Throwback to about the year 2000. I had a duplicate Simba, so I repainted one as Kovu! Kid me didnt know anything so I used regular craft acrylics (no primer) which have wore off over the years. I'll redo him properly some day. Wore out Simba is also scheduled for a repaint.

No Kiara because I didnt have a duplicate Nala to repaint. Irony? In 2023 I saw there WERE official Kovu/Kiara toys made in this pose, BUT I didnt ever see any as a kid 💔 If I saw them, I totally would have asked for them in addition to my first generation of TLK toys. I saw almost no TLK 2 merch in stores for some reason.

kewpie dolls

"Cutie Babies" were my sister's favorite toys. She adored them and it was the one toy she wished she could have from her child hood. Unfortunately every time she searched for them, she would find simmilar but diffrent baby figurines. That was to be expected, after all, we had gotten them in the dollar store back in the early 90s! The only distinct feature we could remember of the dolls were their vibrantly colorful diapers.

I had no luck finding these toys, so I out sourced to my husband who can find anything if it exsists on the internet. He spent two hours searching, until he did it! He found 2 ebay posts with these incredibly rare 90 stoys. He explained that these dolls were not "cutie babies" they were kewpie dolls. It was made by a toy company that was bought out a few times and had countless knockoffs.

He bought the little babies and I was able to gift them to my sister!

All of this is to say don't give up. Your favorite toy is probably somewhere out there!
