The scene between Kim and Michelle here is so painful in retrospect.

Michelle and Tony treated Kim like a niece. From Jack going undercover pre-Day 3 and then his fake death post-Day 4, the two of them were all Kim had at those times. At least they got to be parental figures to her in that way.

However, after losing everything, instead of recognising that Kim was also facing a loss through breaking contact with Jack and continuing to be there for her, on Day 7, Tony was willing to use her as leverage against Jack. Yes, that was a betrayal to Jack. But it was a betrayal to Michelle, too. She cared about Kim, and Tony cared about whatever Michelle cared about. So, his willingness to risk Kim's life showed how far gone he was. Because Michelle would have been so ashamed of him for that.

Kimberly "Kim" Bauer was the daughter of Jack and Teri Bauer. She, along with Teri, was a target of terrorists Ira Gaines and the Drazen syndicate during Day 1 because of her relation to Jack. On Day 2, she was the au pair for a young girl whose father turned homicidal. By Day 3 she worked as an intelligence agent/technician at CTU Los Angeles, where she met Chase Edmunds and eventually left CTU with Chase to start a new life. Following the events of Day 4, she started dating clinical psychologist Barry Landes after Jack faked his death and left Kim in the dark; though she briefly reunited with her rediscovered father during Day 5. By Day 7, Kim was married to Stephen Wesley and had a daughter named Teri. She learnt of the subpoena issued against her father and tried, unsuccessfully, to contact him. When she finally managed to reach him she learnt that he had been infected with a lethal pathogen that would kill him within a day or two, and so decided, against her father's wishes, to undergo a dangerous stem cell treatment that could save his life. The treatment proved successful and, by Day 8, neither Kim nor Jack were suffering from any lingering damages of the treatment. At the start of Day 8, Kim, her family and Jack all planned to start a new and peaceful life, though she was forced to leave her father to other activities after he was sidetracked into the events of the day.

Jack morning after

I stirred when I felt Jack kiss my cheek. Stretching, I blinked up at him as my eyes adjusted to the dim light of the room.

“you closed the blinds.” I yawned as I sat up, pulling the comforter with me. Jack chuckled as he leaned down to kiss me. He nodded, sitting on the bed next to me.

“Yeah. Didn’t want to wake you.” I nodded as I wrapped my arms around his neck. Jack let me pull him back down on the bed. I furrowed my eyebrows when I realized he was dressed. My hand trailed over his chest, moving the soft fabric there. Jack smiled softly at me, covering my hand with his. “I gotta go in.” I sighed and leaned my head against his.

“of course.” I breathed out. I gently grabbed his shirt and Jack squeezed my hand. “How long do you have before they need you there?” Jack looked at his watch and kissed my forehead.

“not long.” Jack admitted. “Breakfast is in the kitchen. Coffee is done. I’ll be back as soon as I can.” I reached up and ran my fingers through his hair.

“yeah I know.” I said softly. “No more 24 hour days running from terrorists or being accused of something.” Jack chuckled as he kissed me gently.

“never again. You and Kim deserve better.” He agreed. Jack pulled back and straightened himself out. “How do I look?”

“like you spent the night at your partners house.” I teased as I kneeled on the bed. “You grab this from off the floor?” Jack nodded, blushed slightly. Wrapping the sheet around me, I climbed off the bed and went to my closet. “Now I’ve been keeping this because it was comfortable and well…” I chuckled and threw a look at Jack over my shoulder. “It gets you pretty riled up. So I want it back after today. But here. Put this on.” I pulled a light grey sweater out of the closet and tossed it to Jack, who paused in his endeavor to unbutton his dress shirt to catch it.

“fuck.” He groaned. “You are so getting this back after today.” I laughed as Jack changed and walked over, putting his hands on the small of my back to pull me into him. “And we’re going to have a discussion about you stealing my clothes. Because this looks far too good on you for us not to have that discussion.” I laughed as I leaned forward to kiss him.

“understood.” I smoothed the fabric over his chest and smiled at him. “Now go bauer. Before they start breaking down my door.” Jack nodded before kissing me again.

“my place tonight. Six.” He said between kisses. I hummed in agreement before pushing him out of my bedroom.

“it’s a date.” I said, kissing him sweetly as he left. “Have a nice day at work!” I called as he smiled at me before leaving the apartment.

*Ted Cofell Is the first named character to be killed by Jack Bauer, albeit unintentionally.
