Is anything gonna happen between Devon and Ashton?

I can neither confirm not deny. I feel like they have some good potential, but I'd have to put them in more Situations and see how they play together.

I kinda want to nerd out about the writing process a bit. Ashton was an interesting creation because in the original drafts, he wasn't a thing. I just had vague ideas in a semi linear fashion that I wanted to play with. Like, I had the image in my head of Devon hiding behind/beside a shoe that's taller than he is. And with Devon's size (which I don't have specifics yet. Somewhere between 7 and 8 inches.) The shoe would have to be one with a higher collar. So either high tops or a boot of some sort which lead to the Punk Rocker idea. It was at this point that I kind of had an outfit for the punk character, which in my mind I had just sort of copy/pasted the image of Hiroto Koumoto that I had in my head. This lead to the idea of the dude that Devon was hiding behind having the Aura of Don't-Fuck-With-Me.

It was at this point that I made a note that, "he sounds like Ashton from CR3". So I was jokingly referring to this character, who was merely a set piece at this point, as Ashton.

Ashton didn't become A Character in my kind until I was writing the bus scene and had the idea that Devon would miss his stop and would need some outside help.

At this point it was too late to rename him because I had been internally referring to him as Ashton for a while now.

So, that's how that character came about. I think he and Devon will be good friends, but if they become more than that it would be interesting to see. If nothing else, I'm sure they will be good friends because Ashton is very respectful and doesn't talk down or dehumanize Devon despite Devon's size.

you are a violinist, a very good one in fact. and you have been employed by a rich guy to play violin for him. honestly, you thought it would be a one time thing, for some rich person event. but who knew you'd still be working for him even after 3 months of the original employment.

all you do is follow him around all the time, holding your violin and bow as he talks about his life, mourning in sadness.

seriously, if it weren't for the fact that he paid you generously, you'd have up and left. it was humiliating! being reduced to a... pet?! a walking violin?! you could be in an orchestra but no! you were being held against your will (you're not, you just want money and he pays super well).

this guy barely even gets you to play the violin! all he does is talk and talk... like a broken record! it's fucking annoying! and when he does get you to play the violin it's some freakishly hard piece that you don't practice often!

and right now you were playing that freakishly hard piece.

he mumbles as he eats his broccoli, smirking at you as he waves his hands around.

"c'mon, I don't pay you 1000 an hour for you to mess up~"

he teases as his tempo increases. seriously what is his problem?! this piece was already fast enough as it is and he wanted to speed it up?! fucking weirdo.

you grit your teeth, trying to focus on the money you'd be making as he finally stops conducting. you let out a sigh you didn't know you were holding as he beckons for you to walk over to his side.

which you do of course. he's your employer.

"good job~ man you're so talented, wish i could keep you by my side forever."

he sighs before shoving a stack of money into your hands that were still shaking from playing the piece. see, this is the reason why you couldn't leave. he's just too damn rich.

but maybe his next words are enough to convince you to leave for good?

"yeah, maybe I'll make you stay for good."

he hums before looking over at you.

"don't worry, i'll be sure to give you lots of money."

he grins at you as your brain computes his words.

This is a script mod that can be placed in your Packages folder. It was built and tested on 1.69 but should work fine on 1.67.

Applying for Scholarships

Teen sims and older have a new “Apply for Scholarships” interaction available at the school rabbithole or on the computer under “Sims University Online”. Though they’re less likely to win a scholarship if they apply online rather than in person.

If your sim wins a scholarship, they will not be able to reapply for that scholarship again. If they do not win, they will be given a Disappointed moodlet and have to wait a day before applying again.

Types of Scholarships

There are four (4) types of scholarships your sims can apply for: General, Legacy, Skill Based, and Occult. In total, there are 18 scholarships, each with their own custom moodlet. 

Sims have a 45% chance of winning a scholarship in the General, Legacy, and Occult categories when applying in-person and a 40% chance when applying online.

Sims have a 6% chance of winning a Skill Based scholarship at Level 1 of the required skill. This chance multiplies with each skill level, with a maximum of a 60% chance at Level 10.

Certain traits can either increase or decrease your chance of winning a scholarship by 5% (note: this value stacks the more traits your sim has):

Increased Chance Traits - Lucky and Ambitious

Decreased Chance Traits - Unlucky and Loser

Some of the scholarship names are originally from The Sims 2 and the others I made up myself. They are listed below by category:

General

Young Entrepreneurs Award (§750) - Requires Level 3 part-time job, Teen only

Orphaned Sims Assistance Fund (§750) - Requires deceased or non-existing parents, Teen only

Golden Year Scholars Grant (§1000) - Elders only

Gemini Hidden Masters Prize (§1500) - Requires Level 10 in one hidden skill

Legacy

Student Service Workers Fund (§1000) - For sims with a service worker hidden trait (Makes No Messes, Pyromaniac, Can Apprehend Burglar, Can Salute, Immune To Fire, or Pizza Appreciator)

Cultural Exchange Program (§1000) - For sims with one of the hidden culture traits from The Sims 3: World Adventures

Students of Tomorrow Scholarship (§1000) - For sims with the hidden Future Sim trait from The Sims 3: Into the Future

Skill Based

Dreamer Family Artisan Award (§750) - Requires at least Level 1 Artisan Skill

Tsang Footwork Award (§750) - Requires at least Level 1 Dance (Store) Skill

Violin Society of SimNation Scholarship (§750) - Requires at least Level 1 Violin Skill

Occult

Undead Education Scholarship (§1500) - For Vampires, Zombies, and Ghosts

Extraterrestrial Reparation Grant (§1500) - For Aliens and sims recently abducted by Aliens

Spellcasting Scholars Grant (§1500) - For Witches, Fairies, and Genies

Lycanthropy Philanthropy Fund (§1500) - For Werewolves

Bots Opportunity To Specialize (B.O.T.S.) (§1500) - For Simbosts and Plumbots

Forbidden Fruit Fellowship (§1500) - For PlantSims

Real World Acclimation Fund (§1500) - For Real Imaginary Friends

Aquatic Allies Award (§1500) - For Mermaids

Maintaining Scholarships

After winning a scholarship, your sim will get the new custom Won Scholarship moodlet. They have a week to either enroll in online university with my Attend University Online mod, or in-person university to remain eligible for their scholarship.

If they fail to enroll in time, their scholarship will be rescinded and they will have to pay back the money they were awarded. If they can’t afford to pay back the scholarship amount in full, it will be added to their next household bill. (No free money here!)

Once a sim has a scholarship rescinded, they will get the new custom Lost Scholarship moodlet and be barred from applying for scholarships for 3 days.

New Moodlets

Won Scholarship: Given when a sim wins a scholarship, lasts 1 day, +20 mood, each scholarship has its own custom moodlet icon

Lost Scholarship: Given when a sim has a scholarship rescinded, lasts 3 days, -20 mood, makes sims stressed

Online Aptitude Test

Teen sims and older can now take the university aptitude test on the computer under “Sims University Online”. It works the same as the default interaction.

Tuning

All of the tunable values can be found on the mod download page under the header “Tuning”.

New Cheat

If you want to clear all scholarship winners in your world (on a per save basis), enter the cheat menu and type “ClearScholarshipWinnerData” without the quotation marks.

Conflicts & Known Issues

This is a new script mod so there shouldn’t be any conflicts.

Epistles of Saints & Sinners @elegantduelliste - Soulmate Marks AU during game. Astarion recognizes Tav’s soulmate mark, it matches his own, but he's not going to tell her that; he can't have a soulmate, it's just one more thing Cazador has stolen from him. Tav is just as drawn to Astarion, but her own history has left her guarded and wary of being vulnerable. Elle’s writing of the push and pull of their relationship is breathtaking and heart-wrenching. Matching a bard Tav, Elle's prose takes on a lyrical quality and her use of imagery is unparalleled. 

The House of Astarion by Throckmorton420 - Labyrinth AU post-Elderbrain. Ascended Astarion lost interest in conquering Faerun once he came across the Labyrinth, it's much more his style anyway. Stealing Tav’s violin, he offers her a deal: solve his Labyrinth and he'll return her violin and grant her a wish. Realizing this is her opportunity to reconnect to the Weave, Tav agrees. Did I mention goostarion? Because there's goostarion! This fic is filled with mischief, whimsy, and so much heart. 

Fools' Work @semper-draca - Pre-Tadpole AU. Cazador has sent his spawn after a mysterious box and luckily for Astarion, his latest target happens to have a lead. It should be easy to seduce her and steal the prize! Too bad she’s not as naive as Astarion believes. This mercenary Tav is perceptive and delightfully unhinged that makes her a great matchup for a scheming Astarion. 

When the Dawn Breaks… @harcourtholmesii - set during game. Before Astarion was turned, he ignored his family’s disapproval of a Drow lover. Two hundred years later, Lavender has found the lover she grieved and believed dead. Astarion brushes away her questions but still sweeps her off her feet. He can’t believe his luck in finding a target that presumably knows him, one easy to lure back when he so desperately needs to keep in good graces with his master. 

Until You @bloodinwine - Post-Elderbrain with modern world AU flavor. Effy thought Astarion needed a friend more than a lover, so now here they are as roommates and definitely not hopelessly in love pining after one another. Effy struggles to fight her way free of self-destructive tendencies and be the person Astarion needs her to be. This Tav is a loveable hot mess! I have never wanted to take a character by the shoulders and shake them so badly, thank you June for spinning Effy into the world. 

Lacunae @karinamay - Series set during game. Tav was once Astarion’s target, but she slipped away. Upon meeting after the Nautiloid crash, she remembers but Astarion does not. This is the one that inspired me to start writing again. It’s sweet and heartbreaking and deliciously spicy!

Pour One Out @aevallare - Modern AU/1000 years post-Elderbrain. A spinoff from the much loved and fandom favorite Kindred featuring an anxious Auri that doesn't remember her past life and a tailor Astarion that's in awe of finding his love again. This is an Astarion that's had centuries to heal from his ordeal with Cazador, one that's been able to flourish in freedom. Astarion gets his chance to be a hero for Auri this time around. Aevallare's characterization of Astarion is absolutely unmatched.

All these fics are ongoing so you must be patient, but DO give them a read and the authors some love/kudos/comments!

Random Sebastian Sallow Headcanons by me!

Loves mythology, especially Greek mythology. 

Speaking of that, he’s really well versed in Scottish Mythology since he is Scottish. 

Definitely reads books that are written in Scottish Gaelic. He can understand it but he likes to challenge himself. 

Honestly I think if he played an instrument, he’d play the Violin. 

His mother definitely taught him and Anne so that they could play music together. 

He used to go down into their homes cellar and sit in his dads lap while he read. Because of this, Sebastian learned how to read from a very young age and it sparked his love for books. 

Even when he was younger, he didn’t like Solomon. 

Sebastian looks more like their dad and Anne looks more like their mother, hence why he has a bunch of freckles and Anne doesn’t. (which still baffles me) 

Speaking of freckles, he has full body freckles. They are most prominent on his face, shoulders, arms, and back. 

The reason why he can see Thestrals is because he had witnessed the death of another uncle. (we know it's not his parents because Ominis specified Anne and Sebastian got there after their parents died). 

He literally sucks at Gobstones. He mentions that Anne always beat him and he meant that when he said it. Like this boy couldn’t even beat Ominis, who’s literally blind. 

Gives the most annoying, slobbery kisses when he wants to annoy you. I’m sorry but it had to be said. 

That being said, he loves to annoy his S/O all the time. Nobody knows why, he just finds it really funny when they get frustrated with him. 

He is the number one Gaunt Family hater (besides Ominis himself of course). In their first year, Ominis opened up pretty quickly to Sebastian about how poorly his family treated him and ever since then Sebastian has resented the Gaunts for what they did to his best friend. 

Sebastian’s Patronus is honestly one of the ones I just can’t pin down honestly. I’d definitely have to do with his spontaneousness and his mischievousness along with his desire to have free will but also mirror his wisdom and intelligence.

He first got introduced to the dark arts obviously when he first attended school. He knew very little about them before. But when he became best friends with Ominis, a certain 7th-year older brother of his (*cough cough* Marvolo) decided to introduce him to some dark spells just to upset Ominis (which it did) although in the future, Sebastian did convince Ominis to learn confringo with him in the undercroft. 

After school, especially after 5th year and everything that happened with Anne and Solomon, he swears off using the dark arts unless absolutely necessary. He realized how much they ruined his life and didn’t want to continue allowing them to ruin his life. 

Horrible dancer, he’s practically got two left feet. He’ll try his best, especially if he’s dancing with his S/O but he definitely needs some pointers on what to do. 

He thinks he can learn everything from a book, which isn’t exactly untrue but he’ll be in the library for hours just to find the exact book that gives him exactly what he wants even if he has to go to the restricted section every once and a while. 

Doesn’t even understand WHY they have a restricted section. If the books down there are so “bad” why even keep them in a school full of children??? 

On a lighter note. When he blushes, it is IMPOSSIBLE to hide. His cheeks go a deep red color and his face heats up like it's burning. I’d like to think his ears turn a little pink too but no matter how hard he tries to cover it all up, he can’t. 

This of course just subjects him to a bit of teasing. 

I don’t think he’d be a prefect, it made it pretty clear how much he dislikes them in the game, not to mention with his detention record the school probably wouldn’t even imagine making him one.

That still doesn’t keep the younger students from going to him with their problems instead of the prefects because he’s just 1000 times better than them. 

Speaking of this, I feel like a lot of the Slytherin first years look up to him because he’s the perfect mix of mischievous and intelligent. So as much as he likes having his fun that drives the school crazy, he’s still dedicated to his education. So he’s not gonna rat the first years out for anything they’ve done but he definitely guides them in a better direction. (after all he doesn’t want all of them ending up like him.) 

And even though he has his wild side, he’s still mature enough to take responsibility for his actions, no matter the punishment.
