If anyone else (like me) were wondering how to pronounce “Anaele”, I looked it up and this is the Hebrew:  אָנָּאֵל

I’m not sure what the dagesh in the nun does because I am a baby Hebrew (and also I suspect it’s a Biblical Hebrew thing, not a Modern Hebrew thing?) but otherwise that looks like ah-nah-el

My sister dragged me out to see Lalaland. It was ok, but I’m probably the worst person you could take to see a romance movie. (The competitions were called “sessions” and “prism jumps/lives” were the gimmick of the series. So “prismsession”. Under-appreciated 7KPP Pairings

Tumblr doesn't play nice with tables, so I collated my findings on Dreamwidth.

I found 4 pairings with no fics and 8 pairings with only one fic (including Anaele/sheltered princess, even though I could swear there were more fics for it).

Disclaimers:

Yes, the table covers only MC/LI pairings and only the main 6 love interests. It doesn't account for secret LIs, NPC/NPC pairings, OCs, "y/n" fics, etc. etc. Compiling this table took a little over an hour. Hypothetically, you could build a script that scrapes AO3 data and assembles statistics, but that's not something I'm able to do, right now. I assembled the HTML for this table mostly manually.

I suddenly remembered we had this fun character customizer from years ago, so I spent a fun five minutes toying with the idea of a lopsided, genius-no-social-skills ambitious widow character.

not exactly Seven Heirs meta (not really)

I've determined that part of the reason I have a problem with Ysonia is because she is, like, the anti-Allegra. Just, tonally, she has a very different attitude with respect to the plot, while at the same time, there are strong parallels.

However, this is a deeply personal reaction, which is why the rest of this is under a fold.

Parallels are obvious: a young woman married to a much older man for political reasons, widely suspected of having committed a murder to achieve her status, but without enough evidence either way for anyone to outright accuse her. And Ysonia appears to ignore the accusations against her, or consider them beneath her notice, at least from what little we've seen. In that way, I think she's a lot like Allegra.

They are also both very cunning and savvy political operators, and very manipulative. For reasons both similar and different, I think. Partly because they are both clever women in a patriarchal society that does not value cleverness as a feminine trait, but Ysonia is also more traditionally pretty, so she has that going for her. But in terms of the family influence, they're roughly opposite: Ysonia is sharp because she comes from a family full of cunning political operators (to one extent or another), while Allegra is sharp because she's been covering for her parents' immaturity and irresponsibility all her life.

But Ysonia's apparent loyalty to Eraven would mystify her (as it does me, actually). As a reader, I keep thinking about everything that we don't know, which is nearly everything. Even with a billion forum and Tumblr posts, we haven't gotten a more than cursory look at their relationship. They were once close friends. They both adored Alapharen. Their break was sudden and violent. They could have patched things up but instead, they decided to escalate.

To me, all of that indicates that Ysonia feels some kind of neurotic emotional debt to Eraven, but that's just a vibe.

Allegra would tell her that there's no earthly reason to remain loyal to a husband she doesn't love, and that she should take a lover ASAP, especially since she has access to birth control. Lord knows she was not herself faithful, and her husband was much nicer than Eraven. But it seems like that's something that Ysonia would never consider doing.

Bad idea, or the worst idea?

A 7KPP MC who, in alternate universe versions of herself, is either a Corval or a Hise MC.

We don’t actually know very much about Mom Blackthorn, after all, and literally nothing about the Corval MC’s dad, other than that he is dead. The Hise MC says that Blackthorn “kidnapped” her husband from Wellin and then fell in love with him, but what if instead, they were already married, and they escaped Corval together after a failed assassination?

This has potential.

7KPP OCs - Social Distancing Edition

Allegra - sends long letters to absolutely everyone she knows, gets grumpy when they don’t respond in kind.

Felicity - holed up with Zarad, doing a weird doctor roleplay that goes way too far.

Christabel - takes long walks out of doors but stays away from people.

Periwinkle - reads every book and blog she can find on immunology, microbiology and epidemiology, drinks all the tea.

Marguerite - most touch-starved, probably drives her mother up a wall with how restless she is.

Jack - keeps trying to stay she’s too young and healthy to be affected, but secretly very anxious for all her friends and relatives.

Verity - keeps a meticulous journal of everything she thinks and feels during quarantine, and every rumor she heard about the spread of the disease.

Nerissa - sneaks into Kavita’s house just before the final curfew order to have a good old gossip.

Claude - shrugs and goes back to bed to take another nap. 

Yaling - spending all her time trying to distract Hamin and keep him from doing something stupid.
