imagine someone saying this to you out loud. like standing there looking you in the face, uttering the words “full nut” with an extra enunciation on the T.
now imagine it’s an instagram caption.
now imagine the person in the photo accidentally blurred the left side of the photo.
…what’s your move?

(NATM posting)
I know the majority of people don’t usually listen to country music but what if someone (me, it’s probably going to be me) made an animatic of Jedtavius because so often can I imagine Jed singing his little heart out to Octavius, particularly country music (because cowboys, country, you get it)
Anyways my point is what country songs would be good for this?

school band au prompts
these are suited to the person who requested as they wanted a new lead singer to join the band. feel free to use :)
moments to include or consider:
details about why the former lead singer was hospitalized/why they’re no longer the lead singer
did the whole band like the former lead singer? do they like the new one more or less than the other one and does that change throughout the story? if so, why?
the moment they’re first introduced: what are the bands reactions? did they know each other prior?
how large is the band? writing with a huge cast is very hard…
what are the stakes? why is it imperative they find a new lead singer asap ? is there an upcoming competition, etc?
how long have they all known each other and how does it shape the way they interact?
were there tryouts for the new lead singer or did they get it by default because no one else wanted it?
are the band members guarded? if so, why?
is there any romance blooming between any of the members? how does that shape their dynamics? i.e. if there was romande between the former lead singer and the bass player and now there is between the new lead singer and the bass player (which is drama central..)
do they hang out outside of practice?
the moment they first make good music together: how are you going to get the magic of that moment across in writing?
moments where they actually help each other (see prompt list for more ideas)
yikes… the awkward moment when the lead singer comes back and they have to split up the new group
why does the lead singer want to be a part of the band?
prompts:
“i love your voice.” “thank you. so do i get the role?”
new lead singer looking at all of them in disbelief because they’ve just said “there are no tryouts. we decide if you get to be the lead singer or not.”
“are you coming to practice today?” “do i have a choice?” “no.”
“you’re holding it wrong.” “i’m not holding it wrong.”
“your voice is flat.” “your face is flat.” *audible gasp throughout the band room*
“can we try that set again?”
“this just means a lot to me.” “it means a lot to me, too.”
“you’re not taking this seriously.” “i’m taking this seriously. you guys are still stuck on your other lead singer.”
“we got a gig.” “we got a gig????” “WE GOT A GIG!!!!!”
“you’re skipping practice again.” “yeah… but it’s to hang out with my fellow bandmates so it doesn’t count <3”
“it was fun singing and playing with you guys. thank you for making me feel loved.”
FOUND FAMILY. THATS ALL THANK YOU
ACTUALLY NO THATS NOT ALL. it’s especially better when all the bandmates range in age so like some of them are the cute younger siblings and some are the stoic older siblings
cough cough. lemonade mouth inspiration?….. u didn’t hear it from me!..

Hiii! Not a request but a question, I hope that's alright!
Seeing your writing has made me pretty inspired and I've been wanting to do trolls fics of my own! I've been struggling a lot w some characters, though, especially Floyd
My question is how you figure out their personalities and way of speaking enough to write for them? Unlike the others, we don't really see much of Floyd outside of his brothers TwT so I'm just not sure how to get his character right, but I feel like you do him justice! Feel free not to answer btw!! Hope you're doing well ♡♡
I actually really love answering questions like that, or generally any writing-based question; as long as I help people get inspired to write or help them in their creative journey, that’s what I am here for after all!
So, personally, my way of writing tends to be a little different than other people’s (at least I think it is) but my way of researching characters tends to be the same. So I’m going to try and do some sort of justice of explaining this! Bear with me please and if you have any other questions just ask me.
With characters like Floyd, I tend to find him easier to do. Both because I focused a lot on him during the movie and when it first released, and because he has such little screen time. Of course that’s both a blessing and a curse, because not many will realize that Floyd has a slightly sarcastic way of humor (or at least I didn’t the first few times watching the movie).
Yet with any character you would want to research on them! And that’s a little easier written than done but this is what I did for JD (who was harder for me to grasp on):
When I first saw the movie, I thought JD was what he was first presented as. A rude bastard who didn’t know when his family was upset and pushed them to do things anyways. And while he’s a little bit of that he’s actually a lot more.
Unlike Floyd, JD gets a bunch of screen time that writers should take advantage of! If the background, if you watch JD, you can see the little things that make him not fully a jerk. Such as the upset look he gets whenever a brother goes to Branch first instead of him, and yet how he tries to act like it didn’t bother him. Showing no matter how much of a hard ass he was he does actually are about his brothers in his own weird way.
I also looked upon different sites and saw what they described his personality as. Then I watched the movie, picked what I thought to be true, and honestly that’s what I go on. It’s kind of always changing because no matter how ‘cannon’ you’re trying to write a character there should always be a little self influence of you in them.
Not saying to completely derail a character and make them not cannon, but have fun with it. Take aspects of their character as you wish and just keep practicing and rewriting lines until you feel like it’s correct.
But JD is always harder for me to do, so that’s why I want to do him more. The more practice the better.
For characters like Floyd, who have minimum screen time, I find easier because they don’t have a stricter personality box. From what we see in the movie, what I’ve gathered from websites and other writers (reader other people’s work! They might actually inspire how you write a character a lot), Floyd is sensitive yet witty. He’s smart and caring.
That’s our base line, four traits that are easy to write because they don’t have much to them. THEYRE just traits! Then we can take a few of Floyd’s voice lines to base how can mimic speaking like him; And he speaks a little like Branch but a little on the nicer tone to people he actually cares about.
I don’t know if that makes sense or if it actually helps at all, but it’s a weird process. It’s all about how do you make yourself most comfortable playing and writing the character. Do we much research as you need, take your time! There’s no rush to publish fan fictions, there’s no rush to do anything.
Remember to post only what you’re proud of and what you enjoy. Writing is a process that gets slightly easier the more you practice it, and sometimes it gets harder. But just enjoy it along the way and write only when it feels right. :)
But happy writing and please tag me in any post you publish! I’ll love to read your work.

Cirrus: If a sexual harasser tells you a “joke”, do not laugh. Not even a nervous laugh. They will mistake your nervous laughter for compliance. Instead, act like you don’t get it and ask them to explain the joke and why it’s “funny”. Once a sexual harasser has to explain their inappropriate “jokes”, they stop laughing.
Cumulus: Doesn’t even have to be a sexual harasser. Use it for those Schrodinger’s Asshole types. They claim to be “joking” when they’re really just being mean? Make them explain the joke. Don’t let them off the hook either; be very persistent until they have no choice but to explain themselves.

“I won’t go nearly so far as to say that everything that came up in the 60’s was valid, but as far as I’m concerned, the 60’s were to what will come as Greece was to democracy. Remember that in the 60’s the political officeholders had lost all touch with the needs of the nation…kind of like the Bush administration now. Back then the voice of the establishment, Life magazine, was discovered to have doctored photos falsely indicating that LSD caused chromosomal damage. That proved what we (then) kids already knew: that those at the top preached fair play and honesty, but had no more need to honor those concepts than what would give them the next dollar without too much trouble. We saw perfectly clearly that we were on our own, that no one in authority cared about us. Now, like any bunch of kids left to their own devices, some, many, went off the rails. Every false step by somebody walking around under the cloak of the liberal hippy 60’s was used as a pretext for dissing the entire generation. Those of us who were truly interested in liberty, fraternity and equality, however, knew we were onto something good and real. What had been called democracy was, and to some extent still is, a pretext for wrapping the will of the greedy and aggressive in a mantle of public acquiescence. Now, the business of wresting power away from those who make a specialty of wielding it will be a long and protracted struggle, with a lot of setbacks along the way. The outlines of the new style of governance are only dimly perceivable, and won’t become clear for a long time to come. In the meantime, our job is to practice the principles of fairness and service to the extent possible. One thing is clear: there is a much higher joy in service than there is in acquisition of wealth. (Remember that it isn’t money that’s the root of all evil, it’s the love of money.) Hanging together in brother - and sisterhood is so happy-making you want to sing right out loud. Yeah, I feel the same about those ideas as I did then…in case you couldn’t tell. heheheh, Peter” - Ask Peter Tork
“I believe very much in all that I believed in back in the 60’s. I hope I’m more aware of the practicalities than I was then, but I am positive that the values and principles I held then are critical to the well-being of the planet, or at the very least, critical to growth and contentment in the population. As to the practicalities: the chance of no more war in our lifetimes is so close to zero that I don’t imagine it possible, tho’ there well may be progress along these lines. May be. Sometimes I see the world as an eternal horse race between salvation and dissolution, now one, and now the other gaining the lead. But to the extent that we can learn, each and all of us, that the cooperative good is good for the greatest individual good (with safeguards, to be sure), that forgiveness is the route to true inner peace, and that not everything we deem wrong or bad may be so, to that extent hassles of all shapes, sizes and colors will diminish. I am so sure of all this that I would, I hope, be willing to bet my life on these principles.” - Peter, Ask Peter Tork (x / x)

Do you have any advice on how I can learn angles, poses etc...?
@xoxod3v1l I am quite literally the last person you should be asking for advice cause I am below subpar… but I will share a few things I’ve picked up.
I know people hate to hear it, but practicing is your friend. I know a lot of people suggest using reference photos, but the way I learned was from real life; I watch people in motion as opposed to a photograph. There’s nothing wrong with photos, but I find them to be constricting when you are trying to convey some semblance of movement in your image. When I lived in the city, I used to take a sketchbook to the mall, sit in the food court, and just draw what I saw in motion. They weren’t always carefully crafted and proportionate; a lot of the time, I just scribbled stick figures with a bit of meat to them. Because your subject is on the move, you have to draw quickly if you want to develop what you see into a specific pose. I’ll use a feral Swiss as an example: instead of finding a photograph/reference photo, I played a video clip of the ghoul losing his little ghoul mind on loop and tried to feel what he was trying to say with his body. I wasn’t sure how I wanted it to look, so I scribbled out several “stick figures” before I found one I felt like developing into a sketch. I keep the scribble off to the side as my “reference photo” and just build off of that. I developed the pose by alternating between watching him move in the video and what my mind’s eye was seeing in a stationary image.
Tumblr media
Sometimes I don’t draw stick figures first. Sometimes I just start build-a-ghoul and go from there. I think about how my body feels as I draw, using my mental map of my body as a reference. Being aware of how your body feels as you draw is helpful because I feel like it helps assist me in developing what kind of pose I’m trying to say. Drawing is a conversation with yourself; your mind is talking to your body about what the body has to say, and then your body responds with its own advice. From there, the mind starts talking to your drawing hand until you find what you like on the canvas, using loose strokes as you go (I find keeping my hand loose as I draw gives my brain less time to fret over getting it perfect on the first go).
Tumblr media
Once you map your body on the canvas, then you can flesh it out a little more. You can be a little more defined with your strokes, because you have a stronger feeling as to what you are trying to say with your pose.
Tumblr media
I stroooongly recommend looking into drawing lessons. They don’t have to be a formal school setting; I learn a lot from artists that post their creative process. Not just step-by-step tutorials, but how they form what they want to convey. Watch people livestream their drawings as they’re doing them. Watch time-lapse videos from start to finish. Aaron Blaise has some really good videos, and I’ve downloaded quite a few of his lessons (creatureartteacher.com). My best advice though is to draw from real life. Reference photos are fine, of course, I use them from time to time, but I personally like the touch of learning to draw quickly from moving subjects. That was where I first started learning to draw. It helps you develop a sense of movement and bodily awareness as you draw. Kind of a holistic approach to drawing, I guess lol; I usually draw by feeling the pose in my body, over replicating the pose from a picture. Warm up before you start drawing; it doesn’t have to be good, it doesn’t have to be proportionate, no one ever has to see it. I currently have 306 canvases open in my drawing program, and I’d say a good 289 of them are just warm up sketches. Sketches I’ll one day close without ever sharing. Don’t get too attached to your warm up sketches (unless you plan on developing them into a more coherent sketch later). Warming up is pretty much the only time I’ll use reference photos; any other time, I’m using gifs/videos/models in motion. The pose will make itself known from there.
But seriously, my art is terrible so… sorry if this doesn’t help any. 😅
Also sorry for how long this post ended up being….
