Linked Universe College Radio AU

Since I recently got some motivation to work on this one, I figured I would brain dump a little about my LU College Radio AU. It's basically a college/university AU but each of the main LU Links are somehow associated with their college radio station at Kakariko University.

Why radio? I was listening to The Oh Hellos when the idea struck me so each of the works are hopefully going to have titles taken from Oh Hellos songs. This will, hopefully, just mostly focus on the Links + the radio station but who knows? I added way too many characters to this braindump but oh well

The Links

Time

Staff coordinator for the radio station

Broadcasting professor

Usually gets stuck teaching the freshman and sophomores

Married to the zoology professor, Malon

Taking care of Twilight's dog, Wolfie, until Twilight finds a dog-friendly place. Acts like he hates it, but he actually loves it

Infamous for being a hardass

"Call me Time. Don't call me Link, that's my nephew. Don't call me Professor Lon, that's my wife"

Legend

Has done just about anything and everything

Knows everyone, but just because he's been here so long and has done so much

Has officialy been an agriculture major, a meteorology major, a humanities major, a fine art major, a fashion design major, and an engineering major in the past

Has finally settled with being a broadcasting major after doing the Jaded Boys radio show with Wild

Part of the Jaded Boys with Wild, then is part of Triple Threat with Wild and Hyrule

Lives off-campus with his current partner, Ravio

Also lives with Warriors

Used to date a girl named Marin from Mabe City. No he doesn't talk about it

Does not like driving. Or storms.

Has a cane

Even in an AU he can't escape the Koholint Trauma

Joined Legend and Ravio's lease at the last minute because of stuff that happened between him and his other roommates

Has a restraining order against Cia and doesn't talk to Lana

Is currently dating Artemis, a fashion merchandising major

Met Legend when Legend was doing fashion design. No one knows how they're friends. They fight all the time.

Legend forced him to make his own radio show when Wild roped Legend into doing the Jaded Boys. So now Warriors has a show called Wednesday With Warriors

Senior aviation major

Runs The Loftwings with his fiancé, Sun, and his best friend, Groose.

Has a bad habit of sleeping through his alarm

Currently taking care of his older brother's mouthy parrot, Crimson.

Super friendly

Cares more about the college experience than learning

Hyrule's roommate

After Hyrule starts doing Triple Threat, Wind gets the idea to do the Wind Waker podcast with Tetra where they sing sea shanties and tell pirate stories

Spirit is his introverted cousin and he's made it his goal to get Spirit to get out more

He also does the same with Hyrule

Is regularly forced out of the dorm by Wind but prefers to just wander around town and campus

Vaati's his dad, but he's cut Vaati out of his life now

Got his nickname from no one being able to see him onstage when moving props around

She looks like any old upperclass girl but she is always ready to throw hands

First's wife who's a doctor at a local hospital

Keeps an eye out for Sky even though she knows he doesn't really need it

Absolutely willing to drive Sky and his friends home when none of them can drive

Constantly roping Legend into new business ideas

Used to run a shop out of his and Legend's dorm room when they lived in the dorms together. Legend's pretty sure it was against the rules. Ravio doesn't care

Acts greedy, but is actually living off his loans

Never goes home. He goes over Legend's Uncle's house for holidays now.

His younger sister, Hilda, often sleeps over and Legend and Ravio's

Has a horrible relationship with his father, Yuga

Sidon, Mipha, Revali, Yunobo:

Wild's housemates alongside Twilight and Age

Revali claims he's the only reason the house hasn't burned down

Revali is also one of Teba and Saki's adopted children, and had a bit of a superiority complex over being adopted first (he was there first) when they were kids. He's gotten better, but he's still a bit of a jerk to Wild. He and Age have bonded over Wild constantly giving them heart attacks

Sidon is a sophomore political science major who is super friendly, but has a hard time stopping conversations. Head over heels for his girlfriend, Yona. Is also super tall and often mistaken for being the older sibling

Mipha is a senior nursing student. Sidon's older sister, Age's girlfriend. If there's a medical emergency, chances are the Links are calling Mipha first even though they really should go to the hospital instead

Revali is a senior aviation major and hopes to join the air force after college to "get away from the filth" (meaning Age and Wild. He would never call Tulin filth)

Yunobo is a sophomore geoscience major. Works at his grandpa's coffee shop, Goron City Coffee

Urbosa, Daruk, Riju:

Urbosa is Riju's aunt and and mother figure to Flora and Fauna. She lives in Castle City, but often comes to Kakariko to give guest lectures. She's a businesswoman

Daruk is Yunobo's grandpa who owns Goron City Coffee. He often lets the radio host events at his coffee shop, and acts like a father figure for Wild's friend group

Riju is a freshman business major who wants to be like her aunt, Urbosa. Flora and Fauna see her as their younger sister.

Teba, Saki, Tulin:

Revali was adopted first, then Age and Wild

Teba is retired from being in the military

Saki teaches private singing lessons

Tulin is the Baby of the family and is in middle school. He is an absolute terror. Never let Wild babysit him, they will both get into trouble. Tulin is everyone's favorite and Tulin will use that to his advantage

Ilia:

Twilight's friend who helps run the Helpful Paws club

She has a huge crush on Twilight but doesn't want to overstep, especially after the bad break up with Midna

Rusl, Uli, Colin:

Twilight's family in Ordon who adopted him when he was about 8

Colin's just starting high school and is dealing with a lot of bullying, so he calls Twilight often for help

Rusl is a detective, but he's on paternity leave right now since Uli just had their daughter

Grandpa Smith:

Four and Shadow's grandpa

Took them both in after their mother died and Vaati went to prison

Four was usually a good kid, but Shadow was a little terror

Lives in Kakariko City so he gets to see his boys often

Cia and Lana:

Twins who both had huge crushes on Warriors

Cia got jealous when Wars started dating Lana

Cia is a psychology major, but now is largely known as the campus creep

Lana was a fashion design major, but changed schools after the drama with Warriors happened

Groose:

Sky and Sun's roommate and fellow host of The Loftwings

Proudly boasts that he's their best man

Also a senior aviation major

How would a female hero of courage interact with the chain?

Well- this is certainly a new type of Reader! I know I try to keep Reader as gender neutral as possible so this kinda defeats the purpose... but just once won’t hurt anyone. Consider it done anon!

And by teases, I mean secretly complains

“Yeah Cub, because I know she wouldn’t hesitate to throw me over her shoulder and call it a day. I’m not getting in her way.”

Doesn’t pay too much attention to it

Frankly, care less about that and more about her age

If she’s younger, she’s getting the same treatment as the rest of the youngins

If she’s older, then the more power to her

She can get away with much more

While others may forget, he tries to keep in mind her need for privacy and space from the boys

Especially since she’s the only girl

Protective to a fault, poor guy

But he’s just Like That TM

Reader would gather really quickly it’s because he cares and not because of anything else

He does the same to Wind and Twilight and Legend and even Time

Warrior is used to female fighters so this isn’t anything for him to blink at

Have you seen his game? It’s like three males total- him included, villains not included

How much do you want to bet that Warrior also knows someone from Reader’s adventure?

You know.... for flavor :D

Warrior is quick to make them feel a part of the team and respected

Warrior is the first one to ask for their opinion on matters and Reader always comes up with a point he (and others) were missing

“Thanks Girlie. I knew you were brought with us for a reason. Glad to know that you’re on our side.”

Big Brother Warrior adopts another one. A Saga

Legend

Is not above sacrificing her to do the work so that he can get out of it

Challenges her at nearly every turn

Even more so than Warrior

And it’s not because she’s female

It’s just that it’s activating his sibling behavior with a vengeance and he’s going to make it her problem

Reader found him annoying, pessimistic, dramatic and hard to get along with

It was like cats and dogs

Even if Legend actually likes her

However Reader gets talked down to in public and Legend goes off

Completely tearing the offender to shreds with his words alone- although he’s tempted to do so physically as well

Reader doesn’t think he’s so bad after that

They judge people outfits together, you honor

They are each other’s ride or die

Legend gets to the point where she’s the only one he listens to without question

The Chain try and get her to talk to Legend when they’re trying to prank him

Reader agrees more than half of the time

Treats her like one of the guys, only be reminded that she’s not a guy

It’s like a slap in the face every time- he tries so hard to just be normal

As he can see that Reader is older, he wants to ask questions about his sister, like why girls do x? Or y? Or z?

You know, things that they have in common but for the life of him, he doesn’t know why

So he might as well ask right?

Besides, if he asked Aryll, she might give him a half answer or not even know herself

But Reader should know, he trusts Reader’s judgment

He’s going to project so much

He means well by the end of the day and frankly it doesn’t matter if this hero is older than him

He has vague memories of a younger sister and it’s going to eat him alliiivvee

Will want to go horse back riding with her whether she knows how to or not

He can teach her! He can do archery with her! And sword fighting and shield surfing and cooking and and and and-

So long as his weapons and equipment don’t break on him anyway

He’s going to badger her about keeping her hair in decent condition and offering to braid it or brush it or just put it up for her

Who cares if he still has twigs and junk in his hair? That’s not his point

Is he a hypocrite? ... Just a bit

Might show off from time to time by taking wild animals momentarily just so she can pet them

Cut to Wild riding into camp on a bear

“Sissy! Look what I found!”

“Cub! Put him back!” Said literally everyone in the group.

“He’ll go back home on his own soon enough. I gave him honey glazed salmon as a treat. He’s so soft. Come see!”

Four

Well he just found his new best friend

Second to Zelda, of course

Is the one to ask for help with pranking people (mostly Legend)

Together, they nearly get away with it every time

Does she know blacksmithing? Is that a thing they teach the girls where she’s from?

It’s likely that she doesn’t

Oh well! Four is just going to have to make sure she’s taken care of

Very protective of her

Is going to get in her way multiple times

But in an accidentally on purpose sort of way

He gets stomped on, trampled and run over more times than he wishes to admit

He knows she can take care of herself, she’s just as much of a hero as all of them are

But Four sees her and sees Zelda and he gets this urge to keep her away from danger at all costs

It’s annoying

But they laugh and poke fun and he tries to tackle her for the hell of it and never succeeds

He means well, but that’s a conversation about to happen

It’s somewhere on the horizon

Time

Oh thank god, someone who knows what they’re doing

Do they?

Who knows. But Time is going to use their ability to wrangle the boys to his advantage because honestly?

It’s like herding cats otherwise

Or cuccos- at least he has experience with that

Doesn’t think too much of it

Also takes to her on the spot

The change of energy is nice but he’s to reassure her when the case may be

Like when the boys are a bit much or when they’re teasing her

Time says near the beginning of the trip that if they bug her too much to tell him and he’ll set them straight

Not to say that she can’t do it herself but honestly- why should she have to?

Clearly she’s been through enough as it is

They both spend quiet time together

May have fallen asleep on each other at some point

Denies it but also has a picture hidden somewhere in his belongs

No one knows who he stole it from because at least three of them have a copy

And yet he never approached them for it

The mysteries add on with The Old Man

Sky

Literally no different

This guy could not care less

Forgets half of the time

It’s not something he would pay attention to

Has to be genuinely reminded at least once

He’s used to being the “mom friend” so if they help out in that regard Sky is going to give them brownie points

Because these boys don’t care about those things and Sky is tired of having to remind people to chew with their mouth closed-

Help him

He can’t do this alone

Has to be prepared for all things all the time

If Reader could just lighten the load a little bit he would be eternally grateful

He would tell her story for years to come

Granted, he was going to talk about his friends anyway but this one takes special precedence

Is the one she vents to without a second thought

If she can help carry his role in the group than he can be there as her support as well

There’s no difference between the lives of heroes

It’s hard on everyone

Okay, RWBY theory time. If Ruby is confronted with her younger self in the caterpillar’s smoke clouds, who’s to say that Blake, Yang, and Weiss aren’t having a similar experience? What if, in order to become big again, they need to show that they’ve matured? What if they’re all confronted by versions of themselves from their early beacon days for whatever reason? Say, versions who were struggling to figure out why they wanted to become huntresses around a certain campfire in Mountain Glenn?

In the smoke, Blake is confronted with her younger self, uncertain of how to undo so many years of hate and injustice, and now she can tell her younger self that it’s not just up to her, but if she looks around her, she’ll find many people who are willing to fight that fight, and she doesn’t have to carry that weight by herself. Maybe she couldn’t turn Adam away from a dark path, but she and her family convinced Ilia and other Faunus that there is a way to fight back against prejudice that doesn’t involve violence. That results in saving lives. And even when things go wrong, she won’t need to feel like running away all the time, and if she does, well, she knows there are open arms waiting to welcome her back. Maybe a particular set of arms, of which one is yellow.

Weiss confronts a version of herself worried about living up to a family legacy, and although she may feel at first like that legacy is gone along with the rest of Atlas, she realizes that the legacy isn’t just up to her. (Wait a minute, this sounds like something I said in a previous paragraph…) Although her father’s actions are still a sore spot for older Weiss, she can tell her younger self she successfully stopped him from messing up more lives when she had the chance. And once the rest of her family was out from under Jacques’ control, they all acted in ways that made her proud, and now she realizes that family is about more than legacy, that she can do good not because she is tied to the Schnee name, but because she is who she is: she’s Weiss. And her family values her for that. Her family being team RWBY as well as Winter, Whitley, Willow and Klein. As a huntress she can do more for them, and more with them, than she could as a Schnee. (Although the company perks almost helped…)

Now, Yang might meet a younger version of herself who still has both arms, who’s not thinking too much about tomorrow, who’s just in it for the adventure. But an older, more harrowed Yang, down an arm, reassures her young, naive self. Things got a lot harder than just, ��go with the flow, you know”, but she made it through. And now she knows that not having any expectations and just seeking thrills were ways to avoid thinking about the things she had lost, or never had, ways to fill an emptiness inside of her that reflected her insecurities and self-worth issues. Sure, she still doesn’t quite know what tomorrow will bring, but she does know that her team will be there, and that they’ll always try to help others, so they don’t have to have a missing mom. Some things are better off being certain. Tomorrow used to bring a certain kind of loneliness in its unpredictability, but not anymore. Maybe some things should not stay uncertain. And when she gets out of the smoke she’ll look at Blake with that fond look and make the audience melt (and Blake blush). Don’t worry there will be more clouds to help you confess your damn feelings! Ahem, sorry about that.

Lastly, Ruby, at her lowest, most uncertain, down on her luck, and depressed, meets a younger version of herself, who was so sure, so set in her path, who was already a huntress at heart. And now, when Ruby is questioning herself, her own actions, and her worth as a huntress, her younger self asks her, “what are you gonna be?” And our Ruby won’t know how to answer. She will feel like she’s not a huntress, she’s barely Ruby Rose, she’s just a girl. How does she move forward? How did she end up so far from this hopeful girl she was in the past? A long string of failures have led her here. And Ruby can tell her past self nothing. She either breaks down, in the safety of the clouds / hallucination, or bottles that feeling up to come back to at a later time. Maybe she’ll find it in herself to say, “I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m going to be. But I know that I am going to do whatever it is I need to do to get out of here.” Not learning the lesson, but refusing to stay still. There will be time to learn that lesson later.

Anyway, that’s just what I think will maybe not happen, but wouldn’t it be cool if some of it did.

Ilias knows he shouldn't touch the collapsed man, he should stand back and let the adults handle things. He's nine years old and perfectly obedient, and normally he would be focused on helping his oldest brother hold their youngest brother back. But something in him won't let him behave; there is an overwhelming compulsion that has seized him, causing him to break away from his brothers and move cautiously towards the man.

The adults around him are, of course, trying to tell him to stop and step back, with varying degrees of force and worry that all fade into background noise before ceasing entirely with a terrified hush. Ilias doesn't register this, and thus doesn't see the way his shadow splits into three, nor the way his eyes are beginning to glow with a cold, harsh light. His awareness has narrowed to nothing but the man on the floor, a sweating, pale S.T.Y.X. employee he doesn't even know by name.

“Ilias, don't!” his youngest brother calls.

Something inside Ilias is shaking, rattling the bars of a cage it's newly found itself in and wants out of. It's breaking free, and while he doesn't know what he is doing, he senses its inevitability and how much more than him it is. He stops trying to fight it quickly, realizing that though he is on some level frightened, he needs more than anything to find out what is about to happen.

One of his hands drifts over the man’s chest, the other over his sweating forehead. The last things Ilias is aware of are the thinness of his hands, the sudden length of his nails, and that his voice is now tripled as he speaks words both alien and yet known to some deeper, more secret part of him.

“Ilias, you—!!”

The world shatters around him in a kaleidoscope of color, dropping him into a void, and he is whipped by gusts of wind. The wind brings something with it, something pale and shining across what he now recognizes as a liminal space.

It is a thread.

No, that's not correct. It isn't just a thread.

It approaches initially with great rapidity, hesitating for only a moment, before snapping at him like some great snake and twisting itself around him before he can do much more than cry out. And though the thread doesn't cut him, he immediately feels what it carries begin to slice into him.

He glimpses the past and sees a boy who resembles the employee who collapsed. There is a barrage of vicious glares, stray hateful thoughts aimed at other children who mock his intellect and interests and his early desire for a career. Cold disdain weaves throughout, a sense he is better and smarter than his peers, that one day they'll be sorry. Then in adolescence, still marked by that disdain and condescension, there is a loneliness fiercely misdirected at peers and at girls who laugh at his interest in them, and a dark undercurrent of wishing everything would just stop, that sleep would subsume him forever. Ilias barely processes the frightening enormity of this before he sees the same teenager, a little older, devastated. The Jupiter family didn't think his ideas good enough, didn't even look at him when searching for new talent. Bound up in this is an icy, gut-churning sensation at realizing that the internship he was offered has a S.T.Y.X. seal; he is so unremarkable, so unimpressive, so not as special as he hoped that not only did the Jupiter family never acknowledge him, but their cousins, the Shroud family, are taking pity on him. Pity from a bunch of ghouls who live in isolation. He swallows his pride and dignity because a job is a job, but just when he thought his life couldn't get any worse, the Great Seven were practically laughing in his face.

Ilias is yanked to the present, but not back to himself. The man is sick. He is resigned to his job at S.T.Y.X. but to say he still loathes his circumstances is incorrect. He is listened to, he is respected. His work challenges him in ways that he enjoys and his coworkers are surprisingly collaborative. True, the Shrouds still frighten him on some level, but really, they're not so bad. Okay, so he's a little jealous that even their three sons seem to be tiny child geniuses far beyond himself, but it doesn't sting the way it would have when he was younger. And he's freer here, somehow. Despite himself, he likes his new life in the Island of Woe. But he feels like he's dying. He's sure he is. Everything is dark.

Something coaxes Ilias then, and he spins towards it, facing opposite the direction he did when he glimpsed the past. He knows something lies ahead, something final, and with it, the end of the thread of this man’s life.

He reaches for it, grasping with thin hands ending in claw-like nails and feels, both in this space and back where things remain real, the final word leave his mouth, the name of the spell he realizes he's cast.

“HARBINGER.”

The man’s future snaps into view, frames glimpsed here and there on the way to that finality he knows is waiting. Initially the negative following this moment stands out most starkly, and it's several frames before the positives become more prominent and vibrant, but these don't linger and dig beneath the skin the same way. They brush over Ilias with a warmth and tenderness, and don't sear him.

And then it all slows. The man is old now. He watches an adolescent Shroud boy with long, long hair storm away in frustration after an argument with a man wearing the uniform and helmet of the S.T.Y.X. director. It takes his physical expression of exasperation for Ilias to recognize this is his younger brother, grown up.

“Give him some time, sir,” the old man says, patience and kindness in his voice that were never there in the past, and are barely there in his present. “You can't push too hard with teenagers.”

This day moves well but slow, very slow. He finishes out his shift and returns home, greeted with an aged affection by his husband. The two eat, unaware this is their last meal together, and sometime after they retire for the night, peacefully asleep beside each other, the man exhales his last breath in a sigh. And the thread vanishes with a snipping sound.

Everything real rushes back at once, color and sound colliding like the shattered glass is crashing itself back together in an attempt to repair the world. The spell releases Ilias only seconds after he lets go, unaware he was holding it to begin with. Unconsciously, he clutches at his head, which feels both too light and too heavy, and curls up on his side on the floor, trying to push away the memories that aren't his from the ones that are.

They leave quickly, like they're fleeing back to their owner, but the one future-memory, the image of the last day, lingers.

At the very least, the man won't actually die for some time to come.

But in this moment that is a cold comfort, and it cannot conceal the magic that now is awake, living beneath the boy’s skin.

With a whimper, Ilias shuts his eyes.

So there we have it, both an Ilias memory and a glimpse of the first time he discovers his Unique Magic. I've talked about it before somewhat to a few mutuals and friends (I can't recall who all I've told,) but Harbinger allows him to see a person's ultimate fate. Unfortunately, Ilias cannot control what other information about the person he receives in the process (and when he's young, he can't stem the flow of that information at all.) It often overwhelms him, and by the time he's a young adult in his early 20s, he's inclined to believe the worst of almost everyone and everything, because that's usually what his UM shows him when he tries to see someone's fate.

Also worth noting here that I did keep the details vague intentionally for the most part regarding this S.T.Y.X. employee's life and experiences. As this is meant to be a memory of Ilias's, the details of the man's life, thoughts, feelings have all faded somewhat with time from Ilias's perspective, as this is written to be his recollection. It would be quite different when experiencing them in real time.

does that anon think Pedri is dissecting every single sentence he said about Gavi at home like a lovesick teenager? It must be already known that Pedri is very simple. He really doesn’t care what people think about him. If he did and if he wanted attention (like one anon claimed), he would change his style (tbh I don’t care about his style, he slays whatever he wears but some people seem to have problem with it) or hang out with Gavi instead of being glued to Ferran. Even when Ferran and Eric were receiving so much hate Pedri still stuck to them because they are the trio and his best friends. If he wanted attention and wanted to have a good “reputation” then he wouldn’t have constantly spent time with the most-hated on players (at that time), namely Eric and Ferran. Because we all know that Pedri was also hated on for spending time with his “ass-kissing loser friends” (as Eric and Ferran were called like once on tumblr). Someone literally claimed one time that Pedri wanted to show off with his “clique” with his clique to make his teammates feel excluded and make them jealous. Like please, they are not in a high school movie. That’s real life. You will have your close friends. I really hate all the drama that is made around Pedri and Gavi’s friendship. They are friends, not exclusive. They are both allowed to have other friends too, also friends that they spend more time with than they do with each other. What I still find sad is that people needed a new explosive Gavi friendship to accept that Pedri and Ferran’s friendship is a thing. Like as soon as they saw Gavi and João together they were like: “Ferran can keep Pedri. João and Gavi have more chemistry anyway.” Why do we have to hate on Pedri and Ferran’s friendship to hype Gavi and João?

I’m not used to fan girl/boy craziness bc the cultures of fandom that I come from (punk/indie music/ art/ skate/poetry/ older man-dominated spaces of football) are not very pop and young so all these gossip-column behavior is bizarre to me, there’s always gossip but not this crazy speculation and mean girl fan behavior .Gavi ❤️s Pedri and same with Pedri to him, no more. And Gavi has Cristo but next to Cristo (and maybe Ansu/Xavi Simmons/Ilias) Fermín is the closest thing to a Ferrán type of friendship. Old friend who made it to the same team. João and Gavi if they do hit it off is more like Gavi and Pedri bc it’s two really good players that have chemistry, are good, good looking and get along. But this people are real people, they are not strategizing their friendships like you all are lol.

the French-speaking older ladies sitting behind me loved Donovan Carillo: in English one said “he’s cute” then another said "he's so cute" then he skated some more, and the first lady said, under her breath, as if talking to herself, "he's so cute" lol everything else they said was in French

Riku Ryu came and watched Sota Yamamoto's skate from the rail - he had one of the most expressive skates. he had a stronger FP, Boyang had a stronger SP - they were just 2 and 3 pts out of 3rd. Stephen wasn't as solid today as yesterday, but he was so far ahead from his SP that he had just enough. one day i want to see what he looks like when he really smiles 🙂

Kevin Aymoz was probably conserving energy for his jumps, which were cleaner in the performance than in practice, but he was more free in his movements and expression in the practice-- he looked like he was running out of steam towards the end of the free, and his coach kept banging the boards and clapping to encourage him. because Bolero is one giant musical crescendo, it doesn't work if your skating doesn't have different levels of energy and lots of emotion , but Kevin is overflowing with that, so i'll be looking forward to seeing this again

Ilia's skating feels personal now- he didn't do a quad axel here, but he's a stronger performer and moves better than he did last season. that butterfly twist thing he did was so good and so high off the ice - it's rare that you see something you've never seen before

She was born in Siesta Key, the second of three girls. Her mum died when she was 3 years old and due to the pressure of raising her and her two sisters, her dad moved from their house on the other side of town, to Southside Village so that the grandparents could help out with raising the girls and helping them with their grief. They made good friends with their next door neighbours and when their grandsons moved in, she became best friends with the boy next door.

Struggled with the loss of her mother and often wrestled with the idea of what her mother would’ve wanted and what she wanted for her life. Over the years, her sisters and her have developed a much closer bond and are closer than ever now. Once she had discovered her love for animals and begun to settle into life more, she had the confidence to speak her mind, which enabled her family to form a closer bond with her.

She had always loved animals and she began horse riding to help with a healthy outlet. Riding had helped her come out of her shell and give her something to enjoy after grieving her mother. Her father had always noticed this and encouraged her to pursue this for her career. Although she loved horses, she knew that her passion lay elsewhere and she moved to Miami to study Marine Biology.

She was home often after leaving for college, keeping in touch with her family and the family next door. She saw Marco regularly but often hid how his brother was doing, to try and prevent him giving up his opportunities and coming home. Eventually she made the call to let him know how things had gone downhill. As much as she knows it was the right thing to do, she still feels guilty that she was the one to call and bring him home.

When Marco covered for his brother and ended up in jail, she began to see her relationships with the family fracture. Her and Marco had a huge argument and then her and Juan and she soon only spoke to their grandmother and Gabriela, regularly taking the little girl out and looking after her, out of love for her and loyalty for Marco, even though she wasn’t speaking to him.

She works as a marine biologist and animal trainer at the aquarium and has loved every second of it since she started the job. Being around marine animals is still her happy place and often where she finds herself when in need of some time alone or to muddle through her thoughts. To make a little extra money, she also makes canvas tote bags in her spare time, selling them on Etsy.

Two years ago, her dad passed away and for a while, she didn’t cope well with now having lost both of her parents. She struggled with related anxiety and is only just beginning to feel like she has more of a handle on things. For a while, she moved out of her family home, to escape the memories but recently moved back home, feeling a sense of peace at being in the home that both of her parents had worked hard for.

Weiss slowly fingered the red string that was connected to her heart and let out a heavy sigh as she wandered through the streets of Mantle to follow where the red string led. She slowly pulled a white cloak over herself to keep herself out of sight of anyone who would recognize her. She was still a bit young to be off on her own as far as her father was concerned, but she had to know who the string led to. As the sun started to set, Weiss leaned against a building and let out a sigh. “I’m never going to find who this leads to…”

“I… wouldnt say never…”

Weiss paused and looked up to see a girl a little older than her smile at her. “And… you are?”

“Ilia.” Ilia gently thumbed the red string. “And… I think we are… connected.”

Weiss slowly nodded and looked at the red string that seemed to wrap around Ilia. A small blush spread across her cheeks and she pulled the hood of her cloak down. “Its nice to meet you. I’m Weiss.”

“Weiss… as in Weiss Schnee?”

“Yeah.”

Ilia paused for a moment and took Weiss’s hand. “You should come with me so we can get to know each other better.”

“That would be great-” Weiss felt herself get pulled down the street by Ilia and did her best to keep up. “But… where are we going?”

“To home. Its getting dark and the streets wont be safe for you. But dont worry, I’ll make sure no one knows who you are.”

Weiss nodded and kept close to Ilia, her heart started to beat faster the longer she was pulled along. Though, the smile on her face started to disappear as she realized she was pulled to the faunus district of Mantle. “We shouldnt be here.”

Ilia continued to a small, abandoned building near the crater. “This is exactly where you need to be.”

Weiss tried to pull away and felt herself get grabbed from behind as a large faunus picked her up off the ground. She tried to kick to free herself to no avail. “Let me go! If my father hears about this-”

“Then he’ll make us rich.” The faunus gagged Weiss and started to tie her up. “You did well, Ilia. Who knew you’d bring us a Schnee.”

Ilia nodded and gently pulled on the red string. “And… she’ll be fine, right?”

“As long as her father pays up, the White Fang will hold up their end of the bargain. Besides, now you can have your revenge on what her family did to yours.”

Ilia winced as she felt the red string snap as the faunus started to take Weiss away to a nearby airship. “R-right… revenge for my family…”

I was going to give her laced up boots, and then came to the conclusion that there was no way I would draw that many laces by hand.

You've already been briefly introduced to Warriors, so here's the older d'Archembault sibling: Linkle.

In Hyrule Warriors, Linkle seems like a headstrong and somewhat whimsical girl. She can't find her way to Hyrule Castle, she stumbles into battles, and she's so completely convinced that she's the Hero.

But what if it's a front?

Here's how I've envisioned LiWiAU Linkle:

the oldest d'Archembault sibling (three years older than Warriors);

grew up with a controlling father who adored and prized Warriors above her — she became closer to her grandmother than her father, and learned early on how to mask her thoughts and emotions, and how to act the part of the noble woman;

resents Warriors for taking their father's love and attention, but also adores Warriors and wants him to be happy (sibling dynamic of "I can pick on him but if anyone else does they'll be dead before they finish speaking");

being hot headed runs in the family;

had to teach herself to he more patient than Warriors, and to observe situations before taking actions — during the War, this makes her a better tactician than him;

after Warriors is disinherited and kicked out of the family, she becomes the sole inheritor — their father dies in the early days of the War, and she becomes the Lady d'Archembault;

her father had sent her and her grandmother south to a farm to be safe from the War;

her grandmother still believes Linkle to be the Hero Reborn, and Linkle lets her believe that, but knows in her heart she isn't;

sets out to search for Warriors, his family, and Zelda (I know I've called HW Zeld 'Artemis' elsewhere, but I'm still not sure about it, and I'll hold off on a nickname until I have to settle on one);

over time Linkle gains a small troop of fifty men (the lost and the forgotten ones), and gives them courage to deal with skirmishes and small battles — one of these people is Ravio, and the two of them develop a close friendship;

at one point they encounter Mask (young Link from OoT and MM), and I'm having a fantastic time writing hik as a teenager;

when Linkle and Warriors meet up, a lot has happened for both of them — they haven't seen each other in person for five years, both have unprocessed grief, and they argue (a lot);

Linkle is privately courting HW Zelda — they never had time to make it public before the War, but they've been courting since they were in their early twenties (approx. six years by the time Out of Time takes place);

Linkle matures into a steady woman — she's fiercely protective of those she loves (that includes her soldiers and the people of Hyrule), and becomes a sort of role model for the younger girls (especially Aurora, Phantom, and Aryll);

Ilia doesn't like her much at first (she thinks Linkle is too bossy, and they butt heads a lot), but eventually develops some respect for her;

Linkle has a thing for skinny dipping at night under the moon and is always up at the crack of dawn;

enjoys travelling light and exploring, and has improved her navigational skills;

teaches the younger girls how to properly handle a sword;

by the time the main story of Out of Time takes place, the War will have been over for about a year.

Finally, as a bit of fun trivia, I want y'all to know that when I drew the above illustration, my vague reference was whatever image appeared when I googled "painting of Victorian man gazing into the distance".

Ilia was exhausted from her sudden and unexpected climax she couldn’t do anything.

All she could do is watch is the two women both now pull down their pants to their mid thighs. In doing so they revealed two large strap on‘s that they had been hiding. The blondes was light blue and color with large veins running around it; well the brunettes was yellow with bumps all over it. Ilia mounded out as the position to two at her holes, she had no idea how she got in the situation but she wasn’t sure that she didn’t dislike it.

Cloud - Boy’s on his honeymoon with Zelda, they’re so in love!! Or at least, he was on his honeymoon. Until he got yanked away by this whole time-travel business. He’s rather upset about that. Him and Zelda have been married for not even a week yet aaauugh

Mini - kiddo is too young for romance, but he’s best friends with his Zelda.

Sprite - once again a bit young for a relationship, but he definitely had something going on with Zelda there during oot. He’s not quite sure what his feelings are towards her now. There’s Malon too, but he’s kind of too distracted by existential dread to think about romance much.

Gloam - Poor guy is so confused. Was he in love with Midna? Was she in love with him? Her leaving really messed him up, but is that because she was basically his best friend, or was there more going on there??? It takes him a while to sort everything out, and during it all he finds himself noticing Ilia more. She went through a lot during his adventure too, and while their experiences were hardly the same she does get a lot of it, and it’s good to talk to her... have her eyes always been that pretty?

Light - Once again, best friends with his Zelda. Not sure if he likes her like that though, he just went on an entire journey to save her and he thought about her the whole time, and she was one of the only things all four of him could agree on and... uh oh.

Windy - He’s besties with Tetra. When they’re a little older they get into a relationship, but Windy’s grandma instilled in him really proper views of romance and stuff, (because I think it’s hilarious) which drives Tetra insane. “Yes Link, we can hold hands please let me kiss you your grandma doesn’t have to know Link come on-“

Hibiscus - hoo boy. During his first adventure he had quite a crush on Zelda, but it was hard for him to spend time with her due to royal stuff and his travels so it kinda faded. Then Koholint happened. Marin was quite literally his dream girl, and Hib was positively smitten. They fall hopelessly in love and right before he wakes the windfish him and Marin get engaged. He has to desperately tell himself it won’t be in vain and that waking the windfish will be fine, that it’ll all work out. It doesn’t. The island and Marin are gone, and Hibiscus is heartbroken.

Hue - he’s pretty sure Zelda has a crush on him, but he isn’t quite certain what he thinks of her. Romance isn’t at the top of his list of priorities at the moment.

Brownie - Is horribly in love with Zelda (the one woken up at the end of aol, he’s just really good friends with the other Zelda), but he’s terrified his blood curse will attract monsters and put her and the castle in danger if he visits. Plus he’s a nobody. Who is he to fall in love with a princess? Does she even like him back?!

Hyrule Warriors Link (no nickname yet) - so. turns out the old stern guys on Zelda’s council aren’t fans of having an castletown-nobody marry their princess, even if he is a war hero/chosen hero of Hyrule, so they’ve basically forbidden Link from anything but a business relationship. Of course, Link and Zelda don’t care because they’re rather in love. Secret relationship trope ensues, mostly because I’m a sucker for it. Impa helps enable them but vehemently denies any involvement.

EDIT: I FORGOT SLATE

Slate - Things are a little weird between him and Zelda. I mean, she guided him through his journey, and everything he did was for her, but how much of that was muscle memory? Does he really remember her? He’s sort of put artificial distance between them because he’s a little scared she won’t like who he is now.

Blacksun: ehh, it’s cute. I started out feeling kinda meh, it was sweet but not really interesting, but now it’s growing on me. Ironically the same thing is happening with Bumblebee, although I still like Blake and Yang better platonically

Bunanas: so this is a ship between Velvet and Sun, and it’s honestly really cute to imagine even if it is completely random. I like it better then Blacksun…I think?

Candy Cane: this is just weird. I can’t imagine Nora being anything but a older sister to Oscar. The age gap makes it creepy too, not the four years is much of a gap, but when your teenagers it’s a big gap.

Chocolate Arc: this is hilarious to imagine but obviously yeah, Coco isn’t going to fall for someone like Jaune

Cinnabun: I barely know anything about Yatsuhashi but he and Velvet are cute, I guess? Still like her better with Sun

ClockRose: heck no!

Coconuts: again, can’t see Sun doing anything but annoying Coco. I really don’t like the whole ‘badass jerk of a girl falls for goof ball trope.’ It always ends up feeling sexist in several ways

Combat Boots: honestly outside of an AU I can’t see Yang ever forgiving Mercury much less falling in love with him. Also Mercury just doesn’t deserve her

Combat goggles: I feel like Yang and Neptune would have fun causally dating each other and slowly realizing they actually like (Blake/Sun/Jaune/whoever) and become each other’s wingmen. That fanfic better be lying around somewhere

Crimson Lotus: okay, if I didn’t love Renora and Rosegarden so much I’d probably ship this. It’s really cute

Crimson Sun: this feels like an excuse to write lemons of the two hottest characters

Crimson wings: look I understand most of the shipping heroes with villains because they’re both hot and the villain/hero dynamic is always fun. But Cardin…he’s not even hot. He’s not even interesting. And yet people ship him with Ruby? Why?

Daddie Issues: you know I see where this is coming from but they would just end up murdering each other.

Dairy Farm: obviously this is downright creepy in cannon, but in an au where Neo isn’t evil and both are closer in age, this would be adorable. I feel like Neo’s main problem is she’s incredibly lonely—other then Roman no one bothers to understand or talk to her. If Oscar reached out to her, and she began to protect him…it would be perfect. In way even better then Rosegarden because I think Neo would still be a bit of pycho even when good, and it would be fun to see her lose it when Salem hurts him.

Ilia/Adam: I just want to say I am forever grateful the show went out of its way to avoid this obnoxious, cliche ship from being canon

Dragon slayer: I see why people ship Jaune and Yang, I really do. They’re both the team mom/dad of their team, they’ve got the whole goofball/badass thing going (which is a trope I do like when the badass isn’t a jerk), they both have a good sense of humor, etc. But I just can’t see them as romantic. It feels really weird. I can’t even explain why. I understand shipping them but I really can’t ship them myself.

Emercury: I really love this ship, but I also don’t mind at all if the show decides to make them platonic. I enjoy their relationship in general and it works either way.

Oscar/Emerald: again, feel creepy. I love the idea of a sibling relationship and can’t see them possibly being romantic even without the age gape.

Cinder/Qrow: yeah again. Both are sexy and good for angsty lemons. I’m not into that stuff so I don’t ship them

Fall Stinger: I just don’t know why anyone would ship Tyrian with anyone. Unless it was Salem and even that is super creepy

Firerobber: I like villain relationships but Roman already has Neo and Cinder is a hot mess. Literally

Firewall: I don’t know why anyone would ship Watts with anyone. He’s even worst less ship-able then Tyrian

Footloose: I don’t actually ship it but just imagine Mercury and Melanie bonding over weaponized feet.

Freckles: Yeah this is just painful. The two most adorable characters (Penny and Oscar), who go through the worst things imaginable. It’s endless fluff, angst, and whump, and I love cute romance and tragic romances, so this is definitely something I ship.

Frostbite: seriously, this is so weird and toxic. Having Adam fall for Weiss or vice versa. Maybe it would work in an AU or something but it’s just too creepy

Funky Beats: it’s cute, I ship it.

Gelato: yeah I love healthy villainous relationships! Neo and Roman are freaking adorable, and I’m sad that we didn’t see more of them together.

Grandmasters: I obviously don’t ship Salem and Ozpin because that’s just creepy, but I do like their romance. I like tragic romances, and this probably the most tragic one in existence

Greek Lotus: I don’t see the chemistry and crashes two of my favorite ships so…

Green Knight: well, she kinda helped kill his last girlfriend so…unless it’s AU this isn’t going to work. Even if it is an AU. This feels like another ship made solely for lemons

Velvet/Cardin: yeah, a bigot changing his mind when he falls in love with a minority isn’t cute. Isn’t sweet. It isn’t romantic. I don’t even excuse lemons that use this trope. Even porn ought to be above that

Weiss/Cardin: WOULD EVERYONE STOP SHIPPING CARDIN WITH PEOPLE

Hummingbird: it’s hard to ship something when you only know one character, but I was interested in the theory that Qrow was actually Ruby’s father. But then in season 7 Qrow’s description of Summer made me rethink it, and it didn’t sound anything like how you’d describe a romantic relationship. So I don’t really like that theory anymore

Iceberg: this is just cliche and boring. I get them dating but it wouldn’t last that long

Flynt/Weiss: I really love this one, it’s my favorite ship with Weiss. I don’t want it to actually happened in cannon because that would be random, but I feel like it would be fun for both their characters. And they both share an interest in music. I’m imagining an AU where he gets her into jazz and she starts singing it at all her concerts to the horror of Jaques.

Iron Maiden: honestly what. Why. Gross

Iron witch: well I definitely see why people like it. I actually wouldn’t mind it being cannon, It’d be a good combination of funny/tragic and I’d like to see Glynda mentoring Winter

Jailbirds: this just feels forced and also Qrow is probably too old for her. I like their relationship and don’t want it to be romantic

Knight fall: lemon ship. Moving on

Knight Life: I feel like Jaune just gets shipped with everyone but this is cute I guess

Lancaster: it’s cute, but I can’t ship it because it feels cliche. I was worried that Jaune was going to be her love interest when they first met and was relieved to see him with Pyrrha instead. It just feels forced and boring to have him end up with Ruby

Pyrrha/Mercury: this really popular for some unfathomable reason. I like Mercury but Pyrrha deserves better

Marrowgold (May/Marrow): I just don’t see it

Nikong: Pyrrha and Sun would be cute together, but I don’t really love this ship. It’s kinda meh.

Nora’s Arc: no. Just no. It technically would work but their platonic relationship is way too good to lose

Old Silver: this is Maria/Pietro, and I think it’s adorable. They both strike me as really flirty for their ages and both are very good mentors. They can be the crazy grandparents of the team

Ozglyn: just don’t see it

Phoenix: yeah Raven was a horrible girlfriend/wife. I don’t ship her Taiyang

QuickSilver: Ruby deserves better than Mercury.

Rehab (Qrow/Glynda): the fact that this is called rehab explains why I don’t ship it

ReNora: yeah, this is probably my favorite ship. I don’t think I have to explain why.

Robotic Knight: I briefly shipped this but now disagree

Rosegarden: I really love Rosegarden, they’re just too adorable together, though the whole Ozpin does make it a little awkward

Rosewick: I can’t see this happening, even in an AU

Coco/Fox: I don’t know enough about Fox to really ship them, but the fact that Coco canonically slaps his butt during battle definitely makes me want to

Mercury/Neo: I could see this working. It would be pretty cute

Silent Knight: again, it would have to be an AU and even then I don’t see it working

Snowbird: so at first I really liked the idea of Qrow and Winter being ex’s, but now that I think about it he has to be at least twenty years older then her. Also, I have to say that while they have chemistry I think they would just end up killing each other

Speakeasy (Flynt/Coco): I got to say I like this ship and could see them having a lot of chemistry together

Strawbanna: I just can’t see Ruby and Sun together. It feels weird

Sunflakes: Can’t see it working

Sunflowyr (Ren/Yang): don’t see any chemistry. Again this just seems random

Tauradonna: this is obviously as toxic as you get.

The Hunt (Cardin/Blake): stop shipping Cardin with anyone!

Mercury/Cinder: Mercury is way too young, and even if he wasn’t this would be really weird. Also Cinder makes him look like a stable, peaceful person, so also no.

Toxic Petals: I swear I’m done with this. No more Cardin, Tyrian, or Watts ships. They too gross

Velveteen Knight: Aw, they’d be cute together

White Knight: I really hate this ship. It’s so obnoxious and boring, and nearly falls into the jerky badass/goofball trope I hate

Winter Soldier: ew, no, Ironwood is like her dad

Wise Dragon: anyone care to explain why this is so popular? Sage barely has any character to him, I can’t ship him with anyone

Yellow rose: Yeah, I kinda ship this, but again, it’s difficult when you barely know one character

IronQrow: I understand why you would ship this but I just don’t see it. Guys can hug without being gay you know

Martial arts: why?

Noah’s Arc: why?

Sea Monkeys: again I understand why you could ship it but I don’t. They’re obviously just friends to me

Shovel Knight: like most Oscar ships it feels weird. Jaune is obviously a big brother to him

TaiQrow: As funny as it is for Tai to sleep with every member of his team, I don’t ship it.

Fair game: I really can’t stand Clover so again, don’t ship it

Achilles heel: Cinder literally kills Pyrrha, why would you ship them?

Baked Alaska: lemon ship

Black glass: annnd, another lemon ship.

Blood Mint: yeah I don’t see Emerald and Ruby ever being a couple

Catmelon: I found Ilia’s crush on Blake kinda cringy and I can’t see them being a couple

ColdMurder (Weiss/Cinder): even in an au I don’t see it working

Cold Steel (Penny/Winter) eeewww, they’re practically sisters

Cream Machine (Neo/Penny): I mean…if she wasn’t evil…and wasn’t so much older…it might work? Maybe?

Crosshares: cute but I feel like Velvet is too much of a doormat for Coco

Digital Clock: Ciel obviously didn’t care much for Penny, and she was barely a character at all. I don’t see it

Pyrrha/Nora: don’t see it, and also can’t stand the idea of breaking up the two best ships

Falling Petals: I get that Cinder is hot, but can we stop shipping her with the kids she’s trying to murder? Because I can see several things wrong with that

Freezerburn: again, for no reason that I can think of this ship just doesn’t work for me. Much like Dragonslayer it just feels weird

Gingersnaps (Penny/Nora): that would be chaotic. I can’t really see them romantically though like most Penny ships it would be cute

Guilty Conscience (Bree/Winter): oh please no. They really don’t have any reason to be together

Ladybug: I just can’t see Blake with Ruby at all. Blake feels way to old even though she’s only older by two years.

Milk and Cereal (Ruby and Pyrrha): I guess it would work but I just don’t any chemistry

Mint chocolate (Emerald/Coco): if Coco managed to forgive her for everything that happened at Beacon I could maybe see this happening. There is some chemistry

Mommy issues: Nah, can’t see this working out.

Monochrome: Blake and Weiss have never had any romance chemistry despite plenty of opportunity to have it, so again, I see them as strictly platonic and shipping them feels almost like incest. I know that doesn’t make sense

Nordic Winter: I can’t see Weiss handling Penny, but again, any Penny ship is pretty cute

Nuts and Dolts: I would ship, but I like them together platonically too well. Definitely understand the ship, though I find it funny that Ruby, who insist she likes weapons better then people, would fall in love with a personified weapon. I know that’s probably racist against robots

Overheating (Penny/Cinder): I take back what I said about every Penny ship being cute

PennyWeiss: but this one is pretty cute

Pink Lemonade: can you imagine the chaos of Yang and Nora dating each other? They both need someone with a cooler head to keep them in check

Scheenoks: with Weiss’s fangirling I can definitely see were this is coming from, but Weiss is too mean for Pyrrha

Steadfast: I really don’t ship any of the ace-ops with anyone. I found them all boring and annoying except for Marrow

Strawberry Shortcake (Neo/Ruby): not seeing it

Sugar Rush (Ruby/Nora): Again, too much chaos. They both need chill partners. And I love Rosegarden and ReNora too much

Thunder cat (Blake/Nora): don’t see any chemistry between them

WhiteRose: I can see why this is shipped and I don’t dislike WhiteRose shippers. I just prefer Rosegarden, and find Weiss and Ruby working better together romantically

Bumblebee: again, I see this working better platonically, not romantically. It kind of annoyed me at first, but it is growing on me, much like Blacksun. I still like Blacksun better though
