Ice and flame. A prince and a peasant. Whilst hidden in a safe zone one evening, their hearts collide.

"Love at first sight?" Cain isn't someone who'd fall in love that easily. Considering the kind of environment he was born and raised in, he wouldn't be surprised if he never experience the emotion at all. Not like he minds in the slightest, though. "I don't think so," he responds, reluctantly. "I mean, who would even want to have a useless prince as their lover?" He masks his bitterness behind a forced laugh. "So long as the prince in question is you, then, I do," Celeste confesses, bluntly. Cain, son of Jugla. Crown Prince of Northaria. The kingdom of eternal snow and frozen beauty. Despite his blood of pure royalty, he is unable to wield magic. Unlike his adoptive brother, Lutz, many have already deemed him inappropriate to be the throne's heir. So why, in the world, would this peasant servant from the opposing kingdom declare such bold words before him? His mind tells him sternly not to get his hopes up; but his heart, stubborn for some reason, refuses to listen. "Really now?" Cain lets out a strained chuckle. "If you keep spouting gibberish like that, I might just actually fall for you, you know?" Celeste smiles to themselves, and whispers: "You already have, though?"  Cain fixes his gaze onto Celeste; the playful, little spark in their eyes becoming more prominent under the gentle light of the moon. They're both closely enjoying each other's warm company; the large window of an old, abandoned room they have claimed as their own meeting place on lonely, yearning nights like tonight, keeping them safe from the public eye. "I truly cannot win against you, can I?" The crown prince sighs tiredly in defeat. Instead of another smooth comeback, however, Celeste flashes him a sweet smileーhis favoriteーand leans back onto his shoulder comfortably. He then shifts his position a little, so they're now wrapped in a tight embrace from behind. "I'm sorry we have to hide like this every time we meet." "No big deal. Spending time with you in secret is much better than all the chores waiting for me at home." Cain rolls his eyes. "Again with your cheesy punch lines, geez, Celeste, when will you run out of those! But... I can't really call that hellish place of yours a 'home' if I were you..." "Yeah, right. I could say the same for you too but, oh well." Celeste shrugs that last statement away, hoping Cain won't take it as offense. Fortunately, he didn't. "Thanks for worrying about me, your highness." "Nonsense!" Cain furrows his eyebrows. "I'm no prince here. Just call me by my name, you know I prefer that way between us." "Then... I love you, Cain." The full moon seems to have radiated a milder, more mysterious glow, upon hearing those words. The breeze turns cool, the night even quieter. It's in times like these when Cain feels calmest, most relieved and free. No duties to complete, no roles to fulfill, no expectations to live up to and surpass. The exact same case applies to Celeste too, despite the huge gap in the status they bear. Squeezing them ever so tightly, but not too hard now, as if he's afraid that he'll lose them if he holds on to more than what's necessary, Cain returns the weight of his heart that solely belongs to them. "I love you too, Celeste. I promise. In every lifetime that will eventually be granted to us, I'll find you. And I’ll come back to you." "Oh my, look who's the romantic one now!" Celeste laughs, lightheartedly; their expression, softening. “I don’t think I’m someone worthy of that much time but... I look forward to seeing you again, and again, and again, my Prince.”  And yet another forbidden rendezvous concludes as their foreheads touch, noses brush, and lips meet, at long last, from within their only safe zone.

Initially, I thought Cailitn and Connor were twins or at least the same class.

I'm going through and updating my Docs and Sheets on the characters right now, and I've been considering making them British engines instead of American engines. It just makes much more sense to me as well as helping with the size issue. American engines are typically massive. Take this photo of LMS 6229 Duchess of Hamilton (streamlined) and a BO P-7 class for example.

To clarify, I love Caitlin and Connor as they are! Definitely two of my favorite CGI-only characters from T&F, but I just don't think their basis are correct for this. Think about it.

The Earl is ALL about preservation and to me, it just seems like he'd be more interested in preserving non-streamlined steam engines more than streamlined steam engines. Maybe that's a better reason as to why he chose Caitlin and Connor, but unless he's having them travel all over the United Kingdom, why would they be streamlined. Originally, I assumed they would go to Barrow-in-Furness from Ulfstead Castle with no stops, which is somewhat the case.

And then their size becomes the issue. I'm trying to stick as close as to real-life circumstances as I can, and having them be cut down to size isn't an option I want to default to when it comes to American steam engines working on the North Western Railway. I'm already using the "they were just built different for UK railways" storyline for another character.

So I'm currently considering the following locomotives:

LNER A4s: I know I questioned the streamlining situation but I think it makes more sense for them if I do have them travel the majority of the United Kingdom to collect passengers for Ulfstead Castle. This would be an interesting option because they'd act so differently to Spencer, considering they're privately owned like him.

LMS Coronation Class: This is could work either way because I'm also considering the possibility that the journeys had to be stopped at Barrow-in-Furness when dieselisation happened and the last of the steam engines were withdrawn from service. At that point, streamlining is unnecessary so the casings are removed.

LMS Princess Royal Class: If I decide not to go the streamlined route or I want to make one of them a different class.

These were chosen for multiple reasons, those being:

I would like to keep the single survivors as they are, like Blue Peter, Tornado, Flying Scotsman, and Duke of Gloucester, which they will be joined by Hengist, a BR Standard 6. This already knocks off the LNER Gresley A3s, LNER Peppercorn A1s, LNER Peppercorn A2s, BR Standard 8, and BR Standard 6.

Go for a class that isn't made up of one example, such as the single BR Standard Class 8, Duke of Gloucester, and GWR 111, The Great Bear.

Cannot be classes that have already been used, keeping that heavy diverse of classes on the Island of Sodor and character roster in general. This knocks off the SR Merchant Navies, as well as the SR Battle of Britians and West Countries, and the LMS Royal Scots, rebuilt and unrebuilt for all three.

Not to use any recent classes, specifically BR. This crosses off the BR Standard 7.

Drop classes that wouldn't have survived by at least the 1950s. This crosses out the LNER Raven A2s and GWR 111.

The 4-8-4 configuration is a definte "No." It was considered to be too much by the LNER when the Hush Hush was released into traffic. Even though it was rebuilt with the body of a A4, it still retained its wheel configuration. It just seems too much for the NWR, considering its size. Its slightly bigger than the Furness Railway from what I've gathered. (If not, they're about the same size.)

These are the engines from the UK that I have listed so far, so I have still have more classes to sift through. The American steam engines are already a "No," due to their massive size. I have the following that could be really good candidates, because I'm pretty damn sure the Earl would love to preserve/operate a foreign engine. It just screams like something he would do. However, this list contain streamliners.

New South Wales C38 class: This one because they look similar to the Hudsons. Like the LMS Coronations, their casings can be removed to unveil the nonstreamlined version. Built in the 1940s.

Iraqi State Railways PC class: Similar design to the streamlined LMS Coronations with the valenced similar to those of the LNER Gresley A4s. Purely streamlined. I haven't found a photo where its not streamlined. Built in the 1940s. Only international option I've chosen that doesn't have any survivors to this day.

DRB Class 01.10: Another streamlined engine that can have its casings removed. Built in the 1930s.

"But wait a minute, you just said this about the streamliners-" yeah I did but here's the thing. Connor and Caitlin are KNOWN AS streamliners. They're known to be different to the other engines and extremely fast. I would like to keep that as the first thing you know about them. They're ✨ streamlined ✨.

But then here comes another issue (this is post is so damn long- wut 😭)

I want to make "Best Engine Ever" canon to EoSR but I can't think I can pull off how dangerous it becomes since all of the examples I've mentioned have front buffers and they don't really have skirts, excluding the Iraqi State Railways PC class.

With all of this taken into consideration, I'm definitely leaning towards the New South Wales C38 as Connor's basis, just because the front reminds me of his T&F basis. They're green which is closer to the teal/blue Conor is originally in. As for Caitlyn, I'm somewhat considering the Iraqi State Railways PC class. It's a very good candidate, in my opinion, but the paintwork is what's throwing it off. I don't want to end up with two green engines, though it looks like the PCs used a mint green.

I'm just not entirely convined by the UK steam engines, though technically the Iraqi State Railways PC engine is English since this basis was built in England.

These classes were built mostly before BR era (C38s: January 1943 - November 1949 & PCs: 1940), they look smaller than the American engines and about the same size as the UK built engines, and they have visual aspects that remind me of their original basis from Thomas and Friends. Neither class only has a sole survivor. The Iraqi State Railway PCs having no surivors while the New South Wales C38s have four survivors. Neither class is made up of one example or been used as a basis for another character. Both classes survived past the 1950s and early-1960s, with the lastest withdrawal being that of a C38 in 1970.

So this is my overly-complicated and probably unnecessary analysis/research for Connor and Caitlin's new basis because I'm weird and want to stick as close to the real-world as much as I can. I wrote this within the span of two days because i was doing research as I was writing this so consider this post as a bunch of notes (which is part of the reason why I kept contradicting myself when it came to streamlining 🤡).

♡A3! Fave play character polls overview♡

I'm dropping by to say that the brackets are mostly done ^^ That said I am planning on starting the polls sometime next week, so be sure to check them out.

As I didn't explain everything regarding the polls in my previous post, I'll go over the categories and other info here.

Poll categories.

Here's the list and a little explanation about the categories that will appear in the polls.

Finalized poll categories include:

-> Favorite play character (troupe plays/mixed plays) - troupe play roles go against other troupe roles, mixed play roles go against other mixed roles;

-> Favorite overall play character for each actor - the two winners go against each other to determine the overall favorite role (the winner role from troupe plays and the winner role from mixed plays);

-> Favorite troupe play character (troupe plays/mixed plays/overall) - similar thing to the ones per actor, just in here the 6 winner roles both from troupe and mixed plays from each of the actors go against one another (the overall category for this works the same way);

-> Last Planet (by troupe/overall) - Last Planet characters go against each other troupe wise (fave role per troupe), also the 4 winner roles have a battle to determine the fave overall Last Planet character.

Also I wanted to say thanks to everyone who voted on the poll regarding Last Planet characters, it helped me a lot with organizing the brackets. Thank you very much 🫶

2. Brackets.

For reference I'm putting one actor, one troupe and one last planet brackets, so y'all will know how the whole thing looks like (you get sakuya and one half of last planet brackets lineups spoilers while I'm at it lmao). As this is my first time making brackets of any sort for tournaments and the like, I didn't exactly know where to create them. I made them all using canva, so sorry if they're not exactly well done. I wanted to also include each actor's official color, but I couldn't find every single one (for the last planet brackets, I tried to choose colors similar to the troupes' logos). Therefore some of them might not be identical, but I hope they are at least close enough color wise.

The actor's bracket will have side A and side B, while on the contrary the troupe and last planet brackets will not as there's no need to divide them side by side. As of now only the spring and summer's 10th plays have been released, but I still decided to include them. That is why, naturally, for autumn and winter the brackets will look a tiny bit different (beside Tasuku and Azami, because instead of making a separate category for Twin Kingdoms, I included their roles in their respective actor brackets). The only difference will be instead of three matches between the two roles on side A, there will be one match with two roles and one match with three roles (side B, mixed plays and overall category stays the same tho).

For the troupe bracket, as I mentioned above, on the left side we will have matches of the six winning troupe roles from each actor, while on the right side the same thing but for mixed roles. Then the two that win will be put against each other to determine the overall fave play character of the troupe.

For the Last Planet, I decided to have a fave role per troupe and then overall fave of the whole category. At first, I thought of going by the roles of the characters like space police etc., but I settled on this, in the end, as I think it's more neat this way.

The brackets, of course, will be updated as the polls will go. I'm currently creating a masterlist for them. First I'll post the bracket, so you know which roles are against which and the updated one will be posted after the last poll of each actor is over to show final results. Don't worry tho, I will be posting which play character goes further without the brackets in the meantime.

3. Polls and voting.

I'll try to post polls regularly, but I'm sorry in advance if there would be any delay. I will probably queue them, though I'm unsure about the hour yet. Nonetheless, all of the polls of each round will be up for one day, so make sure to vote for your blorbos on time.

TV: "A brilliant stage---behind the scenes, extraordinary efforts are being made." TV: "The theatre troupe GOD Troupe that boasts popularity on Veludo Way was established 26 years ago with its own private theatre." TV: "It became a large-scale troupe with its actors and technical staff adding up to more than 100 members." Tsuzuru: I wanted to chat more during our closing party, but I couldn’t talk calmly since the atmosphere there made me nervous. But today, we’re just two playwrights meeting to celebrate the completion of our collaborative performance.

Madoka: Yes. I’m happy since I wanted to chat with you too, Minagi-san. I said this during the party, too, but… I learned a lot being able to collaborate on the script for “Twin Kingdoms”. And I also had lots of fun.

Tsuzuru: It was a really fun and great experience for me as well. I was surprised and excited when I saw Madoka’s lines and ideas, like, “I see, so there’s those kinds of proposals too”. And I was struck with ideas and lines that came to me in response to those.

Madoka: I was also really impressed by your lines and ideas. I aim to be able to write a work like that.

Tsuzuru: Thanks. Haha, I feel kind of bashful. I’d like for us to keep providing inspiration to each other as fellow scriptwriters from now on.

Madoka: Yes…! Um, I’m still just a beginner, so I’d like to learn various things from you, Minagi-san. Is it alright if I ask you a question?

Tsuzuru: I mean, I’m still learning too… But if it’s anything I can answer, then sure.

Madoka: Thank you very much. Then… as a Theatre’s playwright, what do you usually think about when you write your scripts?
