size. A ringtail female and we just caught sight of the milky plumage of a male against a distant pine tree. Amazing sightings of this bird I adore which we are so thankful for and feel so lucky to have. It feels fantastic to have seen them in back to back years after seeing one at Pig Bush in the New Forest last year in November. The male only the third time I’ve seen one so this felt special, it’s the eighth time I’ve seen them overall. It’s always an extremely good day when you see a Hen Harrier. To make it a sensational afternoon of New Forest winter raptor watching we saw a Merlin flying insect like especially in size comparison to the Hen Harriers through the air and saw one maybe the same one later as dusk approached fly right over us almost silhouetted as the light faded, it was astonishing to see this little falcon fly and settle in a valley type area. This allowed for brilliant views of this bird, only the fourth time I’ve ever definitely seen a Merlin the previous three after some maybes before coming last year and today’s arguably the best views it felt like a pivotal moment in this great habitat for them for me to get used to seeing and identifying them. It’s always good I think if we can see a bird in a year that was new for us last year, a nice little challenge and it helps the current year compete with my other year lists as it’s something no other year list prior to the last one had and for a life tick last year so early on 4th January 2022 we’ve ensured we’ve done this fairly early this year. Some incredible moments, and we had some great wildlife chats with the two people who we are so thankful to. It was good to see two of my birds of the year as my strong start to the year continues, my first year ticks of February to make my year list to 132 and what a two. I think I will look back on this afternoon with fondness, it made me so happy seeing these birds and it really hits a sweet spot for me that we got into the forest and got to see them it’s a reminder of the wilderness quality of the New Forest with these species and what phenomenal species it has to offer.
Also this afternoon it was nice to see a beautiful group of Linnets, chirping Meadow Pipit, Carrion Crow, a dainty Fallow Deer shuffling through the vast landscape into the cover of a gorse clump, New Forest Ponies shining in the sunlight and hear possible Raven, an insect flying and something singing really beautifully in a pine tree towards the end.
At home today I enjoyed great views of Collared Doves as the second and third pictures I took today in this photoset show and Starling as shown in the eighth picture in this photoset in and around the garden in nice light and the surroundings in the sun as well as nice sky scenes with one of the trees out the back which feels like it had autumn leaves not all that long ago with buds and a bit of lichen it seems which was nice. The buddleia bushes in the garden and ones visible from my room seem to look more energetic and green. Alongside promising bits of its yellow flowers again, in a sun kissed forsythia bush out the front before we left to come out we enjoyed seeing the Dunnock a revelation of our garden bird scene and a new one to it this winter which it was precious to see and photograph I got the first picture in this photoset of it. On the way to the forest we saw the Great White Egret by Broadlands which was nice. It was fascinating getting on for an hour after sunset time whilst dark to see red clouds still when we got back this evening and enjoy the epic full snow moon again. I took the seventh picture in this photoset of the moon at the time of the full moon which I’d not done before I don’t believe.
Yesterday as we traveled to Manchester to watch a football match with our local Manchester United Supporter’s Branch as we do occasionally it was great to see Buzzards on the motorway, geese flying over a couple of times Greylag Geese or Canada Geese, a verge overcome with beautiful purple crocuses when getting into Manchester which was good to see and daffodil shoots and mustard flower I believe there. It was also good to see the growing moon peeping through the clouds on the way back and when home. Another amazing and unforgettable weekend, I hope you all had a good one.
