Hi! Let's see what I can come up with..

LIGHTING/GRAPHICS MODS Easy to use/install, lighting mods can change the look of your game drastically with little effort! I use a few:

no-glo

no-blu

graphicsrules override

I use this camera mod too, much less drifty...

Softerhaze makes some bomb ass lighting mods too.. I just switched from twinkle toes to sunblind and I am in LOVE - gamechanger lemme tell you.. so pretty! LOOKIT!!

RESHADE I'm still using g-shade at the moment but after recent events, I'll probably end up switching back again when I can be arsed. The effects you can achieve with reshade presets are amazing tbh.. and it's real fun to mess around with and create your own! Tho lots of people have made awesome ones if that's a bit much for you. If your PC can't handle it all too well you can always just switch it off until it's time to take screenies as well.

COMPOSITION Kinda hard to explain but basically, composition is what's in your frame and how you line it all up. I'd recommend reading some photography guides to get the gist of the concept.. but honestly, the more you mess around the more you'll get the hang of it. I've always loved photography and sims screenies really aren't so different. If you use reshade there's even some templates for thirds/the golden ratio etc you can slap on top for practice. Personally I don't use 'em cos I prefer my own judgement (that sounds rlly obnoxious but we're rolling with it). I found a template to show you what I mean! (ngl I was stoked that the first screenie I thought of for being a good eg. almost perfectly fit into this golden ratio shit LOL) but let's keep in mind how long I scooted around to get a good shot of this.. pretty sure I deleted about 10 other failed shots of this but shhhh, it's trial and error!

ANGLES/FOCUS The way you take a shot and how you angle it can change the whole feel of the image. For example.. in this image I tilted down and bit and filled over two thirds of the shot with the man, he's a big character and quite an intimidating guy so I think it helps get the idea across without pointing it out (at least I think so but idk I could also be talking outta my ass)

Similarly in these two shots below.. the first with the guy on the left gives the feel that he's in control here. The "camera" is tilted above him slightly and he's all up in your face, making the woman look much smaller in comparison. BUT! If you flip around to the second image, tilt down a bit and switch the focus to her, it makes him look more insignificant and less in control. I hope this makes sense??

EDITING/PHOTOSHOP ACTIONS ETC Personally I don't use photoshop actions but there's plenty out there to do the work for you! I think Intramoon? maybe.. has made a few but idk, you guys feel free to jump in with any suggestions! You can also smooth, fix stuff, change the mood/lighting, all sorts.. my advice on this is patchy at best tbh cos I just faff around until I see what I like lmao.. which leads me on tooooooo...

FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT Lol.. but seriously! I don't know what I'm doing. I've never taken any classes or read up on much, I always just jump in and see what happens. Fuck around with reshade, fuck around with camera mods, fuck around with composition/focus, fuck around with photoshop or gimp or w/e.. just mess about for a while and have fun! I promise you'll get better.

📖TIPS: Focus stacking

Hello everyone,

I'm @jbarchietto and I'm honored to have been contacted by Brickcentral to offer you the tips for month September.

I'd like to talk about a technical subject that you probably won't use every day, but which can be very useful in certain cases, and which I use regularly in my photography: the focus stacking.

During photo shoots, we're generally looking for good sharpness on the main subject. However, it can happen that the depth of field used is too shallow to fully contain the subject. In such cases, the focus stacking technique can help us to enlarge this area.

In this first example, I wanted to show a caravan of forestmen in the forest. It's quite long, and as it's framed in depth, I can't get both the leading figures and those in the background in focus. I'm going to use the technique described:

I've set the aperture of my lens to its sharpest point, the famous "sweet spot", around f/8. And I'm going to take a series of photos, sweeping the entire focus area from the closest to the furthest point. To do this, you need a tripod, so as not to change the framing between each shot, and set your camera to manual focus. To be sure of scanning the entire subject, I can mark the focus interval on the lens ring. Personally, I use the visual aid of my monitor. Then I photograph my images, which can vary according to the width of the zone. In this case, 10 images.

The rest of the process takes place on the computer, where you process the stack of images. With your photo editing software, or with dedicated software such as Helicon Focus, which you can try out as a demo. The algorithm will isolate the sharp areas of each image to recompose an entirely sharp image.

And then, the Final picture is processed. I’m working with raw files, so I can edit the final picture just as a regular shot to enhance colors or add details. I couldn't have achieved such a depth of field with a single shot, unless I reoriented the subject to bring it more into focus.

1-year Gposing Anniversary!

Today is the day I consider my gposing anniversary--the first time I did a 'photo shoot' specifically for the point of sharing with others :) So, I wanted to take some of my earlier pictures and remake them, to see how far I've come! :)

(Why not the first photo shoot though, you may ask? I already redid the pictures to revamp the Eorzea Collection post that first shoot was for.)

I can't do this without revisiting my first custom Anamnesis pose. It was mainly the result of me poking around the tool and figuring out how it works, but I was still happy with the result.

But it's anniversary time, so it time for a remake!

To be honest, though, there wasn't too much wrong with the pose in and of itself, besides the fingers. It is just a tweak of an in-game idle pose, after all. So what I did was use the same shader and put a bit more thought into the framing and background!

And I fixed the fingers. You can't see it but I fixed them, trust me 😌

Next, I wanted to remake my first couples pose. I remember learning so much from trying this one out, but I also had a lot of trouble with a lot of things... and I think it took about six hours total. This set was definitely a trial. I saved and loaded these poses a few months ago too, and hoo boy. There was a lot happening, lol, and most of it was not good.

The reshoot is more of a reimagining, though. Unlike the other shoots where I replicated most of the image, I've changed the outfits, some of the background, and tweaked the poses a fair bit.

Let's face it, when I first tried this pose I was out of my depth, and now, with a deeper understanding not only of Anamnesis but how to frame pictures and choosing shaders, I have a couples pose set that looks far more natural and soft.

Next is this picture. At the time I was still getting the hang of post editing, and also was dealing with some... oddities with the dress. Which had me crop the shot at an unusual resolution.

But now, I know how to be more subtle with my post-editing and shaders, and I've gotten better with lighting, too. In general result looks more natural :)

Finally, I have this photo shoot with Laurent. This one was special to me because it's the first time I used some really dramatic lighting, and I still really liked how it turned out.

However, there were issues with other parts of the composition (the giant knife, everything being shot from the same angle, etc) and I always wanted to give this another try :)

It's a bit brighter this time around due to the changed location, but the lighting still feels pretty dramatic. This time I did some different, more dynamic angles, and I took a bonus picture :)

Oh, and I learned how to scale weapons down. Why are weapons so huge in this game...?

I really enjoyed remaking some of these shoots--while I knew I've improved over the year I started, being able to see the differences side by side really lets me see my growth.

I have 48 works there, and there's a few (including my very first long fic and very first NaNoWriMo novel) that are only on Fanfiction.net.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

562,503 words total. To be honest, considering the amount of long fics I've written, I'm a little surprised it isn't higher, but also I'm bad at estimation.

3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Treasures of time - JigLup one-shot, emotional angst with a happy ending (221 kudos)

Up in the mountains - JiGoe getting together (197 kudos)

In the middle Part 2 - Polygang getting together (150 kudos)

We are beginning - Goemon POV Polygang fluff drabble (140 kudos)

How to make a gunman snap - JigLup not-quite-porn-without-a-plot one-shot (133 kudos)

It's mostly one-shots and old-ish long fics, which I am a bit surprised about - but then again, they have had more time to collect kudos.

4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! Unless a comment is just two words and I don't know what to answer, I always reply, at least to say thank you.

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don't really write angsty ending. The closest to an angsty ending would be Adieu (a Netflix Lupin alternate ending one-shot).

EDIT I forgot about my entire MorMor period skjlsjkldjkl so yeah my angstiest fic is Bang Bang, a MorMor post-Reichenbach one-shot based on the song by Nancy Sinatra.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

They all end well, so I can't really designate a specific one.

7. Do you write crossovers?

I've written I think one crossover ever, a Discworld/Harry Potter fic way back in the day. I'm not gonna link it because it was bad, but it's on my AO3 if you're interested and you can read French.

However I have a BUNCH of AUs that I haven't written up into fics: Lupin III/Discworld, Lupin III/Ewilan's Quest, and an ooooooold MorMor (or Mor4)/X-Men AU that I did write a couple of unpublished one-shots for.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I haven't, thankfully!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I've written one smut scene several years ago, it was very difficult and awkward to do, but in retrospect I think the result was alright. I'm planning to try again. The past try and the upcoming one are both scenes in longer plotty fics, I've never written PWPs.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge.

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I've translated my own fics (usually from French to English)

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I haven't; but I did co-write half of an original novel with my best friend, and the possibility of finishing it isn't off the table.

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

LUPIN III POLYGANG. And all variations thereof.

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I started a Lupin III Polygang soulmate AU fic, I really want to carry on with it because I love that specific soulmate concept, but I don't really have a plan for what's going to happen in it; and wouldn't you know it, it's waaaayy more difficult to write a soulmate AU fic for five people than for two.

15. What are your writing strengths?

I think dialogue and banter; when I get in the right frame of mind, it practically writes itself. I'm pretty good at writing pacing in action scenes I think.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

I tend to write looooooong paragraphs about character's feelings that kind of get out of hand.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I love doing it, and including foreign words, but I have to restrain myself otherwise my fics would be unreadable.

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Discworld. I discovered fanfiction through a Discworld forum. Although to be honest, I think the first thing I ever wrote that qualified as fanfic was the begining and vague plot outline of a self-insert isekai next-gen story in the universe of Ewilan's Quest, my childhood favourite book series. Ewilan's Quest was a huge and formative part of my childhood, and the reason I wanted to become a writer as a kid. And Discworld was my favourite novel series after that, and it solidified my desire to write stories. Both series are still very dear to me; so it's unsurprising, and very fitting, that my introduction to fanfic and writing was these two fandoms.

19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

I'd like to write a Zenigen fic, if I ever find a precise idea for it.

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

That tends to change a lot. Lately, it would be Become, a one-shot about Lupin's journey of finding out he's trans after meeting Jigen; and Hanafuda, my ongoing WIP, a JiGoe florist/tattooist AU where Jigen and Goemon both quit crime before they met and are trying to juggle between their new normal lives, their dark pasts, and what they really want out of life... and their pesky little feelings for each other.

1.) What’s your favourite sims death?

honestly, the classic, putting a sim in a pool and then taking out the ladder. theres no common sense to the action it's just genuinely so funny.

technically im maxis mix, but i tend to lean very hard to maxis match clothing.

no not really. if i want them to loose weight i'll have them work out

yeah, i've tried on multiple occasions, but none of them have ever really captured my essence all that well. eventually i gave up and just started using my mascot sim, Nellie, for my quote-on-quote "branding"

#1 What was your introduction to Red, White and Royal Blue? How did you become aware of it, what was your first impression of it?

I didn't know anything about it until @petitmimosa started rambling about it a few weeks/couple of months(?) ago. I think she saw the trailer on prime, read the book then watch the movie? I was only half listening (she rambles a lot about a lot of stuff) because I was pretty sure I wouldn't be interested at all (romcoms aren't really my thing).

Then FREAKING TUMBLR decided that RWRB would be the only thing I'll be seeing on my dash for days and days. So I'd say to myself, if I'm going to be forced to look at pics and gifs of these two guys AGAIN and AGAIN, may as well know what this is all about. So I've watched the movie and surprisingly had a good time. And since Internet (and algorithms) keeps showering with rwrb content (nothing else is happening in the cinema industry anyway), I've decided to roll with it and enjoy the said content. I read the book quickly after and even if it was fun, I think I like the movie better.

#2 Team Alex or Team Henry? (I know you love them both equally but choose anyway. OR choose depending of the circumstances. Like, "I’d go shopping with Alex but I’d marry Henry. Or I’d hug Alex but I’d go karaoke with Henry. I don’t know. Try something.)

Even if I like Henry and find him very precious, I think I'm Team Alex. I like how refreshing he is. You can't really be sad watching him and not only because he looks cute af. But all love to both, obviously.

#5 Choose one scene from the book to add to the movie.

I'm not sure because I don't know the book that well but I know how I felt reading this

“Dear Thisbe, I wish there weren’t a wall. Love, Pyramus”

and I wish they'd found a way to include it in the movie. Maybe not in the way of the book, because that might have not worked as best as it should but in some way. I don't know.

#7 Tell us something you like better in the movie than in the book.

Oh man, so many things. One of the main thing, I like that Alex is more freaked out by being into Henry that being into guys in general in the movie. There are important scenes following, about owning the term bisexual in front of other people but being into guys feels less a big (and long) deal than in the book for him. Which is good. I feel like the "i'm bi, so what?" is a good mood to put out there in 2023.

I know the point has been quite a debate here and there so I hope I put the right words to express my view on this.

And tell us something you like better in the book than in the movie. 

A couple of things :

I would have liked for Bea to have a bit more substance as a character in the movie.

and, and that could have been an answer to the "share an unpopular opinion", I'm not the biggest fan of the parisian night scene. Not by Taylor and Nick's fault because the shots of their faces and how they acted are very delicate but I'm very not into the directing, the blocking and the editing of this scene. If felt too heavily romcom coded for my taste (and for my french person leaving near Paris' eyes), when one of the strength of the movie (for me) is being fresh and fun with the romcom codes.

10- You’re in a difficult situation where you have only one call to get help (or to save your life), who are you calling? Amy, Zahra or Ellen?

Zahra, every day, everywhere. I wouldn't trust anyone more than someone who reminds me that much of Sam Marquez in the tvshow Las Vegas.

13- A detail you feel like it’s not enough discussed. Whether it’s a scene, a quote, a frame, a piece of acting, a decor…) Time to ramble about it!

Oh I have two actually! The first good thing I have said about the movie is how much I like the opening credits. The music is good, the visuals are good, I like it a lot.

The second has probably been discussed over and over (and my recording sucks) but

I need daily screaming about the softest, smoothest, most determined "no." I ever heard in my entire life.

14- Favorites outfit(s) in the movie? (You can pick as many as you want, from as many characters as you want. But if you reply with a screenshot of a naked person, I’m going to put you in horny jail).

My only regret is that he's not wearing matching pants (there must be matching pants, right?) cause I feel like AGCD wouldn't have shy away from them. And that would have been epic.

Hello! I'm so glad that you enjoyed my videos! My software is not fancy at all and might be a bit of a letdown tbh lol

For drawing I used to use Paint tool sai (which i think is what a lot of ppl use) but it wasn't working right on my computer, it wouldn't let me save my images. I got it off of some Japanese website and it was $19 (USD). Now I use the app that came with my computer. I have a Windows computer. It's called Sketchbook (oOoOh, so fancy lol) and it is limited in terms of brushes and pen pressure but I like it. Very easy to figure out. I also have Krita which I think I had to pay for. I don't remember how much tho, I want to say $15 (USD)?? Maybe? It is much more complex and lets you do things like animate but I don't use it bc I'm too lazy to figure it out lol I know there's a lot of great tutorials online tho. I also know a lot of ppl use Procreate which is much better especially in terms of brushes but it's not compatible w my computer :( Procreate costs $10 (USD) I think.

As for editing, I use Shotcut. It's a free software that I downloaded from somewhere, I don't remember. It is definitely limited in terms of filters, camera angles, and what you can put in it but hey, it's free! The one thing I hate the most abt it is you can't pan. It drives me insane. But it has zoom, text, filters, etc. I used to use Filmora which is also free but is even more limited and I think it puts a watermark on your videos.

Now for tips!

Uhh, I guess the most obvious is practice. I started doing animatics four years ago and I can't watch any of my old ones now, they're so bad lol

Another thing is vary your shot type. If you have a couple ppl doing smth together, do close ups, medium shots, and wide shots. Try different camera angles. It's ok to do the same type of shot a couple times in a row but after a while it can get boring.

An extension of the last point, if a character does smth like knock a thing over or move it or whatever, show the object moving and then their reaction. Reaction shots are very important for character's emotions. Wide shots to establish a setting.

As an extension of that point, watch your favorite show/movie and watch how they film it, when they zoom in, how they frame the characters etc. I've spent so much time doing that lol (WWDITS might not be the best example bc it's a documentary but it should still work pretty well)

In terms of moving characters/making it smooth, layers are going to be ur best friend lol I end up with so many layers when I make a video. It's partially because I'm scared to delete layers in case I need them later but it's also helpful to see a character's last position. If they're on the left and need to move to the right, draw them on the left, copy the layer, and move the new layer a little bit using the original one as a reference point. Continue until they've made it. Same thing if they're moving their hand up or whatever. Use old layers as reference points to avoid jumpiness.

Because animating/drawing in general is hard and time consuming and I'm lazy I try to reuse shots/poses as much as I can. Again if you have a character going from left to right and then later in the video going right to left, save the left to right layers. You can just flip them to make it look like they're going right to left and now you don't have to draw it again! This can be tricky tho bc you don't want your video to get repetitive like I said before. So do it but do it sparingly lol

THUMBNAIL FIRST! This is very helpful. Just make a bunch of little boxes with stick figures mapping out what's going to happen in ur video. It doesn't have to look good at all, it's just so you don't forget what's going to happen/get lost. This is mine for the video of Laszlo and Nadja dancing:

I put notes on this one so I remember what the actions and camera angles are. Since I was copying an already choregraphed dance here, I did that in black and then put in more interesting camera angles in blue on a different layer so it wasn't two minutes of the same full body shot

Walter Murch In the Blink of an Eye: A Perspective on Film Editing

Murch asserts that by looking at the fringe or extreme cases of things tells you more about the average than the average itself does.

Editing is not a "putting together" it is a "discovery of a path". I love the sentiment that editing is not just a thoughtless action and not a paring down/cutting away but more of a joyful foraging sort of activity that requires backtracking and new direction.

In my opinion, cuts are one of the major standout techniques of film. As a medium, the fact that you can splice in and blink to another place/time makes it astonishingly different from theatrical/live dance/opera formats. It's part of why I don't think theater's should be afraid of pro-shots because it's so different to watch a theater piece where you can cut to a close up of an actors face still in time. That's a different emotional experience than watching a theatrical piece, which will still draw an audience for the live, complete stage picture.

I don't......... know that I agree about total continuity in experience until edited film. Theater has always had scene jumps. That's not a cut, but it is a leap in time. Audiences were primed to see things edited by the time film rolled around. Also, we blink, we forget, we are not all bastions of objective experience and neither is film. For whatever reason this assertion of experiencing continuity feels like a claim of objectivity that I don't agree with. I think the cut works because humans love patterns and associations.

"motion within a context" (p6)

Two editors with the same material are like the sequencing code of DNA. They will do different things, in different ways. When and what order is the difference.

Overactive editing makes it so you can't properly enjoy anything. Leave things to the viewers own eye or imagination. Resentment grows from an over-guided audience.

Six cuts: Emotion (51%), Story (23%), Rhythm (10), Eye-trace (7) (the location and movement of the audiences focus of interest w/in frame, think psychic lines in composition), Two Dimensional Plane of Screen (5), 3D Space of Action (4). A good cut would do ALL OF THESE THINGS. But, as you sacrifice, move from the bottom of the list up. Most times, the RIGHT cut will be all six, and you should pursue that cut and dive deep to get it.

Editors should put themselves in the place of the audience and how you want them to feel.

Editors should misdirect like a magician - look here, not there to heighten the feeling of the film.

I think it's charming that Murch tricks his brain into seeing the big picture with paper dolls.

Editors are in a unique position because they are not in the room making the film and yet has so much control over the final product of a film. Just because a shot was hard to make does not mean that it is the right shot, and editors don't have that emotional attachment to those moments. Editors should strive to only see what is on the screen. As a part of that, directors should delete the burden of how hard it was to make the film and dedicate themselves to making the final product the best thing possible.

It's funny to me that for Murch, emotion is the key reason to make a cut but that being unemotional about the reason for a cut seems to be important. Like I understand, your emotion as the editor needs to be based in the audience experience, I just thought that was a funny contradiction of sorts. Some other things this made me think of is of editors more like guides than gods. They bring the tour along, they might find the path and the right foraging spots, but beyond that they need to allow the audience to wander satisfactorily through a piece. I feel like this is why something like "Mad Max: Fury Road" works so well. The story is a pretty simple journey, but the scenes are easy to wander through while still following the core of the movie.

Sayles' Principles of Editing

Two stages of editing: 1. the process of assembling shots into rough cut and 2. the editor and director fine-tuning the rough cut into a "fine cut" (is that fine good or fine ok?)

Dramatic Time - replaces real time in film

Editing should never confuse viewers. The lack of confusion creates narrative clarity.

Seamlessness is important. The seamless, smooth cut should be the editors first goal.

Directors should hand editors a variety of shots. Scenes should have lots of coverage so that editors have a lot of options. Having the correct elements repeated in each of those shots is important.

Sayles seems to prioritize an almost mechanical continuity, it feels like narrative clarity above all else.

It's only once you have that narrative clarity that you can start to carve out the pace and style of the film.

Important parts in a sequence are longer, usually, because we need more time with them. This sets a rhythm to a scene, which feels a lot like pace but it seems to be more about how something ~feels~

Sound, much like picture, editing should guide and strengthen the narrative. Choices should be made in line with those goals. Similarly also to picture editing, once you have the functional narrative driven choices, you can begin making creative choices that punctuate a scene.

Sayles ends on this sort of.... nihilistic note? About how movies have gotten both larger and smaller and rely on spectacle. There's a sort of call to consider what we consume and how we can heighten general art? This seems extremely dramatic to me. I think that movies can be spectacular, popular and still be well crafted. "Everything, Everywhere, All At Once" comes to mind. If I'm being honest, I responded way less strongly to Sayles than Murch. I can respect Sayles from a craft perspective, and I do think it's important to prioritize narrative... if narrative is what you're interested in. As such I can get more behind Murch's emotion-driven idea.

QUESTIONS:

What are "The Six" rules according to Murch? Elaborate on each of "The Six", what do they mean and how do they aid in storytelling? 

The six rules are a series of ideas about how one should prioritize making cuts in editing. I'll list them here in order of importance, from most to least: emotion, story, rhythm, eye-trace, two dimensional plane of screen, three dimensional space of action. Murch says that emotion is how the moment feels and I wonder if that includes how you want the scene to feel to an audience. It is the most important because if you can capture the right emotion, an audience will usually forgive most other things. The next is story, which pertains to the continuity of the story. It is followed by rhythm, which has to do with the cut happening at a time that is interesting and "right". Murch says that these three traits are deeply linked, getting the first right will often lead to also getting the next two right. I believe that storytelling is in part done to evoke an emotion in an audience, thus having your tone right will help the plot advance in the correct pace and rhythm. It's like how you don't expect a golden age movie musical to advance at the same pace as a Baz Luhrmann film. They could be telling the same story and trying to evoke a similar feeling, but between the two moments the tone a cut could set by being at the right place for that films emotion/story/rhythm would make two entirely different things. Eye-trace is the fourth rule and it's the way an audience members eyes move around a frame. My understanding of it is that it's the composition of a shot. This can tell us about character relationships, power or comfort in the context of a shot. According to Murch, getting this right will often lead to at least some success at getting number five, two dimensional plane of screen, right. This fifth idea is about how 3D is transposed into 2D, and understanding the relationship of one to another. It makes sense that having a well-composed shot per eye-tracing leads to a strong sense of the 3D within 2D. And finally, the one Munch says is least important but often prioritized in film school, three dimensional space of action. This trait seems to have most to do with continuity. Continuity can be important in storytelling, if only because a lot of people love accuracy and consistency. That being said, I think we can forgive minor inconsistency if it serves the greater feeling of the piece and heightens the story being told in the way the story wants to be told.

How does Sayles' approach to the same topic of editing? Where do they differ in strategy? 

To my mind, it seems like Sayles prioritizes narrative and continuity over anything else. Once those things are in place, that is when Sayles would start making choices that drive the emotion of the piece. On the other hand, Murch puts narrative in the second slot. It feels as though Murch wants one to carve out the feeling of a thing, and believes that this will create a more dynamic approach to story. Sayles on the other hand wants a solid base to mold on top of. The story needs to function before you can start heightening the base that having a consistent narrative gives you. It also seems like Murch is more interested in a matrix to put shots through. Sayles seems to create a single point through which to edit films and then a second filter. Sayles' approach to me seems like it would need more viewings, Murch's seems like it would get it boldy and loudly wrong more.

What have you watched recently that have utilized or adhered to Murch's tenants of editing? What about Sayles? 

I feel like most Marvel movies would have to focus on Sayles' approach. You've got so many characters and so much spectacle that when you don't keep your eye on the narrative ball the audience is likely to get lost. And you can then heighten the psychic space of the movie with sound, special FX, and editing once you get that strong central narrative working.

For Murch, I feel like something like "The Handmaiden" is really driven by the feeling/atmosphere first. It's a psychological thriller and so we need to fall into the rabbit hole of the characters experiences. The way the characters feel the story is moving is almost more important that the story itself sometimes, especially when the film revisits events in the second act.

But yes I am from Chicago haha, it doesn't seem fancy to me being in Chicago with how expensive downtown can be at times (but then again, when is downtown in ANY big city not expensive?) But it is a lovely place nonetheless, granted don't come now because its cold like the northpole xD but very much recommended the spring time personally! I do hope you have the chance to come to Chicago when things calm down

Ooohh same lol, I can do my nails like a pro but eyeliner ??? I struggle lol. I watched videos on tips but I still can't figure how to not stop my hand from shaking =/ (if any of your followers know a trick do share! Help this noob anon out, i will pay with cookies!) I can do it decent line but its always thick for some odd reason lol. It starts off good in the beginning with a nice thin line but then I go full raccoon mode xD I have big eyes as well so technically not good for my eye shape but it is what it is haha. I do prefer pencil since its easier but I do enjoy the liquid eyeliner look. My current makeup look is eyeliner, mascara and some lip product. I do eyeshadow if I want to be fancy haha but for sure need to look into getting some better products. The ones I do have my eye on are nyx because we love a good mix of free of animal products and cheap, bare minerals is nice as well as well as color pop! For the pricier end fenty and rare beauty are on my list (especially rare omg the lipstick shades are so, so pretty! Especially the color you mentioned ^0^) but ooh we love pinks and orange shades! We love the soft, spring romantic vibes! For me. I like a bit of everything but i do find myself leaning into red, pink, orange shades with a mix of dark tones like a dark wine shade or even black djaksja. My favorite lippie i own is this beautiful orange/brown color? Idk if that is the right way to describe it but it is a pretty color! Jdkandks @ that large lipstick collection, respect haha. I enjoy the old school lip gloss look because i like pretending to feel like an Bratz doll lol.. bb creams are good and I may go with one in the future since it seems a good product to use if you don't want to dive into foundation and such c:

Now skin care wise, I agree! Not all pricey products are better. You can find good products for half the price that works for your skin! It is a trail and error sadly but eventually you will find something that works best for you c: and ooohh i think i have heard of those brands! I'll look at them later to see what they have so thank you for the suggestion!! Lol maybe that's a good thing the brand isn't around where you live xD but true, it is best to not continue with using the products so I will sadly throw them away. I feel bad since I did spend money but if it isn't doing me good skin wise well why ruin my skin more? Garnier is great for sure! I love their micellar water so I may invest in some of their other products! When I will do that, not sure because my parents are a bit strict when it comes to makeup/skin care stuff *sigh*

Oof I do feel like there have been alot of romance plots so we do need a break with some other plot ideas like a good mystery drama for example like let me feel like Sherlock when watching the episodes haha. Hey hey! How was your week/days so far since Valentines? 

Well I had a lot to do and I was mainly busy with work (once again). I am remodelling/redecorating my room as well and I still have lots of plans on it, let’s see how the things end up because I will do it all alone (wish me luck).

Happy you loved that set and I hope you will anticipate my Ten set as well (it’s a secret, not secret anymore but I still haven’t started with it yet I have lots of notes and ideas saved, I just need the courage and time for it).

Oh yeah I knew it hehe as far as I know Chicago looks very modern and seems a bit luxurious, indeed should be a bit expensive in the downtown, but even in my country, downtown is something I usually avoid for hanging out because it’s super super pricy. 

I came across a few fun videos on tiktok and there was a girl doing her eyeliner in one go, like less that 1 second and I was like?? she’s not from this world. I had the chance to try my new bb cream and corrector from nyx and so far I love it, it doesn’t feel heavy or itchy on my skin, also knowing it’s cruelty free, it’s something that stands on my top buy makeup brand list. I used to love lipgloss when I was a child/teen, but not anymore, I wear my hair down and if go out. Forget about it, especially since I live in a windy area. And now with masks I can only wear a no-transfer lipstick or simply lip balm. A brand I think I will try soon will be Cerave, I heard only good things about it and Wayv also promoted it in the past. At that time the brand wasn’t available in my country, now it become quite popular and if the lockdown ends next month, I’ll go to a pharmacy to test the products and (hopefully) buy some. 

As for my drama experience, I started to watch Vincenzo since it’s on Netflix it’s much easier to watch but I didn’t expect the whole comedy twist, I thought that drama was based on a dark-crime-mafia plot, yet I was once again fooled by the trailers. Anyway he looks sooo good for his age, I thought he was in his twenties, just wow! We’re a decade apart, and man! he looks so young, maybe even younger, insane! I should drink more ginseng tea for infinite youth haha Anyway the drama is a stay because I love him so much, he is a very talented actor and hopefully the plot will change as the history will go on.

About Jaehyun and that dad narrative, well yes. Things go out of hand for everyone else not only for him, especially in cases when these words are shoved right into their faces, I would never dare to comment anything like that under their social media or even on personal-interactions, it just seems uncomfortable on many levels. If someone looks hot and sexy, this is what he is and this is what we call them for, magazines and articles describe idols a lot these days with these words and that is ok because it means they have an attractive image that everyone wishes to have or achieve, yes I do get jealous sometimes even if they are men so 😂 but those type of whatever role-playing words, no, niet, nein, não, non. Out of question.

Meanwhile a few comebacks happened and I was excited for it, Shinee’s title song is sooo good and I love the savage lyrics. The rest of the album is also amazing, I have like 3 top favorites. Now I am waiting for Wayv comeback that will happen soon, hope SM won’t disappoint with another low-budget MV, I know we are in a pandemic situation rn but even inside the box, a MV can look stunning. SM take notes from “Make a Wish”, that was simply beautiful and almost everything was shot indoor, stunning effects I want to see again.

And I don’t think I had the chance to ask you, how did you like 127′s Japanese album? I love all the songs and there is non I skip when I play the whole album. I love how different hits from their Korean albums, there is something alluring about it, well the lyrics also suggest that so- I couldn’t miss that huge album that looks like an A3 portfolio so I already ordered one, hopefully by the end of the March I’ll get my hands on it, I can’t wait because the pictures are simply stunning!
