I liked these fabrics when they first came out so I grabbed a yard of each and a couple of years later I started assembling the blanket but never finished before having to move. All projects spent the next three years in bins because I never had time for them in Chicago. Now after moving again, I have time to get through everything!

This is a small throw/kids sized blanket coming in at about 30 inches wide and about 56 inches long. I used a yard of each fabric but had to trim some off of the Spoonflower fabric because it was manufactured wider than regular fleece (yay for useable scraps though!). Made from Anti Pill fleece & a special minky feeling fleece from Spoonflower. Each deer head on the anti pill is quilted to hold the blanket pieces together. Made with durable poly cotton blend thread. The Spponflower fleece wrinkled up a bit when I was sewing the outline of each deer head. I'll have to treat that type of fabric like satin from now on and pin the heck out of it. They WERE flat and flush with each other when I sewed the edges and flipped it right side out, but it stretched while trying to quilt the outline. It also didnt help that I used my regular presser foot instead of my embroidery foot and walking foot for tricky fabrics. By the time I thought of it, I was over half done outlining the deer heads so I just gave up and said "do it next time". I do like the "minky fleece" hybrid that Spoonflower came up with. Its just so short and fuzzy soft🧡

(Sadly I no longer have my drawing from 20 years ago for comparison but I tried to keep the elements the same by memory. Also this is not an attention seeking post, dont make me regret leaving comments open).

It's been 22 long years and I finally gave up pretending that I can run away from the problem. Now before you all jump on me, no its not depression and no there isnt a risk that I'd do what my one friend did 17 years ago (although his reason was also not depression and that was the direct result of dealing with a family life similar to my own). 22 years ago I thought that once I grew up and moved out the problem would end. Little did I know I would run into the same kind of people online or have partners deepen the abuse problem. No matter how much time goes by, I never find happiness and the memories wont go away. I cant even sleep decently because I'll get flashbacks and then be awake the rest of the night after it startles me awake.

The full story is on fb for anyone that feels like reading it. Instagram's word limit is too short sometimes and of course Twitter was way too short. When crossposting it to all my others, I didnt feel like running into the same limit issue.

Kid's sized dino throw blanket done! With the one style of skeleton being quilt stitched, the dino lover can enjoy a fun outline on the back side (solid side) and it gives the top side a neat puffy shape "texture".

Revisiting some old art. The very first version of this YCH was made in like 2005-2006 and I had a redraw from about a decade ago because I wanted to bring it back, but better. While the first decade gap redraw was better, I never finished it. Today I just started flipping through files and spent two hours making a new version!

You'll notice that while I used the same poses, I fixed the anatomy. I use realistic anatomy and whoever threw this scene together in the film didnt pay attention to the placement of each characters leg 🤣 When I was redrawing it, I had to use photos of real wolves howling because the cartoon was THAT off/weird anatomy.

I'll have to find new brushes for the next one I do because this didnt have the texture I wanted despite me trying to use stock paper textures to enhance the paint brush effect. Krita is also a pill to work with so because the program is only half functional, I spent 4 days of 8-12 hours of work on the full image including trying to make it look like oil/acrylic paint on paper rather than digital art. That failed so its overly obvious that its not painted on paper 😭 I need "paint brushes" that actually look like a swath of paint brushed on a piece of paper. Photoshop has them! Krita just doesnt play nice no matter how many mods I shove into it :( and I cant make old PS work with my Pixelbook/ChromeOS. Yes I installed it via Linux, however all the UI is super tiny and it wont register pen pressure. I hate how Adobe split old PS into a dozen different apps and requires a subscription to use them these days. I miss PS from 20 years ago.

A better render of that old 80s/90s tv screen kind of look. Some areas arent the best looking on this because I was too shakey today. Proof that I am working on the queue and that orders are getting done. I'm just a little slow these days as I continue to have neurological issues. Its been a while since Ive had any feral OC orders!

Old quality vs new quality:

I did them digitally this time due to lack of time and physical supplies on hand. Digital also kept costs down significantly. As cute as it is to glue them onto physical foam shapes, I would have had to spend a lot of money on all of the shapes and they come as a pretty large object. Digitally allows you to print them at any size you want/dual use them as con badges. It also saves a ton in shipping costs because international rates for small packages has become unreasonable over the past few years.

You arent "bad" at drawing. You just havent had enough practice or learned all of the basic tricks yet.

Did people make fun of me for that old art? 100% yes. Did I stop? 100% no. If people make fun of your stuff and you're new, show them how serious and passionate you are. Make them eat their words.

Believe it or not, even in 2023 people STILL have nasty things to say about my art. To some people, what you do will never be good enough. Somebody somewhere is always going to complain even if you work for a professional studio 🤣
